Excavating Planet T-900

Summary:

I am Alania Simpart. I am 47 years old, Female. I was a reconnoiter-specialist for Atlas Enterprise, meaning I survey and examine geological findings of a planet recently discovered to see if there's potential for resource excavation. Planet T-900 was assigned to me, and it was supposed to be uninhabited. I was wrong. Atlas was wrong.

These are my log entries dating the events that took place for the last 46 cycles. This is my first entry, and I was only 24 years old at the time...

Log Demagogue-Era 83:06:21

----22:10:05

A rigon has passed since my departure from the mining planet Zanov tasked with a mission to explore planet T-900 for the possibility and potentiality of any rare resource extraction.

Three cycles ago, a tracking probe from Atlas Enterprises discovered a planet in the far sectors of the Vigil-9 Galaxy that matched Earth’s atmospheric conditions predating the quaternary period of the Cenozoic Era—meaning its geological habitat matches that when humanity was still evolving from ape to man.

Atlas Enterprises decided to send me, a reconnoiter-specialist to determine if the planet is viable for eco-friendly extractions.

The Albatross-828 still has to travel 400 atomic units to reach planet T-900.  I will update the next entry of this log upon arrival.  For now, I must go back to cryo-sleep for another three nargons.

Log Demagogue-Era 83:09:16

----08:32:15

Finally made it to planet T-900.  Conveniently, the time format matches the rising morning of the designated location.  AI-CASEY suggests that it might be the early spring, especially with the temperature outside being 49 degrees Fahrenheit.  It makes sense since we are located at a latitude of 53 degrees.  It’s like living in London of UK.

For the next hour, I will be gearing up with equipment to explore a radius of two miles from my location to find a potential spot for building the foundations for homebase operations.  Flatlands at a high altitude would be preferable, but I will make do with what’s available in my survey.

I will also be carrying weapons to combat the local wildlife and shields for any surprises.  As primitive and base as these creatures would be, all space explorers have learned that mother nature can be so unforgiving, and no amount of tech-equipment can overpower her when she decides to feed you to a thresher maw.

I will be wearing my helmet for safety reasons and gradually lessen the use of my oxygen tank.  Despite the similarities of the atmospheric air between T-900 and Earth-0, one must never be too careful for the potential of an environmental sickness.  Viruses and harmful bacteria maybe more potent here than Earth-0.

AI-CASEY will continue to monitor scans and the ship.

This log will not be daily since exploration within the two-mile radius may take several malton units for me to prepare a report.

Until then, signing off.

Just as I predicted.

T-900 is rich of so many unique and similar resources.  It is as if it’s Earth, but God decided to add more salt and pepper to it.  There are herbal plants that are extremely unique to the environment, and there’s yet a match of it on the Atlas Database, meaning that it’s not just unique, but undiscovered.

There are coincidences where the same plant would grow in entirely different planets, just because the conditions for its growth were matched correctly—although, there’s always at least a strand or two different.

The only thing that has me confused is the wild tuberous root I found has the same chromosomes as the solanum tuberosum aka the russet potato.  It’s like someone from Earth had planted these here, but that’s not possible.  This root grew in the wild.  Plus, several probes were sent to this planet to ensure that it wasn’t inhabited by intelligent species.  The reports came back null.

There were also dandelions, Canada thistles, and crabgrass—common weeds of different region, and yet they’re growing here.

Bizarre, truly.  I’m currently still updating the list and Casey is still analyzing the rest of the plants.  I will finish the report within the next week or so, as long as I focus.  There’s just so much in this world for me to explore.  I suspect I’ll be here for many cycles.

That’s it for now.  Logging off.

Abort.  Abort.  Abort.  Abort.

T-900 is inhabited by intelligent species.  I repeat, it is inhabited by intelligent species.  Atlas Enterprises made a mistake.

At Lat Long Coordinates #####” N and #####” W, I’ve encountered indigenous primitives during my data-gathering trip.  There were three of them, standing over 6-7 feet, wielding medieval weapons like swords and giant axes made of iron and steel.  They wore hide, fur, and armor.  They spoke of a language I could not understand, but Casey determined their hormonal levels to be of fright, confusion, and wary.  Understandable.  I was in my space-gear so I must look like an invader.

Nevertheless, it turned into a skirmish and I had to use stasis grenade to stun them.  My pistol would have been enough to kill them all, but that is not my aim.  I have no intentions of murdering homo sapiens.

Yes.  The creatures I faced are without a doubt of human origins.

I fled back to the Albatross-828 on my speeder and turned on the camouflage-systems of the ship.

Time of first encounter was at around 13:45, and I’ve already sent a report to Atlas Enterprise in the hopes that the mission can be aborted.  With the speed of the emergency mail cartridge, my report will reach headquarters in about a nargon.  That means I won’t hear back from them for about a rigon or two.

So, for now, I was stuck here.  I’ll be halting operations of homebase-building, but I will continue the data-gathering the surrounding area.  T-900 may become a protected planet instead.

Also, I’ll be monitoring where the activities of the primitive humans from afar, if possible, with null interaction.  I cannot risk accidentally advancing their eras due to the exposure of my equipment.  Or worse.  Them creating a God out of me, if they are religious.  No Contact is my top priority.

