Chapter 1: Day 1: First Meeting

Chapter Text

Verosika sighed as she unpacked the last of her stuff. She hadn’t wanted to come here but her friends had told her it was for the best.

She didn’t want to admit that she was at her lowest point, but it was hard not to admit that now she was sitting alone in a room in a shitty rehab centre.

One of the hardest parts about all of this was the fact that everyone knew. She couldn’t keep something like this private. From the moment her car had turned into the rehab centre, the paparazzi was everywhere.

Tomorrow she would be on the front pages. Everyone knew what a mess she was and there was nothing she could do about it.

For this reason she had tried to get a private room, only to find out that this particular centre didn’t have any. Hopefully whoever she was sharing a room with wasn’t a complete ass.

Her thoughts were interrupted by her new roommate coming in.

She was an imp with curled horns and scars all over her body. The scars looked more self-inflicted than accidents. Whether it was cosmetic or not would be rude to ask.

The imp nodded in her direction then sat down on the bed across from her, she pulled out a deck of cards and started playing solitaire.

Verosika stared at her as she played. She was very pretty and it honestly flustered Verosika a bit.

“What are you looking at?” The imp scoffed, not looking up from her game.

Verosika blushed and looked away and apologized quickly.

The imp laughed, “Don’t worry, you're fine.” She reassured her. “So, Verosika is it? I didn’t believe the rumours that you had checked in here, but here you are.”

“There were rumours about me?” Verosika asked, kind of shocked.

“Yeah, I mean, you’re famous. Of course there were, always is. There were some rumours about me my first time in rehab, but it sort of dies down once you get washed up.” She shrugged.

“...Oh” Verosika looked down, she would probably be like that sometime down the line.

The imp looked up from her card game and must have seen the look on Verosika’s face. “I don’t think you’ll get washed up though. You are more famous than I ever was, besides, you’re too pretty.” She said matter of factly.

Verosika blushed at this.

“Oh, I’m Barbie by the way, if you make a joke about that plastic doll I will shank you.”

Barbie went back to her solitaire game and was quiet until she finished.

“Do you want to play speed?” She asked, looking over at Verosika. “Solitaire is only fun so many times, I’m kinda sick of it.”

Verosika sighed. “No thanks, I’m not really in the mood for card games.”

Barbie put down the deck of cards and turned around so that she was fully facing Verosika.

“Are you doing okay?” She asked. “Like obviously you aren’t doing okay if you are here, but like, do you need something to get your mind off it.”

Verosika wiped a few tears from her eyes. “Not really, to either of those.” She responded.

“You don’t want to talk about it do you?” Barbie asked. “Cause I am not good with talking or feelings.”

“No no, don’t worry.” Verosika shook her head. “I just can’t believe I fell so low I had to come here.”

Barbie sighed. “Well at least you’re getting help, that’s a start I guess.”

“I guess.” Verosika shrugged. “It’s just, I didn't really have a choice and I wish everyone didn’t know.” She explained

Barbie looked at Verosika for a moment. “Do you want me to French braid your hair?” She asked.

“What?” Verosika asked.

“I don’t know, I braided kids hair when they felt sad at the circus, I thought it might work here”

Verosika stared back at Barbie for a bit, fiddling with the ends of her hair. “Um… I guess, I don’t really have people do my hair unless it's for a show.”

“Okay, can you sit on the floor though? Like you’re tall.” Barbie asked. “Also, I need to use your hair brush and hair bands.” Barbie gestured to her head. “Y’know, no hair.”

Verosika nodded and got out her hair brush and hair bands, handing them to Barbie before sitting down on the floor in front of Barbie's bed.

Barbie smiled and started brushing Verosika’s hair gently. “Your hair is pretty.” She told her, moving her hair off her shoulders.

Once all of Verosika’s hair was off her shoulders she felt Barbie stop playing with her hair.

The feeling was familiar, the feeling of someone's eyes on you. “What are you looking at?” She quipped.

Barbie paused. “Who’s Blitz?” she asked.

Verosika was confused for a moment. How would Barbie know about Blitz? Then she remembered her stupid tattoo.

She sighed. “Just my shitty ex.” she said “I thought we had something but he had his head too far up his ass to understand feelings. He ended up stealing my shit and leaving in the dead of night without saying goodbye.”

Barbie scoffed. “Sounds like my brother, they have a similar name as well.” She said, “Anyway, screw him. He probably didn’t deserve someone as pretty as you anyway.”

Verosika blushed and Barbie went back to brushing her hair.

“You have really soft hair.” Barbie murmured. “Is it naturally this colour?”

“No, I dye it to look better with my skin tone.” Verosika explained.

Barbie nodded without saying anything, beginning to part Verosika's hair.

They sat in silence as Barbie started the actual braid.

Verosika didn’t remember the last time someone had done her hair so gently.

