Wayne Manor

As the Casket lowered on the ground, the elderly Selina Kyle-Wayne watched with a heartbroken yet accepting expression.

Bruce Wayne, the Batman of Gotham for 35 years before he was forced to retire due to his age and heart, passed away a few days ago in the hospital.

The years of crime fighting had finally catch up and taken him from her but... she knew Bruce would have done it all over again.

He was a good man. Not perfect, from it, especially when it came to those, he loved but... he cared. He loved his family, his sons and daughters so much he would go to hell and back for them without question.

He helped Dick move on from his parents' death and be better than Bruce, gave Jason a home and a true father figure, gave Tim the love he needed, helped Damian curb his violent impulses, showed Cass a way to be a hero, took Duke in when his parents died, and more.

Bruce Wayne wasn't perfect, but he was a good man who cared.

Dick Grayson held his crying daughter, Mar'i Grayson-Anders, as his wife, Koriand'r shed her own tears, holding them both.

Jason Todd had tears streaming down his cheeks, but Artemis Grace wiped them off as he held her husband.

Tim Drake was holding his wife's Rose Wilson, hand as he let his grief wash over him.

Damian Wayne and his twin, Athanasia, held each other as Rachel Roth and Jonathan Kent held them both.

Duke Thomas held his son, Alfred Thomas, as he let his own tears flow down his cheeks while his wife, Isabella Ortiz, rubbed soothing circles in their backs.

Helena Wayne-Kyle was sobbing her heart out as her brother, Tallant Wayne-al Ghul, held her, his eyes filled with unshed tears.

Helena Bertinelli whispered a silent prayer as her husband, Victor Sage, held their daughter Maria.

Terry McGinnis clentched his fist as Melanie Walker wrapped an arm around his waist.

Clark Kent looked solemnly at the casket as did Hal Jordan, Barry Allen, Oliver Queen, Roy Harper, Sara Lance, Dinah Lance, Martian Manhunter and other members of the Justice League who were still alive.

Diana Prince had tears streaming down her cheeks.

Terry slowed walked over to Bruce's headstone.

'Here lies Bruce Wayne.

A friend, husband, father, philanthropist and most of all,

the hero Gotham deserves'

"I'll keep Gotham safe, Bruce. I promise." Terry said with all the conviction he had.

"Thought you'd live outlive us all, old man." Jason muttered.

"Guess he even he wasn't too stubborn to die." Tim said somberly.

"We all aren't, Tim." Selina said, holding out her hand for him, which he took.

"I can't believe father's gone." Damian said.

"Death comes for us all, Damian. Even to those who don't deserve it." Dick said sympathetically.

"Yeah but... it's Bruce! Freaking Batman!" Duke exclaimed.

"At the end of the day, Bruce was a man with no powers but what he did have was this need to save everyone, even the life of his enemies at times, even to his own detriment. I'll always respect that." Clark said.

"Spooky could be an ass but at the end of the day, he cared just as much as we all did, even if he hid it." Hal added.

"You know, I met Bruce in boarding school when he and I were teenagers. Guy was always somber but every now and then, a little bit of the real Bruce appeared and every time it did, I felt pride at that." Oliver said with a bittersweet smile.

"Gotham is in good hands with you, Terry." Dick said, patting his younger sibling in the shoulder. "Bruce was always proud of your accomplishments as Batman."

"Hell, I still can't believe you actually end the Joker once and for all." Jason said, wrapping an arm around his shoulder. "That is why you are my favorite sibling."

"Bruce would have wanted you to keep going." Cass said, placing a hand on his heart.

"Gotham is in the hands of the best successor it could ask for." Athanasia said.

Terry looked teary eyed at the praise.

"Thank you." Terry smiled gratefully at all of them.

Once the rest of the heroes had left, breaches opened as out stepped several Batmen and their Batfamilies.

"Never thought we'd lose one of our own." Batman noted, looking a lot like Christian Bale as his Selina, who looked like Anne Hathaway, held hands. Their Nightwing, who looked like Joseph Gordon Levitt, also looked down in sadness.

"Time is cruel, you know." Bruce said, who looked like Ben Afleck.

"He was the best of us." Wayne said, looking like Michael Keaton. His Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer) and former Robin, now Nightwing (Chris O'Donnell) held each of his hands.

"At least he and the other Batman can rest easy now." Detective, who liked Robert Pattinson, said mournfully. His Selina (Zoe Kravitz) held his hand.

"May god have rest on his soul." Crusader (Rino Romano) said mournfully as his Batgirl and Nightwing looked mournfully.

"We'll watch over his loved ones." Knight (Roger Craig Smith) promised, earning nods of agreement.

"And carry on his work on our Gothams like he did for 35 years." Billionaire (Troy Baker) said sincerely. His Catwoman (Laura Bailey), smiled at him, nodding her head in agreement.

"Let's go home." Cowl (Jensen Ackles) said, wrapping an arm around his Selina's shoulders.

They all walked, mourning their fellow Batman.

Bruce Wayne was led into the gates of the afterlife. He landed down in front of Superman but wasn't his Superman.

He smiled kindly at him.

"Did I do good?" Bruce couldn't help but ask.

"You did good. Not perfect but you helped many people. Your parents would be proud." Superman said, smiling at him.

Bruce nodded, feeling relieved at that.

Notes:

Kevin Conroy, the voice of the Batman for thirty years since 1992, has tragically passed away.

This fic is in honor of him and despite my utter disdain of what DC has done to Batman, Conroy always kept me coming back.

Thank You Kevin Conroy for being the Batman many of us grew up with and we hope you can rest knowing you will not be forgotten.

The cameos were of course of the other Prominet Batman actors and VA's and their reference was to Adam West, who also passed away a few years ago.

The Superman Conroy met is none other than Christopher Reeves himself. The Best Batman and Best Superman meet at last.
