Chapter 1: Getting there
Chapter Text
Sky is confused.
Scratch that, Sky is more than confused. Baffled, bewildered, shocked, dumbfounded, they’re all words that could describe his current predicament but fall so very short to the actual scope of… whatever this is.
Wolfie was Twilight’s counterpart. He wasn’t from Lorule, but he was from Ordon, whatever version of Twilight’s hometown it may be.
He was only curious. Ravio could hold Fi; why not Wolfie?
Like Ravio, he may not be able to truly wield Fi, and by extension utilize any of the sword’s perks, but he should be able to hold her without negative repercussions. As such, Sky explained himself and then asked Wolfie to hold Fi, gently offering her for him to grab on to the hilt.
Which brings Sky to the now.
Wolfie was not burned. He was not cut or blown off his feet.
No, his hand went through the hilt.
There was no acknowledgement from Fi; no chime, no sigh, no pulsing glow. No impression of confusion nor weary and sorry whisper of an explanation as to why Wolfie phased through her like he was a ghost either. She was dead silent.
It’s like Wofie doesn’t exist.
With a crooked smile and an amused hum, Wolfie walked away. Sky looked down at Fi. He couldn’t hear anything over the static in his head.
~~~~~
Twilight could now confidently say he was no longer getting ants up his spine from being around Wolfie.
That being said, how exactly was he from Ordon? He said it was like Lorule, the duller version of it anyway, but there were still some… confusions, for lack of a better word.
There was no portal to this Ordon. No mirror, no cracks, no glass, no doors, no nothing. He has never in his life, neither from his childhood nor his journey, heard about this flipside of his hometown.
Would Ordona know anything?
Would the Twilight realm have any traces? Would Midna have known anything? (It hurts less thinking about his friend, but it’s still there.)
Wait a sec… Twilight sat up ramrod straight from his slouch, eyes flickering around for his counterpart, to no avail. (It was towards the end of his nightwatch, and if Wolfie wasn’t in a tree, at the trunk, or in a cuddleball with Wild, he couldn’t, shouldn’t be found.)
Does Wolfie use twilight magic?
Sure, that’s what it looks like, not to mention the fact that he’s never really seen what it looks like for himself to go from human to wolf and back, but it does seem darker than usual. It didn’t give him the same tingles. He didn’t react to it much beyond the visuals. He felt nothing.
No, that’s not quite right…
It felt like nothing.
There was an absence of something, but that itself isn’t nothing, because something did happen.
Huh.
Maybe it is getting past his allotted shift.
Twilight rubs his eyes, back to slouching by the fire. He tiptoes over to Hyrule to wake him and spots Wolfie returning with a boar and Hylia are those eyes? Keese eyes?
Yeah. He needs sleep.
~~~~~
The ruins stretch on and on and on.
Eventually, they hit grass and a valley lined by shallow hills. There are no more ruins to see, though Hyrule has a hunch there are more beyond the treeline. And countless more across this Hyrule.
He doesn’t want to think what that implies. Sure, his own home may have ruins too, but this is the largest Hyrule they’ve been in by far.
And with that depressing thought, horses are a lovely distraction.
~~~~~
Grass. The land is flat and there’s grass everywhere. (At least they’re following a path now.)
On one hand, everyone can spread out more. Monsters can be seen from miles away. Hyrule can wander and he won’t have to go and find him. Or Twilight. Or Wolfie…
Their Wolfie, not… whoever this is.
Sure they have the same face, the same stature, same markings, but Wolfie is far from Twilight. It might’ve been closer to a Ravio kind of situation if it weren’t for that grin and confidence. And the fact that both seem to take obscurity like a fish to water.
On the other hand, the lack of scenery makes this boring-as-hell walk that much more tedious. His brain is slush and all he can do is think and -
Wait a minute - markings? Twilight and Wolfie - both Wolfies - have the same…
Huh.
Now that he thinks about it, Twilight’s mannerisms, not to mention the fact the two are never seen together, make a lot more sense.
Well, if Twilight wants to keep that under wraps, he sure as hell won’t so much as peep. He himself can turn into a bunny for crying out loud. Small and fluffy and pink.