Usually before shows and shoots there was always a rush to get things done. She needed to be ready really quickly and her comfort was sacrificed for that.

Barbie hummed as she braided, carefully braiding around Verosika’s horns.

Verosika, recognising the tune began to hum along, slightly softer than Barbie.

Once Barbie was finished Verosika's hair she slipped off her bed to sit next to her.

Verosika looked at her. “So are you going to show me the ropes of this place or will I be left in the dark?” She asked. Her voice sounded rough, but there was a pleading look in her eyes.

Barbie sighed. “Well this place is a shithole, but it isn’t as scary as it looks. I’d tell you the names of the staff you can and can’t trust but if you are anything like me you will forget them immediately so I’ll just tell you as we see them”

Verosika laughed. “Yeah probably, is there anything else I should know?”

Barbie thought for a moment. “I don’t know. The food is alright here, except on weekends.” She said, “Most staff don’t actually check whether we ate or not. If that is good or bad depends on the day.”

Verosika looked at Barbie with a ‘so you too' face.

The implied topic made her slightly uncomfortable, but not uncomfortable enough to mention it.

Luckily Barbie noticed and stopped talking about it.

They sat in silence again as Barbie finished braiding.

Barbie was pretty quick, but still neat. In all honesty when she was finished, Verosika actually did feel a little better.

Verosika slightly shifted away from Barbie before standing up.

“Thanks.” She said, running her hands over her braids.

Barbie smiled, “No problem.” she said.

Verosika went to her own bed. Both girls went back to doing their own thing.

Barbie looked over at Verosika after about 10 minutes. It took Verosika a moment to know she was being watched.

“What?” She asked, in a somewhat defensive tone.

Barbie sighed. “I just wanted to warn you. A lot of people here will be out to get you.” She said, “Like telling staff when you do the smallest thing wrong, stealing your shit and trying to get you to relapse.”

Verosika stared at the floor. “Um…okay. Thanks for telling me I guess.”

Barbie didn’t stop looking at her. “I wanted to say. We can sorta be… friends if you want? Like you don’t really make real friends here, but I won’t mess with you, you won’t mess with me. Like a sort of alliance I guess?”

Verosika looked up. “Um yeah… I’d like that. Thanks.”

Chapter Text

Barbie lay on her side looking at Verosika, trying to ignore the discomfort made due to her horns.

Verosika looked back at her and chuckled lightly. “What are you looking at?” She asked.

“You.” Barbie replied smiling.

Verosika blushed and rolled onto her back, not so Barbie couldn’t see her but so they weren’t looking directly at each other.

It had been around two weeks since Verosika had come to the rehab facility. She was doing a 60 day program.

Barbie was a month into her 60 day program. She had a feeling she would stay longer, or have to come back soon after she left.

She was used to roommates coming and going, getting ‘better’ quicker than her and before her.

Something about Verosika was different to other roommates she had had. She wasn’t quite sure what it was yet though.

There was a small chance that she might be… maybe starting to catch feelings for her new roommate.

Of course she tried to ignore these feelings. It wasn’t a good idea to get close to someone you meet in a place like this, it had always ended badly for Barbie.

Anyways, Verosika was a succubus, the feelings probably weren’t even real. Even if they were Verosika would never like someone like her.

Barbie tried not to think of this. She knew Verosika would never like her back, and frankly she didn’t really think she was ready for a relationship.

She sat up. “Do you want to sneak out?” She asked, as an attempt to try to change her thoughts, also because it was something she’d been thinking of for a while.

“What?!” Verosika exclaimed, sitting up to face Barbie.

“Not like for good, just for tonight. I did it at a different facility all the time, it should be easy at this one.” Barbie explained.

Verosika thought for a moment. “Okay, but how do we do it? Like we don’t have our phones or money.”

“Well the lockers they keep our stuff in have keys not codes, they should be easy to pick with bobby pins. If you are capable of doing that I can make a distraction so nobody is in the room with the lockers.”

Barbie kept thinking. “Don’t worry about the door to the room being locked. They never lock it because all the lockers are locked anyway, and they have our names on them so you will know which ones which.” She assured Verosika.

Verosika considered the idea. “But how will we get in and out?” She asked.

“Our window is broken, it opens wider than it should. We should take advantage of it before they fix it.” Barbie explained.

Verosika stood up. “Okay, so are you going to distract the staff or what?” She asked.

Barbie stood up and headed to the door. “Yeah, come into the common area with me so you know the staff are distracted then after you grab our stuff we meet back here.” She said, opening the door.

Verosika nodded and followed Barbie out of their room.

Verosika sat on a couch in the common room while Barbie went up to the one of the staff members supervising.

Barbie herself didn’t know exactly what she was saying, she didn’t really plan this bit very well.

