Chapter 1: Detention
Chapter Text
Beca walked up the stairs of the school and looked at the words taped on the door, "DETENTION DAY! 8:00am - 4:00pm no exceptions".
What kind of bullshit is this, it's not her fault those idiots-
"Bye princess, I'll be here to get you at 4." a females voice said, as a tall blonde with sunglasses hopped out of the passenger side of a Mercedes.
"Nice ride you got there." Beca said, but the girl ignored her and walked up the stairs and went for the handle, "it's locked." Beca said, but she tried anyways, "I said it was locked, why else am I just standing here." Beca scoffed, leaning against a stair rail.
"Could you refrain from talking to me, I try not to talk to people like you." the blonde said, Beca raised a brow, "people like me!?" she was amused by this.
Before the blonde could reply someone else was going up the stairs, "it's locked." the two said at the same time, "jinx." Beca smirked, "ew." the blonde said, before moving further away from Beca, who just shrugged.
"Hey, you ok?" Beca asked the new girl, she was tall, brunette, and wore glasses, a white collared shirt under a sweater vest with slacks. "Yeah, still a little shaken up, but I'll be fine. Thanks again." she said to Beca, "no problem, things like that shouldn't happen. What'd you say your name was again, Stella?"
"Close, it's Stacie." she corrected, "ahh! Stacie that's the one. Good to know, if you ever need help again, my names-" "Beca. I know." Stacie smiled a little, blushing as she looked down and adjusted her glasses.
A few more people came and soon the doors were opened by, John Smith, the principle, who led them to the library. Beca observed the group, there was Stacie-the nerd, blondie-the princess, a redheaded girl with a soccer ball-the jock, another brunette who was super quiet and sat in the back-the introvert.
As they filed into the empty room Beca went for a desk in the back but was soon told otherwise, "Mitchell! Nuh uh, up here, behind Red. I wanna be able to see whatever you're doing." John said, Beca rolled her eyes, "dude why, that's really pervy, what if I'm using the restroom?" Beca asked, "hardy har har, really funny. Sit down. Don't move." he pointed at the desk.
"Welcome to detention, where you'll be from 8 to 4. I'm gonna give you a piece of paper and your are gonna write, what you did to get in here, and how you'll never do it again. It must be at least 2,000 words." he looked over to where Beca was already spam writing one word. "AND, no writing multiple words over and over again. If you fail to complete this, more detention next week, if you talk, another, if you leave, another, if you break any rules, another. Starting now!" he said.
"Can we leave to pee?" Beca asked, "I just said no talking!" "I'm just asking a question." Beca said, "that's a week right there." John said, "come on dude!" "another!" "fuck you." Beca flipped him off, "more!? OK ANOTHER!" he kept adding, "fine add more I could care less!" Beca sat back in her chair arms crossed, "bet! That's more." John laughed humorlessly.
"Just stop Beca." Stacie said from the table across from Beca's, "OH! You too sweater vest? There goes another week for you then! If I here another peep, you're ALL done, five weeks added for each of you." John slammed his hand on the table before walking out, the door slamming behind him.
"You didn't really have to do that ya know." the redhead said, "do what?" Beca ask, putting her feet on the table, "push his buttons like that, it only makes him give you more weeks." she said, "well I don't care. So what's your name Red?" Beca asked.
"Chloe, why?" she finally turned in her seat and Beca's breath hitched. This girl in front of her was so pretty, eyes bluer than the ocean and sky combined. "Oh uh, nothing, it's a pretty name. Hey didn’t you date Tom? Do you still?" Beca winked at her and she scoffed, "don't." Chloe said, turning back around.
"What about you blondie?" Beca asked the girl sitting at the table diagonal from hers, "what?" she took off her shades to look at Beca, "no way, I know you, you're Aubrey Posen. Schools most stuck up bitch! What'd you do to get in here? Word has it you follow all the rules, including rules way outdated." Beca asked.
"Nothing." Aubrey said, "well you had to do something to get here. What was it?" Beca asked, Aubrey gulped loudly looking at the others who had now turned their attention on her, she chuckled a little, "I- it I, well I I. I nothing really. I just. I cheated on a test ok!" Aubrey blurted out, "jeez wasn't so hard to say was it?" Beca said.
"What about you red, what you do?" Beca asked, "my names, Chloe." she said, "I know, but you never answered my question." Beca looked at her expectedly. Chloe turned a deep shade of red and shook her head, "it's not important what I did, what'd you do?" Chloe asked, "yeah, what did you do? Since you seem to care so much about others." Aubrey interjected.
"I beat somebody's ass. See unlike you two, I'm not hiding anything." Beca looked pointedly at Aubrey, then turned all the way around in her chair. "HEY!" she got the quiet girls attention, "what'd you do, threaten to shoot up the school?" Beca laughed at her own joke, the others chuckling a little too, with the exception of Stacie, "hey, that's not funny. Just cause she's quieter than most doesn't make her a threat." Stacie said, "yeah yeah, but anyways, for real, what'd you get time for." Beca asked again.
"I..." she said, "wait what? I didn't hear you." Beca asked again, "I had a..." the girl said again, "dude speak up!" Beca shook her head, "I had a secret underground homework chain, I'd give people answers for money!" she said exasperated.