Legend shakes his head. He watches Wild sway slightly a few feet behind Wolfie, likely listening to Sky hum or something, and decides that it’s now or never.
He’s been wondering for a while now, and as long as it’s not related to this Hyrule or Wild, he should be okay, right?
“So, ” Legend sidles up to Wolfie’s side, “How’d you know about Lorule?”
“Oh, that’s because Zelda took it up as a minor research project on the side a long time ago. She’s been able to go more in depth with it lately. More free time and all that without some stubborn amalgamation of a beast threatening armageddon like some child in a temper tantrum with some toy he can’t have.”
First of all, wow. He’s never heard of any of the others joke about Ganon of all things, but the way Wolfie talks about the embodiment of evil they all had to fight in some shape or form like a particularly irritating inconvenience has him fighting back laughter.
Second of all, “Research project? Why’d she need to know about it?” Is she a researcher here?
“She was curious. She always wanted to know if it was still possible to travel to places like the Twilight Realm or Lorule. Plus, we don’t have the Triforce here either.”
“What?” If he weren’t trying to have a conversation with the most vexing hero he’s met (He is a hero, right?) he would’ve stopped walking.
Legend was going to blurt out, Is this gonna be a repeat of the Four situation?, but abruptly stopped when he realized that Wolfie at least knew of its existence, so instead he ends up saying, “This implies the triforce was once here.”
“Yup. Yours and the others’ pasts confirm as such.”
“Weird.”
“Such is life.”
They walked in silence for some time, the conversation having fallen to an awkward lull. Legend was about to leave, make sure Hyrule wasn’t too far away or fidget with some of the less magically-inclined trinkets he’s got when Wolfie speaks.
“Did Fox - Wild get some stories of Lorule’s revival from you?”
“Ah, no, I believe that was Ravio’s doing.”
“Ravio? Who…” A spark of recognition, then, “Wait, you all got to go visit Lorule?”
Legend shakes his head and huffs. “No, he’s decided to turn my house into a shop.” He shrugs, then, as an afterthought, “Not like I was using it much.”
“Huh.” A pause, “We weren’t the most lax around each other, but it would just be plain cruel of me not to warn you. Our Zelda’s chatty.”
Legend squints at that. This time he does stop before quickly regaining his pace. “What is that supposed to mean?”
Wolfie smirks and refuses to answer, the cryptic bastard.
~~~~~
Wild has been hanging on Wolfie’s back for the past five minutes or so. And Warriors does not mean in the traditional sense.
No, his hands are in the fur pelt on Wolfie’s back and his legs are wrapped around his neck. He’s upside down, watching the sides of the path they’re taking.
They pass by a merchant. Wild backflips off (And wasn’t that impressive, seeing the kid unhook his ankles and push off with his hands. Wolfie, for his credit, didn’t even stumble.) and walks up to him. It is when Warriors realizes Wild doesn’t have proper shoes on (Since when did he take them off?) when the kid in question promptly dumps a ton of lizards in the merchant’s hands.
He slips the lizards all into a pouch (how he did so while the lizards were all alive and wriggling is simply mystifying) and hands a bundle of rupees in return. They disappear in blue streaks to the device by Wild’s side.
“Thanks, Fox! Lovely running into ya out here! You too, Wolfie!”
“Please don’t burn them all this time!” Wolfie shouts, Wild bounding back. He jumps in place a few times, barks twice, then shoots off again at Wolfie’s nod. “I still don’t know how you manage to when you’re perfectly fine handling the more finicky monster parts.”
“What can I say, I’ve got talent!”
Wolfie sighs. Warriors shudders.
Right… I forgot that’s what’s in their potions…
“He burns lizards? Why do you cook lizards in the first place?” Wind pops up beside him, likely intrigued by the conversation’s contents.
“Because that’s how you brew elixirs. Critters and monster parts. And I suppose the occasional fairy dust.” Wolfie waves goodbye at the merchant as he answers Wind.
“Ewwww!” Same, Wind. I feel you. “Elixirs are potions, right? Why do you make them out of that stuff instead of plants?”
“Well, what do you think your potions are made from?”
“Plants?”
“You sure?”