She knew she couldn’t ask for anything from any storerooms because that would send staff to where Verosika needed to go. What she needed to do was keep the staff in one place.

Luckily for her she had chosen a time where there weren’t as many staff on duty, so her job would be easier.

Once she realised whatever bullshit she was spieling wasn’t working, she resulted to whatever she used to do to make distractions.

It was more dramatic than she usually was in this place, but this would be safer than pulling a scene that could escalate quickly.

There was probably no way this would work, but it was worth a shot.

Barbie shot a look at Verosika before bending over backwards and doing a walkover.

She heard a stifled laugh from Verosika, but somehow it worked and now all attention was on her and Verosika was able to slip away into the storeroom.

After putting on a mini show for everyone in the common room, Barbie ran back to her and Verosika's room, hoping her plan had worked.

The pink demon was sitting on her bed waiting patiently. When Barbie walked in he laughed a bit.

“Show off.” She teased.

Barbie scoffed. “Says you. Did you get our stuff?”

Verosika nodded. “Yeah, so are we sneaking out of here or what?” She asked, handing Barbie her phone and wallet.

“Thanks.” Barbie said, taking her stuff and walking towards the window and opening it.

Verosika followed behind her. Luckily for them they were on the ground floor so it would be easy to get out.

“I haven’t done this shit since I was a teenager.” Verosika stated, looking down.

Barbie laughed. “I didn’t really have to sneak out as a teenager. My only friends were my brother and this other kid, and they were in the circus.”

“I forgot you were a circus imp.” Verosika said.

“I wish I could forget.” Barbie replied, sort of harshly. She then climbed out of the window, “So are you coming or what?” She asked, reaching up a hand.

Verosika tucked her wings in and took Barbie’s hand, climbing out the window.

Once Verosika was safely out the window Barbie looked at her.

“You got everything?” She asked.

Verosika nodded.

“Okay, now we run before anyone catches us.” Barbie told her.

Verosika laughed a bit before picking up Barbie and swiftly flying off the property the rehab centre was on.

She landed a few feet away from the gates and put Barbie, who was a bit shocked down on the ground.

“I forgot you had wings.” Barbie said, sticking out her hand as if she wanted to touch her wing.

Verosika playfully slapped her hand away. “Yeah, it makes sleeping on my back a bitch.”

“At least you can sleep on your side, my horns make any form of sleeping uncomfortable.” Barbie complained back.

Verosika laughed, stroking one of Barbie's horns softly. “Okay, you win. Now where are we actually going?”

Barbie started walking, “Just going to a random convenience store, probably hanging out in a random part.”

“Oh, so we are just acting like teenagers.” Verosika said, jogging a bit to catch up with Barbie.

“There isn’t much else we can do at this time of night without spending too much money or… y’know.” Barbie replied.

Verosika nodded, “Yeah I guess.” She said, finally catching up with Barbie.

Both demons walked at a pretty fast pace, Verosika looking to Barbie for directions.

After about 15 minutes they came to the nearest convenience store.

It was a pretty simple lay out, and all the windows were intact. Meaning, according to Hells standards it was a good store.

Deciding it would be best to only get a few things so they didn’t spend much money. They both got a drink each and some chips and candy to share.

It didn’t take very long to find and pay for the things they wanted. Barbie paid for everything and so they didn’t have to worry about the cashier noticing Verosika.

Luckily for them, there was a park around the corner from the store they went to. Meaning that they wouldn’t have to walk that far to find somewhere to sit.

Due to the time it was, the park was completely empty.

They made their way to a picnic table and sat down across from each other, sorting out their food in the space in between them.

Barbie opened a packet of chips. They were just original flavour, but it was the brand her mother used to buy for her and Blitzo as a treat. Whenever she had them as a kid she always felt so special.

When she reached adulthood she realised it was just the cheapest brand. She didn’t mind, her mother was trying her best.

Even at the times they could have afforded on brand food they never got it. Not when their dad thought the money would be better spent on ‘bettering’ the circus.

“It’s nice to be out of that place.” Verosika said, breaking the silence and snapping Barbie out of her thoughts.

Barbie nodded. “Yeah, I could tell you needed it,” She said. “I sorta needed it as well, to tell you the truth.”

“Was my mood really that obvious?” Verosika asked.

Barbie sighed, “Probably not to everyone, but I saw how your mood changed when you went from common areas to our room. I’ve been there, it sucks.”

She really felt for Verosika. While she was never as famous as Verosika, she did amount to some fame before her addiction. She knew how hard basically going from tour to rehab was.

“It's hard actually being vulnerable.” Verosika admitted.

Barbie nodded. “Tell me about it.” She said, taking a strawberry cloud from the packet of candy Verosika had just opened.

“Hey! That’s mine!” Verosika protested.

Barbie laughed and popped the lolly in her mouth, grinning back at Verosika and flipping her off.

