Chapter Text

As the month of December came and went and the month of January soon began people of all ages welcomed the new year. It was a new chance to grow, a new chance to learn, and a new chance to start things over on a fresh note. To allow them to move beyond what they were the year before and take their newfound future in their hands. And no group captured this better than one which would soon hold its first meeting. But on this day as many of its earlier members got ready for with ease others seemed to be feeling a bit more excited.

Such was the case with one of the group's newfound members. As currently he was happily dragging his sister across the park area of Hagukumi City to a familiar looking shop. “Common Oneechan!!” The young boy spoke out in a very happy tone as his sister smiled a little although being pulled at the speed she was made her a little dizzy. “Mitsuki!! Slow down, we're not gonna be late!” Hana yelled to her brother but to no avail until they made it to the front of the shop. The shop was rather odd, seeming more tree house inspired than anything else but with the sign reading Beauty Harry showed it was a place of business. Although one as odd at times as its owner who greeted the two as they made their way to the shop.

“Oi Hana! Mitsuki! Good Morning!” Harry said as he waved with one arm as he carried a small blonde haired baby in the other who waved to the duo as well. “Good Morning Harry San! Good Morning Hugtan!” The boy says enthusiastically as the two smiled as the man gave a slight smirk with Hana as she dizzy tried to regain footing after being let go of by her brother. “Seems like you two are excited.” Harry says jokingly as Hana sighs. “Mostly, Mitsuki. He couldn’t wait to get here.” Hana says as the red haired man nods. “Ruru Oneesan!” Mitsuki called happily as the door to the business opened and out popped a girl with glossy purple hair wearing a purple and white dress. She gave the boy a surprised look.

“Mitsuki. What are you doing here?” She questions. “I am here for the meeting!” Mitsuki says enthusiastically as Ruru looks and giggles a little. “But, the meeting is not for another two hours though.” Ruru says as Hana and the boy look up and with a shocked expression utter the phrase they now both say in these situations. “Mechokku!” They shout loudly enough for all the birds in the trees in the area to soon fly away.

After the shock of that though the two had entered the business to relax with Harry and Ruru. While Mitsuki seemed disappointed he was too early and even apologized to his sister he still had a fun time talking with the others about random things here and there until three others arrived, one a girl with blue hair, one a girl with auburn hair and the last a girl with blonde hair. As they came in and both getting the courtesy hug from the young boy, which the blonde especially accepted happily, they sat down and began to chat. “So then Mitsuki San are you ready for today?” Saaya questions as the boy nods up and down excitedly.

“Yep! I can’t wait! I almost couldn't sleep last night!” Mitsuki says as Hana nods. “Yeah I fell asleep at 12:00 just to try and put him to sleep.” Hana says as Saaya giggles as Homare gives her friend a smirk. “Oh so it’s his fault you go to bed around that time normally?” Homare questions as Hana looks up and blushes. “Mechokku.” She says as she looks down. As she does though, Emriu puts down her morning tea and gives Mitsuki a curious look. “What are you most excited about today, Mitsuki San?” She questions as the boy looks to her and hums in though. “Oh, it’s that I get to meet all the other members! I mean I did last year during the party but this will be my first meeting with them!” Mitsuki says happily as Homare smiles with a euphoric bliss.

“So adorbs!” She says as her friends giggle at her but Saaya gives the boy a kind smile. “That’s great Mitsuki! I am sure you’ll make lots of friends.” Saaya says as Mitsuki nods but soon he seems to remember something as he looks down a little. “Mitsuki? What’s wrong?” Hana questions as the boy looks up and frowns. “I..I am worried about meeting the other Pretty Cures in this group. What if they are still mad at me for what I did as Miden.” He says as the group frowns at the boy's sadness before they smile at the boy.

“Hey don’t get down like that. I am sure the others hold nothing against you.” Homare says kindly. “They will definitely understand you.” Saaya says. “Quite true, Mitsuki, you have nothing to worry about.” Emiru says encouragingly. “The others are just like us, Mitsuki. They have their own demons in their past and they will definitely accept you for who you are.” Ruru says. “Yeah you have nothing to worry about Mitsuki! Hooray Hooray Mitsuki! You got this!” Hana says happily as Mitsuki was silent to all this kindness and love before he broke out into the largest smile the girls had seen from the boy.

“Thank you everyone! I love you all!” Mitsuki says happily as he hugs each one of the Hugtto girls as they happily accept. As he gets his hugs through the door to the store opens as 3 people enter. “Oh my, am I interrupting anything?” The girls heard as they saw Setsuna standing there happily with Lillian and Kurosu. “Hello Setsuna Oneesan, Kurosu Oneesan, Lillian Oneesan!” Mitsuki says happily as he runs over to the three. “Hello Mitsuki San.” Lillian says kindly. “Hello little dude, how are you?” Kurosu says as he offers a high five as Mitsuki high fives him back.

“Hello Mitsuki San. And hello to you all as well.” Setsuna says as the Hugtto Team walks up to them. “Hey Setsuna, how are you?” Hana questions as Setsuna smiles. “I am doing quite well. The New Year has come and gone and all is working as it should in Labyrinth.” Setsuna says as Mitsuki gasps. “Oh right that’s another thing I am excited about! I can’t wait to see!” Mitsuki says happily as Setsuna smiles. “Well then shall we go?” Setsuna questions as Mitsuki nods enthusiastically while the other three redemptives nod. “Very well then.” Setsuna says as she brings out Akarun.

“Have a nice day Mitsuki! You to Ruru!” Hana says enthusiastically as Mitsuki nods happily as Ruru nods as well before a red light shines across the room as Setsuna and the others are no longer there. As they leave Hana smiles. “I hope Mitsuki and the others have fun!” Hana says as the others all nod as they get on with their own plans for the day.

As the five travelers make their way to the world, the two veterans smile as they watch the three newbies and their reaction. Lillian looked around her with a slight look of intrigue at the huge towering buildings all around her. Kurosu looked around as well at the buildings but was more interested in the large array of colors and people in the area they were in, namely the large number of vendors for different foods, mostly donuts. And finally Mitsuki was giddily jumping up and down while giving everyone around him a smile as people of the city passed by the newbies giving them warm smiles and waves of the hand. As they took in the city Setsuna smiled at them.

“Welcome to Labyrinth everyone.” Setsuna says as the trio of newbies nod. “This place is so cool!” Mitsuki cheers happily as Kurosu nods. “I agree. Although what’s with all the donut stands?” He questions as Setsuna giggles. “Oh that’s just due to everyone Labyrinth loving donuts since Tart first brought them during our final battle.” Setsuna says as he nods. “Damn that’s a lot of love I guess. I wonder if Haruka San or Amanogawa San loves it here.” Kurosu says as Ruru nods. “They do. When we had the first annual Pretty Cure Donut eating contest they actually bested me. Kirara San did get 1st place while Haruka San got 2nd and I got 3rd.” Ruru says as Mitsuki’s eyes widen.

“Donut Eating Contest! That sounds so fun!” Mitsuki says as Setsuna giggles at the boy before she looks over at Lillian. “Lillian San what do you think of Labyrinth?” Setsuna questions as the quiet green haired woman gives her a small smile. “It seems wonderful. I am just taken back by how tall your buildings are. As well as how your city is laid out.” She says as Setsuna nods. “Yep it’s been a work in progress to fix the city but we are starting to make the city a bit more downsized to avoid the way it looks.” Setsuna says as Lillian looks at her. “Fascinating.” She says as Ruru looks at Setsuna.

“We should probably be going to the meeting now, Setsuna. My processor says we might be late if we do not leave now.” Ruru says as Setsuna nods. “Your right Ruru. Alright guys let’s get going. We can give a small tour on the way to the meeting building.” Setsuna says as the three nod as they begin their walk to the meeting building.

At the meeting building however, things for the party were going as expected for this group.

“Oi give it back Regina!” Ira yelled with furious anger as the girl in black and red giggled while holding up a picture to her face. “I don’t know, I think everyone here would love to see you dressed as a dorky elf for christmas!” Regina says as she floated higher and the boy gave chase floating higher as well. As Ira soon shot a purple danger at the girl which almost pierces the photo but hits one of the balloons instead. This causes one member on the ground to finally let out their annoyance.

“Regina! Ira! Knock it off!” Phantom yells angrily as both of the younger redemptive freeze up as the man glares at them and they soon float down with Regina putting the picture away. “Still gonna show Bibury later on when she’s done cooking with Rio.” Regina says as Ira growls. “First off I will get that picture before you can. Secondly you know she doesn’t actually cook right? It’s just Rio who does and she takes credit.” Ira says as Regina frowns. “Hey don't say that about her! She’s way better as a cook than you are. Or do I have to remind you of that terrible meal you made for Rikka when she was sick.” Regina says as Ira blushes. “Oi don’t talk about that. Besides, it's not my fault I didn’t get any cooking experience beforehand.” Ira says.

“You nearly gave her food poisoning! I think that’s a pretty big oversight when cooking. Even I know how not to do that.” Regina says with a smirk as Ira glares as they once again fight angrily as Phantom sighs. “I swear these two. Will they ever grow up?” Phantom says as Solciere smiles to her boyfriend. “I don’t know but I am glad we have someone like you to reel them in. You yelled at them in such a fatherly way. Not many men I have seen have that skill.” Solciere says as Phantom blushes a little at the compliment. “Ugh, thank you Solciere.” He says as in another part of the room Ellen and some other redemptives were setting up balloons.

Although Ellen was being a bit odd. “Ellen San?” Tanomi asked but Ellen ignored her, seeming lost in thought. “Oi Ellen.” Olivier says but Ellen again ignores her. “Ellen San?” Towa asks, trying to get her attention as she keeps doing what she was doing until. “POP!” The balloon which Ellen was filling up with air from the tank soon pops scaring the cat girl as she hides behind a pillar again. “AAHH!” She yells as the trio sigh. “Ellen San.” Towa says as she approaches as Ellen looks at Towa before blushing slightly and taking something out of her ears. “Oh sorry Towa San. I put these in my ears so that when I fill up these balloons this time if they popped they would not scare me. Guess all they did was make me more scared and not able to hear you.” Ellen says as the trio sighs.

At the other end of the room, a certain trio was helping to set up the banner like before but were also having a discussion. “So Nagisa San still hasn’t found the courage to confess to her crush yet?” Michiru questions as Kiriya shakes his head. “Nope. Although that’s been going on for years now so I don’t think it’s gonna change anytime soon. Even with Honoka being..her usual self when it comes to trying to pair up those two.” Kiriya says as Michiru nods. “That’s fair. Although, Saki is the opposite of Nagisa in our group. She is even trying to pair Mai with someone as well as Kaoru. Mai we have had no luck with and Kaoru we have but she isn’t interested.” Michiru says as Kaoru looks down from the ladder.

“I have no interest in dating anyone at the moment, Michiru. I wish Saki would understand I do not need a man or woman to make my life worth living.” Kaoru says as Michiru smiles. “Of course Kaoru. You know how Saki can be though. But I can try to tell her to knock it off a little. Or maybe you can tell her. Being direct with Saki is the best way to help her learn.” Michiru says as Kaoru nods. “Wish I could do that for Honoka. But she’s not exactly the easiest to argue out of it. Then again I can tell that Nagisa and Fujipi have a good friendship already so even if it never works out I am sure they are friends. Although she and Nagisa don’t have an interest in doing that for Hikari it seems.” Kiriya explains as Michiru giggles.

