Chapter Text
It was supposed to be another regular day for Steven. Of course no day was ever regular in the young teen’s life. Never was and never will be. There would always be more incidents of Gems needing his help, the past of his mother catching up to him (although he deeply hoped that chapter of his life was over after Spinel) and he was aware that his relationship with Connie wouldn’t always be all good and well. There would be miscommunications, maybe even fights, but he knew that they could work through these things.
Right now, however, his regular day consisted of checking on the Gems that were residing in Little Homeworld. Or at least it was supposed to. Right after waking up in the little Beach house he grew up in and getting ready for the day he was greeted by one of the many Gems he had met throughout the last two years.
“My diamond.”
Letting out a startled yelp at the sudden deep, yet feminine, voice Steven was met with the sight of Jasper standing beside his door. “Jasper! What are you doing here?” The male questioned, genuinely confused why the tangerine skinned Gem would just… stand there.
To be fair he always knew she was an… odd one. To put it kindly. But to just stand there and wait for him to exit his house? Did she plan on standing there the whole day if he hadn’t come out? Would she have entered by kicking down the door? Ah, even after talking with her in her “home” and having her respect him he didn’t have a clue about how her thought process worked. “What does it look like?” The female presenting Gem questioned roughly, uncrossing her arms from the usual Diamond Salute. “I’m here to escort my Diamond to his daily destinations.”
Ugh, here she goes again… “Jasper, I keep telling you, you don’t have to call me “my Diamond”. In fact, I’d prefer if you stopped calling me that.” Steven sighed out as he felt himself growing tired again despite just having woken up from his slumber. “I’m not your Diamond, I’m just Steven! You’re your own person, uh… Gem, now. Remember?” His smile and encouraging words were only met with a scoff of the Quartz Soldier.
He knew there was nothing to fear about Jasper. Well, that wasn’t entirely correct. There was plenty to fear about her; her love for fights, her martial arts skills, her height… Seriously, this woman was 9 feet tall. Steven would only be able to ever meet her at eye level if he shapeshifted. Anyway! What he was trying to say was that, after shattering her and gaining her respect, he didn’t have to fear her as a threat anymore. Jasper was still an incredibly impressive gem - her mere appearance already leaving plenty of other Gems awestruck, although it wasn’t always obvious if in fear or admiration – but they were… friends?
Eh, that felt like too much. They weren’t enemies at least and that was the most important thing to Steven. However, he would really prefer it if she wouldn’t tail him everywhere he went.
“I’m a Quartz Soldier, Steven.” Jasper responded after a short while, emphasizing the teen’s name to show him she somewhat listened to what he was saying. “There might be no one worthy left to fight, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to just… slack off like them.” She spat as the duo walked past a group of amethysts playing Volleyball under Pearl’s supervision.
The black haired male waved at his friend with a pleased smile on his face. He was happy to see that little Homeworld and Beach City only had Jasper as the problem child. “Jasper, they’re not slacking off.” Steven spoke to the large Gem as they entered Beach City. “They’re finding their new identities, themselves, after so many eons of just being what they were told to be.” Glancing at her out of the corner of his eye Steven could already see that he wasn’t getting through to her.
Again.
Another scoff followed soon after, the cold glare of Jasper’s contradictory warm amber eyes scaring away a group of civilians. “I don’t need a new identity; I know who I am.” Or at least she thought she did. A frustrated groan left the small half-gem beside her as they trotted down the streets towards little Homeworld. “I’m not saying you don’t know who you are. And I’m not trying to say you have to change yourself completely either.”
“Then why should I do what these fools are doing?” Jasper barked out as respectfully as she could. This topic may be upsetting to her, but she was still speaking to her diamond. “Because things changed!” Steven eventually exclaimed, the palm of his hand meeting his forehead with a satisfying (and slightly painful, ouch) smack.
Honestly, he was getting tired of this. It felt as if they kept having this conversation ever since Steven earned her respect a couple weeks ago. This Gem was so incredibly stubborn, he was seriously slowly losing hope she would ever change, that she was even capable of change. “Era 2 is over, Jasper. There’s no war, no rebellion; things changed.” The male repeated once more, putting on a friendly, yet slightly strained smile as he stepped foot into little Homeworld with the muscular Gem by his side. “I’m not going to give you the order to change. That’s not the point of all of this.” He sped up his steps a little in his growing irritation, not surprised at all that Jasper was easily keeping up with him. “You have to want to change, you have to want to adapt to this new way of living for you guys. Take part in some lessons, explore Beach City, try making friends-“ “If that’s what my diamond orders.”
Now she did it. She made Steven let out a scream of frustration. She’s seriously not getting it at all! “I’m not ordering you to do anything! You’re supposed to-!” There really was no point in getting this upset about this, was there? Nothing he said so far was able to change Jasper’s mind, his first lesson of the day was about to start, and there was nothing new he could tell her. Right now he didn’t even want to keep trying to change her mind. He just wanted a break.
Wasn’t that ridiculous? His day just started, and he already wanted a break.
“You know what? I actually got an order for you.” “Really?” Steven did not like how Jasper’s eyes just lit up. It wasn’t in the same way they did when he agreed to fight her by himself, but he still didn’t like that sight. “Yes. My first lesson is starting in a bit, so I don’t have time to do it right now, but there’s a necklace I’d like you to pick up for me.” Now Jasper looked disappointed. Almost offended.
“You’re offending me.” Ah, so she was offended, alright. “I’m a soldier, not a courier. I’m not a Citrine.” The large Gem snorted condescendingly as she grimaced at the mere thought of being put in the same caste as those yellow clods. However, she quickly remembered that she was speaking to her Diamond. Yeah, she sometimes still had to get used to that, too. Clearing her throat in light fluster she tried to save herself by explaining she simply meant that some other Gem was better fit for such a task. It was obvious Steven was having none of it though.
“I want you to do this for me Jasper.” Steven told the female presenting Gem. He was aware that she wasn’t going to take long. As he marked the way for her on a map of Beach City he was reminded that the walk to the Jeweler was rather short. It was something he planned on doing himself during his lunch break, but… Glancing at Jasper as she looked around in distaste (or maybe something else? Nah, it had to be distaste) at what everyone else was doing Steven shook his head. Yeah, this was a good idea. Even if it only gave him five minutes without her tailing him.
Handing the map to Jasper Steven gave her an encouraging smile before slowly pushing her towards the exit of Little Homeworld again. “Pearl said that this necklace’s pendant is unnaturally big, so there’s a possibility it might be a Gem.” He explained the situation to her as he guided her out of the small Gem inhabited city but it only earned him a confused stare. “I mean, she said there might be a possibility that it’s a Homeworld Gem, not an earth gem.” Steven clarified; the small grunt he heard being taken as confirmation that she understood what he meant.
Oh yeah, that was a whole other topic. The first time a human with gem-decorated jewelry came to Little Homeworld it caused quite an uproar. The Gems were offended, disgusted, absolutely horrified to see “one of their kind” shattered simply to be used as a decoration for humans. It took a long time for Steven to explain to everyone that these gems from earth weren’t the same as the Gems from Homeworld. They were never sentient, simply a clump of minerals and different elements pressed together in a weirdly aesthetically pleasing way after centuries of forming beneath the earth’s surface.
The Gems were still suspicious, of course, since there was no real way to prove whether or not those gems were shattered Gems or just gems. Still, his explanation as well as the support of Garnet, Pearl and Amethyst helped everyone calm down.
Yet it came with a new task he had to take care of: Find any Gem that might be wrongly trapped inside of jewelry or other objects.
This necklace he was sending Jasper to fetch for him just so happened to be part of that group. When Pearl saw it inside the store she said, and that was a direct quote, that it was “way too perfect in color and shape to be part of earth’s gems”. Naturally she didn’t mean to offend earth’s gems since they were all beautiful in their own way, but Steven understood what she meant. Aside from their placement every Gem from Homeworld was already perfect when they emerged. Not in a literal, general sense, but simply when you looked at the gems themselves.
Some were off color, yes, but the cuts were always perfect. All diamonds had their natural diamond shape, every Lapis was shaped in the form of a tear drop, while every Peridot was triangular shaped. Naturally there were exceptions, but still. The Gems of Homeworld didn’t need someone to clear them off and debris or leftover earth that clung to them. They were perfect once they appeared unlike their earthly counterparts.
With that in mind it was not farfetched for the Gems to think that this specific gem might be a Gem. Although, funnily enough, Pearl wasn’t certain what kind it could be. She said it looked like a blue Opal when she saw it the first time, but it didn’t anymore when she got a closer look at it.
Either way it might be a new friend for all of them to meet, so Steven wanted to make sure that, if this was another Gem, they would have a warm welcome.
“So, can you go get it for me? I want to make sure they’ll reform around others to feel more at ease. After all we don’t know how long they’ve been in that thing.” The way he phrased it made it sound like he was asking Jasper for a favor instead of ordering her to do something. Which was exactly what he preferred. He disliked the feeling of him ordering anyone around. Doing friends some favors sounded a lot better, right? Right.
Still, no matter how he phrased it, Jasper saluted him once more and left him standing at the top of the stairs with a ‘As you wish, my Diamond’. He gave her a strained smile until she turned around and walked off, a sense of relief washing over him as he watched her figure get slightly smaller with each step she took. “Now to get to my class.”
Similarly to Steven, Jasper could feel a sense of relief wash over her when she stepped outside Little Homeworld. She may be stubborn – stubborn, prideful, and combative – but she wasn’t stupid. The tangerine skinned Gem was well aware that her Diamond- that Steven was right in everything he told her.
