Chapter 1: False's First Vist to Dawn

Chapter Text

I never felt safe without a sword in my hands. The comforting weight resting in my palms with the bright blue in my peripheral, I knew that with it, nothing could stop me.

So, when the princess from D̴̙̃awn invited me to her developing kingdom, I had to bring it with me. Having the diamond sword with me helped with the skepticism of Gem. For whatever reason, she refuses to kill anything. Won’t even touch a small salmon if her life depended on it. Anybody with such rules is a danger to everyone around them. What happens if something attacks?

Arriving at the kingdom of Dawn, the sense of dread sets in. It is too perfect, the sun is too bright, and the ruler is too nice. With the first steps in the kingdom, she starts to shower me with gifts. No doubt trying to bribe me into liking her, but It's doing the exact opposite.

“Hello! Welcome to Dawn, the kingdom of sun. I am Princess Gem, and I rule this place. It’s in progress right now, but I do have golden carrots for you! For free!”

She talks way too much.

“Um, thanks? I don’t have anything yet. Still trying to get set up.” I halfway mumble to her. Putting away the shiny carrots, she walks me to her barn. Grasping my sword closer when entering the barn. Never too safe.

“This is my bee barn. It has honeycomb, so when you get your trade started, you can just come in here and trade whatever you’ll have for some honeycomb!” She said with a massive smile, slightly bouncing on her feet.

“You really like bees.” I replied matter of factly. I did plan to work with copper but didn’t want her thinking she had something over me. I roll the weapon in my hand, assuring myself it was there. Maybe her persona is just a mask. She could try to release the bees and try-

“Oh yeah! Bees are my second favorite animal, only second to butterflies.”

Is she really talking about.. bugs?

“It’s just so cool how a little caterpillar can become a beautiful creature.”

The amount she talks is honestly impressive.

“In some ways, they can be a symbol of hope! Such small creatures who are able to pollinate like bees. Wait, sorry, off topic.”

This whole trip has been a waste of time.

“Right, bees are able to do such amazing things! While I have honey bees, there are many different species of bees, and they can do things such as-”

“I gotta head off. Have a cat I need to feed and all that.” I did feel slightly guilty for rushing out, but she was talking for too long.

Chapter 2: When the Buzzing Fades

Chapter Text

Grabbing some iron from my rushed little farm, I flew towards Dawn. Need the beeswax to stop my copper from aging in some places. The last visit was a disaster though, so I have to make this trip quick.

Just like last time something felt off about Dawn. At least this time the ruler didn’t try to harass me with facts about bugs. Unfortunately, she did realize I came back.

It was when I was trying to figure out how much beeswax was worth my iron. I mumbled out a few numbers, while looking at my sword. Had to watch the reflection to make sure none of the bees came close, when I heard,

“Oh hey, Welcome back! By the way, I never caught your name.”

She felt more human despite now having butterfly wings. “It’s False.” An indecipherable look flashed across her face, but she tried to quickly hide it.

“Whatcha doing here False?”

“Oh, um. Just passing by to grab some beeswax.”

As silence sat between us I started to fiddle with the rope on the handle of my sword. I need to re-tie it when I get back to base.

“If you have time, do you want to visit my greenhouse?”

Despite everything screaming at me to never come back I agreed to do so.

Not going to lie, the greenhouse was breathtaking. It clearly wasn’t finished, but what was there was amazing. Just taking the time to sit with Gem in the greenhouse was nice. Loosening my grip on my sword for the first time in Dawn felt.. good?

Looking at the ruler of Dawn, she was enticing. Her ginger hair fit per̴̻͝fectly with her monarch-colored wings, the pink dress was flattering on her, with her gold jewelry contrasting the rest of her very nicely, and her eyes are..

“I need to apologize for what happened before.”

She started fidgeting with the hem of her dress. Something bad was about to happen. Maybe she will try to assassinate me.

”I was too focused on myself, and I didn’t even ask for your name. What host does that?! Plus I can sometimes be too excited about my interests and don’t recognize the people around me. So I’m truly sorry.”

