Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

“Uncle! Uncle! Can you tell us a story?”

“Yeah! It’s been so long since you told us a story!”

“Pwease Unike! Tell stowy!”

“Hahaha! Alright, little doughlings. Gather around. And let me tell you the long tale of the two Ancient heroes and their children’s adventures.”

-------------------------------------------------

Long ago, before our home was founded, there were two small villages, each on one end of Earthbread. One was covered in grass and surrounded by a large mighty tree. The other was surrounded by sand and hidden in a valley.

In the valley village, there was a kind Cookie with a smile as bright as the sunlight and a soul as pure as light magic. With every Cookie he meets, he always brought hope into their hearts. Even without his smile, his healing spells were strong enough to bring a Cookie from near staleness. While he couldn’t always see their smiles, he could feel the warmth from their smiles. With this, he wanted to leave his village and help others, just like his village.

In the grass village, there was a beautiful Cookie with hair as white as snow and a mind as sharp as a sword. For every book she touched, her mind, her powers, and her curiosity about the outside world grew. She could easily give other Cookies a boost but she would never do her duties due to her need to learn more. Even the Great Tree warned her to stop unless she wish to be banished from her home. However, this only made her want to leave more, to never look back.

One day, both Cookies received an invitation to a magical school to grow their powers. This gave them the chance to reach their goals faster: one to help others and the other to learn more. But they never expected to have their paths crossed in this school.

The village Cookie had never met a Cookie with such beauty but with such sadness in her eyes. He wanted to help her but he couldn’t help but feel his heart beat faster whenever she was near. Meanwhile, the forest Cookie had never met a Cookie with such brightness as him, and yet she could see the loneliness in his smile. She didn’t want him to get in the way of her goal but she couldn’t help but smile whenever he was around. As they spent more time together, the more their feelings grew.

As the school years go by and they go on adventures with three more friends, the village Cookie had noticed the forest Cookie’s curiosity getting stronger…and darker. While he did want to help her, he could feel something off forming around her. He tried to keep her on the right path, however, it was not enough and they went their separate ways.

It wasn’t until the founding of a new kingdom that they reunited again.

The village Cookie was crowned king and the forest Cookie came to celebrate. They talked the festivity away and couldn’t be separated. The forest Cookie decided to stay by the King Cookie that night and every night since. Thus earning her status as Lover Cookie.

It wasn’t long until two bundles of joy appeared in their lives, followed by another, and another on the way. The two were happy at last.

However, all that changed when the Queen of Darkness appeared. She wanted to engulf the whole world in darkness and have everyone under her control. Her first sight was of the new kingdom, thus starting the war.

Afraid for their children’s safety, the King and the Lover told their extended family to take their children far away from the kingdom. Somewhere that the Dark Queen, or even themselves, could never find them. The King even asked the Lover to go with one of them, but she refused, wanting to help protect the kingdom.

With the help of their friends, the King and the Lover were able to keep the Dark Queen at bay. But it wasn’t enough. The Dark Queen released one more attack that nearly destroyed all of Earthbread. Knowing what will happen to his loved ones if she won, the King sacrificed himself to seal both the Dark Queen and himself into a void.

The world was saved but the Lover was devastated. She left the ruined kingdom and wandered all over Earthbread, searching for her children. But to no avail.

She could only hope for her family to be reunited again.

----------------------------------------------------

All Pure Vanilla could see was pitch black. He couldn’t tell what was up or down, left or right. It was safe to assume where he was. He took a deep breath and placed a hand over his heart.

“As long as they are safe…that’s all that matters.”

“Pure Vanilla!!” A voice called out to him. He didn’t know where it was coming from but he knew that it was close. It also sounded so familiar. Was it-

Before he could find the source, a hand grabbed his neck and started choking him.

“Where are they?!” Pure Vanilla gasped and tried to kick his attacker away. “Where are they?!”

“You…will…never…find…them…Dark…Enchantress…” He choked out.

Dark Enchantress growled before losing her grip. Pure Vanilla engulfed as much air as he could. He didn’t know what Dark Enchantress would do next. She spoke again, her voice filled with poison.

“Since you won’t tell me and I’m sure that weak White Lily will do anything to protect them, you will help me find a new one.”

“What…?”

“Oh, don’t act all innocent. You know what I want! And you know what I want from you!” Pure Vanilla’s eyes widen at this demand. He knew what she was talking and he knew that she would not give up. He tried to swing his staff, but Dark Enchantress blocked him. She cruelly smiled. “Now Pure Vanilla…”

Dark Enchantress changed forms, someone Pure Vanilla knew very well. “You know you can’t say no to me. Can you, darling?”