The Era of invasion ended. The Era of War and Rebellion ended. This time, this “Era 3”, was a peaceful one. One in which fighting against enemies, fighting for one’s Diamond and to conquer new planets for the Empire, was unnecessary. And it was exactly this that bothered Jasper so much.
She was the one and only Ultimate Quartz. The infamous Quartz Soldier that came out of her hole with her weapon already out in the open, proudly adoring her head, before she took out not ten, not twenty but eighty Crystal Gems. Despite her being from the Beta Kindergarten on earth, despite being born on this miserable piece of dirt that was floating around in space, she was amazing. She had everything. The perfect exit hole, the perfect build for a Quartz, a perfect win record in battles.
Back in Homeworld she was a hero. And that despite her origins.
Not only because of her morals and accomplishments, but because of her hard work. Jasper always knew that coming from Earth – the failed colony from the fallen Diamond – would make her weak. Even if she was above other gems due to her being a Quartz she would always be a joke to everyone simply for being made on Earth. She hated knowing this. From the moment she emerged from her hole, she was burdened with the knowledge that she would have to work twice, even thrice, as hard as everyone else just to be taken seriously.
So that’s exactly what she did. Every command her diamond gave her was fulfilled to perfection. Until she had arrived back on earth she had never failed Yellow Diamond. But after that day… after losing to that fusion… things had changed.
They changed quickly and into a direction no one saw coming… Jasper stopped in her tracks. She had been mindlessly wandering after receiving her order, but now that she saw Gems and humans walking around side by side it made her wonder.
Why was everyone accepting this change so easily?
Jasper never thought that the way they did things was anything particularly bad. They took over planets to live on, so what? Anyone who had the same advantages and opportunities as them would do the same. So why was everyone so happy to have things change? Why did they like not having to play their role? To her it just didn’t make sense. She knew exactly why it didn’t make sense to her as well.
Her whole life she had identified herself as the Ultimate Quartz. For 5,200 years she had taken pride in being the best Gem that was produced on earth. Fighting against the enemy, fighting for her Diamond, being a Quartz Soldier was all she knew. It was all she was, all she would ever be.
It was her life.
And now everyone expected her to just… give up on that? To toss every achievement she worked so hard for into a bin and become a teacher, a gardener or whatever the hell the others were doing?
That wasn’t anything she could do. It wasn’t something she wanted to do. Simply because deep down, if she looked hard enough, she could see her own fear. The fear of being unable to do something for the first time; being unable to change like everyone around her seemed to be. Whenever she mustered up the courage to try something new Jasper stopped herself before she could go through with it. There were simply too many questions running around her head.
What if this wouldn’t work out? What if she was bad at whatever she tried? What if she wouldn’t be able to fight a new purpose for herself? What if, after all those eons of her fighting to be accepted, she would become an outcast, because everyone finally saw that she wasn’t anything special at all. Her only worth had been out on the battlefield… Who needs a soldier in time of peace that can’t do anything but fight?
Those thoughts were all too much. Whenever she tried changing, whenever she thought about it, her head would start spinning. Her vision would go blurry, everything around seemed to slow down yet speed up at the same time, to the point where she had to punch the wall next to her just to ground herself again. It was too much. All this change was too much for her to handle. Naturally she’d never admit that out loud to anyone. Fuck, she wasn’t even admitting it to herself despite hearing this nagging voice inside her head every day! It kept calling her weak, pathetic, useless for being overwhelmed with a task so simple that everyone around her could easily do it.
Why? Why is it so easy for all of you?! The former warrior yelled at the people and Gems around her as she stomped down the street. The feeling of her feet aggressively hitting the ground the only thing keeping her from going insane. This isn’t fair. How can this be so easy for all of you? For Pearls, for Peridots… How are you all able to do these things so easily? Throwing the door to the jeweler open Jasper watched as various humans made room for her, uneasiness and fear visible in their eyes.
She hated it.
Jasper loved seeing the fear in her enemies eyes back when she was still a proper soldier. But she never wanted random civilians to be scared of her. She was a hero. She protected those dear to her – her superiors, fellow soldiers, the ones she respected – and more importantly she only fought those who were worth fighting against. These puny humans were no match for her. She’d never bother to start a fight with them although she’d happily end one if she came across one.
“I came for my Diamond’s order.” She gruffly informed the man behind the counter who was staring at her as if he never saw a 9 feet tall woman before. Let’s be honest, he most likely didn’t until now. Poor guy. It was written all across his face how overwhelmed he was with the situation.
“Y-Your Diamond?” The glasses wearing male squeaked out, ducking behind the counter when Jasper’s eyes glared down at him. “He couldn’t pick up that ‘necklace’ he ordered.” The amber eyed Gem added on to her previous statement, her watchful eyes taking in every movement of the small man in front of her. “So I came in his stead.” Apparently the human understood what Jasper meant after this. Or so she assumed. Whether he did or not was of no interest of her, the important thing was that he was getting whatever Steven wanted from this place.
Turning her head to the side Jasper took a closer look at the jewelry at display. Different kinds of ropes laid in glass showcases, most of them adored with gems she could easily recognize. There were Sapphires, Rubies, Spinels… Diamonds.
It honestly gave her the creeps. Seeing so many gems surround her and knowing they were nothing but… lifeless minerals. It was weird. It was a weird, new concept she had to get used to. The thought made her scowl. Another new thing to get used to. Seriously, she was sick of everything around her changing. Couldn’t at least one thing stay the same?
…Maybe that was why she was serving Steven now.
With the other Diamonds at Homeworld, Steven playing the role as her Diamond was the only thing that was still same. Receiving orders from him and fulfilling them to his satisfaction was the only thing that stayed consistent. The only thing she still knew she could do without fail.
But it wasn’t the exact same. Nothing was.
“H-Here you go.” A meek voice snapped Jasper out of her thoughts. The tiny human was back with one of the ropes from the displays. Upon the first glance Jasper could tell that this gem was different. She was unaware of its name and purpose for Homeworld, but it certainly wasn’t a gem from Earth. Seemed as if Pearl and Steven were onto something with this thing.
Snatching it out of the man’s hand the large woman simply stomped out of the store, ducking her head to fit through the insanely small door frame. Seriously, what was up with those? She barely fit through any of them…
With a firm grip on the necklace Jasper stomped down the same way she came from. This errand had barely taken her ten minutes to complete. As always she had been very efficient. She was sure her Diamond would be pleased.
So why did she feel so shitty about this?
Don’t answer that. She already knew the answer to this. It was because she would be back at Little Homeworld soon. That dreaded place that reminded her of all her current struggles. Not only of that, but of the fact that she was completely alone.
Yes, she was aware that there were hundreds of Gems around her. She wasn’t alone, but she felt lonely. No one aside from her was struggling with these adjustments to her new life. No one else was bothered by the end of Era 2 and everyone except her had found a new purpose already. She was all alone. Stuck in her old ways of thinking and behaving, with no clear way out of it. Not even Steven, the master of change, was able to help her. He tried his best and she was acknowledging that, but… his best wasn’t good enough. Not for her at least.
Coming across an empty area of the beach Jasper came to a halt. Was this her life now? Hating herself even more than before, feeling more inferior to everyone else than she already did while completing any task Steven gave her mindlessly? She hated that thought. But it was better than being completely by herself with all her thoughts.
She took a glance down at her hand, the one that was still holding onto the necklace as tightly as she could. Curiously she lifted it up to her face until the gem was at eye level with her.
“What a curious gem you are.” Jasper muttered as her eyes took in every details of the oval gem. It reminded her of an opal, yet she was aware that it wasn’t one. It wasn’t as colorful as an opal, only shimmering in an electric blue when the light hit it just right. When it got hit at a different angle Jasper noticed that it was semi-transparent and otherwise had a milky white hue to it. This gem… was unlike any Jasper saw so far.
The Diamonds were radiant, an aura of elegance surrounding them that no one else could match. Peridot had the loveliest shades of green in all of Homeworld, while Lapis Lazuli had the deepest blue. Opals were shining in the colors of the rainbow much like Bismuth. Everyone was beautiful in its own way, their poofed states a gorgeous display despite the Gem having lost their previous form. And yet this particular one was more beautiful to her than all the others she’s seen so far. It had something… otherworldly, funnily enough. It was so gorgeous to her that, for the first time, Jasper could understand why humans would take it and put it on display.
Jasper wasn’t entirely sure how precious this gem was. Not knowing what kind it belonged to made it hard to determine whether or not she was exaggerating her reaction to their poofed appearance. And yet the tough female found herself not caring about these things for once.
As she stared at the different hues of blue that were trapped inside the clump of mineral in her hands she became unbothered about whether this gem was below or above her. All she cared about was the sudden sense of calmness that washed over her. The various shades of blue were almost hypnotizing, lulling her subconscious worries to sleep, and for the first time in months Jasper truly felt at ease. Suddenly every worry she had seemed so small, so insignificant. She felt as if she was back to her old self. Back to her strong, confident demeanor, back to the feeling of being able to do whatever she put her mind to.
How weird… To feel all these things and not even be fused… How peculiar. She never felt this way with any other poofed gem before. “Just what are you?” Jasper found herself asking out loud, staying silent for a second as if the precious stone could reply in her current state.
Scoffing at her own foolishness Jasper lowered her hand. How stupid. Taking comfort in a strange gem that might not even be part of my kind. It was stupid to her and yet she found herself unable to rip her eyes off the necklace completely. Her eyes kept glancing at the wondrous feldspar, the same sense of comfort rushing over her like the waves that came flowing to the beach in their endless dance with the moon. “I don’t know what it is…” She started quietly, her feet finally moving again as she wandered back towards Little Homeworld. The firm grasp she had on the rope- no, on the necklace softened lightly. Instead of holding the chain itself Jasper chose to take a hold of the gem. Gently her thumb stroked its surface as another wave of peace washed over her. “But there’s something weird about you.”