She had decided that they had both felt too many emotions today needed to actually have fun while they weren’t under the pressure of the rehab centre.

Verosika flipped her off back and opened Barbie’s drink. She took a sip of it and let out an over exaggerated breath out afterwards.

Barbie then took another strawberry cloud, this time throwing it at Verosika.

Much to Barbie’s amusement and Verosika's annoyance, it got stuck in Verosika’s hair.

Barbie snorted and crawled onto the table to try to get it out of Verosika's hair.

Verosika blushed as Barbie fumbled trying to get the lolly unstuck from her hair.

Barbie hadn’t really been this close to Verosika before. Obviously she hadn’t really had a reason apart from when she was braiding the succubus's hair. This however was quite a different situation.

Her hair smelt surprisingly nice, her shampoo must have been sort of fruity.

“Your hair smells really good.” She blurted out before she could stop herself.

When she realised that she had said she recoiled a bit, pulling her hands away from Verosika and sitting up on the table and looking the other way, but not moving away.

Verosika blushed and looked in the other direction from Barbie.

She managed to get the lolly, that wasn’t actually that stuck, out of her hair pretty quickly.

When Verosika looked back at Barbie she was still blushing.

“I’d offer you some of my shampoo but I don’t think you’d have any use for it.” Verosika joked, trying to lighten the mood.

Barbie looked back at Verosika. “I don’t know why I said that! Can we like pretend it never happened.?”

Verosika stared at the ground. “I mean, I don’t mind.” She mumbled.

“What?” Barbie asked, not exactly catching what she said.

Verosika looked up. Barbie looked into her eyes.

“I don’t mind what you said. I mean I’ve had people say weirder stuff about me.” Verosika said.

Barbie looked down, still feeling slightly embarrassed.

“-Not that I think what you said was weird, I really don’t mind” She quickly added.

Barbie looked back up and went to her own food without saying anything.

She could feel that Verosika's eyes were still on her and didn’t want to make awkward eye contact.

“I’m serious Barbie, I don’t care. If I cared I’d be a huge bitch right now.”

Verosika gently grabbed Barbie’s face and turned it towards herself. Barbie didn’t reject this gesture.

“You know you’re really pretty.” Verosika said softly.

Barbie laughed. “Says you.”

Verosika smiled. “Can I kiss you?” She asked.

Barbie blushed even deeper than she was already blushing and nodded.

As Verosika leaned into Barbie, Barbie breathed in the fruity scent of her hair again unintentionally only making her more flustered.

She didn’t know why she was so nervous. She’d kissed people before, even other succubi but she didn’t get this flustered around them.

Barbie leaned further into Verosika and closed her eyes.

The kiss felt good. It wasn’t too rough or wet or awkward.

By the time the two demons pulled away they were both blushing messes.

“That felt good.” Barbie mumbled.

Verosika smiled. “You’re a good kisser.” She told her.

Once Barbie had gotten over the fact that they had just kissed then a succubus complemented her kissing skills, she stood up.

“We should probably get going.” She said, as she started to pack up their stuff. “Like before anyone notices we are gone.

Verosika nodded and helped her pack up.

They walked in silence the whole way back and didn’t even talk once they got back inside.

However, somehow Barbie found her way into Verosika’s bed that night and fell asleep in her arms.

Chapter 3: Day 3- Paparazzi/Photo op

Summary:

Verosika is just trying to do her shopping but is getting followed by a certain someone

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Verosika was on her weekly shopping trip. She usually found these trips mundane and didn’t enjoy having to hide from paparazzi and creepy fans just to get her groceries.

Today wasn’t so bad because she was going to see Barbie afterwards.

Her and Barbie had been dating for a little over 6 months now. After they both got out of rehab they managed to stay in touch and even stay sober.

Verosika knew this was huge for Barbie and to be honest it was huge for her as well.

To finally be in a meaningful relationship and to not be dependent on alcohol.

She had also taken a step back from performing for a while. She still did shows and wrote music, just not as much.

It was nice to be able to take some time for herself. She realised it had been some time since she’d done it and it was well needed.

This had slightly helped her in not constantly being followed around by random people she didn’t know, some of them not even fans.

However, this was in fact only slightly.

Verosika sighed as she looked over her shoulder to see an imp in a hoodie following her around.

Trying to ignore it, Verosika made her way over to the dairy section to get some almond milk for Barbie.

Normally Verosika would just drink skim milk, unless it was before a show. She still did drink skim milk most of the time, however she made sure she had dairy free alternatives when Barbie was around.

After walking away and going to a different aisle Verosika could see the imp that had been following her grab the same type of milk she had just grabbed before following her again.

She sighed and shook this off as a coincidence as it didn’t happen again while Verosika was picking out her dinner stuff.

It was odd how this imp did seem to be doing their own shopping while following her. Usually most people that followed her just followed, with a disregard for everything else.

