Memories, secrets and feelings

Summary:

Zane's potions were never that dangerous, even if someone got hit (Aphmau), they came back unharmed. But when Zane finds a cursed potion called MemoryLoad in one of his potion books, he tries it so he can impress KC. But then all of them get hit and go through everyone's memories, and secrets are discovered.

Chapter 1: Making the potion

Notes:

This is short- like, very short.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Zane dusted off the books in the library- today he really just wanted to make potions, because everyone had been annoying, even Aphmau. Maybe he could even make a potion that would shut them up?

Suddenly, he cut his finger on a book cover, and he quickly picked it up, examining it. It was a very old potions book, it was dark brown from dust, and the pages were light gray, the corners were also sharp.

Quickly he decided to scan through the book, though the recipes were ones he had already done.

”God...” he muttered, moody. ”Boring, stupid, no, too easy...”

Suddenly, he found something called MemoryLoad, and the recipe seemed challenging and fun.

You drink it and then you relive your memories- the details are good and it feels like a movie + you can choose which memories you want to relive.

It was perfect, he even had all the ingredients.

He got the things he needed, pouring the chemical liquid in the tube, then quickly but carefully continuing with the rest. (A/N; I'm too lazy to write the process- I suck at chemistry.)

And when he was finished, he cheered for a second, then stepped out with the potion to show the others.

With no idea that doing this would change everything.

Notes:

I told you it was short.

Chapter 2: ”This wasn't supposed to happen!”

Chapter Text

Happily, which was quite unlike him, he ran to the rest, ready to show off.

When he got there, Aphmau was arguing with Ein- everyone except for Pierce being on Aph's side.

”Guys! Guys!” he called, making their attention go to him. ”Look at my potion!”

Then, the worst thing, just when he was close enough to everyone, he tripped over a dumb rock, making the potion fall, its content getting all over them.

Suddenly, their consciousness slipped from them.

As Ein opened his eyes, he was met with a light blue and purple environment, surrounded with other hazy bright colors, also feeling a drowsy hand on his waist, holding him close.

He grunted, ”What..?”, as he wriggled in his half-asleep state.

He sleepily rubbed his eyes as he saw the others also wriggle.

Where were they?

”Where-” he could recognize it as Pierce's voice. ”Where are we?”

He got his comedic voice on, ”Question nr. 1 right now.”

The hand brushed his waist, holding him tighter and he took that hand with his.

”Yeah,” a quiet chuckle was heard. ”You're right, Ein- Ein?”, then he was confused at why his best friend was there, around his ear.

God, was that person holding him Pierce? Why?

”Pierce-?” he groaned, stretching. God, his back hurt. ”Why are you holding me?”

Immediately, Pierce stiffened and let go, now sitting up. ”Don't know. Must have done it in my sleep. Speaking of that; Why were we sleeping and how did we get here?”

Then, Zane sat up in a hurry, panicked. ”My potion!”

Oh right, Zane had a potion to show and then he tripped. Then their consciousness had slipped from them quickly. But what kind of potion did he have?

He sat up next to Pierce, rubbing his eye again.

”What kind of potion was it?” asked Aphmau, sitting up next to KC.

Then Zane looked down, embarrassed or disappointed with himself, mumbling it; ”A memory-review potion...”

”A what?” Ein raised his eyebrow, confused. ”What's that?”

They weren't as good with potions, how were they supposed to know what that was?

”It goes through your memories, if thrown on more people it goes through plenty of those people,” Zane watched as their eyes widened in fear. ”Often the more traumatizing and early memories.”

Ein gripped Pierce's hand as he thought about his childhood. And if he was thinking about that, it was bad. They couldn't see him when he screamed as his father made him swallow that liquid that just burned- or when he begged his father to stop making his already broken arm worse- or when he sobbed onto his confused and half-asleep sister at a bloody backseat of a car. They just couldn't.

Pierce was scared too. It's not like he wanted them to see him crying in a bathroom stall as he was yelled at- it's not like he wanted them to see him running after a moving car while screaming and crying- it's not like he wanted anyone to see him swallowing plenty of pills at once and passing out. They couldn't see that, nobody could.

Aphmau would never admit it but she was afraid. She didn't want anyone to see her crying as she covered her ears while they argued- she didn't want anyone to see her cutting her hair short because everyone at school kept pulling it- and she especially didn't want them to see her sobbing as one of the athletes burned her hand. She would never go camping again and she didn't want them to know that reason.

KC was cursing at her emo friend as she remembered the memories. It's not like she was embarrassed for when she sobbed in her sister's arms after a rather harsh scolding- it's not like she was embarrassed for dying her hair and changing her name to just escape it all- it's not like she was embarrassed for getting beat up because of shredding her brother's report papers. But they just couldn't know. Curse that damn potion.

Zane regretted his decision and blamed it all on the damn rock. Because if anyone asked if he would want them to know that he silently cried in front of his locker with insults written all over every day for years then he would say no- the answer would be no if someone asked if he would want them to see him when a rock filled with snow hit his eye directly- the answer would be no if someone asked if he would want them to see him crying in his mother's arms as his eye burned. The answer would always be no.

Kim wouldn't even read this in a book. She wouldn't want to read her screaming for her grandma as she was carried away from her burning town- she wouldn't want to read her hearing her mother and baby brother screaming in agony as they burned because they fell down in the fire- she wouldn't want to read her screaming as she lost her only family member left leaving her to sob in a random kid's arms. A character losing her whole family would be way too relatable for her.

Noi wished he was a sheep right now. Or anything, really. It's not like animals had to witness their father trying to commit suicide- it's not like animals had to drag their father away from a fire because they wanted to die again- it's not like animals had to get their father therapy because they just kept trying to commit suicide. And he was glad they didn't.

Mac wished she could just be a plant and grow over again. Maybe if she was a plant she wouldn't have to hold her baby sister while running away from a fire- maybe if she was a plant she wouldn't have to collect money just to support her too young sister and her mother with one leg and a permanent head injury- maybe if she was a plant she wouldn't have to read people making fun of her and her family on this dumb website. And if she was a plant, she hoped no one would watch her.

Aaron wished he could join the wolves. Wolves didn't have to scream over his father in a heated argument just because he didn't want to take over the business- wolves didn't pass out in their bedroom because of overworking only to be found by their then very worried sister- wolves didn't get kicked out because they fell in love with a simple cute girl who made them so unbelievably happy. If only he was a wolf so he wouldn't have had to.

”Zane!” Kim screamed as he felt a bruise forming on his face. ”Run more carefully next time! You know, next time, just don't make a potion like that!”

She was about to hit him more when Noi held her back. ”Kim, don't fight, please.”

Maybe tears were forming but they wouldn't know that as she leaned completely on Noi.

”I know, I know, alright?!” Zane covered his face with his hair. ”This wasn't supposed to happen!”

Chapter 4: Rewriting

Chapter Text

Alright so; I know I haven't published on here in a while, which I do apologize for, I've just been having trouble writing what could happen. So I've been thinking about it and I've decided I'm going to rewrite this? When, I don't know, but my first chapters don't fit my writing style anymore and I just need to rewrite it all. And I may also change the title of this story. I've been thinking of deleting this story, preparing to rewrite it, and some time it'll be published again. I may write other stuff, like stuff from other fandoms, but don't worry I'll publish this again one day. Okay, sorry- bye.
