Chapter Text
Grumbles escape Billy once he hangs up the phone. Steve was supposed to pick the gremlins up from Hellfire tonight but apparently El’s extra tutoring is taking longer than expected so he is hanging out in the bookstore near the school. He tugs his boots on, grabbing his jacket and keys before making his way out of the hush money house Billy has grown to call home.
He pulls up to the school earlier than anticipated and he considers just waiting just waiting for them to finish and head out but knowing his luck they’d run late leaving Billy in the late spring humidity. The engine cuts off and Billy trudges his way into the school to the drama room. Voices can be heard as Billy turns the corner, pushing the door open just enough for him to see into the room and lean against the frame.
“Fuck! Nat 1.” Dustin shouts, throwing himself back into his chair. Eddie’s eyes light up with a sadistic glint, laugher rumbling low in his chest. “In an attempt to sneak behind the mimic, you trip over a stray tree root and face plant into a nearby column only to find yourself stuck to it.” The entire group groans. “Another mimic? Really?” Gareth groans, stuffing a handful of chips into his mouth. Chuckling to himself Billy makes his way around the table to the empty chair behind Eddie’s throne. He doesn’t understand half of what’s going on, but he always enjoys listening to his boyfriend torture the hell spawn that were the children.
He was right to come wait inside as they played for almost an hour longer than they were supposed to. Eddie turns around as the group starts cleaning up, jumping at the sight of Billy. “How long have you been there?” He asks, hand clutching his heart dramatically. Before he can even open his mouth to answer, Will cuts in, “He’s been here for over an hour, walked in when Dustin fell into the second mimic.”
Everyone nods, still packing up their belongings. Eddie gapes at him, “Am I the only one who didn’t notice?” Varying yes’s came from the kids, even Mike who never notices anything. “Jesus.” Billy chuckles lightly at the exasperated expression On Eddie’s face.
“Hey shitheads; When you have your shit get in the car or you’re walking home, I'm not waiting for another hour cause your parents are already gonna have my head getting you home this late.” The older members are already heading out the door with most of the children trailing behind. Billy pretends to be helping Eddie pack up until everyone is in the parking lot. Muscled arms wrap around a thin waist as he presses himself against Eddie’s body. “Hi baby.” Eddie coos in a saccharinely sweet voice reserved only for Billy when he’s feeling snuggly. Billy tightens his grip on Eddie, “You took too long.” His voice rumbles against Eddie’s back. “I know and I’m sorry. We had to finish this part up tonight.” Instead of actually responding Billy just growls gently, burying his face deeper into his boyfriend's shirt.
“I’ll sneak in tonight and we can do whatever you want but you have to let me finish packing up.” Eddie proposes. Billy leaves gentle kisses on Eddie’s shoulder before reluctantly pulling away. “I’ve got to get the kids home first anyway.”
“Go deliver the gremlins to their parents before they have an aneurysm and I’ll be at your window in like an hour tops, I might even pick some drinks up on the way over.” Eddie gives him the most lovesick grin that Billy can’t help but replicate. “I love you dork” He mumbles, leaning in to kiss Eddie gently. “Love you too asshole. Now go.” And with that Billy exits to the parking lot where his group of hellions are arguing over who gets shotgun. Somewhere in the yelling Will snuck his way into the front seat, curled forward over his well-worn sketchbook.
“None of you are getting the front seat cause Will took it so just get in the fucking car already.” Billy shouts over the kids. All heads whip around to find Will in the front seat waving at them. With groans of complaint everyone eventually piles into the car. Billy drops them off with little fanfare, soon arriving back at the house with Max and WIll.
“There’s pizza on the counter, it's probably cold by now but it’s dinner. I’ll be in my room if you need me.” Billy announces as they pass through the living room. The room is mostly silent sans Max and Will’s muffled voices through his door, but he puts on a mixtape Eddie made to try and quiet the thoughts running rampant in his mind. He tugs off his boots and jeans before flopping onto his bed, laying still for a minute.
Billy must have been more tired than he thought because the next thing he remembers is waking up clock reading 2:35 with Eddie pressed to his side, dead asleep. Pulling the sleeping boy closer Billy falls back into a light sleep listening to Eddie’s snores.

Eddie taps lightly on Billy’s window and waits for him to open it. After 3 failed attempts he tries to open the window himself; and to his surprise it works. He clambers in as quietly as he can only to find a sleeping Billy face planted on his bed. With a fond shake of his head Eddie kicks his shoes off and shrugs off his jacket. He rolls Billy further onto the bed before tugging his jeans off and joining the sleeping boy in his bed. Eddie presses a light kiss to his boyfriend's chest then let's sleep drag him under.
