Chapter Text

“Ah shit!”
A very clear voice was coming from the alley
It wasn’t loud but you could definitely hear it
Toya thought it was at least loud enough to cause concern
“I’ll be right back guys”
“Don’t take too long Toya!”
An and Nene both shot each other a look of concern before An waved to Toya as he walked away

It was dark
The group just got off of work and An thought they should celebrate another successful case
He shouldn’t be doing this and he knows it
He just got off of a case, if anyone knew he was investigating something right now he would get scolded by An and Kohane then by Ken
But he was too intrigued not to do it

“I told you I don’t know where he is!”
“Now that’s not what you said last week!”
I cheerful girls voice was heard
“That’s because I thought-“
“Ah buh buh! You said you had someone tracking him, what happened?”
A man’s voice was heard, it wasn’t an old sounding guy he sounded quite young actually
“I told you he disappeared!”
“Hmm.. Akito, what do you think?”
“He seems to be telling the truth…”
Two voices spoke that time
One was a different girl and the other was a guy with a pretty raspy voice

Toya inched closer to the voices
“I-I told you I have no idea where Harumichi is!”
Toya put a hand over his mouth to prevent him from making a sound
He knew his dad had information people wanted but god a guy being held presumably at gun point seemed like a lot
“Hmm.. what do we do with him now?”
“Well he’s no longer of use to us..”
“We aren’t killing another person Ena!”
“And why the hell not!?”

Toya knew he had to do something
He had his gun, he kept it most of the time, especially when it was late
“N-no please!”
“We have no choice! Now- wait a sec did you guys hear something?”
“Probably just your imagination Kasa.. just take him out”
“Nobody move!”
“Told ya I heard something!”

Toya had his gun pointed at the group
“Not another inch or this guy’s as good as gone”
‘God damnit… I should call An..’
“What’s the choice officer?”
Now he really has no choice but to do nothing
He put the gun away and put his hands up
“I wanna know why you’re looking for Harumichi Aoyagi”
“Are you stupid? That dude has information we need”
“Alright I-“
“HEY TOYA WHERE ARE YOU?!”
‘Shit…’

Toya whipped his head around to see An running up to him
“Where have you be- oh no..”
“An Shiraishi..”
“Akito Shinonome…”
“Long time no see!” One of the guys came walking over, he had a hood on, that’s all Toya could see in the dark
“What are you doing out here? I thought the Neon Phoenixes ran away to-“
“We never left An, we’ve just been in the shadows”
“Hold on hold on Toya why were you out here?! You remember what happened last time you didn’t take a break”
“I heard something.. it’s a good thing I did do something!”

“Okay we’re done here. Emu, Tsukasa, you know what to do”
“You got it Akito!”
Akito started walking away while a short haired girl grabbed person the group was threatening
“Ehhhhhh? You guys aren’t gonna fight back?” The pink haired girl pulled out a stick which turned into a fucking giant hammer, “oh well, it’s showtime!”
The blonde one pulled a gun out and flashes of yellow started appearing
“Toya you go follow the Shinonomes!” An pulled a sword out of basically nowhere, “we’ll handle these two!”
Toya nodded and started running down the alley
“He’s following us isn’t he lil bro?”
“Oh totally, I’ll handle him you go ahead”
“Alright. You be quick and maybe we won’t kill you”
“Yes ma’am!”

The brunette ran away with the hostage alongside her
“So you’re one of Ken’s little workers. Toya right?”
Toya had his gun pointed straight at the ginger
He wouldn’t admit it but he was a bit scared, even if he’s done this a lot, chasing criminals is a bit scary
“We can talk this over right?”
“No!”
“Okay okay you got me there let me just..”
Akito pulled a gun out and immediately shot Toya in his left arm
Toya immediately dropped the gun and moved his right hand to his shoulder
“Think I didn’t recognize you? The youngest Aoyagi son?”
“Holy shit… dude how did-“
“We’re looking for your dad and you think we didn’t know who his sons were? Don’t make me laugh. Now where’s your dad?”
“I haven’t talked to him in years I have no clue where he is”
“Is that so?” Akito walked up to him and held his gun up to Toya’s head. Toya screwed his eyes shut, “in that case say go-“
A flash of green knocked a the gun out of Akito’s hand

Nene
Toya almost forgot how good of a sniper she is
Toya looked up to see Nene on a rooftop with her shotgun
“Toya run!”
He let go of his arm and started running the way he came while Akito was still stunned from the bullet
“AN! LET'S GO HURRY UP!”
Toya’s left arm started to feel extremely weak
He didn’t look at it, he didn’t want to know what it looked like
“TOYA!? WHAT-“
“LETS GO!”
An looked at him, nodded and started running out of the alley
“Awwwwe leaving so soon?”
Nene shot again at the two
“Nene let’s go!”

The two got out of the alley before Nene came down from the building
“WHAT WERE YOU THINKING TOYA!? AND YOUR ARM WHAT THE HELL DID YOU GET SHOT WITH?!”
“I’m not sure… Akito shot m-“
“AKITO DID IT?! Oh god we gotta take you to Kamishiro for this shit!”
“Wait, it's that bad that Rui has to do something about it?”
“Yeah Akito has a- Toya you good you look really pale!”
“I feel a little tired maybe a bit dizzy but I-“
Toya started wobbling, almost falling down
“Ah shit! Nene call Kamishiro right now!”
Nene nodded and pulled out her phone
An went to Toya’s side and put an arm around his shoulder, “Toya sit down alright?”
“Okay..”

Toya was now sitting with his back against a building
Nene was on the phone with Rui and An was inspecting his arms
An sighed and looked Toya dead in the eyes, “You have to be careful with Akito. His gun is loaded with something weird, it’s pretty deadly so be careful alright?”
“Alright”
After a few minutes a truck pulled up to where the three were and the passenger side window rolled down
“Get it bitches!”
It was Rui’s roommate, Mizuki
They were wearing these pink sunglasses and pulled them down
“HOLY FUCKING SHIT DUDE WHAT’S UP WITH YOUR ARM?!”
“Mizuki! Wait, did you guys run into The Neon Phoenixes?”
“Yup..”
“Alright get in”

“We have to kill him! Or at least get some information out of him”
“Why do you care about him so much, Akito?”
Tsukasa was draped over the couch, Emu was sitting on the floor, Ena was currently tying their hostage up and Akito was pacing around the living room
“Seriously! You picked his gun up and now you’re obsessing over him”
“Perhaps Shinonome fell in love!”
“NO!”
“Why are you so defensive?”
“Now you guys are just messing with me! Listen, he's Harumichi’s son, he has to know where he is!”
“He said he hasn’t contacted him in years though”
“Shut it Tsukasa!”
“Damn…”

Akito sat on the floor and ran a hand through his hair
“Listen bro if it makes you feel better we can track him down alright?”
“Okay okay… thanks En”
“No problem Kito!”
“Don’t call me that..”
“YOU CALL ME EN ALL THE TIME!”
“That’s different”
“HOW!?”

The 5 were now sitting in Rui and Mizuki’s living room
Rui was carefully looking at Toya’s arm
Speaking of Toya he was out cold
He fell asleep in the car and had to be carried out by Rui
“Yeah we have to amputate it..”
“Why?”
“Whatever he was shot with us corrosive, so either we let it spread through his body and it destroys him, or we have to amputate his arm”
“So he just won’t have an arm!?”
“No! I’ve been working on something and I think Toya would be the perfect person to test it on!”
“Don’t tell me it’s a fucking robot arm..”
“I wouldn’t word it like that but yes, yes it is”

“Are you crazy!?”
“Do you want him to die?”
“NO! But Toya isn’t even awake, he can't agree to this shit!”
“Trust me, he probably will. He probably doesn’t want to die yet”
“Fair..”
“So what do we do while we wait for him to wake up?”
“You guys wanna look at the arm?”
“Sure”
“Alright come on!”

Chapter Text

It’s been a week since the encounter in the alley
They weren’t able to do it any sooner because Ken had someone fly in to do the amputation

“Good morning Toya! Everything went well. Don’t work yourself too much alright?”
“Alright thank you”
“I mean we kind of had to do it or else you would have died”
“Right..”
The agency had amazing doctors
Well Ken hired an amazing doctor to make sure one of the best workers he has doesn’t die
“Toya! I wanna see something hold on”
Rui came running into the room then to Toya
“Kamishiro please refrain from running in here like that!”
“My apologies! But I need to see if this thing works! It won’t hurt him in any way so it should be fine”
“Alright, I still have to supervise though”
“Okay. Toya, can you hold your left arm out for me?”

Toya did as Rui said
This is actually his first time looking at it
Or at least the robotic arm
It was black but there were a lot of blue accents on it
“Can you try bending it?”
Rui looked nervous because if this didn’t work he didn’t know what to do
Luckily it did
“Oh thank god.. Okay so this thing is basically indestructible but don’t go getting hit with corrosive material again because that might break it”
“Alright, thank you again Rui”
“No problem! I needed someone to test it anyway”
Right.. it was a test
“That’s all I needed to see so I’ll be on my way now, we’ll see you in 2 days Toya!”
‘Right.. they need to monitor my arm to make sure it doesn’t start bleeding randomly or something’

Rui waved to Toya who waved back with specifically his left arm
It doesn’t feel any different besides the fact it just feels a bit heavier
‘Well this is gonna be fun’

“Yo Akito guess what!”
Tsukasa came running into the room
“What do you want?”
“You know that guy we ran into last week? The one you keep obsessing about?”
“Yeah so what?”
“Dude got his arm cut off, now he’s like part robot or something!”
“And why is this important?”
“I thought you needed more information on him”
“I… god dammit you’re right..”
“I always am. Also here”
Tsukasa threw a folder on Akito’s desk

“What is this?”
“Oh nothing just some information on the Aoyagi family”
“Where did you get this?!”
“Snuck into the agency Toya works at”
“WHEN!?”
“30 minutes ago”
“Tsukasa you- whatever thanks”
“You’re welcome. Now I have to go see what Emu is doing to that guy Ena tied up”
“The hostage?”
“Yup. If we’re lucky he doesn’t have glitter all over him”
Tsukasa walked out of the room leaving Akito and his thoughts
He picked the folder up and went through it
One of the first things he noticed was a family
He only knew because of the fact that a) Toya still looked like a child and b) the mother was still there
She mysteriously disappeared a few years ago
Apparently only the family knows what happened to her but they refuse to say
Most people say she’s dead but no one really knows

‘Not important Akito, focus on Harumichi and Toya’
For the most part he knew most of the stuff in the folder but one thing was a surprise to him
It was a little book that Toya apparently wrote in while he was little
It contains the amount of times his father would hurt anyone in the family
It was almost hard for him to read it, considering his mother and Toya were the most frequent names
He closed the book and put it on his desk, he’ll deal with it later
The next thing he saw was a list of places
All of them were crossed out except for three

A nearby apartment complex
A café
And Ken’s agency

‘Now that’s a lead’
He put the paper on a board and went to walk out of the room before looking back at the book
Now he has an idea
He picked it up and went into the living room when Ena was braiding Emu’s hair
“Hey where are you going Akito?”
“To pick something up,” he picked up a box that was by the kitchen, “I’ll be back”

Toya was just sitting in the infirmary, he didn’t have much to do so he was just sitting on the bed
It was late so the doctor lady left to go back to wherever she was staying
So for now it was just Toya
Until it wasn’t just him
He heard a knock so he assumed it was from the door so he got up to check
No one
He heard the knock again so he turned around
There was someone at the window
He mentally jumped before he slowly walked towards the window before he opened it
“Hel-“
“Shush”
‘Who the hell?’
“Can I come in?”
“Who are you?”
“Don’t recognize me? I’m hurt Toya”
“Akito? What do you want?”
“To give you this,” the ginger climbed into the room through the window and handed Toya a box

“Okay okay wait, first of all how did you know where I was?”
“That’s classified. Open the box”
“Okay… umm”
So he opened it and saw the gun that he left in the alley and a small book
“What is this?”
“I thought you would recognize it”
“Wait a sec.. how did you find this?”
“Also classified. You sure you don’t know where he is?”
“Yes I’m sure we haven’t been in contact for 4 years”
“Okay then… let’s just,” he pulled something out, Toya couldn’t see what it was but he got hit in the head then passed out
“Sorry about that!”

