Challenges are given out on the discord every 2 or so weeks. Just in case you ever wanted a fun prompt!

Prompts are WR by nature (but alt WR+1 or more is also fun and allowed!)

Just pick a prompt and write your story!

No prompt has a time limit or an order it has to be done. See each chapter for info on that prompt.

Other than that use your imagination and try to keep a happy ending for our goobers in mind!

You've probably seen myself and various other people use the challenge tag or stories from these and these prompts are what produced them. So that's neat!

Again WR or WR+ are what we're going for. If you want to write for example a Cinwin story go for it as long as WR are in it then have at it!

The Witches Brew

Premise: Weiss or Ruby stumbles upon/finds a witch/fortune teller who can divine your true love. Up to the writer on how much or little it shows could be anything from name, smells, important things, dream, and so on. Weiss and her motivations are also up to the writer. Whether it be an accident, or intentional or what have you. (edited)

World: Any. Examples Au: It's hogwarts and Amortia is in the air. Medieval Au: Weiss is the heir to the throne but she must marry before she can ascend to the throne. She hears tales and seeks out a witch who can tell her who her true love is because she can't trust any of her suitors and their intentions. Modern Au: It's a fair and a fortune teller type Weiss stumbles upon be it from her friends instigation or maybe she helps the fortune teller so they offer her a free reading or drink etc. Just examples use your imagination or just take whatever you want (edited)

Destiny's Problem Child

World: Medieval/Modern/Normal Remnant (Modern ie Weiss spent her life steering the SDC correctly and restoring its name) 

Medieval (Weiss ruled her kingdom until end times)

Normal Rem (They died fighting Salem or managed to win but not get together etc) Please note these are all examples feel free to do your own 

Weiss had lived a good life she thought. So when she found herself before the brother gods she was surprised to hear them say she'd completely  botched everything up. Saving the world? Well, that did sound pretty important except that apparently that's some Ruby girls job and she's  just supposed to be along for the ride as arm candy. Now that won't do.

Don't these people know who she is? If the gods themselves say she has to go back and live her life with Ruby fine but she's doing it on her terms and she's not going to be 2nd fiddle to anyone. She'll make Ruby fall in love with her and "save the world" even if it kills her Chosen of the gods or not.

No word count limit. No submission deadline. Ruby and Weiss can either have never met, been good buddies or anything in between. Additional Note the brother gods can be totally truthful or lying to her or in between for w/e reasons you want. They can give her as much or little info on where or how to find Ruby as you wish.

Right Person Wrong Place

World: Modern

Since the last was more restrictive and it's spooktober (the best month, holiday, and season with my birthday so very cool month for me honestly) we're going to be a bit more open-ended this time

One of the WR couple (writers choice) is living a boring life, and is a bit lonely. Their friends cajole them into giving speed dating a try.

Nearly being late they don't even notice that they've gone to the wrong location. They arrive and are captivated during the evening by the missing WR member. There's only 1 problem. The other person (and everyone else there) is a monster (of whatever type you prefer) and they're well...human. 

How do they get through the night and how does the night end? Well, that's up to you to decide.

An Imperative Unmasking

World: Any

One of the WR is from family of witches (can be something else) who considers themselves guardians of nature. 

Once a witch masters their powers (typically around maturity), t he forest spirits provide a necklace as thanks, that helps them find their destined one.

Only their destined ones can see or interact with it in any way.  (if the necklace guides or helps them in any other way to find their destined one is up to you)

Once they get it they travel the world to find them. After several years with no luck they are feeling down and stop at a festival to relax

Several hours later they reach for her necklace only to realize it's gone. Frantically she begins to look for it only for a masked stranger

to hand her the necklace, and rejoin the party. They are so relieved she puts it back on before  she realizes afterward what it means and tries to find them. Can only recall silver/blue eyes shining through the mask.

How does she find them? Does she see them that night, or later? Are they even human? That's all up to you.

Six Minutes to Midnight

World: Modern, Past, Medieval

There's an old house on the outskirts of town. One that's been there as long as anyone can remember.  A dilapidated manor house. Completely normal save on the week leading up to Hallows Eve where candles light the windows and indistinct figures can be seen roaming around.

It's said that if you enter the house sometime before midnight you'll meet the supernatural inhabitants of the house. Not that any of the people who enter ever return, or so the story goes. 

One of the WR couple goes in  (at the goading or their friends, or for some other reason maybe to escape a storm and it's a coincidence)

The other is the supernatural inhabitant. What happens? What kind of creature are they? Are they one?

