Work Text:
. Yume hurried from class back towards Diasomnia. The cold snow cut through her coat and she prayed she’d get back before too long, class had gone on a bit extra due to a few students picking a fight. She had avoided getting involved but it had delayed everything. “Haaaa!” She emerged at the dorm entrance and let out a breath, letting the warmer yet still chilly Diasomnia air surround her. But she was now out of the snow and had the whole weekend ahead of her. The weather said it was going to snow all weekend so staying in was going to be the thing to do. The school day hadn’t been rough but she did find herself wanting to relax with a book by the fireplace. It would be warm and cozy there. Aside from a bit of homework she hadn’t gotten to yet, the weekend was free for the taking and she intended to enjoy all of it. She brushed herself off and made her way over to the fireplace. The couches were comfortable. The evening was chilly and she soon found herself absorbed in one of her schoolbooks, unaware of her surroundings.
…
Lilia spotted the girl returning to the dorm, how could he not? He was simply out for a stroll in the freshly falling snow before watching her vanish into the dorm. There was a certain comforting aura that girl exuded and he knew it had been a hard week. Heck, he knew it had been a hard day. Sebek had already returned earlier bemoaning a few other freshmen in his class causing trouble, including the one she was in. Lilia was nothing if not observant in that and he headed into the kitchen to make something for Yume to drink.
…
The unique aroma from the mug woke Yume out of her slumber from where she had fallen asleep on the chair by the fireplace. It was set on a table in front of her, and when she looked around to see who it might have been, she noticed Lilia, doing some reading of his own from across the way. He noticed she had woken up and beamed smiles at her. “Ah! I’m so sorry… I know I shouldn’t pass out here…”
“Don’t worry about it Yume. You must have been exhausted today and in need of the extra sleep,” he replied.
“How long was I out?” she asked sheepishly.
“About an hour, not too long,” he said.
“Is this…for me?” The mug was a bit cold to the touch and she grimaced. Something he had made that was likely warm.
“It was, but it seems cold now,” Lilia said, standing to grab the cup before she could really take it. A little bit of concentration on Lilia’s part and the mug was steaming again. The unique aroma returning to Yume’s nose, it apparently was Lilia’s attempt at hot chocolate? She held the cup in her hands and smiled. “There, it should be nice and warm now shouldn’t it? Go on, I added a few things to make it just the best!”
“Thank you,” she replied taking a careful sip. There was…orange and lemon and …salt? There was a chocolate aftertaste. This had to be one of the safest things Lilia made as of late. Since it wouldn’t get her …that… sick she took another sip. It was a weird kind of refreshing. Lilia smiled at her while she sipped at it.
“So how was the week?” Lilia asked.
“Overall, it was kinda hard,” Yume said. “There was a lot more trouble in class this week than I thought there would be. I had wanted to finish up my homework before the weekend but…” She let out a bit of a frustrated sigh.
“Ah, falling asleep ruined your plans,” Lilia said. “At least you weren’t like Silver last time he fell asleep here. He nearly burned all his schoolwork.” She chuckled at the thought.
“Well, thank you, you didn’t have to wait for me to wake up though,” She said. “I know you’re really busy.”
“As you pointed out, it is the weekend. What’s a weekend for if not some relaxing?” Lilia asked. He walked over to her in her seat and patted her head a few times. Her eyes went wide and a little teary eyed but she accepted the comforting feeling it gave her. “Now, how about you finish up that homework and perhaps we can put on one of those horror movies you enjoy to start the weekend off right?”
“I would…that would be, that would be really nice if you wanted to,” Yume said.
“I’m always curious what the kids these days are watching,” Lilia said. “Go on now, drink up and get that homework done.”
…
The horror movie chosen and put onto the small Diasomnia TV. It was a quiet night with only the sounds of screaming coming from the screen. The snow outside blowing cold winter air but these moments she got to enjoy with Lilia, these beautiful little mementos of a memory she would etch into her heart, grateful he let her share them with her.
