Chapter Text
“Yoohyeon? Is that really you? No way!”
Kim Yoohyeon had just stepped foot into her new school grounds. Today is the first day of Yoohyeon’s second year of highschool; she honestly didn’t want to transfer or see any point to it, but she literally had no choice as her old school burnt down during the summer. Normally Yoohyeon is quite social, so making friends isn't a problem for her, but she found it a little annoying that after starting highschool for the first time and meeting a bunch of new people, she would have to do it all over again.
Turning her head in the direction of her name being called, she recognizes a familiar face. Sharp features, plump lips and skin clearer than the sky; Lee Siyeon. Maybe she doesn’t have to completely start over after all.
“SIYEON?” Yoohyeon rushes over to engulf her childhood friend in her arms. They had known each other from preschool all the way till their last year of middle school. Yoohyeon attending a private boarding school kept the two from keeping in touch. It doesn’t seem like they were ever out of touch though. “I know it’s only been like a year but it feels like I haven't seen you in ages. How’ve you been? You look great too!”
“The past year was actually really great!” Siyeon exclaims, “Especially since you weren’t around to annoy me,”
Yoohyeon pulls back from the hug just to smack the latter in the head with her two inch thick binder. Siyeon covers her head with her arms and dramatically collapses to the ground.
“Okay! Jeez sorry I was joking” Siyeon apologizes as Yoohyeon jokingly headlocks her.
“I missed you too…” She wheezes out. Yoohyeon releases her and they hug for the second time.
Suddenly, someone the size of a twelve year old boy tackles Yoohyeon from the side and sends her flying to the ground.
“What the fu-”
“GET OFF MY GIRLFRIEND!!”
This small but somehow incredibly strong little gremlin pins Yoohyeon down on the floor between their arms. Yoohyeon shakes her messed up silver hair out of her face to get a better view of the perpetrator. She's met by a girl with long dark hair, a pretty face with a tall nose bridge. Her short stature sure is deceiving.
Siyeon pulls the attacker off Yoohyeon, who’s already up on her feet ready to take the other girl down with her fists.
“Bora it’s okay, she’s just an old friend,” Siyeon calms down her girlfriend.
“SIYEON YOU HAVE A GIRLFRIEND?” Yoohyeon is somehow more shocked about that than how she was just thrown to the ground by a stranger half a head shorter than her.
“What, are you jealous?” Siyeon teases as she mockingly bats her eyelashes and wraps her arms around Bora’s waist.
“No! I’m just surprised that you got a girlfriend before I did.” Yoohyeon protests.
“Not gonna lie, I don’t think it’ll be very hard for you to find a girlfriend,” Bora comments as she looks Yoohyeon up and down. “You are very pretty, and you’re tall too, which is a bonus. Your physical strength on the other hand..”
Yoohyeon gets flustered for a second, but catches herself before she starts blushing.
“I’m gonna get ripped just you watch!” she retorts. The two end up bickering for five minutes, forgetting the fact that Siyeon never properly introduced them. The girl in question is already zoned out in her own world.
‘These two are going to get along great.’

Chapter Text
Kim Minji scans the cafeteria for her usual group of friends, lunch in hand. Half of the first day has already gone by. Being in charge of the student council even though she hasn’t been properly elected yet, Minji had already spent her morning before school running around helping all the teachers, sorting documents, and helping freshmen around the school, and she still had to go to class on top of all that. By this time she was tired as hell. At least now she could relax for a while and regain some energy while she’s with her friends.
“Oi, Minji over here!” Minji spots one of her closest friends and fellow third year Handong chatting with Gahyeon, Minji’s younger cousin who had just enrolled in their school this year.
“Hey Handong, Hey Gahyeon,”
“Wait, why is the little gremlin sitting with us?” Minji questions as she takes a seat next to Handong. “And where’s Bora, I haven’t seen her all day,”
“I’m not a little gremlin!” pouts Gahyeon and Handong just pats her head with a “there, there, child, calm down.
“Yeojin and Choerry went to record Bora supposedly fight this new second year girl and I stayed back so I could go scold them with you Ms. President!” Gahyeon explains and Minji grows increasingly concerned by every word that comes out of the younger’s mouth.
