Chapter Text

The snow fell on Shizume City as midnight approached. Silence began to linger longer and the streets got more quiet, although never really sleeping. In the distance filled a Piano, the void of missing voices, in Sync with an Opera, which is filled by people watching the Orchestra taking place. Door closed, not letting intruders in, nor rude people out.
A question in mind, does Chaos ever get invited?
Violins were getting faster as a woman got on stage, dressed in a white dress, her Raven hair styled into a loose bun. She looked at the man already on stage, as he began to sing.
At that moment everything seemed to slow down, the people were mesmerized as the song proceeded, not feeling, nor able to know what will happen above their heads, up in a private lodge.

The Male singer looked at the woman in concern and anger as he sang, a last plea of surrender. Although he understood in her eyes that she would not back down, his plea was left ignored, shattered to pieces for who was willing to learn a segment of truth.
“Past the point of no return!” His voice then rang through the hall, sorrow filling his voice. He stretched his hand out to the woman. “No backward glances, our games of make-believe are at an end!!” They began to dance with one another, unbeknownst to the watching eyes, it was his way of saying goodbye. His Voice carried on as the song proceeded, full of sorrow and an unspoken apology for losing her.

On the far corner of the Opera, a private Lodge, was sitting a man with gray hair who watched the act with intertwined hands, a cold stare at them both.
he heard the door behind him open and turned around, in came a man with a cold smile. “I hope everything is to your liking Sir?”

Behind him the Singer carried on: “What raging fire shall flood the soul? What rich desire unlocks its door? What sweet seduction lies before us”

The gray haired man was giving the man who intruded his lodge a cold stare. “But of course.”
He gave the pair on the stage a look and then turned back to the man behind him. “I guess you entered my lodge with a second reason…Sir?”

The Duo came closer together as the man sang his last words before the ‘point of no return’ will be crossed. “Past the point of no return. The final threshold. What warm, unspoken secrets will we learn beyond the point of no return?”
The woman on the other hand gave him a last smile as she stepped away, looking at the audience with a serious expression on her face.
“He” will learn what it means to burn.

All the while the two men in the lodge looked at each other, the intruder starting to grin as he heard the woman's part approaching, he stepped into the other man's personal space, putting his hand on his shoulder. suddenly enticing a white light at the space where they touched. “But good Sir, I have no idea what you are talking about.”

The gray haired man opened his mouth in shock and pushed the other man away, a reply already on his tongue as the woman began to sing her part of the opera, and his final minutes.”“You have brought me to that moment where words run dry, to that moment where speech disappears into silence!” As the words echoed, his voice died and his throat started to ache, feeling as if it would melt, he sank to his knees and looked at the man in front of him in utter panic. The man now had a mischievous grin and started to kneel in front of him.
“There is no escaping this.” he whispered into his ear.

The gray haired man´s panic turned to anger and he pushed him away again as he stood up and stumbled towards the door, pushing it open and running out of the lodge. He ran down the floors in hope of reaching the exit, but another man stopped him. “Are you okay Sir?”
He just pushed him away as he prayed the whole opera would go to hell.

“Sir, running is prohibited in the Opera!” The man called after him but it all sounded more like ringing in his ears as his throat began to take every last breath from him. He could not scream and now his ability to breath was melting away too.
Around a corner he saw an open window and was running towards it, fresh air! It was exactly what he needed.
As soon as he reached it he opened his mouth, gasping for air, but no matter how hard he tried, he just could not get any air in his lungs. No, it was the complete opposite of it, it began to hurt even more.

As tears began to streak down his face a hand gripped his shoulder and turned him around with an unbreakable grip. The same gray haired man as before stood in front of him, nearly angry. “Sir, did you not know that running is prohibited on these floors?” He sounded nearly mocking.

“When will the blood begin to race?”

His heart was pounding and he felt himself getting weaker as the ache started to stretch further. He wanted to scream but no sound came out, his face was getting red, his blood boiled from the pain. From the fire inside him. A hand was laid at his chest
That mocking grin haunting him.

The door to the hall just opened as he heard the words from the female singer:” When will the flames at last consume us?” His body went stiff as his heart started to ache, his mouth shot open in a last silent scream as the hand pushed him out the window. As he fell he only saw that mocking grin as his heart stopped pounding from the unbearable heat that consumed his body.

“An ambulance. We need an ambulance, someone fell out of the window !”
The gray haired man screamed to the young man around the corner who got pushed aside. That young man hurried to the screaming college and fished his phone out.

“We need an ambulance! someone fell out of the window, yeah, the Opera, yeah of course, please hurry!”

