Comfort omega

Summary:

"What happened? Are you alright?"

"Yes, of course! It's not about me this time. It's one of the heroes who works at the same agency as me. He's a friend, even though he doesn't want to admit it." She chuckles, then glances at the bank's front door nervously. "I don't know what's going on with him exactly... He was alright this morning..."

"I don't think he's ever received help from a comfort omega before," one paramedic cuts in, looking down at her tablet. "And if he doesn't have a mate it's most likely that his inner alpha has been accumulating stress and anger until... Well, until now."

"He also has anger issues," Uravity adds. "Although he's been working on them..."

Izuku sighs; stubborn alphas are the worst, he's probably one of the few ones who doesn't trust comfort omegas...

"Alright... I'll go. Who's the pro hero by the way? You mentioned he was one of the best, Uravity..."

"Dynamight."

Chapter Text

Izuku and his co-workers always arrive after the battle ends; his job as a comfort omega is to calm down unmated alphas that are about to lose control. Most of the time they're pro heroes who snapped after a very stressful situation.

It's usually after a big disaster so it surprises Izuku when he sees a couple of other omegas, scared and nervous outside a bank; it seems it was just a robbery, but the alpha is hurt inside and he refuses to get help, he's also acting quite aggressive to anyone who gets close to him.

Izuku doesn't understand.

"I'm so glad you're here, Midoriya!" Uravity waves at him with a relieved smile on her face. The omega immediately grins back; she's one of the best pro heroes he's ever met, he's helped her relax before as well, even though she's a beta.

"Has he hurt anyone?"

"No, of course not!" Uravity says immediately. "He would never... He's just pacing around inside the building, scowling and growling to himself. He seems to be in some sort of trance."

"Now... in these extreme cases I'd sedate him, but he snarls at anyone who gets too close to him. Besides, he's one of the best pro heroes and has a very powerful quirk." The paramedic explains, which only makes things look like they're even worse than Izuku imagined. He even notices some of his own coworkers around.

"So the other omegas..."

"He growls at them as well."

"But why did you call me? I mean, if the others haven't succeeded I don't see why–"

"Because you're the best, Midoriya," Eraserhead walks towards them, startling the omega a little bit. "You managed to get Todoroki to listen to you when we were having that battle a couple of weeks ago and encouraged him to use his fire quirk."

The omega blushes to the tip of his ears, getting compliments from one of the best heroes out there, someone he admires, it's a little bit too much... But he tries to focus anyway.

He doesn't think he deserves the compliment though, Shoto is a very nice alpha and he just reacted in a good way to Izuku's scent.

However, there's probably no time to argue about that.

"Alright... I'll go. Who's the pro hero by the way? You mentioned he was one of the best, Uravity..."

"Dynamight."

Oh no, Izuku pales. It's not going to work. Bakugo Katsuki was his childhood friend before he started bullying Izuku out of nowhere. The omega is pretty sure that alpha hated him, maybe he still does even though they haven't seen each other in years...

He turns around to try to explain why it's a bad idea when he meets Eraserhead intense gaze. It's not fair, that man was never Izuku's teacher and yet he feels like he knows him, like he knows the omega is about to give up before even trying and feels disappointed because of it.

Izuku sighs, touches his own glands to make his body release more scent before he walks in.

It seems like there's no one else around, which is a relief because the smell of stress and fear in civilians usually distracts him from his main task.

Bakugo looks even taller in person and way stronger; Izuku knows that most of his aggressive attitude is related to his biology as a prime alpha.

Despite what happened between them, Izuku has forgiven him already, he had to, in order to move on from his past; he also forgave his other bullies a while ago.

It seems he hasn't noticed him yet; he's still pacing around, left arm moving uselessly at his side, it can be because it's broken or just due to the injury that's causing him to bleed...

After taking a deep breath, Izuku takes a few steps closer, releasing a calming scent that works like a charm because the alpha stops and turns around quickly.

Izuku prays he doesn't remember him.

"Dynamight, I'm a comfort omega and I'm here to–"

"Deku?"

Oh no.

It's alright, he'll be fine, the worst thing that can happen is that Bakugo refuses to get help from him, which is most likely at this point. The pro hero doesn't look that bad actually... His eyes are not completely white, which means that he's still in control, not his inner alpha.

"What are you doing here?" Bakugo takes a few steps towards him until he's right in front of Izuku.

"I just told you. I'm a comfort omega and I'm here to help," he mumbles, looking right into Bakugo's eyes. He's still releasing a calming scent, trying to look relaxed, even though the situation is far from ideal...

"Tch! You're one of those omegas? I told them I don't need their help and I definitely don't want them to touch me!"

He looks irritated, but at least he's not yelling so Izuku decides to count it as progress...

"There are other ways to comfort someone... I won't touch you if you don't want to. We can sit on the ground and talk... Actually, it's alright if you don't want me to help you, but you must go to the paramedics, your arm doesn't look good."

Bakugo grimaces at first, but his demeanor changes suddenly; his nostrils flare like he's finally recognizing the omega's scent before looks into Izuku's green eyes with mixed emotions.

"I'm sorry..." He finally mumbles. Izuku tries not to look surprised but it's really hard.

"It's alright. It's common for alphas to get irritated in these kind of situations... You must be–"

"No," Bakugo cuts him off, shoulders relaxing as he takes another step closer to Izuku and his cheeks turn slightly pink. "I meant for what I did before. When we were in middle school... I'm sorry about that, I truly am."

The omega blinks, trying to focus... There's no time to think about the reasons behind the apology, besides, he doesn't...

"I already forgave you," Izuku whispers, looking away. This is getting too personal. As a comfort omega he must make sure nothing gets out of hand with the alphas that need his help. "Now–"

"Of course you did," Bakugo rolls his eyes, half irritated, half amused. "However, I still want to make it up to you..."

"There's no need, Dynamight."

Bakugo grimaces at his own hero name for some reason. Izuku tries to ignore it.

"I'm going to make it up to you."

The omega stops himself from rolling his eyes; they probably won't see each other after that so it's okay.

"Do you feel good enough to walk outside and let the paramedics–"

"I... I don't want them to touch me," Bakugo almost growls and Izuku can feel his inner alpha protesting at the suggestion as well. It's more than clear that he's not completely fine yet.

"Okay. It's okay," Izuku smiles at him, trying not to look at the hero's arm with worry.

"How does the comforting thing work?"

"I usually take the alpha's hand, get close to them and try to make them feel better by nuzzling against them or running my fingers through their hair. But if you don't like physical contact, we can just talk."

"Do you do this for other alphas?" Bakugo frowns, irritation clear in his scent, his inner alpha is really upset about something at the moment, almost angry.

"Yes, that's my job..."

The alpha huffs, but doesn't say anything else about that. Suddenly, after having an internal battle with himself, Bakugo sits on the ground; by the way his eyes close, his arm must be hurting a lot.

"It's alright if I ask you to sit on my lap?"

The omega tries to focus, but he's too surprised not to blink a couple of times in confusion. Bakugo has certainly changed, he's more considerate or at least he's trying to be... The other thing that puzzles Izuku is that he thought the alpha didn't enjoy physical contact and yet he's waiting for Izuku to sit on his lap.

"Yes, a-alright," he shouldn't be nervous, it's really common for other alphas to want to be close to an omega, Izuku has done this before. It shouldn't be different... It's definitely not different at all...

Taking a deep breath, Izuku decides to pretend Bakugo is just another alpha... He sits on the other's lap and looks up at him with a smile.

The pro hero's cheeks turn slightly pink again.

Focusing on his scent, on the tension he can smell on him, Izuku rubs their noses together.

"Is this alright?"

"It's more than okay," Bakugo mumbles, closing his eyes to enjoy the sensation. His inner alpha purrs... His scent is responding quite well to Izuku's.

Strong fingers touch the back of his head and the next thing the omega knows is that Bakugo is bringing their foreheads together.

"I'm sorry for not apologizing before, I should've looked for you–"

"It's okay," Izuku cuts him off. Why does Bakugo keep making everything too personal?

"I'm sorry, Izuku," he mumbles again before burying his face in the curve of the omega's neck. "You smell really good... You must be a prime omega..."

Izuku can't help but chuckle. He's the most plain, normal omega that has ever existed. He's so boring he was born quirkless as well...

"I'm not."

"You're wrong," Bakugo argues, prompting Izuku to roll his eyes. Instead of saying something else, he pulls apart (prompting Bakugo to pout) to look at the alpha in the eyes.

"How are you feeling? Do you think we can walk outside now? Everyone must be worried..."

"Not yet, let me just..." Bakugo leans closer before nuzzling against Izuku's cheek. He sighs, looking a lot better. "Alright... Let's go."

Before they walk past the entrance, Bakugo stops and turns around to stare at Izuku again; he looks genuinely worried.

"I don't... want to hurt anyone," he confesses. It must have been really hard for him to say those words. Well, the Bakugo he used to know would have never admitted something like that.

"You won't," Izuku assures him, taking his good hand and intertwining their fingers together. "Trust me."

Bakugo nods, looks at their hands and pulls Izuku outside the building. Uravity glances with concern at Izuku, but calms down as soon as the omega smiles at her.

The paramedic asks a couple of questions to the pro hero before she starts patching him up; the alpha tenses for a moment, but relaxes when Izuku tugs his hand gently.

When she's done, the omega let's go of Bakugo's hand and takes a couple of steps back as two police officers get closer to ask about the robbery, Uravity has joined them as well.

"De-Izuku... Wait for me," the alpha says quickly before turning back to face the officers again. Uravity quirks up her brows at him and even Eraserhead is a little bit curious about it.

However, Izuku is tired and needs to go back to his apartment to process everything that just happened. He doesn't have the time or the energy to explain why an alpha is using his first name to address him; it's against the rules, alphas and comfort omegas are not supposed to get attached.

Which, fortunately, is not the case between Bakugo and him... Besides, the pro hero probably doesn't know the rules since it's more than obvious this is his first time accepting help from a comfort omega.

He looks around, realizing that no one is looking at him and sneaks away; he knows Bakugo wanted to tell him something, but Izuku is not in the mood and it's not like they'll see each other again anyway.

Chapter Text

The next day he’s back at the office, he does all the paperwork for his last assignment trying not to think too much about Bakugo. Which is contradicting because he’s the last alpha he helped calm down yesterday.

Izuku sighs, sitting in front of his computer as he hears his fellow comfort omegas walking around the office. He likes his job, although he still thinks about applying for a position in Hatsume’s company; he’s always liked to design and make hero suits, he has a couple of ideas already for the pro heroes working at the moment, but he’s not sure if his ideas are good enough.

He likes what he does now, because this way, even though he doesn’t have a quirk, he can still help people. However, Izuku has never thought about this job as a permanent one due to the fact that it requires the omegas to stay unmated.

It makes sense; the alphas who have snapped or have been consumed by their instincts are very unstable, they wouldn’t react very well if they saw a permanent mark or smelled another alpha all over the omega who’s trying to comfort them. In the best case scenario, they just completely reject the omega, in the worst they become violent and possessive.

Izuku doesn’t want to mate just yet, he hasn’t met anyone he wants to spend the rest of his life with, but he’s sure he wants to do that eventually. He wants to have a couple of pups as well.

“Good morning!” An omega girl says, smiling happily as she leans over his desk.

She’s been working there longer than he has.

“Morning! Are you going out on an assignment today?”

“In a couple of minutes, although there’s nothing to worry about, just a couple of nervous alphas. They said it’s just a robbery.”

Another one. They’ve been having a lot of those lately.

“Who are the pro heroes?” Izuku asks, curious.

“We still don’t know until we get there, Aoyama is coming with me as well!”

Aoyama is a really good comfort omega, he’s also a very good friend of Izuku’s, they understand each other better than anyone else because they’re the only quirkless ones.

“That’s not why she’s here though, mon ami,” Aoyama pops up from behind the girl and pushes her aside to hug the green haired omega and nuzzle against his cheek.

Izuku chuckles, before moving away to see his friend better.

“What is it then?”

“Everyone is talking about your latest assignment. Is it true you got to comfort Dynamight?” She asks, already excited.

“Uhh… Yes, I did,” he mumbles, deciding that it’s better if no one finds out that the alpha was his childhood friend and bully at some point.

“He didn’t hurt you, did he?” She asks, excitement vanishing for a moment to be replaced with concern. Aoyama looks worried too.

“No, of course not!” Izuku says immediately, trying to fight his irritation, he’s not sure why it bothers him so much the fact that they believe Bakugo could do something like that. “I know everyone says he’s aggressive and maybe he is a bit when he’s around villains, but he’s not bad like some of people claim he is. He’s… He was very kind to me.”

“Oh, no! That’s worse!” The omega girl says, confusing Izuku for a moment. “I mean I could deal with him being an ass… But him being good and hot is too much for me!”

Both Izuku and Aoyama chuckle at that.

“I hope I get to comfort him next!”

“You shouldn’t do that, if you’re planning to be serious about him,” Izuku finds himself saying suddenly, there’s something that makes him feel a little bit sad about the thought, but he pushes those weird feelings aside quickly. “You know we can’t get attached to the alphas we're–”

“Pff!” The omega rolls her eyes. “You know that rule has been broken so many times! A couple of omegas have met their perfect matches working here!”

Yes, and some omegas have gotten their hearts broken as well, but Izuku decides not to say that out loud.

“Just be careful…”

“Don’t worry about me, Midoriya!” She says before Aoyama pulls her towards the entrance.

“Come on, we need to go,” he says before grinning back at Izuku and adding: “I’ll see you tonight!”

The green haired omega nods, before turning towards his computer again; Izuku had forgotten for a moment that every week Aoyama and he stay in his house to watch a couple of movies together.

***

Just a couple of hours later, he gets another assignment; there are a few tense pro heroes who just captured three villains trying to kidnap a group of teenage girls.

Sometimes it’s not what happens during the battle what affects an alpha, but the suffering of the victims.

Fortunately, Izuku gets enough information from the paramedics to figure out the girls are mostly fine, although they’re still nervous and scared. He really hopes they get reunited with their families soon.

“You’re a comfort omega, right?”

Izuku turns around and immediately recognizes Red Riot; the omega enjoys reading about pro heroes and knows a couple (maybe a lot) of things about them. He blinks a couple of times, reminding himself he’s not there as a fan… He’s doing his job.

“Yes,” he nods, noticing the sour scent coming from the pro hero. He’s obviously sad. “Is it okay if I touch you?”

Instead of a reply, Red Riot spreads his arms and Izuku jumps into the embrace. He makes sure to release a calming scent.

“Do you want to talk about it?”

“I prefer not to,” the alpha mumbles, looking like he doesn’t want to disappoint him.

“It’s alright!” Izuku assures him, nuzzling against his cheek; he’s glad the alpha is not using his quirk at the moment.

“I can’t believe you got yourself the prettiest one, Kirishima!” Pinky rushes towards them, alpha scent getting stronger with every step she takes. “I want him to hug me too!”

She’s another pro hero Izuku is a fan of, but he must remain professional so he decides to help her find another omega because he can tell she’s tense as well.

“Come here, Ashido!” Red Riot grins, before Izuku can say or do anything. “I don’t mind!”

Usually it’s not good to comfort two alphas at the same time, especially ones who have gone through a difficult situation, because most alphas are possessive and jealous, even if part of them are aware the omega who’s helping them doesn’t belong to them.