Waiting for it to be a trick, and it just wasn’t? She was genuinely sorry. This isn’t a ploy to ruin my whole life.

“Oh.”

“It’s fine you can leave now if you wish.”

“I like it here.” It surprised me with how genuine I was with my response. I mean it was a nice building but this kingdom is still unsettling to me. Maybe it is the prin- Nope we aren’t thinking that thought process..

"Oh, thank you."

As I talked to Gem it was more natural. She liked to lead conversations, but I was fine with just being a l̴̲̉i̶͇͊s̸͕̚ṫ̸͔e̵̻͒ṉ̸̍er. Her ramblings started to feel a lot like sweet honey instead of aggravating buzzing. While she was talking about how the roof design of her buildings represented the sun I started to stare. If she noticed she didn't say anything.

"Hey, your earnings are neat, can I take a closer look?"

She nodded and I scooted closer to her, practically in her lap, and found the earrings were sun shaped. They were very pretty; they fitted her perfectly. As I moved my hand to put them in my palms I let go of my sword.

Gem looked a little red but the sun was going down so it could have been that. WAIT, the sun is going down. How long have I been here? I arrived at roughly 3. Can't believe I lost track of time. Maybe she is trying to kill me by luring me into her beautifully decorated builds.

"Well I have to go, it is getting late. Dawn is looking quite beautiful, and I can't wait until it's finished."

"Well I was hoping you would stay the night, but I do appreciate the compliment."

She walked me out to the edge of her kingdom as we just made small talk, with her carrying most of it. Kind of felt like our thing. Some part of me begged me to stay.

At last she finally wished me off with "I had a great time today False! Maybe we could do this again soon? Did you get your beeswax?"

"Yeah, thanks for letting me have some."

"And thanks for the iron! Safe travels back, False," she spoke with a wave as I flew off.

Chapter 3: Dacing Flames

Chapter Text

Back at Cosmead, I dreaded sleeping due to recent dreams, so I just kinda sat at my workplace thinking about the day. Mindlessly sharpening my sword zoning out only snapping back to reality when "I will protect Gem if she ever gets in trouble" crossed my mind.

I've met her twice. I can't be letting my guard down that fast. Sure I would prefer to spend my time with her over doing anything else, but we are still strangers. Well, I'm not sure what we are but still.

Pacing around, I didn't want to sleep. I couldn't sleep with her in my mind. The way her wings fluttered when she wanted to tell something, how she literally bounced with joy, and she felt like a genuine person. And the way she looks, it is just perfect. Maybe she cursed me or something while I was there.

I have yet to see her brandish a weapon. She would look so pretty slaying all her enemies. Why doesn't she want to fight? She could just be a person who doesn't want to hurt anything. Which is almost more attractive than her fighting.

What am I saying? She isn't perfect or attractive. She is just Gem. Can't believe I can't get her out of my mind. Just need to clear my head somehow. I could work out my muscles and fight some monsters.

It always felt good to see monsters die. The way they crumble over a couple of swings. Fighting mobs is always just enough of a distraction to focus on something, but feels natural enough to relax. Spiders can be tricky, but you just have to be patient. Wait until they jump so you can step back, swing, repeat, dead.

Walking back inside I looked through my crafting bench to see what I could do, just stalling going to bed. Flipping through the pages of the crafting book I saw a recipe for string and beeswax: a candle. Crafting it and placing it down, but unlike a torch, it wasn't lit. Grabbing a flint and steel from my storage I got a brief headache which almost made me pass out. Odd, but not the weirdest thing to happen. I lit the candle and just watched the flame dance around

Chapter 4: False has a Panic Attack TW/CW

Chapter Text

Just sitting there in the middle of my storage hall watching as the flames melted the wax slowly when the flames died when there was nothing but liquid wax. Climbing up to my (soon-to-be working) flying ship all I could think about was how exhausted I was. When was the last time I slept, over 80 hrs ago? But no, that didn't matter. I need to recheck my supply of iron because a certain pirate keeps stealing all of it.