Wind suddenly looks a lot more unsure of himself. His face contorts and he scrunches up his nose. Warriors had the composure to not react, as well as a blood moon and a roaring contest to distract himself. Wind had no such benefits.
Wolfie huffs a laugh. He grins, saying nothing more. Warriors pats Wind on the back.
“Same here, Sailor.”
~~~~~
In reaching for an apple to munch on, Time pulls a pinecone from his bag. Next to him, Warriors lets out a baffled “Uhhh?”
Time turns to him to find the captain with a twig in his hand, looking down at his bag.
The two catch each other’s eyes. Time raises an eyebrow. Warriors shrugs, his confusion mirroring his own.
Warriors then squints, looking slightly off to the side. Time turns to see what’s what.
Wild is seen slipping a rock in Hyrule’s bag. The hero in question continues to obliviously skip along, staring at the horizon, likely either watching the wild horses or looking for any distant structures. Wild slips away completely unnoticed, innocently returning to Sky’s side.
Sky appears to not have noticed he left at all.
“Oh, that’s hilarious! And brilliant!” The sailor grins with a bit too many teeth in front of him, a bundle of leaves in hand.
Time and Warriors have to stop to not run into Wind and Four. Four is flicking his gaze between Hyrule, Wild, and the grass in his hand, eyes fluctuating between purple and red with each shift of focus.
“How did I not notice?” Four groans.
Wind cackles. Warriors looks amused. Time is torn between proud, because Wild is actually opening up and relaxing around them, and exasperated, because this means another gremlin to fuel the flames.
Wolfie in the front tosses a stick he somehow acquired at Legend. How he got it can be inferred enough.
Chapter 2: Gone
Summary:
They meet Impa.
Questions are either answered in riddles, in part, or not at all.
Time speaks up. “We don’t really know, actually. This quest has been… circular, to say the least. We were kinda hoping you could give us some clues? Or anything relating to unusual occurrences, really.”
“Well, whatever it is, it’s bad enough for Hylia to need more than one hero.”
Chapter Text
Kakariko is a lovely little village surrounded by mountains.
The group did not have long to look around before Wolfie was ushering them to the stairs of a large hut, likely where Impa was. Four caught the sight of a waterfall while Wolfie spoke with the two guards.
In they went.
Inside the elevated hut, Four could see a frail old woman, a large hat covering her face, seated on a mound of pillows. Blades stamped with the signature Sheikah eye hung by chains decorating the straw hat. Behind her hung a tapestry of what looked to be a battle of sorts? From this distance, the numerous swirling lines blended into one surreal entity, surrounding three figures.
Hey, why isn’t Wolfie sitting down?
Is he leaving?
I don’t think so?
But he’s still in the doorway! What else would he be doing but leaving?
And where’s Wild?
“You found him, didn’t you?”
The woman’s scratchy voice cut Four out of his thoughts. Her head was raised just enough for her thin smile to be seen.
“I did. Turns out he disappeared because of some portal-y magic” he could hear a quiet, mocking laugh escape the teen behind him. “Oh, sweet Malanya…”
The woman nods. “At least that’s more up your alley.”
Wolfie makes a muffled kind of snort, then softly replies with an “I’m not so sure about that kind of portal…”
The door was gently shut, preventing the sun’s rays from reaching inside and leaving only the lanterns to illuminate the room. The woman fully raised her head at this point.
“I am Impa, chief of the Sheikah tribe here in Kakariko. Do tell what brings you heroes here.”
She knows!?
Of course she does.
After a small pause, Time speaks up. “We don’t really know, actually. This quest has been… circular, to say the least. We were kinda hoping you could give us some clues? Or anything relating to unusual occurrences, really.” It was silently decided their unofficial leader should… well… lead.
“Well, whatever it is, it’s bad enough for Hylia to need more than one hero.”
“You’ve got nothing else?” Warriors sounds exhausted. And slightly annoyed, probably at the lack of information. Four understands that. A wild goose chase was not his idea of a divine-given quest, especially when the apparent goose was invisible to them. “Fine, then what was all that two nights back? With the moon and the red and the… whatever that stuff was?”
“Ah, the Blood Moon: a manifestation of malice and miasma. How did you all fare?”