Well, that's entirely up to you.

Curating Cute Culinary Catastrophes

World: Modern/Future

One of WR is a world famous chef. The other a rising youtube chef/baker. A critic(your choice on who) comes in and compares the chef's food unfavorably.

This leads the famous chef to finding and becoming enamored with the youtube chef via their videos. The famous chef's manager sets up a "friendly" competition with the youtuber.

Which sets the stage for the meeting. What happens from then on? That's for you to decide

Late Awakening

World: Hero Au/Normal OG Remnant world/Any really

It was hard being normal and wanting to be a hero but that wasn't going to stop them. Until One day they wake up with to a new development! Their power(or semblance) has finally awakened and turned their life into a game (your choice on the type rpg/puzzle/dating sim lol/survival horror/whatever) and the only objective they can see is to "get the girl" "beat the bad guys" and "live happily ever after"

(feel free to add more objectives if you desire it).

How do they do it? Can they find the "girl" let alone get them and save the world while beating the bad guys and keeping their gift under wraps?

Thanksgiving bonus objectives if you can include:

Pondering Pontificating Podcasts

World: Modern/Future/Show Remnant (If this option Salem doesn't exist but Grimm do)

Prompt: Someone has a podcast. Somehow this solves everything. 

In the world of Remnant there is a podcast hosted by one/both or neither of the WR duo. 

Follow along as one or both guide aspiring hunters as best they can while also hunting themselves. 

If it's modern world they can just be a horror podcast.

If show world it's where Grimm exist and Salem does not so beacon never fell. 

Future? Your choice here. 

If both already run it then feel free to just make it an episode of the podcast with a cute story about how they met and started it. 

If not then maybe a story about how they found each other. 

Your choice really.

Real World Problems Require Imaginary Solutions

World: Any

Prompt: One, or both of the WR couple have had a rough childhood for whatever reasons the author chooses

In order to make it through their day-to-day they make up an imaginary friend. It's incredibly detailed (and of course is the other member of WR or WR+ member). For some strange reason they never name the imaginary friend because it just doesn't feel right.

The imaginary friend is there for them through it all and is the ultimate confidant. At one point the day before they enter high school/something else important they're laying in bed with the friend and say 

"I wish you were real" to which they respond "I'm as real as you want me to be".

When they wake up the next day they can't find their imaginary friend saddened they go to school/whatever and get to class. Halfway through the class they're interrupted by a teacher coming in with a new transfer student

They introduce themselves as Ruby/Weiss (depending on who they are if both you can do it a different way). The one in the class is shocked beyond belief their imaginary friend is there but there's no way that they're real. It just can't be. Until that is the friend winks at them before sitting down in class. 

What happens from there? Up to you of course.

Vicariously Victorious Valentine

Premise: Remnant is a strange place filled with kind people. Legends tell of an ancient story where a noble Queen named Salem lost her beloved and in a desperate prayer to the gods she begged for her husband to be brought back and the gods listened in their own way. 

You see they brought him back in the body of another man who claimed to be her beloved.

After proving he had memories he had no way of knowing Salem used her great magic to inscribe her name onto his arm and made it so that it would show up as soon as his soul had grown into a man and she would always know it was he. Realizing what the gods intended for her to do she set about casting a great spell for all of humanity and Faunus kind so they wouldn't have to suffer looking for their perfect partner. And that's how the soulmates came to be known at least that's what the stories say. Soulmates* true* names appear on the arms on Valentine's Day the year after the youngest of the pair has turned 18. One of the WR pair is excited to find out and the other is worried sick. Who, How, and Why? Have they even met? You decide!

Taking on all Comers - A Noir Challenge!

Prompt: They're about to embark on their biggest challenge as a couple so far in their lives but they'll do it the way they always have... together!

What the challenge is, is your choice. They'll  look back on and think back over other challenges (that you'll decide) to pump each  other up to help them realize that what they've faced before has prepared them for the now.

A Serious Summons

Prompt: Ozpin is desperate and summons a hero(s) from another world to help him with a problem (you may choose the problem can be Salem or something more mundane or epic) Sadly for Ozpin it's a pissed-off part of the pairing who's furious at being separated from their partner. Ozpin doesn't understand or brushes off why they're upset at being summoned. He just wants their help. Once summoned then the first thing they do is demand the other be brought to them before doing whatever you like (be that actually helping, messing around with Ozpin, or just straight leaving or w/e)

I pity da fool

One of the couple is infatuated with the other. How long they've known them is up to you (ie love at first sight, friends forever etc), but the problem is that recently their crush has been spending all their time with someone else!