For once, as she got closer to her current residence, Jasper didn’t feel nervous. The sight of Little Homeworld didn’t infuriate her. It didn’t make her vision go blurry or her anger bubble up inside of her. For once the tangerine skinned Gem felt like things were right. Like she belonged here.
Is this really your doing? Jasper wondered as her amber eyes looked down at the stone once more. In this exact moment the sun hit it so perfectly that a ray of sunshine hit her directly in her eye, almost as if the gem was trying to reply to her. “You’re so unlike the others…” Maybe that means I won’t be alone much longer.
She doubted it, but a Gem could hope, right?
“My Diamond, I have returned.” Jasper announced her presence to Steven and the others as she stepped into the room. Pearl and Garnet were standing there with him, silently hushing to each other before their previous conversation came to a stop. It didn’t take a genius to figure out that they were talking about her until just now. Grimacing at this knowledge Jasper simply held up the necklace for the four of them to see. “And I brought the rope you requested.” Chuckling lightly at her phrasing Steven stepped closer to the large gem. “It’s a necklace, Jasper.” He reminded her, once more receiving a groan in response. Holding out his smaller hands to her, Jasper opened hers and watched as the gem fell into Steven’s, the peace and relief leaving her as soon as the gem slipped through her fingers. The young male was astonished at the size of the necklace’s pendant in his hands, his dark eyes growing bigger in surprise before he turned to Pearl.
The former Pearl of Pink Diamond stepped forward with a device Peridot made. The tiny Gem had given a long explanation about what her newest invention did, but to make it quick; it was able to differentiate earth gems from Homeworld’s with a simple scan.
Whenever Steven and the others found any object with a bigger than average gem attached to it they would secure it and scan it with this little gadget. Once their suspicions were confirmed (which happened rather rarely actually) they helped the Gems find their place in this new, strange world they had built. If the gem just so happened to not be from Homeworld, they gave the object back to their previous owners.
Simple as that.
“Alright, let’s see…” Pearl murmured to herself as she activated the scanner, the others around her watching in anticipation. “Dooo you have any idea what kind it is?” Steven questioned one of his three mothers as he watched her work. The pale Gem merely shook her head at her old love’s son. Jasper frowned at that. She didn’t show it, obviously, but she wanted to know what kind of Gem this was. She had never felt this way before when she held a poofed gem, so it had to be something special, right? “I thought it was a blue opal… They do look similar to one, but it’s not.” Finishing the scanning process the group now had to wait a couple minutes for the results.
Shaking his head lightly Steven held the gem up to his face, much like Jasper had done on the beach. “There are Gems you guys don’t know?” The teen questioned, surprised that his gem mothers didn’t know about this particular gem. “There are tons of Gems out there Steven. We can’t know every one there is.” Pearl laughed lightly, her light cyan eyes catching Garnet’s behind her visor. The two of them could feel the uneasiness grow within them. An unknown Gem could mean trouble. After all they couldn’t know for how long it has been trapped in this necklace, which alliance it belonged… they didn’t even know what kind of powers it could possibly possess! Freeing it might put their happily ever after in jeopardy…
A beeping sound signaled that the scanner has come to a conclusion. In bold, black letters stood the result in a simple word: Homeworld. The composition of this Gem was the same as Homeworld’s.
Steven smiled brightly at this new revelation, his hand already reaching for the trapped Gem, when Garnet stopped him. “Maybe we should think this over.” Pearl spoke up, her obvious unease finally getting noticed by the young earthling. She didn’t need to say anything else for Steven to know what she was thinking. This unknown Gem could be a possible danger. “Nonsense.” Jasper grunted impatiently, stepping closer to Steven before leaning down to his face. “You wanted to free the Gem inside this rope-“ “Necklace.” “Whatever!” Just like she did to the poor man at the jeweler, Jasper snatched the necklace out of Steven’s hand again.
Ah, there it was. That sense of peace and comfort.
“You wanted to free them, didn’t you?” The large female inquired, not realizing the potential danger this Gem bore. No, she knew all about it. Jasper was well aware that an unknown Gem could wreak havoc on this planet. However, at this moment, when she saw the hesitation and uncertainty in the others’ eyes, she couldn’t care less.
Somehow this Gem was able to give her a sense of comfort she had been missing for too long. Simply holding it in her hand gave her a feeling of belonging. So, whatever this was, she didn’t care. Jasper wanted to meet them in person. She wanted to meet the Gem that so easily made her feel at peace simply by being in her vicinity. And if they just so happened to be dangerous, looking for a fight and to cause a scene here… then Jasper would happily take them on in a fight. To her, this newcomer’s appearance only had positives, really. “If you wanted to free them, why are you hesitating now?” The large woman huffed out, a frown gracing her features as she looked down upon Steven.
“Hesitation is for the weak.” She was curious. What Gem was this? What would they be like? “And here I thought you left that pitiful way of acting behind you.” Jasper laughed lightly in amusement, disappointment, as her fingers grabbed the edges of the oval stone. She could hear the ringing in her ears and, if she would have the same body as humans, she would be able to feel her heart pounding against her rib cage. She was excited. “J-Jasper, wait! Don’t do that!” Steven called out to the Gem warrior, panic suddenly overtaking him when he thought of this Gem maybe doing something similar to what Spinel did. “If you’re not going to free them…” With a strong, but careful, pull she separated the Gem from the necklace. “I will.” The large woman finished her sentence, a pleased grin taking over her face when she watched them glow inside her hand.
Jasper could feel the Gem inside her grasp trying to break free, the grin on her face widening as she let it go. Engulfed in a white light she watched as the newcomer floated in the air until she felt someone stumble into her. It was Steven. “Why would you just free them?!” The young male questioned right when Jasper pushed him away from her. Her diamond or not, she disliked others casually getting into her personal space. “Freeing them was the whole point of me retrieving that stupid rope for you!” “It’s a necklace-“ “Who cares?! I didn’t get whatever this was to just let them keep rotting in it!”
This isn’t good. We don’t know anything about this Gem! They could do anything, they could destroy everything- A flash of bright light filled the room, the silhouette of a person in the middle of it. “What do you plan on doing if they attack us?!” The small Universe inquired, disappointed but not surprised by Jasper’s reply. “I’ll fight them, simple as that.” “That’s why you freed them?!” Steven exclaimed incredulously. It wasn’t, but Jasper would never tell anyone about the real reason. Before anyone else could get another word in, though, they were met with the sight of a fully reformed Gem.
In front of the small group stood an elegant looking Gem. Much like Blue Diamond’s pearl she was wearing a periwinkle bodysuit with a sweetheart neckline, although the Gem in front of them had decided to go for a (f/c) hue instead of a frosty blue one. Wrapped around her arms were short, sheer sleeves in a slightly lighter (f/c) while her legs were covered with a sheer skirt of the same color. The fabric of it was slightly shorter in the front, only reaching the female presenting Gem’s knees, while the fabric at the back reached her mid-calves. The pointe ballerina shoes she was wearing were the same color as her bodysuit, completing her outfit that overall reminded Steven of a dancer.
“She looks… different than the other gems.” Steven pointed out rather quickly, but he wasn’t speaking about the choice of clothing they wore. It was about her skin. While most Gems had only their gem’s color as their skin color – with some exceptions, who had stripes or dots or something alike on them – this Gem had a color gradient to its skin. Her face, lower arms, lower legs, and feet were (s/c) but then slowly started to change into a shade of (f/c). “You’re right… even her eyes are different.” Garnet noted as she inspected the new Gem in front of her. They, too, had a gradient; slowly turning from a light, soft (f/c) to a darker hue. He also noticed that the gem that was previously stuck in the necklace was now placed on her throat.
Cautiously the Crystal Gems watched as the stranger took in her new surroundings. Curious eyes glanced around the room as she turned around, either unaware or uncaring of the various pairs of eyes that were watching her. Eventually the Gem’s (f/c) colored eyes were met with the sight of the group in front of her though. Much like the Gems in front of her she took their forms in carefully. Her eyes glanced over the Garnet and the Pearl, staying focused on Steven a little longer before fixating on Jasper’s form. Amber eyes met (f/c) ones and the peculiar Gem could feel her skin heat up the slightest bit.
She had been sleeping in that necklace for a while now, but she still remembered every Gem she met during her long, long lifetime and this… this Jasper in front of her was by far the most stunning of them all. She was perfect. Jasper was easily double her size, sharp features adoring her face that were surrounded by a gorgeous mane of beige hair, and those muscles. Goodness, they were awakening feelings inside of her that were entirely new to her.
And the newcomer wasn’t the only one who was so utterly smitten. Jasper already thought that this Gem’s poofed form was incredibly beautiful, but her reformed one? It was breathtaking, unlike anything she’s ever seen. From her hair to her eyes, the shape of her lips and the noticeably smaller body compared to her big, muscular one, everything about her was perfect in the former soldier’s eyes. The way those eyes were staring into hers… In this light they were sparkling like the stars. To think that those lovely pools of (f/c) were looking at her in this moment, drinking in every last drop of her essence as if she was the most beautiful thing they have ever seen… it actually made her cheeks heat up the slightest bit.
