Chapter Text
The PZE entrants walked behind the two hosts, Dragana and Jovan, as they lead them through the arena. As they walked into the hallway leading to the greenroom, the door locked behind them. And then the second door locked. And the third door. And the fourth. It seemed to never end. This was the state of the art security system that Serbia's government had been bragging about. Because this place hadn't been built as an arena at all, but as a giant shelter. This year, instead of hosting their Eurovision selection inside an actual arena, Serbia were holding the show in a much more interesting location, inside their biggest nuclear bomb shelter. The entrants just hoped this wasn't an omen of things to come. And after the contest was over, this place would of course go back to it's original purpose. Being the biggest nuclear fallout shelter, not only in all of Serbia, but throughout all of the Balkans. Hosting the contest here was just a test run. To ensure that the shelter actually worked.
"Is... all of that really necessary?" Zorja asked.
"Why of course!" Jovan said, "If anything bad happened such as a nuclear strike, I mean, let's hope it doesn't happen but if it does, then this place will be completely safe!"
"And who will be in this shelter if such a thing happened?" Konstrakta said, "Certainly not normal people. Politicians and the ultra-rich, I'm guessing?"
The hosts ignored Konstrakta's question and they all kept walking.
"Okay, sure, just pretend I didn't say anything," Konstrakta said. They ignored that too.
They walked through the long hallway and eventually got to where they were headed. The greenroom. They entrants heard another clicking sound behind them. Yet more locks. The two hosts didn't say anything and just sat down on chairs in the greenroom, motioning for everyone else to sit down too. That's when they heard more clicking of doors locking. The green room was arificially lit, of course, they were no windows here. It was almost felt like a prison, rather than somewhere that they could feel safe.
"No one will nuke Serbia," Angellina said, "This is silly."
No one said anything. Maybe a few months ago that had been true, but now, no one knew what would happen next.