Who this person is, is left to you. The crush-struck one of the pair will do all they can to get the missing member(s) to notice them by any means needed!

Optional lines/thoughts to include:

She was pretty sure this wasn't illegal. Probably. Maybe. That wasn't important though. 

Who was that hussy moving in on her turf? Didn't they know she belonged to her? Well not yet but soon for sure!

She hadn't thought she'd get this far so she hadn't practiced any lines beyond her opener!

Ok, so cookies hadn't worked so she'd have to go for the big guns. Zwei. Her dad could mail him to her right?

-Optional have Blake or Yang be her "friend" and never mention they know who the W/R member are stalking...for science...and amusment

"For Want of a Nail" is a proverb, reminding us that seemingly unimportant acts or omissions can have grave and unforeseen consequences.

Your challenge is a little different. We can all see how a single change can cause great effect…but what about two? 

Choose two of the following changes and make your story conform to them. In any way you wish. A simple one shot, or an epic tale for the ages. It’s all up to you! (if you have another nail you'd like to use that's fine too)

Mix and Match at least two changes and see what the outcome is!

-Ruby is the older sister. How much older? 2 to 5 years. For example, maybe she got to grow up with Summer longer if she died (maybe she did not) and Raven. How would that change and affect her and Yang?

-Nicholas Schnee lives or lived long enough to help raise his grandchildren. How would all of the Schnee family lives change if Grandfather was alive?

-Willow has enough. Willow refuses to fall into a drunken depression when her children need her. She pushes herself past her grief to be there for her children instead. Is she a huntress who trains the kids? Does she divorce Jerkface no matter the outcome (ie what does she keep) and take the kids away, do a mix? 

-Qrow sobers up. Qrow realizes his drinking doesn’t actually help and that he needs to be more involved in his family's life before they’re gone and he has nothing left. (be that as a hunter if in rem or an actual father figure in modern or something else) (edited)

-Salem is no more. In this AU Ozma did his job and found a way to seal himself and Salem away for all eternity. How does this world work when Grimm still exist but without a queen to guide them?

-Qrow or Summer adopt a kid. On a routine trip Qrow and Summer come across a child (emerald or cinder) and realize that this isn’t right and do what they do best. Mess things up. Whichever one isn’t taken by the first two is taken by Raven when she finds out there’s one left. 

-Winter’s path in life was clear. Join the military to escape her father and house…until she runs into a crying Weiss on her way to enlist and realizes she can’t leave her all alone with no one to help her. On that day her path changes and she stays to properly help raise Weiss. 

-One of the two WR pair has lost a sense (any of the ones you want from taste to sight or anything in between) or was born without it

Engineered Romance

One of the WR couple is well known. This can be for any reason world/time period dependent. 

Ie a princess or famous artist/sports player/whatever. Their family is forcing them/sets up/confronts them about still being single.

For example, this could be that they're worried about them still being alone, forcing them for publicity, or any reason you can think of and spreads word of the person "looking for love"

The other member is a fan of theirs/childhood friend (they can either know the other or have never met) and sees the ad and instantly falls  in love with them. They're determined to make them theirs. Probably. 

Use One of More of the Following! Or don't!

Oh yes. She was definitely going to do her best to make her the future Mrs Schnee/Rose. As soon as they could hold a conversation.

Was it legal to be this cute? If it was she was clearly breaking the law. How could someone be this charming and adorable without trying?

The last time I tried to go out I Got mobbed by crazies. They kept trying to like smell me, and stuff. 

There's no one I'd rather be forcefully engaged to. 

This is the 2nd worst birthday. 2nd worst? <Oh yeah so basically ,authors choice>

Unexpected but not unwelcome surprise

World Any

Weiss liked everything done by a schedule. She wanted to know when everything was going to be done where and why and liked it that way. 

An unexpected surprise forces RR and WS to interact even though they've never met. Turns out maybe Weiss does like SOME surprises after all.

Pick a member of the WR pair and write the story of the unexpected surprise from that person's POV. 

Lines to include or not:

There were precious few things Weiss would tolerate interrupting her carefully planned schedule. A ridiculously cute girl was one of them. 

How did that pretty girl eat/drink these? It was worse than that time Yang told her to eat the entire orange peel and all. She thought it would taste like candy. It had not. 

If she’d calculated it correctly she was almost 3 minutes ahead of schedule. She could use those three minutes to try and properly woo the mystery angel. She was a Schnee how hard could it be?

It was in fact much harder to woo said angel when she found herself unable to speak randomly while trying to talk to her. 