However, these two seem to be more than okay with sharing, as Izuku finds out a second later when Pinky hugs them both. Suddenly, the omega is trapped in between two alphas who are nuzzling against his cheeks.

“You’re the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!” Pinky mumbles happily against him.

“Thanks,” Izuku says, feeling a little bit flustered. When he notices they’re feeling better, he starts moving away. “I think we should go now. The paramedics might want to check on you.”

They’re really nice, Izuku likes them.

***

Both Eijiro and Ashido go back to the agency, feeling way better already. The omega is really good at what he does.

“We should’ve asked him for his number,” Ashido tells him. “I can tell we’d become friends in no time. Maybe we can introduce him to Blasty so he’s not grumpy anymore…”

Eijiro tries not to grin at her, he knows exactly what his friend is thinking.

“I believe comfort omegas are not allowed to mate…”

“That’s not fair!” Ashido pouts. “Listen, I have a natural matchmaker talent and I can assure you he’s the perfect omega for Blasty.”

“I wouldn’t want to expose that cinnamon roll to Bakugo’s temper, that wouldn’t be manly at all…”

“I bet Blasty would melt as soon as he saw him. He’d be really soft to him–”

“I’m not sure about that… However, we can’t do anything because those omegas can’t mate.”

Eijiro tries to ignore Ashido’s pout and instead focuses on the familiar sound of someone stomping their way towards the break room.

It could only be one person.

Bakugo walks in, looking particularly upset; Eijiro is sure something happened to him a couple of days ago because he’s been a little bit grumpier lately.

Suddenly, his head snaps towards Ashido and him before he bares his teeth at them, they hear a growl and suddenly the prime alpha is right in front of them.

“You smell like spring, like endless spring,” he snarls, startling them.

“Hey, calm down Blasty! This is not the way to treat your friends!” Ashido narrows her eyes, trying not to growl back at him because it’d make it worse.

The other pro heroes around have started to get tense.

“You mean the omega?” Eijiro blurts out. He knows he still has the scent all over him.

Bakugo gets angrier at that, he’s losing control…

“Why do you smell like my Izuku?”

“You mean the comfort omega? Do you know him?”

It seems those two questions were everything Bakugo needed to be himself again. He blinks a couple of times at Ashido, but doesn’t give her an answer.

“I’m… sorry,” the blond alpha mumbles, looking down. Eijiro knows how difficult is for him to apologize, but he’s glad he’s making an effort.

“Who’s Izuku?”

When Bakugo softens at the mention of the name, Ashido gapes at him, almost in shock.

“The omega you mention… Is he cute, with green hair and emerald eyes?”

Eijiro tries not to smile when his friend uses the word “cute” to describe the omega. He’s tempted, but he knows that’s not the time to tease his friend about it.

“Yes, the cutest thing ever!” Ashido says, prompting Bakugo to growl again… Oh, he’s jealous.

“His name is Midoriya Izuku… He’s… He was my childhood friend,” Bakugo says, looking at the ground. “Do you have his number? Do you know how I can find him?”

Eijiro shakes his head.

“Have you tried calling the company to get his number?” Ashido asks.

“Yeah… But they won’t give it to me… Something about company rules to keep their employees safe,” the alpha huffs, looking irritated. “I just want to see him again. I need to make it up to him.”

“What are you talking about, Blasty?”

Bakugo takes a deep breath before looking at Ashido, whatever it is he wants to say is obviously bothering him. He looks full of regret for a moment.

“I bullied him when we were in middle school.”

Oh. Eijiro understands better now or at least he hopes he does. Although he has the feeling there’s another reason why Bakugo wants to see Midoriya again, judging by the way he reacted to smelling the omega’s scent on them.

He looks at Ashido and they both silently agree to help their friend find the omega.

Chapter Text

When Izuku gets home he realizes he’s more tired than he initially thought, but he takes a shower anyway and starts making dinner before Aoyama arrives.

With relief, he realizes he smells like himself again; being a comfort omega usually means getting back to his apartment with different scents all over him. It’s difficult when he’s still at work and has to quickly clean his neck or change his t-shirt in the middle of the day before taking care of another alpha. Most of them are possessive and territorial and they’re even worse when they’re in a tense situation, no matter if they’re aware the omega who is approaching them doesn’t belong to them… or anyone for that matter.

Izuku hears a few knocks on his door before turning off the stove and welcoming his guest.

Mon ami!” Aoyama grins from ear to ear, showing him a chocolate box and a few bags of chips. “I brought snacks!”

While Izuku starts setting up the table, Aoyama sits on the couch to choose the movie for that night, he also talks about his day. It’s mostly the usual: getting to help a few civilians and pro heroes relax and feel better while the paramedics do their jobs.

Right before they start eating dinner, Izuku decides to tell his friend about Bakugo, about what happened during work…

“You ran away,” Aoyama comments, startling the other omega.

“What do you mean?”

“He told you to wait and you panicked. Why?” His friend looks a little bit amused for some reason.

“I-I didn’t panic!” Izuku stammers, feeling suddenly nervous. “Kacchan is not… I’m not scared of him.”

For a couple of minutes, while Aoyama starts washing the dishes, there’s nothing but silence between them and Izuku doesn’t like it because it makes him remember what happened, it makes him think about the blond alpha.

“I didn’t mean that,” Aoyama says after a while, like he didn’t stop talking at all. He takes Izuku’s hand and leads him towards the couch. “I think you’re scared because even though you haven’t seen him in years until now, your relationship can never be professional; he knows you too well for that.”

Izuku sighs; as usual, Aoyama is right. The problem is that he hasn’t made a choice; part of him thinks the chance of seeing him again is almost nonexistent (because he’s not the only comfort omega who helps pro heroes) but the truth is that if it happened once, it could happen again. Most of his co-workers are not that strict when it comes to setting boundaries with the alphas they have helped or are currently helping.

But Izuku doesn’t want to risk it, sometimes closeness and hormones lead to confusion and both omegas and alphas end up heartbroken because of it.

Comfort omegas can’t mate because alphas in a wild state would immediately know if the omega who’s trying to help them is mated and most of them react in a bad way when they smell another alpha on them… That’s why they must remain unmated and if they have decided to settle down and have pups they must quit their job immediately.

However, that doesn’t mean they can’t make friends or spend time with alphas in a platonic way…

Izuku could do that with Bakugo, they can try to be friends again; it’s not like Izuku wants an alpha and he’s sure Bakugo would never want an omega like him anyway.

They can be friends as long as Izuku never comforts him again.

“I think you should give him a chance. He said he wanted to make it up to you after all…” Aoyama mumbles, as if he’s been reading his friend’s mind this whole time.

“I will.” Izuku nods, suddenly determined. However, his shy smile vanishes suddenly. “I don’t have his number though…”

Maybe he should leave things be… Or leave it to fate.

***

They always arrive in vans after the conflict with the villains is over; Izuku only gets to see the aftermath of the fight and sometimes a couple of people getting patched up by the paramedics.

“What’s the matter?” He asks the people next to the ambulance.

“It’s pro hero Shoto; he had an argument with Endeavor and now his left side is on fire and he refuses to get help,” one of the civilians explains.

“Is his father still here?” Izuku knows a little bit about the situation: Endeavor is a terrible father and pro hero Shoto hates him, not that Izuku blames him though. Besides, since they’re both alphas, things usually get a lot more complicated when they see each other.

“No, the other pro hero yelled at him to get out and he did,” another civilian adds. “But he hasn’t calmed down.”

The omega nods, before taking off his scent patches and rubbing his glands to release his scent as he starts looking for the pro hero. He spots him quickly, pacing around next to a fire hydrant (which Izuku finds a little bit funny). There are some police officers next to him (keeping their distance while looking at him with worry).

It’s a good thing his hero suit is made specifically for his type of quirk (Izuku has made a few notes about it) otherwise he’d be half naked at the moment because his left side is actually on fire.

Izuku takes a couple of steps closer to the alpha (he’s not afraid actually, he’s helped him a couple of times already) and tries to release a calming scent.

The pro hero recognizes him immediately, even before turning around to face him.

“Midoriya!”

“Good afternoon, pro hero Shoto!” Izuku grins like he doesn’t feel the warmth coming from the hero due to the flames all over the left side of his body.

“Stop right there, I don’t want to hurt you,” the alpha mumbles, not realizing that the fire has decreased significantly already… The more Izuku gets closer the less strong it becomes.

“It’s alright, alpha. I’m not afraid. I know you won’t hurt me.”

The omega notices the second Todoroki closes his eyes and takes a deep breath; he’s always liked Izuku’s scent.

“Is it okay if I hold your right hand?”

Perhaps Todoroki himself has noticed the change because he nods and reaches out to him to keep Izuku away from his left side.

“I am here,” the omega mumbles sweetly, remembering the hero he used to admire the most: All Might. He knows he’s not a hero, but Izuku enjoys helping people nonetheless.

“Thank you,” the pro hero whispers back, shoulders finally relaxing as the flames on his head start disappearing.

“Why don’t you talk to me about your sister?” He asks, moving a little bit closer to him. “You told me you were going to share her katsudon recipe with me.”

Todoroki chuckles at that and starts telling him about the last time he visited his siblings. Halfway into their conversation, the fire vanishes completely.

“Can I hold you, Midoriya?”

“Of course,” Izuku gets pulled into a tight hug as soon as he nods in agreement. He nuzzles against the pro hero’s chest and gets a little bit surprised when the alpha almost purrs in response. “What happened?”

“The old man thought he could tell me how to do my job.”

“I’m sorry.”

“It’s alright,” Todoroki smiles down at him gently. “I shouldn’t have let it get to me.”

Izuku squeezes his hand gently, feeling as the alpha leans closer to press his nose against his curls.

“Can I have your number?”

“Huh?”

“Just in case I need you when I’m not working,” Todoroki mumbles, scratching the right side of his face nervously. “I’ll pay you, of course.”

Izuku knows some of his co-workers do that already; the extra money would be great actually, although he knows it’s not good to be around the same alpha a lot.

“Alright… But I’ll think about it, if that’s okay with you?”

“Of course.”

***

He can smell Midoriya in the break room, but he’s not a pro hero so Eijiro knows it must be coming from an alpha… Which is bad because even though Bakugo tries to control himself, Eijiro knows now Midoriya means a lot to him, which is why he gets insanely jealous when that happens.

The good thing is that Bakugo is on patrol at the moment… The bad thing is that the spring like scent comes from Todoroki, Bakugo’s rival.

They don’t like each other that much and Eijiro knows this could make everything a lot worse.

“Hi, Todoroki!” He grins, sitting next to him.

“Kirishima,” the other pro hero nods as he keeps nibbling at his dinner.

“Uhh… If you don’t mind me asking… Why do you… smell like that? I mean I think I recognize the omega’s scent.”

“Oh, yeah. Maybe you have met him as well,” Todoroki says. “He’s my comfort omega, his name is Midoriya Izuku.”

Eijiro bites his bottom lip to stop himself from pointing out that comfort omegas don’t belong to any alpha; perhaps Todoroki is just trying to say that Midoriya helped him recently.

“I suppose you saw him today?”

“Yeah.”

“But uhh… Why haven’t you cleaned up yet? I mean isn’t a bit distracting to have his scent on you still?”

“I always keep Midoriya’s scent on me as long as I can, I like it, it makes me feel better.”

“Right…” Eijiro looks around nervously, praying to all the gods that exist Bakugo doesn’t come back soon. “So you have seen him a couple of times?”

“Yes, I think our scents are very compatible… that’s why I asked for his number so he can help me when I’m not on duty as well,” Todoroki explains calmly. He’s usually very serious and doesn’t talk much, which means that at the moment he’s in a very good mood.

“Do you have his number?” Eijiro decides to ignore the part about Todoroki wanting to see Midoriya outside work in order to focus on the number. “Can you give it to me?”

“Why?” When Todoroki narrows his eyes, Eijiro realizes he won’t be getting the omega’s number anytime soon.

“Because I might need him too?”

“You should ask him yourself then, I don’t want him to get mad at me for sharing this with someone else…”

“Come on, bro!”

“Why are you so desperate for it?”

“It’s not for me! It’s for Bakubro!” Eijiro blurts out, realizing his mistake a little bit too late.

“Bakugo is an aggressive alpha, I don’t think I want him near Midoriya…”

“Come on, man! You know you’re being unfair! Bakugo is not bad!”

“I still don’t think I should be giving anyone Midoriya’s number, sorry,” Todoroki mumbles, before getting out of the break room.

Eijiro sighs, knowing he just screwed everything.

But he can fix it, right?

***

It’s been a while since Izuku saw something like this; the building has completely collapsed, some people are crying, others are hurt, although most of them seem to be alright.

By the things he’s heard from the police it seems the villain was apprehended, most pro heroes in the scene are taking care of the civilians and there are just a few alphas who need help. Then why is someone sitting at the top of the ruins of the building looking down in utter defeat?

“Someone is in the hospital,” one of the officers tells Izuku. “A civilian. We don’t know if she’s going to make it.”

Oh. That’s why.

“Dynamight is not happy about it,” says another and Izuku’s heart beats in pain because he knows how Bakugo must feel right now. “I think he needs you.”

The omega is not sure why they’re talking to him specifically, until he realizes one policewoman was there when he comforted Bakugo the first time.

As soon as Izuku gets closer, he notices the smell of distress coming from the alpha.

He could snap at any moment.

“Dynamight?” He looks up. There’s no response. He tries to release his scent, but there’s still smoke around and the pro hero is too high up for him to actually smell the omega.

Izuku takes a deep breath and closes his eyes for a moment, knowing he’s going to break a couple of rules… But Bakugo needs him and there’s no other way to reach him at the moment.

“Kacchan!”

“Izuku?”

In the blink of an eye, the alpha jumps from the ruined building, slowing his fall with the explosions that come from his hands.

“Izuku,” Bakugo says in a whisper, before pulling the omega closer as he sits on the ground to place Izuku on his lap.

“Kacchan,” he mumbles, running his fingers through the blond’s hair before Bakugo buries his face in the curve of his neck and takes a deep breath.

“I’ve missed you.”

“Me too.”

Chapter Text

Izuku feels Bakugo nuzzling against his neck, it’s nice, their scents are combining with each other temporarily, although the omega knows he must stop it before the alpha ends up accidentally scenting him.

“Do you want to talk about it?” Izuku asks, pulling away from him a little bit, ignoring his unhappy huff in order to press their foreheads together.

For a moment it looks like Bakugo is going to shake his head or probably growl, but his shoulders relax instead as he rubs his nose against the omega’s. The hands that are grabbing Izuku’s waist pull him even closer before the pro hero starts telling him everything that happened.

As Izuku thought, the alpha is blaming himself for what happened to the girl. He cares so much, even though he usually tries to hide it under anger and indifference.

“You did everything you could,” Izuku says sincerely, he even gets a little irritated when he notices Bakugo is about to protest, he’s about to blame himself again. “I know you. I know you push yourself to the limit every single time.”

The young Bakugo would’ve yelled at him to leave him alone, to stop trying to make him feel better because he was weak. However, this Bakugo keeps staring into the omega’s eyes, until a fond smile lifts the corners of his lips. There are a couple of tears on his cheeks the alpha quickly wipes off.

“Promise you’ll stay with me, Izuku,” Bakugo mumbles, surprising the omega before he embraces him completely. It’s not uncomfortable, even though he’s still sitting on the alpha’s lap. “Don’t leave me.”