Then there was her voice. Praise the Diamonds, that voice. It was divine, like a perfect melody. And it was directed at her before anyone else. “Gorgeous.” The smaller Gem had breathed out as her eyes twinkled up at Jasper in nothing but adoration. “You are… absolutely gorgeous.” She had repeated as a smile spread across her face, the sight causing Jasper to stiffen. Swallowing the lump she suddenly felt in her throat the Quartz soldier let her eyes cast a small glance to the side. Unlike her equally mesmerized counterpart Jasper was aware of the pairs of eyes that were still trained on them. The confused and shocked pairs of eyes to be exact. Knowing that they were being watched should have made Jasper go back to her usually gruff behavior, but when her amber eyes met her (f/c) colored ones again she simply couldn’t. This woman… this new Gem… she was making her weak. She made her feel so weirdly warm inside and yet, she found herself not minding it at all. Especially not when she kept drowning her in praise and compliments.
“I have never seen a Jasper more perfect than you… I feel honored that it was you that freed me from that imprisoned state I was in.” The smaller Gem verbalized her adoration and gratefulness in a way that only caused Jasper’s skin to grow darker, hotter. She was looking up at her as if she was a Diamond… Geez, what an extraordinary feeling. Gulping lightly Jasper was about to exchange her first words with the new Gem when their moment was interrupted.
Jasper had to remind herself to get her revenge for that. How insanely rude.
“Uh, welcome to earth!” Steven spoke up after he cleared his throat. He could feel a cold sweat running down his back thanks to the glare Jasper directed at him. Trust him, he was all for romantic and Jasper finding new, healthy connections, but he couldn’t let the two of them just disappear into their own little world. Not yet anyways. “I’m Steven, these are Garnet and Pearl, and as you already know this is-“ “Jasper.” The tall woman finished the male’s introduction for him, her rough, deep, yet feminine voice sending a pleasant chill up the smaller Gem’s spine.
Simply standing in front of this magnificent soldier was a thrill she had previously never known, but she thanked her Diamond that she was allowed to witness this moment. The (f/c) colored Gem was aware that the other female’s outer appearance was far from perfect; there were obvious, teal-colored specks adoring her skin from a previous corruption, her head sprouting two small horns from which one was sliced in half. Her pants were slightly ripped at her knees as well and yet she would stand by her statement. Jasper was perfect.
“Even your voice is astounding…” The smaller Gem sighed out as she continued to ignore the presence of the others. Jasper didn’t mind that at all. The Quartz soldier loved having all of his positive attention to herself. However, the Crystal Gems didn’t like it too much. Not because they didn’t want Jasper to get positive attention, but simply because this new Gem was being rather rude towards them. “Would you mind telling us who you are?” The newcomer heard the voice of Pearl ring in her ears, successfully ripping her attention away from Jasper.
The smile she bore on her face disappeared almost instantly. There was no excitement, adoration or… actually Jasper didn’t know the last emotion she was able to see in the other’s eyes. Whatever it was, was gone alongside the other emotions though. A polite, obviously practiced smile, replaced the previous one and Jasper watched as the tinier Gem bowed to the others.
“My apologies, I missed the proper time to introduce myself. I hope you know that was by no means my intention.” She sounded as formal as a Pearl. How odd. A gem similar to an Opal and the speaking pattern of a Pearl… This Gem was getting more and more interesting.
“I’m a Moonstone. It’s my pleasure to meet you all.” The Gem finally introduced herself to the group in front of her, although her eyes were fixed on the Jasper next to her when she spoke that last sentence. “Well then, welcome to earth Moonstone! I’m sure you’re-“ “Please refrain from calling me that.”
Oh?
Confused by what was happening Steven turned to look at both, Garnet and Pearl, before turning his attention back to Moonstone. “But… didn’t you say your name is Moonstone?” That earned him a shake of her head as well as a scowl. “I said I’m a Moonstone. I never said my name is Moonstone nor that I wish to be addressed as such.” The female presenting Gem informed Steven of the misunderstanding between the two of them.
“I may have gotten poofed and trapped, but I am well aware of the earthly custom of ‘names’.” Moonstone added on, the same polite smile on her face. Somehow Steven felt as if she didn’t like them too much. Her polite expression was so different from the genuine happiness she showed towards Jasper. “So… you have a name?” Pearl questioned gingerly, Garnet and her looking at each other when the new Gem nodded her head. This… was certainly a first. So far none of the others were ever interested in getting themselves a name. All of them were happily being referred to as their kind of Gem and didn’t seem to want to change that. While Pearl and Steven were a bit confused about Moonstone’s behavior, Garnet tried to see the bright side of it.
Moonstone having decided to take on the custom of a human name showed that, not only has she been here for a while, but she seems to have gotten into contact with humans too. And not only that but she seems to like the earthly customs as well as humans. After all there wouldn’t be another reason as to why she had adapted to earth this much, right? So, Garnet was taking this as a win. “Intriguing. What’s your name then?” The fusion questioned the female presenting gem who started beaming at the two gems in joy. “I picked the name (Y/N) to be my own. Please use it when you refer to me.” Moon- uh, (Y/N) requested from the group, before she happily turned her attention back to Jasper.
The muscular female had silently listened to the back and forth between the Crystal Gems and (Y/N), her mind racing with new questions despite feeling calmer than ever before. The fact that Moon- (Y/N) apparently had been here for a while made Jasper wonder if she was as well-adjusted as the other Gems. Maybe even better? After all she had picked a human name for herself… Was that a requirement for adapting? To pick a human name for yourself? But Jasper liked being referred to by her Gem name… However, these thoughts were less important. What really bothered her was that she felt alone again. (Y/N) seemed as if she would easily adjust to everything that was going on in Little Homeworld, which would leave her as the sole Gem who didn’t know how to figure things out again. The depression that was slowly creeping back inside her head was blocked by the sweet voice of the Moonstone in front of her.
“An impeccable Jasper like you being here must mean we won against the rebellion, right?”
While Jasper was overjoyed to receive more compliments from the beauty in front of her, this specific one made her grimace. So (Y/N) got here during Era 2, alright… that meant they would have to tell her all about the changes and the new Era 3. “Well… sort of?” Steven piped up again, unsure of where to begin. Not that he had an actual chance to. Immediately after getting confirmation of Homeworld’s “victory”, the newly reformed Gem was bouncing in joy. “Splendid!” She exclaimed with a bright smile across her face. If this wasn’t such a big misunderstanding it certainly would have been a cute sight.
Although it was a cute sight to Jasper regardless of the situation.
“Oh, I feel horrible for leaving my fellow Gems to fight alone, but I already can’t wait to go back to Homeworld!” (Y/N) sighed out longingly before a happy giggle left her lips. Excitedly she bounced closer to Jasper, grabbing onto one of her muscular arms to hug it as if Jasper was an old friend of hers. It left the other Gems in shock – no one dared to intrude on her personal space – while Jasper felt herself unable to move. The warmth that was now enveloping her arm was a lovely sensation, (Y/N)’s skin soft to the touch despite both of the being Gems. Perhaps it was because the surface of her gem was smooth? “I’m sure our Diamonds are going to be delighted! No more pesty Crystal Gems to stand in our way~!” …Yeah, it was about time that someone cleared things up now.
Clearing his throat Steven made sure that, neither Garnet nor Pearl, would go off at the new Gem. “Be nice. She’s been gone for so long; she doesn’t know what went down.” Jasper watched as (Y/N) grimaced at Steven’s words. Did she dislike the way they were whispering? If so she couldn’t blame her. It did look awfully suspicious even to her and she knew what was going on. The little family simply didn’t want to spook her any further than they already did.
What? She doesn’t seem spooked to you? Well, she sure looked like it to Jasper. She was still clinging to her arm as if the two of them were old friends (which, no, they weren’t) and Jasper had her suspicions as to why. Her guess was that the presence of the large Quartz Solider gave (Y/N) a sense of comfort, much like her presence was to the bigger Gem. However, she was uncertain why that was a thing. Jasper also had no proof for her theory, yet it seemed the most reasonable, given the situation they were in.
Feeling the smaller Gem’s grip tighten around her arm Jasper’s focus was back on her, amber eyes taking in the small frown on (Y/N)’s face as her brows furrowed. The more the group whispered among each other, about how to best tell Moonstone what transpired during the last eons, the deeper her frown got. Is she getting scared? Without a second thought Jasper cleared her throat at the others. She wasn’t sure what made her speak up now of all times, when she has been rather quiet this whole time, but she somehow felt as if it was her duty to speak up on the small Moonstone’s behalf. “How about you just tell her? Your whole whispering is seriously annoying.” Jasper growled at the group, who finally turned back to them, seven eyes taking in the scene in front of them.
Jasper – rough and gruff “don’t get close to me” Jasper – had the visibly smaller (Y/N) clinging to her arm. For comfort? Out of habit? Who knew? Not them, but they would love to know the reason. The way the duo stood next to each other made them look like… a couple. With (Y/N) standing slightly behind the larger Gem and Jasper almost protectively in front of her.
It gave Garnet an idea.
Before Steven or Pearl could deny Jasper’s request, Garnet agreed with the Ultimate Quartz. “We should tell her. She has the right to know. Aside from that…” The fusion’s voice slowly grew quieter and quieter as she explained her plan to the other two. It appeared that this would take a while and seeing (Y/N) getting uneasy again quickly became something Jasper didn’t like at all. She’d love to help her somehow, but… well, she wasn’t exactly the most sociable Gem out there, you know?
Should I say something? Maybe I should tell her everything about what happened to Pink Diamond and what this new Era is all about… Ugh, that sounds bothersome though. I’d probably get too aggravated and get carried away as well. And she sucked at small talk. This was another thing she hated about this new Era; she needed actual social skills. Everyone could talk to everyone about everything. No more talks between Jaspers about silly Pearls and being eager to fight. This new age really wasn’t for her.
