Chapter Text
Steve ‘the hair’ Harrington, King of Hawkins high, now manages Family Video, the place he has worked at since he was 19. How did he stoop so low? He used to be so cool, everyone either wanted to be him or wanted to be with him. And now he’s a 24 year old man that can barely take care of himself, let alone his cat, Dusty. (Yes, he names it Dusty, there's nothing wrong with that!) This thought is a daily occurrence for Steve, he brushes it off and continues organising the tapes. Ding Ding the sound of the bell slapping against the door alerting Steve of customers, he puts on his best smile before facing his customers.
Ever since all of his friends left Hawkins to be safer or to pursue dreams, it’s been… lonely. Until he met these little shits. The Fabulous 4 (As Steve calls them) run in.to the store. He gives a fond smile “Hey guys, what's up?” He asks while rubbing a hand over his tired face. “Hey Steve” A short blonde haired boy speaks up “Sup dude” The kid says while hopping up to sit on the counter, the other 3 kids joining him “I swear to god, if you guys are trying to rent another R rated movie I’m gonna have to tell your parents” Steve says while striking his infamous mom pose (C’mon you know the one) “Pfft no we would never do that Stevie” A brunette girl pipes in, jumping off the counter while slapping Steves back.
‘Stevie’
That name… it reminded him of someone, someone special, he couldn’t put his finger on it. It was stupid, it was probably nothing, but something in the back of his mind was telling him it was more than it seemed “-eve… Steve!” “What? Huh, oh hey… guys” Steve said while looking around to see that all 4 little shits were staring at him with their little concerned eyes. “Steve… what’s going on with you, you spaced out, we lost you there for a minute” Steve inhaled sharply, spaced out… lost? This sounds like the doing of Vecna. One part of Steve's brain was being rational and saying, ‘No, remember you killed Vecna remember? He’s not alive, you’re okay.’ While the other part of his brain was screaming at him to get out of there and check for any clocks or hallucinations.
He looked at the kids, unknowing of the racing in Steve's brain they caused “Uh sorry guys, just busy day, busy week the usual” He waved them off, these kids didn’t need to worry about him, god they reminded him of the others.
There was Avery, a brunette with forest green eyes, a very feisty girl, kind of like Robin but also Eleven. Then there was Ricky, also a brunette who had the cutest, largest, honey brown eyes. He was a little shit though, such a troublemaker, kind of like Dustin, but he also sucked like Mike. (Steve loved Mike but he was so fucking annoying at times, so in conclusion; Mike sucks; 70% of the time I guess) Then there was Sam, blonde hair and blue eyed (typical, though his eyes are like an ocean blue) but the sweetest kid Steve has ever met, kind of like Will, very timid but can be an ass when he wants to. Lastly there was Lorelei, deep red hair, (dyed obviously but it was badass) the deepest shade of green that were her eyes, she reminded him of Max, a fireball but sweet on the inside.
“Alright, so tell me” Steve grunted while sitting down and crossing one leg over the other “if you don’t want an R rated movie, why are you here?” Steve asked while crossing his arms. “Well… we weren’t sure who to go to for this but…” Sam started rambling timidly. All Steve could hope for was ‘Please not the sex talk, not the sex talk! I can’t do that again!’ Is it anyone's business if Steve subtly crossed his fingers, no, no it is not! “Last night… we saw something”
