Chapter Text
The cat blinked. It just had felt something like electricity run down its spine, but when it looked around, it couldn’t spot any potential predators. It shook off the snow of its fur, and when it arched its back, the cat could feel the thin layer of ice on the fur breaking. It shook off the rest of the frozen water and yawned, showing its fangs to whoever was watching. Not that there was anyone around, the birds had already flown south, bears and foxes already went into hibernation, and the next human colony, or ‘city’ as they were called, was miles away.
Not even knowing what year it was, the cat took a last look around, deeming the area as save and curled up again to continue its sleep. Promising itself to be awake this spring for sure, it slowly closed its eyes to dream of better times to come.
But after a short span of time, the cat obviously didn’t have a clock, a black sun exploded under the cat’s eyelids, and now it was awake for sure. It was too soon for this. Way too soon. The last time it took years for this to happen.
The cat looked around, still nobody in sight. What to do now? It’s not like it had any allies in these spheres, and if even if, they wouldn’t welcome it with open arms.
The cat made a decision and hurried to make at least some preparations for the coming times.

“My queen, are you alright?”
The queen, still her hand over her heart, looked at her general. “Yes, of course.”
She wasn’t sure about what she just had felt, the last time she had felt something like that had been about half a millennia ago. “Please double the guards at the passages.”
The general was surprised about the order. “Are you sure? Is there danger in any delay?”
“Just do it. Better safe now than sorry later.”
“Of course, your majesty.” The guard put her right fist over her heart for the salute and was about to leave to carry out the orders, when the queen handed her another order.
“Find Glimmer and tell her to come here.”
The general bowed one last time and left. She didn’t envy the guard she will soon give the task to find the princess. Being young, Glimmer was … somewhat difficult and still unaware of her powers. Not that she intentionally had hurt someone, but if the princess was worked up, you would better hide behind something with bad conductivity.

Red lighting shot through the cave, making some stalactites fall down, hitting the shadows cowering on the ground. The sorceress didn’t care about them, physical damage didn’t affect them. At first, she had been outraged, since that rumbling that had been sent through the realms had disturbed her ritual. But the second wave had pleased her, it showed that it was time to set her plans in motion.
She put on her mask with the red, glowing crystal in the center of the forehead to command her minions to search for the source of that surge of power, and told them not to return without results. They didn’t feel fear, they couldn’t. To feel emotions, you need to be alive, and her minions were only mere puppets born from shadows. They will find, what she was looking for.

Somewhere, in the outskirts of London, a man leaned over his wife, holding a whining bundle in his arms while his wife held a second one. The midwife had warned them to expect twins, because of the big belly that had grown, but they didn’t expect a boy and a girl. The married couple had come to the agreement, that each of them will name one of the children.
The husband decided to name his son ‘Adam’, just like the first man, but he had to lean close to understand the name his wife had whispered just before falling asleep from exhaustion.
Adora.