Ok so maybe it was her fault but the girl was still being mean and yelling at her. Maybe offering her a cookie would help?

What would Yang do? Ok, right, punch her that wouldn’t work well. Flirt? She’d never done that before well here goes <insert authors choice of lame nerd attempt at flirting that somehow works super well on Weiss>

The Trouble with Emotes

Ruby and Weiss met online and in the real world. Through being able to communicate online their friendship deepened and both girls's developed feelings for each other.

One of the WR couple can't handle it and admits they love the other. The one that doesn't say it responds in a panic with an emoji. Of your choice (wheeze, etc). They then realize they need help and turn to their friends and family for support to help figure it out. Can they solve it themselves?

Use one or more of the following:

"Auntie Raven I need your help. You see Weiss told me she loved me and I used a wheezing emoji," Whatever else she was going to say was cut off as the door closed in her face.

"And why did you think (insert emote/emoji) emote would help? -I PANICKED!

They go to Blake who brings them into the room one after another and then just leaves while locking the door.

"What is a maymay Weiss?"

"Why dont' you just tell her how you feel in person?" -"That's not possible. You don't understand!" -No seriously just go talk to her in person. You have feet make it happen!

Dance Epidemic

A Duncan Request. Duncan aka Bandgrad_2008 on AO3 has requested this one so please make sure you tag or gift these fics to him. 

They have requested something simple. A story of WR dancing. The reason, location, time don't matter. It could be a wedding, party during the war to unwind, Weiss teaching Ruby for the Beacon dance, etc. Take your pic.

Weiss goes to show Ruby how to dance, but Ruby is an exceptional dancer and Weiss is...very attracted to it. 

R: These lady stilts are trying to assassinate me Weiss! W: It's murder Ruby, you don't meet the requirements for it to be an assassination. R: SO YOU ADMIT IT!

Ruby learns how to dance in secret to impress Weiss. She learns the wrong dance, but Weiss is flattered by the effort and they do the wrong dance style together anyway

Choking on a Rose (White or otherwise)

Fairytales are a fun flight of fancy for many but not every fairy tale is fake. 

Some are very real. 

Hanahaki disease is one of many fairy tales that happen to be real but is the one most people might encounter in their day-to-day life.
Someone has got it bad for the other (your choice who and who or booooth?) but thinks the other doesn't reciprocate for w/e reason. 

How do you resolve this? 
No MCD and happy endings if you please.

Opposites attract (spooktober edition)

World Any

There's a famous saying that opposites attract and that's double true for the supernatural world.

Your task should you choose to accept it, is to introduce our favorite dork pair to each other. They can be whatever supernatural creatures you desire but should be opposites. Werewolf and Vampire, Selkie, and Phoenix ect.

Basically, they should be diametrically opposed normally. From there what happens is up to you!

Pick one or more to introduce.

The odds of this going poorly were only mostly certain so she tried anyway. 1

-(a)We're supposed to fight to the death and be eternal enemies! (b) that's way too much work. Want to eat a cookie? (a)sigh yes please

-It was getting awfully hard to remember that they were supposed to be enemies when she was too busy thinking this girl was way too pretty to fight.

-One of the group is so enamored they propose as soon as they meet the other one which flusters the other.

A Special Summons (spooktober edition)

World Any

In theory summoning a demon was a horrible idea, but she knew they didn’t exist, or rather she was almost sure they didn’t and she wasn’t going to be called a coward for chickening out. Although why it had to be done at midnight in the dilapidated house in the middle of the woods she didn’t know.

Someone is being peer pressured to summon a demon, only something goes wrong…or right.

Choose the partner you desire and the friends you want them to have. The other is of course what they summon, but is it a demon they summon?

Do they mess up the ritual and summon something else? What happens next? From there what happens is up to you!

Pick one or more to include:

-In theory demons didn’t exist. In actuality, she was pretty sure there was one, or something demon adjacent looking at her right now.

-Why couldn’t magic summoning be done in your own room? Or with cookies? Cookies would be way better.

-Was she dreaming? She had to be there was no way demons existed and she’d managed to summon one with the cheap trick from the back of a cereal box.

-”You’re not thinking of the positives here,” “Which are?” “I don’t know I was kind of hoping you could tell me.”

-”Did you just throw water on me?” “Holy water it’s supposed to banish demons…you know...get banished,” “I can see the bargain bin sticker on it,”

Malevolent Media

World Any

There's a saying that items can leave an imprint of a person. A loved one's favorite record, or hearing their voice calling out to you when you go to their room.