“I think that is a little similar to Kaoru and Saki when I asked if Minori had any crushes on any boys or girls in her class.” Michiru says as soon as the two feel a dark aura nearby as Kaoru looks down with a cold glare. “Minori is too young to date. End of story. Besides, none of her friends I have seen are right enough for her.” Kaoru says protectively as Michiru and Kiriya nod with a sweat drop. “I see she’s still as protective as ever.” Kiriya says as Michiru nods. “Yes it is quite adorable but also quite scary.” Michiru says.

“Food’s here guys!” Hayato calls out as he enters along with Shun, Rio, and Bibury bringing in plates and cups with a few tins carrying food for the party. As they do, everyone gathers around with Regina happily walking to Bibury. “Hey Bibury, wanna see this pic I took of Ira during Christmas?” Regina says holding up the picture as Ira soon tosses a small purple blade into it, cutting it as Regina freaks out and glares at him. “Ira!” Regina yells. “Sorry, I just thought that needed to be cut down a little.” He jokes as Shun sighs.

“Remember the rules Ira. No using your powers on others. Otherwise I might have given you the punishment.” Shun says as Ira freezes up. “No please, not that! I already have enough homework to write as is!” Ira yells as Shun sighs. “Remember not to do this again or I will invoke the 1,000 word handwritten essay rule.” He says as Ira nods as Regina giggles. “1,000 words essay? That sounds dumb.” Bibury says. “It is not. It is rather helpful especially for younger students at school especially those who wish to not get in trouble.” Shun explains as Bibury looks away. “Thank god I don’t go to school.” Bibury says as Rio smirks. “Yes of course. Afterall, all you do is freeload off us.” Rio says as Bibury looks over and glares at the boy.

“Excuse me. I work my butt off at your sister's store way more than you do! Especially since you always have to leave to do that dumb soccer stuff!” Bibury yells. “Excuse you, soccer is a hobby for me. Even still I work my butt off on it and school as well!” Rio says as the two glare at each other. “Hey you two don’t go fighting like that. Today is the day you get to greet your new successors! So cheer up and stop being so rude to each other.” Hayato says cheerfully as Bibury and Rio sigh. “Okay Hayato San.” Rio says. “Whatever. When are these three gonna arrive already?” Bibury questions as Shun looks down at his phone. “They should arrive any moment. Let’s get ready and hide to give off the surprise.” Shun says as the others all nod and get to work.

“Surprise! Welcome to the Redemptives!” The quatro heard as they entered with Setsuna and Ruru smiling at the three as Mitsuki looked at everything with wide eyes as Kurosu smiled happily and Lillian looked shocked. “Wow this is so cool!” Mitsuki says. “You aren’t kidding.” Kurosu says. “I didn’t think you would go this far for us.” Lillian says as Setsuna smiles. “Of course we would know then let’s sit down, have some food, and have a nice chat.” Setsuna says as the group nods as Lillina sits down next to Setsuna and Tanomi, Mitsuki sits next to Olivier and Kaoru, and Kurosu sits next to Towa and Ellen. As they do each person grabs some food from the bowls and containers and they begin to eat a little as Setsuna starts the talk. “Now then normally whenever we have new members join we try to have a typical opening with a meal but also with discussion on our lives at the moment. So for this time I want you all to share what you did for Christmas and New Years.” Setsuna said as the group nodded as Kiriya started.

“Guess I can go first.” Kiriya says as Setsuna nods. “So um my break was fine.” Kiriya says as Rio nods. “How were things with your sister?” Rio questioned. “Ehh Ashida is okay I guess. She’s a little odd to be around during the holiday but it was nice I guess.” Kiriya says. “I did wanna ask why she did not join the Redemptives? Isn’t she the same age as Phantom and Solciere?” Kaoru questions as Kiriya chuckles. “I asked her if she’d wanna join but she told me and I quote, “No way. I don’t wanna be in the same group as my little brother and his little friends.” End quote.” Kiriya says with air quotes as Setsuna nods. “I wouldn’t agree with the idea that we are little but I can understand her decision. If she ever does go back on this let me know and we can add her.” Setsuna says as Kiriya nods.

“Yeah that’s fair. Thanks Setsuna.” Kiriya says as Setsuna nods as Michiru and Kaoru speak up next. “Our break went fine for the most part. Although Kaoru got to make donuts with Minori so that was nice.” Michiru says as Kaoru smiles a little as Hayato perks up. “Ahh I see you're living up to your namesake!” Hayato says as Kaoru sighs. “Hayato..just because I have the same name as Kaoru Chan from Love’s city doesn’t mean that I am a donut maker.” Kaoru says as Hayato blushes. “Oh sorry I know it’s just nice to see two make donuts!” Hayato says as Kaoru nods. “They were rather tasty. Although Saki got a stomach ache from that.” Michiru says as Kiriya sighs.

“Given Saki and what I have seen of her, that makes sense.” Kiriya says as the others in the group who knew the orange haired girl nodded. “But she’s doing better now.” Michiru says happily as Tanomi smiles. “That’s great Michiru.” Tanomi says as Michiru nods as Tanomi begins her part. “My break was really fun actually. Besides getting to see the others all throughout the weeks of Christmas to help out at Nuts House, we also got to have fun skating in the park. It was my first time doing this and I quite enjoyed it.” Tanomi says as the others looked a little worried.

“How was Nozomi with ice skating?” Ira questions. “She was fine with it. For the most part she clung to Coco while getting the hang of it. Also she only fell on her face once. So that’s good.” Tanomi says as the others sigh thankfully. “Well good to know there were no hospital visits.” Setsuna says. “If Nozomi is as accident prone as I heard, I figured she’d spend most of her time in the hospital.” Bibruy says as Regina chuckles a little but Rio elbows Bibury. “Oi what was that for!” Bibury yelled as Rio gave her a frown. “Don’t joke about someone going to the hospital, Bibury.” Rio says. “Fine fine jeez.” Bibury says as Setsuna gave a little sigh to the green haired girl but soon began her story. “Love and the others actually came here for a few days during break so that was lovely for me. But I have been dealing with a bit of stress.” Setsuna says as the others look at her confused as Hayato chuckles nervously before standing up.

“I swear that Ganishi is not gonna be a problem! Besides, I promise I will take care of him.” He says as the others are confused by Hayato’s outburst. “Um..who is Ganishi?” Olivier questions. “Apparently Inori San for Christmas finally gave into Hayato’s wish to have a dog. Ganishi is a dog her family rescued from the streets and he took to Hayato the last time he visited. As such she and he adopted him to take care of.” Shun says as Hayato blushes as Regina giggles. “Aww they have a puppy together!” Regina says cooing as Hayato blushes even redder. “Hey Ganishi is not a puppy! He’s actually a pretty big dog.” Hayato says as he brings out a photo of the dog. As the group looked they saw a large golden furred dog with a happy look as it chewed on a bone. This happy and cute image causes most of the girls to swoon at the cuteness and some of the boys to smile at it all except one who starts to shake.

“Huh..Ellen San what’s wrong?” Tanomi questions as Setsuna gasps. “Oh that’s right you're afraid of dogs right Ellen? Oh..this might make things later difficult.” Setsuna says as Ellen shakes her head. “I am not scared of dogs!” She shouts although everyone knows she is not being truthful, except Hayato who smiles. “Aww that’s great! You're just gonna love Ganishi, Ellen!” Hayato says as Ellen nods, sweat dropping a little as the others sigh. “Well either way I am happy for you Hayato.” Tanomi says as the others nod as Hayato smiles. “As for myself, I have not been up too much during the break. If anything I was tracking energy to determine if the Black Hole would show up again.” Shun says. “Any news on that?” Ira questions. “No nothing yet but I am still monitoring it and have some of the others in my group checking in at the moment.” Shun says. “Hey you weren’t just doing that. What about you and Miki’s little date in the park?” Hayato says jokingly as Shun blushes. “Oh fascinating. What did you two do on your date?” Regina says as Shun glares at Hayato before coughing. “I did not do anything with Miki. She insisted I accompanied her to the new park to show her around and I did. That was all.” Shun says.

“Aww how cute.” Regina says as Shun sighs. “Regardless of that my break was rather nice.” Shun says as Olivier nods. “My break was nice. It’s been enjoyable to finally have a home to live in and not one I leave after a while.” Olivier says. “That’s right you now live in the same town as Tsubomi and the others right. What’s that like?” Ellen questions as Olivier smiles a little. “It’s nice. The others have helped me feel welcomed in town, even introducing me to some of the classmates I will see more once I start classes.” Olivier says as Towa gasps. “Oh my you're gonna begin formal schooling, how nice.” Towa says as Olivier blushes a little. “It is, I guess. The Baron has taught me alot of what he knew already but getting to go to school regularly should be nice. As long as Tsubomi doesn’t act all weird to me again.” Olivier says as the others nod.

“I do admit Tsubomi San did seem to go overboard with you, seeming rather motherly.” Lillian says as Olivier nods. “I agree although to me it feels like she’s a big sister sometimes with how annoying she can act.” Olivier says as Regina giggles. “Oh common, she loves you. Not like a sister but I think she likes you like you.” Regina says as Olivier blushes more. “Regina!” Olivier says as Rio sighs. “Ignore her Olivier. Honestly, how you describe Tsubomi reminds me of Ciel, so I can understand and relate.” Rio says as Olivier nods. “Thank you Rio.” Olivier says as Bibury scoffs.

“Honestly, who would baby someone like that? None of us are old enough to be mothers anyway.” Bibury says as Rio sighs. “I mean it’s not that weird. Setsuna and her team do that with Chiffon, Mirai and Riko do that with Kotoha, Ruru and her team do that with Hugtan, and even Mana and her team do it with Ai Chan. So any of us acting as parents isn’t that weird Bibury.” Rio says as Bibury looks and shrugs. “I guess. I still think it’s weird.” Bibury says. “Don’t worry Bibury I am sure you’ll never have to be a mother any time soon.” Ira jokes as Bibury gives him a glare as Olivier sighs.

“Anyway all in all my break has been nice.” Olivier says as the group nods as they look at Lillian as she gives them a nod. “My break has been fine since coming around to who I am. Thankfully my sister and the others have been helpful with adjusting to my past.” Lillian says as Tanomi smiles. “That’s good then. Do you have any issues with memories coming to you?” Tanomi questions as Lillian looks in though before shaking her head. “Honestly I have not had any problems with memories. My new life and old life have some interlap during the times I was around as Dark Pretty Cure but my new memories have stayed with me and I choose them as my true history now.” Lillian says as Tanomi smiles along with the others.

“That’s great Lillian, I am glad you managed to get comfortable.” Setsuna says as Lillian frowns a little. “There are still a few things I am not comfortable with but I have been able to help myself with it. And if I can’t then my hope is this group can.” Lillian says as Regina smiles. “Aww Lillian I am sure we can help! What kinda problem do you have?” Regina asks as the older members of the redemptives look at her confused. “Oh um nothing I wish to share at the moment Regina San.” Lillain says as Regina frowns. “Aww don’t be like that. Also don’t call me Regina San, just call me Regina. I don’t like all that fancy title stuff.” Regina says as Ira scoffs. “Right cause you didn’t have me, Bell, and Marmo call you Princess for a while when you first found us.” Ira says as Regina blushes and grows. “Hey I am not like that anymore!” Regina yells as Lillina nods to Regina. “Noted. I will not use san when referring to you only your name. But I do not wish to share what is going on at the moment. I do apologize.” Lillian says as Regina sighs.