"Idiot. Why would you do that, might as well ask for detention straight up. Everyone knows those never work." Aubrey said, "you're only saying that because you aren't smart enough to do something like that." Beca said, "I'm smarter than you!" Aubrey defended, "well I'm not the one who had to cheat on a test am I? No." Beca retorted.
"Guys we shouldn't argue, lets just do our work and we can leave." Stacie interfered, "shut the fuck up Stacie no one asked you." Beca said, "sorry." she looked down sadly, "don't talk to her like that." Aubrey said, "why do you care, girls like you could care less about nerds, or 'people like me'." Beca used her fingers in an air quotes motion. "You know nothing about me." Aubrey said, "I know that you fucked Tom Miller. Oh wait, isn't that Red's boyfriend. Shocker Shocker, you're not as innocent as you seem." Beca sat back and waited for the drama to unfold.
"How do you know that!?" Aubrey asked furiously, "Tom is my neighbor and keeps his blinds open, also he told a lot of kids in our neighborhood that goes to our school, he was all like, 'Aubrey Posen, oh yeah I hit that' disgusting honestly. Apparently you are also very freaky." Beca chuckled. "Shut it Mitchell!" Aubrey said.
After getting over the shock Chloe finally said something, "you did, WHAT!? You slept with my boyfriend!? You WHORE!" Chloe stood from her seat, "oh that's gotta sting." Beca instigated, "Chloe I swear he never said anything, he said you two were broken up and that is was fine. I never would have otherwise. I swear I'm not like that, you're my friend." Aubrey stood up and looked at Chloe face to face, "please, define 'friend' we haven't talked since 8th grade. You went off and became friends with the popular girls, leaving me to fend for myself." Chloe crossed her arms and looked at a wall.
"Well your the one who ran off to go 'play ball', joining the soccer team. Like a true fag." Aubrey matched Chloe's stance, "I'm not gay and you know it!" Chloe shouted, "not what Jessica said when you two were lip-locking 8th grade year." Aubrey tutted, "we were playing spin the bottle Aubrey, what did you expect?" Chloe said, "well you put on quite the show." Aubrey scoffed, "THAT'S WHAT IT WAS! A show for the boys who thought girls kissing was super hot. Let it go. Or what, maybe you're just jealous it wasn't you, maybe you're the one who wanted to be in Jess's spot." Chloe pointed at Aubrey, "no! I just...it's not like that, I'm not a homofag, faggot, whatever it is, I'm not it!" Aubrey took in a sharp breath.
"You shouldn't say those words, they're offensive and derogatory." Stacie said quietly, almost as a whisper, as she worked on her work. She looked up when she felt the others eyes on her, "oh um, sorry, I'm just saying, it's rude. But you can do whatever you want, you know first amendment and all..." she rambled.
"Are you gay?" Beca asked Stacie who froze, "uhh, I mean n-no, w-why?" she asked, "well what happened yesterday, I thought you know, you didn't wanna, because you were gay. Most girls would have just thrown themselves at him." Beca said, "oh, well I like to focus on school. Boys are a distraction." Stacie shook her head. "You're really pretty you know, you could have a lot of people head over heels for you if you tried." Beca eyed her up and down and smirked.
"What do you mean?" Stacie asked genuinely confused, "you don't see it, do you? For a kid as smart as you...nevermind." Beca derailed the conversation, "what about you two? You good now?" Beca asked Aubrey and Chloe, "not 'good', I'm just over it. There's no loyal people left in the world obviously." Chloe sat down, "I'm really sorry Chlo." Aubrey tried, "do not call me that." Chloe said coldly, before she put her hands on her desk and laid her head on top of them.
"This sucks. I should be at a spa right now, with a mimosa in one hand and my phone in the other while I get the tan I dream of. But no, I'm here with a bunch of...ergh!! I hate this day!" Aubrey groaned, "no offense-but all the offense-you're not that great either, do you think I wanna be here with you? The only reason I'm here is because-"
"it doesn't matter, just do your work!" Stacie yelled, interrupting Beca, looking slightly upset, as she shook her head towards Beca. "Ok, what is going on between you two, all morning you've been acting weird, talking about something that I suppose happened before today?" Aubrey asked, "it's nothing, ok!" Stacie stood and walked off into the bookshelves with tears in her eyes.
"What happened?" Aubrey asked Beca who held up her hands, "not my place to say, not my story to tell." she said. They heard the sounds of Stacie crying after a while and started to worry.
"You should go check on her." Beca told Aubrey, "why me? You know her I don't." Aubrey said, "well this is your chance to get to know her, also I'm not good at making people feel better, I typically make them feel worse." Beca said, "fine." and with that Aubrey went towards Stacie.
"You didn't have to come." Stacie said still sniffling, "I know, but I wanted to." Aubrey sat next to Stacie on the floor, "you wanna talk about it?" Aubrey asked, "no, can we just sit here?" Stacie asked, "yeah." Aubrey nodded. After a bit they ended up turning towards each other, "um, thanks. I know you probably don't sit on the floor consoling nerds while they cry often." Stacie said, "no, only the pretty ones..." Aubrey looked her in the eyes and really for the first time noticed her.