“Horribly, thank you very much,” Twilight huffed, his voice a bit too light and joking in nature for the content of his words, “I think I’m still in pain from that.”
Impa smiles at that. “Quite annoying, is it not? We’re quite lucky it has a Calamity to feed it no more.”
“Calamity?”
“Yes, as in Ganon.”
And wasn’t that a revelation? Which would mean that all those ruins were…
“That was Ganon’s doing?” Four had let slip, “No, rather, once was? Then, that would mean… How did…?” Wild’s eerie words that one night suddenly hit Four like a keese.
Impa hums indecipherably. “Though I suppose he’s closer to a form of primal malice incarnate rather than the beast or man he’d been during your times.”
Sky beside him took a sharp intake of breath. Without bothering to look, Four could already imagine the haunted look.
“Anything else you wish to know before your journey continues?”
“Shouldn’t Wild hear this too? And Wolfie?” Hyrule glances to the door, concern clear on his face.
“They already know, do they not?” Impa chuckled.
Ugh. Old people…
“I guess, but - ”
“Wolfie mentioned a shrine?”
“That’s not my story to tell.”
Impa dodges the question, a trend Four’s noticed. Sky has mostly calmed from his little panic next to him. It was hushed, but he definitely heard Sky mutter Demise’s name.
What’s Demise gotta do with this?
Was Wild’s Ganon actually Demise?
I don’t think so. Impa did call him Ganon.
But then what’s with the malice?
As Four’s thoughts spiral, Wind asks a question of his own. “Why does everyone know him as Little Fox and not Link?”
“That child does not identify with that name no longer.”
There’s something he was not expecting. The voices cut off and amalgamate back in his shock. Four was expecting something along the lines of That’s what Wolfie calls him or It’s a nickname, perhaps even a It’s translated from wolf and it stuck.
No, he no longer identifies with that name. His previous theory is no longer viable. Impa knows the hero is Link - that Wild is Link. There might be other people as well. So then why did Wild say the hero is dead?
“If you don’t have anything on what Hylia wants from us, can I go?” Legend grumbles, then adds, almost like an afterthought, “If you know who we’re bound to be asking questions about, then why don’t they answer these themselves?”
“Why do you think?” Impa completely ignores Legend’s first question.
She closes her eyes and waits.
I don’t think I want to listen anymore.
Well, we can’t just up and leave either! That’d be rude!
No, no, let this continue. We need all the information we can get.
What is up with this Hyrule?
The blades on Impa’s hat jingle as she takes a breath and sighs. Her voice had steadily gotten scratchier as the evening went on. “With the right combination of words and tone, one could rip apart another in an hour or less. Of course, there are always those that are kind out there just as well as those that are mean. The two are quite well known and trusted now, but before that? When those two were questioned, and they gave answers, they were so often held in disbelief; the answers appeared to be unwanted.”
Oh.
That’s actually kind of sad.
Hush! She’s not done!
“And who would believe them anyway? Immortals and resurrected aren’t exactly common. They’re not even rare - they’re unheard of - myths and legends whose connection to reality are ancient threads stretched so far that a simple breath could blow them away in the dust. It really isn’t any wonder they’ve become so secretive.
“I believe it’s for the best they remain that way. Some secrets just aren’t worth the effort to reveal.”
Wait… resurrected?
“What do you mean resurrected?” Wind’s tiny voice was barely above a whisper.
Impa chuckled, a sad, or maybe old, look in her eye. When she spoke, her voice was higher, like she was trying to sound like someone else.
“Oh, but don’t you know?
The hero was killed.”
And with that, the meeting was over.
~~~~~
Wild was resurrected.
That means Wild had died.
Impa said the Hero is dead, and the Hero is Wild, because Wild can hold the Master Sword and has a title, and Wild is very much alive. He was the one who was resurrected.
But Wild also isn’t a Link, at least, not anymore, because everyone here knows him as Little Fox. Or just Fox. Wind isn’t sure what the difference is.
So why did Impa say the Hero is dead, when he’s not, just by a different name?
They exit the hut to be met with Wolfie and who appears to be Zelda talking in hushed tones. Wild isn’t in sight.
Possibly - Zelda and Wolfie look up to them. Wolfie smiles and gestures to the Hylian teen.