Akito looked down at the person on the floor
“Well shit I didn’t think this through”
He heard someone walking outside
‘Ken must still be here..’
“Toya are you okay?”
‘FUUUUUUCK’
Akito quickly picked up the guy on the floor and threw him over his shoulder before jumping out of the window
‘I really didn’t think this through’

“How long has Akito been out?”
“Like 30 minutes”
“What is he picking up?”
“He didn’t say but he left with a box”
“He may not be back for a while so you guys wanna watch a movie?”
“Tsukasa you have stupid ideas. I’m in”
“Yeah! We can watch-“
A knock
“TOOK YA LONG ENOUGH!”
Ena got up to go open the door and saw her brother with an unconscious guy on his shoulder
“Dude.. what the fuck?”
“Okay listen I can explain-“
“Is that Toya!?”
“Yes now let me i-“
“I’ll go get the tape”
“Thanks En”

Ena went running into the other room while Akito walked inside
“You did not kidnap him”
“I did now Emu, can you get me a chair?”
“Oooo okay!”
Emu got up and ran over somewhere and came back with a chair
No one knows where she gets this stuff from she just does
Ena came back at the same time Emu did
“Okay hurry up before he wakes up”
“Okay!”

The last thing Toya remembered was the book from his childhood
Now he has no clue where he is
He opened his eyes and saw a living room but no one was there
He tried talking but guess what?
Yeah there’s tape over his mouth
He’s also taped to a chair
“Is he awake?”
“I think so.. Toya?”
“Mmaph?”
“Right tape.. okay I’m gonna take it off don’t scream”
He saw a brunette girl walk in front of him and rip the piece of tape off his mouth
It hurt but he was also scared to make a sound

“Akito, he’s all yours now”
‘Oh right..’
“Okay, you guys can leave now,” Akito pulled up a chair and sat in front of Toya
“Wait, we have to leave?”
“Yeah.. sorry Emu”
“Oh.. okay”
The other three left the room leaving a tied up Toya and Akito sitting in front of him
“So-“
“Why am I here?”
“Calm down dude, I’m asking the questions”
“Fine..”

“Okay first off, what was that book about?”
“It was a log that I kept when I was little for every time my father hit one of us. I don’t remember why I started keeping a log I guess I just wanted to see who he hated the most”
“Okay.. when was the last time you saw Harumichi?”
“When I was 18 before I moved out”
“Okay.. do you know what this paper is?”
Akito pulled out the piece of paper with the locations on it
“Never seen it in my life. But it look likes my father’s handwriting”
“Alright..”
“Is that all?”
“No.. what happened to you mom?”
Toya gasped and looked at the ginger in front of him
“W-why do you want to know?”
“It was just a question. And I need to get as much information about your family as possible”
“She was killed.. In front of my family’s eyes..”
“Oh… I’m so sorry..”
“It’s fine.. I was like 12 so it’s whatever now..”
“Damn.. that’s horrible.. I don’t really know how to react”
“Why do you care so much?”
“Please, I’m a criminal but I’m not heartless..”
“Ah.. if you’re done now I have a question for you”

Akito was a little confused but went with it anyway
“Alright, shoot”
“What information is so important that you need to track down my father and kidnap me?”

Chapter Text

Akito scoffed at the question
“Listen, I hate my father as much as the next person…”
“I get it.. he has information about me and my sister’s parents.. We never knew them. They abandoned us when we were little and apparently they worked for him so ya know.. I just kinda wanted to know who they were”
“Oh..”
“Yeah.. Tsukasa and Emu need something from him but that’s why I’m doing it”
“That seems really extreme… I still don’t understand why you had to kidnap me”
“It’s funnier this way. Also I didn’t think you’d be willing to answer what I would ask you”
“Well I answered them. Can you let me go now?”
“Sorry, I can't exactly do that! You’re the only connection we have to Harumichi, we kinda need you. Also why do you cover your eye with your hair?”
“Hides my birthmark so I feel more detached from my family”

The room felt more tense now
The two were just staring at each other
“Well it’s getting late… I think you should probably go to bed Toya”
“And why is that?”
“You just look tired. Makeup can’t cover those eyebags dude,” Akito got up and walked directly in front of Toya and kneeled down so there faces were at the same level
“Ah one more thing, this place is soundproof. No matter what you do, unless we let you out of here there’s no way anyone will find you. Sleep well!”
“Wait wait wait so I’m just supposed to sit here?”
“Yeah kinda. Have you never been kidnapped before?”
“No!”
“Oh well,” Akito got up and walked out of the room

‘Well shit”
Toya sat there for what felt like hours
It was really only 5 minutes but being tied up in a chair with nothing to do probably makes time feel slower
Ena walked into the living room with a blanket in her hands
“Hey this is for you,” she draped the blanket over his shoulders and sat in the chair i front of him
“Oh.. thank you”
“No problem. I’m Ena by the way. Akito probably said something about this place being soundproof and there’s no way you can get out and yada yada. It is soundproof yes, but seriously don’t be scared! We aren’t gonna let you die”
“I wasn’t worried about that. I’m more worried about the fact that I’m taped to a chair!”
“Oh yeah that.. It was a necessary precaution. You seem like the type to fight back”
“Ah.. Akito told me about why you’re looking for my father.. I’m sorry”
“For what? It’s not your fault our parents sucked”
“Oh..”
“Yeah.. Woah I almost didn’t notice your arm. That’s cool. Was it because of Akito’s gun?”
“Yeah”
“Damn.. well you should probably try to sleep now. It may be kinda uncomfortable at first but you’ll get used to it. Good night”
“Good night Ena”

“Good morning Toy- Toya?”
“Is everything alright?”
Ken and Rui came running into the room
“He’s gone!”
“What?!”
Ken walked over to a box on the floor then he saw the window
“I heard something last night…”
“Here Ken look at this”
Rui knelt down and picked a pipe up off of the ground
“Was he kidnapped?”
“Not sure… it makes the most sense”
“Aren’t there cameras in here?”
“Oh yeah come on Rui”

The two ran out of the infirmary, causing Ken to run into his daughter
“Oh hey Dad! Where are you two going in such a rush?”
“Toya’s missing, we’re going to check the cameras”
“Oh shit, I’ll come with you”
Now the three of them were racing through the agency to get to Ken’s office
Rui was quick to sit down at the desk where all of the computers where you can watch the cameras
“It was last night right?”
“No shit Sherlock!”
“An, no need to be rude”
“Sorry Dad!”
Rui was typing away on the computer
No one really knew how he did what he can do but they went along with it
“THERE!”
Rui went back on the tape and paused it at the clearest moment where you could see the two people in the room
It was someone wearing a hood
There were vibrant orange lights as well
“Ugh it’s Akito..”
“He’s still around?”
“Yeah! He’s the reason Toya lost his fucking arm!”
“Hmm….”

The three of them sat in silence while watching the tape
“Wait the arm! There’s a tracking device in it!”
“Why am I not surprised by that?”
“There’s a tracking device in your sword”
“WHAT!?”
“Here let me pull it up”
Rui pulled his laptop out of his bag and started typing again until a map came up
“There, that’s where he is right now”
“So what are we gonna do?”
“We’re gonna get him!”
“Obviously but when?”
“Get Nene and Kohane, I have an idea”

“Good morning Toya! How’d you sleep?”
Emu and Tsukasa were sitting in front of him with some sort of tablet and a plate of food
“As good as someone can sleep while taped to a chair”
“And that is?”
“Shitty but it was decent”
“Alright then!”
Toya didn’t realize but he had something hooked up to him
‘That must be what the tablet is for’
“May I ask a question?”
“Sure Toya go for it!”
“What’s the tablet and this wire on my neck for?”
“Can't tell you, wish we could though”
Truth is it was a lie detector they stole from someone in highschool and used it in interrogations ever since

“Are you hungry?”
“Not really no..”
The two looked at the tablet them back to Toya
“Damn okay.. Akito’s gonna be here in a second so just sit tight!”
“Actually I have a question”
“Ehh? Oh go ahead!”
“Why leave me tied up in a living room when there’s clearly other rooms in this place?”
The two looked at each other
“We’re not really sure.. that’s more of a question for the siblings.. actually maybe just Akito”
“Alright then.. Why are you guys looking for my father?”
“Well Ak-“
“Akito gave me his answer.. I wanna know why you’re doing it”

Tsukasa sighed and looked Toya in the eyes, “you really wanna know?”
“Yes that’s why I asked”
“He did something to my parents and sister years ago and I never forgave him for that.. he promised he’d help with my sister’s treatment but guess what? He didn’t ,leaving her sick in the hospital. Not to mention he crossed my family many times before..”
“Oh my..”
“As for me.. he maybe sorta kinda be responsible for my grandfather’s death”
“Emu.. you never told us that”
“It just makes me sad to think about it! I don’t like bringing it up”
“Oh..”
“I’m sorry about what my father has done to you.. I know it doesn’t mean much coming from his son but.. it’s something”
“Thank you Toya!!”
Emu jumped up and threw her arms around him
“Okay Emu calm down! Thank you though Toya.. it actually means a lot”

“Yo Emu, Tsukasa, can you-“
“Already on it”
“Bye bye Toya!”
“Huh?”
He tried to ask what was happening but he felt something hit his head and he was out like a light
Again
“Dude you hit him too hard!”
“Relax it’s not like it’s bleed- shit”
“Both of you are stupid. Emu go grab the first aid kit and an ice pack. Tsukasa, can you get him out of the chair?”
“Yeah”
Tsukasa grabbed a pair of scissors from a desk and started cutting the tape that was holding Toya
“Hey Akito.. normally you aren’t this nice with people we’ve kidnapped. Why is he so different?”
“No reason! It’s just.. he didn’t do anything wrong.. it kinda feels inhumane to treat him like a prisoner”
Tsukasa smirked at the younger and went on with cutting tape
Emu came running into the room with a first aid kit and a roll of bandages
“Here you go Akito!”
“Thanks.. actually can you put this in my room.. sorry I just didn’t know where I was exactly gonna go”
“Ooooh okay!”
Emu ran off again and Akito walked over to where Toya was

“I’ll take him from here Tsukasa.. thank you”
“No problem! I’m gonna go work on the outfits I was making now”
“Dude why do you insist on sewing us clothes that are gonna probably get destroyed anyway?”
“It’s fun.. anyway see you later”
“Bye Tsukasa”
Akito looked at Toya
Most of the tape was cut now it was just what was on his legs that was still holding him to the chair
Akito was now questioning basically everything
Like why he kept letting Toya get hit in the head or why he had Tsukasa hook him up to a lie detector
‘I must have been fucking drunk or something…’
Akito carefully went and cut the rest of the tape off and took of the wire hooking him up to the lie detector before he picked him up and draped him over his shoulder
He didn’t notice the blanket on the floor either
‘Ena must have brought it out for him’
Akito walked to his room then debated with himself about putting Toya in a chair on on his bed
He decided to put him on the chair while he was treating his head, then move him to his bed because he saw how hard he got hit so Akito decided he will probably be out for a while

After Akito set him down on the chair he noticed how messed up his hair was
Like his bangs were covering his entire face
He couldn’t help but laugh a little before fixing it to be in its normal position
‘Alright let’s get you cleaned up’

Chapter Text

Toya woke up in a new place
He’s no longer in a chair so it’s a personal win for him
He didn’t realize how much his head hurt but god was it bad
“Ugh…” Toya sat up reluctantly and moved a hand to where his head hurt
He noticed the bandage but didn’t think much of it
He started looking around the room until he noticed Akito sitting at a desk staring at a piece of paper
“Hmm? Oh Toya you’re up good. Sorry about having to knock you out again”
“It’s fine.. what are you looking at?”
“It’s something from a file about your family- why the fuck did I say that?”
“Heh.. wait is that the one from the agency? How did you get it?”
“It’s a… long story. Anyway this paper has some sort of address on it, I thought you might recognize it”

Akito handed the piece of paper to him
“Oh… this is where I grew up”
“Really?!”
“Yes.. I doubt he’s still there though”
“Damn.. and here I thought that it could actually help me”
“I’m sorry.. here can I see the file?”
“Oh yeah here,” Akito was really excited. He never thought he’d get someone to help him look for Harumichi, let alone his son
Toya was flipping through the folder until he landed on a piece of paper
It had a photo of his father an address he didn’t recognize and a whole list of other things
“Akito.. I found something”
“What is it?”
“An address I don’t recognize under my father’s photo”
“That’s something… here let me see the paper”
Toya handed the paper back to Akito who immediately pinned it to a board
“Say Akito, you’re really good at detective work.. where did you learn?”
“I used to work for Ken. How’d you think I knew An?”
“Really?”
“Yup. It’s a really long story”
“You’ll have to tell it to me some time”
“I could tell you no-“
“Akito! We have a situation!”