—-------------------------------------------------

A knock was coming from his office door, so he saw up from going through the documents on his desk. “Yes?” He replied and so came in a rather young officer with raven hair and glasses. “Captain, There is a new case that seems to be urgent.” The young man explained. “We got it just now, the crime department seemed at a loss and came to the conclusion that a Strain must be behind the crime and so, gave the case over to us.
Though I must say I don't quite get why they didn't do it sooner.”

The Captain, also known as Munakata Reishi, heaved an eyebrow questioningly.
“Fushimi, please elaborate.” He asked him, which made the young officer sigh.
“I am pretty sure you already heard of the case in the news, the man that fell out of the opera’s window a few days ago.” Reishi nodded at these words.
“ Well it seems like the man didn't actually die of a more accidental cause, the autopsy report states that the man has marks of burning on his insides. Some of them were strong enough that they destroyed organs. Though after some tests, which ended with a rather bitter result, the marks were not made by any sort of acid."

He laid the report on the desk and watched his captain. “The Victim is known as Kurone Ashikawa. 42 years old and CEO of a software company. Rather rich and stoic.
He lives two blocks away from here. “ Fushimi stated the basic information.”He was married to a woman named Akane Ashikawa, 40 Years old.”

Reishi skimmed the report and nodded at the words, after a quick look he closed it again and stood up from his office chair. “Fushimi, take your Jacket.” He stated and the young officer looked at him confused. “Sir?” He asked, which made the slightly older male smile amused. “What, I take it your free of any case at the moment?”

The ravenett blinked and was irritated:”Yes.” He answered.
“Good, you are accompanying me to the wife of the victim.” The captain himself took his jacket and hid a gun for emergencies. “We're going to ask her some questions and see if he had any enemies. I expect you to be at least on your neutral behavior. She did lose her Husband.”
Fushimi tskd quietly and cursed under his breath as the captain left the room, nonetheless was shortly after a:”Language!” heard that came from further down the hallway.

Shaking his head, he did not forget to take his jacket on his way out of the building.

Chapter Text

The roaring engine died and the closing doors echoed through the street while the sun was nearly reaching mid day.
The young officer already looked up the address and pointed at the nearby door. “We’re here.” He stated bored, interrogations are not really his specialty.
The duo rang the doorbell and waited for a bit, noticing how his captain began to shiver. Grinning to himself, he remembered how Munakata was never able to handle the cold. “Hothouse Lily.” He teased, finally something amusing.
“Shush!” Came the direct reply which made the younger one laugh.

Munakata only shook his head, why again did he decide to take him with him?

The door opened and seen was a lady whose hair was already turning to white.
She studied the duo and her expression turned from confusion to sadness.
Reishi guessed she already knew who they were.
“Miss Akane Ashikawa?” He asked politely but the woman only sighed and stepped away from the door, giving them silent permission to enter her home.
Silent glances were exchanged from officer to officer, but they followed her inside.
Reishi felt the pressing atmosphere in his bones, how it slowly traveled up his spine and left a sickening feeling on his skin. It was colder than outside or was it?
She was suffering, he noticed, or maybe he felt it…He wasn't quite sure.
Her posture was sluggish, her eyes so lifeless.
They followed her into the living room. “ I assume you two are here because of my husband?” She asked calm and took a seat. The complete opposite of the vibe she was giving off before. Silently she offered them a seat opposite from her. So the two sat down.
“That is correct.” He decided to be direct, his mind was screaming at him to leave this place as soon as possible.

The woman, Akane Ashikawa nodded, her calm expression turned serious.” There is nothing I didn't already tell the police. Why are you here now? Is it not okay to let the ones left grieve?”
She asked angry, Reishi could sense the warning in her tone. “Pardon Miss Ashikawa, I understand your anger. But we are here to solve the case about your husband and as far as I respect my colleagues from the crime departement, I rather make my own impression of the situation.” He explained in his calm demeanor.

She sighed and leaned back, silently thinking over her coming decisions.
Reishi took the time and looked around the room. It was pretty clean maybe even sterile, the light came in from a big window to his right. The TV stood in the corner, opposite from it was a door, slightly open by the looks of it, an office.
Next to the couch Miss Ashikawa was sitting on, stood a small table with a picture of her husband on it, white flowers directly in front of it.

“When do we get the corpse so we can hold a funeral, your colleagues were not able to give me a proper answer.”
Her question made him look at her again, she looked tired..how did he miss that before?
“I would like to say in the next couple of days, but our forensics are the ones that have a say in this, so I am not in any position to actually promise. I am sorry.”
Her bitter laugh made him straighten his back.”Miss Ashikawa, did your husband have any enemies? someone who would have wanted his death?”
He then started his own questions.
“ Who did not?” Sadly it only fueled her anger.
“He was a dick, an arrogant narcissist.” She stated and stared at the captain with furious eyes. When or why did her mood change so drastically.

