Chapter 1: Chapter 1: The King Awakens
Chapter Text
Hey guys! I made this Godzilla x PJO crossover because I had this idea for a really long time, even before I made my first fanfiction, and watching a fan animation of Godzilla Earth only fueled my imagination. Also, because if i didn't make this, I would probably completely forget. Also, this version of Godzilla and the other kaiju will be based off of the Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters trilogy version, but the kaiju will have powers from several movies, and not just the anime. I also won't be updating as much here either, just around once or twice a month until summer break. (P.S, the fan animation is made by 華音 , or just search up MMD Godzilla Earth vs Ghidorah on YouTube)

The Avatar of Destruction comes from below to cast his judgment,
The Golden Demise wraps his wings around the world,
The Burning Mountain will clash with the Heavenly Lightning,
And chaos will ensue.
Chapter 1:
Godzilla was slumbering in a dense forest, in a valley between several mountains, appearing to be a mountain himself to any creatures smaller than him, when something touched him, or, more specifically, climbed up onto his snout, clambered over his teeth and hopped onto his nose. He ignored it. It was just a tiny creature. What harm could it cause to the King of Monsters after all?
Then it stepped on his eye. His eye. That fucking hurt. Godzilla decided to get rid of the annoying critter now. His body rumbled, making the pebbles tremble and the trees that had grown on his back shake. Godzilla allowed steam to erupt from his nostrils, and felt the creature scurry off of his eye in fright. That should do it.
Then the creature accidentally kicked a rock off the top of his head and it slammed into his already stinging eye. Godzilla internally sighed. What kind of critter was willing to die today? Wait, how did a creature of any kind get close without being roasted? He cracked open the eye that had been stepped on and looked around with his large electric blue eyes, searching for the annoying thing. His eye stopped as it spotted a tiny human… no, child was the term. It was staring at him in curiosity.
"What are you?" the child asked, his face not betraying fear even as the two had a staredown. "Can you help me? I got lost, and I don't know where to go."
Godzilla grumbled. Don't step on my eyes.
"Sorry about your eye. I didn't mean to step on it." The child looked up with innocent sea-green eyes. "Also about that rock…" The child rubbed his head sheepishly.
Godzilla was confused. The child could hear him? And it could handle the radiation emission?
The child looked up. "Yeah, I can hear you. I don't know what radio-ation is, though."
The Avatar of Destruction looked at the child with curiosity now. Why was this little human lost here?
"Well…" The child kicked a pebble across the dirt. "I sorta… ran away. I don't like Smelly Gabe. He smells bad." The child waved a hand in front of his nose, waving away an imaginary stench. "But I wanna get back to my mom, even if I have to deal with him. You look really big, so can you help me find my way back? Please?" The child looked up with wide, pleading eyes.
Godzilla let out a puff of steam. He could… but that meant he had to do work for a lesser being. He was a King! The great King of Monsters, at that. He helped only himself, and the earth itself, wiping away those that dare poison it. Though, on second thought, if he was within the child, he could go ahead and see if the humans have polluted the earth again, and if they were a lost cause. Godzilla nodded to himself. Move aside, child.
"O-oh! Okay!" The child scrambled a few dozen meters away, and the ground around Godzilla's body started rumbling, shifting as the Kaiju stood.
Godzilla stood up slowly, and everything that had been built on top of him tumbled away, revealing a metallic-like hide, his skin shaped like thick tree bark, and there was dense musculature showing along his body. Massive maple leaf-shaped dorsal plates ran down his back in three rows, starting at the nape of his neck and going all the way down to the tip of his tail. His legs were huge, his toes looking like moss covered them, and both his legs and arms were human-like in appearance, and his face seemed to have a gentle and calm expression, and the teeth were infused with his skin, the jaw curving up, almost into a smile.
The child stared in awe as Godzilla rose to his full height of over three hundred meters, towering over the surrounding hills. Then Godzilla leaned down, holding a hand out to him to climb on, lifting the child to eye level.
What's your name, Little One?
"I'm Percy! What's yours?"
… I am Godzilla Earth. The Burning Mountain.
Manhattan, Metropolitan Museum of Art:
Percy had enough of Nancy Bobofit. That little shit kept throwing pieces of her sandwich - and ew, was that ketchup in a peanut butter sandwich? He finally lost it when a piece of it hit Grover's hair, sticking into his brown curls.
"That bit-"
Grover held him down, shutting him up with a hand over his mouth. "It's okay, I like peanut butter."
"But-"
"You're on probation already, Percy," Grover reminded. "You'll get blamed if anything happens."
Percy stewed in his seat, reluctantly following Grover's advice. Some steam escaped from Percy's nostrils as he contained his anger.
You should listen to your friends more, Little One.
Percy huffed in frustration. Fine.
Later, when they arrived at the museum, Mr. Brunner led the tour. He wheeled around the Greek and Roman exhibits, guiding the class through long corridors, marble busts of random people that were probably important, and cases filled to the brim with ancient tools and jewelry.
The class gathered first around a column with a sphinx on top, a girl carved into the column. A stele. Mr. Brunner droned on and on about the grave marker, and Percy zoned out, allowing Godzilla to help him remember what Mr. Brunner was talking about.
This was not what I imagined I would be doing when I entered your life, Little One.
Percy snorted in faint amusement, then noticed everyone was looking at him. Mr. Brunner looked at him with an eyebrow raised.
"Mr. Jackson, what is amusing to you?" he asked.
"Nothing, sir. Just thinking about something."
Mr. Brunner pointed at an image on the stele. "Perhaps you could tell us what this image is about?" he asked kindly.
Percy stared at the image. It was a carving of a large man opening his mouth wide, holding a small baby.
This is the Titan, Kronos eating his children, the gods…
Percy repeated Godzilla's explanation. "This is the Titan, Kronos, eating his children, the gods. His wife, Rhea, hid Zeus away in a cave, and brought a rock for Kronos to eat. And when Zeus grew up, he made Kronos eject his siblings from his stomach. Then he started a ten year war that the gods eventually won."
There were some snickers, and Nancy whispered into a friend's ear. "As if we'll need this in real life."
"Any why, Mr. Jackson," Mr. Brunner spoke, hearing Nancy, "to paraphrase Miss Bobofit's question, does this matter in real life?"
"Busted," Grover snickered.
"Shut up," Nancy said, her face turning redder than the ketchup in her shitty sandwich.
Percy thought for a moment, and hushed Godzilla before he could answer for him. He wanted to do this himself.
"Well," Percy brought a finger up to scratch behind his ear. "The Greeks made stories of the gods to make sure that they don't make mistakes themselves, so they could be good in life by making the right choices based on those stories."
"Excellent answer as expected, Mr. Jackson," Mr. Brunner praised. "Full credit. Now, on that note, let us depart for lunch. Mrs. Dodds, if you would kindly lead us outside."
The class drifted off, following Mrs. Dodds and Mr. Brunner outside, shoving each other and giggling.
Outside, overhead, a storm was brewing above Manhattan, swirling around the Empire State Building in an almost unnatural way. No one else seemed to mind it, all of them doing their own thing. Grover and Percy sat on the edge of a fountain, eating their lunches as they watched middle schoolers be idiots.
Percy tore through his lunch, scarfing down several cheeseburgers and downing half of his one gallon water bottle. He gave vegetarian enchiladas and his apple to Grover, who happily accepted the meal.
Percy looked towards Uptown Manhattan, sensing his mother close by, just a mile away. He didn't want to disappoint his mother, so he tried his hardest. And yet, this was his sixth school he'd attended. Percy sighed, and turned his gaze back towards the plaza.
He watched as Mr. Brunner sat in his wheelchair that Percy swore was a transformer, as it currently looked like a cafe table on wheels. Then, Nancy Bobofit walked up towards Percy and Grover with her friends, dropping her half-eaten sandwich into Grover's lap
"Oops," Nancy said, grinning as Grover looked at the abomination of a sandwich with shock. Percy stood up suddenly, towering above Nancy and her friends. They saw an apparition appear before them, and it opened it maw, and roared.
"Eek!" Nancy fell backwards into the opposite fountain, completely drenching her, even though it only touched her legs. Then she pointed at Percy. "Percy pushed me!" she shrieked.
Mrs. Dodds appeared out of nowhere next to Percy, making sure Nancy was okay, pulling her out of the fountain, then turned towards Percy. "Now, honey, come with me."
Percy nodded, and was about to go when Grover stepped between them. "It was me! I pushed Nancy."
Percy looked at Grover, before lifting him off the ground and setting him off to the side. "It's okay. We'll be back." Percy's voiced suddenly distorted at the last part, then he left, following Mrs. Dodds, who had materialized on top of the stairs, into the museum.
When Percy went into the museum, Grover decided to rush over to Mr. Brunner, who was reading a… manga?
Percy followed Mrs. Dodds into the Greek and Roman gallery, in front of a marble carving of the Greek gods, and she started growling.
"You've been giving us problems, honey," she said.
"Of course, ma'am."
She turned around, an evil fire burning in her eyes. "Did you really think you could get away with it?" she hissed.
"With what?" Percy asked in confusion.
Thunder shook the building, the thick window panes shuddering in their frames.
"We are not fools, Perseus Jackson," Mrs. Dodds said. "It was only a matter of time before we found you out. Confess, and you shall suffer less pain." She waited for a response, but there was none. "Well?" she turned towards him fully.
"I don't-"
"Time's up!" She hissed, her eyes starting to glow, her fingers turning into talons, and her jacket melting into large, leathery bat wings.
"Damn, you're even uglier now," Percy said bluntly.
"Graah!" Mrs. Dodds launched forwards, slashing her talons across Percy's chest. She smirked as she made contact… then screeched in pain as her talons broke against incredibly tough skin. "What is this?!"
"The power of a king," Percy said, his voice distorted, sounding like two voices speaking at once. One of a teenager, and one of an ancient being, yet powerful. "And now you die."
His clothes had been slashed beyond repair, and beneath was gnarled dark hide, shaped like tree bark, which was slowly receding to reveal unharmed, tanned skin layered over sculpted musculature. Then Mrs. Dodds felt something going into her back and out her front.
"How…" Mrs. Dodds then slowly turned to dust, her heart having been pierced by five long talons.
I always told you something was wrong with that teacher.
"I know, I know," Percy said, then frowned as he felt a sudden distortion in the air, which then faded away. "Did you sense that?"
Of course I did. Now let's head back outside, Little One.
Percy walked back outside, heading towards the fountain, where Grover snored, a map on his head, and Nancy was still soaking wet, chatting with her friends.
Nancy turned around to face Percy. "I hope Mrs. Kerr whipped your butt."
"Who?"
"Our teacher, duh!"
Percy turned towards Grover, asking about Mrs. Dodds, but Grover asked, "Who?"
Finally, Percy turned towards Mr. Brunner, and asked, "Sir. Where's Mrs. Dodds?"
Mr Brunner frowned. "Percy, as far as I know, there is no Mrs. Dodds in Yancy Academy. Are you feeling alright?"
There you go guys! Chapter 1 of the Advent of The Burning Mountain has broken through 2000 words! I hope you guys liked this chapter. Also, I don't think the beginning half was good, so please don't yell at me about the crappy intro. But, luckily I had my Beta to help. Also, as the story progresses, I'll reveal more and more about Godzilla's past in this story, and how he managed to merge with Percy. See you guys next time!

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: The King's Return From School
Chapter Text
Okay, I know, I said this won't be updated as much as my others, but I had some writer's block in my other stories since I had this fanfic circulating in my mind for a whole week. I also just did this because why the fuck not. So, without further ado, here's chapter 2.

The Benevolent Queen of Monsters, the Goddess of the Houtua, Mosura, the Giver of Life, revered by her Singers, twin sisters birthed every generation. The King of Monsters, the God of Destruction, Gojira, the One Who Burns, brings every being that hears its name to its knees. The King and the Queen rule the world of the monsters together, an inseparable duo, leading their followers against anyone who dares to endanger the great earth from which they came from.