When his heart beats almost painfully inside his chest at the pro hero’s broken voice, Izuku panics after realizing this is not at all professional. Perhaps it’s his fault for calling him Kacchan instead of Dynamight or just alpha in the first place.

But it’s alright… They can be friends, as long as this is the last time Izuku helps Bakugo in these situations.

The omega manages to untangle himself from the pro hero, who looks hurt when Izuku pulls away. However, he visibly calms down when the omega offers his hand. Bakugo takes it without hesitation and rises from the ground. Their height difference is more evident now and for a moment Izuku feels tiny compared to him.

“Let’s go take you to the paramedics, they’re probably desperate to see you,” the omega says, clearly avoiding the other conversation.

Bakugo nods, albeit reluctantly, and lets the omega lead him towards the ambulances.

Turns out he doesn’t have any major injuries so they let him go almost immediately.

“The girl woke up,” one of the paramedics informs him suddenly, Bakugo tenses for a moment but relaxes as soon as he intertwines his fingers with Izuku’s. “She’ll be alright.”

“You should go see her, talk to her,” Izuku mumbles, smiling encouragingly at the alpha.

“Come with me.”

He shouldn’t, his job is done; he must go back home now, change his clothes–

“Please, Izuku…”

But the omega can’t leave someone who needs him, Bakugo is begging him with his eyes, almost scared of Izuku’s response.

“Okay.”

Izuku waits outside the room, but watches as the girl smiles up at the pro hero and thanks him, or at least that’s what it looks like because the omega can’t actually hear what’s going on inside. Bakugo dismisses her words with a hand gesture, looking grumpy and like he doesn’t care, but Izuku knows he’s relieved to see her conscious again.

She has a couple of bandages around her forehead, but it seems she’s healing quickly.

As soon as the alpha gets out of the room, he pulls Izuku into a very tight hug that surprises the omega. He even blushes when he notices the girl smiling at them knowingly from inside the room.

“Kacchan,” he whispers, taking a few steps back and trying not to smile amusedly when he notices the pout on Bakugo’s face. “Do you want us to be friends?”

Holding both of Izuku’s hands in his, the alpha gets closer again and presses their foreheads together. Izuku is not sure what he sees in those red eyes, but it makes him shiver; Bakugo has always been so intense…

“I want us to be close to each other.”

He’s sincere, Izuku can tell by his scent and the softness in his voice. But for a moment he’s not sure they’re talking about the same thing.

It’s friendship, right? He’s talking about friendship. What else could he possibly talk about?

“Then I can’t be your comfort omega anymore,” Izuku mumbles, moving away from the alpha’s grasp.

“Why not?”

“Because we could get… attached to each other,” he tries to explain, cheeks turning bright red as soon as the words leave his mouth.

“What’s the problem with getting attached?” Bakugo asks, sounding hurt and confused at the same time.

It’d be a fake attachment that usually ends in heartbreak… Izuku thinks, but he can’t say it. The omega sighs and just shakes his head.

“I’d rather have you as a friend because I know being a comfort omega is only your job.”

“Okay,” Izuku says, looking back up at the alpha. Part of him feels a little bit upset that this means Bakugo will be asking some other omega for help, but Izuku knows this is for the best so he pushes his feelings aside.

“Give me your number.”

They exchange phone numbers and Izuku tries not to feel too nervous about it even though part of him is telling him everything’s going to change after that.

“Are you free this weekend?”

The question startles him for a moment; maybe it’s because pro heroes don’t usually ask him those kind of things. But Bakugo is his friend now.

“Yes.”

“Great!” The alpha smiles, his scent has changed, it smells like he’s quite pleased. “I’m going to take you to the amusement park, so prepare yourself, nerd.”

For a couple of seconds he panics, but Izuku reminds himself that’s not a date, they’re friends, besides, the alpha had told him he wanted to make it up to him for what happened when they were younger.

“Alright!”

“I’ll text you, Izuku.”

***

Sometimes Izuku takes a few notes and doodles a couple of designs for the pro heroes he’s met. He enjoys coming up with different things to help them use their quirks in the best way possible, just like Hatsume does. Of course she’s way better than he is, but the omega tries his best.

It also helps him relax since that’s one of the things he enjoys the most doing in his free time.

“You haven’t touched your lunch,” Aoyama comments, sitting right next to him.

“I’ll finish this one quickly first,” Izuku mumbles, thinking about Bakugo’s quirk. He could add a couple of firepower weapons to his suit, something that could be constantly charging with his sweat and be used when needed. And perhaps make his winter suit even more–

“Those are good,” Aoyama mumbles, looking over the green haired omega’s shoulder.

“You said that because you’re my friend,” Izuku says, almost accusingly even though he still blushes, enjoying the compliment.

“I’m not a liar, mon ami, you know that.” Aoyama says before adding: “Why haven’t you showed those to Hatsume?”

“I sent a job application a couple of days ago,” he mumbles nervously, scratching his left cheek with his finger. He still can’t believe he finally did that. “I haven’t heard from her agency yet.”

“You will,” Aoyama assures him, looking more confident than Izuku ever will. “Because you’re really talented.”

The green haired omega chuckles, rolling his eyes, although he still pulls his friend into a tight hug, which prompts one of their co-workers to narrow her eyes at them.

She’s holding a single red rose in her hand that immediately gives to a very confused Izuku.

“Please consider going out with me on a date, Midoriya!” She’s flustered, but determined.

“Huh? I… But we’re both comfort omegas, we can't–”

“It’s perfect actually!” She says, suddenly growing confident. “We both do the same for a living so I won’t get jealous whenever you come back smelling like an alpha. And I’m sure alphas won’t mind you smelling like another omega so it’ll be safe for me to scent you!”

She’s thinking about scenting him already? Izuku squeaks, feeling himself blushing to the tip of his ears, Aoyama doesn’t even try to help him, in fact he looks suspiciously amused by the situation.

“I… Listen…”

“Please think about it!” She cuts him off with a smile. “Let me know in a couple of days!”

She doesn’t give him a chance because she rushes out of the break room after that. Izuku is still looking down at the rose in his hand, trying to process what just happened.

“I can’t believe someone just asked me out.”

“It’s not that hard to believe, you’re really cute and half of the people here have had a crush on you at some point.”

Izuku blushes again, even though he tells himself that Aoyama is joking.

“No, don’t look at me like that! I’m telling you the truth! I bet some of the pro heroes you help also have a thing for you, but they haven’t said anything because they know you’re not allowed to mate anyone.”

“That’s not possible,” Izuku shakes his head, stammering a little. “Let’s j-just talk about something else, shall we?”

“Fine, but you can’t avoid this conversation forever! I have a lot of things to say about that…”

Izuku just hopes he can distract him enough to forget about it.

***

He sees Uravity the next day; the beta pulls him into her arms while she’s being patched up by a paramedic that almost looks jealous of Izuku. He tries not to chuckle.

“How do you smell so good?” The pro hero whines, rubbing her cheek against Izuku’s. “Your scent is so sweet!”

“Well, I’m an omega so…”

“Not all omegas smell like you,” she cuts him off, pouting. Izuku can’t help but smile at the faces she’s making. Even though he basically works to help her, he also considers her a very good friend.

For a moment, he’s tempted to ask about Bakugo; it’s not like he hasn’t texted him since they last saw each other, he has… a couple of times, mostly at night before Izuku goes to sleep. Bakugo asks about his day like any other of Izuku’s friends would. The omega asks how he’s doing in return, but Bakugo insists he’s fine, even though none of Izuku’s co-workers have mentioned helping the pro hero yet.

He shouldn’t ask really, it’s none of his business, besides he’s nervous enough about going to the amusement park with him, as Bakugo is constantly reminding him.

“Are you alright, Midoriya?”

“Of course, Uravity!”

“Please call me Uraraka, for some reason my hero name sounds weird coming from you,” she grins, squeezing Izuku’s cheek playfully.

“But–”

He gets cut off by his own phone; he checks the messages quickly and realizes it’s Todoroki asking about Izuku considering going to his house that night.

The omega feels his cheeks burn as he wonders if it was a good idea to agree to Todoroki’s proposal. The extra money is nice and some of his co-workers have told him it’s mostly the same to make house calls as comforting an alpha in the field.

“What is it?” Uravity asks with amused curiosity upon seeing Izuku’s face.

“I’m going to visit pro hero Shoto tonight… It’s a professional visit.”

“You do house calls?” Uravity asks, suddenly interested.

“It’s my first one actually,” Izuku mumbles, scratching his left cheek nervously. He doesn’t want to ruin it. “I need the extra money and pro hero Shoto came up with the idea so…”

“I hate rich people,” Uravity sighs suddenly, as she dramatically hugs Izuku close to her. “They always get to have the best of things…”

Izuku is confused, but too nervous thinking about seeing Todoroki that night to ask.

***

It’s a penthouse. Of course it is, the pro hero was wealthy even before becoming a professional because he’s Endeavor’s son.

The building is so beautiful and fancy, Izuku feels a little bit underdressed as he walks in and explains to the man in the front desk that Todoroki is actually waiting for him.

Perhaps this is a mistake. Izuku is not sure why he’s so nervous, he must remind himself this is exactly like what he does every day for a living.

“You’re cute.” The man comments suddenly, startling Izuku. “I’m glad he’s finally brought someone here. He’s a great guy, but he looks a bit lonely.”

Before the omega can ask what he means, Todoroki walks out of the elevator wearing civilian clothes. Izuku has never seen him without his hero suit before.

He looks tired, but still smiles before grabbing Izuku’s hand and pulling him inside the elevator with him.

“Thank you for coming, Midoriya,” he says, still holding the omega’s hand in his. The alpha clearly needs to relax so Izuku starts releasing a calming scent since they’re alone.

“What happened, hero Shoto?”

“Just call me Shoto.”

After looking at the hesitation in Izuku’s eyes, the pro hero sighs, before getting out of the elevator and into the hallway.

“At least call me Todoroki.”

Todoroki sounds right, Izuku can work with that. Then he kinda forgets about it as soon as he walks in the penthouse; Todoroki doesn’t have a lot of things but everything in there looks expensive.

“Would you like something to eat?”

“No, I’m fine,” Izuku mumbles before sitting on the couch. As soon as the hero sits next to him and his mismatched eyes met Izuku’s the nervousness starts quickly fading away. “So… what happened?”

“Family dinner.”

“I see,” Izuku nods before spreading his arms so he can pull Todoroki into a hug. He strokes his back and lets the alpha whisper everything to him as he rests his forehead on Izuku’s shoulder.

Once he focuses on making Todoroki feel better, everything else gets easier.

Maybe he can actually make this work.

Chapter Text

Izuku is convinced now he can make things work with Todoroki. Yesterday it was pretty much the same as he did in the field; he even went back home early, even though Todoroki offered him a spare room to stay for the night.

He's smiling, opening his bento box in the break room when he decides to check his email on his phone. Unfortunately, the grin disappears from his face quickly.

"Hey, mon ami!" Aoyama takes a sit next to him, before he starts talking about his day so far. After a couple of seconds, he notices Izuku's expression. "What happened?"

"Oh... It's nothing," the green haired omega tries to smile again, but it doesn't fool his friend. He sighs before adding: "I got an email from one of Hatsume's employees saying she's not hiring anyone else at the moment. They say the team is complete."

Izuku certainly isn't expecting the deep frown he sees on Aoyama's face as soon as he tells him.

"That's nonsense!" He says, outraged. "They haven't seen your designs yet! How could–"

"It's alright, really... I can wait another year..."

"No, I bet they didn't even tell Hatsume!"

Izuku has never seen his friend so pissed before; it warms up his heart to see him so offended on his behalf. And even though he really wanted to get at least a job interview, it's not like he is in a hurry.

Besides, even if he gets an interview it doesn't mean he'll get the job. Izuku likes his own designs, but he knows he's biased because he's worked so hard on most of them.

Perhaps he can improve them even more if he has another year to work on all of them.

"Maybe you can ask one of the pro heroes a favor," Aoyama says, looking a little bit more relaxed now. "They can even tell Hatsume herself! I'm sure she'll be really happy to see your designs!"

Izuku immediately shakes his head.

"Why not? I bet most of those alphas would do anything for you. You have helped them dozens of times!"

"But I don't do it to get something in return. This is my job; that'd be really unprofessional!"

"I'm sure if she actually sees your work, if she actually talks to you she'll hire you on the spot! You have talent and I know that's what you really want to do."

Izuku smiles before pulling his friend into a tight hug.

"Thanks for caring so much about me, but I'll be fine. I like to help heroes this way too. I can wait another year."

"It's okay to ask for help every now and then," Aoyama says, although he looks like he's not going to pressure him more. "Just remember that I'm here for you–"

"Midoriya!"

Both Aoyama and Izuku jump away from one another, getting startled by their co-worker's voice. It's the omega that asked Izuku out the other day.

She doesn't look happy.

"Have you thought about what I told you?"

"Oh!" The omega blushes to the tip of his ears, because he had completely forgotten about it. "I'm sorry... But I don't think I'm ready to have a relationship at the moment."

She narrows her eyes before storming away from the room. Izuku immediately feels bad for her; perhaps he should've worded it better...

"That's for the best," Aoyama comments, still eyeing the door. "She said she wasn't going to get jealous, but she didn't look happy when you hugged me. I think she's a possessive one."

Izuku is not sure about that, but he's glad he didn't encourage her. She deserves someone who can make her happy and he's sure he's not that person.

***

He shouldn't be overthinking this. Bakugo is going to pick him up and they'll go to the amusement park like he promised. They're friends now, it's what friends are supposed to do. It'll be like hanging out with Aoyama.

And yet Izuku doesn't feel that way at all.

He takes a deep breath and gives up on taming his wild curls before he hears a knock at his door.

As he lets the alpha in he notices Bakugo looks a little bit nervous too. Actually, the pro hero is tense; Izuku wonders if he has gotten help from any of Izuku's co-workers, although he's almost certain that's not the case since none of them have mentioned him.

For a moment he worries about him and wants to ask, but it's none of his business now. He's not Bakugo's comfort omega anymore.

The alpha grins as he closes his eyes and takes a deep breath.

"This place smells like you," he comments, looking a little bit better and Izuku doesn't think twice before releasing a calming scent.

It's the only thing he's going to do, he promises himself.

"Thank you, Izuku."

"You're welcome, Kacchan."

Everything gets way easier once they're in the amusement park; Izuku finds himself forgetting about his worries and taking Bakugo's hand to drag him from one ride to another. He ends up laughing, a little bit dizzy and his hair is probably looking like a bird's nest, but the truth is that Izuku hadn't had so much fun in years.

"Let's take a break, nerd. I don't want you to end up throwing up..." Bakugo says, grinning from ear to ear, clearly teasing the omega before ruffling his hair.

"I would never!" He pouts, although he's secretly grateful for the break. Besides, he's very much interested in checking out the All Might themed attractions. And there's also a couple of games where he can win stuffed All Might figures...

"I'm sorry to interrupt, but can we take a picture with you, Dynamight?"

Bakugo doesn't seem thrilled about it, but he nods; Izuku finds the whole thing amusing and wholesome because he likes when people appreciate what Bakugo does for them every single day. He even takes a few of the photos with one of the girls' phones and chuckles when more people gather around them.

Even though he tries to be kind, at some point the pro hero gets a little bit impatient and takes Izuku in his arms before running away from his eager fans. The omega giggles until he hears one of the women screaming an apology for interrupting their date and he immediately blushes at the word and tries to deny it but they're too far away from Dynamight's fans to correct her.