The two of them turned to the door to see Ena looking really panicked
“What is it!?”

Ena left the room leaving them alone again
“What were you saying again?”
“I was saying I could tell you now, if you want”
“If you’d like to tell me go ahead”
“Okay so there was this guy that worked at the agency, Arata Tono. He was a jerk but he was insanely talented at his job. He was dead set on being the best person in that agency that it drove him insane and everyone blamed me for it. No one knew what he was actually doing so they blamed me for pushing him so far. He jumped off a roof during a case and no one has seen him since. No body was found so there’s no way he dead but everyone says he is. I got blamed for him being ‘dead’ for pushing him to be the best person in the agency, so they kicked me out”
“Why were you blamed?”
“We were working partners.. worst mistake of my life”
“Oh… that’s terrible I’m sorry”
“Nah don’t be sorry for an-“

Akito was interrupted by the door slamming open and An walking inside
“Akito, what the hell do you think you’re doing to him?!”
“Nothing!”
“An he’s been nothing but nice since-“
“Since he kidnapped you?!”
“Well- Uhh.. yeah..”
“It’s not like I wanted to harm him at all! I didn’t even hurt him!”
“Then what’s with the bandage on his head?!”
“Tsukasa did that! I was the one who bandaged it up”
“I still don’t trust you with him! Dad, can you take Toya outside to the car?”
“I can walk perfectly fine An..”
“Wait Ken’s here!?”
“Yes, hello Akito”
“Hi Ken, long time so see”
“You two should not be so friendly after what he did!”
“I didn’t do shit!”
“Yes you did!”

The two of them kept yelling back and forth at each other
Toya zoned out from the noise
He was slightly panicked since it reminded him of home
“Toya”
“…”
“Toya!”

“TOYA!”
“Hmm? Oh sorry”
“It’s fine man. An was asking if you were okay”
“Yes I’m fine”

“Whatever! Toya we need to go back,, we have work to do”
“Actually I’d like to-“

“It’s just he’s looking for my father and-“
“HARUMICHI?!?! No you are not looking for him with a group of criminals! He’s been on our radar for months and now you decide to look for him with CRIMINALS!”
“They have good reasons An”

An looked at him dumbfounded
‘Is he serious right now!? We’ve been looking for him for so long”
“Toya no. We’re leaving. Now”
It sounded familiar

Toya’s eyes shot open and he started breathing heavily
“Shit sorry right your dad Uhh.. we need to go though”
“N-no… I’m not”
“TOYA!”
“WHO ARE YOU MY FUCKING DAD!? I THOUGHT YOU GUYS WERE DIFFERENT I REALLY DID!”
“Toya..”
Ken walked over to where Toya was sitting to try and calm him down
“Listen to me I know-“
“You guys don’t know shit obviously! Look at him he’s panicking”
“Akito don’t get involved”

Everyone started yelling at each other now
Toya’s had enough
“All of you stop! I’m just going, I'm gone!”
Toya stormed out of the room before a different door slammed shut, probably the front door
“What did you do An?”
“WHAT DID I DO!? WHAT DID YOU D-“
“Both of you, stop now. Toya stormed off because of you guys, now get along and go get him”
“But Dad-“
“No buts.. go”

An and Akito were walking in relative silence for most of the time before Akito broke the silence
“An why do you hate me so much?”
“You know what happened to Arata.. it’s your fault!”
“It literally isn’t though! I told you multiple times he did it to himself. And he isn’t dead, there's no way!”
“You and I both saw him jump!”
“Was there a body? NO!”
“Ugh you’re impossible!”
“You keep bringing it up! Ugh whatever we need to find Toya”
“Yeah.. we should have brought Kamishiro along, he has a tracking device in Toya’s arm”
“So that’s how you found us?”
“Yup”

They walked for around 10 more minutes before something strange happened
“An do you smell that?”
“Smell wh- smoke!?”
“Is something burning?”
“Come on!”
An started running in the direction of the smell, Akito quickly followed
People were running and screaming
And then they finally got the the source of the smell
It was an apartment complex burning down
Some people were running out still until one particular person came running out with a duffle bag, a pet carrier and a laptop

Toya stormed out of the building
“Wait Toya where are you going?”
“Home!”
He slammed the door behind him
He was just upset that the people he trusted were acting like his father
He wanted to go to the one place he felt safe
His apartment
With his cat Espresso

It wasn’t a long walk to the apartment complex so he got there relatively quickly
He opened the door and was immediately greeted by his blue eyed brown and black cat
“Hi Espresso”
Toya knelt down and started petting his cat
He immediately noted that her tail was up, so she must have been in a good mood
“I missed you too”
She started licking at his hand
A sign of affection
“Alright, come on I have some work to do”
Toya picked her up and walked over to his bed
The place was kinda small but Toya didn’t mind
It was more comforting to him to have everything be so close together since he grew up with everything and everyone being so distant

Something felt off to Toya though
He smelled something funny then he heard an alarm
“Oh shit!”
He started running on instinct
Shoving his cat into a pet carrier
Grabbing the bag from his closet and shoving anything you could into it
Before he left he quickly grabbed his laptop and charger before running as fast as he could down the hallway then down the stairs, almost falling a few times
Until he finally reached the main doors of the building and ran outside as quickly as possible
He couldn’t see much he just started running as far away from the building before he was stopped

“..TOYA!?”
An and Akito came over to him really panicked
“What are you guys doing here?”
“Ken sent us out to look for you, are you okay!?”
“I’m fine besides the fact that I don’t have a house!”
Toya was talking between breaths
“I’ll call my dad you should sit down Toya”
An quickly pulled out her phone to call Ken while Toya set the bag and the carrier down on the ground before he sat on the ground
Akito walked over to him and sat next to him
“You good?”
“Kinda.. just a little tired. My room was on the 9th floor so I ran all the way down here as fast as I could”
“Holy shit dude, yeah rest you must be tired”
Toya just sat there in silence for a while
“What’s in the carrier?”
“My cat Espresso. She was my main concern when the fire alarm went off”

An came and sat with them after she got off the phone
“My Dad’s gonna come pick us up, he’ll be here soon”
“Hey Toya, do you know where you’re gonna stay? I’m not bothered by you so you can stay with us it’s no problem”
“Dude you’re not staying with that ginger. Dad wouldn’t mind having you”
“I just… it’s a lot right now, at least give me a second to process this”
“Oh sorry..”
The three of them sat in silence
People were running all over the place and crying a news reporter got there after a minute
Actually multiple
“Hey Toya”
“Mhm..”
“Is your phone still at the agency?”
“Yeah.. didn’t exactly plan on getting kidnapped”
“Sorry”
“It’s fine”
“NO IT’S NOT FINE WHAT THE FUCK!?”
“An.. it’s fine. Come on Ken’s here”

The three of them stood up and walked over to the car
“Here Toya I’ll take your bag so it’s not so much to carry”
“Oh.. thanks Akito”
An scoffed at them
“Here Akito I’ll take it, you should probably go home now”
“Alright alright I get it you don’t like me, here take the bag. I’m going home now. Bye Toya”
“Goodbye Akito”
Akito waved to Toya and started walking away
“Finally I thought he’d never leave”
“Why are you so against him?”
“Because he caused the death of one of our best workers!”
“Arata?”
“How’d you know? It was a while before you joined”
“Akito told me.. and I don’t think it was his fault from what he told me”
“Oh not you too.. listen it had to have been his fault, they were partners after all and Arata strived to be better because of Akito!”
“That’s-“
“You weren’t there Toya! You just don’t get it”
“Alright.. come on let’s go”

“Akito! That’s why! And Toya is so set on the fact that he did nothing wrong!”
“Did you ever try getting Akito’s side of the story?”
“I have and it’s just bullshit!”
“An.. don’t you think you’re too harsh on Akito?”
“No, he caused someone’s death!”
“We didn’t find a bod-“
“Not you too Dad..”
“I’m just saying An”
“Whatever… Hey Toya! Do you know where you’re gonna stay?”
“I’m not sure yet.. I was gonna stay with you guys then I remember Espresso doesn’t really like you and you don’t like her”
“Right your cat…”
“You can stay with me and Mizuki. We have the extra room from when Nene moved out and we have a cat already!”
“That would be nice”

Rui pulled out his phone and went to text Mizuki about the possibility of Toya staying with them
“Wait Nene, why did you move out anyway?”
“Because Rui and Mizuki would show up after going to a party every Sunday and play JustDance at 5 in the morning!”
“It wasn’t every Sunday..”
“YES IT WAS!”
The two started arguing about JustDance for some reason now
“If both of you don’t stop I will turn this car around and force both of you to talk to Tsukasa”
“NO!”
“What about Tsukasa?”
“They were friends in high school! And someone was his high school sweetheart~!”
“An I will throw you out of this car!”
“You dated him Rui?”
“Technically they never broke up because Tsukasa mysteriously disappeared after high school”
“Oh wow…”
“Nene I’m going to tear your eyelashes off”

“LET ME SEE YOUR CAT!”
Mizuki came running to the front door holding their cat
It’s a fluffy white cat with bright yellow eyes
“Mizuki let him settle in first!”
“Oh sorry sorry! Let me show you your room!”
“Alright one second”
Toya put the carrier on the ground and opened the door
Espresso immediately walked out and jumped on Toya’s lap
“Hi, I know it was stressful”
“Aww she’s so cute!”
Mizuki put their cat down on the floor next to Toya
“What’s her name?”
“Meowth! We call her a lot of things though..”
“Clorox, Pearl, Snookums, Crumpled Tissue, Shampoo, Smoke Detector, Cheese Stick-“
“Wait Crumpled Tissue?”
“Rui came up with it”
“Okay it was 5 and I hadn’t slept on two days”
“Well that’s your fault! And you kept calling her that!”
“Okay whatever! Come on Toya, we'll help you settle in!”

“Good. I expect everything went well”
“It did, the building’s gone”
“Thank you Tono..”
“The news should be covering it now”

Toya was sitting on the couch with both cats around him
They were fighting for his attention but he was also trying to work on the case about the fire
It was 4 o’clock on Monday, he wasn’t supposed to be working, but he still wanted to know what happened to his apartment building
Rui and Mizuki were out right now so it’s just him and the cats

Toya was searching news article after news article, no information about anyone suspicious, or how the fire could have started
He kept looking and nothing
He was snapped out of his ongoing searching by a knock on the door, he assumed it was Rui and Mizuki by the time but when he opened the door, he was not expecting who to see
“Welcome bac- Father!?”
“Hello Toya..” His father was standing in the doorway next to someone he doesn’t recognize
“How did you even find me!?And who are you?”
“Where are my manners? My name is Arata Tono..”

Toya gasped and took a step back. ‘So this is the guy Akito was talking about? And he’s working for my father?!’
“I saw that you met my siblings..”
“Huh?” Toya is extremely confused. The only people he met were Akito, Ena, Emu, and Tsukasa and none of them shared a last name with Arata
“Oh.. so he didn’t tell you? The Shinonomes are my step siblings”
“Oh.. wait, that still doesn’t answer my question, how did you- MMPH!”
Toya was cut off by a sudden hand over his mouth. His father was no longer at the door so he assumed it was him restricting his mouth and his other hand moved to hold his arms in place
Toya started instinctively kicking his legs to try and catch his father off guard. Normally he would flail his arms but those were kinda restricted right now
“Tono.. you know what to do,” Arata nodded and walked up to the struggling boy and quickly hit his chin, forcing his head to jerk sideways quickly knocking him out
For the third time in 7 days

“Well I didn't expect you to hit his chin..”
“It forces the head to twist suddenly so the brain kinda rattles around in his skull”
“Sometimes.. you worry me,” Harumichi let go of his son, causing him to fall to the floor. “Why do you even need him boss?”
“He works for Ken, I assumed we could get some information out of him. I didn’t know he still lives here, but seeing him next to Ken’s daughter told me exactly where to look. I also see it as a way to get more revenge on your siblings, since he was also next to the red headed one as well”
Arata hummed a response before pulling a rope out of his pocket. Damn men’s pockets being so large..