- Lost text of the sunken Temple of Gojira
Chapter 2:
Mosura knew something was up when she sensed her King's disappearance. Of course, Gojira moved around every couple of years, that was to be expected.
But what was not expected was him just disappearing into thin air, the mountain he had been supporting collapsing. How had he vanished just like that? Of course, he could have just gone into a human form, but even then, Mosura would've been able to sense his presence. The only one she could sense in the area was a… human boy.
No, not just a human boy. No normal human would be able to withstand the radiation emitting from Gojira's body, so therefore…
That boy was a demigod. And not just any demigod, but a child of the Big Three. Demigods were known for their endurance, strength, stamina, and resistance to most ailments. This also included exposure to radiation, but only a child of the Big Three could nearly permanently cancel out the effects.
She still remembered those little superhuman murder machines from the during and after the Titanomachy. After all, she fought on the side of the gods. But that was a memory for another time. Right now, she needed to find Gojira.
Mothra expanded her senses, feeling around for… there! She latched onto her mental link with her King, setting a course towards where the link had led her. And she ended up at the demigod child she had sensed earlier.
When she landed right in front of him, he stumbled a little, nearly falling over at her sudden appearance. Greetings, child.
"Who are you?" the child asked, regaining his balance. He stuck his hand out as if asking for a handshake before retracting it awkwardly. "I'm Percy, by the way."
Mosura thought for a moment, before answering. I am Mothra, the Benevolent Queen. Would you happen to know why my King is within your body?
Percy scratched his ear. "Well, he said he would help me find my way back to my mom. So he came with me, and now he's stuck inside me. So, uh, sorry?"
Mothra shook her head. There is no need for apologies, Percy. After all, my King was the one who chose to bond with you. And if my King has decreed that he follow you, then I shall follow you too.
"But how will you come with us? I mean, you're a giant moth. I'm pretty sure some people would freak out. No offense, though."
Then I shall simply do this. Mothra spread her wings wide, suddenly glowing even more than she had before. The light lasted a few moments before it faded away. Percy blinked a few times to clear his vision before looking at the bluenette child in front of him.
"Hi!"
Yancy Academy, four years later:
Percy laid on his back on his bed, months after he had killed Mrs. Dodds. He held up a framed photo of him, his mother, and his adopted sister, Mothra. He sighed, placing his picture down on his nightstand, tossing his blankets over himself and turned in his bed. He knew his grades were dropping quickly, even with Godzilla's help. He knew that he would be kicked out of Yancy soon enough, unable to pass with his grades.
He wanted his family back home in their cozy apartment in the Upper East Side. He would even put up with his asshole stepdad just to be back. But he'd miss Grover, and Mr. Brunner, the only two people who had made him feel welcome in Yancy during his year there.
It's alright if you can't make it here, Little One. You know your mother and Mothra won't be disappointed in you, even if you were kicked out of another school.
Percy was just about to reply when he heard something accidentally knock into his door, and the sound of footsteps racing away, fading with each step. He decided to follow, having nothing better to do. He followed the footsteps to Mr. Brunner's office, which was slightly ajar, and he saw two shadows moving around in the light that stretched across the hallway.
"...I'm just worried about Percy, sir," Percy heard Grover say. Percy froze, his hand just inches away from the doorknob. Now, Percy wasn't known for his stealth, but he tried his best to keep quiet. He tilted his ear in the direction of the door to listen better.
"... alone this summer," Grover continued. "A Kindly One, in the school! Now both we and them know for sure, and-"
"If we rush him, we would simply make matters worse," Mr. Brunner said. "But he fought off the Kindly One himself. He is a natural fighter, but we still need him to mature more."
"We don't have time. The summer solstice deadline-"
"Will have to be resolved without Percy. Let him keep his ignorance while he can."
"But sir, he fought her…"
"The Mist over everyone will convince him to believe it was his imagination," Mr. Brunner insisted.
"Sir, I can't fail my duties again," Grover said, choking up. "You know what would happen to me."
"You haven't failed, Grover," Mr. Brunner assured. "I should have known what she was. And also, Percy's abilities are concerning. What's even more concerning is what happens when you touch him for even a moment. You saw the burns yourself, Grover-"
Percy's feet thudded against the floor as he raced away from the office and into his own room, shutting the door quietly, before falling back onto his bed. He had hurt Grover, hadn't he? He should've known better than to forget his gloves. Even if he wasn't constantly releasing radiation into the environment, just touching his skin would cause mild radiation burns. He didn't want to think about what would have happened if he had let Grover touch him for a long enough time.
How could I have not noticed, Percy thought.
It's alright, Little One. It's not going to leave lasting damage to your friend, at the least.
He heard Grover open the door and shuffle into the dorm. "Hey," he said, looking at Percy. "Are you ready for tomorrow's test?"
Percy didn't answer.
Grover frowned. "Is everything okay?" He reached out towards Percy, and he saw the slight burns on Grover's fingers.
"No!" Percy shuffled away from Grover in his bed, tossing his covers over himself. "Don't touch me."
Grover looked hurt. "Alright. Good night, Percy."
On the last day, Percy ended up on the same bus as Grover, who sat next to him on the aisle seat. Grover kept looking back, as if something bad was about to happen on the bus. Then he couldn't take it anymore, placing a gloved hand on Grover's shoulder. "Looking for Kindly Ones, Grover?"
Nice way to start a conversation, Little One .
Percy ignored Godzilla as Grover nearly leapt out of his seat. "W-what do you mean?"
"I heard you and Mr. Brunner talking about it the night before the exam."
Grover's eye twitched. "How much did you hear?"
"Just some. What's the summer solstice deadline?" Percy asked.
"Percy, I was worried for you. I mean, hallucinating about demonic math teachers-"
"Cut the crap. You're terrible at lying."
Grover's ears turned pink. Then he fished out a business card from his pocket. "Take this, alright? Call me if you need me this summer."
Percy looked at the card, trying to read the contents. Luckily, Godzilla didn't have dyslexia.
"What's Half-"
"Don't say it out loud!" Grover yelped. "That's my… uh, summer address."
"Okay," Percy said. So Grover was rich, huh? "So if I want to come to your mansion…"
Grover nodded. "Or if you need me."
"Why would I need you?" Percy asked.
Grover blushed even harder than before. "Percy… look, the thing is… I kinda have to protect you."
Percy was dumbfounded. Even Godzilla was surprised. Grover? Protect him? If anything, Percy was the one who protected him.
"Grover. What are you trying to protect me from?" Percy asked.
Then, the bus stopped suddenly, the bus grinding to a stop. The passengers all got off as the driver attempted to fix the bus on the side of the highway.
The group of passengers were on a country road, with a fruit stand nearby. The fruits looked fresh, heaping boxes of them, and cider was in a tub full of ice. And there were three old ladies behind the stand, knitting a massive pair of socks.
The one on the right knitted one, the left knitted the other, and the one in the middle held a massive basket full of blue yarn. And all three ancient ladies were staring right at him.
Grover paled, starting to sweat buckets. "H-hey Percy. Don't tell me they're looking at you."
"Yeah. Weird, huh?" Percy walked towards the old ladies.
Grover tried to lead Percy back to the bus. "No! Don't go there. Oh my gods." Grover retreated behind the bus, peeking over to watch Percy.
Percy reached the fruit stand, and the three ladies stared up at him. He stared back. They held their gazes for just another moment.
Percy pointed at the cider. "I'd like one please."
He pulled out a few dollars and handed it over, then opened the bottle and took a sip. Then the ladies handed him his change. Percy held up the coin to his face, and looked at it. It had a picture on it, one of… Godzilla. Percy choked on his drink, and turned towards the ladies, who had disappeared. Then he heard a snip somewhere, like someone cutting a length of yarn.
Percy really should listen to Grover more.
Percy ditched Grover at the terminal. He didn't mean to. Actually, he did. Grover was freaking him out, and so, Percy hailed a taxi. "East One-hundred-and-fourth and First," he told the driver.
Percy entered the apartment just fifteen minutes later, and walked into a veritable wall of stench. He sighed, stepping further into the apartment, locking the door behind him. He walked through the living room, where Smelly Gabe was having a poker party with his buddies.
Smelly Gabe barely looked up. "So you're home."
"Where's my mom and sister?" Percy asked.
"Working. Your sis is out too," he said. "Got any cash?"
"Not for you," Percy answered.
Gabe raised an eyebrow. "You took a taxi from the station. Probably paid with a twenty. Got around seven bucks in change. If you expect to live under this roof, you oughta carry your own weight, am I right, Eddie?"
Eddie looked at Percy with sympathy. "Come on, Gabe. He just got home."
Gabe glared. "Am I right?" he repeated.
Percy sighed. "Fine." He pulled out the change from the taxi, tossing it at Smelly Gabe. Luckily, Percy still had money left. "Hope you lose."
"I wouldn't act like that, boy! Your report card just came!"
Percy ignored the walrus and trudged into his room, slamming the door behind himself. He looked around the room, completely clear of Gabe's stuff and his stench. Clearly, it was Mothra's handiwork.
"A King can't stay in a dirty room," was what Mothra said to Percy as her reason, even when he told her it was fine to leave his room as it was.
Percy sighed and dropped his suitcase onto the bed and sat beside it, holding up the Godzilla coin he had gotten before. "Any ideas, Big G?"
This looks familiar… Yes, it is a coin from a city that worshiped me millenia ago. It has long since sunken beneath the waves. But I think I know how those old hags got the coin.
"How?"
I must tell you something first, Little One, before I answer that question. You are a demi-
Then Percy heard his mom's voice. "Percy?"
We'll continue this later, Godzilla.
His mom opened the door, and rushed over to Percy, hugging him tight. "Oh, Percy. You've grown so much since Christmas!"
She held up a bag of candy filled to the brim with blue sweets that she brought home from her job. Percy immediately started to stuff his mouth as his mother stroked his hair and asked to know about everything.
How his mom was completely immune to his radiation was anyone's guess. Percy and Godzilla, however, believed it was just because she was his mom.
"Come on, Mom." Percy gently pushed her arm, handing her a chocolate bar.
"I'm just so glad to see you, Percy."
Then Gabe yelled, "Hey Sally, how about some bean dip?"
Percy gritted his teeth, his anger boiling, but Sally put her hand on his shoulder. "I have a surprise for you," she said, face lighting up. "We're going to the beach."
Percy looked over in surprise. "Montauk?"
"Three nights, same cabin."
"When?"
"As soon as I get changed."
Gabe appeared in the doorway just then. "Bean dip, Sally. Didn't you hear me?"
"I was on my way, honey," she said to Gabe. "We were just talking about the trip."
Gabe's eyes narrowed. "You mean you were serious about that?"
"He's not gonna let us go," Percy said glumly.
"He will," his mom reassured. "He's just worried about money. Besides, Gabriel won't have to worry about the seven-layer dip. I'll make him enough for the whole weekend."
Gabe grunted. Apparently that was enough to bribe him. "So the money for the trip… it comes out of your clothes budget, right?"
"Yes, honey," Sally replied.
"And you won't take my car anywhere but there and back."
"We'll be careful."
Gabe scratched his non-existent chin. "Maybe if you hurry with the seven-layer dip. And maybe if the kid apologizes for interrupting my poker game."
Percy growled softly, but his mom's eyes warned him against making Gabe mad.
"Sorry for interrupting your very important poker game. Go back to playing poker now," Percy said.
We should fuck him up. Send a boat up his ass.
I actually think that could fit into Gabe's ass.
Gabe's eyes narrowed before he turned around. "Yeah, whatever." Gabe went back to his game.
Sally turned towards Percy. "When we get to Montauk, we'll talk more, okay?" She ruffled Percy's hair before going to make Gabe's seven-layer dip.
Later, Gabe watched as Percy carried Sally's bags to the car.
"Not a scratch on this car, boy. Not one little scratch," Gabe warned. When Gabe turned away, Percy rolled his eyes at Gabe. As if Gabe could even hurt him.
Next stop: Picking up Mothra from school, then Montauk.