“-earth, too?” “Huh?” Snapping back to reality Jasper’s eyes stared down into (Y/N)’s. She had asked her something… fuck, why hasn’t she been listening? “I asked if you were made on earth, too.” She repeated her question for her, only receiving a curt nod from the large Gem. When her word’s finally sunk in Jasper got more talkative, though. “Too? You were made here as well?” Happily (Y/N) nodded her head before speaking again. “I was one of the few Moonstones that emerged from the Kindergarten. The Diamonds never saw something like us before, but they put us to good use after an evaluation in Homeworld.” She hummed as her finger mindlessly traced the outlines of one of Jasper’s stripes. “Apparently we Moonstones are rare. We can only grow here on earth, at least that’s what my Diamond told us back then.” Her Diamond. Did she belong to Pink as well? “Which Diamond did you belong to?” There was a small pause as (Y/N) pondered Jasper’s question. Her brows were furrowed as she stared up at the taller Gem in a mixture of confusion and suspicion. Jasper felt the grip she had on her arm loosening lightly, the peace and calmness slipping away from her just like the warmth (Y/N)’s been providing her with.
“What do you mean with that?” The (f/c) haired Gem questioned in a hushed voice. If she wouldn’t look this eerily calm Jasper could swear that she was glaring at her. “Don’t you mean ‘Which Diamond do I belong to’?” Oh. Right. (Y/N) was still unaware of all the changes and the Diamonds no longer ruling over anything. She was definitely glaring at her now. “Jasper… what game are you playing with them?”
Something felt off. There was a pressure inside her head, the same pain rushing through her body as when she got poofed at the Beta Kindergarten. Where was it coming from? Was it…? No, it couldn’t be because of her. (Y/N) had brought her nothing but comfort and peace of mind thus far. She looked so fragile compared to Jasper’s bulky build and emitted such an innocent joy only seconds ago. There was no way this unbearable sensation was her doing.
“(Y/N).”
It disappeared. Just as quickly as it came the pressure left again. It made Jasper’s shoulders slump lightly as she glanced at Garnet. She hadn’t realized how tense her body got until now. “There are… a lot of things we need to talk about.” The fusion started and gestured to a chair. However, the Moonstone’s eyes narrowed at her, her grip on Jasper’s arm tightening once more. She was wary of them all, Jasper included, but the latter didn’t make her as suspicious. A Pearl without an owner, a Sapphire and Ruby fused together and a meatball… Naturally (Y/N) would be wary of this group. It was everything Homeworld taught her, taught them, to be unnatural.
The (f/c) eyed Gem scoffed at the fusion and pulled Jasper closer to her small frame. “I have nothing to talk about with a fusion like yourself.” She spat with a venom-laced voice as the same narrow-minded way of thinking as everyone else used to have came to light. “Oooh, boy.” Steven whispered in a hushed tone, stepping in front of Garnet to try and calm the unique Gem down, only to get shot down immediately. “I don’t have anything to talk with a meatball either.” “Alright, now listen here-“ “Steven, don’t.”
This was just great. How were they supposed to make her understand anything of what happened while she was out, when she wasn’t even going to listen to any of them? (Y/N) even ignored Pearl’s attempts to explain things! If only there was someone we knew she gets along with… Wait.
Steven took a long look at the Moonstone in front of him again. Her arms were still holding onto Jasper’s despite her glares having been directed at said Gem only moments prior. She doubted them and their intentions, but… for some reason she didn’t doubt Jasper’s… as much. Why though? She’s been with us from the start, so I’m sure she has to know that Jasper is with us. There had to be a reason for her behavior, no matter how strange it may be. “Steven.” “Garnet?” “Do you remember what she said after she saw Jasper?” After she saw Jasper? How was he supposed to recall that? Things went up and down with this Gem ever since she reformed, he didn’t have time to take notes. Hell, he didn’t know he was supposed to take notes. “She called her gorgeous, didn’t she?” Pearl noted, faintly recalling the moment while Steven wrecked his brain for any other answer.
Then it hit him. “Honored. (Y/N) said she felt honored that someone like Jasper freed her.” That was it. The reason why she didn’t have any bigger suspicion against Jasper and clung to her as if she was her lifeline.
“Since she doesn’t know what happened during the last eons she still ‘lives’ in the world where you all have a caste system. Jasper must be in a higher caste than her, she knows that Jasper has a higher status and is honored she saved her because (Y/N) admires her!” Slowly the pieces were falling into place to them. Now that the picture was getting clearer they could come up with a plan, too! They could use her admiration for Jasper to their advantage until she was willing to hear them out! “Jasper!” A grunt was all Pearl received from her former enemy, her cyan eyes rolling in slight annoyance at the other’s missing manners. “Why don’t you tell Moon-“ An icy glare was thrown her way. “I mean, (Y/N), about the changes… our Diamonds established?” Ugh, you could hear the cringe in Pearl’s voice when she said this.
“Me?” Jasper echoed incredulously. “Why would I have to-“ A tug on her clothes stripped her attention away from the group and back to the small gem by her side. “There were changes established by our Diamonds? Oh, please, do tell me all about them!” (Y/N) beseeched her, eyes wide with curiosity and sparkling with something that caused Jasper’s face to flush yet again. “A reliable Jasper such as yourself is surely able to explain everything to me! Unlike…” Jasper followed (Y/N)’s eyes as they wandered back to Steven’s family, the same bright eyes now harboring a feeling the beige haired woman knew too well.
I get it. Guess there’s no choice. With a sigh Jasper nodded at (Y/N) once her attention was back on her. With her free hand she gestured the Moonstone to sit down, which she did immediately. Heh, so obedient. She could get used to having a subordinate again. “Listen up then, shorty, because I won’t repeat anything, and I won’t let you ask questions. Either you get it, or you don’t.” A pleased smirk adorned Jasper’s face when (Y/N) nodded her head in agreement, the small Gem’s posture straightening lightly. “Good girl.” Jasper praised her, the smirk on her face only widening when she observed her (f/c) skin darken the slightest bit.
Yeah. She could definitely get used to this.
Slowly but surely the sun started setting over Little Homeworld. Gems were on their way back home from work or meeting up with their friends now that they were done for the day. It took them a long time (due to Jasper going off track and instead talking about fights she won) but eventually they had told (Y/N) everything that had transpired while she was trapped inside the necklace. By the expression on her face it was obvious that all of this was a lot to take in.
“This… is a lot.” See? Told ya it was a lot. “We know and we’re sorry that none of your former friends could tell you about these things.” Steven muttered to the, now gloomy, Moonstone in an attempt for comfort. “Jasper said she won’t let you ask questions, but if anything’s unclear or you need help, just come to us.” Pearl told the (f/c) haired woman with a confident smile on her face. Garnet and Steven joined in; they all assured (Y/N) that they were there for her and would help her build a new life here on earth if she wanted to. They would find her a place to stay until Bismuth build her a home of her own, they’d introduce her to all kinds of Gems going through the same and so on.
Ridiculous. Swiftly the (f/c) woman stood up, gingerly brushing off her sheer skirt, before she walked back towards Jasper. “I appreciate the history lesson and your hospitality, but all of this is… too much to process.” (Y/N) told them truthfully and Jasper noticed her (f/c) eyes were looking more dulled than a couple hours ago. She almost looked tired. Much like before the smaller Gem’s arms snaked around Jasper’s muscular one, the frame of the Moonstone pressing against the soldier’s in a soft embrace. “I’d prefer it if I could get some alone time for now. If you show me a place where I can stay that would be more than enough.”
“How about you stay with Jasper?” Wait, what? “Wait, what?” Yeah, that’s what I just said. “Why do you want her to stay with me? Isn’t there anyone else who’s better at this… interaction stuff?” Oh, there most definitely was. The problem Jasper didn’t seem to see was that (Y/N) was so fixated on her, that everyone else was out of the question. Jasper wasn’t their best option when it came this – she was their only option.
At least for now.
“Why not? You two seem to be getting along great!” Jasper looked down at the precious stone that stood next to her. She was only now realizing that she had allowed this jewel to invade her personal space this whole time. Not only that but she even let others see it. Shit. Was it too late to push (Y/N) away from her? From the way her grip tightened on her arm you’d think so. “I certainly wouldn’t mind sharing quarters with Jasper for some time~” She hummed contently, which sealed the deal for Steven and the others. “Great! Then, as of now, you two are roomies!” Steven concluded with a satisfied smile, relieved that things went well in the end. “Jasper, why not go ahead and show (Y/N) where she’ll be staying with you? Maybe give her a tour around Little Homeworld?” Right now she would rather do anything else.
Showing a rather well-adjusted Gem around this new place she had no true knowledge of? Sounded like a disaster waiting to happen. Nevertheless Jasper wouldn’t simply say ‘no’ to her Diamond. Especially not if it would score her more time with the, admittedly, absolutely adorable delight of a Gem that was clinging to her side.
Without saluting her Diamond, due to her arm being occupied, Jasper agreed to show (Y/N) around the little Gem-Town. The two of them stepped out of the building they have been in previously, the setting sun painting the evening sky in a lovely display of oranges, reds, pinks, and yellows. “Have fun you two!” Garnet called after them, waving after the couple, while Pearl and Steven watched them leave with worried expressions. “Are you certain this is a good idea Garnet?” The ivory Gem questioned her friend as she watched the two leave. “With the way Jasper is still clinging to Steven as ‘her Diamond’ I fear they won’t be good for each other.” She added on, the young boy the two of them helped raising nodding along. “I’m not a big fan of this either…” He muttered, Pearl and him flinching when Garnet slapped their backs in encouragement. “Trust me guys, these two were made for each other.”