Opening the chest there was plenty of iron, but way too many roses. I had no idea what to do with any of them but they reminded me of Gem. Maybe because of her vibrả̷̙nt hair, her gorgeous dress, or her alluring wings. Throwing all but a stack away I flew right back to Dawn. It would have been a good idea to stay the night like she suggeste- wait..

"Was she trying to flirt with me?!?" I said asking the sky. The realization almost made me drop my flowers and make me fall out of the sky. Outside of that mini heart attack the flight was normal. Is what I would have said but I couldn't stop replaying her words over and over in my head.

Landing down at her fountain I saw myself and I looked awful. I mean I never really cared about appearances but something now made me want to be at least presentable and definitely not like I haven't slept in 4 days straight. In the middle of throwing my hair into a bun Gem walked up and said

"Whatcha doin' here Falsie?"

Falsie? Didn't know how to react to that.

"I'm just here to give you flowers for.. um, I don't really have a reason." The whole staying up for 4 days straight was not helping my attractiveness. Handing Gem the rose she held them so gently while admiring them. Not sure what to do with my hands I put them down to my sheath when I realized

I don't have my sword.

Trying to hide my heavy breathing, but it only got worse. Everything started to spin and I heard Gem talking but couldn't make out what she was saying. I need to stay strong for her. What if something is attacked? I need to protect her. I'm useless in this state. I'm useless I'm useless I'm usel-

Gem put her hand on top of mine showing her a wet rag. She gently put it onto my forehead. She was talking in such a soft manner, but I couldn't focus on her words when it felt like I was floating. She took off the rag and dipped it back into the fountain. When reapplying the rag she got up taking my arm offering to bring me somewhere. Hating to rely on her for doing something as basic as walking only amplified my heartbeats, but there was nothing else I could do. I trust Gem.

She sat me down on top of a bed and went to her crafting room. She came out with something vaguely blue and handed it to me. A diamond sword. Focusing on the way the light reflected off of the material, feeling the weight of it in my hands. Looking at Gem, who was sitting right next to me, started talking. Trying my best I read her lips to understand her very roughly.

"never made one.. it's not your original.. I hope you're okay, False."

Processing her last words made me tear up. What just happened? There were so many emotions I couldn't process. My brain automatically removed one of my hands from the sword and placed it on hers. While she rubbed her thumb across my hand I apologized to her,

"I'm sorry I made you waste two diamonds. Whatever came over me isn't normal. It's just tha-"

"You don't have to apologize for anything. Just get some sleep."

Gem spoke softly to me as I fell asleep resting my head on her shoulder hand in hand.

Somehow I woke up in my own bed, but that isn't even the strangest part. tick tick My walls were covered in clocks. tick tick Just hundreds of tick tick tick tick Someone must have pranked me or something. tick tick I've made up whole blueprints in my head before but haven't been able to place blocks while I was knocked out. tick tick I need to get out of here. tick tick

Flying into my iron farm I try to get that horrible noise out of my head. Looking towards the front of the ship I see what land I have around my main base and start to sketch out some town concepts.

"HEY FALSE!!"

Of course, when I'm trying to take some time for myself to farm some resources the loudest member of the server comes around.

"Hi, Sausage."

"So I saw you trying to farm up some leaves and had some spare around so these are yours now." He handed me a shulker full of leaves which was very nice of him but..

"What do you want in return?"

"Just need a stack of iron ingots. About to do some mechanical stuff!"

Rifling around in my storage for iron I build up the courage to ask,

"Have you ever been in love?"

"Well I've had a few lovers, are you asking to be one? I mean they normally are men, but I wouldn't mind."

Taking a split moment to realize what he said. I yank my head out of my chests with my cheeks redder than redstone.

"What?!? Nonono, I don't like you. I mean I think you're a cool person but not like that. Asking about someone else."

"Soooo who are they?"