Arata knelt down and started tying Toya’s wrists and ankles before he picked him up and threw him over his shoulder
“Let’s go, his roommates are probably gonna be here so- what the hell? Harumichi got cut off by hissing coming from the couch and something scratching at his ankles
“Ugh.. it’s Toya’s stupid cat,” Harumichi kicked Espresso away before walking out of the door, Arata quickly following him

When the two got outside and Harumichi unlocked the car, another car pulled up into the driveway
Two people ran out, Mizuki and Rui
“HARUMICHI!? PUT TOYA DOWN!”
“I don’t have him in my hands..”
“Wait a second.. ARATA!?”
“Hello Kamishiro!” Arata quickly threw Toya in the back seat before getting into the passenger’s side
“Mizuki get in the car right now,” they quickly complied. Harumichi got into the car and sped off, going well over the speed limit
Rui quickly got into his car and chased after the other car

“Mizuki call An, or Ken or someone from the agency!”
“Got it!” They quickly pulled out their phone and called An who quickly picked up
“Mizuki? Is something wrong”
“Toya just got kidnapped! AGAIN!”
“By who!?”
“His dad and someone else”
“Mizuki put it on speaker so I can talk to her”
The quickly put the phone on speaker and Rui started shouting
“ITS FUCKING ARATA HES ALIVE AND WORKING FOR HARUMICHI!!”
“WHAT!?”
“YEA- SHIT I FUCKING LOST THEM! AN I'M GOING TO THE AGENCY RIGHT NOW MEET ME THERE”
“Okay, DAAAAAAAAD, bye Rui, bye Mizuki see you soon”

An hung up and Rui stepped on the gas, going way faster than before
“Is Toya gonna be okay?”
“I fucking hope so!”

Toya woke up in a dark room tied to a chair again
This time it wasn’t with tape, instead a thick rope restrained him
He tried to scream, but there was something tied around his mouth, not allowing a sound to be made
He heard footsteps start to approach him and quickly started panicking
‘It’s Father it has to be he’s gonna kill me oh god…’
Turns out it wasn’t, a brunette appeared in front of Toya in a letter of seconds, giggling slightly
“Hello Toya! You know you were pretty easy to take down. Makes me wonder how you’re one of Ken’s prized investigators”
Toya tried to talk but it came out as a muffled response

“Oh sorry about having to gag you but we can’t have you giving away our location by shouting. The tracking device in that arm of yours has also been disabled, so now no one’s finding you..”
“MAHHPAS!”
“Sorry, what was that?”
“MAHAHP AUAM!” Any cry for help turned into a string of incoherent and muffled words
Toya started rocking the chair back and forth trying to break free but that didn’t work
The chair ended up falling over and Toya fell with it
Arata seemed to be having too much fun because he started laughing

“Okay Toya that was very humorous but I’m not helping you up”
The chair was sideways so at least it was somewhat like a position normal people sleep in
“Hehe.. I’ll see you later Toya! Prepare to go through hell and back”
Arata left Toya tied up in a chair that was laying sideways on the floor

‘Could today get any worse?’
He started thinking about what happened when Akito had ‘kidnapped’ him
He was way too kind for someone holding another person hostage
He wanted that to be every kidnapping experience he had, if he had to go through more
Toya quickly closed his eyes and at least tried to sleep
He kept saying that tomorrow would be better to himself before falling asleep

Chapter Text

An bolted into the agency and found Rui and Mizuki in Ken’s office
Rui didn’t bring his laptop with him so he had to use one of the spare ones, they still work the same they just aren’t as fast as his
“Rui! Can you tell me what happened in like detail this time?”
“Yeah.. so me and Mizuki were driving home from a party and when we got there Harumichi and Arata were there. Arata had a most likely unconscious Toya on his shoulder and threw him in the car and- AW FUCK!”
“What is it?!”
“The tracking device was disabled..”

“God dammit..”
An started pacing around the room
She’s worried, even if Toya can handle himself, he freezes when it comes to his dad
An also know how horrible Toya’s dad is. The agency has been working on finding Harumichi ever since Toya joined, and she’s seen what happened to people that were taken by Harumichi
“What are we gonna do!?” Mizuki was more panicked than the other two. They’ve known Toya for quite a while and considered him a really close friend. They knew about his dad and what happened to his mom and almost anything about him and now that Toya was back with his father, they couldn’t help but worry
“I have an idea and An isn’t gonna like it..”
“Don’t say his name..”

“An, what choice do we have?!” Rui sounded stressed, or panicked, probably a mix of both. “Listen, Arata is alive and working for a common enemy, and Akito has information pieced together about Harumichi that we could never get in a million years!”
“He still-“
“You can’t blame Akito for anything now! Arata isn’t dead and Akito didn’t push him to be the best. His alibi makes so much more sense now!”
An sighed and pulled out her phone and saw a text from Kohane

Akito remember where the agency was and it’s not like it was far, he just really didn’t wanna go
It’s like 5:00 he really didn’t want to walk there at night but he did it
He went to open the door, not thinking it would be open, turns out it was
“AN WHERE ARE YOU!?” He thought the place was empty based on the fact that his voice echoed and no one responded
He started walking down a hallway and got to a bunch of photos hanging on a wall
They were of all the people that worked at the agency in that year
A lot of them had the same people for about 3 years then more people
He landed on one year in particular, the photo from 4 years ago
The year he got fired for absolutely nothing

He couldn’t help but laugh at it ‘Of course they edited me out of the photo..’
The photo next to it was one of Arata, which he quickly turned around
“Fuckin liar..”
“Yo Akito over here!” An came running down the stairs with Mizuki next to her
Akito walked over to the stairs and followed the two of them to Ken’s office
There seemed to be this sort of tension between An and Akito
“Mizuki you go ahead, I wanna talk to Akito for a sec”
“Hmm? Okay!” They walked into the room and started talking with Rui before An closed the door

“Hey..”
“Hey”
“Geez you’re making this worse okay I’m just gonna say it. I’m sorry for how I treated you”
Akito was taken aback by her statement, those are words he’d never thought An would say
“I-… I forgive you”
“I know you won’t forgi- wait what?”
“I said it, I forgive you. I know how you felt that day on the roof and I don’t blame you”
“Wow I- come on we should go help Rui with this”
“Wait what exactly happened?”
“Toya got kidnapped again.. by his dad and Arata..”
“Oh shit”

Toya woke up, now the chair was in its normal position and he was sitting up
He was still restricted from talking but at least he wasn’t sideways on the floor anymore
“Toya..”
He turned his head around to the sudden voice
It was his father
“Maphan?”
He didn’t notice until now, but his jacket was gone and so were his shoes. His left arm didn’t have the blue detailing on it, indicating something else had been disabled in it so he couldn’t move it
“You know why you’re here, correct?
He shook his head in response, trying to talk was no use
“Well then.. we need information about the Shiraishi agency and Akito,” Harumichi walked over to his son and took off the piece of cloth covering his mouth, “tell me what you know”

“Like I’m ever telling you of all people anything about them”
“I really don’t want to do this,” he pulled out a small pocket knife and pressed it against Toya’s right arm
It was pressed against his skin hard enough for blood to be drawn, but it wasn’t the worst pain he’s ever felt
“Tell me.. where is Akito” Arata came walking in holding a pet carrier and something else in his other hand
“No..”
“I thought your precious little cat would be more important to you.. guess not”
Arata put a gun on the side of the pet carrier, a meow could be heard, it sounded so small and weak
“No! Don’t hurt Espresso.. anything but that..”
“Where is he then?” Arata put is finger on the trigger
“A-a small apartment somewhere in town, I don’t know the address I swear!”
“Hmm..”
“I swear I don’t know anything else!”
“You still haven’t answered anything about the agency..”
“What do you want me to say!? I’m not allowed to work on anything relating to you due to how panicked it makes me!”

“Arata.. leave for a second,” Arata walked away leaving the ‘father’ and son alone. “This is why you’re a disgrace to the family Toya. You’re the reason your mother died-“
“No you are because you fucking killed her!”
“Why you little..” Harumichi was quick to let go of the knife and punch Toya’s eye
Toya let out a strangled noise before being fired to look at his father
“Listen to me Toya… you’re a failure, you have no purpose. This is the end of the line for you. After this week is over, you will be gone. Mark my words”
Harumichi walked away leaving his son frozen in fear

‘WHAT THE FUCK!?’
Toya’s mind was screaming, he wanted to scream but he couldn’t get a sound out
He knew his father had left but he swore he heard him talking
“You will give us all of the information you know, unless you would like Akito.. or An, or your stupid cat to die”
This really is the end of the line for him..

Muzuki was currently passed out on a couch and An was nodding off while standing behind Akito and Rui
“Guys it’s too early for this.. we should sleep for a bit..”
“I’ll be fine, you should go sleep in your office if you’re tired”
“Yeah, me and Akito will work a bit longer, you should rest”
“Alright, don’t stay up super late you guys, you need to rest at some point”
“We’ll be fine An,” the girl walked out of the room leaving Rui and Akito to try and look for Toya

“Hey Rui.. when I was talking with Toya a few days ago we found an unknown address in Harumichi’s file.. we thought that it would be where he is”
“Do you have it with you?”
“No, it's back at our apartment.. unless you guys have a copy of the file?”
“What do you mean copy?”
“Well…. Tsukasa maybe stole the Aoyagi family’s file..”
“I couldn’t expect anything less from him.. I’ll go look”
Rui stood up from the desk, multiple of his joints popped which was probably not a good thing
Rui walked over to a different side of the room to a bunch of filing cabinets and opened one and started sorting through it

After a minute or two Rui came back holding three different files
One was on the Aoyagi family, one was specifically Harumichi, and the last one was.. Arata?
“You have a file on Arata?”
“We wanted to know what actually happened to him.. I never really thought it would come in handy”
“Here let me see that,” he grabbed Arata’s file and started flipping through it
“Heh.. you guys are missing something in here.. me and Arata are step siblings..”
“What?!”
“Yup.. our dad was a dick and while married to our mom went out, got drunk, and had a surprise son. He’s two years older than me though..”
“You guys did look similar.. just barely though. I’m surprised you never told anyone”
“I never thought it was important,” Akito set the file down and looked at the laptop in front of the two of them
“I have an idea..”
Right as Rui said that, Akito’s phone started buzzing, someone was calling him
“Arata?”
“He’s calling you… pick it up this may be important”
Akito did as the purple haired man said and instead of seeing his stepbrother’s face on the screen, it was Toya
The blue haired boy tied in a chair, either asleep or unconscious, and none other than Harumichi Aoyagi standing behind his son

“What the fuck?!” Akito whisper yelled, as an attempt not to alert anyone on the other side of the phone, even if they know he was already there
Akito started whispering to Rui to make sure only he heard him, “go wake An up right now”
He nodded and quickly ran off to go to An’s office
“What do you want?”
“Now that’s not a way to greet your dearest brother is it?”
“Don't call yourself that you know how much I hate you..”
“Harsh but fair,” Arata walked into the view of the camera
It was scarily close to Toya, Akito could visibly see the black eye and various bruises on his body
It was hard to see

“Seriously, what do you want!?”
“I wanna know where you are Akito. I want you and your stupid sister dead. You’re the reason I never got attention as a child, I never had a father figure because of you and Ena..”
Arata held a knife up to the unconscious boy in the chair, specifically at his throat. “So what’s your decision Akito?”
The ginger froze of the spot, he didn’t know what to do
“I-…”
“Need some more convincing? Boss, you know what to do..”
The man held Toya’s scalp fairly roughly, forcing his face directly at the camera, before taking something small, it resembled a stick but Akito couldn’t tell what it was
The item touched Toya’s neck for about 2 seconds before his eyes shot open and started screaming

It was an agonizing noise that made Akito sick to his stomach
“FATHER ST-STOP PLEASE IT BURNS! I-I’M SORRY”
Utter horror filled Akito’s body as Toya’s screams just kept coming from the phone, he almost dropped it
Rui and An came running into the room and immediately went to where Akito was
“So what’s the answer, Shinonome?”
“A-Akito don’t do i-ACK,” a hand moved to grasp Toya’s neck, forcing him to stop talking
“That’s enough out of you.. Tono, take him to the other room”
Arata grabbed the back of the chair and started walking, a horrible screeching noise was heard because of the chair being dragged across the floor
“Shiraishi.. would you like your agent back?”
“Of course I do but I’m not gonna do some crazy shit!”
“Well then I guess he’s not worth saving-“
“NO! What is it you want?”