‘Guess I won’t be eating lunch today.’ Minji sighs as she stands up after sitting for less than two minutes.
“Ugh, Bora’s always doing something stupid isn’t she,” Minji’s demeanor quickly changes and she’s in school body president mode. “Lead me there.”
“Right this way, ma’am”
Handong giggles on the sidelines as she watches Choerry’s live stream of Bora and Yoohyeon “fighting” on Instagram. ‘This is going to be interesting.’
She starts screen recording once she sees Minji enter the frame with Gahyeon flanking her side.
“They’re right here unnie,” Gahyeon gestures to a small crowd surrounding some commotion and scurries off to find Yeojin and Choerry.
Minji makes it through the crowd quite easily, barely having to push as most people immediately back off once they notice her presence, bowing with a “sorry Ms. President” and shortly leaving the scene. At the front of the crowd Minji is met by her childhood friend Bora and a tall girl with silver hair WWE wrestling.
“What is going on here?” Minji commands. Neither one of the two girls notice her as they’re too busy trying to flip each other over their shoulders. The silver headed girl stands up at some point and tries to jump on Bora, but poorly misses and lands by Minji’s foot side. Minji winces at the thump the fall makes and looks around to make sure Bora isn’t going to get up and continue attacking the poor girl before helping the girl sprawled out on the floor.
At this point, after she and Bora had been rolling on the ground for twenty minutes, Yoohyeon’s senses are worn out and she honestly feels like she could pass out at any given moment. Yoohyeon rolls onto her back and is greeted by a face of the gods looking down at her in worry.
“Are you alright?” the reincarnate of Aphrodite says to her with upturned brows.
Yoohyeon had never seen someone so gorgeous in her life. And this pretty woman was worried about her? “Could never be better.” Yoohyeon fondly smiles before closing her eyes and falling unconscious. Minji is baffled. What did the girl mean by “Could never be better,” What a weird thing to say. But right now she has other things to worry about.
“EVERYONE STANDING AROUND GET OUT OF THIS HALLWAY NOW. A TEACHER IS ON THE WAY.”
“BORA GET UP AND HELP ME TRANSPORT YOUR VICTIM TO THE NURSES OFFICE.” Minji yells in Bora’s direction as she bends over the silver haired girl. ‘She’s really pretty even with some blood dripping out of her nose.’ Minji unconsciously thinks. She doesn’t even realize she’s smiling. Then she notices something weird about the blood dripping down the girl’s mouth; it’s abnormally pink.
“Wait a minute,” MInji swipes some of the blood off Yoohyeon’s lips onto her finger and smells it, confirming her suspicions. She licks it to double check and she’s right, “It’s strawberry jam.”

Chapter Text
“Why were you guys fighting in the halls?”Minji questions Bora on the way to the infirmary, Yoohyeon propped up between them, one arm over each of their shoulders. It’s a little awkward because Yoohyeon happens to be taller than both of them, so her feet are kind of just dragging across the floor.
“Minjiiiii, we weren’t fighting okayyyy,” Bora reasons. “We were choreographing a fight scene! Did you not notice how the blood on her face was fake? She just was uhhhh not supposed to pass out.”
‘Mhmm,” Minji raises a brow.
“It is kind of her own fault though, like what a fall,” Bora continues. “We were improvising but she didn’t have to go that far,”
“Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if she gave herself a concussion,” Minji admits, “she was saying some weird stuff when I went over to check on her.”
Now Bora was intrigued, more potential things to make fun of Yoohyeon for.
“Oh? Like what?”
“Well when I asked if she was okay she looked at me and said she “could never have been better”, and then she was weirdly smiling before she passed out,”
“OH.. I see where this is going..” Bora has reached some type of epiphany. “She looked at your face for sure before she said that right,”
“Yeah why?”
“HAHAHAHHAHA!” Bora starts laughing, and slaps herself in the face with Yoohyeon’s hand that’s dangling over her shoulder.
I’m crying. That dumbass probably fell in love at first sight with Minji. Bora hides her face with Yoohyeon’s hand and snickers. Gahyeon better have gotten all that on video.
“What’s so funny Bora tell meeeee,” Minji whines. Bora just ignores her and continues to laugh as they make it the rest of the way to the nurses office. They drop Yoohyeon off and walk to their next class which they happen to have together. “Come on Boraaaaa, tell me please?”