Sometimes though...that imprint isn't exactly friendly. Your task should you choose to accept it is for the WR (or+) pair or if you'd prefer them to be single at the start that's fine too to have a run-in with a cursed item.

The item should be some form of media, a projector film, vhs tape, movie, game, book, etc.

The story from the media is coming to life, and they need to find a way to stop it before it claims them as their next victim. How they find that item is up to you as is the manner of cleansing it or simply getting away from it.

Choose one or more to include:

-If single the other can be a ghost hunter or something of that nature they go to even though they're not popular(in school) or reputable (out of school older)

-She absolutely didn't deserve this. Mostly...probably. Cardin certainly deserved it more than her

-Ok, so the whole blessing didn't work out, but she'd gotten holy water and candy so not a total loss.

-Ok whether or not monsters were real this thing clearly was so she really needed to get out of here right now.

-Wow this woman was entirely too attractive to be in the ghost-hunting business. She'd always just assumed it would be a bunch of sweaty nerds who hadn't bathed in a week not a woman who looked like she could model in her off time. ///Holy cookies this lady was waaaaay too pretty to be a ghost hunter.

It's a Promise

"Sure if we're both single when we (authors choice) then we'll get married," Weiss said only slightly tipsy to her equally tipsy rival
in (author's choice school, business world, pokemon trainer etc). 

"It's a promise," Ruby said with only a slight slur to her voice as they tapped their cups together. 

What each of the other didn't know was that they were going to make sure the promise happened. By sabotaging any other potential relationships because
they were in love with their rival. 

Look out any who even thought of trying to take them away from her. 

In this challenge, you will write the WR pair doing whatever it takes to make sure they marry the loves of their lives! Or at least get to date them!

-Didn't that little hussy know whose turf they were moving in on? Just because she hadn't said anything didn't mean X wasn't off-limits! Oh she'd show her why you didn't try to take what was hers!

-She was just doing this because X was the only person she could stand. And certainly not because they had actual feelings for them. God no. It didn't matter how pretty they looked, or the stupid cute face or god damn it!

-That was weird she could have sworn she heard X but this was like the third floor and they didn't live around here so it was probably her imagination.

One of the WR couple is morose. They've been alone for along time and they're sick of it, but not sure what to do, that is until their friends tell them they signed them up for a blind date for Valentine's Day. Annoyed but resigned they go anyway and when they show up they find out their date is the most perfect person they've ever seen before. 

They have to have them! How can they impress them before the dinner's end so they can continue to see them?

She'd never been a big believer in the entire love at first sight trope but she very much was re-evaluating that now

Our History is yet to be written
Feb 24th to April1st

It's the future! With the recent advent of time travel, historian has become a very important and respected job. 

Traveling to the past to see how events really happened and making sure to document it are critical. 

Of course after a few years most of the major events in history have all been recorded. 

What's left was mostly the more minor or trivial things. 

Your task if you choose to accept it is to write one of the WR duo on their first journey back in time to meet someone who would become
an incredibly important part of history. 

Somehow they bump into the other member of the duo. What happens then?

Entirely up to you!

Lines you may decide to include-

"Wait what kind of cookies do they have in the future?"

"You expect me to believe you're from the future?" Weiss asked as Ruby held out her historian's liscense and eagerly nodded her head.
"Security I need a homeless layabout removed from the premises," Weiss said into the intercom as Ruby sputtered. 

"Why aren't you saying anything? It's just Ruby," Weiss said not understanding why the other woman was so afraid of Ruby
"I am hungry and pissed. She is right to fear me," Ruby said in a tone that made Weiss think of an angry puppy rather than anything else.

Premise: There's a bit of a show coming up and one of WR needs a partner for it. Is it a gig, battle of the bands, talent show, pro idol tour? You decide. 

How will they convince the other member(s) to help them, and to what results? That's for you to decide.

It is time once again for the yearly writers collab!

Here's how it works. You sign up and are paired at random with another author. 

You will then write at least a 2 chapter story based on a picture from a talented artist. 

The first month is sign ups. If you need to drop out at any point during this time just let us know

Once the sign ups are done you'll be given an option of what picture you want to write a story for. 

Pictures can and will be comissioned for each pair with various prizes being awarded for groups that finish their stories! Prizes are a secret until they're completed. 

There is no time limit on this only that you finish it at some point. 

Whether you and your partner each write a chapter to go with the other or just collab for both is up to you!

The fic is to be gifted to whomever the artist's picture you're writing a story about is.