The smaller two exchanged an uneasy glance but decided to trust their leader. She did have future vision after all. They guessed she saw something happening between these two that no one else would ever see coming.
In the meanwhile Jasper was showing (Y/N) everything she knew about Little Homeworld, Peridot’s horticulture classes, Lapis’ sculpturing classes, Bismuth’s forgery, those things. She even tried to explain her “sisters” G.H.E.M. program to the younger? Gem as well. During every explanation the Moonstone had been listening attentively, giving a hum in understanding on occasion, those brightly shining (f/c) eyes of hers never leaving Jasper’s form.
It was weird to say the least. Having this much positive attention directed at her made the large Gem antsy. Not because it was something she didn’t know – she was used to being admired – but something about (Y/N)’s way of looking at her was… different. Good, but different. Then there was her having to explain things she didn’t completely grasp herself yet either. It made her feel stupid, in a way, yet having the little cutie on her arm soak everything she was saying in like a sponge made her feel as if she was the most intelligent Gem.
Truthfully speaking the way (Y/N) was making her feel right now felt similar to when she was fused with Lapis. It made her feel powerful in a way she never knew existed. Yet, this was vastly different from the feeling back then, too. She didn’t feel addicted to the power, didn’t feel a need to fuse with her or anything alike. No, Jasper simply enjoyed her presence; the feeling of her skin on her own, having her warmth spread through her body as they talked along with the same extraordinary peace only (Y/N) could provide her with. Secretly she was thankful the little Gem was going to stay with her for now. There was something about her… something Jasper wanted to protect.
She just wasn’t entirely sure what that something was.
Stopping in the middle of the courtyard Jasper and (Y/N) sat down on a bench. They were done with the tour and Jasper wanted nothing more but to go home. She still had to show her ‘roomie’, as Steven called her, her new home after all. However, as previously mentioned Jasper had always completed her Diamond’s orders to a T. Naturally she would only go home with (Y/N) once the small bean had all her questions answered and seen everything there was to see. “That’s it.” Jasper concluded with a huff, scowling at some Nephrites that were staring weirdly at the couple. “Welcome to Little Homeworld.” She added on after scaring the green Gems away.
Upon receiving another hum of acknowledgement Jasper turned her eyes down to (Y/N). She was leaning her head on her biceps, her cheek pressing against her skin, and an adorable pout on her lips. Feeling her cheeks flush upon the sight Jasper quickly looked off to the side, trying her hardest to ignore the fluttery feeling inside her chest. This was no good. Was she getting weak? Was her corruption back? Something wasn’t right. She should be uneasy, crushing the source of the problem while she has the chance, yet Jasper didn’t mind that funny feeling.
The two Gems sat in silence until the (f/c) colored one spoke up. “I don’t like this.” Her voice was a mere whisper, the grip on Jasper’s arm tightening, as she took their surroundings in. “Little Homeworld? Yeah, it’s corny, but you get used to it.” Jasper grumbled out, her eyes watching Ocean Jasper interact with some Rubys. (Y/N) would get used to this kind of life just as quickly as the others. After all she had already started adapting to earth’s lifestyle eons ago, right?
“I don’t mean Little Homeworld…” She muttered a bit louder, the tone of her voice changing from meek and careful to a mixture of annoyance and confusion. Raising a brow at her roomie’s statement Jasper let out a groan, urging her on to continue. “I mean… I mean all of this!” (f/c) hair moved with the sudden breeze when (Y/N) stood up, leaving Jasper craving the warmth around her arm, her hands motioning to the homes around them.
“This is… it’s just wrong. This isn’t how things are supposed to be! This isn’t how we are supposed to be!” The earth gem exclaimed and either ignored the stares she was getting or simply didn’t notice them. “Fusions of different Gems walking around as they please, everyone doing whatever they want instead of what they were quite literally made to do, no Diamonds to guide us, no more Kindergartens or colonies, I-“ Calmly Jasper watched as the Moonstone turned back around to face her, her hands clenched into fists by her side and a frown gracing her elegant features. Her shoulders shook lightly before they slumped. (Y/N) wrapped her arms around her waist, grabbing onto her sheer skirt with one of her hands. “I don’t understand…” She muttered quietly, taking a moment to gather her thoughts before looking straight into Jasper’s eyes.
The larger Gem felt the same tingling feeling from before. Those eyes of hers… those striking (f/c) colored eyes did things to her.
“Why is everything changing?” (Y/N) inquired, voice shaking. “How is everyone okay with this? This isn’t how things are supposed to be… It’s unnatural. I don’t like this.” She repeated the last part one more time, frustration visible on her face. A nasty feeling was spreading through Jasper’s body. She’s upset. Obviously. But why did she feel herself caring about that? Why were her fingers twitching, aching, to grab her wrist and pull her back towards her? Why were her legs jerking ever so slightly, ready to jump up and run to the smaller Gem? Her brain didn’t even know what it would do after she would get to her feet.
What was going on with her?
“I hate this.” (Y/N) spat, her eyes drilling into Jasper’s. “How… How are you okay with this? How did you get used to this?” Her body stayed unmoving. Her head was urging Jasper on to go to her, to console her somehow, in any way she could. Yet she couldn’t. Her body wouldn’t let her. What was this Gem doing to her? With her voice and her eyes… Those gorgeous eyes that were filled with so many emotions she knew all too well.
Confusion, anger, frustration, insecurity, self-loathing…
It was then that Jasper remembered what Steven told her weeks ago. Half those gems are soldiers who fought by your side before they got corrupted and turned into monsters. They’re lost and confused and still a little messed up... That was what he said to her back then. She didn’t see it back then. Fuck, she didn’t even see it now. Everyone around her was getting a kick out of these changes, so far only SHE had been struggling with these things. But now there was someone else. Someone who openly showed what had been running through her mind this entire time.
How much she hated change.
She wasn’t alone anymore with her feelings. Right in front of her was someone just as lost and confused and scared as she was. Are you going to sit here for centuries, waiting for someone to give you a purpose? Because I’m trying to give you one! Originally she joined Little Homeworld for her Diamond, to protect and serve him. However, she was aware there was no real need for her to serve him. He even told her to find something better to do. Maybe this was it? That ‘better thing’?
With a shrug of her shoulders Jasper let (Y/N) in on something no one else knew. “I didn’t.” She admitted, propping her upper body on her legs as she stared back into the (f/c) she couldn’t seem to get enough of. “You… you didn’t?” She heard (Y/N)’s voice echo and she watched as the Gem’s body relaxed. “No. I thought this whole thing was dumb. Still kinda do.” Jasper snorted. “I was made to fight. Peaceful times aren’t for soldiers like me.” The Quartz declared proudly, taking the little giggle that escaped (Y/N) as a win. “I came here to serve my Diamond. That’s my sole purpose and I don’t intent on finding a new one.” She added on, her eyes following the Moonstone’s movements when she came back to their bench, taking her rightful place beside Jasper once more.
Rightful place? What an odd way to put it.
Leaning back against the backrest Jasper subtly held her arm out for the Gem, subconsciously expecting and awaiting her to take a hold of it once more. “Then what are you doing here?” (Y/N) inquired, her arms snaking around Jasper’s arm, her fingers starting to stroke her skin. “It didn’t look like Pi- Steven wants to play the role of a Diamond.” Good to see that she was struggling with calling him by his name. Another thing some of the Gems and her had in common. Heh, maybe she wasn’t as well adjusted as Jasper thought.
Shrugging her shoulders yet again Jasper looked at all the other Gems walking around. Amethysts were laughing together with Jaspers, a Nephrite was fusing with a Ruby and then there were some lost looking Emeralds, Quartzes, and Pearls. They were being greeted by her sister, enthusiastically, following her doubtfully. “Helping Gems like you.” Her answer surprised Jasper herself. From all the things her brain could have come up with… it chose this? Ridiculous. Jasper had never helped anyone but herself. So why in the world? “You wish to help me?” Too cute. That little Moonstone was too cute for her own good.
A scoff escaped Jasper, the small sound soon turning into a booming laugh, the semi-transparent Gem beside her watching in awe. “Put it however you like, shorty.” Her muscular arm freed itself easily from (Y/N)’s hold and instead placed itself around her shoulders. Swiftly the Gem got pulled towards her, the darkening of her cheeks not going unnoticed by Jasper. “Fact is we’re in the same boat and unlike those twerps,” Following the way Jasper’s finger was pointing at (Y/N) was met by sight of the various Gems just going about their new life. “Being next to you isn’t unbearable. And since we’re-“ “Roomies?” “Yeah, that. Since we’re ‘roomies’ we might as well help each other get used to this hot mess.”
A comfortable silence settled between the two Gems; the wide grin of Jasper others saw as manic only making (Y/N)’s non-existent heart flutter. A pleased smile took over the features of the (f/c) Gem. “I’d like that. A lot.” Chuckling at the agreement of the smaller Gem Jasper felt herself relax beside her. Maybe staying in Little Homeworld was going to be so bad with (Y/N) by her side.
It was then that Jasper felt a weight on her shoulder and something tickling her neck: (Y/N)’s head. Her (f/c) hair was brushing against her skin, giving the taller Gem goosebumps. “With a Jasper like you by my side I feel much safer.” The female presenting Gem admitted out loud, another giggle that followed making Jasper feel as though her inside were melting. Though she made sure to not show it. “Flattery will get you nowhere.” Laughing lightly at this (Y/N) only snuggled closer, a smug smile on her face when she felt Jasper’s body growing warmer. She chose to not comment on it for now. “It’s not flattery if it’s the truth. Having someone as strong as you with me makes all of this a little less scary.”