She would have thought that, because of this, she wasn’t actually being followed if it wasn’t for the imps shooting her a look every few seconds.

Verosika tried to ignore this as she did her shopping. It was only one person, it was usually easy to ignore.

Normally, before her break. Verosika would have to avoid whole crowds of people.

This got especially bad the first month after she left rehab. It got to the point she had to hire more bodyguards and sometimes just didn’t leave the house.

With all of that, she didn’t know what was so different about this one person following her. It wasn’t even a danger. It was just like an annoying shadow.

Verosika made her last stop at the candy. Her and Barbie usually liked to have treats they liked when they met up. Sometimes something like that made eating easier for both of them

The imp in the hoodie followed her into this section as well, walking past her slightly and stopping a couple meters ahead of her.

Verosika made sure to pick out a chocolate she knew Barbie liked since she would be coming over later.

She picked up a hazelnut chocolate and put it in her basket before turning around to walk to the front of the store to check out.

To walk to the front of the store where the checkouts were Verosika had to walk past the hoodie imp.

While she was walking past she shot a look in the imps direction.

The imp’s back was turned to her so she didn’t see anything that could identify the imp. Come to think about it, Verosika hadn’t managed to catch a look at the imps face the whole time.

She could tell that the imp was harmless. If she was about to be attacked she would have been attacked already.

Verosika could see the imp looking at the price tag of a chocolate that Verosika herself liked. The brand was a little more on the expensive side when it wasn’t on special but obviously this didn’t seem to bother the imp as they picked it up anyway.

Once Verosika was at the checkout she noticed the imp didn’t follow her there. She was grateful for that.

The cashier was looking at her as if trying to figure out who she was. He was also looking behind her as if he was trying to figure out what she was looking at.

Apart from that this interaction was pretty normal and Verosika was able to check out quickly, leave the store and walk back to her car.

Outside the store she saw the hooded imp waiting around.

Sighing, she tried to walk in a different direction to avoid them. This however did not work and the imp quickly caught up to her.

“Verosika Mayday?!” The imp half yelled, in a voice that almost sounded put on. “Can I get a photo? I’m a huge fan.” They asked.

Verosika sighed, if she didn’t do this she would probably be followed home by this imp so she put on a fake smile and turned around.

“Sure thing, gorgeous.” She said, in her put on voice she rarely actually used, bending down to the imps level.

Verosika couldn’t see the imps face but she could tell they were absolutely beaming.

They pulled out their phone and held it up to take a picture.

Something about the phone looked very familiar, Verosika sensed something was up.

Once the imp took their hoodie off Verosika could see what was up.

“Barbs! You bitch!” She exclaimed, half amused, half annoyed.

Barbie-Wire laughed. “Took you long enough to notice.”

“I usually don’t try to pay attention to creepy people following me.” Verosika retorted, rolling her eyes playfully.

“I just wanted to see my hot girlfriend!” Barbie protested, fake pouting.

"You could have come up to me, you didn’t need to follow me around like a shadow.” Verosika pointed out.

“Yeah, yeah,” Barbie said. “Can I have a photo or what?”

Verosika smiled. “Yeah but make it quick, my house is a mess and I have someone very special coming over later.” She said, taking Barbie’s phone and snapping a picture of the two of them.

Barbie kissed her on the cheek at the last minute, causing Verosika to be blushing slightly in the photo.

Straight after Verosika gave Barbie her phone back, Barbie set the photo as her new lock screen.

“So see you in a couple hours?” Barbie asked. “I don’t care about your house being messy, you’ve seen the state of my apartment.” She added.

“Yeah, see you later.” Verosika bade, as Barbie walked away.

She smiled to herself as she walked to her car. Maybe not all ‘fan’ interactions were that bad.

Chapter 4: Day 4-Wrath Ring Visit

Summary:

Barbie and Verosika go to a hotel in Wrath

Notes:

So... I meant for the hotel part to be only a couple hundred words and Barbies surprise for Verosika was gonna be the main focus of the fic, then next thing I know it was 3am and I hadn't gotten to the next day yet so here this and Barbie's surprise will be in the free day🦎

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Barbie-Wire sighed and opened another drink bottle.

Sure all of Hell was hot as fuck, but she had at least grown accustom to the weather in other rings she had lived in, such as Pride and Greed.

Wrath however was hotter, dryer than pretty much all the other rings in Hell.

They were in Wrath for a holiday to celebrate them both being eight months sober.

Going to Wrath was Verosika's idea.

She said while a lot of it was farmland, the places where there actually were cities are cool.

Barbie hadn’t been to Wrath before. Verosika had been there a handful of times but only for tours so she never really got to enjoy it.

When Verosika told Barbie this, Barbie said that she thought that there was nothing to enjoy about Wrath and Verosika wanted to prove her wrong.

