Work Text:
Once in a while, Loki visits Alistair for a drink.
That's a habit they'd gone into ever since they became working adults. Yes, Loki isn't fond of drinking, but he somehow finds them a lot more tolerable (and enjoyable) if Alistair is his drinking buddy.
He can still remember how Alistair only let out a soft chuckle one time he got wasted. Loki had vague memories of that night so when he woke up under the soft covers of Alistair's bed, he internally berates himself for losing control and for not remembering anything that happened the night before.
For all he knows, he might have blabbed about his stupid little crush on his attorney friend.
Correct, Loki likes Alistair. Be surprised, Loki can't believe it either. He didn't even know he was capable of feeling—what do they call that again? Ah!—that butterflies in your stomach. Well, if you feel something moving inside your intestines, you might want to go to a doctor because those might not be butterflies wandering around your body.
So yes, Loki did consider seeing the doctor, because whenever he sees that kind smile plastered on his attorney friend's face, he feels those little fluttering on his stomach and his heart rate speeds up, especially when those pearl white teeth are directed to him.
But alas, Loki's not a fool, nor is he uneducated in the field of love. If he were to boast, he actually predicted that his friend Lorelei would, unfortunately, marry his older brother whose goal is world domination. For 15 years, he held onto his suspicions, and oh what a delight to see it come to fruition.
He can remember cackling and snickering when he teases his brother for being so soft around his friend. It was really fun!
That is not until he realized he had also begun to develop feelings for a certain lawyer.
Loki sighed, right arm covering his eyes as his body sank further into the warmth of Alistair's bed. He tilted his body to the side and his eyes widened when Alistair's sleeping face greeted his eyesight.
As if on cue, Alistair's eyes slowly opened and as natural as breathing, flashed that gentle smile of his.
"Good morning, Loki."
Loki blinked once, then twice.
Two drunk people . . . in one bed.
Did... Did they...?
He didn't even try to be subtle, Loki sat on the bed as he immediately checked if they still have their clothes on. Alistair was surprised by him suddenly lifting the blankets, but nonetheless did the same as Loki.
Oh, he's still wearing the blue shirt and black pants Alistair gifted him on his birthday.
Loki sighed. Because of relief or disappointment? You decide.
"Ayos ka lang ba, Loki?" Alistair asked him worriedly. His pair of blue pajamas makes Loki frown.
"You could've let me borrow one of your pajama's so I don't feel icky and uncomfortable wearing these loose pants in my sleep, you know?" Loki grumbled, a little dizzy from his hangover.
"W-well," Alistair cleared his throat, eyes leaving him for a second before staring straight into his eyes again. "I wouldn't have been able to stop myself if I did."
Loki froze at his words. Alistair just stared at him. "So, something happened last night." he eventually whispered.
Alistair's eyes widened, his mouth gaping a little. "You—you can't remember anything?"
"Tell me, Al.", Loki told him in all seriousness as he ignores his question. "What did I do to you?"
If he did something that Alistair didn't approve of, Loki wouldn't be able to forgive himself.
"Alistair," Loki repeated. "What happened last night?"
Sensing that he's not lying, Alistair's body relaxed. He closed his eyes, a small smile escaping his lips as he opened one eye to look at Loki.
"Something did happen—"
"—what—" Alistair ignored Loki's voice. "—but we didn't do it. Actually, hindi natin tinapos."
Loki froze again.
By "it", is he pertaining to . . .?
"Do you like me, Loki?" Alistair asked him, face serious and eyes hypnotizing as if he's urging him to tell the truth.
Loki's face didn't change from its usual bored look, but deep inside, he was actually panicking.
He definitely confessed last night. Now, he's freaking screwed.
Loki suddenly snickered, an act that Alistair rose an eyebrow to. "What a stupid question, Alistair. We wouldn't be friends for more than a decade if I didn't like you."
I can still lie my way out, Loki thinks.
"You've said it yourself," Alistair pointed out. "We've been friends for more than a decade. I think alam mo kung ano talaga ang gusto kong sabihin."
Loki clicked his tongue. So much for trying to lie his way out.
"Loki," Alistair softly called his name. "Wala ka talagang maalala?"
Loki looked at him, eyebrows furrowed in confusion. He can't understand. Why is Alistair so adamant about last night? His reaction, his expression. It's as if he's begging Loki to remember.