“Fine fine but when you need help just come to me. I am sure we can short out the romantic problems you are having soon enough.” Regina says as the older members of the group sigh. “That explains her behavior.” Setsuna says, sweat dropping as the others nod doing the same as her. “Regardless of that, I am doing well.” Lillian says as her talk ends as Ellen takes over. “Well on my end not much was going on before Christmas but I did get a rather wonderful gift.” Ellen says, showing off her white cat necklace. “Isn’t that the gift you got from Hummy before we fought the Black Hole?” Towa questions as Ellen nods. “Yep it’s a special treasure to me and it’s something that has allowed me to regain something.” Ellen says standing up before her body glows in a flashing light as soon she appears on the table but not as herself. Now she was a purple colored cat as the others were shocked especially the newer members.

“You can turn into a cat?” Kurosu questions as Eleln nods. “Well more accurately this is my original form. I lost it when I became a Pretty Cure and took on my human form as my main identity and when my former necklace broke. But after training my powers again and thanks to Aphrodite Sama I have been able to learn to transform again.” Ellen says as the others look at her, shocked yet happy. “That’s fantastic for you Ellen! Although would I call you Siren now since that’s what your name was before?” Setsuna questions as Ellen frowns a little. “Well I would like to be called Ellen even in this form. My old name has a lot of pain behind it and I choose to bury my old identity with my past. I even changed my form a little to match my new self identity.” Ellen says as the older members of the group who had seen what she looked like thanks to her shadow self noticed she was correct. Whole obviously the same cat body, her fur was now a lighter shade of purple and the white on her body looked less menacing and was rather cuter.

“Understood Ellen San. Still it is rather grand that you regained this form.” Towa says. “Yeah plus now we have three actual fairies in our group.” Kiriya says as Phantom and Rio look at her and nod. “She is rather adorable in this form but I do think you still look cute Phantom.” Solciere whispers to her boyfriend as Phantom blushes while Regina looks at Ellen. “So can you turn into anyone else?” Regina questions as Ellen shakes her head reverting to normal. “Oh no I cannot. Right now all I can do is go back and forth. But I hope to learn to master this power again in the future.” Ellen says as Regina frowns. “Aww that sucks. I was hoping we could have you prank Rio again.” Regina says as Rio grows. “After the Halloween experience I had with Yukari I wish to never have a cat mess with me by turning into Ichika again, no offense Ellen.” Rio says as Ellen nods.

“That’s okay Rio I understand your feelings. I would never prank you like that.” Ellen says as she faces the others. “That being said, that was the biggest thing for me during break. How about you Regina?” Ellen questions as Regina smirks. “Hehehe well I did do a few things. Namely, I got to make Christmas cookies with Daddy and Agri again!” Regina says as the others smile. “Yeah they were pretty good.” Bibury says as Ira scoffs. “Yeah and tell them how long it took to make them.” Ira says as Regina blushes. “Well um..a few hours.” Regina says. “She took a full 18 hours to make them. She and Aguri were up till 12:00 making them because they kept fighting.” Ira says as the others sighed at Regina and Aguri fighting while a few gave little chuckles.

“Hey! Rikka was not supposed to tell you that! Also it wasn’t my fault Agri kept having me measure the ingredients over and over.” Regina says frowning as Bibury sighs. “I know right. I feel the same whenever Ciel has me bake with her. She always wants everything to be perfect. I think she’s taking her cure name a bit too seriously.” Bibury says as Regina nods. “Exactly! Oh also I am close to graduating from the knight training with Mr. Jonathan!” Regina smirks with pride as Phantom looks at her. “You mentioned this to us before Regina. What do you do for training?” Phantom says intrigued as Regina smiles. “It’s a lot of working out with my spear and just learning to fight with it as well as how to fight without a weapon.” Regina says as Towa looks at her happily. “That’s fantastic Regina! I am sure you will be able to graduate from this. Although does this mean you wanna protect your kingdom in the future?” Towa questions as Regina looks and blushes a little.

“Oh well I would help if Mr. Jonathan needed me like when Mana or the others needed me to fight with them from time to time. But really I just want the training to help me become Mana’s body guard in the future once she is the prime minister.” Regina says as the others both sign a bit at Regina’s reasoning but a few nod. “With your dedication to her you should be able to protect her as a bodyguard although if you need any extra lessons I could help.” Phantom says as Regina looks at the red haired man and smiles. “Really thanks Phantom.” Regina says. “Although I might be a bit more rough in my teaching than Johnathan San.” Phantom says as Regina looks and freezes.

“On second thought..maybe not.” Regina says as the other laughs as Ira takes the speaking role. “My break was fine. I got to finally try out snowboarding and it was fun.” Ira says as Regina nods. “Honestly I gotta agree with Ira it was actually fun to snowboard. Although I hated Rikka getting on our case for knocking into those jerks on the ride down the mountain.” Ira says as Regina nods. “I know! I mean they were rude to us! Plus they flirted with Rikka and Mana. They were so creepy. Especially that one girl who tried to flirt with Makoto even though she told her to stop.” Regina says as Ira nods. “Yeah I didn’t say it at the time but I was glad we made them wipeout.” Ira says as Regina nods. “The world must be ending again if these two are getting along.” Kiriya says as Rio nods. “Oi I can hear you Kiriya!” Regina yells annoyed as the others sigh.

“Anyway aside from that nothing else happened with me. How about you Phantom?” Ira questions as the red haired man looks to the others. “Everything has been fine with me. We had a wonderful Christmas Party at the Blue Sky Embassy, especially since Mirage and Blue have returned. Although Hime did get on my nerves with her questions about me and Solciere.” Phantom says as Solciere giggles. “It was not that bad. Hime San is rather kind and sweet. Although her asking when we would get married was a little awkward.” Solciere says as Regina smirks. “So when do you wanna get married?” Regina questions as Solciere blushes. “Oh..um..well I think we need to wait and just enjoy our time with each other currently.” Solciere says coughing to avoid showing her blush. “Regardless of that my break was fine. What about you Towa San?” Phantom questions as Towa smiles stepping up to the speaking role.

“Oh well my Christmas was delightful. Me and the others enjoyed the Christmas Party and we all exchanged gifts for a Secret Santa. Kirara was my Secret Santa and she got me this lovely pass for a special salon she goes to for 1 free hair styling appointment. Apparently it is a very high quality service so I hope to use it in the future before something big like a party in my own world or for the school.” Towa says as the others nod with Tanomi smiling. “That sounds lovely. Although if you all ever needed to set up an appointment my mother could help out. She works her own hair dresser and she is really good although probably not the same as the one you will go to Towa San.” Tanomi says as Towa nods but gives a kind smile. “No, I think your mother did a great job with yours and Nozomi’s hair styling for your birthdays, so I am sure she is great with others as well.” Towa says as Ellen nods. “I agree. You looked so pretty in the pictures you sent to the group chat.” Ellen says kindly as Tanomi smiles.

“Yep, no wonder you finally had the courage to ask Rin out when you looked that good.” Regina complimented as Tanomi blushed a little as Towa looked over to Kurosu to signal him to speak as the guy smiled. “Oh well um hey guys, if I didn’t say it before the name is Kurosu. It’s nice to meet you guys today.” He says enthusiastically as the group smiles except Bibury who sighs at his overly positive attitude. “And well umm not much is going on from my break. I mean besides learning who I was but that hasn’t made things that weird. Thankfully Yui and the others are the only ones who know the truth. But I do think I made up for it a little by playing some music during the Christmas Concert.” Kurosu says as Ellen perks up. “What kinda music did you play?” Ellen questions as Kurosu smiles. “Oh well I play the guitar actually and the band I am with we mostly play rock music.” Kurosu says as Ellen smiles.

“That’s really cool. I play guitar as well.” Ellen says as Kruosu smiles. “Oh really that’s cool!” He says enthusiastically as Ellen smiles as well. “But um yeah that’s all I have to say. Um you're up, Sorciere San.” Kruosu says as Sorciere smiles. “Thank you Kurosu. Besides what we mentioned before not much occurred with me and Phantom and the others. I did get to enjoy the special Christmas party at the Magical Academy.” She says as the others nod. “Did they ask you to sing again this year?” Shun questions as she nods. “Yes, although I do wish some wouldn’t make it as much of a big deal. I am nowhere near as good of a singer as a few of you, especially Ellen San or Hummy San.” Sorciere says as Phantom frowns. “I think regardless of who is better, your voice makes others happy especially during these times so I think you should think of that. Also because you do practice quite a bit, especially how you and Yukko prepared for it by singing together.” Phantom says as Sorciere looks and nods.

“Thank you Phantom.” Sorciere says as she and Phantom smile at each other as the others nod happily. “Regardless of that I am trying to start up my new semester's schedule and different lessons for my students.” Sorciere says as Kurosu looks at her. “Wait, are you a teacher?” He questions as she nods, smiling. “Yes I am. Although I am still relatively new and gaining more experience.” Sorciere says as Regina smiles. “Hey common, don't think that way. June and the others tell me you're an amazing teacher! Besides, you have so much magical experience and stuff!” Regina says as Sorciere looks at the younger blonde and smiles. “Thank you Regina San.” Sorciere says as Rio is next to speak. “Well as for me not much happened during Christmas. Besides having a few rounds with Kiriya after I lost once and beat him to tie us up in terms of points.” Rio says cocky as Kiriya frowns. “Hey you got me on a bad day. I am sure I can take you down right now if you want. Or maybe after the meeting.” Kiriya says as Rio smirks. “Sure sounds like a plan.” Rio says while the other sighs include Bibury.

“You athletes are so dumb.” Bibury says annoyed as Rio sighs. “Besides that I did get to help out with Ciel’s shop and apparently we had a very successful end to the year of sales. We made more than we expected so that made me happy.” Rio says as the others nod. “Yeah makes sense since your sis and you make such good food.” Hayato says as Rio gives a little smile but also a slight blush. “I’m glad you think that but most of that was Ciel’s doing. But I am slowly getting better with my own cooking.” Rio says as Kiriya nods. “You’ll be on the same level as Ciel someday I am sure of it.” Kiriya says reassuringly as Rio looks and nods, giving Kiriya a smirk. “Thanks man.” He says as Bibury rolls her eyes.

“Hey Rio, why don’t you tell them about the Christmas Party this year? That was really fun.” Bibury says with a smirk as Rio blushes. “Maybe for you, Ciel, and Yukari. But for me it was hell.” Rio says as the others gave him a questioning look. “What happened, Rio San?” Mitsuki questioned as the boy sighed. “Well SOMEONE not naming any names had set up mistletoe all over the kitchen and dining area and then SOMEONE again not naming any names had constantly been sending me and Ichika in the direction of each other. Thankfully we avoided stepping under it as I would quickly turn to my fairy form to avoid her or she’d jump to the side. But the whole night was annoying.” Rio says as Bibury giggles. “Naw it was really a lot of fun watching you and her acting like idiots all night.” Bibury says as Rio glares at her. “I’d say you deserve it for not just confessing already. I mean I only met Ichika and you a few times at this point and even I can tell you two like each other. Why not just confess?” Regina questions as Rio blushes. “Look I don’t want to be in a relationship at the moment okay. Can we leave my love life alone for once?” Rio questions as Bibury shrugs.

“Fine fine anyway my break was okay I guess. Besides watching Rio and Ichika act like idiots nothing eventually happened.” Bibury says as Rio smirks. “Oh now that I think about it I think I remember something cute Ciel and you said to each other Bibury.” Rio says as he gets a smirk on his face. “Something we said..you wouldn’t dare?” Bibury questions as Rio gives her a look that says he is not joking. “Huh, what did she say? That she looked cool in her outfit? I mean I thought that was a given.” Regina says complimenting her friend as Bibury shot her a look of panic as Rio saw this and smirked. “She gave Bibury a nickname Bibi and Bibury called Ciel, Kiki after her name of Kiraran. Seems I am not the only one with love life stuff going on ehh Bibury.” Rio says as Bibury freezes as Regina perks up.