“This is Zelda.”
Ah, so she is Zelda. The lack of honorific, though, does not escape Wind’s attention; he’s just too brain dead from whatever that conversation was inside with Impa to comment on it. As Tetra would put it, he’s out of fucks to give.
The silence is enough to let him know the other’s aren’t faring much better.
She waves, a knowing glint in her eye and a tilt to her smile.
Wild’s Zelda narrows her eyes suddenly, then looks around. She sighs, freezes for a moment, then pulls a rock from the pouch on her hip.
“He does that to you too huh?” Twilight’s voice sounded duller than usual. Wind can relate. He’d rather not think about it either.
From the corner of his eye, Wind catches Sky go from somewhere between vacant and sullen to confusion and puzzlement. Did he not get a “gift” or did he not know it was Wild?
Zelda nods (Will she get a nickname too? Probably.) and then unabashedly tosses it at Wolfie. Wolfie squints at her, frowning, then reaches in his own pouch and tosses a rock of his own back at her.
“I’m not even going to ask.” Zelda cracks a smile.
“I’ve had it for a while now.”
“What…? Huh?” Sky looks to the others, and his gaze lands on him.
Wind settles on a shrug. He can appreciate the change in topic. “What, didn’t you get something too? Like leaves or grass or sticks? Wild’s been sneaking around.”
“We’re not sure how he does it, but none of us have noticed it happening in the moment. I did see him slipping a rock to Hyrule though.” Warriors walks the rest of the way down, him and the others following.
Sky sounded even more confused. “No… nothing like that… Though I did find a small gem?” Sky pulls out a generous-sized rock, not quite the size of his palm. The difference, though, between this rock and the ones Hyrule and Twilight got was that this one was blue. Blue and shiny.
“You’ve got to be kidding me…” Legend muttered, staring. “That’s huge…” Wind didn’t blame him. He too couldn’t really believe it.
Sky shrugged and put the gem back in his bag. “I only noticed when my bag suddenly gained a bit of weight. Wild was the only one next to me so I took a bit of a guess. I didn’t really look at what he gave me until we took a break.”
“He liked your humming. Does that to Kass too.” Wolfie has a fond smile.
Maybe I should hum some to Wild too… Maybe with Aryll the next time we meet… Oh, Aryll would love Wild!
Cue the thrum of the portal.
Wind watched as Wolfie had to physically keep Zelda in place as she tried to get closer and inspect the swirling mists and rotating ring of runes of the portal. She’s mumbling something about transcription and ancient languages and if the direction of the spin means anything and how the portals know where the heroes are or if they have to hunt down where they appear or both and what if the spinning go opposite ways of each other and…
“So that’s what he meant…” Wind hears Legend comment, though he’s not sure of the context.
“Alright, let’s not keep Hylia waiting.” Time turns to Zelda, “Apologies, Your Highness. I hope we can meet properly next time.”
Zelda shakes her head. “I will have none of that. It’s just Zelda. And you should do what you have to.”
Time nods, then raises his voice. “Pair up before the portal starts forcing us through.”
Wind grabs onto the nearest Link, which happened to be Hyrule, before looking around. “Where’s Wild?”
“Right here!” Sure enough, Wild was clutching Twilight’s pelt.
Wolfie patted Wild’s head and made a few barks. Wild nodded. Twilight looked oddly baffled and just stared at Wolfie, eyebrows furrowed.
Does Twilight speak dog? Or wolf? It wouldn’t surprise Wind. He did grow up on a farm and often handles the goats with the herding dogs.
Wind says goodbye to Wolfie (He actually got to hug him!) and walks through to the void, silently hoping to land on one of Outset’s beaches.
He knows Twilight and Wild walk through.
Wind only sees Twilight walk out.
~~~~~
“Are you sure that was wise?”
“It’s not like She can do anything about it. He’s Mine. She lost dominion.”
“Is that so?”
“Resurrection is never perfect. I simply took that as an opportunity.”
A snort. An old woman removes her hat and relaxes her posture. A teen frozen in every sense of time, who’s very existence and godly status is inconclusive and ambiguous at best, shifts the only soul he’s claimed closer.
Portals are apparently freezing.