Baleful Bargain Bin Birthday -

One of the WR(or +1 or w/e pair you like) pair on a whim they’d picked a cheap gift for themselves for their birthday at an estate sale/flea market/garage sale.

After all it’s not like anyone else would remember to get them anything. A sort of novelty doll that appeared like the sort of cheap gift you’d find mass produced, but it was clearly ancient and made with love. 

Strange things began to happen they can’t explain. Dreams of dates, and adventures with someone bearing the dolls likeness. 

Any non family they bring over find themselves creeped out and chased away in short order feeling like something is wrong while the family all seem to adore the doll and congratulate them on finding such a good match playfully as the doll always seems to be around regardless of where they left it. 

This all comes to a head when their last attempted suitor is sent screaming from the house only for them to find a note with the words ‘you’re mine’ on it. 

What happens from there? Your call.

Spookyween Challenge time #1-Name: The Road to Nowhere

Time Period: Sept 30th to Oct 6th

Pairing: WR, WR+, or any (if not WR focused make sure they're mentioned, or show up doing something cute at least in passing)

Legends has it that one fateful night a young girl, almost a woman was walking on this very road when a strangely heavy fog settled. 

The last anyone saw of her was a man out for a walk with his dog just before the fog swallowed her up as she went past the tree line. 

A massive search was called when she didn’t come home, and didn’t show up anywhere else either. The entire forest, the path, and everything they could think to check was searched, and no trace of her was ever found. 

They say if you sit on this very bench, right before the entrance to the forest on Halloween, and wait, the lights will start to dim, the fog will roll in, and you’ll hear her walking, some say even running from something. 

Many have tried to save, or follow her, but none have returned. 

Of course that’s just a story…

Your choice is who the girl in the story, and who goes out on a dare to ‘find’ her. What they find? What happens next? Why did the girl vanish? Well…that’s up to you, now isn’t it?

Every town has a story, a tradition, and even if no one remembers why they do know it’s important, nay, vital, that they continue them. 

Their family has been a steadfast pillar in the community for as long as anyone can remember, and as such they’re now old enough to take up the family duty and do their part. 

They’re given a laminated sheet of paper with a list of rules that MUST BE FOLLOWED to ensure their safety, even if none of the rules make sense. 

Just make it to morning, and follow the rules. The town is counting on them.

She barely even had a chance to register what was happening when the stranger made a move to slam the door shut, pushing against it with all her might as if it was going to burst down any second. For some reason, rather than kick the girl out of her house, the homeowner obeyed and locked the door, sensing that this girl was truly in danger.'

What the Doctor Ordered: Spooktober 4th challenge (based on that thing)

Pairing: WR WR+1, or any really.

Date Oct 23-31st

The young woman sighed as she kept looking down between her leg as the doctor tapped on their notepad. 

“We ran a few tests…” the doctor said, trailing off, and running a hand through their hair with a sigh that said they weren’t going to be happy about what she heard next. 

She didn’t expect anything different. She didn’t even know why she’d bothered really. Some last instinct, or remnant of self preservation? 

Well if it was she’d done her due diligence, and could just…let things play out at this point. She focused back on the doctor to avoid being rude. If this was going to be one of her last interactions with a living person she should at least try to pay attention. Even if the doctor looked far more uncomfortable than she thought the situation warranted. 

“The tests came back normal, as I said, and so I just don’t think anti-psychotics would help you.”

There it was. She’d expected it, but still felt it slam into her like a sledgehammer. Some part of her had in fact hoped that maybe she really did just have a problem that was treatable.

“I see. Thank you, doctor,” she said as the doctor sighed once more, and ran a hand through his hair before he took his notepad back into his hand. 

She took note that his hand shook the slightest bit while writing. He was likely in a hurry, and had a line of patients to see, and she was holding him up. 

“It’s not exactly an anti-psychotic, but this might help,” the man said as the man tore the paper off his notepad, and glanced toward the corner of the room for a moment as if thinking before jotting down more information on the bottom of the page he then held toward her. 

Feeling the faintest glimmer of curiosity inside her, and taking anything that wasn’t utter despair she looked at the paper, and felt her eyes widen. 

She met the doctor’s eyes who gave the barest nod before they turned around, and began to explain how they could reschedule an appointment. 

The woman thanked him as she looked back to the paper:

“Don’t panic. I can see it too. I know someone who can help. The address is…”

Then she heard the thing breathe heavily as the rotting carcass slowly walked back over to her apparently finished with its inspection of the corner of the room. 

She balled the paper up to read later. 