"She is none of your business; just answer my qu-"

"SHE? So it's down to 4."

"I'll just deal with this by myself."

Handing him a stack I try to shoo him off.

"Oh! My friend Shelby has a crush on Kathrine if you wanna do girl talks. Wait, should I have told you that? Your crush may be one of them."

"Yes, yes that's all very lovely, thank you," I say while actively pushing him out my door.

Chapter 6: False and Shelby Bond Over Being Enby Women Lovers

Notes:

aka i share my False/Shelby queer headcannons

Chapter Text

Can't believe I'm taking that absolute clown's advice. I knocked on the mysterious witch's door; I've been here before, but it looked very different. Last time, I just needed a bit of blaze power. Maybe she did curse me when I was here to make me fall in love. She set Sausage up to direct me here; this is where she kil-

"Hello, who's here?"

"False, False Grand Architect of Cosmead."

As the door swung open a bubbly face greeted me.

"Yeah, Sausage told me about you."

"I didn't come here for girl chats or whatever. Do you have a potion to undo attraction?"

"Um, I'm not sure, but you're welcome to come on in while I try to find one."

She stepped aside showing the inside of her home. Seeing the opportunity, I held the sword Gem made. Despite the dulled blade and slightly off-centered handle, I felt the most comfortable with it. When I walked in I was prepared to have to fight a hundred vexs, but I just heard from behind me,

"You can just rest your sword by the door if you wish."

The comment only made my grip tighter. She was definitely trying to catch me off guard.

"But it's also alright if you want to keep it on you. I can't go anywhere without my hat so I understand!"

She let me keep it? Well, anyway Shelby has to learn not to underestimate me.

Sitting down at her table she went upstairs. Then something blurred moved past me in my peripheral. Looking for it, sword in hand, I saw it run past again. Then with a croke it landed right in front of me. I was stunned to see a purple frog sitting right in front of me.

"Alright, I found my spell book up there," Shelby said as she was climbing down.

"HEY, Tortoise, you aren't supposed to be on the table."

The purple frog quickly jumps on top of their owner's hat as the witch sits down across the table, maybe making distance in case of explosions?

"So, why do you want a love spell, who are you gonna use it on?"

"I don't want to make someone fall in love with me, more like fall out of love."

"Never heard of a case like this, but fear not, Great Witch Shelby will solve the case.. after some reading."

As she flipped through the pages of her massive book I sat in silence. I've never hated silence, but if I get her to start talking maybe she wouldn't be able to scheme while she is in her own world.

"What's up with you and Kathrine?"

Can't believe I'm taking Sausage's advice. Shelby looks up in surprise, clearly not expecting me to talk. Just as I figured, scheming.

"Well if I find the spell you're looking for I could use it on Pirate Joe who is also in love with Kathrine. I must thank you because I would have never guessed solving my feud with him through magic was even an option."

She admitted to, partly, scheming so half right?

"How did you figure you liked her in the first place?"

I started to notice I  just couldn't take my eyes off her. Everywhere I go I imagine her with me, find little things that remind me of her, and just small stuff like that builds up after a while. What couple are you trying to break up, if you don't mind me asking?"

Taking a split second of silence to decide whether or not to answer truthfully and decide to say..

"Sausage. I want him."

"Assumed he was only into men to be honest, though he does have an overwhelming admiration for whatever religious figure he worships. What do you see in him, no offense to Sausage."

A sinking feeling set inside my stomach at this point. Maybe I need to tell Shelby the truth, but if I do she could hold that against me. On the other hand, I do know where she lives in case I need to silence her.

"Look, I lied about Sausage. I like Gem, and I hate how it feels."

When I told her I was lying she stopped flipping through her book and just kinda stared at me. Trying to see if I was an easy kill?

"Well, that was a quick turnaround. Gem is quite pretty, but not my type. If it gives you any comfort I know she is biromantic."

Biromantic? Never heard that word. Of course, I can't recall a lot but still. Shelby must have noticed my confusion and explained,

"Biromantic means that a person is attracted to two or more genders. I think in Gem's case she is attracted to all."