After a while of going back and forth they decided that they would take a trip down there for a couple of days, and since they both had their 10 months sober milestone coming up they decided it was a good occasion.

Barbie was used to long car rides, with growing up in a traveling circus and all.

It was actually very pleasant to be on a road trip without the back of your seat being kicked by your brother or his friend.

Verosika had driven from their apartment in Lust to the elevators then fallen asleep as soon as Barbie took over in Wrath.

She was now snoring softly. Barbie didn’t mind, it was probably well needed sleep.

A couple hours later, Barbie pulled into the hotel car park.

It was a pretty nice hotel. Verosika had insisted on paying a little bit more than Barbie so they could at least get a 4-star. Barbie had fought it for a bit, in the end she just paid as much as she could and let Verosika win.

It had made her so happy to help her, and Barbie loved seeing her girlfriend happy.

Barbie-Wire parked the car and gently shook Verosika awake.

Verosika startled at first, not releasing that she had fallen asleep.

“We’re here princess,” Barbie smiled. “It is kinda late though so we can go to bed as soon as we get our room. We have a big day planned for tomorrow.”

Verosika looked confused. “I didn’t think we planned anything? I thought we were just gonna do things as we go.”

“Yeah, but I planned something for tomorrow. It’s a surprise.” Barbie told her, getting out of the car.

“Mkay,” Verosika nodded. “As long as it’s not shitty horse riding lessons I’m excited.” She replied.

Barbie laughed, “I wouldn’t do that to you babe, don’t worry.”

It had taken them a couple weeks of knowing each other to figure out that Barbie’s shithead brother was the same person as Verosika’s shithead ex.

First they had been mad at each other over it for some reason. Barbie had said how it wasn’t her fault Verosika hadn’t bothered to look at her last name. Verosika had said that it wasn’t her fault that Barbie hadn’t mentioned her last name.

After a while they both realised their arguments were kind of dumb and started to bond over the fact they had been screwed over by the same person instead of hating each other for it.

When they walked into the lobby, Barbie put down their bags, walked up to the front desk and rang the bell.

It didn’t take for someone to pop up behind the desk to help them.

“I have a room booked under the name of Barbie Buckzo” She said, resting her arms on the desk.

The receptionist tapped around on the computer for a bit then looked from Barbie to Verosika then back at Barbie. “Are you sure you two wanted to book a couples suite?” He asked. “You’re both girls.”

Barbie looked back at Verosika, ‘I thought this place was chill?’ She mouthed.

Verosika shrugged. ‘ Me too.’ She mouthed back.

When Barbie and Verosika had decided to go to Wrath they knew they would have to pick an non-homophobic area’s.

It was something they would always have to think about, but they thought it would be especially true in Wrath.

After they did some research they found out some parts of Wrath were actually pretty progressive, especially for Hell.

Barbie looked back at the receptionist and wrapped her tail around Verosika’s”

“If you booked one by mistake there is a twin suite available I can move you to if you’d like.” The receptionist said.

“I wouldn’t like that actually.” Barbie replied. “We’ll take the couple suite I booked.”

“It would really be no problem.” The receptionist assured. “They are both ready for guests.”

“Yeah… but we want the couple suite.” Barbie said. Starting to get a bit impatient.

The receptionist sighed. “I’d just hate for you two lovely ladies to feel uncomfortable sharing a bed.” He said.

Barbie dropped Verosika’s tail and leant over the desk a bit, but not so much that she was in the hotel worker's face.

“It wouldn’t be uncomfortable at all, especially considering she’s my girlfriend!” Barbie half yelled, finally losing her patience.

The man behind the desk nodded and slipped Barbie over the key card. “My apologies ladies, your room is 350. Enjoy your stay.” He said, in the most customer service voice Barbie thought she had ever heard.

Barbie grabbed the card, then picked up Verosika and started walking to the elevator. A bellhop followed with their bags.

Their room was admittedly very nice. There was a light Wrath aesthetic but it wasn’t too in your face.

The only thing in the room that really screamed Wrath was a potted cactus in the corner.

Verosika sat down on the bed. “I’m not even really tired anymore.” She admitted.

Barbie sat down next to her, “Then don’t go to bed.” She said, smiling.

“What do you want to do then?” Verosika asked. “I don’t really feel like going out.”

Barbie thought for a moment. “We could jump on the bed?” She suggested, standing up and helping her girlfriend up too.

“What?” Verosika responded, watching as the imp climbed onto the bed.

“Jump on the bed.” Barbie said again, as if Verosika just hadn’t heard her.

When she saw Verosika still looking at her confused, she reached down her hand and pulled Verosika up so that the pink demon was standing on the bed too.

“You basically lived on tour for years so you must have stayed at plenty of hotels. How have you never jumped on a hotel bed?” She asked.