2500 words, people! Also, I know that Mothra being Percy's sister was kinda unexpected. I didn't even have that idea originally, cause I'm just winging everything. But it's fun. I'll update A New Life next. See you guys later!

ahmedimrannaeem885: Thank you!
Whatif-inator: I see you've taken an interest in this fanfic too! Don't think I've never noticed you, I still have to thank you for giving me ideas for my other fanfic, Of Heroes and Monsters. Also, Godzilla is technically allied with Gaia, but not really…? He's just protecting the big rock, not the goddess. And is he a creation of Gaia…? You'll see.
Gamelover41592: Yes, let us see where this goes! Also, thank you for being the first review on chapter 2!

Titanus Gojira is a plant in the depths of the woods, in the most dangerous area where the monsters thrived. Only twice have I seen it, once was when it was just on the edge of a clearing. It was a spiky one, jagged plates in the shape of leaves coming out of the ground, about ten meters long. And it could move just ever so slightly. The second time… well, it came to me. Not like a spore, seed, or in pieces, flung by the wind, no. It stood up and walked. And it turned my house into ash and fire in an instant! I got away from it, and I am writing in this journal now to whoever may find it. Do not aggravate it. And do not let it see you. Because if you do… It will find you. And you just might end up in flames.
- Account from a lost journal in a cave in Greece
Chapter 3: First Contact
Mothra was the Queen of Monsters. The Benevolent One. The Giver of Life. Goddess of the Houtua. And she was attending middle school in Manhattan in the body of a preteen. Of course, it wasn't like she didn't like it. Humans were interesting to watch, especially in their development stage. Humans also had wonderful inventions. Do you know what ice cream is? Mothra was addicted to it. And the internet! You could search up anything on a box made of metal and glass that lit up. That was very helpful in integrating into human society.
And friends! Of course, Mothra had kaiju friends, but human friends were good too. They were very funny, and talked to her about human males and who they wanted to mate with. It was confusing, but also interesting to watch them talk about. They also giggled and pushed each other and did random things that she did not know why they did it. Like going to the bathroom in large groups. That was weird.
But even though Mothra had friends, she didn't have what most people called "BFFs," which was basically what they called their best friends. That title was only reserved for friends who could provide support and was a person's closest friend. That was weird too. If that was the case, then everyone should be best friends. Humans were weird. But entertaining.
The bell rang, signaling the end of the school day, and everyone around her rushed to their bags and raced out, glad to be out of school. Summer break had officially started. Mothra packed her bag and got up, walking out of the building a minute later, pushing through the crowd.
She reached up and loosened her hair tie, taking it off and shaking her head, her blue hair flowing in the wind as she raced towards the corner of the block. She could see Percy and Sally waving at her, standing in front of a car.
"Hi!" Mothra leapt and hugged Percy, and he patted her head.
"Hi, Mothra!" Percy pulled her towards the car. "Come on! Get in, get in!"
"Okay!" Mothra quickly hopped into the car, putting her bag on the seat next to her. "Montauk?"
"Montauk!" Percy confirmed excitedly, sliding into the shotgun seat as Sally turned the key in the ignition. "Step on it, mom!"
The rental cabin was little more than a little blue box, half swallowed by the dunes on the very tip of Long Island. It was the perfect place for someone like Percy. He loved the rolling waves and the long, sandy beaches. It was also far away from the chaos of civilization, so it was just him, his mom, Godzilla and Mothra, enjoying the sound of the ocean waves crashing on the shore.
They got there at sunset, cleaning up the cobwebs and sweeping the sand out of the house. They walked along the beach, feeding the seagulls chips and ate blue candy. At night, they roasted hot dogs and marshmallows over a roaring fire.
Percy sat silently, plucking marshmallows off his stick and popping them into his mouth as he listened to his mom tell him and Mothra stories.
"Hey mom?" Percy asked.
"Hmm?"
"What was dad like?"
"Oh, sweetie." Sally's eyes became misty. "He was kind. Tall, handsome, and powerful, but gentle. He had black hair and green eyes, just like you. He would be so proud of you if he were here to see you now, Percy."
What's so good about a kid who's been kicked out of six schools in six years? Percy thought.
Don't think that, Little One. Godzilla tried to cheer him up.
Yeah! Mothra added.
"Are you going to send me away again?" Percy asked.
Sally stared at her marshmallow. "I don't know. But we'll have to do something."
"Do you not want me around?" That struck a chord.
Tears welled up in Sally's eyes. "No, it's not that, Percy. I-It's for your own good. I have to."
"Because I'm not normal."
"It's not a bad thing, Percy. But you're important. I thought you'd be safe at Yancy Academy. That it was far away enough."
"Safe from what?"
Sally met Percy's eyes. "I wanted to keep you as close to me as possible. They said it was a mistake. There's only one other option."
"My father wanted me to go to a special school?"
"Not a school," she said. "A summer camp."
Percy was bewildered. A summer camp? Why would his dad, who hadn't even stayed long enough to see him born, mention a summer camp?
"I'm sorry, Percy. I couldn't send you to that place. It might mean saying good-bye to you for good."
"But it's only a summer camp…"
Sally turned away and Percy stopped asking questions.
Percy walked through a forest, holding a lantern in front of him to illuminate the dark path before him. It was midday, and yet, within the forest, it was dark as night. He used his other hand to part the dense foliage with a long knife, clearing himself a path through. He didn't know why he was here, but he'd make it through.
He had slashed his way through into a clearing just about thirty feet in diameter. Sunlight came in through the canopy above, allowing light to shine upon the center of the clearing. And in the middle was a plant. But Percy knew this was no plant. He'd seen those leaf shaped objects before.
Percy tried to speak, but found he couldn't. He just knelt down and touched the large protrusions, feeling the rough surface beneath his palm. Then he jolted upright, shocked by an electrical barrier.
"This is truly a fine discovery," he said. It wasn't his voice. It was someone else's. "I've never seen anything quite like this."
Percy whipped out a scroll and a stylus and began to write a description about the plant.
"...and done!" He waited for the ink to dry and sat down, watching the plant. "What are you?"
It shifted slightly, just enough for him to notice. "Huh. Would you look at that?"
Then Percy's head shot up, hearing a distant howl. "I must leave post-haste!"
Then Percy's dream shifted to Montauk beach. The oceans raged and the skies churned as a white horse and a golden eagle rushed at each other, fighting in the shallow waters. The eagle dealt a blow to the horse, raking its claws across its muzzle, and the horse whinnied, kicking its legs at the eagle. The ground shook as they fought, lightning flashing around them.
"Stop!" Percy held his palm out. The eagle dived down, aiming for the horse's eyes. "No!" Percy roared, a blue light appearing in his palm, energy collecting from his Asymmetrical Permeable Shield. Right before it fired, everything went dark.
Percy shot up in bed, soaked in sweat. He saw lightning flashing and heard the waves pounding the beach outside. With a sudden thunderclap, Sally and Mothra woke up.
"Hurricane," Sally said, eyes wide.
Over the wind, they could just hear a distant roar, and someone knocking frantically on their door.
Sally rushed to the door and unlocked it, revealing Grover.
Grover shivered. "Searching all night. What were you thinking?" he asked Percy, who stared at him.
Sally looked at Percy in terror. "Percy! What happened at school?"
Percy kept staring at Grover, who had goat legs and hooves instead of human legs and feet.
"It's right behind me!" Grover yelled. "Didn't you tell her?"
"Tell me now, Percy!" Sally yelled.
"Uh, Mrs. Dodds was a bat monster and there were three old ladies knitting socks by the highway."
Sally's face paled, then she grabbed their essentials, tossing a jacket and a pair of gloves to both Mothra and Percy. "To the car! All of you!"
All of them rushed to the car, slamming the doors as Sally revved the engine and stomped on the gas.
Percy stared out the window, stroking Mothra's hair softly to calm himself down. Lightning flashed, thunder roared, and rain pounded down all around them. Percy closed his eyes, concentrating just a little, and expanded his Asymmetrical Permeable Shield to cover the Camaro just in case.
So. Did you know this would happen? What is happening in the first place? Percy was kind of pissed that his trip was ruined in less than twenty-four hours.
…Yes and no.
Well, that doesn't tell me jack shit.
Percy! Don't curse! Ah, right. Mothra was a psychic.
Well, frankly, I'm pissed. So tell me why this is happening to me.
…I was going to tell you before the Montauk trip. We were interrupted. But, to continue, you are a demigod. More specifically, a demigod child of Poseidon. You are powerful, Little One. And even more so with my powers. That is why this is happening to you. Things are changing in this world right now, and anyone within a mile of you can tell just how powerful you are. They want you, your power or your death.
Well that certainly explains a lot. So gods exist, huh?
I expected you to be more angry.
I am. But I'll deal with my anger later. Right now I'll just focus on getting us out of here safely.
"So you're not gonna ask questions?" Grover asked.
"I'll wait till we make it out of this mess. Then you'll answer all my questions." Percy tilted his head towards Grover, his eyes phasing into an electrical blue and his pupils becoming slitted. "Every single one. Got that?"
Grover nodded so hard he almost got whiplash.
"Where are we going?" Percy asked his mom.
"The summer camp I told you about," she answered. "The place your father wanted you to go."
"Where you didn't want me to go."
"Please, Percy," Sally begged. "You're in danger."
"Okay."
Sally swerved around a dark figure on the road. "We're almost there. Another mile. Please."
Suddenly, Percy and Mothra sensed something, snapping their heads towards the roof of the car before something behind them exploded with a blinding flash and a thunderous shockwave.
The car tilted forward, skidding through the dirt and mud before settling into a ditch. The car was fine because of Percy's shield, but the impact would rattle the occupants.
Percy shielded Mothra from the worst of the impact, and grabbed Grover before he hit his head. Sally was the only one who wore a seatbelt, so she was fine, just a little banged up. Grover was somehow unconscious even though Percy had caught him, and Mothra and Percy were the only ones completely unscathed because of their kaiju-like constitution.
"Percy! Mothra!" Sally shouted.
"We're fine! Grover's unconscious, though…" Grover was lucky Percy was wearing his gloves right now. He could've gotten off worse. Way worse. According to Godzilla, at least.
"Food…" Grover groaned. Percy rolled his eyes. Same old Grover.
"Percy! We have to…" Sally faltered.
They looked back, watching as a massive man stalked towards them. Percy sniffed the air. Not a human…
A monster, Godzilla confirmed.
"We have to go. Now!" Percy slammed against the door hard enough to make it crumple like tissue paper, and Percy wrenched the door off its hinges.
Sally's jaw dropped. "Percy? How…?"
"No time! Let's go!" Percy did the same to the driver's door, allowing his mom to climb out of the car, then Percy tossed Grover over his shoulder. "Where do we go?" he asked.
"You see that big tree?" Sally pointed at a massive pine tree on the crest of a hill. Percy nodded. "That's the property line. Get over the hill, and run towards a big farmhouse in the valley. Don't stop until you reach the door."
"You're coming too, mom."
Sally looked down at the ground.
"You're coming with me, mom." Percy grabbed his mom's hand, pulling her towards the hill, looking back at the monster. Its horns gleamed with every flash of lightning, and it was covered in shaggy, damp fur.
"He only wants you, Percy. Besides, I can't cross the property line." Percy was about to argue, but Sally shushed him. "No time. Go, please."
"No! We're all going together, whether you like it or not. Mothra! Let's go!" They ran through the rain.
Percy looked back again, the monster now close enough to be seen. "Is that the-"
"Yes. But don't say his name. Names have power," Sally warned.
Percy went faster, practically dragging his mom and Mothra uphill. The Minotaur sniffed the Camaro, then grabbed it and threw it down the road, where it promptly exploded.
"When he sees us, he'll charge. Wait until the last second, then jump out of the way. He can't change directions well when charging," Sally said. "I should've expected this, but I was selfish. I wanted you near me."
The minotaur roared, lumbering up the hill. Percy hefted Grover up and tossed him past the tree and over the hill. "I'll toss you all up before he comes." He grabbed Mothra next, sending her up the same way.
He was about to send his mom up too when she stopped him. "I can't go. I can't get past the border, Percy."