Reishi himself forced himself to stay calm, but his lack of a reaction made everything worse it seems. If a look could kill, oh how merciless he would have died right now.

crossing her legs she again exceeded a calm demeanor.”I guess I should elaborate, should I not?”
Now blinking confused Reishi exchanged a look with Fushimi.
“Yes, please do that.”
Was she playing with them?

“He was an absolute ass as a CEO, his employees all resigned after a few months again and again. His infamous company just always managed to get new ones in time, so they never went bankrupt. “ Her calm demeanor already switched again to one of utter carelessness.
“There probably were some employees that held a bigger grudge against him than always assumed. Colleagues and partners were not better off.”
He saw Fushimi writing down what she said.
“And you?”
He dared to ask, as a result she shot him a glare.
“Me?”
She asked in a passiv aggressiv voice. Reishi really wondered why she acts this way.

“Yes, Miss Ashikawa, you spoke ill of your husband, did he ever treat you wrong?” Fushimi asked with an emphasis on you. His monotone voice carried on the house.
“Yes he did.” Her reply lacked bite, even anger if Reishi dared to think that.
“How did he behave around you?” She did not look at them, she just stared out the window. It took a silent minute but then she responded with so much grief. “He hit me, he degraded me, he took everything I owned.”

Reishi thought it over, it was a sad revelation if it is true. And he thinks it is. He just can't comprehend why she never left him. Bless Fushimi that he asked about it.
“Why did you stay, if your husband was as bad as you say, it would have been better to just..leave?”
Sad eyes and a sad smile looked back at them.”Call me naiv, officer. But I loved him and believed he could change, despite it all. I loved him…maybe you are able to understand.”

Both officers shifted uncomfortably as Reishi heard a voice inside his head, begging someone to stop, a crying Child somewhere near. He closed his eyes and breathed.
Opening them again when the voice disappeared. “Thank you Miss Ashikawa. If you happen to remember something, as slight as it seems. Please contact us. We will take our leave now.” He explained and shook her hand.

“Please find his killer, no one is left.”

Closing car doors was the sign for both officers to take a deep breath. “I take back what I said about interrogations…that was intense.” The ravenette admitted. “Her mood changed so fast every time.” Reishi nodded along.”Remind me to look up a therapist, it might be the cause of a trauma. In that case she needs help. Help that we can't provide…”
the younger one nodded his approval.
“I am proud of you.”
At his words Fushimi looked irritated and gave his superior a look.
Reishi just grinned ever so slightly.”You behaved neutral.”
A loud tskd was heard and a second after he looked at his captain again:”Idiot.”
Reishi started the engine laughing, leaving that house felt like a pressure release.
It was noticeable for both of them.

“What did she even mean with no one is left? She also didn't want to explain it.”
Reishi sighed as a reply, if only he knew.
“Let's get something to eat and call Akiyama, I want a list with every guest in the opera.. and a list with every employee from the company.”
Fushimi looked at him skeptical.”That's..going to be a lot of names.”
Another sigh..why again did they not receive that list already? Ah yes..complications.
“And remind me the next time the crime department wants something to reply with…we have some complications, so you need to get that on your own.”
Fushimi laughed.”I will.”
“Of course you will.”

“Oh captain.”
Reishi looked at him as they got back on the road. “The food is on you this time.”
He leaned his head on the wheel and sighed loudly.”Of course.”

looking back at the road when the light turned green he proceeded to drive them to the nearest shopping street.
While driving he watched the snow fall, thought back to the woman and remembered the badge they normally wear, the blue badge. For some reason it all felt blue.
sad, sterile and following the law..their job. Everything was blue.

Chapter Text

“Thank you-..” Reishi blurred the talking out as he took his and Fushimi's food, saying his own thank you and turning away. It’s not like he wants to be mean, but his mind is occupied by the case, too far gone in his own mind to take part in the acted kindness.
replaying the interrogation in his mind, the words that were said, the environment.
But nothing really stuck out.

The moment he stepped out of the restaurant he was spotted by Fushimi who was waiting for him. He was able to tell something new came up just by looking at his teammate.
“Tell me whatever you got, can wait after we ate, I did not pay for two just to let it get to waste.”
“Priorities Captain but yes, it can wait.” He took his takeout noodles from the captain and handed over his phone.”Akiyama was able to pull some strings and got both lists….Pretty fast even for him.” Explained the ravenette.
“Trust Akiyama to get whatever he wants.” His amusement was clear in his voice while he scanned the lists.