“I would like the downfall of your little agency, but if that’s too much.. hand both Shinonome siblings over to us and maybe you’ll get Toya in one piece.. I could-“
“I dont wanna hear what you’re gonna say next. There’s no way I’m handing the agency over to you!”
“I could always take the Shinonome siblings.. oh and you Shiraishi..”
An and Akito’s breath hitched
“There’s no way you guys are gonna do that… right?”
Both of them looked towards the floor and avoided Rui’s question
“I will give you a week.. after that your precious Toya is gone”

The call hung up and the three immediately looked at each other with concern
“What are we gonna do?”

“ARATA LEAVE ME ALONE!”
Arata was too busy pressing the lit cigarette onto Toya’s neck
Harumichi said it was one of Toya’s greatest weaknesses
He hated getting burned, that’s why he typically strayed away from cooking extravagant things
Apparently one of his brothers ‘accidentally’ spilled scalding coffee on him as a kid
“Tell me about the Shinonomes and why they were looking for Harumichi then..”
“T-they wanted to find their parents!”
“Sure sure..”
“I’m serious! I-I swear on my life!”
“Well.. prepare to die then..”
“Wait wait no nonono NONONO I DONT WANNA DIE YET!”

Arata quickly pulled I knife up to Toya’s throat once again before he turned off the lights and left the room
Toya was breathing super heavily
His life just flashed before his eyes and now all he could think about was Akito and Ena’s safety
He hadn’t even known them that well why the hell was he worried about them?
His mind was just spiraling before he heard footsteps coming in his direction
He just pretended to be asleep

“Toya.. wake up..”
“…”
“Toya!”
“…”
“Fine…”
His father walked out of the room, leaving a somewhat relieved Toya by himself, thinking about people who kidnapped him but never tortured him
People that were way too kind to be ‘criminals’
God he really needs someone to save him

Chapter Text

Akito, Rui, and An all ended up falling asleep at the desk
An was basically falling off her chair, Rui had his head on the desk, and since there wasn’t enough room for all of them, Akito opted to sleep on the floor instead of piling onto the other two
The door to the office opened and someone walked in, slightly startled by the 4 sleeping people in the room

“Akito?!”
“Mm.. Huh? Oh.. KEN!?”
“How’d you get in here and why is everyone asleep in my office?”
“Okay first answer, An let me in. Second answer, you should probably wake up An and ask her, because I don’t have all the details”
“Alright.. go get Mizuki off the couch, I’ll wake up the other two”
“Alright”

Akito got up to get Mizuki, who is a surprisingly light sleeper and Ken got An up after 8 minutes, Rui woke up from Ken trying to get An up
“An.. can you tell me what happened?”
“Okay first, Arata is alive and working for Harumichi, second-“
“He is?”
“That’s basically why Akito’s here. Second, Toya got kidnapped by them”
“Seriously?!”
“Yup..”
“Arata called Akito last night and literally tortured Toya in front of our eyes.. wait, I think I can trace the call and find the address!”
“Kamishiro’s way too smart for his own good, anyway Akito give him your phone so he can trace the call!”

“Actually.. I need my personal laptop for that. Mizuki, do you think you could drive to the house and go get it?”
“Yup! I’ll be back, we also have to feed the cats that seems important”
“You do that! Okay for now can you show the address you found the first time, Akito?”
“Okay yeah let me see the file”
Rui handed Akito the file and the 4 of them walked over to the couch and sat down
Akito started flipping through the file until he landed on the paper Toya found last time
“Here it is,” Akito handed the paper to Rui who started studying the address carefully before pulling his phone out and searching it up
“It used to be an apartment building and was set to be demolished a few years back..”
“Is it still there?”
“Yup, abandoned now”
“So do we have our answer?”
“Not yet An.. it could have been an older place. I’m actually not sure how it ended up in there..”

Ken started studying the paper more before he noticed something unexpected, “Rui, do you still have the paper everyone signed 4 years ago?”
“Yes.. why?”
“I thought that this handwriting looked way too familiar.. I could be wrong because it looks like Arata’s but also a mix of An’s..”
“I do remember having to write a bunch of random things once.. this could be one of them..”
“So there goes our only lead?”
“Not exactly. Like Ken said it only looks a bit like An’s, so it could still be anyone”
The four kept going back and forth until Mizuki came back with Rui’s laptop and a whole bunch of coffee, presumably for everyone
“Here Rui! Also I stopped and got drinks for everyone. Akito I wasn’t exactly sure what to get you but it’s something sweet!”
“How’d you know I like sweet things..?”
“O-oh! People that still work here from when you did said you had a really big sweet tooth!”

Now Akito’s confused
Why would that information about him be important?

“Hmm? Oh sorry what’s happening?”
“Can I see your phone?”
“Oh yeah here,” Akito pulled his phone out and handed it to Rui, who immediately plugged it into a cord that was in his laptop
Rui started typing away on the keys for a bit
“I got something!”
“Does it match the other address?” An was eager to find this out. She really wanted to lunch both Harumichi and Arata in the face so finding them would be a win for her
“Ah.. it is!”
The 5 people in the room started cheering
This was the closest the agency has ever come to finding Harumichi Aoyagi, and now they were getting in of their best agents back as well
“What’s with all of the commotion?” Kohane and Nene came walking into the room
“AKITO?!” Nene almost came running up to him and started punching him, but An quickly stopped her

“We found Harumichi. And Arata is alive and working for him..”
“Oh seriously.. So Akito's not banned?”
“Nope! Look, we found Harumichi!”
“That’s so cool you guys!” Kohane walked up to An and gave a quick kiss on the cheek before An did the same to her girlfriend
“Alright, we'll discuss this in a few hours. You guys still need to work on the cases about the fires”
“Fires?”
“Yeah, you remember when Toya’s building burned down last week? A café across town just got set ablaze too”
“Wait…”

An apartment complex
A café
And…
Oh..
“Guys..”
“What?”
“I.. never mind..”
‘They mistreated you Akito.. they don’t deserve shit from you’
“Okay? Oh Dad we have a week to get Toya back, his dad’s kinda holding him hostage. His demands are kinda extreme..”
“What is he asking for?”
“Either to disband the agency, or me, Akito, and his sister hand ourselves over..”

Ken looked like he saw a ghost
His face went white
“An.. under no circumstances are you handing yourself over to him.. you too Akito, and with your sister”
“We won’t Ken, but how are we getting Toya back?”
“We have the address.. I’ll come up with a plan and I will call the rest of you back when I’m done. For now the rest of you get to work. Akito you can stay with me”
Everyone else got up and walked out of the room and to their respective locations

“Hey Akito, what was it you wanted to say before?”
“Well.. when I was looking through the Aoyagi family’s file, the one Tsukasa stole, I noticed a list of addresses. Only three weren’t crossed out. An apartment complex, a café, and here”
“Are you saying what I think you are?”
“Yes..”
“I’ll look into it. Thank you Akito,” Ken stood up and walked over to his desk leaving Akito to look into the file again
“Hey Akito.. it would be great to have you back at the agency”
“Really?”
“Yeah. After we get Toya back, you should definitely come back with us”
“That would be great.. thank Ken”
“No problem”

“Wake up Little Aoyagi!!”

Toya was rudely awoken by the sound of banging
Arata was standing in front of him with a pot and a wooden spoon that was banging on said pot
“Ugh.. did you really have to wake me up like that?”
“Yup! It was definitely necessary, according to the boss”
Toya sighed and looked around the room. There wasn’t anything but a basically empty bookshelf in it and a few chairs

“Hey Arata.. why do you work for my father?”
“Interesting question.. he promised safety, he promised that he would treat me like a son and be the dad I never had if I helped him..”
Toya scoffed at his answer
His father
A dad to someone else?
That would never work
“How’s that going for you?”
“Better than it went for you. I went the way he commanded, that’s why he treats me like a son”

The two were glaring at each other, “and this is why I’m not tied up in a chair!” Arata walked to the other side of the room, surprisingly cheerful for someone who kidnapped another person
“By the way, your dad is coming to talk to you. Good luck”
A door opened and closed right after, leaving Toya in the semi lit room by himself

Toya waited for about 5 minutes before he heard the squeaky door open again and someone walk in
“Toya..”
Harumichi walked in front of his son and sat down in a chair
“Are you ready to talk or are we going to have to do this the hard way?”
“I genuinely don’t know what you want me to say!”
“Tell me Ken’s weakness..”
His father’s voice was harsh
It was scary to hear, almost causing Toya to flinch at it
He knew what this tone meant.. he knew it all to well, hell he lived it

“I-“
“And don’t you dare say you don’t know what I’m talking about. I want to know what would break him to the point of disbanding the agency..”
“No..”
“Hmm? Alright then,” Harumichi opened a curtain covering a huge window that overlooked the city
He leaned the chair Toya win in slightly downward so he would see the bottom
‘We’re.. really high up..’
“Still afraid of heights are you? Pathetic..”
Toya was trying to panic, given the fact he can’t move away or show any form of weakness
That’s what his father wanted to see

“Toya.. look down,” Harumichi moved his other hand to the back of Toya’s hair and forced him roughly to look bellow
His heart started racing, the thought of his father letting go of the chair and he would probably go falling off the building terrified Toya, but he had to stay strong
“I-I’m not telling you!”
“Well then.. I didn’t think I’d have to resort to this..” Harumichi pulled a piece of cloth from his pocket and tied it around Toya’s eyes before dragging the chair out of the room

He knew not to talk, if he spoke he would most likely get hurt
Even if that was going to happen already, he didn’t want to get hurt from talking rather than not talking
Eventually Toya heard another door open before the movements of the chair stopped and the blindfolded was taken off
The room was dark, really dark
There was a projector in the middle of the room, which was the only source of light
Harumichi went up to a laptop next to the projector and hit the space bar, causing a video to start playing on the blank wall

“MAMA!?”
The child’s voice rand through Toya’s ears, causing him to inhale sharply
“It’s okay my dears, Mommy’s gonna be okay!”
Three VERY young kids were being held back by a bunch of bodyguards
A beautiful woman was being held down by a man with a gun in his hand
Even near death she never stopped making sure her kids were okay
She knew how horrible their father was and vowed to protect them till the very end
This woman was Toya’s mother

“DAD LET MOM GO!” The oldest tried to escape the grasp one of the guards had on him, but nothing worked
The middle child was also trying to break free to no avail
But the youngest stood out, he stood there in fear, he couldn’t move, could barely breathe, and definitely couldn’t say a word
He was sobbing without a sound, all of the kids were

The mother still had that same smile on her face

“Do you have anything left to say?”
The same cold and stern voice was heard
“Smile wide for me-“
She was cut off by the sound of a gunshot straight through her skull
Her body soon collapsed onto the floor, blood puddling under her
“Let them go..”
The grasps on the children were released and the older two immediately rushed to their mother but one couldn’t move
“TOYA DO SOMETHING!”
He couldn’t move a muscle
“THIS IS YOUR FAULT!” The middle of the three siblings went walking up to Toya, “MOM AND DAD NEVER WANTED YOU. YOU'RE A MISTAKE TOYA! AN ACCIDENT! YOU WERE NEVER MEANT TO BE HERE AT LEAST MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL!”

“I-I ca-an’t..”
“IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! DAD HATES YOU AND INSTEAD OF YOU BEING DEAD MOM IS!” His brother quickly shoved him to the ground and went to land a lunch on his face-
The video stopped..
Everything from that day was still replaying in his mind
When his brother beat him up
Watching his oldest brother call an ambulance
His brothers were only 15 and 14
Toya himself was 12

“I trust that you’ll talk now”
Toya couldn’t respond
He didn’t know when he did but he started crying, his father immediately noticed
“N-n..”
“Still no? How about we watch it a few more times to get you to speak..”

That’s the fifth time Toya heard that today
He’s still crying
Watching one of the only people who ever showed you love die multiple times hurts someone in ways people don’t understand
“Are you going to talk now?”
Toya shook his head no
“Alright then..”

