Chapter Text

My first year at Nevermore. I hoped I could live up to my family's reputation and fame, especially because it took me forever to control my powers.

I walked into Principal Weems office and discussed the usual like classes and dorms. "You will be joined with another new student. Her name is Wednesday Addams. I hope you guys can get along nicely. I will assign someone to give you a short tour. They will also be your roommate." She handed me some documents and called for Yoko to come to her office.

"Principal Weems? You called?" A girl walked in. Her vibe was unbothered. She had blacked-out glasses and wore platform boots with her uniform. I honestly had to keep my mouth shut because of how jaw-dropping gorgeous she was.

"Yes. This is Y/N Y/L/N. She will be your new roommate and you will be giving her a tour and helping her settle in." Principle Weems said.

Yoko looked at me for a minute. I couldn't tell if she was annoyed but her attitude shifted, "Yes, ma'am. Is that all?"

Principal Weems nodded and I followed Yoko's lead.

Yoko introduced me to a few of her friends. “This is Bianca, Divina, and Enid.”

“Nice to meet you! You’re new here right? We’re going to have so much fun, I’m already excited!” Said the girl with pink and blue highlights. “I’m Enid Sinclair.” She smiled widely and twirled a little.

I looked around the quad and saw a boy with a bun painting on the wall, “Who’s that? Is he allowed to do that?”

Everyone turned around and Bianca rolled her eyes, “That’s Xavier.” She scoffed. The air became tense. My first day here and I already made things awkward.

“So…what’s your name? And what are your powers?” Enid said, quickly changing the subject.

“I’m Y/N and I’m a Y/C. Though I’m still trying to control them. It took forever but I think I’m at a good point.”

Enid looked elated, “Wait, your family is like super famous right? There's like hundreds of books about them in the library. That's so cool! I’m a werewolf but I can only do this.” She extended her multicolored claws. “Just a late bloomer.” She sighed.

I noticed Xavier walking over with a boy wearing a beanie. “Hey, I’m Xavier. This is Ajax.” Xavier had a genuine smile and shook my hand. Ajax seemed to have his attention on something…or someone. He attempted to steal glances at Enid. She tried to do the same but they kept making eye contact.

“Principal Weems told me there was another new student.” I chimed.

Enid’s face lit up, “Really? I have to post about this on my blog. I’ll see you guys later, nice meeting you Y/N!” Enid jolted up and ran inside the dorms.

“Her and that blog.” Ajax cracked. “I heard about the other new girl. They say she murdered someone.”

Bianca looked stunned but she still kept her composure, “And what’s her name?”

“Wednesday Addams.”

After unpacking and settling in my room I headed to my first class with Ms. Thornhill.

“Welcome, are you Y/N?” A lady with bright red hair said. “You can sit anywhere.” I looked around and saw two open seats. One was next to a girl in complete black. Her uniform had no color unlike the others. The other was next to Xavier. I decided to play it safe and sat next to him.

“Hey. You don’t mind if I sit here right?” I stammered. He nodded softly and smiled. “I really don’t know anything about botany.

He chuckled, “You’re good, this class is super easy. I can always help you with homework if you want.”

I heard giggling from the other side of the class and felt eyes on me. I looked around and saw Bianca gossiping. Her arctic blue eyes pierced my soul. I looked away quickly and looked back at Xavier. I could tell he noticed Bianca’s glare. “Did you guys have a thing?” I asked warily. He hesitated to answer but eventually he admitted, “Yeah, we broke up not long ago. I can’t really go into details.”

After that the rest of class was quiet, we worked on our assignments until we were dismissed. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around to see Enid’s beaming grin.

“You should come sit with me and Yoko at lunch, I also invited Wednesday.” She pointed behind her and I saw the same girl from earlier in all black standing with a black stare on her face.

“So you’re Wednesday? I’ve heard some things about you…I hope they aren’t true.” I shifted awkwardly.

“They most likely are.” She said with the same blank stare. I found it creepy but I thought I just had to know her better.

We walked to the quad and ate lunch. Enid talked a lot about her blog but then it got silent, “If you’re going to post about me, make the effort to spell my name correctly.” Wednesday commented. Enid looked away and scratched her head.

“I’m sorry...but I thought you didn’t have a phone?” Enid uttered with burning cheeks. She quickly thought of something else to keep to conversation going, “Have you guys heard about the murders happening? Sheriff Galpin is trying to pin it on one of us…just because we’re outcasts.”

"I have my ways." Wednesday’s eye lit up when she heard the word murder, “Tell me more about these murders.”

"Well, I went into town and overheard some people talking about it. They think someone from Nevermore did it." Enid explained. The rest of the table stared at Wednesday. She was already known for being a murderer and somehow she got no charges against her. "They said that there were a bunch of body parts missing. Freaky af."

"That's something I would like to see." Wednesday expressed flatly.

“Yeah…um can we change the subject? What are you guys planning on doing at the Harvest Festival this weekend? There’s going to be so many fun rides and food stands!” Enid giggled.

“I don’t do fun but Tyler is helping me with something.” Wednesday said

Enid looked disappointed, “Tyler Galpin? The sheriff's son? You should stay away, he’s a dickhead.”

“I can take care of myself.”

The rest of lunch went by quickly. I thought of chilling with Xavier at the festival since he seemed kind earlier but he definitely was way too smart for me. Maybe I would hang out with Enid and Yoko and get to know them better. I just needed to fit in…and also avoid being the next victim of whoever was out there…and Wednesday.