He just opened his noodles when he saw a name in the list.”Fushimi, do you by coincedence know who both singers where on the night of the murder?” Looking up from his noodles the slightly younger one raised a brow. “As far as I remember they were Sasaki Tanaka and Lily Ashikawa.” He walked up next to him and looked at the list. “Is one of them appearing in the list of the employees too?” Doubt was clear in his voice as he looked but Reishi shook his head. ”No, they are not.” This made the younger one look at his captain questioningly.
“It may only be a coincidence, so no need to look into it further for the time being, if it happens to come up again I will surely tell you.” This secrecy only made Fushimi look at him skeptical but decided to let the topic drop. But then Reishi turned around and walked to his car. “Captain?!” He called after him confused. “Found a match, we're going to visit this one!” Hurrying after him he asked.”I thought you wanted to wait until after we ate!?”
Reishi laughed, turned to him with a slight grin and replied:”Priorities Fushimi, eat in my car!” And turned around again. unlocking his car and taking the driver's seat.
“Fucking moron…” tskd Fushimi and took seconds after the passenger's seat. “Just so you know, I will eat my food in your car.”
“I wouldn’t have thought otherwise.”

Sighing loudly to himself Fushimi took the seat belt and buckled it in. “And pray tell me, Who exactly are we going to visit?”
Starting the engine Reishi slightly grinned and gave his noodles to Fushimi so they wouldn’t fall over. “You will see.”
growling to himself, Fushimi ate his noodles.”Better hurry up or I am also going to eat yours.”
“Don't you dare!”

When the engine finally died the sun was already beginning to set and drowned the sky in an orange color. “I can’t believe we are on the road for the whole day already.” complained the younger one and looked up at the sky, slowly but steadily the streets got more and more silent, the traffic died down until there were only a few left.
“Yeah, although it is quite nice.” Fushimi looked at him and wanted to ask what exactly is so nice about sitting in the car all day.
But before he was able to speak, he stopped himself and really looked at his captain, who was staring into the sky with such sad eyes. Sighing he decided to pull him out of his thoughts.”Nice? not sure about that, just means the reports to file out are stacking itself on my desk.”

Reishi laughed and looked back at him.”Well, at least it’s quiet around this time, most people are on their way home, others tend to their families while others get ready for a night out.” He smiled slightly.”It's nice.” Fushimi was only able to blink and nod, a weird feeling was crawling up his spine like there is something about his captain that he doesn’t know. A shadow creeping behind him and watching his every step.
Forcing himself he turned away, lost sight of that shadow, took a deep breath and pointed at the row of apartments.”So, who are we visiting?”
Reishi stepped in front of a door and pointed at one of the names. “The former co-owner of the company.” And pressed the doorbell. “Mister Iruma Akatsuki”
Seconds after his explanation was a voice heard from the speaker next to Reishi. “Hello?”
Reishi turned to it.”Good evening Mister Akatsuki, pardon the intrusion but we are from Scepter 4 and need to ask you a few questions.” he was back in his overly polite voice he used for ‘business’.
A silent curse came from the device and Fushimi exchanged a look with his captain, this was already suspicious.
But then the sound that the door opened for them resounded in front of them, So Reishi pushed it open and they entered the hallway of the complex. Going up some stairs they were met by a middle aged man. Reishi studied him and his posture. He was obviously not delighted to see them.”What an honor to meet agents from Scepter 4.” His voice was leaking with sarcasm.”Please, come in!” He turned into his home.
“Be careful, or you slip on the pond of sarcasm and fall down the stairs.” Was Fushimi's odd complaint full of his own sarcasm, the man already pissed him off..This was going to be fun..
“Fushimi, while I talk with him, try to scan his computer if he is in any reach.” He looked over his shoulder to see his partner.”Be fast while you do it.”
With that he stepped up the last few stairs and entered the apartment. leaving a stunned Fushimi behind.

“Thank you very much.” Reishi said and gave one of his fake business smiles, Fushimi didn't get how no one ever saw behind his fake smile…It was always creeping him out.
He followed his captain inside and then wandered off and looked around, to his delight the office door open and so he sneaked inside. He pulled his phone out and a cable he kept in his pockets and connected both devices. He then took a deep breath and gave off some electric impulses, connected with his phone he scanned the device in front of him.