The video replayed again
The door to the room opened and Arata came walking in
“Boss this is the sixth time you’ve made him watch it, are you sure this isn’t too… cruel?”
“He simply needs to learn Tono.. now leave while o deal with my son”
“But I-“
“Leave..”
“Yes sir..”

Chapter Text

Ken called everyone back into his office after about 2 hours of brainstorming with Akito
The plan was to go after midnight and split up into teams of two
Rui with Akito, Kohane with An, and Mizuki with Nene
Ken would search by himself since he could handle it best
“Everyone gets it right?”
“Yeah we’ll be good!”
“Good, hey Akito if you need to go grab some stuff from your place I don’t mind driving you”
“Thanks Ken, but we could probably go get my stuff when we leave. The place isn’t too far from where we’re staying so it won’t be a problem”
“Alright it’s settled. Everyone will meet in the parking lot at 23:30 so we can go through with the plan. You guys can go now”

Everyone stood up and went their separate ways
Kohane went to go get lunch for the people she shares an office with
Mizuki went to a fabric store nearby to fix up some of the outing outfits they made
Everyone else went back to working
Akito was about to go ask Ken something when he got a call
From Ena
Akito quickly realized he forgot to tell everyone where he went last night

“Hey?”
“Akito where have you been?!”
“Ugh long story so I’m back at the agency and-“
“WHAT!?”
“Relax.. they’re letting me back in. Toya got kidnapped by his dad and Arata and since I had a shit ton of information about Harumichi, An asked me to help”
“Can I come with you guys?”
“Ena I don’t think that’s a good idea”
“I’m not letting you go without me”

Akito couldn’t deny at this point
He moved the phone away from his face for a second to talk to Ken
“Hey.. my sister is probably gonna come with us..”
“That’s fine, the more people we have the better it will be”
“Alright. Yeah Ena you can come but maybe bringing Tsukasa be Emu isn’t the best-“
“We’re coming too, Akito!”
Great…
“Fine.. we’re coming at around midnight, so be ready when I get there”
“Alright. See ya latter Lil bro!”
“Bye En”

Akito hung up and out his phone in his pocket
The door was quickly thrown open and Mizuki walked in with a shit ton of fabric and some outfits on a rack
“Akito I wanna talk with you!”
“Oh uh yeah sure,” Akito sat down on the couch again and Mizuki sat across from him in a chair
“So.. you and Toya?”
“What do you mean?”
“You seriously- okay why were you so willing to help when Toya was involved?”
“Well I-uh he’s nice..”
“Is that really all?”
“What are you implying?”
“Oh nothing nothing…” Mizuki pinned a few pieces of fabric to a skirt
Apparently they found some organza that they really wanted to put on their and Kohane’s outfits because well..

“Why are you using such a flashy fabric on something that’s supposed to make you blend in?”
“I don’t know.. why do YOU have bright traffic cone orange lights on your outfits?”
“I-… fair point. Wait back to Toya”
Mizuki smirked at him, “oh you are in love”
“WHAT?!”
“YOU HEARD ME!” They pointed their sewing needle at him and started laughing
The two kept yelling at each other while Ken was laughing on the other side of the room
“Okay you two that’s enough”

Harumichi gave up on trying to show Toya the video of his mother since he wouldn’t cave
Now he’s been forcing Toya to watch videos of people dropping cameras from planes
Y’know fear of heights and all
Touya’s stomach felt uneasy. Even if he wasn’t the one falling he was still panicking
“I’m sorry I’m late boss! I got caught up back at work”
Someone came running through the door
The voice was very feminine and the person had light footsteps, barely making a sound
“It’s fine.. I need you to watch Toya for a second, I have to go get Tono”
“Of course!”

Toya couldn’t help but feel like he recognized the voice, like he knew the person for years but couldn’t put his finger on the voice
It has a natural deep sound to it
It’s not extremely masculine or anything just not high pitched like most people he knows
It doesn’t sound like anyone he knows exactly but it just sounds familiar
“Who are y-“
“Hush with the questions, look at the screen”
Toya tried to turn and look at the person but because it was so dark he couldn’t see them
He could make out slightly feminine features but that didn’t really mean anything
“Who are you?”
“I’m hurt you don’t recognize me..”
“Wait wait wait… YOU-“
“Yup! Took ya long enough Toya..”
“How did you get here-“
The door opened once more

“You can go back to work now, I know you needed to check up on this plan”
“Yup! By the way they’re coming tonight, midnight to be exact. I’m going with them I’ll try and stall as long as I can”
“No need.. just don’t help them fight us, or leave in a different direction when you get here. I’ll see you later”
“You too boss!”
The door opened and closed once more before the video on the wall stopped
“Let’s try one more video…”
Harumichi typed on the laptop for a few seconds before a song started playing

Toya only recognized it so quickly because of the hours he had to spend learning it

Toya felt more uneasy now.. he hated falling he hated being called a failure
He didn’t like it
Hearing the music he would have to slave over as a child hurt him
Never being good enough hurt him
He was tired of this
He couldn’t take it anymore

“It’s An..”
“Excuse me?”
“His weakness.. if anything ever happened to his daughter, he would try and help her in a heartbeat. She’s been through so much, even if she’s 21, he still treats her like his little girl.. I want that.. Father.. why were we never allowed to have that?”
“It would have made you soft.. you wouldn’t have been ready to handle the real world..”
“Father.. you know.. I had a father.. but a Dad? No..”

“You little ungrateful child..”
“I’m not lying!”
Harumichi looked at his son before turning off the song and playing some sort of horrific noises instead

He quickly left the room after

Toya has been left alone with an absolutely horrendous noise for about an hour or so
Although it felt like an eternity for him
The door opened slightly and Arata walked in and paused the sound that was playing
Toya breathed a sigh of relief. His head hurt like hell and the whole thing was just to drive him to the point of insanity

“I get what you meant by your dad not being the best now..”
“Mhm.. took long enough..”
“I would be mad if I wasn’t confused. How long has he been like that?”
“My entire life.. he never wanted me, I was the mistake child”
Arata pulled a chair from the corner of the room. Toya didn’t even notice the chairs because it was stupidly dark
“I kinda feel like shit for treating you like that.. I thought you did something horrible to the boss but I couldn’t be more wrong.. I still want to get my revenge on both Shinonomes but, you don’t deserve this”
“I can’t believe you said that after you threatened to kill my cat in front of me..”
“Actually she wasn’t in there.. it was a phone that was set on a sound effect.. I’m sorry”

Toya was staring at him with a death glare
He was already mad about his cat being threatened, now that he knows it was fake, he’s furious
“Listen I don’t know what my father is paying you to act like a nice person to me, but get whatever you were gonna do over with”
“Ugh at least you have a dad!”
“I really didn’t. I just had an abusive monster who claimed to have authority over me”

“Is that how you see me?” Toya failed to notice his father standing in the doorway listening to the conversation
“Thank you for your work Tono.. you’re dismissed for now,” Harumichi walked into the room and stood next to the blue haired boy
“But-“
“You are dismissed, Tono”
Arata huffed before standing up and walking out

“So that’s how you see me?”
“I’m not lying Father..”
“Words hurt Toya..”
“You know what hurts more? You hitting me!”
“You know what you are? A worthless, unwanted, untalented child.. you were never supposed to exist!”
“I get it! You don’t have to keep telling me. I told you what you wanted to know now leave me alone!”
“Toya when are you going to understand.. no one is coming to get you because you have no worth..”
“I don’t care! I just want you to realize I’m a person!”

The two started yelling at each other more
Harumichi was right when he said words hurt, but it hurt Toya more than him
“Toya, listen to me. You have nothing to live for. No hopes and no dreams. You got what you wanted.. now you have nothing else to live for”
“I do! I’m trying to protect the people who care for me when you never did! Don’t you understand that or do I have to repeat myse-“
Toya felt a force hit his head before he, once again, not knocked unconscious
“You really need to get a new hobby. Getting knocked out isn’t very fun”

Harumichi started untying Toya, he didn’t want to of course but he also thought that the chair was too nice
“What are you doing boss?”
“The chair seems too nice for him.. could you help me tie him back up?”
“Well I-“
“I wasn’t asking Tono.. now come on we’re having guests in a few hours.. I’ll tell you what you need to do later”

“Akito, are you ready?”
Akito was lost in thought
He was staring at the files on the table trying to see if there was anything he missed
“Earth to Akito! Come on we have to get your stuff”
“Oh right.. sorry”
Akito stood up and walked out with An
“Wait what’s in the bag?”
“Mm? Oh it’s Toya’s stuff! We figured he may want to change since he’s been there for a bit, and there may be blood on his clothes.. not sure though we just wanted to make sure”
“Ah right.. come on let’s go”

The two walked downstairs to where Ken’s van was
Everyone else was already waiting, they just needed to get the rest of the Vivid Phoenixes, and Akito’s stuff
“You guys ready?”
A bunch of ‘yes!’s came from everyone in the car
So Ken started driving

It was relatively quiet so it allowed Akito to think about what situation Toya could be in right now
He was definitely hurt, that was a given
He was probably extremely tired as well
Now Akito was wondering
Why the hell was he thinking about Toya so much?
‘Maybe Mizuki is right.. what if it is love?’

“Hey Akito! Is this the place?”
“Huh.. oh let me see Uhh…. Yeah, I’ll be right back”
Akito got out of the car and walked to the apartment
He unlocked the door and slowly walked in seeing everyone in the living room
“Sup Akito!”
“All of your stuff is still in your room, hurry up because I want to punch Arata so badly..”
“We both hate him Ena I know.. I get the first punch”
“FUCK YOU!”

Akito rolled his eyes-lovingly- and walked into his room
Sure enough everything was where he left it
He changed as quickly as possible before putting both his gun and the two knives Eva bought him a few weeks ago just incase

The four walked out of the apartment and went outside
“Hey Akito, are we all gonna fit?”
“I mean it fits twelve people so we’ll be okay”

“They use that van to take people out on missions so yeah.. twelve”

Chapter Text

It was cold
Dark dusty and cold
The first thing Toya noticed was that he was not in a chair anymore
‘Father was probably angry..’
The next thing he noticed was that his back hurt like hell
Like not even hell.. ten times worse than hell
He felt like screaming, he tried until he realized his mouth had been covered.. again
His shirt felt like it was stuck to his back and he couldn’t do anything about it

He sat there for a while until a special smell hit his nose
Blood..
Now Toya’s panicking
‘What did father do!? Who do I feel so tired like I’m about to pass out where is this smell coming from?! Why is it so dark and cold?!”
He tried looking around the room for anything that could help him figure out what happened
But he couldn’t see two feet in front of him

He saw something shiny from the corner of his eye
Of course he wasn’t able to make it out but he knew it was there at least
He was just trying to figure out what was happening and where he is
He’s definitely still in the same place just in a different room
“Ooooh Toya!”
Someone came from down the stairs sounding way too cheerful…
“Mph…”
“The rest of the people at the agency that are working on this case are here now! We can’t have you talking and give away where you are.. sorry about that”
Toya just grumbled a response
“Well I’m gonna go back out to make sure I’m not too suspicious. See ya later!”

The girl walked back up the stairs and opened the door
The small amount of light that came in let Toya see the belt on the floor
“So that’s what it was…’
Before Toya could see anything else, the door closed again, leaving him in the dark
Alone..

“So here’s the plan,” the group just arrived at the location but everyone stayed in the car to discuss the plan. “The teams will stay the same, unless anyone wants to switch them up now that Ena, Tsukasa, and Emu are here”
“Can I go with Ena instead.. sorry Rui no offense it’s just me and my sister work well together”
“I take no offense to that.. I was also going to ask to switch with Tsukasa”
“Great, Emu you’re with me. I realize you can probably handle yourself but Harumichi is dangerous and I don’t want any of you getting seriously injured”

Everyone nodded then got out of the car
Ken went to grab a few things from the trunk before calling An over
“You realize someone from the agency is working for Harumichi right?”
“Really?”
“Yes, so please keep an eye out. If anyone disappears report it to someone”
“You got it Dad!”

An quickly went over to Kohane and told her
Kohane’s response was expected
A gasp and a shocked look followed by a nod
“I will An! You can count on me”
“Ah I knew I could count on you! Love you!”
“I love you too!”
Alito rolled his eyes at them and that was followed by Ena laughing at him
“What do you wish you had what they have with someone?”
“Well kinda! I’m- this makes me sound so sad oh my god. I’m 21 and have only ever dated 2 people in highschool Ena..”

