Having rich friends be like

Summary:

Phone lines get installed around the palace and Iyozane really wants Kunimitsu to have a phone too.

Work Text:

“Mitori already told you about how the palace got phone lines installed, right?” Iyozane asked. Kunimitsu and Mitori both nodded. “That means we can talk to each other even when you're not visiting!”

It wasn’t often Iyozane looked this excited, so Kunimitsu couldn’t help but get hyped up too. “I’ll have to save up pretty quickly then!”

“Oh right, you don’t have a phone yet…” With a serious look on their face, Iyozane turned to their younger sibling. “Mitori, pay Micchan for extra lessons after you both leave.”

“But I barely have enough money left for sweets this month!”

“If you do it, I’ll give you all of the candy I have,” Iyozane offered.

“Let me think about it…” Even though Mitori said that, it was clear from the look in their eyes that they already agreed.

“Iyo, how much candy do you actually have right now?” Kunimitsu questioned.

“Does it really matter?” Iyozane asked.

“Yes, it does. Mitori, don’t accept their offer. It’s way too suspicious.”

Mitori let out a small gasp, but soon they started to giggle. “You almost got me again Iyo, but not today~”

“What if I give you more candy later?” Iyozane suggested.

“Then when later comes, you can say you don’t remember making that kind of promise, is that right?” Mitori seemed more happy about being able to see through the trick than bitter.

“Aww, figures that wouldn’t work twice.”

“If you want me to have a phone this badly, shouldn’t you try asking one of your servants if they can get one ordered for me?” Kunimitsu asked.

“Maybe I could, but I’d need a really good excuse first… Wait, I got it.” Iyozane stood up and walked to the door. They talked with a servant for a little while before returning with noticeably more spring in their step.

“I take it things went well?” At this point Kunimitsu wasn’t even phased by the fact they could get new and expensive technology at the whims of their friends.

“Yep!”

“What did you say to them?” Mitori asked.

“‘I’m concerned about my younger sibling’s inability to contact their employee within a moment’s notice’, or something like that,” Iyozane explained. “It’ll be taken care of within the week.”