Reishi looked around the living room while the man studied him. He tried to look for Fushimi but Reishi stopped him first.”So mister Akatsuki, I heard you were the co-owner of mister Ashikawas company.”
The topic seems to be the right one, Iruma Akatsuki turned to him on the spot.
“SO?” He questioned with anger in his voice, Reishi guessed it was because of the topic or this man hated their guts for no reason.
“I would like to hear your opinion on the matter of course, mister Ashikawa is dead.” He spoke calmly, and wasn't affected by the attitude. “You were there, on the night of his death.” He looked around again, the apartment didn’t look as sterile as the one from the victim.
A TV, a couch, some pictures. What caught his attention were some white flowers on the windowsill.

“My opinion? I am sure you don’t seek my opinion, officer.” Spoke the man with disgust, what has he done to deserve this treatment?
Reishi turned back to him, hands behind his back:”Why should I not?” He asked and studied the man, his whole posture screamed defensiv, anger, the way he held his head high and his hands on his hips.
“Why would you want my opinion on the matter?” He countered and narrowed his eyes.”You were the Co-owner, no sorrow for the death of a once friend?”
The man growled lowly. ”Friend? He was no friend of mine.” Reishi shook his head, raising his voice ever so slightly.”Then I guess his death must mean something positive?” He thought back to the car ride, where Fushimi looked up the reason why mister Akatsuki left the company, or to phrase it better, got fired. “Does it feel like revenge?” He asked with a neutral expression but felt his blood begin to boil. The man in front of him became strangely quiet. “Pardon, revenge sounds like an accusation, avenged might be a better fit, please tell me, mister Akatsuki, is it?.” Reishi smiled at him hauntingly. He really was about to snap at this guy, good for him that no one would see it.

Iruma Akatsuki gulped down whatever was about to slip out and took a seat on his couch.
“What do you want?” The sweat began to form on his head.
Reishi looked at him now confused.”I already said what I want, your opinion on the matter.”
Iruma tskd loudly, nearly reminding him of Fushimi.
“Neither was I happy nor Sad that he died that night.” He said now a bit friendlier than before, so Reishi forced himself to calm down as well.
“Please, continue” He said after the other man was quiet for a bit.” Kurone was once my friend like you said, but as soon as the company began to rise he changed.” His voice was full of sorrow.

Reishi narrowed his eyes.”Changed? How did the change show itself?”
“He became this toxic motherfucker everyone got to know!!” He snapped at Reishi loudly.
“Damaging the company and playing devil to everyone in the company, destroying their lives with lies, not paying them right, stabbing them in the back. I am glad that bastard fired me or else I would have still been in that shithole!”

He stood up and walked around the couch, ruffling his hair in anger.”We tried to live our dreams and started that company, we tried so hard for years and then that motherfucker walked up to me and said to my face that I am no longer the co-owner and not welcome anymore. He didn’t even explain why!”
Reishi noted how he contradicted himself with his prior statement of being ‘happy’ of getting fired.
He turned back to Reishi with furious glinting eyes and fists balled hands. “Whoever did that to this bastard did the right thing, he destroyed so many lives, abused his own wife!”
Reishi stayed a safe distance away and tried to remain as calm as possible.
“Mister Akatsuki, where were you exactly in the opera at the time the victim fell out of the window?” He asked firm.

The firm yet calm demeanor seemed to force the man to calm down.”I was watching the performance, Lily Ashikawa was one of the lead performers, how could I not?” He stated back to the defensiv state yet still a warning glare. Reishi nearly felt threatened, even more so as the guy approached him now, still with his fists on his sides.

At this moment Fushimi entered the living room. seeing the expression and seemed to come to the same conclusion of a threat:”Mister Akatsuki, I need to ask you if you know of any person that could have wanted to kill him.” He asked firm and shot him his own warning glare. “NO, not that I’ve known.” He quickly says, seemingly affected by the younger one.
“Good, we’re leaving. If you remember anything of importance or calm down enough to talk without nearly punching my superior, I would gladly take a call.” He grabbed the arm of his captain and pulled him to the entrance.
“Weirdo.” He spit out and walked down the stairs.

Only after they were outside the apartment complex did they both come to a stop. “Why?” Reishi asked, slightly irritated. “He nearly punched you, what do you mean why?” Fushimi was scandalized and annoyed, he couldn’t believe he just asked that.
“I was looking forward to that, if he punched me I could have sued him for it!” If Fushimi didn’t know any better he could swear he was pouting and that reply. Shaking his head in disbelief he walked up to the car.”You are draining my energy…”

Reishi shrugged his shoulders and followed him.”He would have deserved it.”
And unlocked the door. Both got in and took a deep breath. “And you moron lectured me about being on my neutral behavior, you were not better up there.” He hissed.
“Seems like you are rubbing off on me.” Was his captain's only reply, which fueled the frustration inside the younger one.”Don’t make this my fault!”

