Chapter Text
When the three men stepped back outside, they let loose a laugh as they watched Mav get harassed by baby pilots. Ice had avoided them by going inside to change and spy on and then lecture his sons, leaving Mav to the wolves.
“Sir!” they all shouted simultaneously, snapping to attention when they noticed Ice.
“At ease. You're all at my house as friends, you don’t have to call me sir. Ice will do,” Ice dictated, and they only relaxed half a fraction.
“Told you my husband was sexy,” Mav chirped, wiggling his eyebrows. Jake and Rooster made gagging noises. But it snapped the pilots back to normal as they all started talking at once.
“I was right!” Phoenix shouted, high fiving Fanboy who’d agreed.
“And we thought he bagged Mav! Mav bagged the compacflt!” Fanboy shouted back.
“Hey! He was a Lt. when we got together, thank you very much. And I am an Ace remember,” Mav entered the chaos, no way was he letting anyone think he was any less than the trophy husband he was.
“Ow!” Jake yelped when Javy’s fist collided with his arm.
“I can’t believe you didn’t tell me who your family was! You’re like Navy Royalty,” Javy shouted at him, proceeding to nail his arm a couple more times, making Jake laugh.
“How did we miss this?” Bob asked, looking from Jake to Ice “You look just like him.”
“He might look like Ice. But he’s Mav Jr. through and through,” Slider responded, throwing his arm around Jake’s shoulder.
“Uncle Sli,” Jake groaned at the use of his nickname in front of the pilots.
“Aw so cute, Mav Jr.” Phoenix cooed at him before pinching his cheek.”
“Aw, little Jakey, trying to be just like his Daddy when he grows up,” Payback cooed beside her. Which caused the other pilots to coo at him too.
“I hate you all!” Jake shouted, trying to untangle himself from under Slider’s arm. But surprisingly for a man pushing 60 he was strong.
“You should see the picture of Jake when he dressed as Mav for halloween,” Rooster offered, never missing a chance to embarrass his brother.
Jake found himself more relaxed than he’d been in a long time. The weight of his worries finally lifted. He was surrounded by family and friends who cared about him.

Later that night, all the baby pilots crashed in the living room on the giant fort of blankets and pillows.
“Alright, Ice and I are going to bed,” Mav announced, giving them each a kiss on the forehead before following his husband upstairs. They settled down in the blankets as the lights flicked off. It wasn’t silent for long though.
“You have the coolest, most chaotic family,” Payback’s voice filled the silence.
“We know,” Rooster and Jake together clearly pleased by this statement. And they found themselves telling their friends about their lives growing up with Mav and Ice.
“So, what happened to Ice’s 65 Mustang?” Fanboy inquired, causing Rooster to chuckle softly at Jake’s groan.
“When Jake was 18, Dad and Da were both on vacation for two weeks, and I was stationed in Lemoore. The mustang was in the Hangar in the desert for safe keeping. Officially? A sandstorm blew one of the hangar doors off onto the mustang crushing and totalling it. Unofficially? Jake threw a rager there and one of his idiot friends crashed his vehicle into the door which caused it to fall on the mustang. He called me piss drunk, crying at 3 am,” Bradley explained, making everyone in the room gasp.
“Dude. Someone could have died,” Payback whispered.
“I know, Rooster read me the riot act. I begged him not to tell the Dads,” Jake replied with a sigh.
“How did you get away with it?” Fanboy followed.
“I got lucky that there had been a sandstorm the day before. And I just happened to be ‘going out to the hangar’ the next day,” Jake answered.
“That’s insane.”
“The Dads would have murdered him if they found out,” Rooster supplied and it was followed by a long silence. Before the two brothers souls left their bodies.
“Jacob and Bradley Mitchell-Kazansky. Get your asses in my study now!" the order was barely contained fury.
“Fuck.” Came the whispered collective of the baby pilots.
“We are so dead," Bradley whispered to his brother.
"Maybe we have time to run-" Jake began.
"And don't even think about running!" Mav shouted.
Well that answered that.