“OMG you like Ciel? I wouldn’t have thought! Do you need help confessing to her?” Regina questions happily as Bibury looks at her friend frozen like a statue before glaring at Rio who gave her an innocent smile. “Isn’t that great Bibury now Regina can help you.” Rio says as Bibury’s glare darkens. “I will pay you back for this one.” Bibury says as Rio smiles. “Whatever you say Bibury.” Rio says as Shun rolls his eyes at their attitudes. “Moving on, what about you Ruru San?” Shun questions as Ruru nods to him. “Well my break was eventful with everything that happened regarding Mitsuki but also I had a small Christmas Concert with everyone in the city again. So that was enjoyable.” Ruru says as Mitsuki nods, finally speaking up. “It was so good! Ruru Oneesan and Emiru San sang so well!” Mitsuki says happily as Ruru smiles as well as the others. “Do you like music, Mitsuki?” Ellen questions as Mitsuki nods. “Of course I do! It always sounds so cool! Especially when people play instruments! Like Hinase Oneesan who played for me after he tutored my Oneechan for her test last year.” Mitsuki says as Ellen smiles.

“That’s great Mitsuki.” Ellen says as the boy nods. “Besides the concert, everything else was not worth mentioning for me during the break.” Ruru says as the group nods as they look at Mitsuki. “Okay then you're up now Mitsuki, how was your break?” Setsuna questioned as Mitsuki smiled. “Oh well..um everything was good! Besides learning about who I was, Oneechan and the others helped me feel better, especially today when I was scared.” Mitsuki says. “Scared? Why were you scared?” Setsuna questions as Mitsuki frowns. “Oh well because when I was Miden I stole your memories and that was really mean. So I was worried you all wouldn't like me cause of what I did.” Mitsuki says as the others' faces all soften at the boy especially Lillian and Kurosu but Setsuna smiles.

“Mitsuki, you should know something very important about this group. We will never blame or be mad at you for what you did. I can attest that everyone in this group has done something or a lot of things they regret but that’s why we have this group. It’s to help us understand ourselves and forgive ourselves by being with others like us. That’s what being a Redemptive is all about. So never worry Mitsuki or any of you, this is a safe and friendly place.” Setsuna says as the other veteran redemptives nod as the newbies give them soft or bright smiles. “Anyway with all that said I think we should enjoy the food now and also get ready because after we will have our first activity. And I am quite excited about it.” Setsuna says as Kurosu, Lillain and Mitsuki all look at her with curiosity at what the rest of their first meeting would hold.

Chapter Text

As the group finished up their food and cleaned up in the kitchen, Setsuna told them to stand nearby a screen Shun had put up. Said screen being a map of Labyrinth with a few set locations for as of yet unknown reasons. Setsuna would soon shine light on this fact though as she stood in front of everyone with a smile on her face. “Now that we have finished cleaning up it is time for our special activity of this meeting.” Setsuna says as she points to the screen.

“Now since it is the month of new beginnings and the new year has come, we have brainstormed a rather simple yet fun activity. We will be having a scavenger hunt. Each of these three locations in the city will be manned by me, Shun or Hayato and at each location you will receive a special pin and once you have all three you must make it back here and hand them off to our fourth member Ruru.” Setsuna says as Ruru nods as everyone looks a bit confused. “Why isn’t Ruru participating?” Towa questions as Setsuna smiles.

“Well I am glad you asked because that’s where the second idea of this game comes in. You will not be going it alone today. Today you will be teaming up with one other member of the group. That way you don’t have to go it alone.” Setsuna says as everyone gaps and starts to look around. “What would be so bad going it alone if we just have to reach different areas?” Bibury questions. “Well the task to get the special pins is a bit more like a game. Each one of us thought of a challenge you must participate in to get the pin as such you will have to rely on each other in some of these cases.” Setsuna explained.

“Although a few rules before we start. In order to avoid any issues with unfair advantages we ask that Tanomi, Ellen, and Towa do not use their Pretty Cure forms. As well as asking Sorciere to not use any spells to teleport her and her partner to locations. As well as any offensive spells you know or Regina, Ira and anyone else from using your powers on other teams to cause them to get hurt or be distracted. We wish to have a good clean game. Although other non threatening abilities especially during challenges are allowed.” Setsuna says as the group nods.

“Now then with Setsuna’s rules out of the way I suggest you choose your team. I would recommend choosing someone you can work well with but we also encourage two who don’t know each other too much to try and work together. The purpose of this exercise at the end of the day is to build bounds with one another.” Shun says as Hayato smiles at everyone. “Plus it’s a really fun kinda game! And if you win first place you’ll get a special prize!” Hayato says as the group looks at the man intrigued. “What kinda prize?” Regina and Ira question.

“Well the winners of this contest will receive one of these!” Hayato says as he shows off a pass which the group squint at seeing it was some kinda kiddy drawing of Cure Passion smiling. “This card will be a one time use for each of you that will allow you to have Setsuna take you anywhere be it on Earth, here in Labyrinth or even any kingdoms that the Pretty Cures have visited. It’s a two way trip so you can use this to go there then have Setsuna take you back when you're done!” Hayato said happily as everyone looked happy.

“Oh wow, going anywhere! That could be the perfect way to have a special date trip with Mana!” Regina says happily as others seem to think of their own desired locations. “With that said now it’s time to form some groups. Remember only two people per team.” Setsuna says as the group nods as several teams form automatically.

“Wanna work together?” Kiriya questions as Rio smirks. “Sure thing.” He says. “Let’s do this Bibury!” Regina says as Bibury nods. “Phantom, would you like to work with me?” Solcire says as Phantom nods. “Of course.” He says. “Um Lillian San.” Lillian hears as Tanomi walks up to her. “Would you like to be on a team with me?” Tanomi questions as Lillian smiles. “Of course Tanomi San that’s fine.” Lillain says as Tanomi nods happily. “Hey Ellen..San wanna team up?” Kurosu questioned, catching himself a bit of politeness as Ellen looked and smiled at the boy.

“Sure thing.” Ellen says. “Michiru, is it okay if I don’t team up with you?” Kaoru questioned as Michiru looked at her sister confused. “Why is that?” Michiru questioned as Kaoru looked at a certain young boy looking around unsure of who to pick as she smiled.

“Go ahead.” Michiru says as Kaoru nods and approaches the boy. “Hello Mitsuki.” Kaoru says as the boy lights up and smiles. “Oh hi um..” He says as Kaoru nods. “Oh sorry I didn’t introduce myself, my name is Kaoru.” Kaoru says politely as Mitsuki nods. “Oh right hello Kaoru Oneechan! Would you like to be my partner?” Mitsuki questions as Kaoru smiles at the boy.

“Sure thing.” Kaoru says as Mitsuki jumps up happily. “Yay!” He says jumping up and down as Michiru smiles at him and her sister before looking to her right and seeing a certain princess without a teammate yet. “Towa, would you like to be my teammate?” Michiru asked as Towa looked up and smiled.

“Oh of course Michiru San.” Towa says happily as Michiru nods. “Huh?” Ira says looking around as he spotted someone but frowned. “Huh..oh no.” Olivier says as Ira and him stare at each other. “Oh cool you two can team up Olivier and Ira!” Hayato says as both boys grimace but sigh. “Fine.” Both say as Setsuna smiles.

“Alright everyone! Now that we have teams together here are the maps for the city. And best of luck to each one of you!” Setsuna says as several people cheer and some don’t but either way all the Redemptives are in high spirits as they go off on their hunts.

Starting off with Ellen and Kurosu, the two had started down their path of the city with the two striking up some casual conversations. “That was really cool how you can turn from fairy to human like that, Ellen San.” Kurosu says as Ellen smiles. “Thanks, it's still weird for me to get used to it. I was so used to just my human form for a while that being in my original form takes a bit getting used to.” Ellen says as Kurosu nods.

“Makes sense, still it sucks that your original body is so foreign to you now.” Kurosu says as Ellen sighs. “I know it’s still so odd to me to feel that way. At one point having hands instead of paws and no tail felt so strange to me. I felt so heavy and unable to be as graceful as I could before. Now it’s strange to feel the inverse of it.” Ellen explains as she looks down.

“And even sadder to have to see my friends reaction to it.” Ellen said sadly as Kurosu looked at her confused. “How’d they react?” He questions. “Well not too bad, all things considered. There was the shock of it, especially from Hibiki but they seemed to be happy about it. Still the shock of it hurt a little. It kinda reminded me of how many bad things I did with that form and my abilities.” Ellen says as she touches the necklace as Kurosu nods.

“I can imagine but..could you tell me what you did to get into this group? I mean everyone here seems so nice. It’s hard to imagine you did anything wrong in your past.” He says as Ellen giggles a little.

“That’s not inaccurate. That’s the first thing many people question me about and the others. But in truth I was not as nice in the past. When I was younger me and the other fairies of the kingdom would compete for the honor of playing the melody of happiness. As a soundstress I was the one chosen often for the role as such when I did one year that my friend Hummy joined in and she won the role and outshined me so well..I felt jealous. I was proud of Hummy for managing to sing so well, but my mind wouldn't let me escape my feelings. I felt that I was lost and that sense of loss led me to a darker fate as I was prayed upon by Mephisto Sama who was equally being prayed on by Noise. It was due to that..that I attacked with Mephisto Sama and Trio De Major to try and sing the Melody of Sorrows to try and plunge the world into despair and sadness.

Thankfully Aphrodite Sama saved the notes last minute and sent them to Earth but then I did even worse things. I attacked Hibiki and Kande when I first met them trying to take their G Cliffs, mocked their friendship, attempted to turn notes into Negatones to attack the town and gain more notes, and I even used my powers to shapeshift into others even sometimes Hibiki and Kanade themselves to break down their friendship and harmony with one another.

And Hummy..I hurt her the most. I used her naivete and love for me to try and gain notes and I used it to almost plunge her into the same sorrow I was in. But she never gave up, she never quit on me, she knew I was deep down a good person and someone she could trust and she could depend on to do the right thing. And in the end that faith in me allowed me to break free from the brainwashing and start to do good. As myself around town and as Cure Beat with the power to fight for and protect the notes and the melody I once tried to use for sorrow, now once again for happiness.” Ellen explains to Kurosu as he looks at her, shocked as he frowns.

“Ahh man I am so sorry you went through that Ellen San. That’s awful. But at least you were only brainwashed instead of actually working for them of your own free will.” Kursou says as Ellen frowns. “That’s not true. My own will was too weak. I was poisoned by my jealousy and pride and that allowed me to fall to Noise. Just as Mephisto Sama and the others were. Noise used all of us like puppets, yes but we still followed his orders in some way due to our own will not being strong enough, until Ako, Hummy, Hibiki and Kanade pushed us to break free.” Ellen explains as Kurosu nods.

“Still you broke free of that. Even if it was because of Hummy and the others you found the power inside to break free. That’s something important at least I feel.” Kursou says as Ellen looks and smiles. “Thank you Kursou San. You make a good point. Hummy tells me that a lot when I can get like this. So sorry for getting a bit melancholy there.” Ellen says as Kursou gives her a grin.