Interestingly enough Jasper could say the same about the feldspar. She wouldn’t, not aloud, but she could. “Don’t worry.” The red-striped Jasper huffed confidently. All these compliments and (Y/N) feeling safe with her really boosted her ego. “I got this.” Jasper definitely got used to this already.
“Told you.” Garnet told Pearl and Steven as they stared at the scene in front of them in disbelief. The fusion had led them here to ease their minds but seeing this only managed to make them race even faster than before. “How in the…?” Pearl didn’t know what to say. Meanwhile Steven stood there pleasantly surprised. “This is incredible! Jasper and (Y/N) are really getting along!” Reaching up the young teen ran a hand through his fluffy hair. Seeing this play out was the best thing that happened in weeks! With Jasper at least. “Now she might actually make progress! Garnet, I am so sorry for ever doubting you.” “You’re forgiven. Let’s go home.”
With that the group left Little Homeworld for the day. Tomorrow was another day for more teaching, and they all deserved a proper rest. And they weren’t the only ones. All Gems had an exhausting day behind them and all of them were looking forward to some time for themselves or with friends. “Let’s get going, squirt.” Jasper spoke up, pulling her arm away from (Y/N)’s shoulders before she stood up. “It’s about time we go to my place. We still have to get you settled in.” Holding out a hand for the other woman to take Jasper helped her get onto her feet. A sweet ‘thank you’ came from the Moonstone’s lips as she brushed her skirt off. Despite having gotten to her feet (Y/N) made no move to pull her hand out of Jasper’s grasp.
Quite the opposite actually. Jasper could feel her hand gently enclosing hers as she looked up at her expectingly. “Lead the way. Where you go, I follow.” (Y/N) beamed up at her chaperone, the smile on her face almost blinding. Speechless at her words Jasper only responded with a gruff grunt. As they started walking down the streets hand in hand, the large soldier felt the by now oh-so familiar feeling of a blush creeping upon her face, the endearing sonority of (Y/N)’s giggling causing it to deepen further.
Their way ‘home’ was mostly quiet, safe for the few questions (Y/N) asked. Usually those were followed by an ‘I told you to not ask questions’ by Jasper only for her to give the Moonstone the answer she wanted anyway. Mostly because she was asking the soldier about all her accomplishments, further stroking the taller one’s ego.
“Here we are.” Jasper declared as she opened the door to her house. Stepping aside she waited for (Y/N) to enter first, the smaller Gem quickly understanding the gesture. “My, what a gentlewoman you are.” Another flush of her cheeks was visible on Jasper’s face causing (Y/N) to chuckle lightly. “Thank you, Jasper, I appreciate the gesture.” She hummed, a flirtatious smile on her lips as she entered the Gem’s home, her fingers gently grazing the soldier’s bicep. Almost immediately Jasper cleared her throat, a cough daring to escape, before she followed after the smaller Gem.
How she was able to make her lose her composure like this was beyond her. Still, even that was weirdly nothing unpleasant.
“It’s not much and I don’t have any spare beds. If you want to sleep we’ll have to share one.” Jasper informed (Y/N) immediately after entering her abode. She watched in amusement as the feldspar took everything in – some with curiosity, some with caution. “Sleep? What’s that?” Why was she looking underneath the couch? You know what? Nevermind. These things were new to her, it was a given that she would inspect everything. “Something humans do.” Jasper huffed, still watching (Y/N) rush from one thing to another. “They’re so fragile that they need rest to work.” “Really? How pathetic!” She laughed lightly as Jasper chuckled in agreement. The large Gem sat down on her bed as the other scurried around in her unadulterated curiosity. Despite rarely needing it having this bed was definitely a nice luxury. “I know. They spend a third of their day doing it.” The Quartz added with a booming laugh, the sound growing in volume at (Y/N)’s shocked face.
“What an absolute waste of time!” “Right?” “There’s so much to do and they sleep?” “Of course they do, they’re weak.” A grin split across her face. “Unlike us.” The grin widened as (Y/N) nodded her head in agreement, the pleasant warmth spreading through Jasper’s body. Was this how it felt like when you felt comfortable? Like you belonged somewhere? How nice. Finally she had someone who was like her despite being so unlike herself.
“Did you ever try it, though?” (Y/N) questioned as she plopped down on the bed next to Jasper. It appeared she was done exploring the house, although her curiosity quickly peaked once more thanks to the bed’s bounciness. Immediately the Gem flopped down on the soft surface, stretching her limps away from her. “Oh, this is amazing~ Is this the ‘bed’ you were talking about?” A nod from the taller Gem answered her question and she had to admit that this invention wasn’t all bad. “It’s so comfortable. I almost don’t want to stand up again…” That earned her a chuckle from the Ultimate Quartz as she laid down next to her. “That’s how these things get you. They tricked me with their comfort before as well.” A shocked gasp echoed through the room. “So you did try sleeping!” (Y/N) exclaimed as if it was the biggest scandal though it was obvious by her tone that she was joking and more curious than anything else.
“Without consent, yeah.” Jasper admitted with another chuckle, her body turning to the side to get a better look at the Gem that was splayed out on her bed. What a beautiful display she was… “How do you do it?” “Sleeping?” “Yeah. How does it work? You can teach me, right?” She hesitated for a moment. Teaching (Y/N) how to sleep was easy. The process of it wasn’t hard at all (which was why she laughed in humans’ faces whenever they had trouble sleeping) and there was nothing else to do for the day. After giving it some consideration the red striped Gem nodded her head. “Sure, if that’s what you want, shorty.”
(Y/N) watched with curious eyes as Jasper stood up and walked towards a fluffy blanket. The soldier picked it up, came back with it, and covered her in the soft cloth. Once she did she crawled back into bed to the shorter Gem. “Get comfy and close your eyes.” Jasper instructed her, feeling the slightest bit disappointed when (Y/N) listened to her and she wasn’t able to see those hypnotizing eyes of hers anymore. However, she was rewarded with the sight of a peaceful (Y/N) laying right next to her. “What now?” The shorter Gem whispered as Jasper got comfortable beside her, ready to try and sleep again as well. If her newest companion was going to be out like a light there was no real point in staying awake. She had already trained enough today anyway. “We wait until we lose consciousness.” A confused groan next to her caused the amber eyed woman to chuckle. “That sounds ridiculous.” “It’s how it works. Don’t forget you asked me to teach you this.”
After this silence befell the two women, the only sound in the house being the soft rustling of the sheets whenever one of them dared to move.
“Jasper?” No response. “Jasper, are you asleep?” Again, no response. Sighing at this (Y/N) rolled onto her side so she could stare at the Quartz soldier. “You actually fell asleep…” She muttered to herself as she reached up to brush a strand of beige hair out of Jasper’s face. A soft smile spread across her face as she watched the unconscious Gem beside her. She really was beautiful. Her cut was perfect, her form was perfect, and she didn’t doubt that her martial art skills were perfect as well. Jasper was absolutely perfect. “Oh Jasper… How gorgeous you are~” (Y/N) cooed lovingly, her hand sweetly stroking the other woman’s cheek in her slumber. The (f/c) colored Gem truly was lucky. Lucky and honored that someone like Jasper came to free her from that necklace.
Slowly her fingers traced her skin down to her shoulders and arms, her hand resting on the corrupted, teal colored, spot that covered Jasper’s otherwise beautiful tangerine skin. “Don’t worry.” (Y/N) whispered softly into the darkness of the room, her hand reaching down to pull the blanket higher up and cover the object of her affection in it. “I won’t let this planet corrupt you again.” She muttered out, obvious distaste for earth laced her voice. Carefully the Moonstone slipped out of the comfortable bed to walk to a window that was close by. The full moon stood high at the night sky, stars shining in the distance, waves glistening in their light. It made her smile lightly to herself. What a beauty this planet held...
“Now… Where to start with the rejuvenation?”
Chapter 2: A good night's rest
Summary:
Some late night thoughts and late night fluff.
Chapter Text
The full moon stood high in the night sky as (Y/N) observed the nearby sea crashing into the shore. Whoever built Jasper’s home truly had a feeling for atmosphere. The large panorama window gave the Moonstone an excellent view of the ocean, the sight of the moon reflecting on the waves soothing her. The precious stone heard the blanket shuffling behind her as Jasper moved about in bed. She glanced over her shoulder, ensuring her host was still sound asleep before turning to look back outside the window. “A lovely sight…” The (f/c) haired female whispered to herself with a smile. Dolefully she took a seat on the Windowsill as her mind wandered back to everything she learnt today.
The ”shattering” of Pink Diamond, Rose’s rebellion with the Crystal Gems, how all of it came to be… Heh. Hilarious. These Gems really thought she didn’t know a thing, didn’t they? Ah, but why would they assume that she knew anything? They didn’t even know what kind of Gem she was. She doubted anyone would know what Gem she was if she wouldn’t tell them. All thanks to her.
The mere memory of her made the woman’s blood boil.
Everything she went through, everything her kind went through, happened because of that Diamond. All the Gems that got shattered, all the tears she cried as she mourned her former friends and all the years she spent by herself, miserable and alone, it all led back to her. It was all her fault. And now she was supposed to belief that she had changed? That she completely abandoned her old ways, threw all the rules away for this? Little Homeworld… what a bad joke that was. To have all kinds of Gems run around the way they wanted, not going about their work but their “passions”. (Y/N) couldn’t accept that.