She seen something other than the frames around them, "your glasses." Aubrey said, "yeah, what about em?" Stacie asked, "they don't have any prescription in them. They're fake?" Aubrey said, but it came out more as a question, "yeah." Stacie took them off, "20/20 vision." She shrugged.
"Why do you wear them?" Aubrey asked, "to fit the stereotype, nerds wear glasses, and all I've ever been called was a nerd." Stacie answered, "that's not true." Aubrey stated, matter of factly. "What's not?" Stacie asked, "you don't really wear them for that reason. Do you?" Aubrey asked, "I-"
"You guys ok back here?" Beca asked, appearing from the other area. "Oh, um yeah we're good." Aubrey stood up helping Stacie up as the girl put her glasses back on.
There was a lot to be said, and sooner than later it would be.

"So what were you two talking about back there?" Beca asked, as the three walked back towards the man area,
"Nothing really."
"Stuff."
Aubrey and Stacie said simultaneously, "well now I'm confused, was it something or nothing?" Beca looked between the two, "yes." Aubrey answered simply, "wow, that helped me so much." Beca said sarcastically. "Well why do you care so much?" Aubrey asked as they reached their respective tables once more, "I don't, I'm just bored, and hungry, anyone got a snack?" Beca asked, "no, and if I did, I definitely wouldn't share with you." Aubrey said.
"I do, it's nothing good though." Stacie said, pulling out a lunch box, "at this point I could care less, gimme." Beca motioned for the box, and Stacie gave it up, "uh, I don't think we should be eating in here." Chloe shifted uncomfortably, "why, it's like 12, and I haven't eaten yet, trust me a hangry Beca Mitchell is not one you want to have the displeasure of meeting." Beca said as she dug through the box.
"You were right, this stuff is what you give old people or five year old's. What is this? Jell-O, a PB&J, and graham crackers. Dude you needed to update this yesterday, no fuck yesterday, when we graduated from fucking fifth grade!" Beca threw the box on Stacie's table, but not before taking the graham crackers.
"I know, but my mom wants me to stay healthy. She says all that other junk gives you diabetes and makes you fat." Stacie said, "she's not wrong. I'd hate to get fat, I couldn't even imagine it. I had a fat friend once, she's skinny now though cause she stopped being such a pig all the time." Aubrey said heartlessly.
"You are being really insensitive Aubrey, she could have been really struggling and you'd never known, all you know is to judge. But I guess that's how you were raised, right? In a judgmental home comes a judgmental bitch." Chloe said angrily, Aubrey rolled her eyes, "whatever Chloe, it's not like you could ever relate to being fat, you were born to be a size 0. Born with the worlds most perfect body. You've got, perfect boobs, perfect legs, perfect abs, a perfect face-"
"Could you just shut up! I'm not perfect, nobody is perfect, no matter how hard they try, no matter what they do, no matter what they eat...or don't in some cases, just...nobody is perfect." Chloe said, wiping a stray tear.
The four sat in an uncomfortable silence for a few seconds, the only sounds being the crunching of Beca's crackers, "do you have to crunch so loud!?" Chloe turned to look at Beca, who had stopped mid chew a little wide eyed as she looked at all the eyes that had turned on her, "sorry," she said.
A few minutes later-the crackers long gone-John came in, "Does anyone need to pee?" everyone's hand went up, "go. I'll be back in here in five minutes, and if you're not here, I'll see you next week." he sent them off and went back in his office.
All the girls walked out of the bathroom and started to head towards the library when Beca stopped, "what's wrong?" Chloe asked, "now's my chance." Beca smirked deviously, turning in the opposite direction of where they were going, Chloe, Stacie, and Emily all followed leaving Aubrey standing there jaw slacked, "w-where are you going, the library is the other way! Why are you guys following her? Uh, wait up!" Aubrey ran to catch up.
They stopped in front of Beca's locker where she opened it and pulled out a brown bag, "what is that?" Aubrey asked skeptically, "you'll see." Beca winked, she opened the bag and pulled out a small baggie with weed in it, "alright les go!" Beca ran off, Chloe and Aubrey behind her. Stacie stood there shocked, "drugs, she has drugs...do you approve of this." she looked at Emily who just shrugged, running after the other three.
They ran through the halls before they seen John at a water fountain, "shit!" Beca whispered, coming to a stop. She motioned for them to go back the other way, "come on, lets go through the creative arts hall." she said, "no, the science hall, it's quicker." Aubrey intervened, "trust me, I know. This way." Beca pointed towards the creative arts hall, but Aubrey shook her head running the other way, Chloe and Stacie followed, and soon Emily. "Fuck!" Beca ran after them.
"Oh no!" Aubrey said as they came to a set of double doors, both locked, "I fucking told you! I know this school backwards and forwards. The science hall is locked every weekend." Beca said angrily, "you should've trusted her." Emily said, "you're right, I'm sorry. But we'll never make it back now, not without being caught. We're ruined." Aubrey sighed, "no, we're not, I am. Come here legs." Beca put the baggie in Stacie's bra and ran down the hall before anyone could ask a question.
"Yo! Come and get me! I'm being bad!" Beca yelled through the halls as she ripped posters off the walls, John spotted her and grabbed her by the arm, "hey!" Beca jerked away, "what the hell are you doing Mitchell?" John asked, "what's it look like, I'm having the time of my life John, lighten up." Beca smirked, "it's Mr. Smith, to you." he pulled her down the hall into a closet and sat her on some stacked boxes.