Reishi only sighed and started the engine.”Let’s get going, we had a long day.”
Fushimi sighed himself, he was right about that, looking outside and seeing how the moon was already up. He didn't even realize how fast it turned dark all of a sudden.
“Should I drop you at your apartment?”
“Yes please, I am tired…”

Reishi nodded.”I take it you erased all evidence that you hacked his computer?”
Fushimi nodded.”Do you take me as a beginner?” He closed his eyes.”Still, I hate using these powers.” Reishi smiled slightly. “Your abilities to connect with electrical devices to hack them faster is pretty astonishing.” Fushimi muttered something incoherent and it made his smile only grow a bit wider. “Take a good rest tonight. We will look into it tomorrow.”

The moon was already at its peak when Reishi entered Scepter 4 again, walking to his office he met Awashima on his way.”Captain!” She smiled at him but quickly narrowed her eyes. “Don’t tell me you're working through the night to catch up on the reports filed in by the higher ups?” It was a warning, Reishi knew it…But even so..
“Sorry Seri, but yes I will do exactly that.” The woman sighed deeply.”You are unbelievable.” She crossed her arms.”Reishi, I know you for a long time now, don't overdo it again.” She warned. “I don't want to find you collapsed on the ground again.”
She walked past him, grabbed his noodles he still had and walked to the kitchen.”I heat these up for you.”
Reishi shook his head in exasperation.”You don't need to babysit me.”
“Someone has to look after you if you are too stubborn to do it yourself!”

Feeling called out he hurried into his office, wondering, it was only once that he overdid it. He was a workaholic…

Chapter Text

As the first light started to shine through the curtains of his office did Reishi acknowledge how long he sat at his desk again and worked through piles and piles of files sent in by his supervisors Daikaku Kokujoji and Hisui Nagare. turning off the little lamp that gave him the little light he needed in the night he leaned back in his chair.
Feeling a bit tired he started to sigh and held his head while staring at the ceiling. He was listening in the silence and heard how slowly people entered the building and greeted one another.

Tired, his mind entered a slow state as birds started to chirp by his window. He was able to hear little kids laughing right next to him.
turning his head around he saw them, two boys chasing each other in the room and laughing carefree not yet scarred by this world.
He watched them silently, drowning in a heavy feeling his heart started to cry, unsure of why his mind became foggy and he furrowed his brows.
The two young boys stopped in their tracks and the one that seemed slightly taller grinned wide as he suddenly held something in between his hands.
Turning to the smaller one he wanted to show him something, turning his back to Reishi.
Curious, the smaller one came closer and took a look but as he saw what was between the others hands, did his eyes widen with joy and both of them explode into blue ice cold winds and drowned the whole room in darkness.

Reishi felt his heart skip a beat as he jolted upward and shielded his face from the sudden wind, as it calmed down he felt dread seeping in as he was surrounded by darkness.
His heart now beating fast he stood up and tried to find a way out.
He found none and as time passed his senses started to feel strange and foggy. His body was freezing, he heard nothing and yet he felt like he was being watched.
He suddenly felt a grip on his shoulder and turned around in a panic, seeing nothing, the force on his shoulder started to pull him to the ground and multiplied, first his shoulder then his arm, waist, head. Then someone put his hand over his eyes and he fell to the ground knocking out the air in his lungs.
Reishi could swear he felt like his heart was beating out of his chest, his panic made him try to pull himself out of there but nothing worked. Tears started to form in his eyes leaving a burning feeling and wetting the hand over them.
Screaming didn't help, his body was not able to make a sound.
“No NO NO” his mind begged in a panic and was pleading to make it stop, to get him out of there.
He felt distant.

A knock was what it took to tear him out of this darkness as the room filled with sunlight again. His breathing ragged and heavy he looked around and noticed how he was sitting in his office chair again. Sunlight warming his arm and birds singing from his open window.
As he tried to calm down he turned around to where he saw the kids and saw one of them staring at him. The smaller one. With teary purple eyes.
It took Reishi by surprise but then another knock on his door and he turned to the door as he heard a voice calling for him. “Captain!?”

It was Akiyama. “Come in” He called back and turned back to the kid but the kid was long gone.
What just happened?

With confusion all over his face he noticed the door getting opened and the green haired boy came in.
“You worked through the night again?” Was what came first and brought Reishi back to where he needs to be and shrugged off the unseen confusion.
“Is that the new form of good morning, Akiyama?” He teased the younger one who just smiled at him.
“Well, I take it there is no good morning needed where one never slept, Captain.”
It made Reishi laugh slightly and relaxed him.
Smiling Akiyama shook his head but then the smile fell, and he looked at his Captain with concern.
“Captain I won’t lie to you, but you looked… absent when I came in, like something bothered you, is something the matter?”