“Nah don’t worry. It was actually kinda interesting to hear a bit of your story. Honestly I am mostly in the dark with these other Pretty Cure teams. The only ones I know of right now are Haruka's team for obvious reasons. ” He says as Ellen nods. “Speaking of that I know your memories are still probably hazy but how are you feeling about everything you learned from your past?” Ellen questions as Kurosu sighs.

“It’s been a bit of a drag. I mean I woke up one day thinking everything was normal then suddenly bang I got choked out by my dark counterpart who I learned I once was a part of and that as that person I almost turned the whole world into a despaired nightmare. Honestly it’s a lot to take in.” Kursou says as Ellen frowns. “I agree it was probably hard for you. But do you wanna talk about any aspect of it?” Ellen questions as Kursou sighs.

“I guess just..to me it’s like I know what you said with Hummy and how you felt bad for how you treated her and what not. Well for me..I remembered something that kinda pissed me off. When I was that Close guy..I..I attacked Yui first. Out of all the girls I could have she was the one who I turned into a Zetsuburg first. It’s honestly really sad to think of that. Especially cause Yui is so nice and sweet and kind. She never would hurt anyone or anything. So the idea that I turned her into that kinda monster to attack Haruka..it hurts me. I worry she is afraid of me because of that. Not only that but there are so many others I turned into Zetsubourgs. All of them to hurt Haruka and the others and all of them to close out someone’s dream. Knowing that sometimes I wonder how I could ever make up for it.” Kurosu explains as Ellen pauses and puts a hand on his shoulder.

“Kurosu San..” She says as he looks at her to see her giving a sympathetic look. “One thing with us Redemptives believe in is that what we did in the past can be made up for. It’s why most fight alongside the Pretty Cures even if some of us are not Pretty Cures. But it’s not just fighting, we can do other things to make up for our past. Take me for instance, I tried to spread the Melody of Sorrow across the world. Now my goal is not just to once again gain the right to sing the Melody of Happiness by being picked. But I also wanna spread music across the world as well. I wanna be a singer in the Kannon Town to spread music across the town and to touch everyone with my music. To make everyone’s heart beat with joy and happiness.” Ellen explains as Kurosu looks at her and nods.

“That’s really cool of you Ellen San.” Kurosu says as Ellen smiles. “Of course and I think you can do the same.” Ellen says Kurosu looks at her confused. “How so?” He questions. “Well you like to play music right? Isn’t it your dream to do it in the future?” Ellen questions as Kurosu smiles. “Course I do. Even after learning what I was, I still am me and I love music, I love playing it.” He says as Ellen nods.

“Exactly, that’s how you can make up for your past.” Ellen says as Kurosu looks at her and thinks. “You really think I can? I mean I think I am good at playing music but I am nothing like you.” Kurosu says as Ellen shakes her head. “No, I think you are good enough. I am not the highest or greatest singer, I now know that and yet I wanna still sing for others just like you wanna play for others. So I am sure you can reach people. I am sure you can make up for your past by bringing that joy to them that you once brought despair to those same people.” Ellen explains as Kurosu looks at Ellen and starts chuckling.

“Man when you say it like that, Ellen San, it sounds so easy. Guess I was just being stupid.” Kurosu says as Ellen giggles. “Hey don’t say that. You're just new to this. I however am one of the older redemptives so I am pretty experienced with this.” Ellen says. “I suppose so, Ellen Senpai.” Kursou says jokingly as Ellen rolls her eyes. “Thank you Kurosu Kun.” Ellen says jokingly as Kurosu and Ellen soon laugh at one another before continuing their way to the location.

“Okay so the map says our first location is this park kinda area.” Kurosu says as he and Ellen look to see a green furnished park in the center of this street. Trees, flowers and even a few benches were located in this small area. And at the front of it was a familiar blonde haired man. “Hey!” Hayato says as he walks up to them. “Hey Hayato. Are we the first ones here?” Kursou questions as the man nods, giving a grin. “Yep, it seems like you guys were a little faster than the others. Which means Ellen gets to meet him first.” Hayato says as Ellen looks confused before Hayato whistles. As he does from the park area emerges a golden retriever with a happy grin. “Hey Ganishi! So these are my friends, Kurosu and Ellen. Say hi!” Hayato says as the dog nods, barking happily as Kursou pets the dog.

“Hey there buddy, how are you?” Kurosu says as he looks to his right to see Ellen..frozen. Yes the girl is still like a statue with sweat dripping down her forehead and looking nervous. “Ellen San?” Kursou questions as the dog looks and barks happily at Ellen as he goes over to her only for Ellen to run hiding behind Hayato. “AHH stay away!” She says as Hayato looks confused. “Huh but I thought you wanted to see him?” Hayato questions as Ellen looks and coughs. “Umm sorry I meant that I wanna get ahead and do the challenge before others arrive. Can’t lose track of time like that ya know.” Ellen says as Kurosu sighs at his senpai’s attitude towards the dog but Hayato nods happily.

“Oh okay that’s fine! Ganishi is actually the challenge or part of it.” Hayato says as Ellen looks shocked. “Huh?” She questions as Hayato moves away from her and pets his dog. “Yep Ganishi here is the challenge. See attached to his caller is this little ticket and with that ticket you can exchange it to get your pin!” Hayato says as he shows off the pin with his face chibified giving a thumbs up. “But in order to get it you need to take Ganishi’s collar.” Hayato says as he places the ticket into the collar. “Doesn’t sound too hard. I guess we only chase him in the park area?” Kursou says as Hayato nods.

“Yep! Can’t have him running around the streets again like he did when we first came here.” Hayato says as Kursou nods. “Okay don’t worry Ellen I got this!” Kurosu says as Ellen nods but looks worried. “But don’t you need my help?” She questions. “Naw you already gave me help. Now it’s my turn to help you.” He says as he faces Hayato. “Okay boy you know what to do right?” Hayato says as his dog nods and runs into the park area. “Okay now give him a 5 second head start and then your challenge begins.” Hayato says as Kurosu nods and smirks confidently. “I only need a few seconds to catch him.” Kurosu says as Ellen smiles.

“Okay I believe in you Kurosu best of luck.” Ellen says although Kurosu could only hear a bit of it since she was hiding behind a pillar around 20 feet away from him and the Hayato. “Thanks Ellen San.” He says with a sweat drop before looking at the park and beginning his chase.

10 Minutes later

“Ho boy..that dog runs fast.” Kurosu says as he was sweating profusely and falls to his knees as he exits the park without the ticket. “Yeah he loves to run. I think this will be the hardest challenge for all of you.” Hayato says as Ellen frowns.

“Is he that fast?” She questions as she walks over to Kurosu as he nods. “Yep..he also loves to jump which is why I am covered in dirt and leaves.” He says as he takes a few leaves from his hair and blows them away. “I can see that. Sorry I am not much help Kurosu.” Ellen says, looking ashamed as he smirks. “Hey don’t get like that. I get this is hard for you too. You’re clearly afraid of dogs. Guess that is a common thing for all cats and dogs it seems.” Kurosu says as Ellen nods before seeming to get an idea. “Huh?” Kurosu questions as Ellen smiles at him.

“I think I have an idea. I might not like it but I am sure it can help.” Ellen says as she moves to the gate. “Are you sure about coming along? I mean I know you freeze up on dogs.” Kurosu says. “Yes but if my issues are making this a challenge for me, maybe I can use his issues to make it easier for you.” Ellen says as Kurosu looks confused before she grabs her necklace and in a flash turns into her cat form. “Why did you do that? Can you even grab anything like that?” Kurosu questions as she shakes her head. “Nope..but if he’s like other dogs then seeing me like this will…” Ellen starts to say before they hear growling as Ganishi starts to move to Ellen in her cat form.

“Oh I see..umm good luck then Ellen.” Kurosu says as the cat nods. “Wish me luck.” She says before she sprints away as Ganishi gives chase with Kurosu soon smirking. “Okay now the real challenge can start.” Kurosu says as he rushes after the dog who chases the cat. As Ellen jumps around from her rushing foe, Kurosu takes the chance to get closer and closer until he reaches his hand out and grabs onto the collar as he removes it in one quick motion as a buzzer soon goes off.

“Congratulations you win!” It says as Hayato enters the maze as Ellen reverts into her human form as the dogs looked confused before looking back at Hayato. “Hey boy.” He says as the dog looks down as Hayato pets him. “Hey don’t get down! You did your best. If it wasn’t for Ellen and Kurosu working together then you would have kept running circles around them.” He says as the dog looks and barks happily as he licks Hayato. “There ya go buddy back to full strength!” He says before looking at Kurosu and Ellen.

“Well then you bested me and Ganishi’s challenge so here you go!” He says handing each of them a pin as the duo smile happily. “Yes, that's one down two to go!” Kurosu says as he and Ellen high five. “Yeah, thankfully my plan worked. Although it was quite terrifying.” Ellen says as Kurosu smiles. “Well either way I am glad you decided to help out. It’s good that you had my back partner.” Kurosu says as he gives her a shoulder check as Ellen smiles and gives him one back.

In another part of the city two other teammates were making their way to their first trial. Although these two girls seemed to be a bit reserved compared to the others in spite of the looks that the pink haired girl was giving to her green haired teammate. Soon the pink haired girl broke through the silence. “So umm Lillian San what do you think of Labyrinth?” Tanomi questions as Lillian looks up.

“Oh it’s quite a nice place. Although I prefer the world my sister comes from.” Lillian says as Tanomi nods. “I agree although it is always trying to improve. It’s quite funny to think that the city is redemptive like us. Always trying to change and become better.” Tanomi says with a slight giggle as Lillian nods. “I suppose.” She says as Tanomi looks at Lillian and thinks to herself before smiling.

“Oh umm so Lillian San do you like flowers like your sister and the others?” Tanomi questions as Lillian pauses and nods slightly. “They are fine. I find them not as interested in books though.” Lillian says as Tanomi smiles. “Oh yeah that’s right I remember you mentioning you worked at a Library. Komachi San also works at our schools and she likes them.” Tanomi says as Lillian nods.

“That’s nice.” She says as Tanomi nods. “Yeah. As for me I am not as interested in it. Although I have picked up a few things to read. Rin got me interested in her favorite manga series although I am not as interested in it as her unfortunately. But when it got a movie a few months ago I watched it with her and we had fun. For me I love magazines and books about tenisis. Since I play it I find it fascinating to learn about the history of it and players as well as how others develop skills and techniques from it.” Tanomi explained as Lillian nodded. “I see. That makes sense, although I am mostly unfamiliar with those types of books at our Library.” Lillian says as Tanomi sighs.

“Yeah it’s less common at our school as well but I picked up a few good ones I like.” Tanomi says as Lillian nods but doesn't respond as Tanomi frowns as silence falls on them again. “So umm the map tells us that this way should take us to the first challenge. What do you think it may be?” Tanomi questions as Lillian looks at her. “Most likely a challenge to test mental ability if it is Shun San, physical if it is Hayato San, and I am unsure for Setsuna San.” Lillian says as Tanomi nods.

“She probably came up with something fun at the very least. Although the other two I think you hit the nail on.” Tanomi says as Lillian nods as Tanomi frowns again. “Do you have any idea of what you would do with the Cure Passion pass?” Tanomi questions as Lillian shakes her head. “I am not sure. To be honest I was not expecting to do an activity such as this.” Lillian says as Tanomi frowns.

“Why is that?” Tanomi questions as Lillian sighs. “It feels unnecessary.” Lillian says. “I mean that’s fair but don’t you wanna have fun?” Tanomi questions as Lillian frowns. “Not particularly. These types of things are not my desired ways to spend my time. Coming here was to help with my own feelings and I felt that worked somewhat. I feel it is unnecessary for me to be here right now.” Lillian says as Tanomi looks at her with a frown as Lillian looks at the girl and sighs looking down.