"If that's the case," Alistair moved forward, his face just inches from Loki's own. "Would you like to remember?"
Loki gulped, his heartbeat quickening from their sudden proximity.
"Yes or no, Loki." Alistair didn't let go of his eye. He then whispered. "What would it be?"
Loki stayed silent for a second. Afraid that he might suddenly kiss Alistair with how those orbs seem to entice him, Loki glanced down instead. He's not sure if it's the right move because the moment he lowered his eyes, he immediately caught sight of something red at the base of Alistair's neck.
A hickey.
As if a film starting, Loki started to remember everything that happened last night.
Loki drank his glass straight. He let out a hiccup as he slammed it down the table.
"That's enough, Loki. Lasing ka na."
"'m not," Loki replied, fumbling with his words. "B-baka ikaw ang lasing."
Alistair laughed. His whole face was red because he also had too much to drink.
Loki clicked his tongue. Contrary to their belief, he had built up his alcohol tolerance. So yes, he's drunk, but he's still sober enough to process his surroundings.
"By the way, Al." Loki briefly closed his eyes before opening them again. "Lori and Jamie already settled with their families. So... why don't you?"
Alistair laid his back on the counter, hand holding his glass, mouth curved into a sloppy grin. "Well, why don't you?"
"I already told you," Loki, who sat across him, leaned forward before shakily poking him in the chest. "I'm already married to my work. Besides, no one would want someone as eccentric as me."
"Hmm," Alistair played with the melting ice on his glass. His voice slightly wavered as he spoke his next words. "What if... what if I tell you that I want you, what would you do?"
Loki loudly scoffed as he retracted his hand. He glared at him.
"You know already don't you?"
"Know what?"
"That I like you," Loki drank another shot of alcohol. "You suggested that out of pity, didn't you?"
If Loki were completely sober, he knew Alistair would never do that to him. He's too kind to let sympathy be the reason why he would date someone after all.
"Loki, I—" Alistair looked at him, eye wide. Ears burning at both sides. "—I didn't know! If I had then I would've confessed to you before."
"Lies!" Loki shouted. His ears rang for some reason, and he felt his world spinning when he suddenly sprang up from sitting on Alistair's small bar counter. Thankfully, the taller man managed to stand in time and hold him in the waist before he completely fell.
"Give me that." Without another word, Alistair took the bottle of alcohol in Loki's hands as he gently placed it on the countertop.
Alistair, who suddenly became sober, sighed. "Hindi kita binibiro. I like you, Loki. Romantically." He paused. "I really do."
"If you like me that much," Loki roughly pulled Alistair's polo shirt towards him. He still refuses to believe his words. Alistair's too good and kind to like him back. If this is an elaborate prank (because Alistair also has his cunning side), then he knows his next words would definitely expose him.
Voice laced in threat and challenge, Loki stared into Alistair's drunk eyes and uttered.
"Kiss me."
All the fog in Loki's mind seemingly cleared up when Alistair abruptly pushed him on the bar countertop before he harshly claimed his mouth.
Loki didn't even had the time to process anything. All sense of logic flew out the window with how rough Alistair licked and nipped at his lips. Also, the way those big hands claw behind his back seems as if he's releasing all that pent-up desire that accumulated over the past years.
Loki immediately bit back a moan when the taller man sucked his bottom lip. Alistair's hands went down onto the smaller man's buttocks and the latter gasped when he suddenly got lifted on the bar countertop. Loki instinctively wrapped his legs around Alistair's waist as he desperately pulled him closer to him, his hands fisting on his hair and grappling it for dear life.
"Open your mouth," Alistair breathed when they parted for a second. Loki shut his eyes so hard when he felt Alistair's tongue immediately massage his own.
Loki felt his world spin against its axis. He's getting dizzy with Alistair's tongue, mouth and lips moving and licking against him.
Even so, Loki still have half the mind to pull Alistair away from him, breaking their wet messy kiss. The latter tried to kiss him again as if he is his source of oxygen but before he could do so, Loki latched onto Alistair's neck as he roughly bit it, making sure that it would leave a hickey.
Alistair above him whimpered in both pleasure and pain and his hold on Loki's waist tightened.
"L-loki, w-we should stop."
Alistair unexpectedly told him, although his voice was shaking because Loki kept on kissing and biting that particular place on his neck. He never left that area knowing now that Alistair is sensitive there.