Bakugo doesn't seem to be bothered by it though or maybe he just didn't hear at all.

"Are you hungry, Izuku?"

The omega is actually... His stomach has calmed enough by now and everything around him looks quite tasty, especially the crepes...

Bakugo chuckles before pulling him towards the crepe booth without even waiting for Izuku's response, he supposes he must look hungry after all.

"Don't make that face, Kacchan!" Izuku smiles as he takes the sweet crepe the alpha hands him. "Not after asking for a savory one with a lot of spice in it!"

"This is delicious, nerd!" Bakugo argues, pinching one of Izuku's freckled cheeks affectionately. "Here. Take a bite just so you realize mine is superior."

"I don't want to burn my tongue," Izuku says, shaking his head but gives in after a while. Of course, he regrets it immediately and takes a couple of bites of his sweet crepe to help with the burning sensation. "That was horrible!"

Bakugo laughs at his pain before playfully leaning closer to him. He doesn't ask Izuku, doesn't even warn him before stealing a bite from the omega's crepe.

The way he grimaces after swallowing it has Izuku chuckling and grinning from ear to ear.

"That's way too sweet..." The alpha complains as Izuku pretends to look offended. "You're going to get cavities..."

"Don't care," the omega says before stubbornly taking another bite, Bakugo rolls his eyes but Izuku knows he's trying really hard to hold back a smile.

***

"Thank you so much, Kacchan. I had fun today," Izuku mumbles, standing outside his apartment, looking at the floor before turning his head up to finally meet the alpha's red eyes. He feels exhausted, but happy; his heart is beating crazily inside his chest and he feels all fuzzy and warm. Giggling, he pulls the All Might plushie Bakugo won for him closer to his chest.

He feels drunk with happiness.

"Me too, nerd," the alpha says, smiling fondly at him. He takes a few steps closer before pressing his forehead against Izuku's, surprising the omega. "Izuku... I..."

The green haired omega waits, but he notices that Bakugo is too nervous to speak, which confuses him for a moment. Is there something wrong?

"I'll text you later, okay?" Bakugo finally mumbles, although Izuku has the feeling that's not what he wanted to say at all. "So we can hang out again..."

"Of course!" The omega nods, feeling better, if Bakugo wants to go out with him again it means everything's fine, right? "I'll see you soon!"

He can wait to tell Aoyama what happened.

***

"You lied to me!"

Izuku certainly didn't expect the girl he tried to kindly reject to yell at him that Monday morning.

"What do you mean?" He asks, genuinely confused.

The other omega almost bares her teeth at him. She has her phone in her hands and is using it to point at him with it.

"You said you weren't ready to have a relationship!"

"Yes, I did and I meant it because–"

"Then why are you dating Dynamight?" She turns her phone around to show him a picture of him and Bakugo walking side by side with their crepes and smiling at each other.

"Where did you get that?" Izuku asks, feeling a little bit flustered suddenly.

"It's all over Twitter," she huffs, narrowing her eyes. "Everyone's talking about Dynamight's cute little omega!"

That certainly could be a problem, but Izuku doesn't let himself panic; that's a false rumor, one that will disappear as soon as Bakugo denies it during his next interview.

Izuku knows he'll know how to handle it, he's sure it's not the first time someone has spread a rumor about him.

"He's my friend," he tells the other omega, who glares at him with disbelief. "We went to the amusement park as friends. I've done the same with Aoyama a couple of times!"

Izuku knows he doesn't owe her an explanation, but he's not going to let people think he's dating Bakugo because it's not true and that'd be really unprofessional.

"He would've scented me if that was true and I'm pretty sure you can tell that's not the case at all."

"I thought... I'm sorry..."

"It's just a rumor," Izuku says before leaving the break room because honestly he doesn't want her to yell at him again.

"What was that?" Aoyama asks, looking a little bit worried. "Are you okay?"

"Of course, I'll tell you later, right now I have to work."

Chapter Text

When Izuku arrives to the scene with the other omegas he realizes that one of his least favorite heroes is there too; it’s not like he disliked the Phantom thief when he met him, it’s just that the first time Izuku helped him, the pro hero didn’t ask and just took what he wanted from him.

The omega decides to avoid him this time, instead he goes to other pro heroes but to his surprise, it looks like most of them are trying not to get close to him at all. Izuku doesn’t understand, he didn’t do anything wrong, did he?

“They’re afraid of Dynamight,” a familiar voice makes him turn around. Izuku smiles as he finds Shinso next to him. He’s a very nice alpha, Izuku has helped him calm down a couple of times.

“What does Kacchan have to do with this?” The omega asks, realizing his mistake too late; his face turns bright red before he adds: “I mean Dynamight.”

“They think he’s your alpha,” Shinso tells him, one of his brows is quirked up with curiosity as he looks at the green haired omega. “Someone posted a few pictures of you two at the amusement park.”

“We’re not dating!” Izuku says immediately, feeling flustered and worried at the same time. The idea of dating Bakugo crosses his mind but he pushes it away because it seems he has a little bit of a problem at the moment. “He hasn’t even scented me! We went out as friends!”

If this is going to affect his job, he’ll have to ask Bakugo to say something publicly.

There’s a curious expression on Shinso’s face before he takes a step closer to Izuku.

“I think I need a hug,” he mumbles, looking a little bit shy out of the sudden. “You can help me and maybe the others will see that you’re available as a comfort omega.”

Izuku is not sure if the pro hero actually needs the comfort or he’s doing it for him, but he’s really grateful anyway. With a huge smile he jumps into the pro hero’s arms and nuzzles happily against him.

It’s not the first time he’s helped him relax, but for some reason Shinso looks more flustered this time than the others.

“Your hair is really soft,” the pro hero comments, running his fingers through Izuku’s wild curls.

“Thank you,” the omega says; he feels better when he notices that a couple of other alphas are looking at them with interest.

“That’s enough, it’s my turn now.”

Izuku likes to help people as much as he can, especially pro heroes since they do too much for civilians and the city in general, but his inner omega doesn’t quite like the Phantom thief at all.

“Not the best omega I’ve ever met, but I guess you know how to do your job,” the alpha says almost mockingly.

Shinso growls at him in response and pulls Izuku closer to himself, which the omega really appreciates.

“Come on, Shinso… Don’t act like you’re his knight in shining armor. It’s not like he’s going to let you bite him or–”

“You didn’t approach him earlier because you were afraid of Bakugo, right Monoma?”

“I’m not afraid of a barbarian like him!”

Shinso smirks at the other pro hero. Izuku realizes, right before the Phantom thief’s eyes turn white, that Shinso is about to use his quirk on him.

“Walk away from us and don’t get closer to Midoriya again.”

Despite himself, Izuku chuckles when he sees the other pro hero getting away from them like a zombie. Although he gets worried about Shinso for a moment.

“Won’t you get in trouble for this?”

“No,” Shinso shakes his head before nuzzling against Izuku’s hair. “Monoma is an asshole, nobody likes him. If he tells someone they’ll probably tell him he deserved it, which he did.”

After he helps other two pro heroes, who look a little bit reluctant at first, Izuku gets a call from Todoroki.

“Midoriya.”

“Yes, what is it?”

“Are you dating Bakugo?”

Knowing Todoroki cannot see him, Izuku rolls his eyes at his phone.

“No, we’re just friends.”

There’s a moment of silence during which the omega thinks Todoroki didn’t hear him at all and he’ll have to repeat himself.

“Great. Then I’d like to see you tonight, if you’re available…”

“Of course, I’ll see you in a couple of hours!” He says… Perhaps he’ll have to talk to Bakugo about it, but after he asks for Aoyama’s advice first.

***

Fortunately when he finds himself in the break room again, the girl who asked him out is nowhere to be seen.

“They told me your alpha is not letting anyone comfort him,” Aoyama doesn’t even say ‘Hi’ before blurting out all that information to him; he sits next to Izuku, pressing his shoulder against his.

The omega sighs, holding back a blush; he had no idea Bakugo would be that difficult. Maybe he made the wrong choice by deciding to become his friend instead of staying as the pro hero’s comfort omega.

“Kacchan is not my alpha.”

“How did you know I was talking about him then? I didn’t mention his name,” Aoyama chuckles, but Izuku refuses to take the bait.

“There’s no other alpha as stubborn as him,” the green haired omega mumbles.

“Touché.”

Izuku takes a deep breath before covering his face with both hands and groaning into them; it seems there’s a lot he needs to talk about with Bakugo but that’ll have to wait until tomorrow because he needs to see Todoroki first.

“Will you ever tell me why you’re trending on Twitter at the moment?”

Another frustrated groan escapes from his lips but this time gentle fingers touch the back of his neck to pull him to the side until he finds his head on Aoyama’s shoulder.

After another second, Izuku moves his own hands away from his face.

He tells him everything and ignores the fact that he feels his cheeks getting warm as he talks about the amusement park.

“Are you sure it wasn’t a date?”

“Not you too!”

Aoyama smiles before pulling the other omega into a hug.

Mon ami, I’m just saying… I mean you looked quite happy,” he comments with a mischievous glimmer in his eyes as he pulls out his phone to show him a picture of him and Bakugo taken at the amusement park.

They both look happy.

“I enjoy myself when I’m with you too.”

“It’s not the same,” Aoyama argues, shaking his head. “Besides, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Dynamight like this… The way he looks at you–”

“We’re friends!” Izuku cuts him off; he knows he sounds flustered, but he doesn’t want to think about that at the moment. Bakugo is his friend and he really doesn’t think a prime alpha like him would ever see a simple omega like Izuku in that way.

“Fine!” Aoyama rolls his eyes. “Keep living in denial. Now tell me… What are you gonna do then?”

“Talk to him. I think he needs to confirm we’re not dating on social media. The rumor it’s already affecting my job…”

“I’m not sure about that, darling. I think you should really think about what you want first. I mean I know you love helping pro heroes, but you have mentioned before that you wanted to have a family.”

He still wants to.

“At some point!” Izuku corrects him, getting flustered. Well, maybe he wouldn’t mind to have someone to go on dates with, but he can’t do any of that because of his job. Besides… He doesn’t really have anyone in mind… Not really.

“So you’ll talk to him tonight?” Aoyama sighs, probably choosing not to argue with the other omega anymore.

“No, I need to see Todoroki first.”

“Oh, right… The rich alpha,” Aoyama chuckles. “I forgot you do house calls now. Good luck with that!”

For some reason, Izuku feels like he’ll need all the luck he can gather for the next couple of days.

***

This time he has dinner with Todoroki in his penthouse. The alpha insists so much Izuku can’t say 'No’ to him.

Of course it’s not usual to let the alpha he’s helping buy him dinner, but this is not an usual type of situation. Izuku knew doing house calls would be a little bit different than comforting an alpha right after a fight against a villain.

The omega lets himself relax a little bit, not allowing his thoughts to drift back to Bakugo. He’ll have enough time to talk to him tomorrow.

Izuku helps Todoroki with the dishes, patiently waiting for the alpha to tell him something.

“Can we sit on the couch?”

Actually, Izuku is the only one who sits, because Todoroki lies next to him with his head on the omega’s lap.

“Is this okay, Midoriya?”

“It’s fine,” Izuku assures him with a gentle smile as he starts running his fingers through his hair. The change in his scent is almost immediate. Todoroki relaxes almost completely under the omega’s hand.

“I was worried when I heard you were dating Bakugo.”

Out of all the things they can talk about, why does he want to bring that up now?

“I’m not–”

“I know, you told me,” Todoroki cuts him off, looking up at him. “And I’m glad. I don’t think Bakugo would be good for you.”

“Kacchan is not bad!” In his desperation to defend his friend, the childhood name escapes from his lips. When he notices the confusion in Todoroki’s mismatched eyes, he adds: “Bakugo is a good person. Besides, I cannot date at the moment.”

“Why not?”

“I’m a comfort omega. That’s one of the rules; it’d make my job complicated at best and impossible at worst.”

“I see…” Todoroki mumbles before sitting back on the couch, scooting closer to the omega. “I still don’t like the idea of Bakugo being close to you. He has anger issues… I’ve seen him yelling at civilians.”

“But he’s never actually hurt anyone,” Izuku argues, feeling a little bit irritated on his friend’s behalf. “Besides, he’s been working on his anger issues. And he’s never been rude to me since we saw each other again.”

“What do you mean again?”

“I knew him already… From… middle school.”

The omega doesn’t say anything else and fortunately Todoroki doesn’t ask about it again, although he looks worried. Actually, Izuku is not irritated with him; he knows why Todoroki doesn’t trust people that are prone to anger.

But Bakugo is nothing like Endeavor.

“If you need anything, just call me. I can protect you.”

From him, he doesn’t say it, but Izuku knows the alpha is thinking about it. Instead of arguing with him because he knows Todoroki is not going to change his mind that easily, Izuku nuzzles against his cheek to help him relax; it’s what he came here for after all.

“Thank you. But I know how to take care of myself.”

Despite Izuku’s efforts, the protective smell coming from Todoroki doesn’t disappear completely, but at least his scent becomes more sweet.

When Izuku goes back home, he lies on his bed for a while with his eyes open, worrying about tomorrow until he falls asleep.

Chapter Text

Izuku doesn't get too much sleep that night, but he doesn't actually mind, not after he realizes his phone is what woke him up.

"Kacchan?"

"Can I come over? I need you."

The omega doesn't hesitate, Bakugo's voice sounds bad, shaky and perhaps hurt... Izuku is not sure what happened, but he needs to see the alpha himself.

He feels a little bit nervous, although he shouldn't be; it's unusual to allow an alpha to be in his apartment at that hour, but Izuku reminds himself that this is different because Bakugo is his friend. Izuku is not his comfort omega so they should be fine.

He thinks about making tea or coffee for a moment, but there's a desperate knock at the door already, so Izuku doesn't even have the time to change his clothes, he stays in his oversized sweater.

"Kacchan..." Izuku doesn't say anything else, he gasps after realizing the alpha is still wearing his hero suit and has a lot of wounds on his arms. He's bleeding, not that much, but there's blood on his skin anyway.

"Izuku," the pro hero tries to smile, but it's obvious that he's not feeling good at the moment. His inner alpha is way too tense.

"Why didn't you go to the paramedics first?"

"You know why," it's his response, before pulling Izuku into his arms and taking a deep breath as soon as his nose gets buried in those green curls.

The omega is glad he showered after he came back from Todoroki's house, otherwise he'd have still smelled like him.

He knows Bakugo is seeking comfort, he also knows they have agreed to stay as friends and that the pro hero should get help from one of Izuku's coworkers instead. But right now he can't kick him out, he's his friend, he's hurt and Izuku's inner omega is desperate to make sure he feels better.

Once again ignoring everything he's been taught, Izuku pulls Bakugo towards the couch and even growls a little when the alpha tries to stand up again to follow him around.

"I'll bring a first aid kit, you wait here," the omega mumbles, narrowing his eyes a little when the pro hero assures him they're just scratches.

He sits next to him a couple of minutes later and starts cleaning the worst wounds he can find. Bakugo is still tense, but Izuku nuzzles against his cheek every now and then to get him to relax.

"You should let one of my coworkers help you, Kacchan," Izuku mumbles as he starts wrapping a bandage around his upper arm. He tries not to think about how huge his shoulders look. Bakugo has certainly grown a lot since they were kids... "I know you have refused their help."