"You think you're so big and bad huh? Well news flash! You're not! You are the scum on the bottom of my shoe, nothing but a problem, and when you graduate next year and realize no one cares about you, you'll wish you learned something, got education to get into a good college and get a good job. What do you want to be when you graduate?" he looked her dead in the eyes, "music producer." Beca hardened her gaze, "oh that's rich! HA! You want to be somebody as big as Marshmello or Alan Walker, but all you'll ever amount to is a micky D's worker. You worthless. Piece. Of. Scum." John seethed, Beca looked at him and scoffed taking her jacket off and throwing it at his face, he picked it up, looked at it and held it walking out of the closet locking it behind him.
Beca sat there, thinking about what he said and soon started to believe him. Everyone in her life ever, has said that to her, maybe it was true. She looked up at the ceiling and closed her eyes trying to clear her mind, when she opened them she smirked, "Bingo." she whispered, standing on the boxes reaching for the vent.
John walked into the library and observed the scene, Aubrey was on her phone, Chloe was rolling a ball back and forth on the table between her hands, Stacie was cleaning her glasses, and Emily was reading a book. He scoffed, picking up a box and taking each item from the girls, placing it in the box, "hey! I need those!" Stacie reached for her glasses, "shut it! This isn't fun time, this isn't time to play or be social. I don't know if you've noticed but Mitchell isn't here, that's because she thought it would be fun to run around the halls, screaming her heart out. But that's not what we're here for. So you will sit here and write your damn PAPER!" John walked out the library and into his office slamming the door.
"Hey guys."
"AHHH!" the four screamed, turning in their seats to see Beca standing behind them smirking, "jeez, you scared me!" Stacie placed a hand over her heart, "where were you? I was worried." Chloe asked, "you were worried about me? Awe, that's cute." Beca said, walking toward Stacie, "that's not what I meant, I-" Chloe huffed.
"Products please." Beca held her hand out in front of Stacie, "oh! Here." she reached in her shirt and pulled out the bag, "oooh it's still warm." Beca wiggled her eyebrows. Beca took the bag and went to the back of the library with her lighter, "you guys can come if you want!" she yelled to them, Chloe was the first to leave shrugging casually. Two minutes passed and Emily stood up, waving to Aubrey and Stacie, "it's nothing personal." she left quickly. "Well, it is just weed." Aubrey stood up, "it could have bad side effects though." Stacie reasoned, "well, you'll never know what you don't try." Aubrey stood up and held her hand out for Stacie, she hesitated before taking it, standing up. "You’re right."

Chapter Text
"Woah! I feel funny!" Stacie chuckled, "that means it's working!" Beca laughed, "I only feel hungry." Aubrey frowned, "that also means it's working." Beca assured her.
Chloe then looked worried, "wait, h-hunger is a side affect?" she asked just as she was about to take a hit from the rolled plant. "Yup! Doesn't really matter to me though cause I'm always hungry." Beca shrugged, "or are you always high and don't know...?" Emily made a motion with her hands to emphasize a 'mind blown' expression.
"Woah, that's deep dude." Beca shook her head in disbelief, meanwhile Chloe still looked worried, while still holding the blunt, "what's wrong?" Beca asked noticing that Chloe still hadn't done anything, "um, I think I'll pass on this." she handed it to Beca, "don't be such a Debbie downer Chloe, if I can do it so can you." Aubrey said, "no thanks, the soccer team does random drug test, I don't wanna get in trouble." Chloe shook her head, "it leaves your system in like three days." Aubrey reasoned, "I said no! This is peer pressure you know!" Chloe shouted, "jeez Chlo, no need to yell, I was just trying to get you to loosen up." Aubrey put her hands up stepping down.
"No, because you always do this, you push and push and push, until finally people do what you want. Just like you pushed and pushed and pushed until I played that dumb game of spin the bottle and then got pissed with me because I played the game and kissed another girl! This is why it sucks being around you and why no one wants to be your real fucking friend! And my name, is Chloe!" Chloe stood up, storming off into the bookshelves.
"Damn Aubrey, what'd you do to her?" Beca watched as Chloe sped off, Aubrey just shrugged, "I'll be right back." Beca stood up and went after Chloe.
She found the girl sitting on a set of stairs that went to the second floor of the library, and walked over to her, putting a hand on her shoulder, "don't." Chloe shrugged the hand off, "sorry, I was just gonna ask if you were ok." Beca sat next to her, "I thought you didn't comfort people, only made them worse?" Chloe rose an eyebrow, "typically yes, but this time is different." Beca eyes flickered down to Chloe's lips quickly, "oh?" Chloe whispered quietly, shifting a little closer, "yeah." Beca swallowed, leaning in.
Just then Chloe jumped up quickly, moving away, "what're you doing!?" Chloe asked, pacing back and forth, "I'm not gay, I don't like you, we're not- this isn't happening." Chloe shook her head motioning between herself and Beca. Beca stood up and folded her arms over her chest, "you moved in! You were sending signals." Beca squinted, "you read them wrong." Chloe stopped pacing and stood in front of a wall, leaning her back against it, "really?" Beca challenged, "yeah!" Chloe breathed out, "then what if I do this-" Beca went over to Chloe pushed her further into the wall and kissed her.
