Chapter Text
She was running for her life. If it hadn’t been for the lavender bag strapped to her chest, nobody would have known why. Olivia had stolen from the royal family.
Hearing footprints, her speed increases only for her partner, both in love and in crime, Flynn Rider to grab her and swing her out of sight.
Suddenly, a white mare by the name of Maximus catches scent of the two thieves and suddenly runs in the direction the odd couple ran. The scent stops only to reveal that the couple was in fact…hiding in a tree.
While those two hide, let’s take some time to introduce Olivia. Olivia Cane was a muscular girl with a short bob dyed brown. She was often carrying a lavender bag often known as a fanny pack. The bag was a gift from her late mother, a person that was always true to herself even when she unfortunately fell in love with the king. A person that was so completely spoken for that caused her to be banished, but granted the ability to return after she married with a child.
Similarly, her companion, previously known as Eugene Fitzherbert was born as royalty but he doesn't know (A/N foreshadowing but also why does Olivia know this but Eugene doesn't?). He was the only Royal Heir to the Dark Kingdom as it is known. Eugene had always assumed that he was an orphan, the son of adventurous people who passed shortly after he was born. Eugene had always been obsessed with adventuring because of it, to the point where he changed his name to reflect one of his favorite anti-heroes, Flynnagin Rider (A/N this is all canon, I do not own any of this.) Despite not knowing his royal background, most would say that Flynn as he prefers to be called, looks like a prince. He is just above average height at around 6’, and is decently underweight due to being on the run with the inability to afford food. He’s described as having dark brown hair that flows in the wind (it’s still short though), a small dark goatee that he somewhat hates but deals with because shaving is tedious. His eyes are a light brown, the color of a milk chocolate bar. He’s always seen wearing a vest of some sort.
The two hide in the tree, trying not to sit in shock over what they had acquired. Flynn almost falling out of the tree only to realize that he had actually snatched the lost princess’s tiara. Olivia had stolen the Coronian jewels that had been saved for if the princess was found and needed a suitor. The jewels were a ring that had a diamond surrounded by emeralds and aquamarine stones, a necklace that had a large emerald in the middle and other items. The cavalry had approached their general location, thankfully never looking up. When the stampede had subsided, the two shimmied down the large trunk of the oak tree, and began to sneak away. Unfortunately the two did not estimate for the white horse that was awaiting at the bottom for them. The horse, Maximus as he had been called, began to chase them while alerting the cavalry. Thankfully they had found a tower with a ladder that had seemed to be made up of something soft, silky, and very strange. They climbed up to hear a small girl singing. She was around their age, but seemed innocent.
Suddenly she had whirled around “Welcome Home, Moth…er”, her words caught in her throat, “You two are NOT my mother. Who are you and how did you get in here? Nobody besides my mother and I are allowed up here.” She demanded to know. As if the two had information that she didn’t despite the shocked and frightened look on both of their faces.
“We…how do we explain?” Olivia attempted to get out, her thoughts trailing away as she desperately attempted to put a puzzle together mentally.
“Hi, we are lowly thieves, we were on the run when we noticed the silky golden rope and climbed it. We had hoped that it was just an abandoned tower. Please do not hurt us” Flynn rambled, overtaken by her boldness and beauty.
“What rope? The only thing that allows people in is my hair. It’s extremely long and I’m not allowed to cut it. It’s a hassle really”, States the girl before realizing that she had let her hair down. “…Whoops.”
Meanwhile, Olivia had decoded a puzzle “Long hair that seems almost magical, locked in a tower, paintings of lights everywhere, constantly wearing a LAVENDER dress. This cannot be, but it has to be. I wonder if she knows who she is.” She thought, hoping she didn’t say it aloud, unfortunately she had.”
“Who is she? For starters, I am right here, say it to my face please. Of course I know who I am. My name is Rapunzel, I am the daughter of my mother, Lady Gothel. I am the next Lady Gothel, and I was to be trained as such.” The girl that is now noted as Rapunzel Gothel stated with pride.
“Ma’am are you alright, the last lady Gothel died over 18 years ago when she attempted to kidnap the Coronian princess.” Flynn states, realizing Olivia’s thought process.
“I am fine, thank you. The Lady Gothel in question was my mother’s mother. She did in fact pass, but she had hid my mother away after she became of age so the crown wouldn’t punish her like they had planned. Now, enough about my family. Who ARE you and why are you here?” Rapunzel explained before demanding answers.
“Olivia, lowly thief, ex-banishee of the Coronian kingdom. I am seeking revenge on them for banishing my mother and punishing her until she died. This doofus right here is Flynn. We were on the run from some of the cavalry regarding items they think we stole, and found this tower with your hair and climbed it.” Olivia rushed out, almost certain that they had just found the lost princess.