Gods.  I hope my report reaches Corporate soon.

Chapter 2: Avvar & Dalish

Chapter Text

Log Demagogue-Era 83:10:05

----23:01:52

It’s been 10 malton units since my first contact with the inhabitants of T-900.

I’ve sent droid-cams the following day and tracked down the indigenous men to a village by a lake.  It is a small village, but it’s not the only one.  There were two more villages in the area, divided but sharing the location and its resources.  I knew they were of different cultures because of the colors, flags, and paintings of large stone tablets.  They’re far enough from each other that it would take an hour to walk, but close enough that they can trade.  Each village had an average of fifty people, more or less.  I wonder if this was done so that the chances of interbreeding were low.  Were they even aware of that?

I’ve decided to name these villages based on their unique symbolisms: Bear-Hold, Hart-Hold, and Serpent-Hold.

The three men that attacked me were from Bear-Hold, and after finding them, they looked relatively well; they didn’t look too hurt.  I’ve sent more mini-droid cams to study Bear-Hold first, and AI-Casey started analyzing their language so that I could also learn to speak it.  It may take a whole nargon, or less, for it to finish the study, but that’s time it can spare.  Corporate might be more interested in the culture rather than the resources... Maybe.

On second thought, I should probably put more effort into the geological studies of T-900 starting tomorrow.

For now, I’ve been learning so much from these people and their customs.  They partake in challenges and contests to solve their problems, and each contest seemed fair to both opponents.  The challenges are decided by the leader of the hold, and they seem to know what’s best for both to make it a fair match.

What has me perplexed is the few distinctive individuals of Bear-Hold that would pray to the statues of their Gods, and then after, they would emit a glow of light that enveloped their bodies, but only for a moment.

How bizarre.  It’s like watching something out of the Tolkien series.

Should I study more on that mystery?  Or continue the tasks of the job that’s paying my bills back on Earth-0?

...Fuck.

Log Demagogue-Era 83:10:09

----14:12:26

This is a little early for a log entry, but I need to date this: AI-Casey had finished analyzing the language much faster than I expected.

The language spoken has elements of Sanskrit, Anglo-Saxon, and mostly Old Norse.  That is not normal.  Most species that were discovered and protected under the unspoken clause of Non-Contact Primitives all had different roots of language.  Sophisticated language deciphers can usually take about a month up to a year to fully break down words and figure out the grammar all through sounds, gestures, and scans.  Then, the program would give it a temporary serial number attached to the planet’s name.

AI-Casey labelled this language as a new listed dialect for North Germanic.

Something...is not right.

Are these people possibly descendants from Earth-0?

This is crazy.

Currently, I’m compiling my report.  I wanted to send more information to Corporate, but went against it.  I needed to wait for their response first of aborting the mission.  Plus, it’ll give me time to flesh out my report and hopefully get T-900 under the No-Contact Clause.

Until then, I’m still studying the samples.  Something is strange about some of these herbs that are omitting unforeseen electromagnetic wavelengths.

This planet is strange.

I am ashamed.  More than a nargon has passed, and I had not updated my entry!  F*$%!

...Why am I censoring curse words?

Whatever.

Important news.  Bear-hold, Hart-Hold, and Serpent-hold—they’re all known as the Avvar people.  How had I found out?  Well, I had my suspicions when they kept saying that it is the ‘Avvar way’, or something like that.  However, my notions were only confirmed true when another group type of indigenous inhabitants had approached a couple of Hart-Hold’s Avvar Hunters.

Yesterday, two Avvar Hunters from Hart-Hold were out on a hunt that morning.  I had a droid-cam following them, and to my surprise, they crossed path with a specie that seemed human but not.

These people were of a lighter build, shorter even.  The Avvar were giants, but these people were average heights of humanity, except they weren’t humans at all.  Their ears were long and pointy.

These people are elves.

...Perhaps I had fallen into the world of Tolkien series.  Surely, I must have.

When I had the video at full screen, it seemed like the two different groups were about to fight.  They had their bows aimed at each other and they had their swords drawn, but then the oldest of the elves spoke to one of them.  They introduced themselves and spoke about their purposes on why they’re here.  The elves, which the Avvar called Dalish, told them they were hunting as well.

The situation quickly diffused as they lowered their weapons.  The Avvar told them they’re welcomed to hunt, but to be more careful on where they point their weapons, and informed them there are three Avvar holds here.  The elves also said they made camp, and won’t stay long.  They just needed to gather supplies.

So long as they don’t bother each other, then it’s fine.

Wow... elves versus humans.  Thankfully, it ended peacefully.

I sent cam-droids immediately after the elves filled with excitement as I am about to study another different culture.  Those ears had to be real.  I can’t believe it.  Did evolution make those ears grow?  If so, why?  What is the purpose of those ears?  To hear better?  With the way how it angles, there’s a possibility that it’s for better hearing.

Today, I took a day off and just watched the people at the Dalish camp.  Their face tattoos are quite phenomenal.  How do they glow like that?

That’s all I need to write.  Whatever I have to say, it’s being compiled on my notes.

I will do better on updating my log entries more frequently.
