Chapter Text
Prologue
He thought things had been going great, all things considered. Amity park was finally safe, he could finally get some decent sleep, and the ghosts had stopped bothering him so much. Things were looking up, so how one Danny Phantom found himself running for his afterlife from some ghostly warrior princess he'd never know.
Quickly flying around the corner of a building and phasing into a closet he held his breath, listening as the crazy princess flew by shouting for him to come out so she could marry him. Yeah, no thanks that was not on his agenda for the day.... or the year for that matter. Sighing he slumped down running a hand through his white hair, this had all started nearly 2 weeks ago and it was getting harder to lose the crazy ghost. If he didn’t do something fast, he’d end up getting caught.
Leaning back against the wall he closed his eyes in thought. How to get out of this? frowning a bit, he wondered if maybe Clocky could help him? he'd at least know the right choice to make, provided he decided to not be vague and speak in only riddles.
Huffing, he sat up and mentally begged clockwork to help him, repeating the plea again and again. Yet 15 minutes later He was beginning to think maybe he was wasting his time as nothing had happened, not even one of his stupid little sticky notes appeared.
Groaning he flopped forward only to jump up, getting into a defensive stance as a swirling green portal opened in front of him a head of white and gold hair popping out with a playful boo!
"What the heck?!?! Diane? What are you doing here?” He asked incredulously seeing her float fully out of the portal. The ghost simply tilted her head and smiled.
"You called, didn’t you?".
Waving his hands around in exasperation he whisper shouted "yeah! For Clockwork!" All she gave him was a slightly amused look at this as she crossed her arms.
"You know how he is. He sent me to help, so how can I help?"
Sighing Danny slumped back running a hand down his face grumbling a bit before looking at the young ancient. "There’s some warrior princess ghost that’s been chasing me around the past few weeks attacking me demanding I marry her. I need to find some way to keep her off my trail until the deadline a year from now where she can’t try and marry me anymore. Honestly I’m willing to try just about anything at the moment, She’s been driving me that crazy!"
Humming Diane floated up a bit looking up in thought her spectral tail coiling around itself like a snake before she jolted her hair practically floating higher as she looked at him with a bright grin. "Oh! I have a great idea! Why not make phantom just disappear for a while?" At his bemused look she held up her hands still looking excited "No, seriously hear me out. If you shut down the portal, you won’t have to worry about the town being safe from ghosts and can trap miss princess back in the ghost zone. Then to make sure she can’t catch you, make yourself disappear with this cool new thing I recently learned to do. Hide out in a different dimension or wander around the zone for a while and before you know it the time will be up, and you'll be free!"
Danny blinked once, twice and looked down in thought. It had its merits, protect the town by closing off the portal and go on a bit of an adventure after losing crazy girl. "Hmmm sounds interesting. Although how do you plan to help me hide from her?"
Diane merely hopped up letting a pure white feather materialize in her hands, the feather being attached to an icy blue ribbon as she quickly recited a spell in the ancient’s language a soft white glow coming off the feather once she finished as she held it out to him smiling big. "Simple! Using this feather I can use one of my abilities to shapeshift you into a different form for a specific amount of time. I have this set for a year, so that when you do eventually change back, she won’t be able to go after you anymore. All you have to do is lure her back into the infinite realms, shut down the portal on your way through, and then once through put the ribbon around your neck. The spell will take effect immediately and you'll be free."
Smiling big she momentarily shapeshifted into a white hare hopping a bit in front of him as she seemed quite proud of herself. "She won’t be able to go after you in your new form and you’ll be free to wander around wherever you like, go on an adventure and just take a vacation while laying low for the year. Afterwards the spell will wear off letting you return to your true form, easy."
Danny looked at the offered feather a bit thinking over the idea as he looked at her. "Will the new form be cool?" She merely smiled more, returning to her true form as she nodded. Sighing he looked at the feather again before looking toward the wall determined some. "Alright then. operation Ghost the Crazy Princess is on!" Standing up he looked at her saluting some before flying out to enact his plan Diane merely smiling as she ripped open another portal and headed home an amused smile on her face.
He's a PHANTOM
Quickly flying out of his hiding spot Danny looked around before spotting the princess and quickly flying passed her whistled loudly. “You’ll never catch me crazy!” Speeding forward, he ducked and weaved between buildings dodging the princesses blasts as he flew for Fentonworks, making sure she was following as he grit his teeth just barely avoiding another blast.
He turned around blowing a raspberry at her before quickly phasing through the ground and into his basement. Scanning his hand on the pad for the emergency shutdown for the portal as he saw his pursuer follow him down. Grinning he waved as he shot into the portal the princess right on his heels. Seeing the portal close behind her he quickly floated back to make some distance. “The chase has been fun and all, but I really should be going now.”
Growling the princess just smirked as she raised her gun. “There’s nowhere for you to run anymore prince. I will have you as my husband!” However, before she could blast at him, he pulled out the feather as he held it up smirking some.
“Yeah, fat chance lady you really need to take a hint.” With that he quickly put the ribbon around his neck, the feather glowing brightly as he felt the spell take effect, his form shrinking and changing as when the light dissipated a small white fruit bat floated where he had once been. The princess shrieking in horror as she quickly darted away screaming leaving Danny behind as he slumped in relief.
“Ancients, I’m glad that worked." He tried to rub his face some with a hand only to realize it was now as a wing as he blinked. “……. A bat? She turned me into a bat. ……. I’m stuck as a bat for a year!?” Groaning he slumped before flying off in a random direction grumbling to himself. “Stupid! Should have known better! She’s supposed to be the guardian of hope, more like the guardian of being a little shit!”
Lost in his thoughts he didn’t end up noticing as a portal opened right in front of him. Not until it was too late as he fell through with a shrill squeak, wings flapping wildly trying to help him regain his balance as he was pelted by wind and rain, his white fur quickly getting drenched as he was thrown around and straight into the mouth of a gargoyle, perched among the eaves of a large gothic looking mansion. Shivering, he curled up tightly his drenched fur spiking up to stay warm as he stayed huddled in the makeshift shelter of the gargoyle’s mouth hoping the storm he was thrown into wouldn’t last much longer as he sighed and tried to get some rest. This was turning out less fun than he had been told it would be. But who knows maybe things would get better… first though. This storm needed to go away. And he needed to grab some info about this new world.
meanwhile
Clockwork watched this new development on one of his many orbs. Smiling a bit amused at Daniel’s predicament. “Going a bit on the nose there with the theme don’t you think?” He turned looking at his daughter as she smiled a bit mischievously.
“What can I say? It seemed fitting and besides he wanted to be something cool. What’s cooler than a bat? Especially with where he ended up.” She floated closer looking into the orb as well as she messed with her long hair some. “He’ll be safe there. Right?”
Clockwork only smiled a bit as he looked back at the orb as well. "All is as it should be. That’s all you or Daniel need to know.”