"I don't want them to touch me," the alpha growls, running his fingers through Izuku's hair gently. "It feels wrong."

For a moment, Izuku feels pleased knowing Bakugo doesn't want another omega, but he quickly pushes those thoughts aside. Only mates think about those things. Izuku doesn't have a mate.

"You need to try," he insists before sitting on Bakugo's lap (ignoring the alpha's gasp) to give him a hug. "This won't last long. You might feel good now, but in a couple of days your alpha will start acting up again, especially after a big fight, so you..."

He forgets what he's trying to say because he feels huge, warm hands on the top of his thighs.

"What if you keep comforting me? Just like you're doing now..." Bakugo says in a whisper before bringing their foreheads together. "I don't think I can let another omega get so close to me..."

"But we're friends..."

"So?"

It's against the rules, he can't let his job and his personal life mix... There could be consequences...

What if they get attached? What if it's one of those fake attachments that ends up in disaster and heartbreak?

"I..."

"Please, Izuku."

The omega knows Bakugo is stubborn, he knows he'll probably get himself in more trouble if Izuku says no, because he won't look for help elsewhere.

"I'll think about it."

There must be a solution, something Izuku can do...

"Izuku... Are you wearing something underneath that?" Bakugo stammers, Izuku has never heard him so nervous before, his blush almost matches the omega's.

"Yes! I am!" Izuku squeaks, jumping off Bakugo's lap, ignoring the alpha's protests or the way his hand reaches out and stops before he can pull him closer again. "It's just... I'm wearing shorts! But the sweater is too big and covers them completely!"

The blond alpha looks up at him, he seems a little bit distracted, almost like he's trying not to look down again.

"Thanks for helping me, Izuku... I probably should leave–"

"No, it's okay. You can sleep on the couch," Izuku assures him. It feels wrong not to offer him his own bed, but he usually makes his nest on that mattress and it'd be confusing for his inner omega to smell an alpha on it.

"Are you sure?" Bakugo tries to look like he doesn't mind, but Izuku can see the alpha wants to stay.

"Yes, of course! That's what friends are for!"

Bakugo grimaces at the word, although the expression turns into something else so quickly, Izuku convinces himself he imagined it.

"Izuku... Can I have one last hug before I go to sleep?"

After biting his bottom lip, the omega nods and before he can say something else, he gets pulled against a broad chest. Bakugo nuzzles against his cheek and hair before taking a deep breath.

Izuku also feels incredibly bad for not letting him borrow some of his oversized clothes, but it'll make things worse for the both of them. Only mates do that.

"Good night, Kacchan."

Perhaps he should've talked about the rumors around the two of them, but Bakugo is clearly exhausted so Izuku decides to leave that conversation for another day.

***

Izuku wakes up to the sweet smell of pancakes and realizes Bakugo took over his kitchen to make breakfast for the both of them.

The omega can tell the alpha is better now, more relaxed, which is probably why he even smiles at Izuku when he notices him in the kitchen.

"I hope you don't mind, nerd," he mumbles, placing a plate full of pancakes in front of him. "I wanted to thank you for helping me last night."

"You didn't have to," Izuku mumbles, begging his omega brain not to associate this with courting rituals. Alphas like to feed their omegas to show them they can provide for them, but since he's friends with Bakugo, this doesn't mean anything beyond that.

"I said I wanted to," the alpha insists, sitting in front of Izuku at the table, watching fondly as the omega takes a couple of bites of his pancakes.

The need for domestic life spreads all over him again; it's been a while since Izuku felt something like that. Aoyama is right, he really wants to have a family.

But he can't, he has a job now... And that's important to him as well, even though he'd prefer to work with Hatsume instead...

Although it seems they don't want him in her agency.

"Are you alright, Izuku?"

Bakugo's worried scent fills Izuku's kitchen as he uses a hand to cup the omega's face.

"Yes, I'm fine."

It seems like Bakugo doesn't believe him, but he doesn't keep pushing him either. When he starts mumbling something about having to write a report about his last mission, the alpha rises from his seat, but looks at Izuku with hesitation, almost like he's pleading...

"I'll see you soon," he whispers in defeat before Izuku rolls his eyes and pulls him into a hug. He makes him lean closer to nuzzle his cheek softly.

"This doesn't mean I'll comfort you every time you come back from work," he says. "I still think you need to go ask one of my coworkers for help..."

"But you promised to think about it."

"And I'll do it," Izuku nods, taking a few steps back from the alpha.

Bakugo looks down at him before taking one of his hands in his. He looks nervous.

"Izuku... Have you ever thought about having a mate?"

The question makes him feel flustered, but it shouldn't... Aoyama has asked him that before, it doesn't mean anything.

"Yes..."

"Do you want to?"

"Yes," he stammers, moving his hand away, ignoring Bakugo's pout. "But I have this job now so I can't..."

"Izuku–"

"You and I are running late so you better go now, Kacchan," the omega mumbles, watching as Bakugo nods and turns around.

"I'll call you, Izuku."

He doesn't allow himself to think about any of that; instead he runs to the shower because he knows he smells like Bakugo.

***

"Tell me about your rich alpha."

Izuku doesn't bother telling him Todoroki is not his alpha because he knows Aoyama is joking.

"He's really kind, it's really easy to take care of him. I thought it'd be difficult to handle a situation like that outside the field, but doing house calls is not bad at all."

There's always something on Aoyama's face, like the other omega has information Izuku doesn't and is just waiting for his friend to find out about it.

He puts a hand under his chin and leans closer to Izuku over the table.

"And what does your beloved and explosive friend think about that?"

"Kacchan doesn't... It doesn't matter what he thinks, this is part of my job."

"So he doesn't know."

Izuku feels nervous. He shouldn't, it's not like he's been hiding that from Bakugo... He hasn't asked about Izuku's work... Sure they're friends, but Izuku doesn't have to tell him everything.

Even if he knew it he's sure it wouldn't bother him...

"Pro hero Shoto is his rival."

"I know, but–"

"Mon ami, do you really want to spend your life as a comfort omega? I mean there's nothing wrong with this, I personally think the society would collapse without us... But is this what your heart wants?"

Izuku doesn't think he's ready for that question.

"I don't have another job at the moment..."

"Why don't you send another job application to Hatsume's agency?"

"I just did that. I told you they said they don't need anymore employees at the moment–"

"They haven't seen your designs..."

"They're not that good."

At that, Aoyama looks personally offended, however, instead of scolding Izuku like he always does, he takes one of his friend's hands.

"You should think about what you really want before making another choice."

***

When Eijiro smells Midoriya's scent coming from a very well rested and happy Bakugo, the first thing that comes to his mind is that his friend finally confessed and now he doesn't need to worry about him anymore. Because he's seen the photos already; Ashido hasn't stopped talking about them, although she's not entirely sure they're actually dating.

But they must be, right? He doesn't know exactly what Midoriya feels, but he's sure his friend is in love with the omega.

"I'm so happy for you, Bakubro!" He can't help but grin, patting the explosive pro hero's shoulder. "You saw Midoriya this morning?"

The initial irritation vanishes from Bakugo's face as he hears Midoriya's name, even for someone who's usually good at pretending he doesn't care, his friend is just too obvious when it comes to the omega.

There's a smug smirk on his lips that only grows as he nods.

"I made him breakfast," the alpha purrs; Eijiro would have loved to take a video of him like that, but he doesn't want to risk his phone getting completely destroyed.

"You mean you slept with him? Good for you, Bakubro!" He chuckles. Ashido is going to die after he tells her.

It's not common to see his friend blush, but nothing is surprising when Midoriya is involved.

"Not like that!" Bakugo huffs, trying to hide the fact that he's getting flustered. "You're just like Pinky!"

"Don't worry, it'll happen eventually, once you two are ready... It's manly to take things slo–"

"Shut up, shitty hair! I'll blast your face off!" Bakugo cuts his off, he doesn't look very dangerous because his face is completely red now. He takes a deep breath, trying to hold back the blush before he mumbles: "Izuku and I are friends... for now."

"What about the amusement park? Everyone thinks you two are dating! Have you seen the pictures?"

The alpha looks away for a moment.

"I have."

"Why haven't you told your fans you're not dating him?"

Bakugo looks down at his heavy boots, refusing to meet his friend's eyes.

"You want them to think you're dating... Bakubro is not manly to lie–"

"I'm not actually lying..."

"But hiding the truth–"

"Why do you smell like my comfort omega?"

Eijiro would say that Todoroki has another quirk besides his fire and ice and that's the ability to make Bakugo explode in seconds just by talking to him.

"Did you hurt him?"

"Todoroki, Bakugo... Why don't we just calm down a bit?" Eijiro looks around, noticing that the other pro heroes are gone. Of course, no one wants to get in the middle of a fight between Shoto and Dynamight.

"I WOULD NEVER HURT IZUKU! AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOUR COMFORT OMEGA?"

"He comforts me quite often, that's why–"

"SHUT UP, HALF AND HALF!"

Things are getting out of hand, Eijiro can actually smell the burning jealousy coming from his friend.

"This is why I don't want you near him, you're too aggressive."

"Todoroki, don't you have to patrol today?"

It's useless, they're both ignoring him completely.

"You can choose someone else to comfort you... You should leave Midoriya alone."

That's it. Eijiro knows there's no turning back from this... Bakugo is about to explode and there's nothing he can do to stop it.

Well... Maybe he can. He steps in the middle of the two, activating his quirk after hearing the first growl coming from Bakugo.

But the blond alpha manages to shove him aside before tackling Todoroki to the ground.

Chapter Text

That day Izuku feels different and he knows it's not because all the things he has to think about, no, his body feels weird... A little bit more warm and heavy.

He's really tired and yet he has to work.

It's okay actually... Perhaps it's something he just needs to shake off during the day. It can't be that difficult.

However, everything seems to go slower somehow. His inner omega yearns to go home and stay in bed even though the sun is still up in the sky.

"You smell really sweet today," one of the alphas he's trying to comfort comments, although it seems it's not something bad, because she keeps pulling him against herself.

Luckily for him, he finds himself in the same place as Aoyama and other omegas that day.

"Your cheeks are pink, mon ami!" He comments before getting closer to him and press one of his hands against his forehead. "You're a little bit warm as well!"

"But I feel..." Izuku hesitates before blurting out the word fine, because he realizes he'd be lying if he said he's alright; he doesn't feel quite good at the moment.

Aoyama leans even closer before burying his own face in the curve of the green haired omega's neck and taking a deep breath.

"Have you taken your suppressants lately?"

Izuku gasps, face turning pale before realizing exactly what's going on with him.

"I'm going into heat," he whispers, worried.

"It's okay, mon ami," his friend starts running his fingers through his hair to calm him down. "It's not too late for suppressants. We'll just get some of the strong ones and then I'll take you home."

Most of the unit in that place knows Izuku, which is why the paramedic who ends up giving him the pills, looks back at him with concern.

"Take them both now," she says, handing him a cup of water. "Then you have to go back home immediately and take a couple of days off."

Aoyama takes care of everything else actually, he explains to his co-workers and their boss the situation and right after Izuku starts experiencing the effects of the medicine, he's already back in his apartment.

"I'll bring you some food later," the blond omega promises, pushing Izuku onto his bed.

However, Izuku refuses to lay down until he finishes his nest.

"There's no need–"

"Nonsense, I'm your friend. I have to check on you."

Knowing his hormones are affecting him, Izuku wipes off the tears sliding from his eyes.

"Thank you," he mumbles, wondering why this heat feels so different from the others. "I have to text Kacchan, because he wanted to see me..."

"Tell him to stay away for a while," Aoyama nods, narrowing his eyes a little bit. "Also... I think you'll have to text your rich alpha too..."

Izuku agrees as he arranges a couple of his own clothes on the matters, however, this time the sight of his nest doesn't comfort him... He's not sure why. He feels cold...

"I'll come back at night."

The omega nods, shivering before curling up on his bed. Only when he realizes that his friend is gone, Izuku allows himself to sob...

He feels lonely; he wants someone to cuddle him, but he tries to ignore the feeling because he knows that's just his heat trying to trick him.

He wants to cuddle with an alpha.

"This is horrible," he mumbles to himself. He hasn't felt like that in a while; his heats weren't that bad before.

He's not sure what's happening to him.

***

"And you call yourselves pro heroes?"

Eijiro watches as both Todoroki and Bakugo flinch at the words like they did every time Aizawa scolded them when they were in highschool. It's been a while since they were all studying in the UA and yet Aizawa seems to have the same effect on them.

Although he's glad his former professor was nearby and used his quirk and "scarf" on them to make them stop. It's true that they weren't actually trying to hurt each other, but they were both angry and their inner alphas were reacting in a bad way.

Eraserhead looks down at them, both tied up on the floor before he takes a deep breath and pinches the bridge of his nose.

"What happened?"

"Tch!"

"I was telling Bakugo to stay away from Midoriya."

Bakugo growls at him again, baring his teeth, although he can't do much because he's still all tied up.

Eijiro is actually glad about that.

Aizawa looks from one to the other, but the curious thing about it is that he doesn't look surprised at all.

"He's a comfort omega."

"I know that," Todoroki says calmly, although a little bit confused.

Bakugo, on the other hand, starts turning slightly pink.

"You cannot fight over a comfort omega because they're not meant to mate."

Eijiro can see the words hurt his friend. Bakugo turns even more red, although he doesn't look away from Aizawa.

"Izuku is my... friend. And half and half has no right to tell me to get away from him!"

"You're too–"

"Bakugo is right," Aizawa cuts Todoroki off, surprising everyone. "You can't tell him what to do in this situation. That's only his and Midoriya's decision."

Todoroki looks like he wants to protest, but he closes his mouth and nods instead.

That's when Aizawa finally lets them both go.

"However, I think you two need to talk about this with Midoriya. As soon as possible."

None of them say anything to that, but Aizawa doesn't pressure them.

"I believe you have to go on patrol today, Todoroki."

"Yes, that's right," and without another word or look in Bakugo's direction, the pro hero gets out of the break room, followed by Aizawa.

Bakugo collapses on the floor, looking suddenly devastated.

"Bakubro–"

"I'm in love with Izuku."

"I know... Although maybe that's something you have to tell him, don't you think?"

"But what if he doesn't..." The explosive hero stops to take out his phone. He looks at something on his screen before he glances back at his friend with concern.

He rises from the ground in the blink of an eye.

"Izuku is in heat..."

"Hey! Where do you think you're going?" Eijiro blocks the entrance, narrowing his eyes at his friend.

"I just want to make sure he's alright... Omegas need food and water during–"

"What did Midoriya tell you?"

Bakugo looks back at Eijiro almost with guilt before blushing to the tip of his ears.

"To stay away."

"Then that's probably what you should do," his friend says. "You know it's risky for you to be near him while he's like this..."

Bakugo runs his fingers through his own hair, looking desperate and miserable.

"I know, I know... I just... I honestly just want to make sure he's okay."

"Then ask one of his friends instead."

The alpha's scent calms a little bit before he nods and rushes out of the room.

"Wait! I didn't mean right now! Didn't you have paperwork to do?"

It's too late, his friend is gone.

***

Yuga certainly doesn't expect to see a pro hero outside the building he works at, waiting for him. But it doesn't surprise him either, especially after getting closer and realizing it's Dynamight.

"Are you Izuku's friend?"

"That I am," the omega nods, trying not to look too amused at the situation. The alpha is really... unique; he doesn't seem very good at social situations, if it was someone else Yuga would be offended at the way he was addressing him.