"What are you then?"

"I am a lesbian who is just a non-man who likes other non-men. In my current situation, I'm just a person who likes a girl, but can include people who don't identify as a man or woman."

That's certainly a lot of information all at once.

"So you are able to be not a guy or girl?"

"Yep! They are called non-binary, sometimes shortened to enby. I personally am genderqueer and go by all pronouns."

"How do you know any of this?" For all I know, she is completely bullshitting me. Though the concept of not having to be a woman or a man is intriguing.

"Well when I figured out I liked women I felt really alone, so I found books about sexuality/gender. Reading them helped me feel more normal."

"Well, what am I?"

"The only person who can decide that is you. It's also perfectly fine if you rather not go by labels and just be False, y'know."

Well yeah, I could just be False, but I don't know who False is. I don't remember anything about my upbringing, parents, or really anything. All I can remember clearly are memories from after I woke up in that cave. Maybe figuring this stuff out will help me remember my past?

"Well I like Gem, but that's about it."

"So if you like Gem do you still want to undo your crush?"

Do I? Having a crush is pretty useless, but she could help to fig̵̮̈́ure out my past. Being able to call myself "Gem's partner" would be nice.

"How do you ask a girl out?"

"I assume you go up and ask her if she wants to date you after doing something sexy and heroic. At least that is what I personally would want; she might want something different, but I don't know her well enough to say."

Should I ask her out? What would I gain and/or lose from getting a partner?

"I'll consider it."

Chapter 7

Summary:

False and Gem on a sort of date when the rift opens

Chapter Text

Working on the community around the main base trying to ignore how I asked Gem to come over soon. What if she hates me? She will probably never come. Whatever I don't care, why would I? Dammit, I can see her heading my way.

"heeeEYY FALSE!" Gem screamed, only getting louder as she got closer. As she landed on the ground I quickly cleaned off all the wood dust from my hands as she situated herself.

"I didn't think you would come."

"Of course, I came. It would be impolite to reject your invitation, plus I just like being with you."

Right, I did invite her, why did I do that?

"So whatcha invite me over for?"

Right, I don't have a plan. Why didn't I have a plan? I should have made one. I could take her to the airship.

"Here, follow me."

No, I shouldn't because it doesn't even work. Just let her in the base. What if she finds the villagers? Well, I don't have anywhere else to go.

As we walked towards the main structure of Cosmead I noticed how different we were. It seemed like she was almost jumping on clouds with every step while I was conscious of every little movement. Looking over at her she looked silently at some of the structures.

"I'm not done with a lot of it so."

"Hm? Oh, nono your building looks amazing, I'm not sure what to say."

Opening the doors she looked around seemingly impressed. Not sure why because there were holes everywhere and a large portion was just framework and barebone walls.

"This is amazing Falsie! Although I can see a lot of people falling down this pit."

"Yeah that's a work in progress right now but you can come down here to the storage."

Gem walking down into the base made her seem extremely out of place. The vibrant pink of her dress contrasts the white walls. I silently thanked myself for remembering to take down the sign above my workshò̸̥̍p before starting to build.

"Woah this is all very cool. I absolutely love your base!"

"Oh um, thanks?" I couldn't shake it but something felt wrong. No matter, I have this beautiful woman here, I should be happy.

"Oh, I brought you a drink if you would like some. Ever since I opened up my tavern I've been experimenting with drinks. This one is my favorite and it tastes just like honey with the sort of sting of a bee with the alcohol."

Taking it I placed it on my workshop table so I wouldn't forget about it. Holding it in my hands I felt like I shouldn't be accepting this.

"Well if you provided drinks I could get some food and we could go eat by the riverbed?"

"Oooh, that sounds lovely."

I feel guilty for grabbing my sword after collecting some food. Something about this wasn't right. If she turns on me I have to be ready. She could be hoping to get me drunk to lower my reaction time, or something could be after her and she is luring it to me. I can just feel that this is all about to go wrong.

