Work Text:

Bee is floating in a large pool of water, with nothing but stars surrounding her. She then sees Puppycat and tries to reach for him. She extends her arm out of the body of water and almost touches him before everything suddenly turns black. “AHH!” Bee shouts as she suddenly jolts awake. As she does she hits her head and knocks down a nearby vase. “Ugh… another weird dream again…” she says while rubbing her head. “Aww… man, I really liked that vase…” She looks to Puppycat, who has just jolted awake as well. “What happened?”

He asks through a series of strange boops and beeps. “Oh nothing… I have to get a new vase now because I broke it.” She says disappointedly while looking at the shards of the once whole vase on the floor. “Ugh… I guess we gotta get up now.” “It’s already like 9AM or something.” “We!?” Puppycat responds confusedly. “Aw cmon Puppycat, you don’t want to get up?” “No.” “We can watch Pretty Patrick.” Bee says in an attempt to try and bribe Puppycat to get up.

“PRETTY PATRICK!” Puppycat says as he suddenly stands up on the couch. “Yeah that’s more like it! But I have to get a new vase first.” Bee says while getting up from the couch. “B-But Pretty Patrick.” “Yeah well we’ll watch it after.” “You promised!” Puppycat suddenly jolts up and starts running around with Bee chasing after him. “Puppycat we’ll watch it after!” Bee chases after Puppycat until he jumps on her curtains and scratches them up. “Puppycat, no!” She tries to stop him before he scratches them up, but it’s too late. “Shiit… now I’m gonna have to buy new curtains AND a new vase.” Bee falls to the floor, defeated. “I’m sorry Puppycat but I’m finding you a sitter for today!” “A sitter!? No.” Puppycat responds while trying to jump away.

“Oh not this time.” Bee says as she catches Puppycat and drags him outside. “Let go of me.” She places him into his seat on her scooter. She then places a helmet on him and herself and takes off. She thinks about who would take care of Puppycat for her for the meantime, so she can get a new vase and curtains. “Hmm… maybe Cass, aww no she’s usually working around this time.” “Maybe Cardamon, buut he’s a landlord so he’s probably too busy.” “Think Bee, think!” “Oh I know Crispin! He’s good with animals… sort of.”

Bee recalls all of the good times she had with him, the feeling of his lips with hers as they kissed. No, she shouldn’t be thinking of that, after all they broke up 2 years ago. “I wonder if he misses me at all?” This is the question that lingers in her head during the drive there. She eventually arrives to the clearing overlooking the beach, where she thinks Crispin will be. She parks her scooter and gets out. “Where are we?” Puppycat asks noticeably confused. “This is the place your sitter is… I think.” Bee says while taking Puppycat out of his seat of the scooter.

“How reassuring.” Puppycat says sarcastically. Bee makes her way through the clearing and sees a familiar looking clown themed tow truck. She moves towards it and peers through the windows of the truck. “Hmm… it looks like no one’s home.” “Great let’s go home.” Puppycat responds. Bee travels to the back of the truck and starts banging at the doors. “Crispin!” She shouts while banging at the doors. “How is this going to help?” Puppycat says. Suddenly Crispin bursts through the tow truck’s doors holding a wrench. “Who’s there!?” He asks alarmed.

“Oh hey Crispin!” “What!? Bee!?.” “What were you doing here anyways?” Bee responds casually. “Well I was fixing up my beautiful masterpiece of a truck, when I kinda fell asleep.” “I see, I can relate to that, can we Puppycat?” “Yes.” Puppycat responds. “Wait, but more importantly, I can ask you the same thing, what are you doing here and what is that THING?” Crispin says while pointing his wrench at Puppycat. “I’m not a “thing” “Well that’s Puppycat, and he’s kinda the reason I’m here.” “He scratched up my curtains, so I decided I would find a sitter for him, so I can get new ones.” “And you chose me for whatever reason?” Crispin says while turning away from Bee.

“Aww… cmon don’t be like that Crispin, I just need you to watch him for 2 hours.” “I don’t need to be watched.” Puppycat says interjecting. “Well go ask somebody else, I’m busy.” “You’re clearly not.” Puppycat says. “Please, Crispin, I’ll even do something for you.” Bee says, pleading. Crispin turns to look at Bee, he sees the desperate look in her eyes, that look that he can’t say no to.

“Ugh fiine, I’ll watch over him.” “Oh thank you, thank you, thank you, Crispin!” Bee says while hopping up and down slightly. “But, you have to go on a date with me.” Crispin says while pointing at her. “Umm… OK?” Bee says with a confused expression painted across her face. “Here’s Puppycat then.” She says as she hands Puppycat to him. “Ok, I promise I’ll take good care of him!” “Ok, I’ll be back to pick him up in about 2 hours.” Bee waves goodbye to Crispin and Puppycat and leaves on her scooter.

On the way to the store, she thinks about Crispin. “Why did he ask me on a date now, even though we’ve been broken up for 2 years now?” She thinks about this and reminisces about Crispin, while she shops for curtains and a vase. After about an hour and a half of shopping, Bee returns to pickup Puppycat. She bangs on the doors of the tow truck again. “Oh hey Bee, here’s Puppycat back.” “Freedom at last.” Says Puppycat. “Was he easy to take care of?” “Umm… yeah he was like an angel.” Crispin says with scratches across his face and on various objects inside the truck.

