Work Text:

After yet another exhausting day of answering phone calls, organizing meetings, and sending emails out to CatCo employees and third parties, plus being on call whenever Miss Grant suddenly decides that she wants a very specific coffee from a very specific coffee shop that just so happens to be on the other side of the city, or that she wanted to fire poor Chris from I.T. because he sneezed just a little too loudly (and everyone knows that their boss is an extreme germaphobe), Kara always found comfort in knowing that at the end of the workday (be that whenever her boss decides), she'll be snuggling at home in her comfortable bed with dozens of plushies and having wet dreams about her gorgeous roommate, Lena.

Lena K. Luthor was a reserved girl just a few years younger than Kara but beyond smarter than her. Seriously, Kara didn't understand how this woman didn't have a fist-full of doctorates and PhDs already considering she spent most of her time, at least when Kara was home, locked away in her room, presumably studying.

Kara knew and understood that she was smart too, excelling in fields like physics, astronomy, and zoology. Three things she'd had a passion for when she was younger but lost interest in after her parents died. These days she finds herself more interested in humans. In people. In the way they act, talk, and think.

Currently working as Cat Grant's assistant requires good- no. Outstanding people skills to last more than a work day. And Kara had been working there for months now.

Kara Z. Danvers was outstanding at reading people; businessmen, rival reporters, and the likes who'd come to speak with her boss. She would instantly be able to tell from their body posture, the way they carried themselves, the position of their hands, their mannerisms, and even just the way they spoke if she would need to tell them that Ms. Grant was busy (when she wasn't), arrange a meeting months away, or let them speak to her immediately. The latter has yet to happen. But her quick threat assessments got her praise from Cat which is probably the main reason she wasn't fired on the first day. That, and her determination to always manage to bring her boss hot coffee whenever she asked.

Despite her apparent people powers, there is just one person she just isn't able to read. Lena Luthor.

They'd exchange the odd pleasantries now and then.

-"Morning, how's work?"

-"Hi, Lena! Top of the morning to you! haha….. It's going alright at the moment! How're your studies going?

-"Fine"

Sometimes they'd share the living space whilst quietly going about their own business, or would coincide during eating hours.

Lena would cook a lot more often than Kara, who would usually just order delivery or grab a take-out on her way back to the flat. The younger woman always made sure to make enough food for the both of them whenever she cooked. Which seemed to be quite often, as Kara would come to expect a Tupper of some strange new dish she'd never heard of in the fridge with her name stuck on with a post-it.

Sometimes she'd leave a reply on the door of the fridge.

-"Last night's food was great! How are you so good at cooking?" - K

-"It's just chemistry" - Lena

Kara had never directly asked what Lena was studying, she assumed horticulture, botany, or something related to plants considering the sheer amount of plants (most of which she couldn't even name) were spread about the apartment. Some were hanging from the room and cupboard doors, others were potted and placed on the kitchen work surface, windowsill, the bathtub, and even Kara's bedroom (who wasn't sure how they'd got in there). She pictured the state of Lena's room and imagined a jungle or botanical garden.

Despite hardly seeing her in person, Kara had fallen in love with Lena. At first thinking, it was just a silly little crush because of the younger woman's mysterious nature, but she started noticing over time that she could instantly tell, just by opening the front door if Lena was home just from her familiar smell. Dear Gods, how badly she wanted to dig her face into that dark hair and drown in the interesting mix she could only describe as being somewhere between white lily, tobacco, oranges, and the laundromat's cheap fabric softener.

Honestly, Kara got off to that smell. Accidentally conditioning herself into getting horny whenever she'd smell it. She'd quickly rush into her room, lock the door and hump the plushies that she kept on her bed as soon as she got home and could smell Lena on the other side of her bedroom door. She'd imagine pinning Lena to her desk, interrupting her studies. Grabbing both her wrists with one hand and using the other to dig her fingers into Lena's soft thighs. She'd fuck the younger woman raw and hard as if she were a brainless dog and Lena her bitch. Make her scream for it to stop. She'd thrust harder, stronger, and rougher the more Lena cried, sobbed, or begged for her to stop.

-"Kierah!" - suddenly hearing her almost-name shocked her out of her wet daydream, realizing she was still at work. "You're practically drooling all over those documents."

Kara sat upright, adjusted her glasses, and cleared her throat awkwardly. Glancing at the clock on her desk and groaned when she noticed that it was way past when her shift was supposed to end.

-"Sorry Ms. Grant, I was just thinking about…dinner"

Her ears reddened at the obvious lie but hoped it wasn't too obvious what she had insinuated. Luckily her boss just shot her a suspicious glance and raised her brow before rolling her eyes and making a shooing gesture.

-"Go on then. I don't want to keep you away from your "dinner" A clear emphasis on the last word.

Kara smiled awkwardly, nodded, and started quickly packing up her things, cheeks burning at the awkwardness of the interaction and making sure to grab her umbrella on the way out of the building, noticing it was raining outside.