“You’ll figure out soon enough MInji,” Bora claims. “Maybe try to get close to Yoohyeon and you’ll know.”
‘What is this girl suggesting,,’ Minji ponders.

Chapter Text
‘What is this place,’ Yoohyeon wakes up in a small unfamiliar room. She sits up and realizes she's on a bed. Looking around, she sees a sink and medical equipment hanging on the walls. She must be in the nurse's office.
‘Already in the nurse's office on the first day, not the first time either,’ thinks Yoohyeon. Last year she managed to sprain her ankle tripping down the stairs while rushing to her first class.
Yoohyeon wondered if it was the really pretty girl that brought her here, or if it was that moron, Bora. Speaking of the pretty girl.. Yoohyeon’s mind flashed back to the image of the woman, her saying “are you okay?” repeating over and over again in her head.
‘She’s so pretty. I hope I wasn't just hallucinating. She’s so pretty it could have been a dream.’ Yoohyeon daydreams about this girl she doesn't even know the name of with her legs criss crossed, hands propping up her head as she smiles at the blank walls. She has completely forgotten the fact that she got knocked out and just woke up after being unconscious for who knows how long.
The door suddenly slides open and a middle aged woman comes through with a clipboard.
“Hi Yoohyeon, I’m Doctor Kang. I’m the school nurse.” The woman in baby blue scrubs and a doctor's jacket greets. Yoohyeon reads the embroidery on the left hand side of the doctor’s coat, making sure it’s not some imposter who kidnapped her or something to the likes of that.
“I examined you and you are completely fine. You likely passed out due to exhaustion, but your blood pressure was pretty low so it could have been due to shock,” Dr Kang explains.
‘Shock?’ Yoohyeon thinks back, What was she possibly shocked by? The fact that she accidentally dived into the ground? Nahh. Maybe it was the beauty of the angel that hovered over her after her fall. That reminds her.
“Wait Doctor, do you know who brought me here?” Yoohyeon questions.
“Oh yeah, the school president and Kim Bora did, maybe you should go thank them later,” informs Dr Kang.
“There’s a school president?” No one ever told Yoohyeon there was one.
“Oh you don’t know?”
Yoohyeon shakes her head. It’s only the first day so who else that’s new would know?
“I mean she’s not actually the president because school elections haven’t happened yet, but she was in the student council last year and did more than the actual president, so your peers and I just call her Ms. President.” The doctor clarifies. “She doesn’t have much competition though, I doubt that many people want to deal with little rascals like Kim Bora, and Minji’s one of the only people who can keep her somewhat under control. She does her job really well though, so even if there were other candidates running against her she’d probably still win”
“Minji?” Yoohyeon’s ears perk up at the name.
“Oh right I forgot to say, Kim Minji is the school’s (future) president. I’m surprised you don’t know her, I heard she’s quite popular. She gets good grades, is really nice, contributes to the school and a bonus is that she’s really pretty. I hope my daughter grows up to be like her.”
‘Really pretty she said?’ Yoohyeon connects the dots. ‘THE PRETTY GIRL IS THE SCHOOL PRESIDENT? I’m screwed, that means more competition. Hearing all that good stuff about her, she probably has people asking her out everyday; she’s most likely already taken.’
Yoohyeon’s brows furrow as she thinks about the possibility of her crush(?) having a significant other. ‘Aww dammit Yoohyeon. First day of school and you’ve already fallen for someone, great.”
“Girl are you okay?” Dr Kang notices the look of intense thinking on Yoohyeon’s face. Yoohyeon had already forgotten that she was in the room with this woman.
“IS KIM MINJI IN A RELATIONSHIP?” Yoohyeon blurts out. She instantly covers her mouth, embarrassed that her mouth moves faster than her brain.
“Uhm, not that I know of,” Doctor Kang smirks. “You don’t already have a crush on someone you’ve barely met do you? Or did I describe her too favourably?”
“NO?” Yoohyeon immediately denies. “I’m just uhhh interested, that's all.”
“Interested in what? Dating her?” Dr Kang teases.
Yoohyeon is pretty sure it’s unprofessional and unethical for a government healthcare worker to be asking a student questions like this. She opens her mouth to talk back but nothing comes out. Dr Kang watches her struggle and lets it go.