Verosika laughed. “I don’t know, I guess it was just never on my radar,” She said. “I didn't think you'd been in many hotels though," she added.”

Barbie sighed. “You’d be right, I haven’t,” She replied. “But sometimes when we weren’t staying in one place that long at a circus and it wasn’t worth setting up the tents we lived in, we would all stay in a cheap shitty hotel.” She explained.

“...And jump on the beds?” Verosika prompted.

“It was always moms idea.” Barbie said. “She always wanted us to be more like kids, but dad wouldn’t really let us. Not when he could make money off us.”

Verosika frowned. “Your mom seemed like she was lovely.” She said,

Barbie smiled a bit, “Yeah she was. Anyway I don’t feel like crying tonight so let's just jump on this bed.”

Barbie then grabbed Verosika’s arms and started jumping, Verosika following her lead.

After they both tired themselves out, they flopped down onto the bed.

“You’re right, that was fun.” Verosika said, after she caught her breath.

Barbie laughed. “I’m always right.” She said, leaning over to kiss Verosika.

Verosika then left to go take a shower and get ready for bed. Coming back 20 minutes later, dressed in her silk pyjamas with her hair in a messy bun.

Barbie went to get ready for bed straight after her, taking a quick shower and forgoing any skincare routine.

About 10 minutes later, she walked back into the hotel room. Dressed in an oversized band t-shirt and shorts.

After turning the light off she crawled into bed to see her girlfriend already asleep.

Wrapping her arms around Verosika, Barbie soon fell asleep as well.

Chapter Text

Verosika waited at the elevator station in Pride for Barbie to get off work. She was wearing an emerald green sparkly dress. Her hair was hanging down by her shoulders in loose curls.

It was their one year anniversary today and they were going to Ozzie’s to celebrate.

Verosika hadn’t been to Ozzie’s for a circumstance other than performing. She never really had someone to take. Even when she was dating someone, she usually tried to keep it private.

Dating Barbie had helped her with a lot of things. Not hiding who she was was one of the biggest things.

It was hard at first. She tried to keep her personality she shared with the public very surface level.

Originally Barbie and Verosika weren’t going to go public, but after the paparazzi released a photo of them together, they decided it wasn’t worth hiding anymore. It had made Verosika’s life a whole lot better, and probably Barbie’s too.

Barbie hadn’t shut up about this date the whole week leading up to it. Verosika had to admit that she was pretty excited as well. The set list looked interesting and she got to spend a night with Barbie.

Eventually she heard the familiar tapping or Barbie’s feet coming up behind her and a pair of red hands coming up to her face, covering her eyes.

“Guess who?” Barbie’s voice came from behind her.

Verosika laughed, “Hmm, Kikki? Coco?” She asked, mock thoughtfully.

Barbie’s laugh came from behind her.

Before she knew it, Barbie had flipped over the bench Verosika was sitting on so they were sitting next to each other.

Barbie hadn’t had much time to clean up in between now and work but she had cleaned up pretty well.

She was wearing a navy blue suit with a matching waistcoat and bow tie. Her makeup consisted of just thick eyeliner and nothing else.

Verosika wasn’t used to seeing Barbie all dressed up. Of course she didn’t mind what Barbie wore normally, but seeing her girlfriend like this definitely flustered her a bit.

“Hey Babe,” Said Barbie, who sprawled herself over Verosika’s lap. “Are you ready for date night?”

Verosika laughed and stroked one of Barbie’s horns. “Of course I’m ready.” She laughed. “Now get up, the elevator should be here soon.”

Barbie rolled off Verosika’s lap and onto the floor, then scrambled onto her feet and held out a hand for Verosika to take.

Smiling, Verosika took her hand and the two demons walked towards the elevator entrance to go to Lust.

Once the couple got to Ozzie’s they were seated immediately.

A mixture of Verosika being Verosika and Barbie knowing Fizzarolli personally.

Verosika also knew Fizzarolli personally, they had bonded backstage over hating Blitzo.

However Barbie was childhood friends with Fizzarolli and they had helped each other through Fizz’s accident and Barbie’s addiction. Unlike Blitzo who had left and the last they heard of him he was in some prison in Greed.

They had been lucky enough to get a seat right up by the stage, but not so close to the stage they would have to strain their necks to watch the show.

A small imp waitress came up to take their drink order. At first when they tried to order virgin drinks they had not been able to something about ‘we don’t do that shit at Ozzie’s.’

After some back and forth another waitress came out who imminently recognised Barbie and Verosika, apologized and took their order.

Verosika had ordered a virgin strawberry margarita and Barbie just ordered a coca cola. She generally preferred soda to alcohol. Alcohol had never really been an addiction of hers, the main reason she didn’t drink was because of Verosika.

The waiter that brought out their drinks took their orders for food.

