[Podfic] The Days When You Grind to a Crawl

If you asked most brothers who know Waxer, they'd tell you that he takes things in stride and he's always there for others—especially Boil—to lean on. But most brothers who know Waxer don't know Waxer, and they don't know that he needs Boil to hold him together just as much as Boil needs him.

This is a podfic of one of my favorite interludes in cacOdaemonia's RCAU, and the one that inspired me to record again for the first time in over five years. You, unfortunately, will not be able to find my original records, as my co-reader removed them from the site years ago.
I will say that this recording is not perfect, and I don't strive for perfection. All narration mistakes and flubs are mine and mine alone.
Please heed the warnings in the tags, this fic gets dark, although in the greater scope of the AU, not incredibly dark.
Thanks again to the wonderful cac0, who gives blanket permission for fanworks of AUs and works, and gives amazing contributions to the overall SWTCW fandom.

The end of a glorious snippet of this universe! I had a lot of fun recording this and definitely plan to record more of the universe in the future - suggestions are welcome in the comments, but I am a little nervous about recording smut, not adverse, just nervous.
Some of my own production notes on this include that I believe I recorded this just a hair too fast, and will be keeping that in mind for future recordings. I was also able to knock the recording time down by just doing this in one take that I could then go back and edit, which saved a lot on time.

Ahhhh ja;wtjrtj sorry my brain is kind of short-circuiting! It's so strange bot so cool to hear someone reading this?? Listening to it felt like a whole different experience from reading it, and I really loved the way you spoke the dialog! 🥺🧡 I know there's not a ton of it in this chapter, but the next one has a lot more, so I'm excited to feast my ears on that XD
And omg, 5 hours?? :O I mean, it makes sense, given how much work must go into recording and editing, but I'm just honored that you'd want to spend that much time on creating art based on my fic. ; ^ ; <333

I just had to pop in and say thank you so much for this podfic! I struggle to read a lot of the times and having Caco’s wonderful story read allowed has really helped. Love the way you read the dialogue and the story as a whole!

  I have good news, the next chapter should be up later tonight. Thank you so much for allowing fanworks of yours! Ive enjoyed this series for a long time, and have been wanting to record forever - so its been a lot of fun to do this fic in particular.
  I will say Im not brave enough (yet) to record smut or smut scenes, but I have my eye on that adventure fic... but 80000+ words seems really intimidating at the moment, so Ill probably stick to the shorter one offs for the time being.

    Eeee, I just saw it in my inbox!!! I'm so glad you enjoyed recording it and that it wasn't a slog or something 🥺 I've never made audio recordings, so it's a mystery to me, haha.
    Pff I don't blame you! Doing the dialog during smut seems like it would be, uh... an experience XD Just publishing my first several smut fics, I was like "Do not perceive me" so I can't imagine reading things out loud. And omg yeah, those long fics... I can't even imagine how much work those would take to podfic O_o;;;

Ahhhhhhh my heart!!! T^T The way you read the dialog KILLS me lhkfglsafhgslfkhg I'm having more feels than I got from writing it *gross sobbing*
I need to listen to it again (I kept getting interrupted), but I remember going :O from the way you read the italicized 'pat' of the blood drop landing. So many awesome little details!!
Seriously, this is just so cool and I don't know how to properly comment on podfics, but basically my brain is just AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Okay, I have to go walk my dogs, but I'm definitely listening again when I come back!

  Im so glad you liked it! I already have a list of some other short fics in the series I want to record, and I think for maximum angst purposes I will record Exhumation next.
  I also think dropping Boils voice was a good choice here, not just for distinction in dialogue but I always imagined he talked a hair deeper and more country-bumpkin almost than Waxer - as he tends to use contractions and drops the endings on words more often.
  I have some reading to catch up on in the RCAU as well, and Will You Walk With Me is looking to be my next major project after I get a bit more streamlined with my recording process.

I meant to mention it, and it was something I noticed even in chapter 1 but was too *head exploding running in circles* to remember XD;;; Haha it's so cool that the way I write his dialog gave you that impression, because that's how I imagine his voice, too! Nothing drastic, of course, but yeah, in my head, he tends to speak a little more... lazily? idk if that's the right word, but especially when he's relaxed or teasing, I always imagine just a hint of a drawl, haha. And I love how you made his voice just a touch lower/gruffer 🥺🧡
    ahforiuhgwlrghiwlr WYWWM is so long omgggg, and it's my baby. My pride and joy. :' ) I'd probably combust just listening to one chapter of it!! I'm so incredibly honored that you even wanted to podfic one of my fics, though, so like, yes I would LOVE to hear more but also don't feel any pressure. <333333
    Oh and I wanted to point out, since I have done this before, too - your end notes for chapter 1 ended up as end notes for the fic as a while after you added chapter 2.

Listening for the second time, and the way you read this line ends me 😭😭😭 -- "Wax, please," he says softly. "You're hurt. Lemme take you to medbay, get you patched up, okay? Please?"
Pfff, I got so caught up in listening again that I forgot to make note of particular things. ಠ-ಠ But I have many feels!!
