Chapter 1: Jack’s background

Chapter Text

I am Jack dalton I am 35 years old and just moved to San Francisco from Texas. I have a younger sister named Jess and an older sister May. My family is fairly close in a strange sort of way.
I'm a former CIA agent, I had been with the company for 7 years. When I was 18 years old I joined the Army, where I was proud to serve my country for 10 long years. I was part of an elite team called Delta. Even as part of a team I learned to rely on myself in difficult situations. To this day I like to keep to myself and don't get close to many people. I learned that having close friends by your side was also a easy way to get hurt in the long run.
After leaving the CIA because of my unique stand on not taking shit from people who just sit on their asses and do nothing, I joined a government agency called the phoenix. I actually was recruited by my former CIA handler Matty Webber who also left the company on bad terms. The phoenix is a hush hush organization where we take down head honchos in the criminal world. Even though I love my job I was skeptical at first to join the phoenix. I wasn’t sure if I wanted a job where I had to keep my identity a secret (even from my family), but the offer was to good to turn down. I got to do what I love most, get the bad guys off the street and kick ass.

I moved to San Francisco last year for a fresh start. Leaving Texas was difficult because my family ranch is there and I always saw myself settling on that ranch when my career came to an end. Life had other plans though. I found myself madly in love with a lady named Diane that I originally met in high school. We started dating right before I joined the Army. We had big plans that I would do my duty then come home, get married, and live on the ranch. After becoming a overwatch I decided to stay for another tour. Diane and I did get married on my fifth year anniversary of joining the Army, even though she wasn’t happy about my decision to re-up. I was sent to Afghanistan shortly after the wedding and things fell apart from there. After many twists and turns in the relationship, and bad decisions on both our parts, we divorced realizing we just couldn’t make it work. It seemed we did better when I was away more then when I was home. I pushed myself into my career and tried to forget the past, but living in the same town wasn’t easy, even when I traveled a lot. Watching the person you love get married to someone else was my last straw so when the call came in from Matty to relocate to San Francisco for a long undercover assignment and leave my past in Texas, I was game.

This assignment has me going undercover in a military school. I will be a guard/disciplinarian. I actually find that job title ironic because I was a little terror as a child. I gave my poor parents so much trouble that they would never believe I would grow up to be a strict, rule following kind of guy. Of course it’s not who I really am, but they don’t know that. As far as my family is concerned I am a military liaison who has been transferred to work in the military academy. My mother swears to this day that I broke more rules then any children at the academy put together. My mother is a precious lady, she is the sweetest person you would ever meet, but she was also strict. Pops and ma wanted the best for my sisters and I, and they worked their asses of to give it to us.

Dad was a military man, even after he left the service he was still military. My father was a firm believer in family values and taught his children to be respectful and obedient. He also had a huge heart and took time to let us know he cared. I may have given my parents a hard time growing up but I admire them both greatly. It took a firm hand to keep me in line. Pops hardworking persona and tough love attitude is what helped make me the man I am today.

It’s days like today that I think back on my parents. I just did my first tour of the military school I will be working at. It’s called Maples academy. The school is strict(obviously), heck when I thought of a military school, I thought of young kids learning about the military and preparing for a military future. This school is a no-nonsense, do as I say or else school. Seeing all the young men in uniforms being taught to follow a schedule to the T, or else, gives me more respect then ever for my parents.

As I said I caused trouble when I was younger, but whatever I did, I knew I had my parents love no matter what, here at this school there is no parents. The boys have leaders that are to be obeyed at all times or suffer the consequences. Punishments for the boys makes me sick. There is normal restricted to their rooms or early bed times, but then there are extreme harsh punishments. Me being the guard/disciplinarian, I am responsible to dish out these consequences, however my real assignment is to find out any information on the head of the academy. A man named James Macgyver is supposedly a former captain in the navy who now leads the school, Informants however say the man is a genius who is working with a terrorist organization to recruit minors to form a Army against the USA. The group builds and sells weapons. He supposedly uses the academy as a cover up to make the weapons, and send them out to other countries. The students that help the cause as it’s called are treated golden, other students fully think it’s a normal academy. As far as I can tell, the academy looks legit, but as I learned years ago looks can be deceiving.