Barbie ordered for the both of them because she could tell the waiter was eyeing Verosika weirdly.

Verosika ended up getting a salmon dish and Barbie got a burger with fries.

Once Barbie had finished ordering the imp left, but not without looking over his shoulder back at Verosika a couple of times.

Shortly after their meals came, Fizzarolli jumped onto the stage and started to introduce the lineup for the night's show.

Verosika had always enjoyed watching Fizzarolli as MC. Sometimes he was more entertaining than some of the acts.

Verosika tried to shift her attention between watching the shower, eating, and looking at her girlfriend. She ended up just looking at Barbie.

Barbie concentrating too hard on eating her burger to notice anything that was going on around her. She didn’t notice Verosika staring at her until she had finished her burger.

Her reaction to finding out she was being stared at for Satan knows how long, was sending Verosika a suggestive wink and picking up her hand to give it a kiss.

This made Verosika’s face turn as red and Barbie’s was naturally. This made Barbie laugh.

“It's been a year and you’re still a blushing mess I see.” She teased.

Verosika only blushed harder. “Shut up” She said, shifting her attention back to her own food.

Barbie smiled. “I think it’s cute.” She said matter of factly. “But I just think you’re cute all the time,” she reiterated.

Verosika smiled and took a sip of her drink. “I think you’re cute too.” She said, leaning over the table to give Barbie a kiss.

After finishing their food, then indulging in dessert because to quote Barbie. “Fuck diet culture we can eat whatever we want.”

Surprisingly, when they started to date they were able to help each other with their eating. Rather than drag each other further down the eating disorder path, like Verosika’s friends thought might happen.

Both demons were endlessly grateful for that.

They ended up deciding to share a sticky date pudding since neither of them thought they would be able to finish a full dessert after the dinner they had just had.

Their dessert got to the table quickly and they ate it pretty quick.

It was getting later than they were both used to staying out in recent months and they were both getting tired.

Verosika called for the bill and paid for both of their meals.

She had no problem paying for the meals. She also knew that Barbie would pay her back when they got back home.

She wanted nothing more than to fall asleep in her girlfriend's arms, and by Barbie’s clinginess all the way back home, she could tell she was going to get that.

Chapter 6: Day 6-Movie Night

Summary:

Verosika and Barbie watch a movie and talk about their feelings

its late shhhh

Chapter Text

Barbie-Wire and Verosika had inadvertently made Friday nights movie nights.

Neither of them had really noticed it happening, or could recall a starting point but they were both very fond of this tradition.

It had become easier to keep it going since they moved in together.

The routine was pretty simple. Barbie would come home from work, she would choose a movie to watch with Verosika then they would wind down for the day and have dinner before curling up on the couch together in front of their chosen movie.

Tonight the movie they had decided they needed a family movie, something light hearted after a busy week.

They chose something from the living world. Verosika had seen it on her job a couple months ago and thought it looked okay so stole the DVD.

Verosika setup the DVD player and slipped in the DVD, then sat down on the couch next to Barbie.

Once the menu screen popped up, Barbie went into the settings to turn on subtitles then pressed play.

She then rested her head on Verosika’s shoulders as the ‘The Parent Trap’ started to play.

“Did you ever switch places with your brother?” Verosika asked, joking.

“Nah.” Barbie answered. “Even if we were the same gender, his forehead is too big, it wouldn’t work.” She laughed.

Barbie was quiet for a moment. “This movie is pretty messed up when you think about it,” She said. “Like I know things ended badly, but I can’t imagine not having a childhood without Blitzo” She admitted.

Verosika nodded. “What was he like?” she asked. “Like as a kid. He never really talked about his childhood much.”

“That's probably cause it was pretty shit.” Barbie told her, pausing the movie. “I sort of don’t remember. He liked horses and pirates. His sense of humour was odd, he didn’t really get many laughs that weren’t from me or Fizz, apart from that one time this Goetia prince came to watch the show.”

“Do you miss him ever?” Verosika asked, as a follow up.

Barbie sighed and shrugged. “I don’t know.” She said, “Do you?”

“Sometimes,” Verosika admitted. “I miss him before he became like an ass. I mean, he was always sort of an ass, but that was part of his charm.”

Barbie nodded. “Sounds like him. He was nicer as a kid I guess.”

Verosika sighed. “I could tell he was hurting, and I wanted to help, but I was hurting too, and it felt like he was taking it out on me, and I couldn’t take it.”

Barbie nodded, she didn’t really know what to say. There wasn’t really much she thought she could say.

Instead of saying anything, Barbie rested her head back on Verosika's shoulder.

Verosika smiled, “At least we have each other.” She said, petting one of Barbie's horns.

“Mhm.” Barbie nodded. “At least we have each other.”

Notes:

in this Barbie calls Blitz 'Blitzo' cause she doesn't know and Verosika just doesn't tell her