She tried to convey her gratitude through a quick look toward the doctor, but had to leave. If there was even a chance to be free? She was going to take it, no matter what she had to do.

Soulmate exist. Apparently they're super romantic, but well there's just one thing. She 'has' a soulmate, and can't stand them. They met once, and again.

Their families were overjoyed at the connection, but...she felt nothing. None of the joy, or special feelings she was told came automatically to it. She felt numb. She'd been told it was just the shock, and the feelings would come, but she knew they were wrong. She left, not wanting to be around them, or forced into a relationship she had no desire to suffer through. And so she lived her life.

Every day the same, every hour unchanging, boring, colorless, but predictable, and best of all she was free. At least until she met her. Someone, one of the 'unlucky' ones born without a marking of some sort, who had to make due the old fashioned way if they could.

All she knew was that all the feelings she was supposed to be fated to feel for her soulmate? She was pretty sure she was feeling them for this new stranger she'd just met instead. What...was happening to her?

The story after that? Up to you!

'This ritual will summon you to your soulmates side the first time you manage to summon a guardian. I foolishly thought what your father and I had was love, and didn't go through with it. Your sister left before I could inform her of it, but for you there's still a chance.

Weiss is determined to master it as soon as possible even if she's doubtful. One night early on at Beacon she manages to summon her knight in a fit of anger. The only problem? It keeps summoning her to her <childish team leader> every time. 

scenario 2 - 
Ruby had always loved fairy tales. Growing up her parents had told her all sorts of stories including the funny one about how her parents met with a spell to summon soulmates. When Ruby asked about doing it herself they'd always laugh, and tell her 'maybe when you're older'. 

Well Ruby Rose wasn't waiting any longer! She manages to find the book, and perform the ritual. The result? <The prettiest white haired princess she's ever seen. Who's really good at shouting.>

Pick your scenario:

'Ugh this is a girl! Trade with me said one of Ruby's classmates from Signal. Ruby didn't even bother arguing, and just looked at the paper with her new pen pal on it as they took her old one. 
She'd never been good at dealing with people in person, but...maybe over letters it wouldn't be so bad?

Drawing on all her nonexistent experience she did her best. 

"Hi, my name is Ruby Rose. I'm XX years old, and attend Signal. Ugh, I'm terrible at this..."

From there the story follows their letters back and forth with sections of one of them reading the letters, and penning their own as they grow up. 
Since the world is up to you the end point of the story is also up to you. 
Feel free to start from the Weiss side as well if you desire!

"I, uh have a dog, and a sister, uncle, mom, dad, and all that normal stuff. I once ate a cookie with my nose, but Yang says that's less normal."

Educating this Ruby Rose on who she truly was had just become priority number one. Someone who didn't know Weiss Schnee? Unthinkable. She was definitely writing back for that reason, and certainly not because she wanted a friend outside the manor...or more photos of the cute dog. 

Weiss stared in horror at the letter. Why did it have the entire front covered in stamps? 

Ruby stared at her hand in horror. Why was there so much glitter on the envelope?

Was Ruby bleeding as she wrote this letter? Weiss could commend that level of commitment if not worry over their lack of care for themselves. She sniffed. Ketchup, of course. Why had she even entertained anything any other thought?

Ruby wracked her brain for what the SDC stood for. Weiss seemed pretty insistent that it was important so she looked around her desk for ideas, and spied her new bottle of shampoo! That was it! They made soap, and smell good stuff, and Weiss was a model that made perfect sense! Weiss would be so proud she figured it out.

A lot of things had happened in Weiss's life, but finally they'd started turning around. She'd met real friends, and was living life out from under her father's thumb. It was just too bad that he offered her the one thing she'd always wanted. 

Control of the family company. There was just one string attached. She needed to be married before he'd hand it over. Weiss despaired at the idea that her father would take even this choice from her, not take her preferences into accounts...but then...she noticed. 

He must have rushed to have this sent out, or did it himself instead of one of his lawyers. It just said she needed a spouse. It didn't HAVE to be a man! Now she just needed to find one of her friends who would do this for her. 

As if the universe heard her pleas the door opened to admit her best friend Ruby Rose. 

Now she just needs to convince Ruby to marry her, and sign this document, before her father realizes the error he's made. She's certain she can convince Ruby this is really for the best. Think of the tax benefits! Not to mention her itty bitty teeny tiny basically microscopic crush on her.

 Challenge One - 'I stand alone.'

Pairing- WR or WR+

Date:6-30-25 to 7-31-25

Choose Ruby or Weiss- If Weiss it happens after Beacon's fall or some similar event, or Ruby Mountain Glenn, or something equally similar. The only real stipulation is that it needs to happen after they meet, but before V4 would start.