Ah, so he did see it, Reishi figured.
“It’s nothing Akiyama:” He reassured him and stretched for a second.
“Just some thoughts, nothing to be concerned about.”
He saw it, the way Akiyama looked at him with disbelief clear in his eyes.
The way he shook his head and oh lord, He knew he was not able to lie to him but the truth would change nothing.
Reishi knew Akiyama would stop prying and both of them were, for just a millisecond, caught in silence as both took a breath and changed the subject.
“But I take it that you have something for me?”

The words reminded the green haired boy why he even came to his office.
It made the Captain smile slightly.
“Ah yes!” He exclaimed and got his phone out.” As you were out yesterday when I received the name list, we decided to already go through them and make groups about who visits who. This is the list!” He held his phone to him. “ Hidaka is already on it to finish small details so you can get the official one.”
Reishi nodded.
“Good work.” He praised the boy, proud of his capable team.
If only the child would know it is not alone…

confusion filled him for not more then a mere second as to where this thought even came from, who even were the kids he just witnessed? getting rid of these thoughts he concentrated on Akiyama.
“Fushimi and I were able to get a copy of every data on mister Akatsukis Computer. We will take a look at that today.” He said and saw the green haired boy smirking. “Sly” He said amused.
”Text me when you find something out on your end.” Reishi stood up and grabbed his jacket.
Akiyama replied with a slight bow and the usual “Understood!” before leaving the room.
As the door closed Reishi could swear he heard a whisper behind himself, oh god let this stop.

He walked towards the door, taking his phone out and writing Fushimi the meeting spott. He decided to ignore the whisper, to not look back.
He really needs a coffee and anyone that declines him that, well he might very well arrest them on the spot.
—-----------------------

Leaning against his car with a steaming hot coffee in his hands he took in the sight of the people walking past him, the rush of day to day life as they continued with theirs and voices that filled the street that were not even talking to one another.
It felt so normal, he never knew it else as the feeling of order and normally filled him, it was blue.

Taking in steps that came his way, he looked into the direction and saw the familiar face of Fushimi who seems to curse out all existing again because it's early in the morning.
“Good morning Fushimi.” He greeted him with which the younger one only growled at.
“Not, stop that….It’s too early to be nice.” He complained and Reishi just shook his head in amusement and reached over to offer him his own coffee.
“Thank you.” He sounded blissed when he saw the coffee, like it’s a brewing from the heavens above.
Reishi could only nod
.
“Good god, I only realized it now.” At these words from the younger one Reishi looked over confused.
“You look like shit, did you even sleep at all?”
the deep sigh that Fushimi got, told him everything he needed to know.
Why did he even ask?
“Idiot!” Cursed Fushimi and shook his head.”We are going through this shit and then you go home and sleep.” His voice was demanding and the mention of sleep made Reishi yawn.
“That…. does sound like a plan.”
Fushimi got his phone out and now started to swipe over the screen.

Reishi only watched him, the Illusion of these two kids still so vivid in his mind, the way they smiled so carefree he envied them but then the winds appeared again and blew around him, like screaming voices loud enough to drown out every noise. Getting drowned in the memory he felt like a hand gripped his heart and made it freeze. Breathing became harder, his body cooled down drastically. The slight breeze of wind outside of his mind made him shiver, his body became numb from the cold. He only felt his rapid beating heart.

“Seriously? you are freezing, it is not even as cold as yesterday!”

The voice of Fushimi started to infiltrate his mind, pulling him out of this icy hurricane he was dangerously close to drown in.

“Captain?”

He knew he should reply. Fushimi noticed the slightest differences in behavior faster than most but breathing was still a difficult task while his heart was beating out of his chest.
Everything seemed so icy blue, cold, lonely, quiet.
Taking in a deep breath he slowly steadied himself, forced his heart to calm down and his breathing to normalize, to get everything back in order.
He felt Fushimi's stare on him and finally, was able to turn around.
“Yes?”
The way Fushimi looked down on his phone irritated him but the younger one gave him an explanation soon after. “You took 2 minutes to reply, Sir. Are you sure you are okay?”
Reishis eyes widened in surprise, it surely wasn't that long…Right?
“Of course I am fine. Merely a bit lost in thought.”
Fushimi gave him a skeptical side stare for a second before he looked back on his phone.
“Thoughts, what thoughts?”
“Not any that you need to concern yourself with, now shall we?”
He got away from the car, coffee in hand and took a sip before he readjusted his glasses, Fushimi notices this as a sign of discomfort, a habit he is fairly sure his captain is not even aware of.
“Sure.” He complied, knowing his Captain would not tell him if he tries now.