"What the fuck!?" Chloe pushed Beca away a second later, "you kissed me back." Beca said, "no I didn't!" Chloe made a show of wiping her lips, "yeah you did." Beca smirked. Chloe frowned at the smirk and for a second wanted to kiss it off her stupid face, "oh shut up!" Chloe walked over to her and pulled her in, kissing her right on the lips, before pulling back quickly, seeing a shocked look on Beca's face, "you didn't kiss me back, guess you aren't worth it." Chloe turned to leave but Beca grabbed her arm, pulling her back and kissing her.
This time both girls kissed back.
"Where have you two been?" Aubrey asked, looking between the two as they came back to the lounge area side by side. "We were talking." Beca smirked, sitting down on one of the chairs, putting her legs over one of the arms. Aubrey shrugged before turning to Chloe.
"Chloe, I just wanted to say how sorry I am, I'm sorry that I was such a bad friend and even more so that I treated you so foul, I had no right." Aubrey apologized sincerely, "who knows, maybe what you said held a little bit of truth." Chloe looked at Beca who looked at her smirking.
"You know, that's why I'm here actually." Aubrey said quietly, fiddling with her fingers, "what happened?" Stacie asked, "I got caught...having sex, with another girl." Aubrey confessed, gasps were heard from everyone, "dude! You made such a big fuss about 'people like me' but you're like me?" Beca scoffed, "I was so scared to admit it, if my dad ever found out h-he'd never love me, hell he barely does now." Aubrey wiped at her tears, "you should see my dad, he beats me whenever he has a little to much to drink." Beca shook her head.
"Really?" Chloe looked at Beca sadly, "yeah, says I need to learn my lesson." Beca sighed, "what'd you do to get here?" Beca asked Chloe, changing the conversation, "I was caught doing drugs in the girls locker room." Chloe shared, "wait, but you said you didn't want to do any weed because of the random drug testing." Emily looked confused.
"That was a lie." Chloe took in a deep breath, "the truth is, I didn't want to do it because I didn't want to be hungry after. I...struggle a little when it comes to eating, and I just feel so disgusting and fat and-" Chloe sobbed and Beca quickly got up to comfort her, "I'm sorry, I just that's what I meant when I said I'm not perfect, nobody is." Chloe wiped her tears and let Beca hold her before she pulled back.
"I had no idea Chloe, I'm so sorry, I really wish I was a better friend...better person, I could have been there for you. I should have been there for you." Aubrey looked down sadly, continuing to play with her fingers in her lap.
"I'm not gonna say I forgive you or that it's ok, because it's not, and I don't fully forgive you. But, I understand, and in time I may find it in me to forgive you all the way." Chloe said, the faintest hint of a smile, "I get it, as long as you know that I mean it." Aubrey nodded understandingly.
Some more time passed, the weed being passed around until it was gone, and everyone-including Chloe, was at peak relaxation.
"Hey Stace?" Aubrey turned to the tall girl, "yeah?" Stacie looked at her, "what did you ever do to end up here? We all shared our stories but you never did." Aubrey pointed out, Stacie visually stiffened, and Aubrey sat up seeing her aura change, "you don't have to share if you don't want to, forget I asked." she looked at her apologetically, hopping she didn't cross a line.
"I-it's fine, I think I can trust you." Stacie took a deep breath, "It was on Friday..."
Friday after school
Stacie packed up her backpack with her science books and got ready to leave the library, she always stayed a little later at school to study, she normally left around the time that the football team finished practice, much like today.
She didn't have a car, and her parents worked late so most nights she had to walk home, it was a 15 minute walk so she didn't mind, she liked to stay fit so the extra steps never hurt.
On this particular day, the football team had a team meeting, so they didn't need to take showers in the locker room or anything. When Stacie left the building out of the main doors, she spotted Tom Miller, the football captain, and raging dickhead, talking to his friends until he looked up to see her. She had accidentally left her glasses at home that day, so she looked fairly different, and had received a ton of looks from guys. Tom was no different.
"Hey baby!? Where you headed?" Tom ran over to her, "um, home." Stacie kept her eyes on the ground, walking forward, that was until she felt a hand grab her arm, she looked up and Tom was smiling smugly at her. "Can I help you?" she asked, her stomach turned and she had a bad feeling about where this was heading, "actually, can I help you?" Tom wiggled his eyebrows with a nasty smirk. Stacie wasn't stupid, far from, she knew what an innuendo or hitting on someone sounded like.
"No thank you." she kindly declined, Tom's smirk feel and was replaced with a scowl, "I don't think you understand, would you like a ride home?" he asked forcefully, Stacie shook her head, "n-no thanks, I can walk." her voice shook slightly, "you must be new. My name's Tom, star quarterback, football team captain, really rich. What I want, I get, and I want you." Tom said, voice leveled in a dangerously calm way, a way that told Stacie she wasn't getting home in 15 minutes.
She gulped as she shoved her hands in her jacket pocket, "I'm not new, I just am not interested, so can I please go home?" she asked in a small voice, Tom chuckled humorlessly, "no." he shook his head and pushed her off the sidewalk and to the side of the school building behind some dumpsters. "Please...don't do this." Stacie begged as tears ran down her face.