“Alright, alright, I’l leave you and your gay feelings alone,” these words somehow make Yoohyeon even more offended. ‘How does she know I’m gay?’
“Sorry I got a little carried away, You should be heading to the counsellor's room right now. It’s the first day, and all students are required to join a club or sports team. You slept through the rest of your classes including the block where you were supposed to choose something so you can do that right now,” Dr Kang says, finally providing Yoohyeon with some useful information. “I’ve already called your counsellor so he knows you’re coming, so scurry along now,”
Leaving the room, Yoohyeons’s shoulders relax for the first time since she met the school nurse.
‘That woman is crazy.’
Notes:
also i just realized that i called her a doctor and shes the school nurse so ignore that lets say shes both.

Chapter Text
The corridors are pretty empty since most students have already gone home. Yoohyeon takes her time walking to the counsellor’s room, admiring the courtyard through the extended wide window pane. A figure appears in her line of sight, catching her attention.
“Yubin?” Yoohyeon immediately recognizes the long dark blue hair, small cute face, and futchy aura. It was Yoohyeon’s best friend from middle school, Lee Yubin. The girl in question had her arms wrapped around a large bundle of kendo sticks, hastening her walking pace toward Yoohyeon after she heard her name being called.
“Yoohyeon? Siyeon told me that you attend this school now, but where were you?” Yubin questions. “Siyeon and I were looking for you at lunch, and we have periods three and four together but you never showed up, I was getting a little concerned,”
“Haha sorry, I was fighting Siyeon's girlfriend at lunch and then I passed out and just woke up!” Yoohyeon responds like that’s a totally normal thing to say. Yoohyeon’s antics aren’t entirely new to Yubin so she just gives Yoohyeon a slightly judgemental look.
“We have a lot to catch up on,”
Yoohyeon helps Yubin carry the kendo sticks to the gym and on the way, Yoohyeon tells her friend about how she’s supposed to be going to the counselor's room to join a club.
“I’m the leader of the Kendo club,” Yubin proudly declares, “I’ll let you in free of charge.”
“Aren’t all clubs supposed to be free?” Yoohyeon retorts.
“Yeah, but I’m your bestfriend so that makes it extra free,” Yubin says as she nudges her shoulder into Yoohyeon’s side.
“I don’t know.. Kendo’s not really my thing,” admits Yoohyeon, gritting her teeth together. “Remember in grade nine when I tried out for the team I accidentally broke the stick with someone’s head?”
“Ahahaha yeah.. maybe it’s best if you don't join so our school won’t get sued,”
The pair drop off the sticks in the gym storage room and Yubin leads Yoohyeon to the counselor’s room.
“Godbless you Yubin, That crazy school nurse didn't even give me directions or give me the room number, I’m glad I ran into you.” says Yoohyeon as she follows closely behind Yubin.
“Oh, why do you think she’s crazy?” Yubin’s never heard someone describe Dr Kang in that sense, just other things like nosy, intrusive, and snoopy, so that was a first. “Did she try to forcibly stick a needle in you or something?”
“No, she kept on prying in my personal affairs,' Yoohyeon says with a 'hmph'.
“Damn like what,” Yubin is not surprised at all.
“LIKE ACCUSING ME OF LIKING THE SCHOOL PRESIDENT!” It's already too late when Yoohyeon realizes what she said. She smacks herself in the face. ‘Crap I did it again.’
Yubin smirks; now she’s surprised.
“Well, do you like the school president?”
Yoohyeon falls silent and awkwardly scratches the back of her neck.
“You do like her don't you,”
No response.
“OH WOW, you totally like her, how'd you like her after only one day? Did she even talk to you?”
The more Yoohyeon thinks about this situation the more embarrassed she gets. All the president did was ask if she was alright and carry her to the nurses office and Yoohyeon wasn’t even conscious for the second half. Regarding Yubin’s question, yeah, Minji did talk to her and she did say something back, even if she did faint after saying four words.
“I guess we did talk,” “but I passed out right after”
“PFFTTT.” Yubin starts cackling and smacking Yoohyeon on the shoulder. “You are so pathetic. Did you pass out from her beauty or something?”