Arriving at the riverbed everything was calm. Gem looked liked painting while waiting, admiring the scenery around her.

"Hey, I got the food."

Looking around to face me she smiled and said,

"Thanks, Falsie!"

I mean she seemed genuinely happy to be here, and everything was peaceful. Setting down the shulker of food I started to organize the food out on the grass.

"Oh, you still have that sword? Sorry, it's not the best sword but I could give you the diamonds to make a better one."

"It's alright. This sword is my favorite anyway." Why did I say that?? Now she is going to think I don't know anything about fighting. Or she realizes that the reason I like it is that she made it which proves to her that she has something over me. This sucks.

I noticed she wasn't saying anything unusual. I glanced up at her and it looked like she was blushing. But the alcohol hasn't been open? Moved the shulker aside and sighed to try and break the silence.

"So Gem, what would you like?"

She took some of the pumpkin pie and quietly said thank you.

"What's on your mind, you're very quiet today."

"Nothing much, just admiring the beauty."

Everything was off. I went to grab an apple and then we both heard a crash

"Wha- where am I?" someone muttered in a soft Australian accent.

Chapter 8: Too Many Visitors

Chapter Text

A lady wearing a beautiful green dress walks into view, looking very confused.

"Gem?" she asked out. Turning to Gem, she looked terrified but attempted to hide it.

"Gem, where and what is this place? And how and why is False here?" How does she know me? I should be asking her these questions. She thinks she can just walk into my kingdom, ask all these invasive questions, and ruin my dat- wait was this a date?

Right focus on keeping us safe right now. Grabbing my sword, I pointed it directly at her, making sure she wouldn't move a muscle.

"This is Cosmead, and I've lived here for a few months now. In fact, I'm the one who started this place. Now I don't know why Gem is scared of you, but you better get out of my sight right this instan-"

"Alright, alright, just some clarification. I don't know this woman." she gestured towards the green dressed lady, and she looked even more confused. "But I can and will bring her to Joel. He has the most recognizable base, so if she gets lost, she can always go back to Stratos."

"What do you mean you don't know me? I'm Pearl, the Cleaning Lady, the person you base with."

Aliens and cleaning? This Pearl person is definitely strange.

Gem started to kinda pull Pearl along partly by grabbing her arm. They definitely looked like close friends who were sort of fake dragging someone along.

"Sorry I have to leave you False, I promise I'll make it up to you."

Trying to distract myself, I went to polished up the new saloon I built. Unfortunately, distracting myself only made my thoughts worse.

One of them is lying to me, but why would Gem lie to me? Where did Pearl come from? They looked like they were close. Close as in friends or something more?

And then I saw it. A massive tower that I don't remember building. I mean, granted, I've gotten ideas without remembering the source; never have I built something without remembering, though. The tower has the windows blocked, so I couldn't see inside.

Walking back to my base, trying to figure out if I even built it, I felt a sort of ripple through my body and something whispering.

I couldn't quite make out what it was, but as soon as it came, it was gone. Collecting some materials, I decided to add onto the strange tower. If the other empires made it, then building off of it might show that I respect them and they shouldn't hurt me. At least whoever built it made it in the right theme.

After finishing up a second tower and a bridge connecting everything together, I realized that if it was on my land, I should be able to modify it. Deciding to tear down a wall from the inside of the bridge, I equipped my ax in hand. As soon as I made contact, a shock of not quite electricity shot through me along with a massive headache. Alongside the headache, it felt like my whole brain just glitched, and then I lost cautiousness.

Wrapping my hand in bandages, I realized I was back again. Looking around, there was a pile of bloody glass shards and empty cracked glass bottles right beside me.

"What happened?"

I need to know what's going on. Something feels off. I need to hide. Something was compelling me to go into town. Walking into the saloon, one of the rooms was covered in a blue translucent substance. I automatically felt a wave of relief knowing what I needed to hide and choose to bord it up until I had the proper supplies.