“I feel you might be better off alone Tanomi San. I am unneeded in your resolve to win this game, like my presence is unneeded with my sister and my mother.” Lillian states as Tanomi looks at her shocked. “Lillian San, why would you say such a thing?” Tanomi questions as Lillian frowns. “I apologize it might have been a bit too premature to say that. Allow me to elaborate. My sister told me that our father spoke to her during the meeting with White Hole Sama.” Lillian says as Tanomi nods.

“And he told her that he wished for me and her to get along and be a family together with mother since he couldn’t be there for us.” Lillian says looking down. “But I wonder to myself often why that must be the case. She has been nothing but kind to me since I learned of my origins but I see a pain in her eyes when she looks at me. I figured coming here would help and while it has a little, It’s undeniable and frankly it’s all too understandable to feel I am not necessary or that my presence may make things worse. I was the monster who attacked our apartment and hurt our mother.

I was the one who attacked Tsubomi San, Erika San, Itsuki San and even my own sister countless times. All in vain hope I would make my father who was corrupted proud of me. It’s pathetic and the fact that she and my father wish for me to get anything happy in the end is foolish in my eyes. You would be better off without me, without my dark presence even if I have been brought back to life thanks to the light. No matter what, I am a shadow of my sister and will never be anything m..” Lillian says before Tanomi can’t take it anymore and she does the one thing she can.

She opens her arms wide and wraps them around Lillian in a hug as she buries her face in the older girl's neck. “Tan..Tanomi San?” Lillian says shocked before Tanomi lets out a single word. “Never.” She says. “What was that?” She questioned as Tanomi let her head off her neck as she looked her dead in the eyes with a passion she was nearly startled by. “Never say that again.” Tanomi says with anger in her voice as Lillian is confused. “Say what again?” She questions.

“That you are nothing but your sister's shadow or that we would be better off without you. Because you're not. You're you. You're Lillian and you matter.” Tanomi says as Lillian gives her a confused look as the girl breathes in.

“When I was first brought back from the dead I wondered this same thing too. Forced to battle Nozomi again in the hopes of being able to overpower or at least damage her before Joker could come in for the kill. I was confused and scared to die again and so I fought Nozomi despite my heart and mind screaming at me not to.

And when I was at my wits end having broken down she came to me, brought me back up and gave me hope to fight for my future. To fight my so-called master and with her find a way to live and thrive. And I did. But I also soon wondered was I a burden to those I befriended? But then as I was on the cusp of being reincarnated I had dinner with Nozomi and the others. And during it I stirred the food for dinner which thinking of it now and even then didn’t feel as important.

But then during the meal Komachi said something I will never forget. How I made the sauce in the meal and how I added something to the group. How I mattered. And since then I have always remembered that line because no matter how hard things get, no matter how difficult some parts of being reincarnated was, no matter what difficulties I had with my feelings for Rin or my wants to join this group and enjoy my time with them, I always remembered that I mattered.

I have my role in life. As a sister, as a daughter, as a friend, and as a lover to Rin. And I think everyone has that same role to play. Everyone matters, no matter how little they think they do. Because what you think is little can mean a whole lot to someone else.” Tanomi says as Lillian looks at the girls shocked. “But..Yuri’s eyes..they show pain when she looks at me.” Lillian says as Tanomi frowns.

“That might be true. It might be due to losing her father and never having him back or her fairy or the fear she once had for you. But I will tell you something. Do you remember the night at the party when Yuri San introduced you to us and to the other Pretty Cures?” Tanomi questions as Lillian nods.

“A little bit yes but it is rather hazy from all the cures I met. I only remember the basics like their transformation phrases and names both civilian and cure wise. A lot of the other aspects are a little lost to me.” Lillian says as Tanomi nods. “Yes but do you remember the way that Yuri San looked that night?” Tanomi questioned.

“She was dressed in her normal attire although her shirt was stained due to Erika San dropping some juice on it. After which she had to get a spare shirt from Sorciere San.” Lillian says as Tanomi frowns a little but smiles. “More than what she wore, do you remember anything else?” Tanomi questioned.

"No..I am sorry Tanomi San.” Lillian says ashamed as Tanomi placed a hand on her own. “She was smiling.” Tanomi said as Lillian looked at her. “Smiling?” Lillian questions. “Yep. She had a happy smile on her face introducing you to the others. She wore it the whole night. It was quite a shock to me and others.” Tanomi says as Lillian shakes her head. “But she smiles often at home as well and with others. What makes that night so different?” Lillian questions as Tanomi nods.

“That’s true but Yuri’s smile when she’s with others can sometimes be fake. She normally has it to hide her feelings or worries. Erika San and the others have told us such. But that night it was clear she was happy. And she was happy because she made up with you and had you as a sister.” Tanomi says as Lillian looks shocked. “So then if you think her looking at you with pain shows she still feels resentment towards you, then what does her smile mean?” Tanomi questions as Lillian shakes her head.

“I don’t know.” She says. “It means she loves you dearly. As one sister to another I know what you had to go through was tough but I promise you have your own special role in the group and in your own life. So don’t go thinking you aren’t worth it or that you're just a shadow because you're not. You're Lillian and you are worth it. I know it, Yuri knows it. But, I want you to know it and believe in it.” Tanomi says as Lillian is shocked but then gives her a nod.

“I understand Tanomi San. I do apologize.” Lillian says as Tanomi smiles. “No worries Lillian San, I have been where you were so I understand. Although we should be getting to our location already. Are you ready to come with me?” Tanomi questions as Lillian nods before her face forms a new expression as a soft smile appears. “Yes. Let’s go and have some fun.” Lillian says as Tanomi’s smile brightens up as she nods.

Once the two had finished their Heart to Heart they had sped up a little and made it to the location. It would seem Lillian’s guess was correct as their first trial showed a library causing them to not be shocked at seeing Shun inside. Surprisingly though they saw other members of the group there namely Kiriya and Rio as they seemed to be leaving.

“Oh hello Kiriya San and Rio San how are you?” Tanomi questions as the two smile at the girls. “We're good, we just finished our first challenge. It wasn’t too hard. Although Kiriya helped more since he knew the other cures we were asked about.” Rio says as Kiriya smirks. “What can I say? Being here from the beginning does give me some advantages. Although you should do well. You two are good at memorizing.” Kiriya says as the two girls were slightly confused before the two boys left them as Shun walked up to them.

“Hello girls. I hope you are ready for your challenge.” Shun says as Tanomi smiles. “We sure are!” She says as Lillian nods. “Yes, what is the challenge, Shun San?” Lillian questions as he smiles. “Well I am sure you know by now that Labyrinth and its children have had a good deal of respect for the Pretty Cures especially after all the stories Setsuna tells them about.” Shun says as Tanomi nods.

“I remember a few times they would approach me and ask if I was Cure Dream since I looked so much like Nozomi.” Tanomi says as Lillian frowns a bit hearing that before Tanomi smiles at her. “But once I made it clear I was a different cure they still were very excited to see me transform.” Tanomi clarifies as Lillian nods.

“Exactly so then for today’s challenge I got one of the brightest youth of this city to come and quiz you.” Shun says as a girl approaches them. She was around the height of Mitsuki if not a little taller with shoulder length icy bluish white hair wearing a standard uniform they had seen from children in Labyrinth. It was a nice white button up outfit with a white skirt with snow blue highlights really fitting for her hair and finally wore white school based shoes.

“This is Mikori. She is one of the star pupils of the newest school in Labyrinth and I wish to give her the chance to try out her knowledge so she shall be your questionnaire on this challenge.” Shun says as the girl looks at the two with a soft smile. “Gooday to you, my name is Yukina. And today at Mr. Shun San’s request I shall give you questions for the challenge.” Mikori says as Tanomi and Lilian nod as they go over to a little corner of the building. The girl gave off a professional aura as she looked through flash cards as she gave them a intrigued look.

“Now then which teams do you two associate with?” She questions as Tanomi smiles. “I come from the Yes 5 Pretty Cure team.” Tanomi says as she nods as she gives a look to Lillian. “And I come from the HeartCatch Pretty Cures.” Lillian says as she nods and removes some cards before shuffling. “Now then with that out of the way here are the rules. You must answer 3 of these 5 cards correctly in order to pass. All these cards will have trivia on various Pretty Cures be it attack names, transformations, or random facts about them. To avoid easy answers the teams which you come from or associate with the most are taken out of the running to keep the game fair. You may talk amongst yourselves up to 1 minute to come to a conclusion what your answer will be. As a help you will have 2 options to use a hint but should you still fail to get an answer wrong then you would have two strikes against you instead of one. Meaning you can only get 1 wrong in that case and must answer the remaining cards all correct. Should you fail then you must wait at the entrance for 10 minutes before attempting again. And as you should know if any new teams come at that time then they shall take priority over yours.” Mikori says as the two nod. “If all that is understood let us begin.” She says as she reveals her first card front.

“Which Pretty Cure possesses the power of lighting?” She states as Tanomi and Lillian look at one another. “Hmm, that's a tricky one. Both Naigsa, Honoka, and Yayoi have the power of lighting in their finishing moves.” Tanomi says before Lillian nods. “That is true but the question is not all it is cracked up to be. Allow me to answer.” Lillian says as Tanomi looks at her and nods as she gives Mikori a smirk. “There are no Pretty Cures with the power of thunder. Nagisa San and Honoka San possess the power of light and Yayoi San possesses the power of thunder not lightning as all her attacks begin with thunder.” Lillian says as Mikori gives her a nod.

“You are correct. The answer was none of them due to the reasoning that you gave.” She says as Tanomi smiles. “Wow great job Lillian San.” Tanomi says as the girl nods. “Now then onto the next question. Which of these three Pretty Cures, Cure White, Cure Peach, or Cure Scarlet consumes the least amount of donuts.” Mikori says as Tanomi smiles. “I think I know, If you want me to go Lillian San.” Tanomi says as Lillian nods.

“The answer is Honoka San aka Cure White. Love eats donuts often and while Towa is more controlled than some on her team she often eats a lot when we have our parties. Meanwhile Honoka doesn’t really like donuts.” Tanomi says as Mikori nods again. “Correct again.” She says as she moves onto the third question. “Question three. Which one of these cures has a birthday the closest to the new year. Cure Egret, Cure Ace or Cure Whip?” Mikori states as Lillian and Tanomi look at each other.

“So I think it might be Ichika San because her birthday was just a few days ago and I think she’s the only one closest to the start of the new year.” Tanomi says as Lillian nods. “That is correct but look at the wording. It’s a bit complex. Since I believe Cure Ace has her birthday in December, correct?” Lillian says as Tanomi nods. “Then by that extent it could be either or.” Lillian says as Tanomi nods.

“That’s fair, maybe we can ask for a hint?” Tanomi questions as Lillian nods. “That would be the best course of action.” Lillian says as Tanomi nods. “We would like a hint Mikori San.” Tanomi says as the girl nods. “Very well you now have the risk of getting two strikes in a row but with that here is the hint. The date is before the new year.” She says as Tanomi smiles. “Oh then we know which it is. It’s Cure Ace or Aguri’s birthday.” Tanomi says as the snow haired girl once again nods.