Percy frowned. "I'll take care of the monster. Go somewhere safe."
Just then, the Minotaur started charging, his horns aimed at Percy. "Jump, Percy!" Sally shouted.
Percy held out his hands and reinforced them with Godzilla's scales, grabbing the horns and stopping the Minotaur in his tracks. Percy's eyes glowed a frightening electrical blue. "You die."
Percy stomped on the Minotaur's face, and ripped the horns out of his skull. The Minotaur roared in pain, holding the sides of his head. Percy tossed the horns to the side. "I'll beat your ass six ways to Sunday."
The Minotaur roared in Percy's face, slobber flying everywhere. Percy wiped his face in disgust. "On second thought, I'll just kill you right now." Percy's spine flashed blue, each vertebrae lighting up one by one, his body glowing in the darkness. When it finally reached his skull, an aura appeared in front of his face, and Percy released the energy in a single, powerful burst. The Minotaur had no time to register the pain, his head instantly reduced to nothing, and the rest of his body falling apart, crumbling into golden dust.
Percy spat on the dust. "You've really pissed me off." His vision was then obscured by a bright, blinding light, and Percy whipped his head around to find the source. When his vision cleared up, he saw his mom, frozen in time and disappearing as if she were a holographic projection.
"No! NO! NO!" Percy felt sadness. He felt grief. And he felt rage. He screamed, an EMP pulse releasing itself from his body, the blue shockwave traveling for miles, shutting down every electrical item in its path. Cars stopped working, lights shut off, and towns lost all functionality.
After what felt like an eternity, Percy then felt Mothra's hands on his back. "Sleep." And the last thing Percy saw before his eyes closed were Mothra, an old man and a young blonde girl leaning over him with worry on their faces. Then he blacked out.
Well, that's a wrap. I hope you guys liked the chapter! I'll be updating A New Life next.

Different types of gods exist. One type is the usual, humanoid beings that harness the elements for their benefit and for ours. They can control nature on a whim, whip the seas and skies into a frenzy with their rage, and destroy armies by themselves. The second type is different. They are massive animals, capable of destroying cities in under twenty paces, can destroy mountains by turning, and fight many gods at the same time without tiring. They are the Kaiju. Monsters. Made by the earth to protect it from harm. But what will they do when there's nothing to harm it but us?

Chapter 4: Camp Initiation
Percy snapped awake, shooting up in his bed. His arms scrambled to grab onto something and settled for the sheets, his nails digging into them like talons. Percy breathed in and out. In. And out. He calmed down enough to look at his surroundings. He was in a plain white bed in a plain white room wearing an orange t-shirt. He looked at a tall glass of what seemed like apple juice. His stomach rumbled and his throat was dry.
You must drink, Little One.
He grabbed the glass and downed it in a few gulps, not caring if it was poisoned or not. Godzilla would detoxify it if it was, anyway. Strangely, it tasted like his mother's blue cookies: his favorite comfort food. He sighed in content as he felt his aches disappear. Percy got up and stretched, feeling lighter than ever.
Then, Percy heard footsteps heading towards his room, and he prepared for combat. When the door opened, he saw Grover walk in. Grover was startled when he saw Percy staring at him with his arms outstretched like he was about to strangle him. Percy rubbed the back of his head. "Sorry."
Grover waved his hand. "No, no. It's alright. I wanted to check up on you… And give you this." He passed a shoebox to Percy, who accepted it.
When Percy opened, his hands clenched, crushing the lid. Inside were two Minotaur horns, the same ones he had ripped off from that monster's head. "My mom… Is she…?"
Grover looked down at his shoes– his fake shoes– and sniffled. "It's all my fault," he bawled. "I'm the worst satyr in the world. A failure," he bemoaned.
Percy spotted his gloves on the nightstand, and pulled them on. "It's… It's fine. Where's Mothra?"
"S-She's outside," Grover said. He then saw the empty glass on the nightstand and his eyes widened. "W-Wait! You drank the entire thing?"
Percy tilted his head. "Was I not supposed to?"
"Well, usually, if you drank that much in one go, you'd probably spontaneously combust."
"Oh… But nothing happened. I won't combust. Now let's go to Mothra." Percy stared at Grover, his eyes turning into glowing slits again. "You'll answer my questions later, like you promised. Got it?"
Grover gulped and nodded. Percy turned away. "Good. Now, lead the way." Percy gestured towards the door.
Soon enough, they reached the porch outside the house, where two men, a girl, and Mothra played a card game.
"Mothra!"
Mothra!
Percy ran towards Mothra and wrapped her in a hug, squishing her as she squirmed in his grasp. "You're suffocating me."
Percy released the bluenette, and studied the others who were on the porch. One of the men looked like a drunk cherub wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Percy sniffed the air, sensing power that rolled out of the man in waves.
A god, Godzilla said.
"That's Mr. D, the camp director," Grover said, noticing Percy's stare. "The girl is Annabeth Chase, a camper. And Chiron… Well, you already know him." Grover pointed to the man in the wheelchair.
Percy's eyes widened in surprise. "Mr. Brunner?"
He looked up at Percy and smiled kindly. "Ah, Percy. Do you know how to play pinochle?" Mr. Brunner patted the seat next to him, and Percy sat down, feeling the gazes of Mr. D and Annabeth. Mothra sat beside Percy, watching.
Mr. D sighed as he dealt out the cards. "I suppose I have to say it. Welcome to Camp Half-Blood. There. Don't expect me to be glad to see you."
"Okay." Percy picked up his cards. "You're a god. Am I right?"
Mr. D looked up curiously as Mr. Brunner, Grover, and Annabeth looked at him in shock. "Why yes I am, boy. Now, tell me, how did you find that out?"
Percy shuffled through his cards. "You have all of that power rolling off of you. It's hard not to notice."
"Oh?" Mr. D quirked an eyebrow. "A sensor, eh? Which god do you think I am?"
Percy thought about it for a moment. "Dionysus. You look like a drunk. Sir."
Mr. D's eyes blazed for a moment before chuckling lightly. "Well, it looks like someone's smart. But don't go say my name everywhere, boy. Names have power, after all. You're an interesting one, Percy Jackson."
"Why thank you."
"Do you know how to play pinochle?"
"I have some experience."
"Good."
The others looked at this interaction with surprise. Mr. Brunner cleared his throat. "Annabeth, would you check on Percy and Mothra's bunks? We'll be placing him in Cabin Eleven for now."
"Sure, Chiron." Annabeth looked at Percy. "You drool when you sleep." Then she ran off towards the cabins, her long blonde hair trailing behind her. Mothra giggled.
"So, you work here, Mr. Brunner?" Percy asked, bidding one of his Minotaur horns.
Mr. Brunner shook his head. "I'm not Mr. Brunner, Percy. That was a pseudonym. Call me Chiron."
"Okay." Percy placed down a royal marriage. "Trick."
"I'm glad to see you alive, Percy. It's been a while since I've personally gone to see a potential camper. It'd have been a waste."
"You came to Yancy just to teach me?"
Chiron nodded. "I wasn't sure at first. But you made it here alive, so that's a good thing."
"Grover, are you playing or not?" Mr. D asked.
Grover trembled as he sat down. "Yes, sir!"
"Now, what is this place?" Percy asked.
Chiron scratched his chin. "Well, there's so much to tell. I'm afraid the orientation film wouldn't be enough."
"I already know about gods and all that jazz," Percy said. "Tell me what the place is."
"We'll set up a tour for you around the camp soon. And this is Camp Half-Blood, a safe haven for demigods."
"Like me."
"Like you."
Mr. D looked at the card game. "I believe I win."
Chiron placed a straight. "Not quite. The game goes to me."
Mr. D sighed, and stood up. "I'll be taking a nap before the sing-along tonight. But first, Grover, we'll need to talk about you performance last night."
Grover gulped, his Adam's apple bobbing. "Yes sir."
Percy pointed at the retreating figures of Mr. D and Grover. "Is Grover gonna be okay?"
"He'll be fine. Mr.D just hates his job" Chiron said. "He doesn't want to wait another century until he returns to Mount Olympus again."
"There's an actual palace there?"
"No, not on the actual mountain. The heart of Western Civilization has moved their palace to America. Everywhere here, the Olympians are prominently displayed, as everything moves with the great power of the West. Right now, the palace is above the Empire State Building."
"Explains the giant cloud above it."
"Now, Percy, Mothra let us go. There are new friends to meet, and new things to learn. And there will be s'mores tonight." Chiron stood up, revealing a horse half coming out of the wheelchair as he did so, leaving his wheelchair behind. He smiled kindly at them. "Come, you two. Let's meet the other campers."
Percy piggybacked Mothra, and followed Chiron through the camp, passing by the volleyball pit. Campers stopped and stared at them, whispering and nudging each other. Most were teenagers, wearing orange Camp Half-Blood t-shirts. Percy sensed a chill behind him and turned, his vision locked onto the window in the attic.
I sense a disturbance in the Force, Godzilla said.
Please don't quote Star Wars. Percy turned back towards Chiron. "Is there anything up there?"
Chiron's smile faded. "Not a single living thing." He turned back towards the camp. "Come on, now, Percy. Lots to see."
They passed by the large strawberry fields that were growing. "It pays for our expenses," Chiron explained. "Takes almost no effort to grow." As if on cue, a satyr played his reed pipes, and a patch of strawberries started to grow insanely fast, looking like a timelapse.
Percy and Mothra peered into the woods that took up more than a quarter of the valley. "The woods are stocked, but if you want to go in, go armed."
"Why?"
"You'll see," Chiron said, smiling. "Capture the Flag is Friday night. Do you have a sword and shield?"
"Huh?"
"I suppose not," he said. "I'll check the armory later."
They looked through the archery range, the lake, the stables, the amphitheater, and the arena.
"There are fights here?" Percy asked.
"Cabin challenges. But non-lethal. Oh, and there's also the mess hall." He pointed at a pavilion which had no walls, no roof, but had columns for some reason.
Humans are strange.
Chiron then showed the cabins, which were arranged in a U shape, and each one looked completely different from each other. There was a commons area with a large hearth in the middle, and a nine-year old girl tended to it. She waved at Percy and Mothra, who waved back.
They then reached Cabin Eleven, which looked like an old summer camp cabin, and saw Annabeth sitting on the steps reading a book.
"Ah, Annabeth," Chiron greeted. Annabeth's head perked up. "Would you take Percy and Mothra from here? I have an archery class to teach at noon."
"Yes, sir."
Chiron nodded at the cabin. "Make yourselves at home, Percy, Mothra." Chiron galloped away.
Percy and Mothra followed Annabeth inside, which looked like an evacuation center with the amount of people stuffed into the cabin.
"This is Percy Jackson and Mothra Jackson," Annabeth said.
"Regular or undetermined?"
"Undetermined," Annabeth answered.
Everyone groaned. Then a guy with a scar under his eye came up. "Now, now, that's what we're here for. Welcome, you two. You guys can have that spot right there."
Annabeth blushed as the guy came over. "This is Luke, and he'll be your counselor for now."
"How long are we going to be here?"
"Until you're determined.
"Good enough."
"Come on," Annabeth said. "I'll show you the rest of the camp."
"Okay." Percy allowed himself to be dragged along by Annabeth outside the cabin.
When they got out, Annabeth pulled her hand away, hissing in pain. "Ow! What was that?" Percy looked at Annabeth's hand, seeing dry and slightly peeling skin.
"Don't touch me," Percy said, backing away a few steps. As Annabeth nursed her hand, Mothra subtly healed it bit by bit.
Percy looked back at the cabin again. "Why can't they just move to another cabin? There are plenty."
Annabeth looked at him warily. "It depends on your parent. Your godly one."
Then, someone interrupted them. "Well! A couple of newbies!"
Percy looked at a girl who was walking towards them, as well as the group following behind her. They were big and mean-looking, walking with confidence.
Annabeth sighed. "Clarisse, why don't you polish your spear or something?"
"Sure thing," Clarisse said. "So I can run you through with it Friday night!"