"Don't cry, it's such a shame whenever they cry." Tom used the back of his hands to wiped the tears from her face, "don't scream. I don't wanna hurt you...but I will if I have too." to emphasize his point he wrapped his large hands around her neck and applied enough pressure to make Stacie scared and instill fear, without leaving marks or cutting off airflow.
When he removed his hand, he untucked and unbutton Stacie's shirt, it was simple white button up tucked into a flowy black skirt, he then pushed up her bra. Stacie let out a strangled sob that she tried to hold back, as he played with her chest, he kissed her neck and chest before unbuttoning his jeans and pulling them down along with his boxers.
"Please, I won't tell anyone, just don't." Stacie begged as much as she could, "no fun there." Tom said as he pushed Stacie's skirt up, moving her panties to the side. Stacie sobbed louder as he readied himself to enter her, he clapped his hand down over her mouth, but not before she screamed for help, lucky for her Beca happened to be walking past at that moment and went to investigate the sound.
Stacie seeing her and an opportunity bit Tom's hand forcing him to yelp and pull it back, "help!" she yelled at Beca who at first looked ready to turn and run away, but then stopped and ran over to the pair, "yo, dude!" Tom turned around and Beca's fist was quick to connect with his face. Tom flew to the ground and Stacie stepped off to the side, adjusting her clothes and watching as Beca beat the shit out of Tom. She was on top of him, punching him hit after hit, then she stood up and kicked him in the face, and stomped on his chest and stomach, "don't. Rape. Girls! No. Means. No!" she emphasized every word with a stomp.
"REBECA MITCHELL!" John appeared from around the school and pushed Beca back, as he helped the bruised and battered boy up, "what is going on here!?" John asked angrily, "this bitch just attacked me! For no reason!" Tom played the innocent role. "No reason my ass! He was-"
"Don't!" Stacie was quick to cut Beca off, "but-" Beca stopped when Stacie shook her head, a pleading look on her face, "that's what I thought. Detention, both of you. Come on Tom, let's get you fixed up." John said to the boy who swayed back and forth in pain. "Detention!? Me!? Why!?" Stacie yelled, "yes detention. Because Beca was beating someone up, and you watched, you were on the scene of the crime which means you must have been involved, and since you don't seem so keen on telling the story, you will face time because I suspect some no good things were going on back here." John then walked off with Tom, leaving the girls to ponder over what just happened.
Stacie just sobbed as she wrapped her arms around herself, and Beca kicked the brick wall, "fuck! I hate that kid!" she growled, Beca then turned to Stacie, "hey dude? Are you ok? Did he hurt you or...actually penetrate?" Beca asked softly, "n-no, thank god you were there, he didn't get further than touching my chest." Stacie wiped her face, "I'm glad I could help. Need a ride home, I got a motorcycle and an extra helmet?" Beca offered, Stacie hesitated, "don't worry, I'm not gonna hurt you. I can walk you home if you prefer." Beca tried instead, "alright." Stacie nodded.
Beca grabbed her bike, and walked it along the sidewalk beside Stacie, "what's your name anyways? I don't think I've seen you around, although you do look slightly familiar." Beca notioned, "Stacie Conrad. We have English together, I um, I normally wear glasses and sit in the third row behind that kid Greg." Stacie said, "oh shit. That's you! Damn." Beca smirked, eyebrows raised high.
"I don't mean to be forward, especially after what just happened, but you look different without those chunky frames." Beca said as she looked at Stacie intently, sure enough it was the same girl who rose her hand to answer almost every question and wore the nerdiest of outfits. Beca never payed her much attention, but occasionally she'd see past those frames and notice how symmetrical and perfect Stacie's face was, but she never dwelled on that enough to remember, she was also high almost everyday so...that spoke for itself.
"Oh." Stacie forced a neutral look on her face, "what? Not a fan of compliments?" Beca raised a brow, "I just-forget it. This is me." Stacie pointed to a house a few steps away, "thank you, for everything." Stacie gave Beca a quick hug and walked the last steps to her house.
"Holy shit Stacie! That's fucked up!" Aubrey said, mouth gaped.
"He is such a disgusting little pig, I wish I knew what kind of a person he was before we started dating. If I wasn't already gonna break up with him, I definitely am now." Chloe said, voice full of detest for the boy.
"I can't believe this, why didn't you tell Mr. Smith?" Aubrey asked, moving closer to Stacie, "Tom is the star quarterback, he brings in the most sponsors, and is super rich. I'm a nobody. Who would believe me, or at the very least, what would really happen if I did say something, Tom gets a slap on the wrist and I'm the attention grabbing whore looking for pity and maybe a check. The last thing Harvard or Yale or Princeton wants is someone with a dramatic history. That'll be the first thing to come up on my record." Stacie shook her head.
She already knew the cards were stacked against her, so did everyone else in the room, doesn't mean it didn't hurt any less though.
"I used to think life was so black and white." Emily started and everyone looked at the quiet girl. "I scammed kids...rich jerks who had more than enough money. I would give them fake answerers for hundreds of dollars. When people caught on, and realized they were being scammed, they told on me, that's how I got caught. I did it because it felt good, but also because I thought that was the only way to make up for the divide in the hierarchy. Steal from the rich, give to the poor." Emily said.