“Correct.” She says as she moves onto the 4th question. “Cure Lovely has a secondary transformed state called Lollipop Hip Hop. In this form she uses an attack after transformation that goes "Pretty Cure Poppin Blank Attack”. Which word goes into it, Beat, Sonic, or Soundwave?” Yukina says as Tanomi and Lillian look at each other. “I am unsure what this Lollipop Hip Hop thing is, could you explain it to me Tanomi San?” Lillian questions as Tanomi nods.

“Oh well Megumi San has these cards along with the others on her team and they allow her to transform into a Pretty Cure form that allows them to create a power attack. Lollipop Hip Hop is one of them but I am unsure of the correct term since I never have seen her use it.” Tanomi says frowning as Lillian nods. “Would you be fine with us using our final hint on this one?” Lillian questions as Tanomi nods. “Of course. Anything to get a better idea.” Tanomi says as Lillian nods. “Very well then, Mikori San, we wish to use our last hint.” Tanomi says as she nods.

“Okay then the hint to this one is the word used has less than six letters.” She says as Tanomi smiles. “Then that means we have only two to use since Soundwave has more than 6 letters.” Tanomi says. “Hmm, given the general feel of these attacks and the name I feel beat would fit best with the type of name.” Lillian says as Tanomi nods. “Yep go ahead Lillian.” Tanomi says as she nods. “The answer is the attack is called Pretty Cure Poppin’ Beat Attack.” Lillian says as Mikori gives them a look. “Incorrect.” She says as both girls look shocked.

“The attack is Pretty Cure Poppin’ Sonic Attack.” She says as Lillian looks down. “Darn I thought that one was right.” Tanomi says. “Now with this one answer you must get the next one correct or else you fail.” Mikori says as Lillian looks at Tanomi. “My apologies Tanomi San. I wish I could have answered those questions better. I had no reference to it. And yet even with a hint I failed.” Lillian says despondent as Tanomi places a hand on her shoulders. “Hey common we still have one question left. We can’t get bent out of shape over one failure. As Nozomi tells me a lot, if we got mad every time we failed one thing then we would never be able to focus on getting something right.” Tanomi says as Lillian looks at her.

“That’s rather profound. And it came from your sister?” She questions as Tanomi nods. “Yep. Nozomi has her moments when she can be like that and I think that’s the perfect thing we need to think of. So then are you ready to answer the final question with me?” Tanomi questions as Lillian nods. “Okay Mikori San asked the final question.” Tanomi says as the girl nods.

“Finale question, Cure Pine’s transformation phrase involves her saying, The Yellow Heart is the emblem of conviction. Freshly - harvested, Cure Pine. Is this true or is this false.” She states as Tanomi and Lillain both look shocked. “That sounds familiar to what she says. Oh no I haven’t really had enough time with Inori San to really hear it.” Tanomi says as Lillian nods.

“I concur. The final line sounds correct but the first part I am unsure of.” She says as the two start to think. “Well umm maybe it is true I mean Inori is very convicted of fighting others and fighting like how Setsuna San is about happiness and Love San is about love.” Tanomi says as Lillian thinks. “Hmm.” Lillian thinks before an idea occurs. “No, I believe that is wrong. If we look at Love San’s for a minute her name connects to the word love in both japanese and english, Inori San meanwhile her name could mean to pray, wish, or to have faith. As such her title would not be an emblem of conviction but instead faith.” Lillian says but then looks down. “But what if I am misconstruing and conviction is correct.” Lillian says as Tanomi places a hand on her shoulder.

“Hey Lillain calm down. I want you to answer this one. I have well it’s kinda ironic to say but I have faith in you. Your logic makes sense and I believe in it. You just have to believe in it like how I told you before.” Tanomi says as Lillian looks at Tanomi as the girl shows her eyes are full of conviction as Lillian nods.

“Very well I will not second guess myself. I will have faith. Mikori San. The answer is false. Inori San or Cure Pine’s emblem is not of conviction, it is of faith.” Lillian says as Mikori looks at them and a smile escapes the previous very calm girl as she nods. “Correct. Congratulations to you two for you have passed the challenge.” She says as Tanomi and Lillian look at her and then to each other as they smile. “You two had quite strong teamwork in this challenge. It seems that’s something you have in common with the previous two teams.” Mikori says as Shun walks to them.

“That they are. Although a few teams coming up may be less than cooperative. But I am sure you will be able to handle them, Mikori.” Shun says as Mikori nods, smiling. “Thank you Shun Sama. I promise I will keep doing my best.” She says enthusiastically which is odd to see but Tanomi and Lillian still smile either way. “This is wonderful Lillian San we did it!” Tanomi says, holding out her hand for a high five as Lillian looks confused before nodding.

“Right, yes we did it. I feel..very happy Tanomi San. Thank you for having my back on this one.” Lilian says as Tanomi smiles. “Of course! I mean we're friends after all.” Tanomi says as Lillian looks at her before smiling brighter than ever before. “Yes! We are definitely friends.” She says as she thinks maybe this game was all worth it after all.

Our final group of focusing on seemed to be having an interesting conversation..although conversation is a bit of a tricky phrase given only one of them was talking. “But me and Oneechan made the cookies on time so everyone at the party was happy! Although ours were a bit burnt, but umm they were also tasty!” Mitsuki explains to Kaoru as the older girl was nodding to what the boy was saying although in her normal Kaoru type of way.

“You mentioned you made donuts with someone for Christmas through Kaoru Oneechan, so who was that? Are they a Pretty Cure?” Mitsuki questions as Kaoru looks at the boy and shakes her head. “No thankfully Minori has been spared from having to fight like her sister.” Kaoru response. “Oh right Minori San was her name. She is Saki Oneechan’s sister right?” Mitsuki questions as Kaoru nods.

“Yes she is.” She says as Mitsuki smiles. “Aww cool! I bet we could be friends if I got to meet her! Were both Pretty Cure siblings so we can talk about how cool our siblings are!” Mitsuki says before Kaoru frowns. “You can’t tell her any of that. She..she has not been told about her sister or any of us being Pretty Cures.” Kaoru says as Mitsuki looks at the girl and pouts.

“Aw, why's that?” He questions as Kaoru sighs. “Honestly it’s something most of us try to do. Barring some exceptions most normal people are not meant to know about our identities as Pretty Cures. It keeps them from worrying about us. And keeps some of us from breaking others' hearts due to our past.” Kaoru says as Mitsuki caught her looking at her own reflection in one of the buildings they were passing by when she said it.

“How would you have broken Minori San’s heart in the past?” Mitsuki questions as Kaoru sighs. “It is just due to what I did to her sister before me and Michiru went against Dark Fall. I tried to attack Saki and Mai numerous times both when me and Michiru were helping out one of the generals or when we physically fought them.” Kaoru says, looking at her hands.

“I don't know if I could face telling Minori what I once did to her sister. Or if she’d still..love me if I told her what I once was.” Kaoru says as Mitsuki frowns and tears up a little hearing that before he runs up to the girl and hugs her. “Kaoru Oneechan!” Mitsuki says as Kaoru looks shocked. “It’s okay! I am sure she will love you! I mean I love you already and I only met you!” Mitsuki says emotionally as Kaoru blushes a bit at the boy's emotional reaction as she comforts him with a pat on the head.

“Mitsuki. Maybe we can keep talking about this around the corner without others watching.” Kaoru says as Mituski looks up and then around seeing other citizens looking at them with confusion and some with sympathy and worry as Mitsuki nods. “Okay.” He said, still crying a bit as the two rounded the corner and sat on the step in one of the back alleys of the city. As they did Mitsuki was sniffling a bit as Kaoru brought out a tissue for him to wipe his eyes and nose.

Once he did, Kaoru began to speak. “Thank you for what you said to me earlier Mitsuki. It is rather kind of you to think that way.” She says as Mitsuki looks up. “Of course I mean it is true! From what I heard about you from my Nechan and Ruru you sounded cool!” Mitsuki says as Kaoru gives him a curious look.

“Hana San told you about me?” Kaoru questioned as he nodded. “Yep! She said you were a little scary at first but you're really cool and kind as well! And you make beautiful drawings which I think so too!” Mitsuki says as Kaoru frowns a bit at the “scary” comment but smiles at the drawing comment.

“I do admit I can come off a bit scary but I do thank you for the compliment of my drawing ability. Although I do admit I am nowhere near Mai or Yayoi’s abilities in the arts.” Kaoru says as Mitsuki looks shocked. “Wow but I thought you were one of the bestiest at it.” He says as Kaoru blushes a bit.

“Not currently but I hope to one day improve at it.” She says as Mituski nods. “I am not sure what I wanna do someday but when I do I know I wanna be good at it!” Mituski says as Kaoru nods. “I figured you would be a photographer in the future given how much you love to take pictures.” Kaoru says as Mitsuki looks shocked. “I like taking pictures but can I really do that for a job?” He questions as Kaoru giggles.

“Of course you can. There are a bunch of jobs requiring people who can take pictures.” Kaoru says as Mitsuki looks shocked. “Oh wow that’s so cool!” Mitsuki says jumping up and down as Kaoru gives a slight smile at the boy's enthusiasm. “Regardless though thank you for the pep talk before about me and Minori. I am unsure when I will tell her but I feel less worried now.” Kaoru says as Mitsuki looks at her and smiles.

“I am glad I helped you with that Kaoru Oneechan! Since you all helped me when I was feeling sad about who I was.” Mitsuki says as Kaoru frowns. “Of course I never want someone to feel that way, especially someone like you. You're a child and yet you have to face such sadness and that is not right. It’s also why I was worried about telling Minori the truth about myself. I worry she isn’t old enough to truly understand.” Kaoru says as Mitsuki sighs.

“But me and her are not babies! We can handle that kinda stuff as long as we have all of you supporting us and there for us. Besides, if she doesn’t love you anymore despite you being so cool then that’s her fault!” Mitsuki says defensively as Kaoru smiles.

“She wouldn’t..I should know that by now but I guess every now and then I fall into that mindset.” Kaoru says. “Well then let me be there to help! If you ever feel like that then I will be there for you! Like how I know you guys will be when I feel down about what I was.” Mitsuki says as Kaoru looks at the boy and nods. “Deal. But with that said, we should probably get to the first challenge.” Kaoru says as Mitsuki nods. “Mechoku! I forgot!” He says before he pauses again.

“Oh wait, let's take a picture first!” He says as Kaoru looks confused. “What for?” She questions as he smiles. “Cause here is where we made our promise! I wanna take a picture here so we never forget it!” He says as Kaoru looks and smiles nodding to the boy as the two take a picture before heading to the first challenge.

Said challenge and its location definitely made Mitsuki look very excited. “Oh wow this place looks fun!” Mitsuki says as the two face a center with the sign reading ‘Labyrinth’s Youth Center’ as Kaoru looks at it and gives a curious look. “Hmm I wonder what kinda place a youth center is.” Kaoru says as the two enter the building to see many children from Labyrinth running around and playing board games or activities with one another. As they entered Setsuna approached.

“Hello Kaoru San and Mitsuki San.” Setsuna says as both look at the purple haired Mitsuki smiles. “Hello Setsuna Oneechan!” Mitsuki says as the girl giggles a bit as Kaoru opens her mouth. “Is this where our first challenge is?” Kaoru questions as Setsuna nods. “Yep this challenge is something a bit more creative. Come back with me.” Setsuna says as she leads the two back only to find two other groups. One which seems to be finished and the other waiting on the side. The group finished as they walk up to Setsuna, Mitsuki, and Kaoru.