Climbing up into the upper levels of the saloon, I started to sketch out a concept for bar designs. When I heard a strange man walking past.

"Wonder if the saloon is still open?"

I looked up and saw a basic looking guy with some diamond glasses and an @ on his shirt.

"Oh, howdy! I was wondering if I could stay for a little while."

"Well, the rooms are undergoing cleaning right now, but I do have a space."

"Do I have to spend any diamonds because I don't have any?"

"What's your name?"

The shine reflected on his glasses, so I couldn't see his eyes, but his mouth twitched just slightly, but he decided to reply anyway.

"Joe of the Hills, from Nashville, Tennessee."

Well, I didn't ask where you were from, but sure.

"Well Joe, I do have an extra room, but at the moment, it hasn't been renovated. If you can't pay in diamonds or a trade item, I do need someone for a job."

He nodded politely and allowed me to lead him to the tower. I climbed up with him to the second floor and showed him the very empty room. I motioned him to follow me to the balcony and pointed towards the locked door.

"I just need someone to watch that door. Documenting who is able to enter that room and how they enter the room. Also want to know how they leave."

"Well, I can certainly do that for you. Thanks for the free room, and not to worry. I'll take my free time to do some decorating."

Chapter Text

So I'll be real, I am very new to writing fanfiction. Normally, I'm pretty good with consistently writing, but chapter 8 absolutely ruined my motivation for this fic.

I thought about it, and I guess I just don't like re-writing cannon events. My motivation was fine until I got to the part with Joe Hills because that was completely cannon.

Just overall, my thoughts about empires False have changed. I still agree with how I characterized her, but one of the biggest differences is the listener headcanon. At first, I had this idea where hermit False was a listener, but transferred all of her powers (along with trauma) onto empires False. I don't think it's wrong, but I want some time to think about the implications and effects if either of them were listeners.

Plus, I feel like you can really tell I did not plan this through whatsoever because I have missing threads and useless scenes absolutely everywhere. I had a start and an ending, but then I really screwed myself with the middle part. I thought of scenarios that could've been better as oneshots and just shoved them in without considering the whole story.

My original plan for chapter 9 was going to be empires False hiring Sausage to spy on hermit false and all of that. With a little bit of empires False genuinely caring for Cosmead to really establish it more than just the one paragraph. But all of that is cannon stuff. And I dreaded even starting to write.

So I'm not writing that because if I do, I will never finish this fic, and that just doesn't seem fair.

I will be posting a final chapter 10 (I think I can fit it into one chapter)

TL;DR - I don't have the motivation to write this chapter, so I'm skipping it because it would've just been a written form of cannon. Just pretend this chapter has cool sausage and empires false interactions, and more of False just looking after Cosmead. I still will make an ending, though.

Notes:

I actually already have chapter 10 done. Just want to revise it a bit, so it will be out very soon!

Waking up, I had no idea how much time had passed. Frantically looking around, I find the date being months ahead of when I last checked it. Looking around my base, I make sure everything is fine when I spot False's tower.

Is she still here? I forgot where I left that keycard. I just woke up; everything around me is still blurred as I start to actually wake up. Grabbing a piece of TNT and a lighter, I rush to the tower entrance.

The bottom part blew open. Searching the bottom floor as fast as I can, there is a notebook replacing the one Sausage stole. Flipping through it, it consisted of just notes. But then I saw how she wrote about how they were leaving for Hermitcraft. The fastest way of leaving is via flight, so I rushed up the tower. On the way, I spotted a crudely made torture room.

Flying towards Hermit-topia, thoughts of her torture came back to the surface.

"She's not experimenting again, is she? There's no one else in trouble is there?"

The memories came back so intensely that I almost fell out of the sky. No, I have to get her.

Hermit-topia came into view, and the first thing I spotted was that weird robot's face blown to smithereens. Looking down, there was the remnant of battle and something moving? Gem was walking away towards what looked to be Dawn. It doesn't matter right now. I have to get her. Flying onto the stage, I climbed into the rift, and a familiar, unpleasant feeling was reawaken.