"Erre es korakas!" Annabeth cursed. "You don't stand a chance!"
"We're gonna pulverize you," Clarisse said. "Who're the runts?" she asked, even though Percy was taller than her by about half a foot.
"Percy Jackson, Mothra Jackson, meet Clarisse, daughter of Ares," Annabeth introduced.
Percy sighed, and put Mothra down. He rolled his neck and cracked his knuckles. "A daughter of the war god? Let's duke it out."
Clarisse grinned wolfishly. "I'm starting to like this guy!" She cocked a fist back. "I'll go easy on you!"
They clocked each other in the face at the same time, and Clarisse fell backwards, a red imprint on her face. "You're good at punching, runt," Clarisse said, before succumbing to unconsciousness.
Annabeth stared at Percy in shock. "I think… I want you to be on my team for capture the flag."
"Cabin Eleven, fall in!" Luke lined up the kids from the Hermes cabin, leading them to the dining pavilion. The other demigods from the other cabins came out too,all marching into the mess hall. Satyrs hurried over from the meadows, naiads came out of the water, and dryads melted from the sides of the trees and skipped over.
Torches lined the columns, lighting up the pavilion, and a large bonfire raged in the center of a large bronze brazier. The demigods sat at their parents' tables, and the Hermes table was way too overcrowded for someone as large as Percy to sit. He wasn't comfortable sitting next to people anyway. They'd get radiation poisoning. Percy instead used his Asymmetrical Permeable Shield to form an invisible chair under him, so it looked like he was sitting on an invisible seat. Mothra sat on the invisible chair next to him.
Grover sat next to Mr. D at table twelve, and Chiron stood off to the side. Annabeth sat next to a bunch of blonde kids that looked like her, and Clarisse sat laughing and belching with her friends.
Chiron stomped his hoof against the marble tiles and raised a glass. "To the gods!"
"To the gods!" Everyone raised their glasses.
Dryads came around serving platters with every type of food Percy could imagine. Luke nudged Percy and pointed at the glass. "Speak to the glass and tell it what drink you want. Nonalcoholic, of course."
Percy stared at his goblet. "Blue Coke."
The glass filled with the soda. Percy grinned and took a few sips. Mothra asked for the same drink.
Luke handed them barbecue. "Here you go, Percy, Mothra." Then Luke got up and motioned for them to do so as well. "We have to get up for this part."
Percy and Mothra looked at the campers heading towards the bonfire, shoving the best portions of their food into it. They looked at each other. Demigods were weird.
They followed Luke to the bonfire, and watched as he tossed a cluster of grapes. "Hermes."
Percy tossed in a little scrap of his food. "I dunno."
Mothra gave a couple of strawberries. "Percy's dad," she whispered.
When they reached their tables and finished eating, Chiron pounded his hoof against the ground again, and everyone went silent.
Dionysus sighed, getting up. "Hello, brats. The activities director, Chiron, says the next capture the flag game is Friday. Currently, Cabin Five holds the laurels. Personally, I couldn't care less. Also, welcome our two newest campers, Percy and Mothra Jackson. Now go on to your silly campfire."
Everyone cheered, heading to the amphitheater. They ate s'mores and told stories, and sang campfire songs, and when it was late in the evening, everyone filed back to their cabins, and Percy and Mothra fell asleep in their sleeping bags.
And somewhere, a mining operation collapsed, and something woke up, opening its eyes. Time to feast.
There you go, guys! 2500+ words! Also, try to guess where the last part came from! I'll be updating A New Life next. See you guys next time!

Chapter 5: CTF
Percy liked the camp. There were plenty of outdoor activities to do. Like archery. He shot Chiron in the tail by accident though. Foot racing was another activity. But he was kinda slow. Mothra beat him by half a minute. Activities where strength was involved was where he did best. He wiped the floor with the Ares kids in wrestling. Canoeing was a big no, as he broke a hole through a canoe when he sat down. Ancient Greek lessons weren't an outdoor activity though, and he didn't really like it.
He felt the eyes on him and Mothra during every activity, watching to see who their godly parents were. He had to suppress his snicker. Mothra was pretty much an actual goddess, and he himself had what was basically a god inhabiting his body.
They couldn't figure out who his parent was. He excelled at everything that required strength or brute force, so some thought he might be an Ares kid. But he was way too strong to be one. A few campers thought he might be the second coming of Heracles. And many believed he was a child of the "Big Three," whatever that might be. But no one knew what to make of him or Mothra.
Percy kinda wished his dad would send a message or something.
A few days after their initiation, Percy and Mothra received their first sword fighting lesson, with Luke as the instructor. Luke had Cabin Eleven pick their swords, but Percy and Mothra couldn't find a sword that felt right. The problem was that all the swords were too light. It took some control to not accidentally send their swords into the stratosphere.
We're kaiju. We are much stronger than even actual gods themselves, Little One.
Percy shrugged and stood over a massive sword that didn't even have a bench to itself, and was instead left on the ground. It was a zweihander, about six and a half feet long and about a foot wide, with a red tassel attached to the pommel. The parrying hooks were curved spikes that were pointed towards the tip of the sword, and the blade had jagged spikes not unlike a leaf, which grew smaller towards the tip of the blade. And it was a dark green, so dark it was almost black, and the material had a bark-like pattern running down the entire sword.
Percy picked up the sword, and the instant his hand touched it, it glowed an electric blue for a second before it dimmed. He ran his hand along the flat of the blade and frowned in thought. Same energy signature as me.
That's one of my dorsal plates. Very sharp. Very deadly. Perfect weapon for you. But I'm not sure how they got their hands on that, or how they even managed to forge it.
Mothra ran over to Percy, holding a massive glaive twice as tall as herself, with a familiar white material for the blade itself.
Percy pointed at it and whispered. "Is that one of your scales?"
Mothra beamed. "Yeah!" She waved her glaive around, with some campers' jaws dropping at the sight of a massive weapon being waved around easily by a girl half its size.
Luke clapped his hands twice, and the attention turned to him. "All right, campers! We'll be moving into pairs now for sparring! Feel free to choose your own, but Mothra and Percy will be joining me, since this is their first time! Let's get moving!"
"Good luck. Luke's the best swordsman in over three hundred years," a camper told Percy and Mothra.
Percy smiled. "Maybe he'll go easy on me."
The camper snorted. "Yeah, right."
Luke ushered Percy and Mothra over to him, the other campers sparring in pairs and watching the trio. He hefted his shield up, facing the siblings. The son of Hermes nodded in Percy's direction. "Show me what you've got."
Percy hefted the greatsword with both hands, one on each handle of the blade, pointing the tip at Luke, who stood a few yards away. Steam escaped his mouth as he exhaled. Then he moved.
Luke met Percy in the middle with his shield, blocking the swing with a grunt. Luke spun around, allowing the blade to slide off to the side, and he slashed upward. Percy swung his greatsword around to catch the blade in his parrying hooks.
Luke smiled. "Nice catch!"
"Thanks."
"But keep your guard up!" Luke unhooked his blade from Percy's and slammed his shield into his chest, sending him stumbling back. Luke winced at the pain in his forearm. "How the hell do you weigh so much?"
"I eat."
Luke deadpanned. "Yeah, no shit!"
The two continued to spar, Luke pointing out mistakes and openings in Percy's guard, but he couldn't beat Percy, even if Percy was an amateur. After a while, Percy switched out with Mothra. Luke sweatdropped at the massive glaive in the tiny girl's hands. The bluenette didn't even break a sweat from carrying it..
Mothra, like Percy, was also unable to be beaten because of her small stature, which allowed her to dodge easily, and her large glaive, which gave her a longer range.
After a while, Luke called for a break, and everyone swarmed around the drinks cooler.
Percy drank his water, feeling even more energized than when he had nectar a couple of days ago.
"Alright, everybody circle up!" Luke said. "I'm going to give you all a little demo, if Percy doesn't mind." Luke picked up a sword. "I'll be demonstrating a disarming technique, where you twist your enemy's blade with your own to force them to drop theirs. This is difficult, so that's why I'm going to show it to you."
Luke demonstrated on Percy, coming in close and hooking the blade around Percy's and grabbing Percy by the shoulder, then twisting his arm around, forcing the demigod kaiju to drop his sword. The zweihander fell to the ground with an explosion of dust, cracking the ground. Huh. So that's why no one picked it up.
"Now for real," Luke said, after Percy picked the sword back up. "We keep sparring until one of us pulls it off. Ready, Percy?"
Percy nodded, and Luke charged. Luke slashed at Percy, who caught the sword with the parrying hooks again and sent it to the right. Luke used the momentum to go for a sweep with his leg, but Percy stepped back, dodging it. Luke's blade glinted in the light as he spun all the way around, and Percy blocked the slash with his blade. Luke sent several thrusts, a shower of sparks flying as Percy blocked with the broad side of his zweihander, then sent an overhead strike.
Luke narrowly dodges, a few of his hairs sheared off as the massive sword passed overhead. Luke grinned. "I thought I just saw the underworld there!"
Percy smirked back, and decided to use the disarming maneuver. He stepped forward and twisted his body to the side, allowing Luke's thrust to slide past him, and swung his sword around, hooking onto Luke's blade. Then he continued forward, and swung their hooked blades all the way around, forcing Luke to let go. There was stunned silence as Luke's sword clattered to the ground.
Then Luke's scarred face broke out into a grin. "That was fantastic, Percy! Show me again!"
Luke's blade clattered to the ground a second time. The third time though, Luke sent Percy's clattering out of his hands.
"Beginner's luck?" a camper said.
"I don't think so," Luke said, wiping the sweat off of his brow. "Good job, Percy."
Friday afternoon, a few days after the sparring session, the sibling duo sat with Grover next to the lake, watching the campers row their canoes and naiads weave their baskets.
"Did your talk with Mr. D go well?" Percy asked.
Grover turned pale. "Y-yeah. Just great."
"So your career's still on track, huh?"
The satyr turned towards Percy. "Chiron told you about the license?"
"No."
Mothra tugged at Percy's sleeve. "He looks sick."
Grover sighed. "I'll be fine."
They stared out at the lake for a while longer, before Percy brought up another question. "What's the Big Three?"
Grover bleated a little. "They're the three sons of Kronos, the three powerful brothers."
"Zeus, Poseidon, Hades."
"Yeah, so after they defeated their dad, they drew lots on who got what."
"Then why doesn't Hades have a cabin?"
Grover shuddered. "Hades doesn't have a throne on Olympus either. And if he had a cabin here… Let's just say it wouldn't be pleasant."
"Then why are the other brothers' cabins empty?"
Grover shifted around. "After World War II, the Big Three agreed on the Styx-" Thunder rumbled in the clear sky. "-they wouldn't sire any more demigods. Their children were too powerful, and caused too much carnage. World War II was just Zeus and Poseidon versus Hades."
"And they kept their word?"
Grover's face darkened. "Seventeen years ago, Zeus got together with a TV starlet, and their daughter, Thalia, was born. Zeus got off easy, but the Styx brought a terrible fate on his daughter."
"That's terrible!" Mothra exclaimed.
Grover nodded. "Children of the Big Three have stronger powers, and stronger scents, which attracts monsters. Hades sent the worst monsters on Thalia, and a satyr was sent to escort her here. They nearly made it. But she was chased by an army of hellhounds, and all three Kindly Ones, and she made her final stand on the hill. Before she died, Zeus turned her into a pine tree, which helps protect the borders of the valley."
"Grover," Percy said. "Have any heroes who went to the underworld ever returned somebody from the dead?"
"No… Orpheus came close, but… Percy, you're not seriously thinking-"
"No! I… was just wondering."
Grover gave Percy a wary look.
After dinner, the conch horn sounded, and everyone stood up. Everyone cheered as Annabeth and two of her siblings ran into the pavilion carrying a silk banner, which was ten feet long and gray, with an image of a barn owl on an olive tree painted on it.
On the opposite side, Clarisse and her siblings ran in with a similar banner, but it was red and had a bloody spear and a boar's head painted on it.
Percy and Mothra looked over at Luke. "Whose side are we on?"