Age comes with faded emotions. A sort of emotional erosion that buffers everything but cold logic. Everything else is either dulled or exaggerated. He knows this well.
Still…
Hylia seriously has them running in circles with their information deficit. He feels a little sorry for them. Not enough to not string them along blindfolded though. No, that wouldn’t be fun. (And he’s maybe fueled by a tiny hint of spite for Her.)
He tried to get Her souls to think. To hypothesize and discuss instead of blindly follow and ask point blank.
Nonetheless, She should learn to solve Her problems Herself, especially when the current methods have very clearly proved themselves ineffective in the long run.
Notes:
And with that, this storyline is done!
No, we're not gonna elaborate much.
But we are gonna give you all the lore notes! All the stuff we were either too lazy to write in or just didn't get the chance to explain much will be found in chapter 3.
Now, does this mean this storyline as a whole is finished?
Nah, probably not. Perhaps you'll see a "meanwhile" story or one set in the future, when Wild is more accustomed to human functionality.
See ya!
Chapter 3: Background Lore
Summary:
Basically everything we've been planning up to this point that we're just too lazy to write in or don't know how to incorporate such.
Remember: jellyfish.
Notes:
There arent's any sections or anything but there is sort of a structure here?
First bit is on Wolfie, then it sorta morphs into stuff on Wild, then it gets into Zelda and the other heroes.
Chapter Text
* The mirror isn’t a cage. It’s a containment. Wolfie went straight from the void to that mirror in Palmorae Beach with a divine signature and domain anchored to his soul that he is very much unaware of. The chain is a stabilizer as well as a binding agent so that he doesn’t wander too far away. By the time of the Calamity, Wolfie could have escaped on his own, but again, he didn’t know what was actually going on.
* By the time the Heroes of Old arrive, Wolfie is aware he’s close enough to a god, but he doesn’t know what that exactly entails.
* Wolfie comes from Ordon. That’s it. Just Ordon. No Ganon, no master sword, no hero’s spirit, no Hyrule Castle, no Zelda. Outside the town, things go black and white. Even further, and things go black. You’re walking on nothing, surrounded by nothing. No one knows who or when or how many went there. Eventually, they don’t exist. They disappear entirely; the memories associated with them only leaving empty recollections and missing spaces. While Lorule may be the flipside of Hyrule in the dimensional sense, Wolfie’s Ordon is the flipside of Twilight’s in more of a metaphysical sense. It’s not even its own shifted dimensional space like the Twilight Realm. It’s literally its own isolated pocket space, and with no boundaries or containments, wanderers who breach the edge are at the mercy of the dissolving void.
* Wolfie’s Ordon supposedly was to be Twilight’s, but Hylia wasn’t really happy with it, so she scrapped it and started over. While Hylia wasn’t aware you had to physically erase and destroy the town, not just throw it out to the void, she wouldn’t have cared if she found out; the hero’s spirit, which identifies the heroes as Hers, transferred over to Twilight when Wolfie was scrapped. That being said, the imprint is still there, which is why he’s the sole survivor of his isolated pocket space. He has a god’s (in Hylia’s case, goddess’s) favored touch, but no domain, so the void created one for him to fix the “error.” That doesn’t mean he was aware of such, however, or that Hylia could recognize an Other in her space. After all, he technically never left.
* Wolfie technically doesn’t exist, so immortal? Fi doesn’t recognize him as a hero. She doesn’t know he’s there at all. Wolfie may have his own domain, and thus his own identity as a god, but he’s too far removed from current reality to interact with the divine. He shouldn’t have existed at all.
* Wolfie doesn’t like Hylia much. So how else do you swear without using her name? Sweet Malonya. (Malonya cackled in delight when they first heard of this.)
* The guardians did not destroy the mirror because they could sense Wolfie inside. They were ordered by Ganon to destroy everything. That order included any structure, thus why so much of Hyrule is ruins.
* So how did Wild know Wolfie was there? The Master Sword. Both the Master Sword and the mirror gave off the same feeling of divine magic and conscious intelligence. He may not have known what Wolfie was, but he put two and two together just from comparing Wolfie and Fi’s vibes.