“I think I did,” Yoohyeon realizes for like the third time. “Do you think I have a chance with her?”
“Honestly I don't know man, she's rejected every single person that’s asked her out,” Yubin pauses for a second. “Actually, it's more like whenever someone confesses to her, it flies over her head and she says some dumb shit like, ‘I like you too, I think you’re a great friend 😊.'”
Yoohyeon’s face twitches.
“OHhh so she's like dense.”
“Yeah, really dense” Yubin isn’t going to make her bestfriend lose hope though. “Don’t worry though babycakes just try to get to know her, she’s a really friendly person,”
“Haha yeah, I can tell.”
The two both spontaneously burst out in laughter.
“Thanks Yubs,”
“Anytime Yooh.”
Notes:

Chapter Text
Yoohyeon and Yubin arrive at the counsellor’s room and knock on the door a few times. A middle aged man opens the door and greets them both.
“Ah Yubin, you're here too,”
“Oh I was just escorting Yoohyeon here, I gotta get to a club meeting so I'll be going now,” The kendo club captain hastenly says. “See you tomorrow, Yoohyeon.”
Yoohyeon says goodbye to her friend and the counsellor introduces himself.
“‘I’m the school counsellor, Mr Park. I heard about what happened, are you feeling any better?”
Yoohyeon nods. The counsellor welcomes her into his room, a pretty small but cozy room lined with a dark green carpet and wooden stained walls. At the back of the room is presumably Mr Park's desk, a leather couch perpendicular to it and a petite wooden coffee table to pair with it. Walking into the room, Yoohyeon notices a bulky man sitting on the couch, seemingly tall as his legs easily touch the floor, having to bend at a forty five degree angle for them to fit in front of the coffee table.
“Yoohyeon, this is Mr Choi, the basketball coach,” introduces Mr Park. Bowing, Mr Choi stands up and Yoohyeon is met by his full height. He is the same height as her. She holds in a laugh. “Yoohyeon’s just here because she missed club selection,”
‘Damn man you got some long ass legs,’ Yoohyeon thinks he resembles a deformed grasshopper. ‘What a tiny torso.’
She’s right. The basketball coach's torso to leg ratio is like 1:7.
Mr Choi also seems to notice how Yoohyeon is at the same eye level as him
something clicks in his head.
“You should join the basketball team,” he enthusiastically offers. Yoohyeon flashes an unnerving smile. She was definitely not coordinated enough for basketball.
“Haha.. Maybe,” She’s too nice to turn down the man. “Can please I look through the other options first,” Mr Choi complies and Yoohyeon sits down on the opposite end of the couch as him, scooching as close to the edge as possible. She fidgets with the fabric of her skirt, slightly uncomfortable. Mr Park sits across them scrolling on his monitor and clicking a few keys. The mechanical sounds of the printer fill the awkward silence in the room for a moment and the counsellor retrieves a freshly inked sheet and hands it to Yoohyeon.
“Here’s a list of all of our school’s clubs and sport teams.” Mr Park informs as Yoohyeon scans her eyes over the page. “Let me know if you have any questions.”
Writing club, reading club, literature club; ‘Isn’t that all the same thing? I don’t want to do more academic stuff after school,. Debate club; Yoohyeon knew for a fact she was shit at debate. Student council; ‘Oh hell no, I’m not trying to run the government,’
By the bottom of the page, nothing caught Yoohyeon’s attention. Not wanting to stay in a room with two middle aged men for much longer, Yoohyeon turns to the basketball coach on her right and gives in to his offer.
“I’ll join the basketball team,” Yoohyeon sighs. Mr Choi is so ecstatic he does a little hop on the couch.
“Great! I’ll assess you tomorrow after classes! Remember to bring gym clothes and the team captain will be there to watch too!”
‘Yeah, great,” Yoohyeon grits through her teeth. She was already regretting her decision. ‘The team captain? OH COME ON I can’t even walk straight, much less while dribbling a ball,’
Yoohyeon reassures herself a little, remembering that she was on the basketball team in middle school, only due to her tall stature and remarkably lucky(her previous coaches thought it was skill) shots.
She leaves the counsellor's room letting out a breath she didn’t know she was holding.