"We've made a temporary alliance with Athena, so we're getting the flag from Ares." Luke gained an almost evil look. "And you two are helping us."
Mothra hid behind Percy in mock fright, and Luke laughed.
The teams were announced. Athena had allied with Apollo and Hermes, while Ares had teamed up with everyone else, but they were still equal in size.
Chiron stomped his hoof on the marble tiles. "Heroes! You know the rules! The creek is the boundary line. The whole forest is fair game. All magic items are allowed. The banner must be prominently displayed, and have no more than two guards. Prisoners may be disarmed, but not bound or gagged. No killing or maiming is allowed. I shall serve as referee and battlefield medic. Arm yourselves!"
Chiron spread his arms, and the tables were covered in equipment that had appeared out of thin air.
"Percy, you're on border patrol with Mothra," Luke said. "Get your equipment from here. Everything from the armory is transported here."
Percy grinned.
A few minutes later, Percy and Mothra had picked up their weapons from before, but didn't put on armor, because one, Percy was too big to fit in the armor, and Mothra was too small, and two, they didn't really need armor. They did manage to tie blue headbands on though, seeing their entire team had blue horsehair plumes on their helmets.
"Blue team forward!" Annabeth yelled.
The team cheered and followed her into the woods, ignoring the red team's taunts. Percy and Mothra caught up to Annabeth. "Where's border patrol supposed to be at?"
"That's an easy job. Stand by the creek, and keep the enemy team away."
Percy and Mothra sat down on the ground near the creek. They heard the conch horn blowing, and shouts and the sound of fighting. They had one or two blue team kids run through, but overall, it was peaceful. For a few more minutes at least.
The underbrush exploded, and five Ares kids including Clarisse screamed their battle cries and charged at them.
"Cream the punks!" Clarisse yelled. She brandished her spear at Percy, its tip flickering with red light. The others charged with standard bronze swords.
They surrounded the sibling duo, holding them at swordpoint.
Clarisse growled. "You might have a good punch, but do you think you can handle all of us?"
Percy got up and hefted his massive zweihander over his shoulder. Mothra did the same with her glaive. "Yeah."
"Take this!" Clarisse jabbed Percy with her spear, only for nothing to happen. "Huh?"
Percy felt a slight increase in the power of his Asymmetrical Permeable Shield. Lightning, huh?
Lightning has no effect when the shield is up.
Good to know.
Percy jabbed a thumb behind him. "The flag is that way."
"We don't care about the flag," one of Clarisse's siblings said. "We care about the one who made our cabin look weak."
Percy had enough. He swung the flat of his greatsword at them, sending three of them flying through the underbrush, forming three cartoonish impact silhouettes. Mothra sent another two flying into the creek.
"Now we're talking!" Clarisse held out her spear. "Let's have a good fight, Prissy!"
Percy just grabbed her spear, tossed it away, and conked her between the eyes with a fist. Clarisse went cross eyed and fell backwards, landing with a grunt.
Just then, they heard shouts and the sound of running, and watched as Luke and a couple of Apollo kids leap over the creek, with Ares flag in hand. The blue team erupted in cheers, and Percy watched as the banner turned from a garish red into a shimmering silver, with the caduceus on it, the symbol of Cabin Eleven.
Then, Percy grabbed at something next to him and pulled up, revealing a shocked Annabeth and a baseball cap in Percy's hand.
Annabeth huffed. "How did you know I was there?"
"You were loud. I could hear you from miles away."
Annabeth crossed her arms. "Hmph. Anyway, you weren't that bad. Where'd you learn to fight like that?"
Percy tilted his head in confusion. "I didn't."
And before Annabeth could put in another word, a howl was heard throughout the forest. The cheers died down instantly. Chiron shouted for his bow, and Annabeth drew a sword. Above them, on the rocks, was a massive black hound, with sharp fangs and blood red eyes.
Annabeth was the first to react. "Percy, run!"
The hound leapt through the air, reaching out to turn Percy into mincemeat. Then Percy shocked everyone by gripping it by the neck, holding it up as if it were a piece of paper. He stared into its eyes, and growled. It reverberated through the forest, making the earth tremble. His spine flashed blue as well as his sword. "Leave."
The hound whimpered, and when Percy let go, it disappeared into a shadow, melting into the darkness.
All the campers were silent, and when a sudden light flashed, they looked above his head with a gasp.
Annabeth looked at him wide-eyed. "Um, Percy…" She pointed above his head.
Percy looked up, and watched as a spinning hologram floated above his head, in the form of a trident.
"This is really not good," Annabeth said.
"It is determined," Chiron announced grimly.
Every camper started kneeling.
"Poseidon," Chiron said. "Earthshaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses. Hail, Perseus Jackson, Son of the Sea God."
Suddenly, the hologram flickered, and slowly molded into the shape of a giant lizard, with blue spikes running down its back. Then, Mothra's head lit up too, a pure white hologram of a moth floating above her head.
Chiron gasped. "It can't be."
"No way…" Annabeth looked in shock.
"Hail, Godzilla; Hail, Mothra."
A hundred miles away, something burrowed through the ground, collapsing tunnels and trees in its way. Its red eyes gleamed in the moonlight as it headed towards its destination: Long Island Sound. Soon, it shall find its mate, and help her feast.
There we go! 3000 words! The first thing I did when I got home was write this. A New Life will be updated next. Cya!

Gojira was last seen at the Sahara, during the aftermath of his battle with Ghidorah about 2000 years before our first worshipers in Greece. The battle was what created the Sahara Desert and involved every major pantheon in the world.
Note: All gods have been around for even longer than they were worshiped. Every pantheon appeared at around the start of the universe, and we are no exception.

Chapter 6: First Quest Begins
"Reports are rolling in about multiple lightning strikes from all over New York state that exceed expectations. Purple so-called "superbolts" are dropping from the sky, and according to scientists, can carry ten billion to a trillion watts of electricity…" A news anchor droned on as another lightning bolt arced through the sky above the Empire State Building.
Above the Empire State Building was a massive cloud that was the base of a mountain peak that was the city of Olympus. Minor gods and nature spirits hid within their homes as the skies raged overhead.
In the throne room of Olympus, Zeus sat in his throne, a dark shadow covering his expression. "...This is a terrible development."
The other Olympians looked at each other.
Zeus lifted his head. "Gojira is back. And his host is Poseidon's child."
"That's impossible!" Artemis shouted. "I haven't been able to track him in all the millenia he's been gone, and now he suddenly appears?"
"Let's go for a rematch with him!" Ares yelled, fires blazing brightly in his pupils.
Dionysus grunted. "That Percy Jackson brat?"
Poseidon slammed his trident into the marble floor. "You better not be thinking about killing my son, Zeus."
"Silence!" Athena shouted. The shouting stopped. "We are not going to fight him again! Do you not remember what happened when he fought the One Who is Many?"
Zeus waved his hand, a rainbow appearing in midair. "My daughter is right. And as much as I hate to say it, he and Poseidon's brat are not the only things we should be worried about." The rainbow shimmered, turning into an Iris message, showing New Jersey. Something was crawling through the ground at a fast pace, uprooting trees and houses, tearing down roads and highways. "This is a form of kaiju that I'm sure you all have seen before." Two massive gray arms pulled the creature through the ground.
"A parasite," Athena continued for Zeus. "A MUTO. You all know what'll happen when one of these shows up."
Some of the Olympians paled. The last time that type appeared, they had nearly wiped out all life on the planet because of their rapid reproduction rate and the amount of food needed to sustain such a widespread species.
"I thought we had gotten rid of them," Demeter said. "It's going to wipe out all the crops! Think about all the grain that's not going to be harvested! All the cereal that's not going to be made!"
"All the people that's going to die!" Ares said gleefully.
Aphrodite grimaced. "How morbid."
Artemis stood up. "If we don't take it out now, the world will be devastated again. Father, allow me–"
"No." Zeus' response shocked them.
"But father! This is a MUTO! You're not going to do anything about it?"
Zeus nodded. "That's right. Because MUTOs need a powerful energy source to feed on. And the closest, most powerful energy source is Poseidon's brat–" Poseidon glared. "–and the parasite will follow him. We have no need to take care of this threat because Gojira will be able to lead it away defeat it, as he has done in the past."
"He is my son!" Poseidon roared. "You're going to let a child take care of this?"
"Silence. You will not speak like that to me, brother. Not until I get my bolt back."
Poseidon gritted his teeth.
Camp Half-Blood:
The next morning, Chiron moved Percy and Mothra to Cabin Three. They moved Mothra with Percy because they had no idea what to do with her. All their belongings came with them, including their huge weapons, both of which sat in enchanted weapon mounts designed to hold their weight.
Percy felt kind of left out, but he didn't particularly care as long as Mothra was fine.
Siscon.
Shut up.
Godzilla laughed as Percy huffed and slammed his head into his pillow. Soon after, they got up to do camp activities. Percy strapped his sword to his back and tightened the straps, making it dig into his skin. He pulled on thick insulated gloves over his sleeves, making sure his skin didn't appear through the gaps. Mothra also strapped her glaive to her back, and nearly fell over when the tip hit the top of the door frame as they left the cabin.
The day went by. Campers whispered behind their backs, steering clear whenever the pair passed by.
They are afraid of you.
I can tell, Captain Obvious.
My name isn't Captain Obvious.
I mean… ugh.
I am kidding, Little One.
During the sparring session, the entirety of Cabin Eleven was too afraid to spar with the two, Percy and Mothra sparred against each other, their blades cutting through the air at impossible speeds as they became a whirlwind of black and white.
During their Greek lessons, Annabeth scowled at them and muttered under her breath. Clarisse gave Percy the side-eye. When they got back to their cabin in the evening, they found a mortal newspaper on their doorstep.
Before Percy could read it, Mothra scooped it up and crushed it into a ball. "You don't want to read that."
Percy shrugged. "I don't give a damn about what that is. If they have beef with me, then I'll actually take them seriously when they stop hiding and being a pus–"
Mothra shushed him and pouted. "No bad words!"
Percy sighed.
The storm pounded down relentlessly as Percy took in his surroundings. He was suspended hundreds of feet in the air… no, he was hundreds of feet tall, seeing through the eyes of a behemoth, a mountain. The Burning Mountain. His eyes scanned the sky as thunder flashed erratically, unnatural golden lightning dancing in the fat, dark clouds. Something was coming…
Suddenly, a black sphere appeared in the middle of the sky, with a golden decagram floating just below it. The decagram started to spin, gaining speed with each passing second, and exploded into golden light. Streaks of light fell from the sky, shooting stars that wrought havoc and destruction across the forest. Great trees that stood for millenia fell, monstrous birds were struck out of the sky, massive blackish-purple animals disappeared within equally massive explosions.
Percy roared, the sound able to be heard from a thousand miles. The forest that had once been was now just a sea of flames. He could hear the screams and death throes of the newly deceased, the Earth itself screaming in pain and terror and dread and panic and–
Enough. His dorsal plates arced with blue lightning, his electric shield starting to glow brightly. Then he launched a massive beam at the tear in reality. The mysterious sphere trembled and shuddered under the force, but refused to break. Eventually, he stopped and looked warily at the sphere, which slowly lowered itself to the ground.
It pulsed thrice before it expanded and imploded, turning into golden particles which formed the shape of a monstrosity. First the tails formed, two of them, both spiked at the ends, similar to maces. Next were the legs, both with three massive talons each. The wings appeared, massive and reflecting a brilliant golden light even under the dark, stormy clouds. Finally, the three heads appeared, each attached to long, serpentine necks, covered in shiny golden armor with a crown of horns atop each head. Long fang-filled snouts grew from the heads, and it roared, a great screech that rivaled even the Burning Mountain's.
This was the Golden Demise. God of the Void. The Golden King.
Ghidorah.
And Percy fired the first shot, the blue beam traveling faster than the speed of sound as they started the single largest battle in all of existence.
Percy's eyes shot open, hearing the thunder roll across the hills. He groggily sat up and swung his legs off the bed to stand up. What was that?
