The monster's gone, he's on the run and your daddy's here

Summary:

He thought the tunnels didn't get him, nor the bullets, nor the crack in his head, but they did. He just made himself think they didn't for the sake of his daughter.

Everything stays the same except Tommy has a daughter that he treats like a princess, she was a preteen when he left for war so you make out how old she is as the story goes on. Timeskips from season to season.

If the math doesn't math for the years and age make it math since I certainly won't do it myself, I am aware the years don't add up but idc, just age them up a bit and it'll work.

Canon compliant for the most part except the ending of season 6, and after that it's just my own story.

Notes:

I wrote this for all of my people with daddy issues who sob over father-daughter stories and songs.

Cathy(Catherine)is Tommy's daughter, her backstory will be explained eventually but she was his reason to keep himself alive in France and the two of them are very close.

Chapter Text

"Where is he?!" Cathy yelled once she finally got into the Garrison, but she didn't have to wait for an answer since she heard her father scream out in pain from the huddle of men.

"Let me through, let me through damnit!" She said and pushed her way through the crowd just in time to see Jeremiah pull a bullet out of her father's chest.

"I told you to keep her in the house." Tommy said to his aunt, who came seconds after Cathy.

"Yeah well you also told me you won't almost die again." Cathy added and took the bottle her uncle was holding, seeing what he intended to do. "You can't just pour it over the wound, especially after god knows how many people drank from it." She said an reached over the bar for an unopened bottle, it was an extremely strong gin, that should do it.

"Calm down, the bullet didn't go deep enough to cause any actual damage." Tommy assured his daughter.

"Yeah that's what you said when you got back from war too, I had to hear from Freddie how you almost died. And from Danny how you three got buried alive." She said firmly, in the same kind of voice he himself used to get people to listen to him, and took the cleanest cloth she could find before thoroughly soaking it in gin.

"Come on, we know what we're doing." Arthur mumbled and took another swing from the bottle.

"Yeah, spreading infections I see." Cathy said and looked at her father. "This is form almost dying on me, again." She said and pressed the soaked cloth onto the wound. Tommy hissed in pain, that was fair and she was after all still helping him.

"Bandages." Cathy said and they were brought to the table next to her. "Hold it in place." She instructed and got to opening the bandages.

"Why did you let her go to that nursing school, good old techniques never hurt anybody." Arthur said, he loved his niece but she could be as bossy as her father, if not more.

"Good old techniques? You mean the ones doing operations without anesthetics and chopping off limbs for minor injuries that could be treated? If you want to go back to Victorian times I know I don't." Cathy said quickly and moved on with the bandages.

Once Tommy was taken care off she went around and took care of any other injured there were, among whom was Isaiah, who had a cut on his cheek.

"How did that happen?" She asked.

"Honest to God, I simply dropped my own hat and the razors cut me." He explained, clearly embarrassed.

Cathy couldn't help but laugh. "Well that's a way of getting injured in a fight." She said and started treating the cut, which luckily wasn't deep.

"Cathy, your dad is glaring at me in a way that makes me think he'll castrate me." Isaiah whispered. Cathy's face was extremely close to his since she was inspecting the cut.

"Nonsense, he knows about us, he won't hurt you." Cathy said and didn't bother to move an inch.

"No I really think he might kill me this time." Isaiah said, making Cathy turn around. Tommy, of course, looked away just in time and started talking to John as if he's been doing that for a while.

"Well, if you're so scared of my dad..." Cathy started, she was done with the wound and started cleaning up "...then here, tomorrow I'm going to the market alone, join me. If anyone asks you were kind enough to help me carry everything."

Isaiah nodded and went away before Cathy's father or uncles got to him. His father followed him soon after.

"Cathy, come here." Tommy said as they all went into the back room.