* Wolfie “named” Wild (since he’s no longer Link now. That doesn’t fit him any longer), though it needed to be translated from wolf. Something like Little Fox?
* Wild refers to Wolfie as “Woofie.” In wolf and sign, it’s parent. He couldn't pronounce “wolf” for the longest time, and it stuck even after he fixed his speech. Now, it’s just a matter of grammar and sentence structure.
* The shrine, in the process of healing Wild, had de-aged him a few years.
* Wild does have his past’s memories, but there’s a disconnect. He’s not watching the memories of a past him, but merely learning the land’s history through the eyes of someone caught up in the middle of it all through his dreams. That’s because, as his soul left Hylia’s domain, Wolfie claimed dominion over it while the shrine reconstructed it. While Link the Hero and his resurrection are technically the same person, the same soul, they are of different domains, thus the distinction. The change in the soul's divine signature caused a change in self-identity.
* Wild doesn’t like civilizations. They smell wrong. He doesn’t have as strong a nose as Wolfie, but he’s got practice using it. This is especially true in the other’s Hyrules. Food from shops taste off (farms apparently), gems too polished, arrows made weird, clothing too stiff, etc. The inns are his favorite since the owner (leader? Someone of clear authority?) is always the same and you can always find a familiar corner. Shops will restock and switch who works the desk.
* Wild, on rare occasions, speaks in his sleep. Sometimes he’s talking as himself, other times he’s echoing someone else he’s heard. Why isn’t something anyone can answer.
* Wild does have the champion’s gifts. There were no complications receiving them since they were left for Link, not The Hero. Otherwise, the change in domain his soul belongs to would’ve made the champion’s gifts null.
* Wild and Ravio are best friends. Wild loves Ravio’s stories and Ravio is fascinated by the Sheikah Slate. He also likes Wild’s stories, but Wild isn’t much of a storyteller, so the stories were mostly told through the numerous pictures on the slate.
* Wild can hold the master sword, but, like Ravio, he cannot wield it. Fi recognizes his soul, but cannot properly interact with him since he lost Hylia’s touch.
* The yiga are not a threat to Wild. The Hero is dead after all.
* When speaking, Wild has a habit of using sign language grammar. Time is the first one who recognizes this pattern.
* Zelda often gushes and nerds out to Wild. While he may not understand everything, he soaks up the stories like a sponge and listens to her ramblings in a way only a curious and enamored child could. He definitely did not approach Ravio because of what he’s heard from Zelda. (He totally did, but not by much. Ravio is just as socially awkward.) The glyphs and descriptions of bunnies, not to mention Zelda’s own interpretive illustrations, did not help.
* Zelda did not age while keeping Calamity Ganon contained since her method of containment was complete stasis until the Master Sword got to the castle and sealed Calamity Ganon. (Zelda personally prefers the term “holding the Calamity hostage.”)
* Four’s an all rounder because he is four different entities. Vio is good at critical thinking, Red has expressions and emotions, or reading people in general, covered, Blue can battle under pressure and offer solutions while Vio reworks strategies, and Green excels at hiding and bluffing. That’s why Green is often default.
* Four is the only one who can sneak up on Wolfie. His soul is technically split into four (hence the colors), so his soul registers to Wolfie as four fragments as opposed to one whole soul. He’s closer to a ghost that way since ghosts are either magic imprints that act as recorders (the priests in the shrines) or lingering soul fragments (the king on the Great Plateau). So while Four is indeed alive and technically whole, he’s a ghost to Wolfie when relying purely on sensing the soul.
* Hyrule, aside from having the hero’s spirit, has an additional blessing. He can make anything edible to aid in his survival of his Hyrule. That being said, “edible” does not translate to “appetizing.”
* Fi can “speak” to all the heroes, but Sky is the only one who can actually interpret her voice. The others only hear chimes.
* Sky is absolutely a gremlin, he’s just too lazy and sweet for most people to see. That is, until the guy starts jumping cliffs left and right and smiling when Four wants to set something on fire or Hyrule wants to check out the totally-not-dangerous-looking shiny thing.
* Sky is the most musically inclined, followed by Time and Wind, though he’s the only one that actively hums. He does it mostly while carving, but will sometimes hum while they’re walking.