"Now I'm seeing that there's so much grey-where black and white mix-like you Aubrey, the perfect example. You're a trust fund baby, haven't worked a day in your life, everything is handed to you. Yet your father is displeased with you, your mother is oblivious to the divide in the household and you are in a home where you can't express yourself, where anything outside of tradition is shunned." Emily paused, turning to Beca.
"Then you. This hard badass act to cover up for the fact that you're scared, you're scared what will happen when you graduate, that you won't succeed, that your father will continue his evil ways. That jacket you where everyday, covers up the bruises and scars he's given you right? Those-" she pointed at the healing bruises and a few smaller cuts on Beca's arms, "are permanent reminders of how you're raised in a place where you're unwelcomed." Emily shook her head sadly.
"Chloe you're just battling yourself, your inner demons, everyone sees you as this 'perfect' angel who could never do wrong, but everyday after lunch I hear you bending over the toilet letting everything you shoved down in front of your friends resurface. Why? Is it because you've been told that you need to fit this stereotype, or because of the toxic friendships and relationships you involve yourself in where everyone around you tells you how perfect you are and you want to please them." Emily wondered aloud, she didn't want-nor wait for a reply, moving on to Stacie.
"Oh Stacie, where do I begin. You're so pretty, yet you hide behind a mask-or what others see as glasses...for a while I've been trying to figure out your angle you know. I mean you three-" she looked at Beca, Aubrey, and Chloe, "are easy-easier I'll say. To figure out. Neglected, hurting, scared, faking. All things hidden behind exteriors, that's what all four of you have in common I'll say. But you three's are more mental exteriors, façades, if you will. Stacie however, yours is physical, which throws the pattern. So it's hard to know what you're hiding. I was reading a book today, and it talked about anchors, things that keep you grounded, it said it could be a saying, a person, or a thing. Glasses. They're your anchor, while being your mask." Emily decided.
"I don't think I follow." Stacie squinted, though she kinda did, she knew what Emily was playing at, she didn't have her glasses on now, and felt extremely vulnerable.
"You're a stereotype, but you're more than one. Let's start with the one you play into, it's more simple, hell now that I think about it, it's your façade. The nerd/Brainiac. You are more than smart, you're a genius, you're younger than everyone in this room because you skipped a grade-bet no one else knew that-even then you take almost all AP classes, that's some serous commitment. You love school, you love science, you love being smart. That's not hard to see, you've been that way since you were young, so you played into it, you chose to be the nerd, the future Valedictorian." Emily said, now pacing the room as everyone watched to see where this was going.
"Yeah? What's so wrong with wanting to be smart, it's not like I'm cocky, arrogant, or just plain annoying about it. I don't think I'm better than anyone." Stacie defended, "yeah you don't, but that's the thing. You aren't all of those things when you totally could be and no one would be able to say anything about it." Emily shrugged, "what do you mean?" Stacie asked.
"The stereotype you run from...I know what it is, but it took me a while. You can dance, sing, and have natural beauty and the height to be a high fashion model. And of course overall you are stunningly beautiful. But you don't won't people to know that. But why is the question that I beg. why would someone who has it all not want anyone to know, why would they choose to be bullied, why would they choose a life of seldom happiness at school? It's because you don't want to end up like your mom...or sister, Alena is her name right?" Emily asked, and Stacie nodded slowly.
"Wait! Alena Conrad is your sister? As in my friend, the cheerleader/dancer, Alena Conrad?" Aubrey asked shocked, "dude I knew you looked familiar yesterday! And I could've sworn I'd been to your house before!" Beca gaped. "Alena is her twin sister, did you guys know that?" Emily looked around, "no way. How come I've never seen you two together?" Aubrey asked Stacie, but Emily answered.
"Because of the stereotype of course! She didn't want to be seen as the bimbo, the girl with all beauty no brains, she also didn't want to be over clouded by her sisters dazzling personality. She did what she could to not look like her sister, as luck would have it, they have pretty distinct faces up close, Alena as some would say is the 'prettier' twin, steely green eyes, lighter brunette hair and is just a smidge taller than Stacie. Not to mention the piercings." Emily told the group.
"So what!? My twin is super hot and stuff, she's super popular and doesn't look my way when we see each other in the hall, she doesn't walk home with me and our parents adore her, what does that have to do with the world being black and white-or grey for that matter!?" Stacie asked, clearly getting upset.
"Because, all of us, are that grey. That mixed up in between of black and white, not quite knowing where we fit. Beca, the scared on the inside, rebel on the outside. That's a pretty big mix up. Aubrey, the adored princess at school, the overlooked repressed child at home. Mixed. Chloe, broken, sad, and confused in there, seen as happy, 'perfect', and loving out here. Talk about a grey area. Then you Stacie. Hiding other parts of you in fear of only being seen as one thing, in fear of being compared with someone you've been compared to for your whole life, while you portray this simple easy to identify part of yourself. Grey, grey, grey. It's all so mixed, so wrong, so tantalizing." Emily breath out.
"How do you know all this stuff about us?" Beca asked skeptically, "because I'm an observer Beca, I observe. I see and hear what others don't. I'm here I'm there, I'm everywhere, I'm nowhere. No one cares about me or what I do, so I use that to my advantage to learn others. Out of all the kids in our school, you three are for sure the most in the grey area, walking around acting as one person while deep down you know you're not that person." Emily revealed.