“So many weird staff at this school,”

Chapter Text
By the time Yoohyeon is walking out the front of the school, the sky is already glowing orange. She strides out onto the stone brick pavement, admiring the warm hues. In the distance she spots a figure, who she presumes recently left the school too.
‘I wonder why they’re still at school so late,’ Yoohyeon ponders. She takes a few steps closer to the person, stopping in her tracks when she realizes who it is.
Wind softly blows through the school president's hair, which perfectly caresses her carefully sculpted features. Yoohyeon admires her from afar, never actually being able to properly take in all of her beauty before. From this distance, Yoohyeon can tell that the president is probably around her height, and has long black locks flowing down her back. She has a very stunning side profile. Yoohyeon notes her impeccable posture.
Yoohyeon shakes out of her trance when a ringing comes from Minji’s school bag, hung over her shoulder.
“Hello?”
“Oh yeah mom, I’ll be home in a bit, I just got off the student council meeting and I did delay a bit looking at the sunset, sorry, love you.”
Only from overhearing Minji’s phone call does Yoohyeon realize how long she has been staring at the other girl for. She wonders how Minji hasn't noticed her yet.
‘Her voice is pretty too,’ she thinks.
Yoohyeon contemplates whether she should go up to Minji. She decides against it as they never properly met nor does the president know her name(well that’s what Yoohyeon thinks). And Yoohyeon is still a little embarrassed by the fact that she face planted on the floor in front of said president. She’ll eventually muster up the courage someday.
Noticing how Minji walks in the direction the second year herself takes home, she waits a little until the president is out of sight; Yoohyeon not wanting to make her feel uncomfortable.

Chapter Text
Yoohyeon takes in a deep breath of the fresh morning air. It’s a bright day as usual for April; sunny, but not too warm with a cool breeze balancing the temperature. Being a morning person, Yoohyeon leisurely strolls to school, waking up extra early just to be able to take her time walking. She takes it as a moment to relax and not think about anything and to avoid remembering things such as how she joined the basketball team.
Walking two blocks behind Yoohyeon is a tired but put together Kim Minji, a little slow in her step as Minji, unlike Yoohyeon, is not quite fond of mornings. Rubbing her still waking eyes, Minji squints as she sees a tall figure in a similar school uniform a few meters in front of her. Her contacts have yet to be put on; it takes a few seconds of struggled squinting and blinking for her to determine who the person is. Long silver hair, model like proportions (Minji reckoned that Yoohyeon has long legs after having to support her body the day prior). She could tell that it was the second year her childhood friend partially beat up even though she could only see Yoohyeon’s backside.
Minji was unsure whether or not it would be appropriate for her to go up to her junior; they obviously weren’t friends yet, but Minji wanted to be. She told herself that she wanted to befriend Yoohyeon to make up for Bora’s antics, but was that really it? Minji always treated everybody like a friend anyways, so that shouldn’t be a problem, right? Why was Yoohyeon different from the others?
Thinking back to the previous day, Minji had thought about what Bora told her “ Maybe try to get close to Yoohyeon and you’ll know.”
Things like friendships always came naturally to Minji. Maybe it was the fact that Bora had specifically told Minji to get closer to Yoohyeon which made her slightly nervous. She had an underlying suspicion that Bora was implying that she was the reason why Yoohyeon passed out. What Minji doesn’t understand is how she could’ve single-handedly caused it. Like yeah sure, Yoohyeon crashed head first into the floor, but why did she seem so shocked when she looked at Minji and faint right after?
‘Did I intimidate her or something?’ she contemplates. Personally, Minji doesn’t think she looks or is very intimidating at all. Most people act friendly when they meet her, enticed by her looks, so they try to get on her good side. There are a couple of people that get jealous and do the opposite (Minji is aware that she’s very pretty, but doesn’t get why people go to such lengths just because of her appearance), but no one has ever reacted how Yoohyeon did before. Not really wanting to think about it anymore, Minji makes a mental note to be extra-friendly to Yoohyeon (if being more friendly than she already is is possible) and continues distantly trailing behind the second year.
Arriving at the school, Yoohyeon heads to the library, planning to meet up with Siyeon and Yubin to catch up on her studies after her medical inconvenience yesterday. A peaceful morning walk wasn’t the only reason Yoohyeon got up early. Despite her goofy outer deposition, she does value her education. That being how she ended up in a private school in the first place.