"Is he alright? Does he have everything he needs? Can you give him this?"

Reluctantly, Yuga instantly forgives him; Bakugo is clearly nervous and worried about Midoriya, which makes him earn a couple of points in Yuga's book.

"He's going to take a couple of days off, not a whole month," the omega chuckles, but he still takes the box with all the food in his arms. "Mon dieu! Is that homemade Katsudon? Midoriya is going to love it!"

Bakugo nods as his cheeks turn slightly pink and that's the exact moment when Yuga decides that he approves of him, no matter how explosive and a little bit rude he seems to be on the outside, it's obvious he cares about and truly loves Midoriya.

"What's your name by the way?"

Yuga rolls his eyes, but he's certainly not irritated at all, he's getting used to Bakugo's personality.

"At last, you remember your manners!" He chuckles, feeling even more amused when Dynamight narrows his eyes at him. "I'm Aoyama Yuga!"

"Bakugo Katsuki... Thank you."

Yuga thinks about turning around and get going, but he remembers that his friend is too stubborn to ask for help himself.

"Would you do Midoriya a favor?"

"Anything."

No hesitation in his voice, good; Yuga definitely likes this alpha for his friend, he knows they'll make a great couple someday.

Quickly, the omega explains what happened when his friend applied for the first time to Hatsume's agency.

"They didn't even bother to ask him for his designs!" Yuga clicks his tongue, still upset. "Do you think you could talk to Hatsume about my friend?"

Bakugo nods.

"Great, just don't be rude."

Dynamight scowls at him for that, but Yuga is used to it at this point so he doesn't even flinch, he's sure the angry pomeranian doesn't actually bite. He wouldn't hurt one of Midoriya's friends at least.

"You can text him, you know... He took strong suppressants so he'll be mostly coherent. Well, I have to go!"

***

"Mon ami, what are you doing in the couch? I thought you always made your nest on the bed?"

Izuku can't stop the blush from spreading down his neck as Aoyama takes a chair to sit in front of him. He has brought him a lot of food, perhaps a little bit too much.

"I wanted to make it here this time," he lies, feeling bad about it immediately; he knows Aoyama would never judge him, but the green haired omega is not ready to admit that the reason he's in the couch this time is because Bakugo slept there the other day and part of his scent is still on it.

He shouldn't be doing this, but being on the bed seemed suddenly too lonely and cold this time; Izuku is not sure what is happening to him.

"Is that Katsudon?"

Aoyama nods, handing him the bowl and a couple of chopsticks. Izuku doesn't hesitate and just starts eating it... It's absolutely delicious.

"Thank you! This is–"

"Your alpha made it for you," Aoyama corrects him immediately. "He actually ambushed me outside work with all this food for you. He's worried about you."

Izuku doesn't even bother to pretend he doesn't know whom Aoyama is talking about. Knowing the hormones are affecting him, Izuku doesn't try to stop his tears.

"I want Kacchan to cuddle me!" He sobs. Aoyama takes the Katsudon away before pulling him into a hug.

"I know, I know," he whispers, trying to calm him down. "But you must know it's risky for him to be here right now... Besides, you're not completely yourself at the moment."

Izuku nods, trying not to think about Bakugo. Part of him is worried this means he's more attached to the alpha than he should.

"I think you two need to have a serious talk once this is over..."

Izuku knows Aoyama is right, but at the same time he doesn't want to do that.

Suddenly, his inner omega starts protesting; the remains of Bakugo's scent are certainly not enough now...

Perhaps he could ask for one of his shirts... Fortunately, Izuku shakes his head and stops himself before saying something stupid out loud or grabbing his phone to text Bakugo.

He's a comfort omega and he knows there are lines that shouldn't be crossed.

"Take my phone," he mumbles as he hands it to Aoyama. "Give it back to me in a couple of days."

"You don't trust yourself," his friend points out, surprised. "You have never given me your phone before..."

"It's better this way."

"Is it because your explosive alpha?"

Izuku looks away from him, even though he knows Aoyama can see the blush on his ears.

"It is!"

"I'm in heat and he's an alpha... I think I have just spent too much time with him and my inner omega is confused."

Aoyama sighs, looking at him like someone stares at a very stubborn kid.

"Right... But I still think you need to talk to him about... whatever this is."

"Maybe later," Izuku mumbles, knowing he probably won't. It'll get better once his heat is over. He's sure of it.

Chapter Text

Eijiro knows his friend is going to snap soon; he can smell it in his scent, he’s desperate to be with Midoriya, he can’t help it.

“He has it really bad, doesn’t he?” Ashido whispers next to his ear, as they walk slowly behind Bakugo; the streets are quiet that day, but they’re on a mission and know chaos is gonna unfold soon.

“Yeah, but our dear omega is in heat at the moment and I don’t think it’s wise for him to go check on him,” Eijiro tells her. “I know he’s worried, but anything can happen…”

Ashido looks at the way the explosive alpha walks, determined, but slow, almost like he’s in pain; he looks quite lost. Then she turns to look at Eijiro again.

“You know what? I think Blasty will be fine; he’s clearly worried and loves the green bean so much…” Ashido looks at the grumpy alpha with a smile, even though he’s so immersed in his own thoughts to realize his friends are talking about him. “He would never touch him like that, at least not now when he’s not sure if Midoriya actually wants this or not. Blasty is a good alpha.”

She’s right, of course she is; Eijiro visibly relaxes next to her, feeling a lot better now. Because he knows Bakugo is going to snap at any moment and probably run to check on the omega.

Just as he thought, Bakugo stops around to look at them both with the most concerned expression they’ve ever seen.

“He’s not answering my texts…”

“It’s okay, Blasty. Maybe he’s asleep… You know omegas need to rest more during their heats…”

Bakugo’s shoulders fall as he nods; Eijiro knows he’s not entirely convinced or feeling better at all, but he’s trying to calm his inner alpha down.

“I need to make sure he’s alright.”

“Why don’t you call his friend again?” Eijiro suggests. Sure, even if Bakugo finds himself outside Midoriya’s door he’s sure he won’t lose focus, but there’s the possibility of the sweet omega getting angry with him for not staying away like he asked him to. Eijiro knows Bakugo would feel bad later if Midoriya got mad at him.

“Alright,” Bakugo mumbles, clearly not satisfied with the answer.

Ashido looks at Eijiro for a moment, before nodding at him and putting one of her hands on the blond alpha’s shoulder.

“Why don’t you go back to the office so you can call him? We can handle this.”

Bakugo is usually very stubborn, he loves to be a pro hero and has always been really professional… He doesn’t leave in the middle of a mission, not even if he’s seriously hurt, so the fact that Eijiro can see the hesitation in his eyes is proof enough that he’s absolutely head over heels in love with Midoriya.

Eijiro tries to hold back a grin.

“Alright,” Bakugo finally mumbles. “Call me if you need me. Thank you.”

“Don’t worry, Blasty,” she says, trying not to look too surprised after hearing their friend thanking them.

“I think Bakubro is going to get married soon…”

“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, Kiri,” she chuckles.

“I’m going to be best man!”

“Kiri, oh my god…” Ashido laughs again, but looks at him fondly. “Well, maybe… If we’re lucky and Blasty doesn’t ruin it. Wait, didn’t you say comfort omegas can’t have mates?”

Yeah, he did. And it’s unfortunately true… But maybe the green haired omega can reconsider… Eijiro is sure they’d be really good for each other.

But things are never that easy.

***

For the third time in a couple of minutes, Izuku turns on the couch, feeling cold and restless. The suppressants are strong enough to keep him mostly coherent and not horny all the time, but the omega still feels like something’s wrong.

The scent Bakugo left on his couch is almost gone and Izuku is suffering because of it, at least his body is… It’s like he can’t feel warm anymore no matter how many blankets he uses to cover himself.

He really wants the alpha to come and cuddle him, but he knows it’s not possible and it’s probably wrong considering they’re just friends.

A couple of tears slide from his eyes and Izuku can’t stop the sob that escapes from his lips as he wishes everything to be over soon.

Hours pass like a torture, they’re slower than usual, but at the same time Izuku is not aware of them; it’s like living in a bad dream… But he cannot get himself to sleep.

So far this is his worst heat yet…

Izuku blinks a couple of times and watches as Aoyama opens the door, snaps at someone to stay outside and rushes towards him after closing the door behind himself.

There’s a hint of a scent that reaches Izuku’s nose and prompts him to sit down in a couple of seconds. Suddenly, Aoyama is leaning in front of him, gently pushing him back down.

“Is Kacchan outside?” He doesn’t recognize his own voice for a moment, he sounds like he’s in pain.

“Yes, the grumpy alpha is outside,” Aoyama sighs. “I only agreed to bring him here because he wouldn’t leave me alone; he wanted to make sure you were alright…”

Izuku sobs, feeling a wave of warm emotions through his body.

There’s a noise coming from outside, like something heavy is leaning against the door.

The omega can’t hold back a needy whine, Aoyama covers his mouth quickly though, rolling his eyes as he does.

“I knew this was a bad idea…” He whispers before turning his head towards the entrance and yelling: “You promised me you’d behave, grumpy boy!”

The silence is his only response; Aoyama sighs, before looking back at his friend.

“You haven’t slept at all, have you, mon ami?”

Izuku shakes his head, feeling really tired. Aoyama finally moves his hand away, but strokes the shadows under the omega’s eyes a couple of times.

“Listen… You can talk to him… But don’t open the door, okay? Maybe listening to him will help you feel better…”

He doesn’t hesitate, he rushes towards the entrance and sits on the floor, ear pressing against the wooden door.

“Kacchan?”

“Are you alright, Izuku? Do you need anything? Have you eaten enough?”

A relieved smile curls up the corners of Izuku’s mouth. His alpha is here, he worries about him… His alpha wants to make sure he’s

Blushing to the tip of his ears, Izuku stops his train of thought suddenly, scolding himself for letting his inner omega take control of his mind for a moment. Bakugo is his friend, just like Aoyama, of course he’s worried about him…

“I’m fine, I have everything I need,” he forces himself to say, even though he still wants Bakugo to come inside and cuddle him. But Aoyama is right, that’d only make things more complicated.

“Are you sure?” The alpha insists. “You don’t sound good…”

The genuine concern is what makes Izuku lose control for a moment, just for a couple of seconds, but that’s enough for him to blurt something stupid out.

“Would you let me borrow a piece of your clothing? Are you wearing a hoodie? Or maybe your t-shirt…”

“Midoriya!” He doesn’t blame Aoyama for scolding him, he knows it’s wrong because Bakugo is not his alpha.

“I’m sorry–”

“It’s okay. You can have my h-hoodie.” His voice sounds different for a moment, deeper and a little bit shaky… His scent has grown stronger somehow…

“I’m basically babysitting two idiots…” Aoyama huffs, but he still runs his fingers through Izuku’s curls softly before gently pushing him out of the way. “Stay here, I’ll go get the hoodie.”

Izuku can hear Aoyama arguing with Bakugo at the other side, before the blond omega is back inside.

He hands Izuku a black hoodie that smells absolutely delicious. The omega doesn’t hesitate to put it on and purrs in delight when he realizes that Bakugo’s scent is all over him… It’s like the alpha is giving him a hug.

Izuku feels so much better now.

“Thank you, Kacchan.”

“You’re welcome, Izuku. Just… don’t wash it once you’re done with it…”

“What? But…” The omega stops before he actually says it; it’ll still smell like him, especially because he plans to wear it until his heat is over.

“Please, Izuku.”

“O-Okay.”

He talks to Bakugo for a while through the door, it’s not the same than having the alpha in front of him, but it’s okay for now. Besides, Izuku no longer feels cold anymore… He’s warm and completely relaxed. He feels so good he doesn’t realize his eyes are closing on their own until Aoyama carries him back to his nest.

“Tell Kacchan I really appreciate this…”

“Sure, mon ami… Now go back to sleep.”

***

The grumpy alpha certainly doesn’t know how to hide his feelings at all; Yuga can’t believe Midoriya hasn’t realized what’s going on yet.

Bakugo looks at Midoriya’s apartment door with something that looks a lot like longing and Yuga has to stop himself from rolling his eyes. Sure, it’s cute, but that doesn’t mean he’ll let the alpha stay.

“He’s asleep now. He has everything he needs,” he assures the pro hero.

Bakugo nods, even though the worry doesn’t vanish from his eyes.

“Come on, we have to go and you know it.” After noticing the concern in his scent, he adds: “No one can get inside. Besides, his neighbors are all omegas and betas and they’re very fond of him; they won’t let anyone with bad intentions roam around the building.”

The alpha nods before following Yuga, even though he is not happy at all.

“He’s wearing my hoodie,” Bakugo mumbles after a while, it’s just a whisper… And, for a moment, Yuga thinks he’s only talking to himself, until he looks at him. “Do you think this means he…”

He doesn’t finish, but the hopeful glimmer in his red eyes says a lot.

“You have to talk to Midoriya about this… Once his heat is over,” Yuga finds himself saying. He could’ve given him an answer, but he knows those two need to have a serious conversation as soon as possible.

Bakugo nods again, although this time he looks and smells absolutely pleased with himself.

He’s a good alpha and is more than obvious that he adores Midoriya… But that green haired omega can be really stubborn sometimes and stupid because he usually lets himself believe he doesn’t deserve to have good things.

And that’s when things get a lot complicated.

Chapter Text

When Izuku opens his eyes again, he realizes he's smiling... He feels well rested too, surrounded by Baku–Katsuki's scent. The hoodie is also very comfortable and soft; Izuku is constantly rubbing his cheek against one of the sleeves.

With the grin still on his face he rises from his nest to drink some water and make himself breakfast. A giggle escapes from his lips as he remembers the morning Katsuki made breakfast for him.

He shouldn't be thinking about that, he's not sure why at the moment (his inner omega just wants his alpha there) but he's sure it's important.

The omega happily chooses something from the basket Aoyama said Katsuki prepared for him. His alpha is very considerate... He thought about Izuku and wanted to make sure he had enough food during his heat.

An involuntary whine is what it takes for Izuku to realize that he wants Katsuki to be there with him. His inner omega is taking control, which is always a bad thing.

He shakes his head, forcing himself to think about anything that's not his pro hero. Izuku knows the right thing to do would be to take the hoodie off and hide it somewhere so he can't smell it anymore, but the alternative is feeling cold, lonely and restless again so he refuses to do that.

Purring, he rubs his nose against one of the sleeves again, closing his eyes, telling himself that it's okay because Katsuki is his friend. Despite being really good at controlling his inner omega, Izuku purposely ignores the rational part of him that tells him he's making a mistake.

It's alright, his heat won't last much longer anyway (thanks to the strong suppressants). Besides, Izuku is sure everything will be back to normal after that.

There's nothing to worry about.

***

The next time he sees Aoyama he's himself again. He's a little bit embarrassed, especially when his friend returns him the phone and tells him to call Todoroki because he's been trying to communicate with him.

Izuku is wearing his own clothes now; the nest is gone and his house is the same as it was before his heat. He blushes to the tip of his ears as he folds Katsuki's hoodie and considers washing it even though the alpha asked him not to.

He shouldn't have asked for his hoodie in the first place. He shakes his head and takes his phone instead to answer Todoroki's multiple texts and asks him to meet him outside of work; he really seems worried about Izuku.

They meet outside the building before it's time for Izuku to log in the system. He takes a deep breath and thinks about what he's going to say to the pro hero.

