Chapter Text
Onward you trudged, your feet aching with every step you took. You walked much slower than you did previously, your muscles worn out from running from that one eyed thing. You’ve lost track of how long you’ve been walking, every part of your body numb. You were tired, walking through door after door became repetitive incredibly quickly. You just wanted to go home. You missed your soft bed. Oh how you wished you could just lay down and fall asleep, hoping to wake up back in your bed, as if waking up in this strange hotel full of monsters out for your blood was all a dream. You sighed at the thought, as you approached another door. Door 47.
An involuntary groan leaves your lips as you watch the lights flicker wildly. You scurried to the nearest closet and waited. As soon as you heard the ear piercing scream, you jumped in and waited, covering your ears and closing your eyes as the room shook and the glass lights shattered, leaving the room nearly pitch black. You sighed as it left, and you quietly stepped out before that thing that hides in closets could push you out itself. You reached for your pocket for your lighter, and froze when you couldn’t feel it. You must have dropped it somewhere while the one eyed monster chased you. You cursed silently as you marched along, using the aged walls to guide yourself.
Psst.
You jumped as you heard the shrill voice whisper at you. You looked around frantically for the source, but before you could even process it, you felt a set of teeth bite down on your arm, hard. It tore your skin off as you could only cry out in agony. You shakily raised your hand to cover the wound as well as you possibly could in the moment, but you cringed and the feeling of warm sticky blood and a large open gash in your arm. Figuring you could bandage yourself up once you get into an area with light again, you pushed through the pain to find the door to the next room.
Door 48.
You stumbled as you pushed it open with your body weight. Thankfully, it was fully lit. No light flickering, no eyeball monster, nothing. It was quiet. The only thing that could be heard was your labored breathing and the occasional blood dripping pathetically to the floor. You pulled out the roll of bandages from your pocket. There was not much left on the roll, but you thought it might’ve been just enough to at least steady your bleeding a bit. Shakily, you began to attempt to wrap the bandage around your bloody injury, using your good arm and your teeth. After a few brief moments of struggling, you managed to bandage yourself. It wasn’t the greatest bandaging job, but it was something. You sigh again, mentally preparing yourself before marching to the next door and twisting the doorknob open.
Door 49.
You were hit with a sense of dread as soon as the door creaked open. You stared fearfully at the set of double doors in front of you. Growling could be heard from the other side, and you didn’t think you wanted to go through those doors. You honestly considered turning around and going straight back to the lobby. Maybe this could be your new dreadful home. You ultimately decided not to when you’ve already made it this far. Who knows, maybe this was the last door, the final obstacle in the way of getting home. You sucked in a breath, deciding to take the risk, as much as you didn’t want to. Onwards, you decided, as the doors flung open with a loud slam.
You immediately regretted that decision when you saw what exactly was in there. A tall monster which was practically double your size stomped along what looked like a library towards you, seemingly attracted by the sound. It had no visible eyes, so you quickly assumed it was blind. Its skin was torn and littered with all kinds of cuts and scars, its ribcage and other bones exposed. It had long arms and legs with sharp claws to go along with it. Though its most notable feature to you was its large mouth lined with several razor sharp teeth.
You froze in complete fear as you watched the thing make a sharp turn and dart past you, leaving you there completely stunned. You tried to leave, but you turned to see that the doors had shut and locked themselves entirely. How wonderful, you thought. Perhaps you should just give up now and wait for that thing to kill you. Shaking off those thoughts and swallowing your fear, you meekly snuck to the other side of the library, where a large door appeared to be. You winced at every step you took, feeling as if the noise you made was amplified tenfold. It felt like forever before you were able to reach the second set of double doors on the other side of the library. It was obviously your way of getting out of this place, but there was a small issue.
A comically large lock had the doors sealed tightly shut. You took a closer look and realized you needed a code of some sort. You had no idea how to get said code. Your thoughts were suddenly interrupted at the sound of heavy footsteps quickly approaching your location. Your head whipped around as you saw and you freaked out as you watched the thing make a beeline for you. You turned your head and noticed a closet nearby, so you quickly stumbled as fast as you could and ducked into it. You wanted to wonder how in the hell it knew you were there, as you barely made any noise, but you were too busy fearing for your life as it stood in front of the closet you were in. When you said earlier you would probably just let it kill you, you didn’t actually mean it.
After what felt like forever, you thought it had begun to lose interest. It began stomping away, and you let out a sigh of relief. You stepped out of the closet, though you realized a bit too late that maybe you got out a bit too soon. It turned around and quickly darted towards you again. In a state of panic, you stupidly ran away from the closet. It followed you, and it eventually caught up to you and pinned you against a bookshelf. Your face paled as you froze in fear, tears pricking your eyes. This was it, you thought, this is where you die, it's the end. It kept you there for what felt like an eternity, and you didn’t even struggle in its grasp. You just gave up. After a few more moments, it suddenly picked you up, and you let out a yelp. It grasped you tightly by the shoulders and you cried out and winced as its claws dug into your already injured arm. You shut your eyes tightly, waiting for it to get it over with, whatever it was going to do with you.
Nothing. You cautiously opened your eyes. It was still holding you. Its claws were still dug into your sensitive skin. You almost thought it was completely frozen. That was until you looked down and realized its tail was wagging quite aggressively. You involuntarily let out a noise of complete confusion. It seemed to hear you, as it immediately perked and let out a sound of what could only be classified as content. You squeaked as it pulled you into what you assumed it meant as a hug. You didn’t really know how to react. You were too scared to. You simply allowed it to curl up against you. This was fine. Could be worse, you could be dead.
You jumped as you felt its teeth graze your shoulder, before shifting down to where that other monster bit you. It gently nibbled where the bloody bandage was wrapped on your arm. You felt its cold tongue lick you, and you cringed to yourself at the strange and slightly horrifying feeling. Suddenly, its teeth bit down onto the wrappings and pulled them clean off. You trembled as it lowered its head towards the still open gash in your arm. It seemed to inhale the scent of your blood, satisfied. Then, to your complete shock, it spoke to you, in a gravelly voice,
“..Smelled you.”
Unable to think or speak, you just sat there. You couldn’t even feel the pain in your arm anymore when this thing was just snuggling you like this. Suddenly, once again, it picks you up. This time, it carries you over its shoulder. Despite its roughness, it shows care for the wound on your arm. It spoke to you once more, “Smells.. sweet. Though.. don’t die on me.. just yet.” Your brain practically turned to mush. You didn’t know what was going on anymore. It sat you down on the desk and you watched it pull out a brand new roll of bandages. It immediately got to work at wrapping your arm up again. Despite being blind, it did a damn good job, maybe even better than you did. Pretty weird how it ripped off your bandages, only for it to rebandage you barely five minutes later. Though you suppose it isn’t the weirdest thing that's happened to you today.
It pulled back when it finished. Good as new, you realized. You looked up at it wearily, and it was practically grinning. Its tail wagged happily as you rubbed your finger pads over the fresh bandage. You tried to get up, but its arms wrapped around your waist in an instant, stopping you from moving. As your back was against its chest, you could feel it purr quietly. It nuzzled into your cheek as it inhaled your scent.
You sighed heavily as your gaze landed on the doors held shut by that lock. You pondered on how you would be able to leave this place. Though as you thought about that, the monster’s grip on you tightened ever so slightly.
You grimaced. You didn’t think it was going to let you leave any time soon.