They're respective fathers pull them from the school after hearing about it. Jacques cause he's a dick and wants his heir back under his control. Tai because he can't bare to see anything happen to the last bit of Summer, and Ruby is technically underage. The twist? They never escape from that, or if they do it's far too late for them to really do anything about it, or find/help their team/friends. 

Then flash forward. The one not chosen has somehow managed to beat Salem (how not important) but they're really just missing the one person who was always there for them. They're famous but don't really care. They miss their friends, best friend that was taken from them, the one that understood them best. Queue them finally meeting them after so long completely by chance, and it's like no time has passed at all as they swap stories on what happened to each of them. 

 Challenge Two- 'After Death.'

For whatever reason at whatever time in their lives Ruby and Weiss are called back by the death of someone they both knew who named them as the inheritors of their estate. Why they died, or picked them are up to you.

Working in tandem they go through the deceased possessions, including a series of letters, recordings, pictures, and anything you can think of. They start to realize (perhaps even with help from the deceased) what they truly meant to each other and wonder why they missed their chance in the first place.

Maybe this is a sign they should reconsider. After all as X has shown them, life is far too short to live without living.

Ruby finds something really expensive of your choice, but has no idea it's from her soulmate. Thinks someone just lost it because well why would that be from her soulmate of all people? 

Weiss finds a package of cookies and/or strawberries. 

Jacques is disgusted by finding something 'low class' as he assumes its from her soulmate, and doesn't want to let them meet.

Ruby tries to leave messages to her soulmate to get to know them better (for some reason the exact name never transfers but general things or areas they are going to do)

Pick a character. That character gets sent to help the other one as their guardian angel. They are meant for great things but at this point in their lives is truly struggling and might not make it.

What starts out as a rocky meeting turns into a great friendship turns to romance as A tries so very hard not to fall for B knowing that they'll have to leave.

Meeting by crashing into each other (they haven't exactly got the hang of managing their wings on earth just yet oops) or they show up and have to tackle the idiot they're supposed to guide out of some danger they don't see

The mortal somehow comes to the wrong conclusion about what they are with whatever silly evidence you want to use (ie I know what you are...a pirate etc)

When the angel goes back they gift them something to remember them by (a never wilting rose, an angel feather etc)

They say a picture is often worth a thousand words. Sadly none of the words she'd use could explain, or help her understand the picture in her hands. She'd found the camera in the back of a second hand thrift shop with a roll of film still left inside. She developed it out of curiosity only to feel horror instead.

The woman in the photo. Who was she? Why was she so afraid, and more importantly why does she keep appearing in any photos she takes? 

Each time she's a little more distressed, a little more worried, but she's getting the feeling she's not worried for herself...but for her. 

But that's absurd...isn't it?

Pick your character, and the other takes the place of the photo girl. What's after her? Can they be saved? Is it already too late for both of them? Well that's for you to decide?

Pick your choice of partner. They’ve been keeping a diary for a while, for whatever reasons you like. One day they find a different diary has replaced their own. They don’t remember owning this one. Curious, they open it up, and find strange handwriting inside.It goes into great detail about their life in the future. At first they suspect a prank, but as the day goes on it predicts everything to the letter.Strange, but what’s worse is the last page of the diary. The way they were murdered, and the crime covered up.With little more than a week to live if the diary is right they have to find out a way to solve their own murder before it happens in the first place.The trouble is no matter what they try to do differently, the last page never changes…What happens there is up to you!

Shaking, tired, cold, and alone with a broken down car the character of your choice is relieved to see a simple candle lit in a window of a nearby home, the only nearby home. 

Knocking produces no answer, but freezing to death means they step inside...only to blink when they find a large party in progress. Guests, all in glamorous costumes, laugh freely, the best drinks, and food flow freely, and everything seems perfect, even if she was given new clothes, a costume rather, to change into while hers were dried. 

At least until a short while later she's handed a small note informing her of the 'rules' of the gathering. She can't tell anyone her real name, she can't tell them where, or when she's from, or give any overt hints that she's trapped. They'll be listening, and they WILL know.

One other guest is trapped like she is, and she has until dawn to find them, and with their key, escape the mansion. If she doesn't then she'll be trapped here with the rest of them forevermore. 

But hey maybe that's not so bad? After all what's better than an endless party? Then again the particularly hungry eyes she can feel on her say that maybe she doesn't want to know where the food came from.

How does she get out? Does she? That's up to you to decide.