“I know the old you is still in there, my Diamond.” She hissed out, making up her mind then and there. She would get her revenge for everything that happened so long ago. “I’ll make sure everyone knows what you did to us.” She was going to take everything from her. Her friends, her “family” – she was going to rob her of everything she loved. And I’ll start with this little ‘project’ of yours. A feeling of satisfaction overcame (Y/N) as she thought about her plan.
I’m going to enjoy this.
Another rustling behind her caused the Moonstone to turn back around. In the safety of the darkness she watched as Jasper awoke from her slumber, a sweet smile splitting across the Gem’s face. The wild mane that was her hair looked even more disheveled than before and her eyes were still closed, yet it was apparent that Jasper was awake. “Did you enjoy the time your consciousness was subdued?” (Y/N) inquired softly, her legs carrying her back towards the bed until she stood right in front of it. “You got a weird way of speaking, girly.” Jasper’s voice echoed through the room, still hoarse from just waking up.
Her comment only caused the Moonstone to giggle. “I suppose I do. It is an… old habit, so to speak. I’m trying my hardest to get rid of it.” (Y/N) told the Quartz Soldier, who finally managed to open her eyes and look at her again, her amber eyes widening the slightest bit at the sight in front of her.
The shorter Gem stood right in front of her, finally at eye-level with her due to Jasper sitting on her bed. Despite the darkness it gave her the chance to fully take in her roommate’s features; from her big (f/c) eyes to her (l/s) lips that had a soft (f/c) hue to them. Compared to her muscular build she looked so fragile... as if the lightest breeze could cause her to poof.
Then there was the way the moonlight was gently embracing her from behind, capturing the smallest details of her flawless skin so perfectly, shimmering through the more limpid parts of her body. (Y/N) had been gorgeous to Jasper from the start but seeing her in the moonlight made her realize just how radiant she was. Moonstone, huh? A very befitting name for such a beauty.
It was hard to rip her eyes away from the bewitching Gem.
“Jasper? Your face is turning as red as your stripes. Are you feeling alright?” This snapped the Quartz out of her trance. Suddenly she saw (Y/N) sitting on the bed in front of her, her smaller hands gently caressing her face as she stared up at her with worry written across her face. She hadn’t even noticed the other one getting closer to her, let alone her face heating up. “I’m fine!” Jasper exclaimed, hastily slapping away her hand as she backed up a bit. A quiet ‘oh’ came from the other Gem, the surprise she felt due to her companion’s outburst evident in her voice, as well as on her face. Big round (f/c) eyes blinked at the other woman, never leaving her form, as a familiar ache consumed her chest; that horrible stinging sensation, piercing right through her heart as her throat tightened. She never wanted to feel this again… this kind of rejection.
Not entirely sure what Jasper wanted her to do the Moonstone let her hand fall onto her lap, her eyes tearing themselves away from the muscular body. Instead, they focused on her own fingers as they twiddled around with her skirt. “Forgive me.” She eventually whispered, the silence between them almost suffocating. “I didn’t want to… I mean, I-“ How was she supposed to tell Jasper that she didn’t mean any harm by touching her? Somehow it felt impossible. Everything she thought of saying to the larger Gem felt wrong. “Do you… dislike having me touch you?” (Y/N) muttered softly, her eyes not needing to look up from her skirt to know that Jasper was finally looking at her again, yet she didn’t dare to raise her gaze. Not yet.
“I’ve been awfully touchy with you right from the beginning, haven’t I? I’m so sorry if I made you uncomfortable this whole time.” The younger Gem apologized yet again, unable to see the subtle shake of Jasper’s head.
She didn’t want her to apologize! After all she didn’t dislike the way she was touched. Yes, her slapping her hand away may give that impression, but that wasn’t the case! Jasper liked having the Moonstone’s hands all over her. Whether it was on her biceps, her lower arm or hand, every touch was almost therapeutic. The large Gem was simply not used to the tenderness she was showered in. Those loving touches, the adoring glances, the way her hands cradled her face so gently… It was a softness Jasper never got to experience. And as much as she craved it – yearned for (Y/N) to hold her face so gingerly – she feared it.
What would happen to her if she would let her guard down? What would the (f/c) stone be able to do to her, when she already had her wrapped around her pinky? On one hand she wanted to find out. On the other, she wanted to beat the Moonstone into the ground until she poofed and none of these questions would matter anymore.
It was all so confusing. If only she knew what to do, what to say, to verbalize her inner turmoil. However, Jasper was never a Gem of many words. Not when it came to feelings at least. So, instead of some flowery confession she scoffed rather crudely. Her face was turned to the side as she spoke, not wanting to see the hurt expression her roommate wore on her face. “Quit the apologies.” Her voice silenced the younger Gem before she could say anything else. “I hate it when people make things up.” She added with a scoff, her amber eyes finally meeting those (f/c) ones.
She could see that (Y/N) was confused about what she meant, her body still tense. Jasper didn’t know how to continue from here on. She never had to comfort someone and was certain that she sucked at it if she would attempt it. Still, she couldn’t just leave things hanging in the air like this. Otherwise the little cutie in front of her would take things the wrong way and the last thing she wanted was to be stuck in the ‘miscommunication’ trope. With a cough that made the Moonstone in front of her jump a little bit Jasper cleared her throat, lifting her hand to place it on the other’s head. As gently as she could, as to not mess up her (h/t) hair, she pet her in hopes of giving her some reassurance. “You… didn’t make me uncomfortable. With the whole touching.” She clarified verbally in case her actions weren’t speaking for themselves.
“Just stay away from my face.” Jasper added quickly. She didn’t want a repetition of this.
It took the smaller woman a bit to realize what was going on, her eyes blinking at the larger woman until a smile spread across her face. “I’m glad I didn’t make you uneasy then.” What a relief indeed. Jasper was the one she didn’t have to watch leave her behind. Not like there were any others, but still. (Y/N) had a feeling that Jasper would always hold a special place in her heart. Yes, she was gruff and maybe not the nicest from her obvious behavior, but if you looked close enough… there was a big softie inside that tough shell. “Good.” Jasper chuckled to herself at the other’s overjoyed expression, slowly retreating her hand.
However, before her hand fully left her head the Moonstone had taken a hold of her wrist. Feeling her hand get pressed back onto (Y/N)’s head she raised a brow at the other Gem, silently inquiring what she was up to. “Could you… pet me some more?” Her quiet request reached Jasper’s ears, taking her by surprise. From how quickly (Y/N) started stuttering, trying to find the right words, she guessed her expression must have reflected her inner astonishment. “Your hand feels so nice petting me like that. I haven’t been around anyone in so long…” Absentmindedly (Y/N) began to stroke the back of Jasper’s hand. “It’s so big and warm… if it’s okay I’d like to savor this feeling for a little longer.” Jasper watched as the shimmering stone closed her eyes in enjoyment, the gentle smile on her face making her face heat up.
Right now the Moonstone looked as peaceful as she made Jasper feel. It was probably her imagination, a trick of her mind, but in that moment she felt some sort of connection with the (f/c) colored Gem. For some reason it felt right to be with her like this. She just didn’t know why.
Her not knowing the reason for the fluttery feeling inside her chest wouldn’t stop her though. She wanted to keep seeing that expression on the other’s face; the tender smile, eyes closed as she was allowed to indulge in something she’s been craving for a long time, with Jasper as the cause for all of it. She wanted to see more of this. “I guess I can do this for a little longer.” The Quartz soldier eventually sighed out, her voice reluctant. The cutest giggle left the Moonstone as she saw through her act. “Thank you, Jasper. I appreci-“ Before finishing her sentence the smaller Gem found herself laying on her back, the soft mattress against her back, wide eyes staring at the ceiling. What just happened? Without being able to process her sudden movement (Y/N) felt someone – Jasper, undoubtedly – falling onto the bed beside her.
Opening her mouth she wanted to ask what was going on, why Jasper threw her onto the bed like this, but she was again interrupted by her body being moved around. Her head was placed atop Jasper’s chest, the hand of her roommate finding its previous place before the muscular woman started massaging her scalp. “I never said we were staying like that.” She spoke up before (Y/N) got the chance. “This is more comfortable.” Feeling the smaller Gem shift on her chest her amber eyes looked down to meet her gaze. “What? You wanted to do this some more, didn’t you?” (Y/N) nodded her head slightly, Jasper pushing her head down to her chest before she could utter a word right after. “Then stop interrupting. If it’s really been so long you should enjoy it as much as you can.”
A big softie at heart. Happily the (f/c) Gem snuggled closer to her cuddle buddy, deciding to take full advantage Jasper’s willingness to spoil her while she still could. “Thank you so much, I really needed this~” (Y/N) hummed contently as she melted against the tangerine skinned woman. “I owe you for this.” She added on, her arm coming to wrap around Jasper’s waist as the larger woman chuckled lightly. “Damn right you do.” She didn’t. The feeling of her laying beside her like this was more than enough for her.
Silence filled the room after this and (Y/N) realized that Jasper must have fallen asleep once more when her fingers slowly stopped combing through her (h/t) hair. With nothing else to do but think she wanted to come up with a plan for later. However, the body heat of Jasper was inviting her to stay in bed just a little longer. There was enough time to think about her revenge tomorrow. For now she wanted to enjoy the feeling of belonging somewhere again. That feeling of belonging to someone again.
I still don’t like any of this, but… Slowly her (f/c) eyes drifted shut as she simply enjoyed their shared embrace. Staying with Jasper like this sounds like a nice life. (Y/N) smiled to herself at this, moving carefully to grab the blanket and cover the two of them with it.
I’ll make sure we have it good when all of this is over.