Ena started cackling at him
She doesn’t have a partner either but she’s at least dated more people than that
“Bro you are so done for if you ever get a boyfriend”
“I’m gonna punch you!”
“Okay you two, let’s go!”
Everyone walked over to a set of doors before Ken opened it, looked inside, and let everyone go in before following them

Something about the area felt strange to everyone
Like almost familiar, but too creepy to want to be remembered
“Alright, An and Kohane go down that way, Ena and Akito this was, Nene and Mizuki,” Ken was pointing in different directions and called the groups so they knew where to go
Everyone got it at least and when he finished, everyone went their separate ways

An and Kohane were the first people to find a door to go in
“Here An, you stay watch and I’ll go in. I’ll be fine I promise”
“If you say so.. don’t take too long”
“I won’t!”
Kohane opened the door and started walking down the stairs before closing it
Now An’s panicked
‘Why would she close the door!? What if something happens to her!?’

An started tapping her foot until she heard the door open again after a little bit and Kohane walked out
“Was there anything in there?”
“Nope, just dusty and dark down there. Come on let’s keep looking”

Akito and Ena had walked up multiple flights of stairs and tried to open so many doors.. all of them being locked
“At least we didn’t have to look in the rooms, right?”
“Yeah but what if Toya was in one of said rooms!?”
“We would have heard something since you were banging on the doors pretty loudly”
“Yeah yeah whatever..”

The siblings kept walking and trying to open doors until one door finally opened
“THANK GOD!”
Ena stepped into the room and Akito stayed out slightly to make sure no one was coming
The room was nice
It was well kept and look like it wasn’t touched in years
The bed was neatly made and everything was placed nicely in its spot

“Hey Akit-MPH!”
“Ena!?”
Akito immediately ran into the room to see an unwelcome person holding a hand over Ena’s mouth and arms
She was kicking aggressively trying to get away but she couldn’t do anything
“Long time no see you two!”
“Arata.. shut the fuck up and let my sister go”
“Hmm but where’s the fun in that?”
“Let. Her. Go”
“Don’t think I will..”

Ena was looking at her younger brother with a horrified look in her eyes
She’s scared..
She rarely gets scared, it caused Akito to be a bit afraid himself
“What do you want!?”
“For both of you to be gone! You don’t realize how hard it was growing up without a dad!”
“Don’t make me laugh! We barely had one either. He hated us, he abandoned us when I was 5, Arata! You don’t get it! At least your mom stayed with you and you didn’t have to grow up on the streets”

Arata was shocked to hear that
He almost dropped Ena because of it, but she quickly caught herself and ran next to Akito
The youngest of the three had his hand hovering over his gun, but Ena quickly moved it away
She gave him this look
Like she knew what to do
She was determined to fix the siblings relationship

“Arata.. you didn’t know?”
“Of course I didn’t! Dad was really that bad?”
He sounded so pained, like he just saw his parents leave each other
“I keep learning new things today. Nothing was why I was told it was!”
“Arata..”
Ena took a step forward and reached a hand out to him but quickly retracted it
“He’s in the basement.. I know that’s why you’re here. Can you leave me for a second?”

Ena nodded and led Akito out of the room
“WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED!?”
“Akito.. listen to me. Arata is just as hurt because of Dad as we are. We should try healing out relationship with him”
“I-.. I’m not gonna fight you over it.. if that's what you want to do, you can try. I'm not gonna be apart of it”
“Akito-“
“I'm sorry I just don’t think I can forgive him so easily, Ena. You can try and be a sister to him, I’m not gonna try and be something I'm not. At least not for a while”
“I won’t force you.. come on let’s keep looking”

Chapter Text

An was running through the halls, making sure to hold the bag she had close so nothing fell out
She had to find someone quickly because Kohane went into a room and disappeared
An went to check on her and everything, she was just gone!
She was worried something bad could have happened to Kohane, since there was a noise that came from inside the room before she went to check on her, but she’s just more confused than anything

“You realize someone from the agency is working for Harumichi right?”
“Really?”
“Yes, so please keep an eye out. If anyone disappears report it to someone”
“You got it Dad!”

‘There’s no way.. she’s too nice.. someone just got to her! Yeah that’s it.. it’s probably like Mizuki or something, they barely ever help with work stuff.. they just sew’
An bolted to where the stairs that Akito and Ena went up
She’s just praying they’re still there

An was running through a hallway until realization hit her
She was lost
There were a bunch of doors lining this hallway, but An didn’t recognize a thing
Now that she thought about it, Kohane seemed to know where she was going
‘No she’s not the traitor.. Kohane has good instincts.. she’s fine’

An kept walking through the room before one door opened right as she was about to walk past it
A hand reached out and grabbed her hood before pulling her inside
“AH! WHAT THE HE-“
“An Shh! It’s just us!”
Sure enough, Tsukasa and Rui were both inside the room
“What are you guys doing in a dark room!?”
“Security cameras. Mizuki texted me and said they couldn’t find Nene, so we’re looking for her here”

‘Okay so it isn’t Kohane!’
“Dad told me if anyone went missing to say something because apparently the agency has a traitor.. I went to look for someone because Kohane also went missing..”
Rui started tapping his foot trying to think
“Come on we’ll go find Mizuki so they aren’t alone.. let’s go”

Ena and Akito were walking back down the stairs
Arata didn’t tell them where the basement was but they also have to find An and get the bag from her before finding Toya
“Where do you think the basement would be?”
“Bottom floor..”
“No shit!”
The two kept walking until they reached the ground floor

“So where do we start?”
“Umm.. this way?”
Akito pointed in one direction before Ena nodded and started walking the way he pointed
It wasn’t long until they sound a door, Akito went to open it and to his surprise, it opened really easily
“Here Ena hand me your flashlight,” she did as her brother said

There was a flight of stairs that led straight down
It wasn’t extremely high up but it also kinda was. If you feel down it would definitely hurt or possibly break a bone
Someone was at the bottom, Akito saw a silhouette at the bottom
“Hello?”
“MMPH!”
Akito kept walking down the stairs until he was able to somewhat see the person
“Is there someone down there?”
“Yeah.. TOYA?”

It was definitely Toya, his hair stood out too much for it not to be him
Akito ran down the rest of the stairs and next to Toya
“What- oh I should probably take this off your mouth,” Akito quickly untied the piece of cloth that was restricting Toya’s mouth
“Dude you look horrible…”

He was right.. Touya’s hair was a mess, his body was littered with cuts and burns, there was dried blood in his hair and on his clothes, and his back was just.. covered in blood
“Toya..”
“Qui-..et”
“What?”
“Keep your voice down! I-I don’t want him to hear you”
“Oh.. fuck I should untie you”

Akito was being as gentle as he possibly could
He was a little frustrated with the knots but he eventually got the ropes off his wrists and ankles
“Akito, is everything okay?”
“Yeah Ena! Go find An and come back here”
“Alright!” Ena quickly ran away in a different direction than the way the came
Akito took his jacket off and handed it to Toya
He looked cold according to Akito so he hoped it would help
“God, what happened?”
“Long story.. uh my father sucks,” Toya put the jacket on, really slowly since it hurt him to move
“No? Really? Here I have some bandages on me, let me see what I can do”

“What are you doing now?”
“What who’s the-“
“Kohane…”
“Precisely Toya”
The girl walked down the stairs and inched closer to where the two were sitting
Akito stood up in front of Toya somewhat defensive

“Wait, don't you work for the agency?”
“I’m a spy..”
“Kohane.. how.. why? Why would you work for my father of all people?”
“Oh come on Toya! The agency is boring as hell! Harumichi Aoyagi promised me something no one else could ever give me”
“And what was that!?”

“A life! I was stuck in a shell growing up because of my parents and was just this shy and cute girl. I never wanted that! I was never this cute girl I always wanted to be someone people would see in the hallway and run away from. I was sent as a spy to the agency and put on this nice girl act and made my voice higher than it is, just so I could live a little. Don’t you get that Toya?”
“What about An!? You two are so happy together..”
“I love her, I really do.. it’s just.. this is my life! I’m never going back to what it was. Now please, step away from Toya and no one gets hurt..”

Akito looked back at Toya
He looked like a helpless animal
He was shaking and had wide eyes
He was.. scared?
“Someone’s getting hurt then, I’m not gonna let you sick people hurt him any more..”
“Well then Shinonome..” Kohane pulled out one of those retractable bo staffs
Rui made it.. now it was being used to hurt someone on his side
In response, Akito pulled out both of the knives he brought ‘just in case’ even though he knew he would have to use then at some point

“It’s a fight for the Aoyagi then?”
“I guess it is..”

Chapter Text

Ena was frantically running down a hallway trying to find someone with absolutely no luck
“HELLOO!? IS ANYONE HERE!?”
“ENA IS THAT YOU?”
“YEAH WHO IS IT?”
“TSUKASA! RUI AND AN ARE WITH ME TOO”
“DON’T MOVE I'M COMING TO FIND YOU!”

Ena started following where the sound of Tsukasa’s voice came from
She luckily found them pretty quickly so that was good
“What’s up? Wait, where's Akito?”
“We found Toya! We went to go find you An because you have his stuff come on!”
Ena started running back the way she came, quickly followed by An
Tsukasa and Rui took a second to catch on but they eventually started following the two girls

It wasn’t long until they got to where Akito had gone
The door was wide open and Ena could somewhat make out what was being said down there
“Someone’s getting hurt then, I’m not gonna let you sick people hurt him any more..”
“Well then Shinonome..”
‘What?’
“I feel like I recognize that voice.. it’s so familiar”
An was starting to get really panicked, she doesn’t know what’s happening or if Toya or Akito are okay

“It’s a fight for the Aoyagi then?”
“I guess it is..”
“Wait a second.. Kohane already checked this room and said no one was in here..”
“She must have lied An..”
“Is she the traitor?”
An started rushing down the stairs
“AN WAIT!”
‘Surely it’s not her.. right? Right right yeah it’s not.. it can’t be..”

To her dissatisfaction, An saw the familiar blonde hair from the stairs
It cased An to freeze out of pure shock
“An you can’t just run into places like tha- is that Kohane and Akito? Are they… fighting?”
“An come on let’s go get Toya..”
“No. No no this can’t be happening..”
“An you’re panicking please calm down we need to help Toya”
“Y-you guys do that.. here take the bag I’ll be back”

An shoved the bag into Rui’s hands and ran back up the stairs and down a random hallway
“Was she.. crying?”
“Don’t question her.. let her have a minute. Here you two I’m gonna distract Kohane and help Akito, you guys try and help Toya”
“Why are we just ‘you two’ Ena?”
“Don’t question it now follow my lead”

Ena pulled out a very decorated knife
Like floral decorated knife with a fucking bow
“Why did you bring that?”
“Sharpest weapon I own, come on”
Ena quickly walked down the rest of the stairs until she reached the bottom
Toya saw her and shot her a concerned glance, which Ena quickly responded by putting a finger over her mouth in a ‘shhh’ way

Ena watched her brother visibly struggling and seeing one of the knives was when she decided was the time to intervene
“Hey, has anyone told you that you look like a hamster?”
“What!?”
Kohane quickly turned around to face Ena
The light pink glow from bother her outfit and the bo staff was very unthreatening, making her look almost like a child
“Did you just call her a hamster?”
“Mhm”

Ena quickly ran over to Akito, causing Kohane to follow her
Ena signaled to Rui and Tsukasa, who immediately ran over to Toya and helped him to his feet
It took Kohane a second to notice but Toya tripped on one step and it caused her to turn around
“Oi! Where are you-“
Akito quickly pulled his gun out an shot past Kohane to catch her off guard, she bright orange light hitting the wall
“Nice shot Akito..”
“I missed on purpose dumbass..”
“Don’t call me dumbass, dumbass!”

The siblings quickly started fighting with each other
“This is what I planned for..”
The siblings quickly turned around to face the blonde a few feet away
“Arata told me you two fight.. that’s your weakness..”
“Oh you did not just tell us how to be siblings.. Akito?”
“Ena, shall we?”
“We shall!”