“That was a challenge but I think we got it this time.” Kiriya says as Rio nods as Setsuna smiles. “Seems the second time around you guys did good. How many points was the difference, Niori?” Setsuna questions as the blonde haired girl smiles, wiping sweat from her brow. “They got around 200 more than me together. Surprisingly they were close in terms of points although Kiriya Kun got a few less points than Rio Kun.” Niori says as Kiriya frowns. “I was just not used to dancing.” Kiriya says. “Sure sure just admit I bet you.” Rio says chockly as Kiriya gives him a glare as the others in the room roll their eyes. “Oh brother. Just admit Rio beat you Kiriya.” Regina says as Bibury sighs.

“Don’t say that you’ll give him a big head.” Bibury says as Rio smirks. “Can you really say that when you're just as bad.” He says as Bibury glares at him. “Oi you two stop it.” Setsuna says as the two shut up as Mitsuki looks confused. “What's that thing? Is that the challenge?” Mitsuki questions as Setsuna nods. “Oh right let me give you the rundown. This machine is a special donation thanks to Alice’s family. It is a special DDR machine for the children at the center. But I figured it would be a good challenge for a group of two to do.” Setsuna says. “Oh fun!” Mitsuki says as Setsuna nods.

“Yep the challenge is to have you and your partner face off against two members of the Labyrinth dance team.” Setsuna says as she shows off both Niori and another girl around her age with shoulder length pink hair. “Oh hello! Who are you?” Mitsuki questions as the two slightly older girls smile. “I am Niori. Nice to meet you.” Niori says with a toothy grin. “And my name is Azurai. Nice to meet you.” Azurai says bowing slightly as she gives
a kind soft smile. “Oh cool! I am Mitsuki Nano! Nice to meet you!” Mitsuki says as he shakes both girls hands as Kaoru smiles at the sight before bowing herself.

“And my name is Kaoru Kiryuu, it is nice to meet you.” Kaoru says as the two nod. “With that said, the game is to have your team face off against their team and the team with the most points in the end will win.” Setsuna says as Mitsuki smiles. “Oh that’s fun! We can do this right Kaoru Oneechan!” Mitsuki says as Kaoru nods as Setsuna smirks. “Just be sure to know these two are not pushovers. I have been teaching them with both this machine and some of Miyuki’s old lessons. They are rather skilled now.” Setsuna says as Regina sighs.

“Yeah that’s how we lost.” Regina says before giggling. “Well that and Bibury kept tripping.” Regina says as Bibury growls. “Oi I thought you said you wouldn’t mention that in front of everyone else.” Bibury says as Regina giggles. “I mean I tripped too. No harm ya know.” Regina says as Bibury rolls her eyes. “Wow you guys are that good?” Mitsuki questions as the two nodded.

“Yep we wanna be just as good as Love San and Setsuna San someday!” Azurai said as Niori smiled. “I also wanna get stronger by working out like this so I can be as strong as Hayato San someday!” Niori says as Mitsuki smiles. “That’s awesome! I hope you can do it!” He says as the two girls nod at him. “So then are you ready to get started?” Niori questions as Karou nods, taking up the first round.

As the two danced though it was clear that Kaoru did more than just well. While Niori was certainly a good dancer and able to move to the beat very well, Kaoru was like a machine. Each step she had to make she did perfectly with no time lost and with step by step movements barely seeming to break a sweat. By the end of the first round the score was 500 points for Niori and 750 points for Kaoru which was the max for the whole match. As she got off Mitsuki ran up to his partner happily.

“You did great Kaoru Oneechan!” Mitsuki says as Kaoru nods. “Thank you. It was quite easy, all things considered.” Kaoru says as Niori gets off her platform as Azurai puts an arm around her. “Hey it’s okay you did your best and that’s all that matters. Besides, I think I can get us the points we need to beat them.” Azurai says as Niori smiles. “Well you are the better dancer out of us so I think you’ll do well.” Niori says as Azurai smiles.

“Of course!” She says as she gets onto the platform. “Well it seems to be your turn Mitsuki. Do your best.” Kaoru says as Mitsuki nods but seems kinda hesitant. “What’s wrong?” She questions as Mitsuki frowns. “I don’t know if I will do as well as you did Kaoru Oneechan and if I lose then we have to wait for Regina and Bibury to have their turn again.” Mitsuki says as Kaoru looks at the boy and places a hand on his head.

“Hey don’t get down like that. I am sure you will do well okay. You're plenty skilled and from what you told me you have a good memory right?” Kaoru says as Mitsuki nods. “Then use that to your advantage.” Karou says as Mitsuki looks up as his positive smile returns brighter than ever. “Your right Kaoru Oneechan! Sorry to be so moody! I promise I'll do my best and get us the win!” Mitsuki says as Kaoru nods as Mitsuki takes his place on the platform as the next song begins.

During their round both seemed to have the opposite experience of the first round. While Azurai did better than Niori in just about everyday keeping perfect step with the song and having fun, Mitsuki was a bit stiff at first but eventually gained ground in it. His memorization seemed to be faster than even Kaoru but he seemed to struggle to make the fast movements with his feet that his mind was making on memorization. By the 30 second mark the score was 990 for Azurai and 900 for Mitsuki. But soon help would assist the young boy.

“You can do this MitsukI!” He heard Kaoru chanting for him. Hearing this the boy’s confidence soared as he thought to himself. “Be just like Oneechan..hooray hooray me. I can do this!” He thought as he soon started to match the perfect rhyme of Kaoru and Azurai as soon Azurai started to falter a little as the boy kept going and going until.

“Finished!” The machine called out as the round ended and both dancers got off the pads as the screen soon showed the results. Azurai and Niori’s team had a score of 1,100 while Mitsuki and Kaoru’s team had a score of…1,200! “Kaoru and Mitsuki’s team are the winners!” The machine called out as Mitsuki smiled brightly and gave Kaoru a big hug, nearly jumping into her arms as the bluenette was shocked and held onto the boy, regaining her ground quickly.

As they did, Azurai and Niori frowned a little before clapping for their opponents as Setsuna came over to them. “You two did great out there.” Setsuna said with pride in her voice as both smiled at Setsuna. “As did you, Kaoru and Mitsuki. Congratulations on completing the challenge. Here are your pins.” Setsuna says as both take them in strife with Mitsuki being overjoyed and Kaoru smiling at the boy. “With that said you should probably get going on the other two challenges, from what I hear other teams are coming here from Hayato and Shun’s challenges. So all of you better speed up.” Setsuna says as Regina and Bibury look ready to start their own as Mitsuki and Kaoru nod. “Common Kaoru Oneechan! We gotta win!” Mitsuki says as he soon drags the girl by the arm out of the center and into the city.

Claps of all kinds were heard at the original meeting place as the winner of the challenge took the two prizes and smiles together for a photo taken by Mitsuki (against the twos will) but either way, Rio and Kiriya happily took their reward as the others in the group gave praise or talked with each other. “Sucks we couldn’t win Ellen San.” Kurosu says as Ellen nods. “Yeah but at least we got third place so we did good on everything.” Ellen says as the boy nods.

“Sorry we didn’t win, Tanomi San. That DDR game was not the kinda game I am best equipped to deal with.” Lillian says as Tanomi smiles. “No it’s fine, really I had fun.” Tanomi says as the two exchange smiles. “Ahh we were so close to first place!” Mitsuki says childishly as Kaoru nods. “True true but Kiriya and Rio were ahead of us before we even took part. The fact we came close shows we made a pretty good team.” Kaoru says as Mitsuki nods but still pouts a little. Meanwhile, another team was yelling at each other.

“I can’t believe I had to team up with you.” Olivier and Ira say to one another as they then glare. “Oh yeah, say that to my face.” They say at the same time again as Hayato appears behind them smiling happily while patting them on their heads. “Hey you two are so close now you're in sync with each other. Kinda like Hibiki and Kanade ehh Ellen.” Hayato says before the two smaller boys knock his hands away as they punch him in the face knocking him to the ground together. As they do Ellen sighs.

“Yes quite true they are like Hibiki and Kanade.” Ellen comments. “So they are gonna date then to?” Regina pipes in as the boys blush. “What? Hibiki and Kanade are not dating? Where did you get that idea from?” Ellen questions as Regina gives her a confused look. “Wait really then who do they like?” Regina questions as Ellen sighs. “Enough with the romance questions Regina.” Setsuna says as Regina pouts as Setsuna continues.

“With that said all of our activities for the day are over so now I will start taking you back. Starting with Solciere and Phantom since you're both going to the Magical world tonight?” Setsuna says as the couple nods. “Yes we have a date night I believe the term is.” Solciere says as Phantom blushes a little as Regina perks up before Phantom sends her a glare that all the redemptives even Lillian pauses at, sending the blonde girl into silence.

With that occurring the other duos see each other off. “Well it’s been a pleasure to hang out with you today Kurosu.” Ellen says as Kurosu smiles. “Hey you used my name without San at the end. Guess that means I can stop saying it right?” He questions as Ellen nods. “Of course. We are friends after all.” Ellen says as the boy fist bumps the air in joy. “Awesome! Oh hey if you can come by the school during the weekend sometime maybe me and the guys can play you some of our songs?” Kurosu says as Ellen smiles. “That sounds lovely. Maybe I can bring my guitar and we can rock out together.” Ellen says as Kurosu smiles. “Ahh yes! We would bring the house down together.” He says. “Don’t I know it.” Ellen says as the two high five.

“So then Lillian San what are you up to for the rest of the weekend?” Tanomi questions as Lillian smiles. “I have a little light reading and a few homework assignments but all should go well.” She says as Tanomi nods. “Yep I gotta get ready for practice again. Our first big game is coming up in a few months so we gotta be ready.” Tanomi says as Lillian nods. “If I may come then I will gladly cheer you on Tanomi San.” Lillian says as Tanomi bursts out into a big smile. “You mean it!” Tanomi says as Lillian nods. “Of course you were my first friend in this group. What are friends for as you say?” She says as Tanomi nods as the two exchange a happy smile once again.

“Grouping with Towa was rather fun. I should do it more often.” Michiru says as Kaoru nods. “Kaoru Oneechan!” Mitsuki yells as he rushes to the girl as she smiles. “Hello Mitsuki. I hope you had fun teaming up with Kaoru. Congratulations on getting second place.” Michiru says as Mitsuki nods. “Thank you Michiru Oneechan! And yes it was so much fun! I hope we can do it again soon.” Mitsuki says as Kaoru smiles at the boy. “Would you like to come visit me, Saki, and the others some time. I am sure Minori would be delighted to make a new friend like you.” Kaoru offers as Mitsuki’s face positively bursts with excitement. “You mean it?! Yes yes I wanna go so bad! But I promise to keep the secret!” Mitsuki says as Kaoru nods.

“Good boy.” She says affectionately as Mitsuki hugs Kaoru happily. As they do so Regina watches and comments to Michiru. “So is she trying to pair up Mitsuki with Saki’s sister?” Regina questions Michiru as Michiru’s face pales. “Oh no.” Michiru says as Kaoru looks at both of them but mostly Regina with a glare. “Mitsuki and Minori are to YOUNG to date anyone, let alone each other.” Kaoru says with a dark aura around her as Regina looks scared and walks away as Kaoru then focuses down on Mitsuki and continues their hug for just a bit longer.

Yes in the end, it seems this new year has brought with it three new redemptives but at the same time the beginning of this year has sparked three new friendships as well. However, a certain light blue haired boy looks down at his prize with a smile on his face. “You know what you wanna use your prize for yet Rio?” Kiriya questions as Rio nods. “Yeah I think I have an idea. More like a perfect getaway to do something I have been needing to do for a while.” Rio says with a smirk.