Walking down the street they went through the data that they got from mister Akatsukis computer. “It is mostly just junk.” Fushimi muttered under his breath and they both got to a stop at a mall.
“Nothing else?” Reishi asked, “No, Nothing else.” Fushimi answered and Reishi was ready to just leave. But thankfully he didn't have to.
“Wait nevermind, I got something interesting.”
Reishi looked at him expectantly.
“It's a chat message between him and our Victim.” The Ravenette explained and scrolled through.” Seems like we stopped him from deleting everything.” A sly smirk formed on his lips. “I guess he really wanted to get rid of something, although I can't make out what exactly the conversation is about. Our dear friend mister Akatsuki seemed to be really angry.”
He turned his phone around as he started to read out aloud one of the messages that he was not able to delete in time. “You will see, as soon as the truth comes to light you will regret you abandoning her.” Reishi read the message with him and then looked for the date it was sent.
“December 7th.” Fushimi nodded. “That was 2 days ago, a day before the incident took place.” Fushimi nodded in agreement, knowing what his captain would tell him next. “Seems like they stayed in contact after the ‘stabbing in the back’ sort of style he changed into, at least according to mister Akatsuki.”
Fushimi turned his phone back to himself.

“I do wonder who the person is, he was talking about.” Reishi wondered.” Just from the way of phrasing I presume we have to find a woman sadly what she looks like or what name she goes by is unknown, this might be a hard shell to crack.”
A sigh escaped Fushimi.” We might be able to gather more on mister Ashikawas Computer.” He suggested. “It would mean we visit his wife again and need permission to use the computer.” Fushimi growled after these words from Reishi. “Now we need permission? We just did it last time!”
Reishi gave him a warning glare.”That was one time and it was urgent. We can't just always pry into other people's belongings!”

Another growl but Reishi drowned it out as again this feeling of these cold winds got a hold of him but this time they did not try to drag him down, they pulled. And then it was that he felt a burning stare in his back and turned around. Fushimi was giving him a mouthful but he couldn't hear him.
To focused on finding what was watching him, he did not take long to lock eyes with burning amber ones and as he did the ice cold winds got over run by fire. It got bright and instead of the normal cold that drowns his body, he got warm. He got goosebumps and a weird feeling filled him as the fire danced in his mind without care, it was chaotic. So different from the usual blue, it was so damn loud. It filled him with ecstasy and he could not explain why.

His eyes widened a bit as these amber eyes bore right into his soul, the man those eyes belonged to had unruly red hair and looked just like the delinquent type these fires in his mind portrayed. Those eyes and how they watched him, like a lion his prey circled by flames and the lion knows exactly how to get both, his prey and out unscratched. His mind screamed danger, it intrigued him.

But as dangerous as flames may be, as beautiful they were.

He watched as the man looked behind him and then walked off with a small group of people, it reminded him of a lion's pride fitting for the vibe this man goes by.
Reishi could not put into words what he just felt nor what he saw but he felt how his heart skipped a beat filled with the ecstasy that creeped into his mind.

“Oh god no, you better don’t” He heard Fushimi spit out and it made him turn around, helping him to look away.
“What?” He then asked, confused, for as much as he indeed got distracted, he did not know what Fushimi was getting on about now.
“First of all, ain't you the one who told me it is rude to stare?” accused the ravenette his superior and Reishi was not able to deny that.
“Second of all, whatever curiosity or whatever bullshit you just got, stop it. That man and that group of his are known criminals. They call themselves Homra and even though we know of their criminal activity we have nothing on our hands to officially arrest them. The guy you were staring at is Suoh Mikoto, their leader.” He explained and Reishi nodded in understanding and turned around for a second again.
“Homra huh?”

curious about the danger, which that man's Aura infiltrated his mind with, curious about the flames.
He feels it. Knows deep down just how much he got intrigued by the human manifestation of Chaos and how different the red was against the calm and cold blue his orderly life has.
And oh lord, how fascinated he was by these burning amber eyes.

the ringing of a phone stopped him and he turned back to Fushimi
The Ravenette in question got a message and looked at Reishi shortly after. “Seems like your break has to wait, Akiyama got the groups together and needs you.”
Sighing deep he took the last sip out of his coffee and threw the cup into the nearest trash bin.
“Alright. You text me if you find anything else, I’ll go back to the office."