“Good!” “Well, see you tomorrow for that date.” “Bee, I was kinda like joking earlier when I said you HAD to go on a date with me, you don’t have to if you don’t want to.” “Oh I’m gonna go on that date, even if it’s the last thing I do!” Bee exclaims while raising her fist in the air. “Haha, yeah…” Crispin nervously laughs while waving Bee goodbye. Bee gets on her scooter and drives home. “Last thing I do?” “Why did I say that!” Bee thinks while driving home. Bee arrives at her house and places her new curtains and vase at their respective places. “Ah, much better.” Bee turns off the lights and gets onto her couch.

She places Puppycat in his place and is about to fall asleep when Puppycat asks “What is your relation to that man?” “Oh, Crispin he’s just like a special kind of friend… I guess…” “Sure.” Puppycat responds. “Goodnight Puppycat.” Bee drifts off to sleep. Bee opens her eyes, she is in a vast field of flowers. She sees Crispin sitting next to her. He says something but she can’t make it out. She leans in to kiss him but suddenly her lips spark and electrocute him and everything goes dark.

Bee jolts awake, and checks the time. “12:25PM.” She reads aloud. “Man I overslept!” She checks a text message from Crispin sent at 11:36. “Hey I booked a reservation at this restaurant for 7:00, be ready by then.” Bee types “Cool thanks!” She gets up and begins her normal daily activities, all while thinking of the date with Crispin later. Later in the day, she starts getting ready for her date, she picks out the fanciest clothes she has. “Ok I’m going out for a while Puppycat, please don’t scratch anything for any reason, ok?” “Fine, have fun.” Puppycat says while watching Pretty Patrick on TV.

Bee leaves and heads to the restaurant that Crispin had booked a reservation for. “Wow this place is crowded.” She says as she parks her scooter, and counts how many cars are currently parked at the building. She opens the door and walks inside and sees Crispin waiting for her. “Hey! Crispin!” She calls out. Crispin blushes slightly seeing her in THAT fancy of a dress. “Glad you made it Bee, I was beginning to think you wouldn’t show up.” “Of course, I would show up, I would do like anything for you.” Bee said while laughing slightly.

“Reservation for Crispin.” He said to the waiter at the front desk. “Right this way.” The woman lead Crispin and Bee to their table in the back. “Here’s your table, and I’ll be right back so you guys can order your drinks.” The woman says as she sets down the silverware and leaves. “So Crispin, what’s been happening recently, you still don’t like your family or…?” “Yeah, same old stuff.” Crispin says as he sighs.

“This is a really fancy place, it’s fancier than all of the other places you took me out.” “Heh, yeah remember that pizza place, they got mad at us for you eating too much of their unlimited breadsticks.” Crispin said while laughing. “Oh, yeah I do remember that.” Bee responded. After a bit of an awkward silence, Bee finally speaks up and says “So… what made you decide to ask me out on a date again, after all this time?”

Dead silence hangs in the air for a while. “Oh… well I-I just thought I would say… sorry.” “Bee’s eyes widened. “It’s just that when you told me about… you, it was so sudden and I just needed some time to process it so I did some shitty things to you.” “Oh great excuse Crispin, did it take so long to process that you avoided me even after we broke up!” “B-Bee…” “All this time I thought you hated me, and when you suddenly asked me out, I was confused, but now I see that you are just playing with my emotions.” Tears start to form at the ends of Bee’s eyes.

“Bee you know that’s not true, I don’t hate you.” “I’ve had enough of this…” Bee gets up and storms off as tears begin to fall from her eyes. She exits the restaurant and runs to the nearby clearing overlooking the ocean. She sits down and begins to cry. “Stupid, I’m so stupid.” Crispin heads through the clearing and walks towards her. “Bee, I'm sorry.” He says while he takes a seat next to her. “Shut up! You don’t know what it’s like to be alone.” “Actually I do.” Tears start to form at Crispin’s eyes as well.

“When all of my family forgot about my birthday, it felt like everyone abandoned me, like no one cared about me.” “And when I later met you and fell in love with you, I finally felt like someone in my life, other than clowns or the circus, cared about me.” “And when you told me you were a-a cyborg robot thing, it felt like even you were going to start changing and leave me.” Crispin started to cry. Bee wiped the tears out of her eyes and hugged Crispin.

“C-Crispin I’m sorry, I didn’t know that was the reason you pushed me away.” Crispin wiped his tears and looked at Bee. Bee and Crispin leaned towards the other and felt their lips touch as they kissed passionately under the night sky. They lean out of the kiss still staring at each other. “Wow, I forgot how good that felt.” Crispin said. “Haha, yeah.” Bee responded. “I love you, Bee and I would love it if you could be my girlfriend again?” Crispin asked while looking to Bee’s almost crystalline eyes reflecting off the moonlight. “Of course, yes!” Bee happily responded. The two laid in the grass for a while.

“I should probably get going now, I have to make sure Puppycat didn’t like tear up anything again.” “Maybe we can have a second date tomorrow..?” “I-I mean it’s up to you, but I promise we’ll actually finish it this time!” Crispin said while laughing. Bee kisses him and says “Of course.”

The two walk out of the clearing and Crispin waves goodbye to Bee as he gets into his clown truck. Bee gets into her scooter and drives home. “I’m baaack Puppycat!” She realizes most of the lights are already off and Puppycat is already fast asleep on the couch. Bee then joins him on the couch and she falls asleep, happier than she’s been in a long time.

Notes:

Hope you enjoyed this! I just binged all of Bee and Puppycat on Netflix and I thought this ship was cute, so I decided to write about it. I hope the fic wasn’t too bad cuz I wrote it super late into the night and I was kinda sleep deprived lol.