Me. My battle with the Golden Demise. The One Who is Many.
What was that place?
That was what you humans now call the Sahara Desert. That was the result of my battle with him.
Percy blinked and scratched the back of his head. "He's dead now, right?"
No. Only slumbering. I only destroyed his physical manifestation into this world, but he still exists in the void, waiting to return.
Percy yawned. "Well, I don't think he's gonna come back anytime soon, then." He tapped Mothra on the cheek. "Wake up, sis."
The bluenette responded by turning away and pulling the blanket up to cover her face. "Five more minutes," she said sleepily.
Percy nodded. "Okay."
Just then, someone knocked on the door.
Mothra jolted awake. "I'm up!"
Percy opened the door. "What is it?"
Grover looked at him nervously. "Mr. D wants to see both of you." Mothra waved at the satyr and Grover nervously waved back.
"Why?"
"I… I think I'd better let him explain."
The two got dressed in the same way they did yesterday, carrying their weapons on their backs. Mothra remembered to duck this time, avoiding another collision with the doorframe.
The moment they stepped outside, they noticed the massive storm above them. Everyone did. All the campers eyed the storm warily as they went about their normal business. The trio walked up the front porch of the Big House, where Dionysus and Chiron played pinochle with two floating sets of cards.
"Well, well, look who it is," Mr. D said. "Our little celebrity." Percy and Mothra sat down. "If I had my way," Mr. D continued, "I would cause all of your molecules to burst into flames, or turn the both of you into bottlenose dolphins. But it seems that I can't, because you two are beyond me. But there is one more option, one that is just deadly foolishness. Chiron can explain it to you." Dionysus dropped his cards and flipped one over, turning it into a security pass. "I have a meeting to attend on Olympus, after all." And with that, Dionysus silently blipped away, only leaving the scent of grapes behind.
Chiron sighed and dropped his own card onto the table. "Tell me, Percy, what did you make of the hellhound?"
"I've seen far worse."
Chiron nodded. "Good. Then that'll have already prepared you for what you'll be undertaking next."
"What is it?"
"Your quest. Will you accept it?"
"What am I going to have to do?" Percy asked.
Chiron looked up at the dark sky. "The details are the hard part." They watched as lightning flashed in the sky, and as the waves pounded on the shore. "Zeus and Poseidon are fighting over something that was stolen during the winter solstice meeting. Zeus' lightning bolt."
Percy frowned. "But can't Zeus still use his lightning?" Lightning crackled in the background.
"Yes, but that's not the problem," Chiron said. "The problem is that Zeus' master bolt, a high-grade Celestial Bronze cylinder capped on both ends with god-level explosives, has been stolen. It was the first weapon fashioned by the Elder Cyclops against the Titans, with enough power to dwarf mortal hydrogen bombs."
"Who stole it?"
Chiron looked at him. "You. At least, that's what Zeus suspects. During an argument at the winter solstice meeting, the master bolt was stolen from right under his nose. Every half a century, the gods take time to recharge their symbols of power, and that was when the bolt was taken. Without his symbol, Zeus has been weakened, but still retains most of his power. As expected, he immediately blamed Poseidon, and claims that he is trying to forge copies of the bolt to topple him from his throne."
Percy looked at the centaur. "That's fucking stupid." Thunder boomed louder than before.
"Be careful what you say, child. The gods do not take insults lightly."
"I know that. Gojira's dealt with it before."
"Yes, Gojira…" Chiron said. "I have heard many myths and legends. He disappeared before I was even born, and now he appears before me, in the body of my student." Chiron chuckled, before his face turned serious. "We must get back on topic. Zeus demands his bolt back ten days from now, and Poseidon expects an apology on the same date, on June twenty-first."
"What will happen if it doesn't happen?"
"War," Chiron said. "Western Civilization will turn into a battleground as gods take sides. The same thing will happen to America as what had happened to the Sahara. Go, Percy Jackson. Seek the counsel of the Oracle, and bring back the master bolt."
"All right," Percy said. "As long as all this bullshit is dealt with."
"Go to the attic, Percy. When you come back down, we will talk more."
Percy walked up four flights of stairs, and pulled down a trapdoor. The door swung open, and a ladder clattered into place as dust billowed out of the ancient room. Percy sniffed the air… mildew, rotting wood, and…
Another kaiju.
He climbed up the ladder into the cluttered room. The attic was filled with Greek stuff: dusty armor, rusting shields, and green jars filled with preserved trophies from killed monsters. By the window sat an old, shriveled skeleton, with thin skin pulled tight across the bones, and stringy black hair falling down its head.
Percy did what a Percy would do: he touched it.
Suddenly, green mist poured out of its mouth like a waterfall, twisting and turning through the air, turning into a massive green creature that coiled almost protectively around the shriveled mummy. It was massive, barely fitting in the room, and it had only two long forelimbs and a prehensile, serpentine tail. Percy looked further up, and saw its head, an elongated face with a bony plate over its head
I am the spirit of Delphi, speaker of the prophecies of Phoebus Apollo, slayer of the mighty Python. Approach, my kin, and ask.
"What do I do?" Percy asked bluntly.
Always quick to the point, aren't you, Gojira? You have asked your question, and I shall answer.
The creature uncoiled itself before exploding into thicker green mist that swirled into an image of Gabe and his poker buddies.
Gabe turned to Percy and spoke. You shall go west, and face the god who has turned.
The one on the right spoke up. You shall find what was stolen, and see it safely returned.
The guy on the left spoke. You shall fight an enemy once thought dead.
And finally, Eddie delivered the last line. And you shall stop the threat, in the end.
The mist coalesced into the creature once more. I wish you luck, Gojira. After all, there are so many things to do, and so little time.
It finally retreated back into the mummy's mouth, and she reclined in her seat, sitting as she had done for nearly a hundred years.
That was… was that what I thought it was?
Indeed. That was a Skullcrawler.
Percy stared at the mummy for a long while. "I thought those were with Kong on the island?"
Perhaps it was captured by the Greek gods. No use dwelling on something that happened millenia ago.
"Right."
"Well?" Chiron asked when Percy exited the house.
Percy sat down and stroked Mothra's hair. It was soothing, comforting. "She said I would go west to face the god who has turned. I would retrieve what was stolen and see it safely returned. I would fight an enemy once thought dead. And I shall stop the threat in the end."
"I knew it," Grover said, tearing into a tin can.
"Who's this god in the west?" Percy asked.
Chiron tapped a finger to his head. "Think, Percy. Who would gain something when Poseidon and Zeus weaken each other in their war?"
"Hades?"
"Yes, you're quite clever, Percy. Yes, the Lord of the Dead is the only possibility."
Grover stopped chewing, his can nearly falling out of his mouth. "Wait, what?"
"Percy has been attacked by a Fury," Chiron said. "He sent the Minotaur after him, and the Hellhound in the camp. I don't pretend to understand a god's motives perfectly, but I believe Hades would very much like to kill Percy. Percy must go to the Underworld to reveal the truth."
Percy chomped on a pinochle card like Grover before spitting it out. "Why can't the gods just do it themselves?" he asked as Mothra lightly scolded him for eating cards.
"Gods cannot cross into each other's territories without invitation, a rule that has been in place since ancient times. Only heroes can go anywhere and challenge any god to battle," Chiron explained.
Percy wiped his mouth. "So I'm supposed to go to the Underworld and confront Hades, then find one of the gods' most powerful weapons, and get it to Olympus within ten days. Is that right?"
"Yes, that's about right."
Grover swallowed. "Maine is very nice this year?"
"You don't have to come if you don't want to," Percy said.
Grover nervously kneaded his shirt, and steeled himself. "You saved my life. I won't let you down if you want me to come."
"Okay." Percy scratched his head. "Where do we go?"
"The entrance of the Underworld is always to the west. And in America, it is, naturally, in Los Angeles."
"Naturally."
"You may have companions to accompany you west," Chiron said. "Grover is one. Another has already volunteered, if you would accept her help. And, of course, I believe you'd take Mothra with you as well?"
Percy nodded as Mothra chased around a butterfly. Then he reached forward, past Chiron, and pulled off Annabeth's Yankee cap.
Annabeth huffed, grabbing her cap back and stuffing it into her back pocket. "I've been waiting quite a while for a quest, seaweed brain. I'll keep you from messing up."
Percy shrugged nonchalantly. "Sure, why not?"
"Excellent," Chiron said. "This afternoon, we'll take you to the bus terminal in Manhattan. After that, you're on your own. Now, I'd recommend you start packing."
Omake: Monkey King
A loud rumble reverberated through the forest as Kong yawned, stretching his arms high over his head. He stood up, walking towards a lake with thunderous steps. Soon enough, he was feasting on a school of large fish, a single hand scooping up hundreds of gallons of water.
He was getting quite old. Over a thousand years had passed since his first memory, waking up as a child with light shooting from his eyes. He remembered his youth, traveling around Asia as Sun Wukong. He still had Ruyi Jingu Bang somewhere. The last object he had from the outside world before he moved to the Mu continent.
Oh well. No use dwelling on the past now. He breathed in the fresh air, the scent of the forest, dirt, and… human?
No, probably not. His senses were dulling. Maybe it was a–
"Are you a kaiju too?"
Kong and the human child stared at each other.
Why are you here?
The child sweatdropped. "I, uh, got… lost?"
This is an island. Thousands of miles away from the mainland.
"I got really lost?"
They stared at each other once more. Finally, Kong sighed. Follow me. I'll help you.
"Yay! You look really old," Percy said, pointing at Kong's beard as the kaiju picked him up. "Can you tell me a story? Please?"
And so, Kong told him about his days as Sun Wukong, days long past.
Let's go! Another chapter down… in six weeks. T_T. Oh well. I'll be updating A New Life next, then finally posting Quanta Entanglement! Cya!

I’m not dead! I’m sorry I haven't been able to post anything this whole summer until now. I was busy with work, and I got sick early this summer, blah blah blah, and a bunch of other excuses. I’ll definitely start grinding chapters during this month, and probably gonna mass release them sometime soon. The sequel to Of Heroes and Monsters will be posted soon, and all my fanfics will be starting to be updated soon. Anyway, here’s Chapter 7!
(P.S., I share my art on my twitter (twitter . com/spectre646) and youtube (youtube . com/@spectre646)! Check it out!)

Chapter 7: New Jersey Shenanigans
Percy didn’t waste much time. He packed his and Mothra’s bags, stuffing extra clothes and toothbrushes into the duffel bags provided for them. They both took their weapons with them too. Mothra tried to put her spear in her bag, but it didn’t go too well, and she ended up having half of the spear sticking out of her bag like a sore thumb.
They were given a hundred dollars in mortal money and twenty golden drachmas. Chiron also handed them a bag of ambrosia and a canteen of nectar, only to be used in emergencies.
Annabeth had brought along her magic invisibility hat, a book about architecture that was written in Ancient Greek, and a celestial bronze knife up her sleeve.
Grover packed a bag of tin cans and apples, and brought his reed pipes with him.
The quest group hiked up Half-Blood Hill, where Chiron waited for them in his wheelchair form. Argus, a huge guy with hundreds of eyes, stood next to him, wearing a chauffeur uniform. Suddenly, they heard footsteps approaching from behind them.
Luke ran up to them, out of breath, holding a pair of shoes. “Hey guys!”
Annabeth blushed as Luke came closer.
“Good luck on your quest, Percy, or should I say, Godzilla .” Luke said. “Here, take these.” Luke handed the sneakers over. Percy sniffed them. Magic.
“Maia!” Luke said. Wings unraveled from the sneakers and started flapping around, and then disappeared after a few seconds.
Grover crunched on a can. “Awesome!”
Luke smiled. “Those helped me a lot when I went on my quest. I don’t use them much now these days, so I’m giving them to you, but I doubt you’d use them that much, though..”
“Thanks.”
“Kill some monsters for me, would ya?” Luke patted Mothra and Grover on the head, and hugged Annabeth, then trudged down the hill.
Percy looked down at the sneakers. “Hey Grover, you want these?”