Rui and Tsukasa sat Toya down on the floor while Rui pulled out a few tools and started working on Toya’s arm
“Do you know what was disabled?”
“No.. I was just told something was, but I can’t move it..”
“Yes, that was expected. You see how the blue is gone from it, that’s why it won’t work properly”
Toya hummed a response while Rui was working
Tsukasa was busy examining his wounds and things like that

“Are those cigarette burns..?”
“Yes.. it was a way to get me to talk..”
“Here Rui hand me the bag,” Rui did Ashe said and Tsukasa started searching for the first said kid and a water bottle
After pulling both of those things out, he opened the kit and pulled out a towel, putting the water from the bottle onto it

“It’s going to be cold so, just a warning”
Tsukasa put the towel into Toya’s neck which caused him to flinch, but quickly relaxing after
The blonde started applying pressure onto Toya’s neck
He’s done this before with the Shinonome siblings so he had recognized the burns immediately

“TSUUUUKAAAASAAAA!”
“Wha- Emu!?”
The pink haired girl came running up to the three guys sitting on the floor
“What’s wrong!?”
“Ken! He’s- Harumichi.. HELP!”
“What did you say?”
“She said Ken ran into Harumichi and is now fighting with him and he needs help”
“WHAT THE FUCK HOW DO YOU UNDERSTAND HER RUI!?”
“Come on, we have to go!!!!”
“We’re kinda busy!”

Toya waved to Emu who immediately started waving back, very over the top waving
“Here let me help! Your face doesn’t look very wah wah pow balm balm whaaaaaaaaa!!”
“Yeah no one else gets her.. Rui apparently does..”
“It’s not that hard! Oh here your arm is back up and running!”
“Thank you Rui”
“Also we have your stuff so you should change after Tsukasa and Emu are done with your injuries”

Toya nodded as Emu started cleaning his face with an alcohol wipe while Tsukasa was putting a bandage on his neck
“Holy shit is your head okay?”
“Hmm? Why do you ask? I feel fine though”
“There’s a shit ton of dried blood on your head.. here I’ll get that too then we can go”

Tsukasa grabbed the towel again and put more water on it before putting it on the area where the dried blood was
After about a minute he was done with that and he handed Toya the bag
“That’s all of your stuff. We’ll go down the hallway so you can change. We’ll be back”
“Thank you Tsukasa.. say I can’t quite put my finger on it but I feel like I remember you from somewhere.. like I knew you when I was younger or something..”
“Hmm that’s interesting.. keep thinking about it, maybe it’ll come to you! Come get us when you’re done Toya”

Chapter Text

An ran down a random hallway and threw herself into the nearest room
To say she was devastated was an understatement
She was trying not to break down ever since she saw Kohane and Akito fighting
The thought of her girlfriend being a traitor made her question everything
Like if they would be allowed to stay together or if Kohane even loved her in the first place

She sat down on a chair and quickly started sobbing into her hands
‘What am I doing wrong!? Why do I keep messing up and get attached to someone who just does more harm than good!?’
She started crying harder.. she wanted someone to be close to that won’t hurt her

From middle school friends, to highschool friends, to Arata, and now Kohane
“I-I wanna g-o home!”
‘I don’t just want to go home.. I want to go with Kohane! I want to act like this never happened and just go back to the agency and live normally!’

She really did
She wished she never saw Kohane down there
She wished she caught Kohane before she disappeared
She wished she didn’t fall in love so easily

“I-I’m such an idiot!”
An just sat there for a while, crying her eyes out
She hadn’t let her emotions out in a while.. it was kind of nice to just let it out
But under the current circumstances, this wasn’t how she wanted to let her emotions out

“Do you know where the others are Mizuki?”
“Nope, they texted me that they would come find me and- is someone.. crying? Nene follow me”
An started panicking, she didn’t want anyone to see her like this
She was supposed to be the strong one of the group.. this wasn’t how people were supposed to see her

An quickly stood up and ran over to a corner of the room
It was dark enough that you wouldn’t see her if the blue glow of her outfit didn’t give her away
“Helloooo? Is anyone in he- An?”
Mizuki stepped into the room and immediately noticed the faint tealish blue glow from the corner of their eye
“Hey what’s wrong?”
They slowly started walking towards her with Nene following behind

Mizuki knelt down next to An once they reached her and put an arm around her shoulder before glancing over at Nene who immediately got the message they were trying to send
She stood up and walked out of the room, standing by the doorway to make sure no one comes in
“You wanna talk about what happened?”
An couldn’t respond just yet, she was still crying a little.. just not as much as before
“That’s fine.. you can cry for a bit”

After about a minute or two, An calmed down
“Okay.. I-I’m ready.. it’s Kohane..”
“Is she okay?”
“She’s fine.. it’s just.. she’s working for Harumichi”
“So she’s the agency’s traitor Huh.. I’m sorry, I know you two were in love like IN love”
“But that’s the thing.. I don’t know if she even loved me or if she was trying to get information.. I’m so stupid!”
“You’re not stupid.. I truly think she loves you. It’s just a case of forbidden love”
“I just.. yeah that’s a possibility but what if it isn’t! I’ve been let down time and time again, the only people that haven’t left that I’ve known for a while are you and my dad! I just feel like an idiot! I can’t tell romantic and platonic feelings apart, and when they are romantic feelings I get my heart broken!”

“An..”
“No no it’s fine Mizuki.. thanks. Come on let’s go find everyone else”

Kohane was fairly certain she had the upper hand with how much the siblings fought with each other
Now
How the fuck was she in this situation?

She was currently focused on Ena while Akito was clearly attempting to attack from behind
She was stupidly tired as well
“Okay okay.. stop! I can’t do this anymore.. just you got Toya back now please give me a second to rest”
“Huh!?”
“I’m serious..”
Both Ena and Akito were staring at Kohane like she was crazy

“Are you seriously just gonna give up? Just like that!? You’re going to sit here and complain that you’re tired when you could have killed someone because you wanted answers? Or because you just wanted to live a little bit? What the hell!?”
“Akito calm down for a second”
“No I’m sorry but this is just bullshit! I don’t get why you need to take a break because you’re tired!”
“Akito I’m serious!”
“No shut up!”

The two siblings started fighting again
And because of that neither one noticed Kohane running up the stairs and pulling out her phone to call someone
“Yes sir they’re right where you wanted them.. mission 4 28 39 is a go..”
“WHAT?”
The door was quickly slammed shut, causing Ena to run up to it and try to open it

Nothing..

“God dammit Akito!”
“What do you mean me?! You were yelling at me!”
“Dude you got distracted and then distracted me! This is your fault and now we’re stuck in here!”
The yelling didn’t stop, not even when something started projecting on the wall and a very similar sound to Akito was heard

“Arata you can’t just run away from your problems!”
“Yes I can! You took everything from me.. now I’m taking it from you”
An came running through the door on the rooftop
“Arata what are you doing!?”
“Goodbye Akito.. thanks for fucking nothing”

5 steps closer

“ARATA GET AWAY FROM THE EDGE!”
“It’s been a hell of a ride with you and our stupid sister!”
“ARATA STOP YOU AREN’T THINKING WITH YOUR BRAIN!”
“Goodbye!

The three siblings were standingin the room staring at one another
"Arata.. why? Why did you have to lie to us like that?"
"To throw you off guard.. It worked didn't it? Now then, you guys came here for a fight didn't you?"
"Fuck, ENA WATCH OUT!"
Akito had to watch in horror as his stepbrother lunged towards his sister and lodge a knife into her shoulder
Her scream was nothing short of horrifying, Akito honestly couldn't speak and was barely able to move
The only thing that snapped him out of his trance was Ena shouting his name
He was quickly able to pull out a single kine and somewhat block Arata, although he did get scratched by the kife
"Arata seriously what is your problem!?"
"You guys ruined my life"
"And Dad ruined all of our lives!"

The sound of metal clanging and shouting was hear in and outside of the basement
The group walking past the basement didn't think much of it but a certian duel-haired boy was troubled by the noise
"Rui.. do you hear that?"
"Hm? Hear what?"
"There's yelling coming from the basement.. Akito and Ena are down there!"
"Toya wait don't you're gonna hurt your back more!"
"Toya stop we just put bandages on your back don't open your wounds!"
Toya wasn't paying attention to them and went to open the door to no avail
'What the hell is this door like superglued or something?!'

It eventually escelated to Toya slamming his shoulder into the door before giving up and shooting it
"WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!"
"It wouldn't open"
Toya quickly went through the door and down the stairs with quite a bit of struggle
His legs were screaming at him to stop whatever he was doing
They hurt like hell, even if he told Tsukasa and Rui that they were fine
From not walking for about two days and the various bruises and burns on them really made him not want to walk right now
A terrifying scream was heard at the base of the stairs
"ENA!? ARATA SHE'S ALREADY INJURED WHAT THE HELL!?"
Toya quickly ran down the rest of the stairs with Tsukasa, Emu, and Rui right behind him

"Toya stop running what- ENA?!"
Emu and Tsukasa quickly pushed past Toya to see Ena holding her shoulder and her side
The smeel of blood was so prominent in the room to the point where it was all you could smell
"Ena Ena oh my god Rui give me the bag please Emu help what the fuck happened Ena can you hear me?!"
Rui swiftly set the bag down and pulled out the first aid kit
"Emu, Tsukasa take Ena upstairs I'll be up there too, just give me a secong'
The two quickly scrambled to get Ena on her feet and up the stairs followed by Rui after a few seconds

A familiar sounding shout was heard from inside the basement, causing Toya to run to where it came from
To his suprise he saw someone who kidnapped him and someone else who kidnapped him fighting
It was pretty impressive to watch the step-brothers fighting, their movements seemed so fluid to Toya
It wasn't until a yelp was hear from the redhead that Toya decided he actually needed to do something
"Akito heads up!" Akito looked over at Toya who had his gun pointed straight at Arata who was trying to sneak up behind him
"Duck!"

Akito quikly hit the ground, causing Toya to hit Arata in the shoulder, catching him off guard
"Let's go!" Toya started running toward the stairs followed by Akito who had to scramble to get up
"AKITO GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE!"
The two quickly rushed through the broken door and slammed itbehind there
"Toya where's Ena?!"
"Tsukasa, Emu, andRui are helping her right now, she'll be fine Akito.. I promise"
Akito nodded and moved a hand to his shoulder just where he had gotten knicked by Arata's knife
"Here I think I have a bandaid on me let-"
"No it's fine.."
"If you say so.. Oh crap Emu said my father and Ken were fighting somewhere and needed help, come on we should look"
Akito slung an arm over Toya's shoulders and just looked at him
He wasn't mad. he wasn't dissapointed
He was concerned

"Toya, are you sure it's okay for you to be doing all of this dangerous shit? Dude you're still injured and we can't risk you getting hurt anymore"
"I'll be fine Akito.. and if I'm not, you can force out of fighting"
"Alright.. also thanks for saving my ass back there.. really helped me a lot"
"Ah, you're welcome," Toya found his face heating up at Akito's remark
Then he became very aware of how close they were in proximity and how he let Akito put an arm around him without saying anything and he was very aware of his face heating up in the miment and- dear god he's hopeless
"Dude you don't have to be embarrased by me saying thank you," Akito brought his hand up to Toya's head and ruffled his hair so that his bangs were covering his entire face instead of just one eye
Akito started laughing at the fact Toya's face got drowned by his hair when he didn't style it
Toya started laughing too
Akito's happiness was infectious, even in the strangest circumstances he could still make someone smile

"AKITO TOYAAAAAAAAAAAAA! HELLOOOOOOO"
Mizuki and An came running down the hallway with Nene trailing behind them
"Hey where's everyone else?"
"Helping Ena. Me and her kinda ran into Arata a few minutes ago"
"Is she okay?"
"Hopefuly she is. Oh yeah we need to go find Ken, he's currently dealing with Harumichi.."
An's face immedietly dropped
"Is he okay?"
"We're not sure,. Emu came running up to us earlier and said we needed to go help him. We kinda have to find him though"

An took a deep breath in before she became aware of the position Akito and Toya were in and the fact that Toya's hair was
"Okay what happened between you two?"
"Uhhhh-" both of them froze
Neither one had a good response and both were extremely red in the face
"Okay okay sorry about that kets go find my dad now"
"Yeah! Yeah let's do that," Toya started fixing his hair and Akito quickly moved his arm so it was no longer wrapped around Toya's shoulders
If Toya was being honest he somewhat missed the warmth from Akito, but now wasn't the time to think about that

Help Ken
Get Ena, Emu, Rui, and Tsukasa
And leave
Don't think about Akito
Easy enough, right?