Loki stopped for a moment as his lustful eyes stared straight into Alistair. "You don't seem like you want to stop."
Alistair heaved deep breaths, thankful that Loki gave him space and time to think rationally.
"I don't," Alistair admitted, eyes delirious and glassy from their make-out session. "But I wanna do it when we're both sober."
Loki's eyebrow rose. "Isn't that the same thing? We're still gonna have sex later. Why prolong it?"
With the way Loki's glaring and biting his lower lip in annoyance, Alistair realized that Loki's still drunk.
Smiling softly, he pulled Loki closer to him and he let their foreheads touch.
"Hindi ako umamin ngayong gabi para lang madala kang lasing sa kama," Alistair uttered. "I want to date you. The—if I may borrow your vulgar words—sex can wait."
Loki closed his eyes. He closed the distance between them as Loki snuggled his head on Alistair's neck. "Too cheesy, you're gonna make me puke."
Alistair laughed. "It's okay, nasubukan ko naman nang linisin ang kalat mo noon sa kotse ko."
Loki wanted to retort, but his eyes felt droopy all of a sudden. It doesn't help that Alistair keeps on stroking his back like he's some kind of a fluffy cat.
In a few more minutes, Loki slept peacefully wrapped around Alistair's arms.
"—ki? Loki?"
"What?" Loki scowled.
Alistair tried to suppress his laughter but failed. "You're blushing."
Loki, face beet red, disbelievingly looked at him. "For your information, I just remembered that we almost performed the act of coitus. You think I won't get flustered after that?"
"Pfft, c-coitus?" Alistair giggled again. "Last night, I remember you confidently saying 'We're still gonna have se—"
Loki took the pillow he used as he roughly slammed it onto Alistair's body.
"S-sorry." Alistair caressed his arms, a little hurt by Loki's action. "Titigil na 'ko."
Loki sighed as he sat crossed-legged in the bed, right hand propped on his chin.
Alistair copied his movements. He also tilted his head before flashing Loki that trademark smile of his.
"Loki, would you like to go out with me?"
Loki gave him a bored look. "Going out is too tedious. You know I don't like activities that need me to move around physically."
"I can do the moving for you," Alistair whispered to himself. Unfortunately, Loki still heard him.
"Did you just shot me a dirty joke—"
Alistair loudly faked his cough to stop Loki from talking. Loki's lips slightly twitched upwards, clearly amused at his antics.
"You finally smiled," The sunlight that poured on Alistair's open french windows made Alistair's gaze look more gentle and angelic. He'd be lying if Loki tells him he's not mesmerized.
"Loki, seryoso ako sa'yo." Alistair added when the detective stayed silent. He briefly dipped his head, stroking the back of his exposed neck, then raised it slightly once more to glance at Loki through his bangs. He shyly smiled.
"Date me?"
Loki averted his gaze and bit his lower lip in an attempt to stop himself from smiling wide. This guy definitely knows what he's doing.
"I don't reply to texts. Wala akong load." Loki mumbled.
"I know."
"I don't do outdoor dates."
"We can do whatever you want in your apartment. A well-spent time with you is already a date for me."
"I'm a virgin."
Alistair chuckled. "Virgin din ako, does that satisfy you?"
A momentary silence followed. Loki sighed.
"Fine, suit yourself." He replied as he stood from Alistair's bed.
"Saan ka pupunta?"
"Bathroom," Loki answered as he strode towards Alistair's bathroom door. "This pants is itchy and I smell awful."
"Gusto mo bang tulungan kita?"
Loki stopped walking before he glanced at Alistair over his right shoulder. Along with his ability to observe, Loki's familiarity with him has made him aware whenever the latter is being playful or sincere.
Judging by how Alistair "innocently" smiled at him, it's definitely the former.
"Oh, would you look at that," Loki faked a pained expression. "My hands are suddenly hurting. I don't feel like I'll be able to scrub my back."
Alistair's expression changed. "Loki..."
He smirked. As if sensing Alistair's next action, Loki immediately ran towards the bathroom and slammed the door on Alistair's running figure.
"Hey, that's not fair!" Alistair shouted at him from behind the closed door.
Loki's laughter echoed throughout the four-walled room.
They probably look like silly goofy kids, but Loki can't bring himself to care.