"Listen... I know you're angry because I fought Bakugo inside the agency, but I... It's not going to happen again. I just wanted to protect you."

Todoroki is looking at the ground, embarrassed, so he can't see the confusion and the alarm all over the omega's face.

"I didn't... know. Can you tell me what happened?"

Looking like he's regretting it already, Todoroki nods before telling him he told Katsuki something about hurting Izuku before the other alpha tackled him to the ground.

He told him about how Aizawa managed to make them both stop.

So... They both could've lost their jobs because of him. All because of Izuku.

"I think... I think you should ask one of my coworkers to comfort you from now on, pro hero Shoto," Izuku mumbles, internally scolding himself for not following the rules better. This is obviously his fault.

"No, wait... Midoriya–"

"I won't change my mind. I'm really sorry, pro hero Shoto. Now if you excuse me, I have to go to work."

Aoyama notices something's wrong right away, but Izuku doesn't think he's ready to talk about it at the moment. He tries to focus on his job, but he feels like he's not giving his best.

He's just thinking about what he's going to tell Katsuki.

Izuku has made a lot of mistakes. Now that he thinks of it, he surely crossed the line of their friendship a couple of times.

He needs to see him as soon as possible. After giving one last hug to the pro hero in front of him and taking her to the paramedics, Izuku takes his phone and sends a text to Katsuki.

He's going to see him that night.

"Mon ami, I know that face," Aoyama sits next to him in the break room before taking Izuku's hand. "You're about to do something stupid."

"Maybe this is the smartest decision–"

"Izuku, don't try to sabotage yourself just because you're afraid of happiness," Aoyama mumbles suddenly surprising and confusing him at the same time. "You do deserve nice things, you know..."

Blushing, the green haired omega moves away, feeling irritated and almost scared of what Aoyama is saying... He obviously doesn't know what he's talking about.

"This is not about that!" Izuku says defensively, feeling like he needs to justify himself even though his friend doesn't know what's actually going on. "I made a mistake! And I need to fix it!"

"Following your heart is not a mistake..."

Izuku shakes his head, rising from his seat. However, he tries to calm himself down.

"I'm sorry... I have to go."

***

He's pacing inside his apartment, looking at the hoodie on the couch and seriously thinking about cleaning it up... His inner omega protests every single time, although that's probably proof enough to know that's another mistake.

However, the knock at the door tells him it's probably too late now.

Katsuki's smile is almost blinding as soon as he sees him, it makes Izuku's heart beat faster. The omega doesn't smile back though, instead, he hands him the hoodie back.

"Thank you... I... It helped a lot," the omega stammers.

When the alpha nods and puts it on immediately, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath to smell Izuku's scent on it, his inner omega purrs in delight.

Which is another mistake. No wonder Katsuki's alpha is confused... Izuku took advantage of his friendship and ruined it.

"I know you fought Todoroki... because of me," Izuku mumbles, blushing to the tips of his ears.

"Listen, Izuku–"

"I'm sorry, Kacchan."

"Huh, what are you sorry for? I'm the one who almost got suspended because I couldn't control myself and–"

"Exactly," Izuku nods, noticing how Katsuki starts getting irritated and puzzled at the same time. "Your inner alpha is... confused. I'm sorry about that. I shouldn't have been so... careless around you. And I obviously made it worse by asking for your hoodie. I think we should... take a break from... each other."

There are a lot of emotions written all over Katsuki's face, but Izuku only recognizes pain and a little bit of anger.

"It's... okay if you don't want to be my friend anymore, if you don't even want to see me again..."

"I didn't say that, I just think that some time apart will help your alpha–"

"As I said," Katsuki cuts him off, closing both his hands into fits and trying to stop himself from shaking. For a moment Izuku thinks he's furious, but then he notices the single tear rolling down his cheek. "It's fine if you don't want to see me. But don't you dare tell me that what I feel, what I want is not real. I'm not confused and I'm not letting my instincts speak for me. That has never been the case when it comes to you."

"But, Kacchan..."

When Katsuki looks up at him, the anger and irritation are completely gone, there's just so much pain in his eyes, which is even worse.

"This is real, Izuku. I want to be your friend, but I also want something more... And nothing is going to change that," he mumbles, voice shaking a little. "If you feel like you're confused or you don't know what you want, that's okay too."

"No, Kacchan... This is not about me..."

"It is," the alpha insists, making Izuku gasp. "Because I'm sure about my feelings. And you're not."

A couple of tears escape from Izuku's face then. Katsuki takes a couple of steps closer, but he stops before actually touching Izuku and it hurts the omega like a deep cut. But maybe that's for the best because he only hurts the people around him and causes them trouble.

"I still want to be with you... So when you are ready, if you realize you want the same... You know where to find me."

"The s-same?" Izuku stammers, feeling embarrassed by the sound of his own voice.

Katsuki chuckles then, even though he's still hurt and in pain. His expression turns really soft and the fond smile on his face is enough for Izuku to finally see what's going on even before the alpha says it.

"I'm in love with you, you oblivious nerd!" He blurts out, a little bit frustrated before he smiles softly again. "Goodbye, Izuku."

As soon as the door closes, Izuku curls up on his couch and starts sobbing.

Chapter Text

It hurts. He misses Katsuki and it hurts.

But Izuku has caused him too much problems already so maybe that's for the best. He doesn't even want to think about what the blond alpha told him because it makes his heart beat faster and his inner omega purr.

Love. Katsuki said he's in love with him... Is... How does he feel about that?

Izuku shakes his head, realizing he's feeling cold. He misses Katsuki's hoodie, but he misses him the most and it's not even been a week since he said goodbye to him.

The omega goes to work as usual, Aoyama tries to get him to talk about what's making him feel sad, but Izuku is not ready to say it out loud.

It must've been enough time for Katsuki to reconsider, to realize that it's not actually love what he feels for Izuku.

But he sounded so sincere...

***

The next day he gets an email while he's the break room with Aoyama.

"Hatsume wants to see me!" He can't help but blurt out excitedly. "Tomorrow! I have to get ready... I'm going to ask for a day off... And my designs–"

"Take a deep breath first, mon ami," Aoyama chuckles, placing a gentle but firm hand on the other omega's shoulder. "It'll be okay."

"How do you know? This is probably the only chance I'll have to get the job and I don't want to screw it up!"

"You won't."

"How are you so sure?" Izuku asks again, trying not to panic. He has the sudden urge to call Katsuki and tell him about it, but that won't be fair. The alpha told him to look for him when he was sure about his feelings... But what if he doesn't want to see him now?

The omega shakes his head. Now it's not the time to think about that.

"Because your designs are THAT good. She'd be an idiot not to hire you on the spot."

"You only said that because you're–"

"No," Aoyama cuts him off, staring at him in the eyes; there's no doubt in his expression. "I'm saying it because you're freaking great. You'll get the job."

Izuku feels his lips curl up into a smile, before he leans to pull the other omega into his arms.

"Thanks, you're a great friend."

"I know."

Then, he starts to notice that his heart doesn't exactly behave the same way when he's with Aoyama than when he's with Katsuki.

He feels the blush spread from his cheeks to his neck, but he tries to ignore it.

"Thinking about your explosive alpha, huh?"

Probably giving Aoyama the response he needs, Izuku's face turns even more red at that.

"You should talk to him, mon ami."

"I don't think he wants to see me at the moment... I told him... He wasn't that happy about certain things I told him."

"Then apologize. Tell him how you truly feel."

How does he truly feel? He doesn't want to ruin everything again.

"I want to see him, but what if he doesn't want to talk to me anymore?" Izuku doesn't want to cry again, but it hurts whenever he remembers the last time he saw Katsuki.

"I don't think that's the case."

"You can't be su–"

"He asks me about you every single day," the other omega cuts him off, sighing. "He wants to know how you're doing, if you're safe, if you're happy... Honestly, that alpha is ridiculous... But you are ridiculous too, mon ami."

Izuku's heart starts beating happily inside his chest. He wants to ask his friend for details, but he knows he shouldn't.

It's not fair.

He needs to try again.

"I'm going to talk to him after my interview," he mumbles, even though he's really nervous about it.

"That's the spirit! Good luck, mon ami!"

Izuku is not sure if Aoyama is wishing him luck for the job interview or his conversation with Katsuki...

Probably both.

***

He decides to print some of his work, but most of it is on his tablet so he also takes it with him.

The beta at the front desk is very nice to him and is constantly offering him snacks and water while Izuku waits.

"Good luck!" She says, grinning at him. "I really hope you stay with us so I can see you everyday."

"Thanks," the omega smiles back. People here seem to be really friendly, it helps him feel a little bit more relaxed.

"Stop flirting with him, Kana," a young man with an iPad walks into reception and rolls his eyes at the receptionist before telling Izuku to follow him.

"Don't worry about the smoke," the alpha tells him, making a dismissive gesture when Izuku notices the smoke coming from the end of the hallway.

By the time they walk in the smoke is gone, but Hatsume is still hunching over a large piece of broken gear that looks like–

"Is that for pro hero Ingenium's suit?" Izuku asks excitedly because he can't stop himself.

"You do know your stuff!" Hatsume says, nodding approvingly before taking her goggles off and staring at the green haired omega. "Great! Grab a couple of tools and help me with this!"

"But–"

"Come on, don't be shy!"

Leaving his stuff on a desk, Izuku approaches Hatsume, feeling nervous already. To calm himself down (and ignoring the part of himself that's scolding him for it) he thinks about Katsuki.

This is not the time to feel insecure about his own abilities. This is what he really wants to do for a living after all.

It turns out to be easier than he thought, mostly because Hatsume is there next to him, telling him everything about the type of modifications she's working on.

However, she's very interested when Izuku makes suggestions, especially when it comes to help increase the pro hero's speed.

The omega ends up looking like a mess; his shirt is covered in grease and he's pretty sure he has dirt on his cheeks but it's okay, he's excited about getting the opportunity to work on a hero suit.

"Nice," Hatsume says approvingly, looking down at the gear. "I think it's done now. I'll probably work on the other one tomorrow. Thanks for the help..."

"Midoriya Izuku," the omega mumbles nervously, making her grin.

"Hatsume Mei, it's a pleasure! Now let's grab a chair so you can show me your designs."

Shyly, Izuku hands her the couple he printed and after giving them a glance, she grins from ear to ear.

"These are great. Show me more."

So Hatsume ends up with Izuku's tablet on her lap, happily scrolling through his gallery and making a few comments about each of them. She interprets the omega's drawings with an accuracy that has Izuku really impressed.

"Oh. This is for Dynamight's suit, right?"

Izuku nods as his cheeks turn slightly pink. He's really proud of that design, but for some reason seems a little bit personal to him (even though it shouldn't be) so he decided not to print it.

"He'll love it," Hatsume says, looking really sure about it. "No wonder he said all those things about you."

"What? What did he say?" Izuku asks, curious and nervous at the same time.

"He told me a lot of things about you, but basically... He was the one who let me know you were interested in this job (I didn't know you had applied before, my receptionist and assistant are the ones in charge of the job applications) and he also said that I'd be an idiot not to hire you–"

"Oh my God!" Izuku blurts out, covering his face with both hands, blushing bright red. He really loves Katsuki but he can be really rude to people sometimes...

Wait... He really loves Katsuki? Where did that thought come from?

"Relax," Hatsume chuckles. "It's not the first time I've dealt with him. I don't mind... Well, after that he proceeded to tell me in detail why you were perfect for this job and he was right."

"Wait... Does that mean..."

"You can start tomorrow."

Izuku's lips quirk up into a huge grin, his heart is beating excitedly inside his chest and a tiny part of him thinks that this could be just a dream.

"Thank you!"

He can't wait to tell Katsuki... Although, it'd probably be better to talk to him about other things first...

He just hopes the alpha still wants to see him after everything that happened.

***

The omega readjusts his backpack as soon as he's outside the building. With a soft smile on his face he heads back to his apartment, but then he hears a couple of people screaming nearby.

When he turns around he notices that a few of them have started running and looking at the sky.

Izuku doesn't actually have the time to do anything because someone grabs him by the waist and lifts him up.

"I'm really sorry, pretty omega," the woman who's carrying him in her arms smirks. She has two pairs of wings that look like they're made of metal. "But I need a distraction so that stupid pro hero stops following me."

They're getting really high up on the sky and it's really too late now to try to fight her. That would only get him killed.

"Here he comes," she laughs in a way that makes Izuku shiver. "Make sure to scream really loud, omega."

She's going to drop him.

"What? Wait..."

"Izuku?" Katsuki is already approaching them, using his quirk to catch up with her. The determination on his face turns into panic when he recognizes him.

"He knows you? Lucky me..." She grins, before letting go of Izuku.

He's too scared to actually hear the way Katsuki screams his name.

And he falls...

Chapter Text

He closes his eyes; he knows he’s about to die but doesn’t want to think about it. There are a lot of things he regrets… Izuku can’t believe he never had the chance to speak to Katsuki again.

There are a couple of loud explosions in the sky and the next thing he knows is that something breaks his fall, he opens his eyes as soon as he realizes he’s in somebody’s arms.

His alpha’s arms.

“Kacchan?”

The blond smiles at him, relieved.

“Hi, baby,” Katsuki blurts out and Izuku would’ve blushed to the tip of his ears at that pet name if it wasn’t because they’re still falling. “Listen, I need you to put your arms and legs around me because I need both hands to keep going.”

The omega doesn’t hesitate, despite the fear and the shock, he immediately wraps himself around Katsuki so the alpha can keep using his quirk to keep them both on the sky.

“I can leave you on the ground or–”

“Let’s go after her,” Izuku says immediately, earning a huge grin from the alpha.

“That’s my omega,” he says before giving Izuku a kiss on the top of his head.

It’s amazing how much speed Katsuki can acquire by using his quirk. Izuku has to close his eyes though, because no matter how exciting that is, he’s not used to it and he doesn’t want to get dizzy in the alpha’s arms.

He hears the villain cursing right after an explosion and supposes that Katsuki hit right on the mark.

When the omega turns his head a little bit around he notices that the woman with the wings is falling, however, Uravity appears then, followed by Froppy.

“Take care of it!” Katsuki yells and then adds: “Please, I need to take Izuku to safety.”

“Of course!” Uravity agrees before touching the screaming villain right on time. Froppy captures her by wrapping her completely with her tongue.

Feeling safe now, the omega watches with curiosity and fascination as Katsuki uses his quirk to control the way they’re falling; it seems he’s done that a couple of times judging by the way they end up landing. It’s a smooth transition from the sky to the ground.

A little bit sad, Izuku starts letting go of him to stand on his own, but before his feet touch the ground, the alpha scoops him up.

He’s princess carrying him now.

“I thought I was going to lose you,” Katsuki admits in a painful whisper before he starts nuzzling the omega’s cheek.

The omega is a little bit overwhelmed by the sincerity in his voice. He doesn’t want to cry so he just nuzzles him right back, trying to comfort him. At least Izuku knows he’s good at that.

“I missed you, Kacchan,” he blurts out. “I missed you so much.”

“Me too, baby,” the alpha mumbles right against his cheek before giving him a soft kiss.

The endearment is going to kill the omega for sure, but he likes it… Perhaps a little bit too much.

“Is he injured?” A paramedic approaches them and after a couple of seconds, she recognizes the omega. “Midoriya! Come, let me check on you–”

A possessive growl escapes from Katsuki’s lips, he’s baring his teeth at the paramedic, moving Izuku as far away from her as possible. For a moment he looks at her like she’s going to hurt the omega.

