Work Text:
It was a peaceful winter evening. The wind soared peacefully under the moonlight, carrying the whispers and echoes of earlier banter and woes into the night sky to give room for tomorrow. The only remaining signs of life were the rare sounds of passing vehicles and muffled conversations in the hallway of Hieu and Lamon's dorm. However, amidst the serene evening, one can hear the final grievance of that day the wind had failed to carry away. In that dorm, Hieu sat on his bed, papers scrambled around his wrinkled blanket as he sat against a wall with his laptop on his lap.
"Fuck my life!" Hieu groaned, drawing out every syllable. He banged his head against the wall, arms sprawled out on his bed. "If only I could charm Javascript into writing code for me."
It wasn't long before his frustrated moans alerted his roommate. A few head bangs later, a knock was heard at the door.
"Come in," he said, struggling to conceal the desolation in his voice. The door opened to a curious Lamon whose face contorted with concern.
"Same assignment?"
"Yes, but I still don't need your help."
"I remember." He nodded, doubt leaking out of the pout cracking on his face. "It's been three hours though."
"I'm almost done though!"
"Let me see," he glided to the bed, almost menacingly. Before he could get close, Hieu jumped and scrambled to hide his screen. Lamon merely stopped in his tracks and gave his boyfriend a quirked eyebrow.
Clutching his laptop, the former could only squint and turn his head away from Lamon's mighty gaze. It wasn't long before the latter started tapping his foot and crossing his arms. Finally, Hieu let out an exasperated sigh, "fine!" And showed his laptop to the other.
After letting Hieu explain his predicament, Cedar calmly took his hand in his own. He gently raised it to his mouth and gave it a gentle kiss. "When is this due again?"
"Oh, um, tomorrow... yeah." He stammered.
"Not your deadline."
Hieu gave a thin awkward smile and scratched his head. "In a month."
Cedar smiled fondly at his boyfriend, a lighthearted sigh of disbelief escaping his nose. "Tell you what, take a breather, and once I get us some snacks, I'll see what we can do, alright?"
He could only nod and sigh, bringing his knees closer to his chest as he watched him leave the room. Looking around the bed, he spotted his phone and grabbed it to pass the time. Finally, Lamon came back from the kitchen, freeing Hieu from his cat video-induced stupor.
"Iced coffee, just the way you like it." He handed him the tumbler and a small assortment of snacks. The puffy-eyed boy could merely croak a feeble "thank you."
"Let's get started then."
For the next hour, Lamon guided Hieu through the process, suggesting more efficient ways and pointing out flaws as they were made. Determination coursed through the latter's fingers as he typed, while a gentle conviction erupted from his instructor's voice. Their focus was only broken to snacks and drinks.
"What the hell! Still doesn't wanna work."
Lamon smirked, and nonchalantly dragged the cursor to one of the lines and added a semi-colon at the end. With a press of the save button and one final test, the program finally worked. His smug expression was only met with disbelief from the other.
Suddenly, Hieu dropped his head on his boyfriend's shoulder, exhausted. The latter smiled and stacked his own head on top, snuggling closer. "That's everything, right?"
Hieu opened his mouth to speak but was immediately interrupted. "Don't add anything new."
With a sigh, he nestled his face on his boyfriend's chest. "Thank you so much for helping me. I don't know what I would've done without you."
Although muffled, Lamon understood and cradled his half-asleep lover's head, caressing it gently. "No need. I got to spend time with you, after all."
Hieu exhaled through his nose and sat himself up from Lamon. "Are you sure you don't want anything?" He smiled a tired yet playful grin.
He hummed, "maybe there is something," looking expectantly at him.
Without hesitation, Hieu leaned in for a kiss that was quickly reciprocated. Their lips danced to the rhythm of their heart and the melody of their sharp exhales and gentle moans. Their bodies matched the groove of their kiss as Hieu sat on Lamon's lap, cupping each other's warm faces with a gentle yet desperate passion. However, before it could escalate any further, the kiss slowed down as Hieu slowly fell asleep on his boyfriend. Growing tired, Lamon reached for the blanket and fell asleep, embracing his beloved. Finally, as their quiet snores settled into the evening ambience, the wind carried the final woe into the night, ready for the sun's return.