"So what, you stalk people and tell them things they already know about themselves, you make things that they're already fighting more apparent and throw it in their face?" Chloe asked, folding her arms over her chest.
"No, I just share what I know-think-to see if I'm right. Based on your reactions, I am." Emily sat back down.
"We're all fighting things, and we currently have two hours to talk it out before we go back to pretending like we don't know each other exist. Before miss sunshine goes back to her soccer friends, and princess goes back to Alena and the cheerleaders, while me, Beca, and Stacie go back to merely surviving high school." Emily finished as she leaned back in her chair, head hanging over the back of it.
"Would you do that?" Stacie asked quietly, "do what?" Chloe asked, "would you all go back to the lives that have been silenced for these last few hours, act like how this day feels-call it a fever dream?" Stacie looked around at the group of girls, "honestly?" Aubrey asks, "we haven't lied yet so why start now right?" Stacie chuckled haphazardly, "maybe." Aubrey settled on.
"Be honest, honest Aubrey, 'maybe' is being nice, what she means is, she'll go back to her homophobic friends, Chloe will go back to being in denial, you'll hang with those nerdy fucks of yours and I'll fight my way to graduation. We'll never talk again, and what happens in this library stays in this library. So let's do the shit we can't do later now, and move the fuck on." Beca rolled her eyes, standing up, taking Chloe's hand and leading her back to where they were earlier when they kissed.
"What're you doing?" Chloe asked, "I thought I made it pretty clear, I'm doing what I can't later." Beca smirked, "you are such a dick you know, you could have been nicer to Stacie, less of a douche." Chloe deadpanned, "well if it makes you a dick to tell the truth I guess I'll have to be one." Beca half shrugged. Chloe just looked at Beca, Beca looking back at her, it was like the world went still, radio silent, and all of time slowed.
Beca leaned up and kissed Chloe with force, but also with an added tenderness. Chloe kissed her back, moving her arms to wrap loosely around Beca's neck when said girls hands went to rest on her hips. Beca pulled Chloe closer, slipping her tongue into her mouth, Chloe moaning softly when Beca nipped at her lip a little, Beca dominated the kiss, moving Chloe to press her back into a near wall, she kissed along her jaw before moving to her neck, leaving a mark in her wake.
"Wait...fuck." Chloe moaned, pulling back slightly, "what?" Beca asked, still sucking at her neck, "we can't-right here." Chloe said, all while pulling Beca closer, "why not?" Beca asked, "because...wrong...dirty...fuck." Chloe's brain melted with every kiss and suck Beca made toward her neck.
"If you want me to stop, just say that," Beca moved her hand to unbutton Chloe's jeans, sliding her hand inside with practiced eased, "otherwise, try to keep quiet." she kissed Chloe deeply again, as she let her fingers slip into Chloe's underwear, she wasted no time using her nimble fingers to circle Chloe's clit, applying pressure in all the right places, "Beca..." Chloe breathed, "yes?" Beca asked in a deep sensual voice, "I want you." Chloe said finally, as Beca's fingers teased her entrance, before finally she pushed them in and pumped them in a steady rhythm.
Chloe held back every moan that bubbled up, biting her lip hard enough to draw blood, she then kissed Beca, forcing the girl to swallow every sound that eventually poured out as she came undone around Beca's fingers, once Beca helped Chloe ride out her bliss she pulled her fingers back and licked them clean while Chloe watched, mouth open, whimpering lowly, "you taste so good." Beca whispered in her ear, before she kissed her one last time.
The two girls walked back to the lounge area where Stacie and Aubrey were in deep conversation, sitting super close shoulder to shoulder while they looked at something on Stacie's phone. Emily was no where to be seen and the girls shrugged it off, she probably didn't like being a third wheel to the very obvious sexual tension these two on the couch had going on.
"Hey guys. Where's Emily?" Beca flopped down on the couch adjacent to the one the other two were on, Chloe sitting beside her and snuggling close, "she went to find some food." Aubrey answered, not even looking up, "oh, sweet." Beca nodded.
"Then you just wanna do this, and boom, you've created your own college portfolio." Stacie said, clicking things on her phone before looking up at Aubrey, who already had her eyes on the girl, "um, It's uh, really s-simple." Stacie said, eyes flashing to pink supple lips, "uh huh." Aubrey nodded, looking at Stacie's lips herself. Aubrey then cleared her throat, looking back at the door opening and seeing Emily run in with some snacks.
"Dude you are a lifesaver!" Beca meet her halfway and took a pack of swiss-rolls, opening them and biting into one of the creamy desserts, "mhh!" she moaned in delight, "this shit, is enough to make me wanna do hellish things. I tell ya." Beca sat back down next to Chloe, "want one?" Beca offered, "no thanks." Chloe shook her head.
"You have to eat you know, it's not healthy to do what you're doing. There are healthier ways to throw some weight off." Beca said softly, "I know." Chloe looked away, "as long as you do." Beca said, she grabbed her hand for a quick second before letting go, turning back to the others, starting up a random conversation.
Chloe still felt the tingle of Beca's hand on hers, long after it was gone.
