When a little vessel escapes the abyss with The Hollow Knight, they are given a choice. Do whatever the King asks of them, no matter what, or risk their life for happiness.

Chapter 1: Two Vessels

Notes:

My first story. Hope this goes well.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

The Vessel trained just as they had any other day, alongside their sibling, The Hollow Knight.

Dryya rarely showed up to train the two, but when she did, no time was wasted. The instant Dryya sufficiently taught them one skill, she began teaching them another. All to the King's approval, of course. He wanted the two vessels ready for their respective jobs as soon as possible.

“Stay here a moment, you two.” Dryya said, waving them away to practice on their own. “I must inform the king of your progress before departing.”

It seemed as though Dryya kept leaving for longer and staying for shorter, but The Vessel’s perception of time isn’t very good. The Hollow Knight sheathed their nail and stood in the middle of the room, waiting for The Vessel to begin sparring with them. As they walked up to The Hollow Knight, they affectionately touched their mask.

“You’re a very good actor, but you need not do so in front of me.” The Hollow Knight tried not to flinch, but was obviously caught off guard. “I know you’re not truly hollow, but I’ve always wondered if you could speak?”

After a few more seconds, The Hollow Knight responded quietly. “…Small…” Their voice was gravely and dry, presumably due to lack of use.

“Ah, only a little bit?” The Vessel guessed. The Hollow Knight only nodded a little. Just then, they heard the door creak open a little, Which caused the two to jump away from each other and draw their nails to make it seem as though they’d been sparring.

A few moments of silence passed before The Vessel realized Drya left the door unlocked. The Vessel looked towards The Hollow Knight as they rapidly shook their head, letting them know they thought this was a very bad idea.

“…King..Queen..Knights…See you?” The Vessel chucked in response. “Did he tell you to stop me if I tried to leave?” They asked. The Hollow Knight shook their head. “Then you won’t get in trouble if I am caught.” They said as they left the room, despite The Hollow Knight still shaking their head.

This is a VERY bad idea.

Notes:

The Hollow Knight doesn’t like this idea at all. Anyways, leave any feedback in the comments.