“It’s okay, she’s just doing her job, Kacchan,” Izuku assures him, before pressing his lips against Katsuki’s chin, it feels so natural and right he can’t help it. Then he looks at her and adds: “I’m fine. I’ll stay with him.”

She nods, although she rolls her eyes at the alpha before leaving.

“I wanted to talk to you, Kacchan… I was planning to call you before this–”

The alpha’s starts kissing him all over the face, until Izuku starts giggling.

“Wait, let me speak!” He says before chuckling again as lips keep pressing against his cheek.

However, when Katsuki stops and looks down at Izuku, the smile on his face is gone.

“Do you want to leave me? I’m really sorry, Izuku… I didn’t mean to say all those things then… I was hurt because you thought I was being controlled by my instincts… But the truth is that I love you.”

“I don’t want to leave you!” Izuku says, almost desperate. “I was going to tell you that no matter what, I always want to be by your side!”

“So…” The alpha whispers against his cheek, before giving him another kiss. “Does this mean you’ll give me a chance? Can I take you on a date… or maybe a couple?”

“I’d love to, Kacchan,” Izuku smiles from ear to ear. His inner omega is purring with delight.

“I’ll make you happy, Izuku. Or at least I’ll try to.”

The omega opens his mouth to say something, but gets cut off by desperate lips against his; he immediately kisses back, closing his eyes and enjoying every second of it.

He still has a lot of things to do but they can wait, for now.

***

Katsuki even takes the rest of the day off to stay with Izuku, something the omega finds absolutely charming. They go to Izuku’s office, where all the omegas usually wait for a call, so he can quit.

He finds his friend Aoyama there and he quickly updates him on everything that happened while Katsuki waits for him outside.

“I’ve never seen you so happy before, mon ami…” The other omega grins from ear to ear. “And you… Oh, what’s that? You smell like your explosive alpha already!”

Izuku blushes to the tip of his ears, but the smile doesn’t vanish from his face. Katsuki insisted on scenting him after the encounter with the villain because he said it’d make him feel better.

And the green haired omega was more than happy to oblige.

“I’m really happy for you,” Aoyama says, pulling him into a hug as the other omegas around look at him with curiosity. “However, I think you also have to talk to the rich alpha, he’s been asking about you.”

Todoroki. Yeah, Izuku has thought about talking to him again.

“I will and I’ll call you later too.”

Once he’s done with all that, Izuku steps outside only to find Katsuki with two coffees; he hands one to the omega and offers his hand for Izuku to hold.

They walk side by side for a while, fingers intertwined; they’re smiling so much the people around can’t help but stare at them.

“If… I mean I can go now if you want–”

Izuku pulls his flustered alpha inside his apartment and pushes him on the couch so they can cuddle.

Katsuki can’t help but chuckle.

“You’re stronger than you look, little nerd.”

“Less talk, more cuddles, Kacchan,” the omega demands, prompting the pro hero to look down at him with amusement before wrapping his arms around Izuku’s middle.

Katsuki purrs, it seems he was just as desperate to feel Izuku close again.

“I missed you so fucking much, baby,” the alpha admits before kissing Izuku’s forehead a couple of times.

In response, the omega nuzzles against the alpha’s chest.

“Missed you too.”

“Are you free tomorrow night?”

Yet again, Izuku’s cheeks turn slightly pink, but he nods.

“Great, because I’m going to take you on a date.”

“Sounds like a very good plan.”

***

On his first official day at work, Izuku sees Todoroki again.

“What are you doing here, Midoriya?”

“I work here now.”

“Oh,” it seems Todoroki is trying to process what that simple response means and when he does, he looks a little bit sad. “Can I talk to you?”

“Sure…”

As soon as they step outside, Todoroki takes one of Izuku’s hands in his. Surprisingly, the first thing he wants to talk about is the incident with the villain.

“I’m glad you’re okay,” he mumbles, looking a little bit flustered out of the sudden. “And I’m glad Bakugo was there to save you.”

“I’m glad too.”

“It seems… I was wrong about him,” he continues, making an effort to actually say the words, which Izuku appreciates. “So… You’re not a comfort omega anymore, huh?”

“I’m not,” he responds, trying not to smile because there’s still an alpha he still comforts: his alpha.

Izuku knows it’s probably not okay to think about Katsuki as his, but he can’t help it.

“You’re not even going to consider making house calls again?” Todoroki insists.

“I’m sorry, I’m dating someone now.”

“I see…” By the look on his face it seems like Todoroki already knows who it is. “Well… I wish you the best, Midoriya.”

“Me too!”

“Can we be friends at least?”

“Of course, Todoroki!” Izuku assures him, giving him a hug before they both get back inside the building. The omega starts showing him a couple of designs for his hero suit.

***

Katsuki stays as the number one pro hero for weeks; his fans have noticed that he’s very happy now and have seen the amazing new additions to his hero suit.

They’ve seen him with a beautiful green haired omega and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what’s going on. Pro hero Dynamight is anything but subtle and he looks at the omega like he’s everything to him.

Izuku worries at first about what they say on Twitter about them; he wonders if they should keep their relationship a secret (at least for a while) but Katsuki has never bothered to deny anything.

“I want them to know you’re taken,” the alpha whispers against Izuku’s cheek, making him giggle and shiver at the same time.

It seems his alpha is a little bit possessive, but Izuku is more than okay with it.

The omega’s closet is now full of Katsuki’s hoodies and t-shirts that he usually wears when his alpha stays the night or when he goes to the pro hero’s apartment.

Aoyama teases him about his relationship with Katsuki, especially after they have their first sleepover since Izuku started dating the pro hero and his friend gets a glimpse of the omega’s thighs and chest.

“Is his plan to eat you alive?” He laughs as soon as he notices all the hickeys and bite marks all over Izuku’s body.

“Don’t!” The green haired omega whines, absolutely embarrassed before covering his face with both hands.

“I bet his back is full of scratches…” Aoyama chuckles, dodging the pillow Izuku throws at him easily. “You know that’s like a confirmation coming from you, right?”

“Please, stop!”

“Relax! I’m just really happy for you, mon ami.”

Somehow, Katsuki’s friends are even worse, especially pro hero Pinky who’s constantly begging Izuku to call her Mina. Maybe he will someday, for now she’s Ashido to him.

It’s weird to hang out with so many pro heroes outside work, but Izuku really likes them all.

They also hang out with Todoroki, Uraraka and Asui now, especially Izuku, because those three have become good friends of his.

Although Katsuki is still not that happy when he sees Todoroki, they both at least tolerate each other for Izuku’s sake.

He’s sure they’ll learn to be good friends someday.

Katsuki proposes a few days later and Izuku can’t help but sob happily in response. They haven’t been dating that long, but there’s no doubt in his mind that this is the right thing to do.

Izuku is ready.

“You know that I love you already… And I know there’s no one else for me, I just… It’s okay if you want to wait longer, if you’re not sure about taking the next step already…”

“I want to marry you, Kacchan, as soon as possible.”

Katsuki can’t wait anymore; he gives Izuku his mating bite that night, even before they tell his friends and family that they’re officially engaged now.

Izuku is a little bit nervous about the future, but part of him knows it’ll be okay because they’re together now.

Thank you so much for following this fic until the end! <3

The last chapter is the epilogue!

Chapter Text

Izuku wakes up with a smile on his face even though he knows he's alone in bed; Katsuki has gone to work early that morning and the omega knows he probably didn't want to wake him up.

He keeps smiling anyway, still having the sensation of his alpha's arm around his waist. Katsuki has gotten into the habit of wrapping his arms around Izuku's middle and pulling him closer to his body while he's asleep. The omega doesn't mind it at all, he loves Katsuki, although he also has become a lot more overprotective lately.

Izuku thinks it's because of the beautiful biting mark Katsuki has left on his scent glands or the fact that it's been a month since they got married.

Still, Izuku doesn't mind a protective alpha, as long as he doesn't start to tell him not to go to work or something, which of course Katsuki hasn't and probably never will because he's proven he's a very good alpha.

The omega finally gets off the bed, takes a quick shower and decides to make himself breakfast before going to work. Breakfast for one since Katsuki won't be coming back until later that day.

He makes himself pancakes and eggs... But as soon as his mouth touches one of those he starts feeling dizzy and nauseous. That's when Izuku decides that maybe breakfast is not meant for him that day and drinks a little bit of orange juice before heading to work.

***

After putting on his safety glasses, Izuku grins at the new piece of equipment for Uravity's suit. He knows she's going to love it.

"Bakugo, are you alright? You look a little bit pale." One of his co-workers asks, concerned.

"I'm fine, but thank you for worrying about me," Izuku says, smiling at her, although he's a little bit flustered now. It's been a month and he still gets warm and fuzzy inside whenever someone calls him by his new last name.

"You also smell more sweet than usual this morning," Hatsume points out, without taking her eyes from Red Riot's suit.

"What?" Izuku blinks in confusion, he hasn't noticed, even though he's a very intuitive omega. "I'm not going into heat, that was a couple of weeks a-ago."

He feels himself blush as he remembers he had to take a few days off (and Katsuki had to do the same) to spent it with his husband.

The omega shakes his head to push those memories away; that's definitely not the time to think about that.

"It's probably nothing to worry about," another of his co-workers says, waving his hand dismissively. "I mean... What if your scent is a little bit more sweet than usual? You still smell good to me."

Izuku nods and decides not to think about that for the rest of the day.

***

By the time he gets off work, Izuku is starving and since Katsuki is not back home yet (they've been texting each other every now and then) he decides to go get some dinner with Aoyama.

"I want the spiciest noodles you have," he finds himself saying to the waiter.

"Your explosive alpha asked you to bring him some?"

"No, this bowl is for me," the omega says, prompting Aoyama to quirk up one of his brows at him. "I know, I know... I mean I usually don't like food that burns my tongue, but today I'm craving spicy food... I don't know why."

"Sure. Just be careful, mon ami," Aoyama nods, although he observes him with curiosity for the rest of the evening. "Why don't you tell me about your day?"

Izuku does and when he finishes telling him, there's something different in Aoyama's eyes.

"So you felt dizzy? Only in the morning?"

"A couple of times during the day, especially around food, but there's nothing to worry about! I mean I'm perfectly fine now."

"You know what? Why don't we keep chatting for a bit in your fancy apartment?"

Izuku buys another bowl for Katsuki and gets into Aoyama's car, however, the blond omega stops at the pharmacy and tells Izuku to wait for him.

"Did you need suppressants?"

"Something like that... I also bought ice cream!"

Izuku can't help it, he gets a little bit distracted by the mention of ice cream.

"Chocolate?"

"Of course, mon ami."

***

Whenever he's back in their apartment, Izuku likes to put on comfortable shorts and one of Katsuki's t-shirts. He sits on the couch while Aoyama finds another two bowls to eat ice cream together.

However, at some point his friend approaches him without ice cream. Izuku feels tempted to pout, but then he notices Aoyama has a funny expression on his face.

"What is it?"

"Listen... I don't want you to get your hopes up, but I think you should take these two to the bathroom."

"What do you–" Izuku doesn't get to finish the question because that's when he sees the two pregnancy tests in his friend's hand. "Really? I mean..."

"I just thought about the things you told me... Especially about you feeling nauseous in the morning. This doesn't mean... Just don't get too excited yet."

Izuku can't help it, his heart is already beating happily and his hands shake a bit when he takes both tests and runs towards the bathroom.

He doesn't come back with an answer yet, because they have to wait a couple of minutes. Instead, Izuku tries to distract himself with a bowl of chocolate ice cream.

It doesn't quite work.

"It's okay if you're not. Don't get all sad because of that, you can keep trying..."

"It's time!" The green haired omega jumps off the couch, almost dropping his bowl in the process. He leaves it on the counter before he rushes towards the bathroom again, right where he left them.

"So?"

Positive. They're both positive.

Sobbing, Izuku runs out to hug his friend.

"I'm going to have a pup!"

"Maybe a couple..." Aoyama smiles back at him. "I can't believe I'm going to be Uncle Aoyama soon!"

Tearing up, Izuku touches his own belly, even though the pregnancy is not noticeable yet.

"Well... It's time for me to go because you have to tell something to your explosive alpha. Call me tomorrow, alright?"

Izuku nods, shaking a little. He feels nervous, even though he knows Katsuki is going to like the news.

***

By the time Katsuki comes back, Izuku has calmed down or that's what he thinks. He heats his alpha's noodles again and puts them in a bowl.

"Kacchan, I brought your favo–"

The alpha ignores the food completely and instead takes Izuku in his arms and buries his face in the curve of his neck.

"I missed you," Katsuki takes a deep breath, right before he starts kissing his cute omega all over the face.

Izuku can't help it, he starts sobbing, which prompts the pro hero to immediately take a step back and look at him with concern.

"What is it, Izuku? Did I hurt you?"

"No, no! Of course not!" The omega assures him, feeling Katsuki's thumbs on his cheeks, trying to wipe off the tears.

"Do I have to kill someone?"

"No," Izuku chuckles then, rubbing his nose against Katsuki's. "These are happy tears."

"But... Izuku..."

The omega cradles Katsuki's face in his hands and the smile on his face becomes wide despite the tears.

"Kacchan... I'm pregnant."

The pro hero freezes, even though there's a lot of emotions and thoughts glimmering in his eyes at once. Izuku bites his bottom lip with worry, a concern that only grows when Katsuki blinks, drops to his knees and puts both arms around Izuku's middle.

"Kacchan!"

"Are you sure?" The alpha has tears in his eyes as well, but he's fighting them, trying to keep it together.

"Yes! We're going to be parents, Kacchan!" Izuku squeaks with delight when he feels kisses on his belly before the pro hero carries him towards the couch and cuddles with him.

"You're the best thing that could've happened to me, Izuku."

That's when Izuku bursts into happy tears again. Katsuki tries to kiss them away even though he's tearing up too.

***

They tell their friends a couple of days later. Although they don't exactly get the opportunity to actually say the words because Ashido guesses right away.

Then Izuku is attacked with hugs; Katsuki growls at Todoroki when the other alpha pulls Izuku into his arms, but calms down when Izuku kisses the blond pro hero on the chin.

It's been a little bit challenging already, Katsuki has become a bit possessive and overprotective and has a hand on Izuku's waist most of the time.

Fortunately, he doesn't let his instincts get the best of him and their friends are more than used to his grumpy behavior already so none of them get mad at it.

"Congratulations!" Uraraka grins, before squeezing Izuku into her arms.

"Careful, round cheeks!"

"I'm fine, Kacchan!"

Of course, Katsuki's friends don't waste the opportunity to tease him about his overreactions when it comes to Izuku and his safety and even though he growls at them, the omega can tell he's having a good time.

He sits Izuku on his lap and keeps one of his big hands on Izuku's belly the whole time as the omega happily tells their friends how he found out he was pregnant.

"Did Blasty cry?"

"NO."

"Yes, he did." Izuku chuckles before giving his grumpy alpha a kiss on the forehead. The pro hero immediately softens. "He's actually very sweet."

Katsuki doesn't even deny it this time.

"You're going to be a great Dad, you know?" Izuku whispers against his ear, giggling when he notices the blush on Katsuki's cheeks.

He can tell his alpha is desperate to meet the pups, because even though they haven't gone to a doctor yet, Izuku is sure now that he's having two pups.