“Sure, I guess… why, though?”
“I’m too heavy for those to lift me,” Percy said. “Trust me.”
They spent a few minutes tying the shoes onto Grover’s hooves, and soon enough, he was being dragged along the ground towards the van, screaming. Annabeth facepalmed and followed the satyr, muttering under her breath. Mothra followed closely behind.
“Percy, please wait a moment,” Chiron said. “I wish I could have trained you longer before you left.”
Percy shrugged. “It’s okay.”
“And one more thing, Percy.” Chiron pulled a ballpoint pen out of his pocket. “Though you already have a weapon, I wish for you to keep this with you. It was a gift from your father.” Percy inspected the pen. “Uncap it.”
When Percy did, the pen grew into a celestial bronze sword a few feet long, and felt so light Percy thought he could accidentally throw it into the stratosphere.
“This sword has a long and tragic story,” Chiron said. “Its name is Anaklusmos.”
Percy looked the blade up and down. “Riptide?”
Chiron nodded. “It is a deadly weapon, forged in the heart of a volcano. It can kill any monster or Underworld creature, but it won’t harm mortals. Now, to turn it back into a pen, just touch the cap to the tip of the sword.”
Percy did just that, and it reverted back into a bronze pen. “What if I lose it?”
“You can’t,” Chiron said. “Throw the pen.”
The pen soared through the sky, disappearing in the distance.
“Now check your pocket.”
Percy reached into his pocket, and sure enough, it was there. “Nice.”
“It is a very special weapon, capable of growing alongside its wielder. Whatever you need, it shall do. Follow your destiny, Perseus,” Chiron said. “I wish you well.”
Percy walked down the hill towards the van, and when he looked back at the bottom of the hill, Chiron was gone. The only thing on the hill was the pine tree, its branches swaying in the wind.
Argus drove them through Long Island, and slowed down in Queens, before arriving in Manhattan by evening. The hundred eyed man dropped them off at a Greyhound station in the Upper East Side, unloaded their bags, and handed them the bus tickets driving away, the van disappearing around a corner.
Percy looked around, staring down the street that led back to his apartment. Mothra looked up at him and squeezed his hand reassuringly.
We’ll find your mom soon, Mothra said.
“We’ll find her soon, Percy,” Grover said.
Percy would’ve done a spit take if he had a drink. “You can read minds?”
Grover shook his head. “Just your emotions. I forgot to tell you that satyrs could do that. Do you want to know why your mom married Gabe?”
Percy shrugged, and nodded. “Sure.”
“She married Gabe to keep you safe, Percy. Gabe smells so bad I can smell him from here. You still have traces of him on you, and you’ve been away from him for a week. He’s been covering your demigod scent for years, Percy.”
“But she… didn’t need to. I could’ve taken care of monsters,” Percy said.
“She didn’t know, Percy. She wanted the best for you. And you’ll see her again,” Grover reassured him. “I know it.”
Percy didn’t give a shit about saving the world. He just cared about getting back the person who had taken care of him his whole life from Hades. But he would finish the job because if his mother found out he didn’t, she would be disappointed in him.
We’ll find her and beat the shit out of Hades, Godzilla said.
…Thanks.
Grover, Annabeth, and Mothra decided to play Hacky Sack with an apple while waiting for the bus to come. Percy opted out since he was too clumsy for it. Annabeth was able to bounce it with nearly every part of her body, and Mothra bounced it off her spear to compensate for her height.
The game suddenly ended when Grover accidentally swallowed the entire apple when it got close to his mouth. Everyone cracked up as Grover’s face turned red from embarrassment. Even Percy cracked a smile.
Soon enough, the bus arrived at the station, and they all climbed aboard, and Grover started sniffing the air. Percy did the same.
Monsters. About three of them, Godzilla said. Keep your guard up, Little One.
I think they’re about to board the bus. Mothra relaxed into the seat. But they’re not too dangerous.
“Monsters,” Percy whispered to Annabeth and Grover. Grover paled, and Annabeth clenched her teeth.
Grover shook slightly. “I knew it.”
“Look.” Annabeth pointed at the front of the bus.
A very familiar face had boarded the bus, as well as two people with the same face. The Furies. They sat right behind the driver, and crossed their legs across the aisle, preventing anyone from leaving.
The bus started to move, exiting the station as rain pounded down on the roof of the bus.
“All three of them,” Grover whimpered.
Annabeth tapped her Yankees cap nervously. “It’s just the Furies. Some of the worst monsters from the Underworld. No worries.”
“Yeah,” Percy said. “It’s okay.” He breathed in and out. “Just keep your hands on me. But don’t touch my skin.”
They all gripped onto his jacket, and Percy expanded his Asymmetrically Permeable Shield to cover the four of them, ensuring their safety. The demigods shuddered slightly as the shield covered them.
“What was that?” Annabeth whispered.
“Insurance,” Percy replied
As soon as the bus entered the Lincoln Tunnel, the Furies suddenly stood up. “I need to use the restroom,” the three of them announced, and they started walking towards the demigods.
Mothra, go, Percy said. You’re the only one who can go unnoticed.
Mothra nodded, and with a twirl, morphed into a small glowing butterfly, and fluttered under the seats to the front of the bus.
As soon as the Furies reached the trio, they shriveled up and grew claws, their bags turning into fiery whips as they snarled at the demigods.
“Where is it? Where?” the Furies hissed, giving no heed to the screaming onlookers.
“Not here,” Percy said, bitch slapping one of the demon grandmothers through the roof of the bus.
Golden dust fluttered down from the hole in the bus, and was scattered when the bus suddenly sped up, careening out of the end of the tunnel and through an exit. The passengers were flung around the bus as it sped through the streets and onto a dark, empty road.
The bus then spun around and crashed into a tree, and the doors were flung open as soon as it stopped moving. The passengers fled the bus while the Furies recovered.
Good job, Mothra, Percy thought.
The Furies eventually regained their balance and lashed their whips at Percy, but the whips were repelled by an invisible force, and hit their owners instead.
“Ow!” The Furies glared at the group of demigods. “Hades will have your soul! You will forever rot in the Fields of Punishment!”
Percy smashed the window open. “I think I’ll consider it later, fucking glorified bats.” He slammed one of the Furies into the ground. “I liked you better as a math teacher,” Percy told Mrs. Dodds, who was now a pile of dust.
Thunder shook the bus, and the demigods scrambled out of the window, Mothra dashing out of the door.
“Our bags!” Grover said.
“I got them,” Percy said, raising an empty hand. “Or maybe not.”
A massive lightning bolt shredded through the bus, turning it into a crater filled with molten slag. The last remaining Fury screeched as it was electrocuted, but more from anger than from pain.
“She’s calling for reinforcements!” Annabeth said.
Grover ran. “Run!”
The demigods and kaiju followed him without complaint.
Grover and Annabeth stumbled their way through the forest, dragging Percy and Mothra as fast as they could, heading away from the Hudson.
“No food, money, or clothes. Great. Just great,” Annabeth sighed.
“My tin cans,” Grover bleated sadly. “A perfectly good bag of tin cans.”
They trudged through the woods silently for another mile or so until Percy picked up the scent of food. His stomach growled, shaking the ground slightly. “I smell food.” Percy perched Mothra on his shoulder and marched forward as Mothra glowed, lighting up the way. “Follow me.”
Grover sighed. “And I was just about to play a ‘find path’ song!”
They kept walking forward until they reached a deserted road. A warehouse was on the other side of the road, surrounded by neon lights and the smell of fast food. There was a neon sign above the gate of the building, but it was impossible for Annabeth or Percy to read, since they were both dyslexic.
“What does it say?” Percy asked.
“I don’t know,” Annabeth said.
“Aunty Em’s Garden Gnome Emporium,” Grover and Mothra answered in sync.
Percy noticed two ugly gnome statues flanking either side of the gate.
Ugly ass runts. They’re tricky little things, and they smell horrible, Godzilla said.
Language! Mothra reprimanded Godzilla.
This place smells weird.
There’s a monster inside.
Annabeth looked past the gate. “The lights are on. Maybe it’s open.”
“Food,” Percy said.
“Food,” Annabeth agreed.
“Food,” Mothra added.
“Guys!” Grover said. “Are you crazy? This place smells fishy.”
Everyone ignored him. They entered the lot and headed down a short path that was flanked by dozens of stone statues of animals, people, and a satyr that creeped out Grover.
Grover bleated nervously. “That statue looks like Uncle Ferdinand!”
They soon stepped up to the warehouse doors.
“Don’t knock,” Grover begged. “I smell monsters inside.”
Percy knocked on the door. “I know. I smell it too. But first…”
“Burgers,” Annabeth finished.
“I’m a vegetarian!” Grover said.
Just then, the door creaked open, and a tall woman stepped out. She was covered head to toe in a long robe, and her face was completely veiled, leaving only her tanned hands revealed.
She looked at them curiously. “It is too late for you children to be out all alone,” she said. “Where are your parents?”
“Ah…” Annabeth struggled to get a suitable backstory out.
“Our bus crashed,” Mothra said. “We’re tourists, but our bus driver sped out of control and crashed a few hours ago. We’re trying to get to the nearest city, but we got lost, and ended up here.”
“Oh, my dears, you must be hungry after that ordeal,” the woman said. “I am Aunty Em. Please, come in, come in. There is a dining area in the back.”
They stepped into the warehouse, and headed to the back. The entire place was filled with life-sized statues, each one completely different from the other. The statues’ eyes followed their movement, and a barely audible click was heard as Aunty Em locked the door behind them. The four of them sat down at one of the steel picnic tables.
“Um, we don’t have money, ma’am,” Grover said nervously.
Aunty Em waved it away. “No, no, my dears. It is my treat, for such nice children.”
“Thank you,” Annabeth said.
Percy noticed the way Aunty Em stiffened for a moment, before relaxing. “It is quite all right, Annabeth.”
Percy’s eyes narrowed.
Soon enough, all of them except for Grover were stuffing their faces with food. Grover picked at the fries and the wax paper nervously.
Percy heard a hissing sound, and so did Grover, seeing the satyr slightly flinch. As they ate, Aunty Em sat in front of them, sitting forward as she watched the four of them eat.
“You sell gnomes, right?” Percy asked.
Aunty Em nodded. “Yes, my dear. I sell statues of animals and people too. It’s very popular.”
“You must make a killing, huh?”
Aunty Em stiffened. “Not so much anymore. Not many go this way now.”
Percy looked at a statue, which was stuck with a terrified expression on its face. “What happened to that one?”
“The face is always the hardest to get right. They do not turn well. I used to have two sisters who would help me with these statues, but they have passed on.”
“Two sisters, huh?” Percy asked. Annabeth sat forward. “Would you three be called… the Gorgons?”
Aunty Em hissed behind her veil. “Whatever are you talking about?”
Percy stood up. “There’s no need to hide it. Isn’t it obvious? Hissing. Hiding behind that veil. All the statues with those terrified faces. You’re–”
“–Medusa,” Annabeth cut in. “Aunty M . Of course!”
Medusa shot out of her seat. “You have found me out? Well then, there’s no more need to keep this cursed veil on me now!”
“Look away!” Annabeth shouted, turning herself invisible as Grover scrambled away.
There is no need for us to look away, Little One, Godzilla said. The shield protects us.
When Medusa lifted her veil, Percy stared straight into Medusa’s eyes. The monster’s eyes widened. “How? How can you survive looking into my eyes? A-are you a god?”
Percy scratched his chin. “You could say that.” He snapped his fingers. “Mothra!”
“Wha–” Medusa suddenly choked on her own words as a white streak appeared through her neck.
The monster disintegrated into golden dust, and her head detached from the rest of the body, rolling to a stop next to Percy’s foot. A spoil of war.
He looked down at the head of Medusa. “At least you made good burgers.” Then he stomped it flat, turning it into a gorey, green pancake. “It’s safe now.”
Annabeth reappeared and Grover came out of his hiding spot. Annabeth turned green at the sight of crushed brains oozing out of the remains of the head. “We’re… we’re gonna need a new plan.”