When arriving on the other side of the rift, I had everything in my inventory that used to be mine. Suited out with all netherite and a few potions. One thing that made it through the rift was the diamond sword. maybe because I was holding in my hand when I went through, but whatever. I have it now.

Looking through an ender chest, I found in the base I grabbed an elytra, rockets, and golden apples. Flying out of the cave, I went directly to False's snow-capped mountain. On my way there, over the shopping district, there were many more players walking around, but I was too far away to see specifically who. Plus, I needed to deal with her before anything else.

Arriving at her base, I sipped a potion of strength, changed my elytra to a chest plate, and equipped a shield. Anything could happen now. The other False came out with her own gear. Similar looking armor, but she held an axe and cross bow in hand. No doubt having her own set of potions lined up.

"Why are you back here?"

"I can't let you hurt anyone else."

"I'm protecting everyone else from you."

"That's your excuse for wiping my whole entire life?"

"The interests of many outweigh the interests of one."

She shoots a shot, but it flies past my head. Just a warning shot. As she is reloading with a tipped arrow, I throw down a potion of harming. She stumbles back a bit, clearly not expecting my first move to be so fast. Unfortunately, she recovers all too quickly and starts to sprint towards me with an ax in hand.

Why would she go for an axe crit when she knows I have a shield? She jumps up and slams her weapon down onto the shield, knocking it away from me, then immediately shoots an arrow straight into my shoulder. I could feel all my muscles start to burn, weaknesses arrow. Stepping forward, I swing with my sword, but the armor seemingly absorbs all damage.

"An unenchanted diamond sword? I taught you better than this."

Swinging again towards the gap between the legging and chest plate; missing the hit because she sidestepped to hit my forearm. Taking a few steps back, I was out of her range. Baiting her to shoot an arrow, I threw up my shield. While she reloads, I consume a golden apple as fast as I can. Despite feeling better, my blood was all over the snow beneath me.

Looking through my potions, I had a few potential useful ones. And one I couldn't recognize. A splash potion with a grayish liquid. That's when it all clicked.

"I made the amnesia potion." The disbelief came through in my tone.

"It wasn't just your creation; we ma-"

"I did EVERYTHING, only for you to STEAL what I made, and throw me AWAY like rubbish."

She starts running up to me, looking like she was trying to get another hit in. I won't let her hurt anyone else. I have to stop this. Throwing down the amnesia potion, I could feel my thoughts being eaten away; my body shutting off. Looking up to her, I expected to see her in such a pathetic state. Instead, she was wiping something away with a bucket in hand. She couldn't have.

"Still getting overwhelmed by your own feelings? What else should I expect from a defect?"

Breathing started to get harder and harder; the lack of oxygen at this altitude wasn't helping. She walks straight towards me as I lay helplessly in the snow.

"Despite everything, I am your creator, so maybe it was always my fault. But as the person who created you, I can not bear to kill you."

Taking off all my armor, she set it aside and took my shield. I fought with all my energy to hold onto that sword, I can't even remember why. Something deep inside of me told me I couldn't let her have it. She shrugged and carried my limp body over to a tree, propping me to look at the sky. She just walked away silently.

As the sun set, I saw something in the distance. I only just registered that someone was flying towards me when a half deer half human landed directly in front of me.

"Falsie, are you okay??" The voice was so familiar, but my memories were so far away. When I heard it, all I could think about was protecting someone or something.

"False, please respond." There was a desperation in her voice, but I was clueless as to why. A prickling sensation was consuming my body as frostbite was setting in. All I could do was move my arm with the sword in it and let go as it fell into the snow. Was it some kind of offering to her? The deer hybrid then grabbed my hand and squeezed them as tight as they could. Snow was covering both of us, but there was a certain calmness I could feel while in her hands.

Then I closed my eyes, never to open them again. As I could feel my hands getting colder and colder as cautiousness crawled its way out of my body.