Yoohyeon is pleasantly surprised by the school’s library, rows of tall shelves lining the room with comfy seats scattered around the quiet area. The room isn’t suffocating either as the ceiling is the height of an average gym and windows make up the library’s front entrance, letting sunlight shine in. It’s pretty nice for a public school and even better than Yoohyeon’s old school if she could say the least. The library seems to be pretty empty, no staff seen at the front desk. Scanning the large interior, Yoohyeon spots her two friends, sitting at a small round table with their binders out, both chatting as they have yet to notice the silver haired girl.
“BOO!” Yoohyeon slams her own binder onto the wooden table, forgetting that they’re in a library. She’s lucky that there is no one else in the library but them.
“Jesus fucking Christ, Kim Yoohyeon what is your problem,” Siyeon understandably complains as she had almost jumped out of her seat.
“Why did I agree to this?” Yubin sighs. Waking up early just to get harassed by Yoohyeon, not what she signed up for, but she’s not surprised either.
Yoohyeon sits down between the two and starts actually behaving. They finish their tutoring session pretty fast, Yubin naturally doing most of the teaching (IQ of 170), Siyeon giving pointers every so and then, and Yoohyeon picking up everything quickly. When they’re done, there’s still fifteen minutes before their classes start and Yoohyeon decides to look around the library and see if there is anything she might be interested in. Yubin and Siyeon both leave, another classmate asking Yubin for help, and Siyeon going off to give Bora a morning kiss (Bora doesn’t eat breakfast until she gets her morning kiss and eats in the middle of class).
Yoohyeon noticed that the shelves were tall but she didn’t think they were that tall. These ones have ladders, the ones that slide back and forth (and possibly have a chance of toppling over) and she is very tempted to climb the one in front of her right now. She thinks and knows it’s a bad idea, but there isn't anyone around to stop her. She’ll climb up, feel the adrenaline of a six year old on top of a sledding hill saying they’re the king of the castle, grab a random book for show and climb back down safely like the responsible highschooler she is. Right?
A clueless Minji is about to head to her first class of the day after finishing her morning school president duties when she walks by the library and notices that the doors are open. They’re not supposed to be open at this time. The only person who has access to the library keys other than Minji herself and the staff is Lee Yubin, who is an exception because she did a few favours for Minji when she was sick last year and Minji knows she likes going to the library often.
‘Is there someone in here?’ Minji thinks as she steps in the vast space, walking around in search of a culprit. She hears some footsteps(?) from the back of the library near the high shelves and makes her way there, her guard up incase of a book thief. Looking around the corner of a shelf, Minji finds an all too familiar second year making her way up a ladder to the top of the shelf. Minji notices how the ladder is still shifting side to side a little, the younger girl probably didn’t lock the bottom before starting to climb. In fear of Yoohyeon’s safety, Minji walks up to the ladder and pulls a small lever securing the bottom, so the other girl won’t get swung around.
“Yoohyeon?” She calls out from below startling the perpetrator above.
Somehow, even after the ladder is locked still, Yoohyeon manages to slip.
“OH SHIT!” A flash of silver comes tumbling down and Minji instinctively opens her arms, successfully catching the taller girl. She stumbles backwards, the momentum and weight a little too much for Minji’s strength to handle. She still manages to lift a shocked Yoohyeon with one arm while steadying herself with her other arm on a table placed conveniently behind her. Once she is balanced again, she changes her grip, one arm under Yoohyeon’s knees and the other around her shoulders, carrying her bridal style.
Yoohyeon is dazed. She just fell two meters off a ladder and her crush(?) caught her, and is still carrying her, strong arms wrapped around her body, with the same worried look in her eyes as the ones Yoohyeon first laid her eyes on. She can’t help but to stare. She admires all of Minji’s features, wondering how her eyes alone could show so much emotion. Yoohyeon quickly realizes that Minji is staring back at her the same way. Her voice gets caught in her throat, suddenly feeling almost too conscious. Her heart feels like it’s going to beat out of her chest.
“Thank you for catching me,” Yoohyeon manages to utter out without stuttering.
Minji herself seems shocked. It all happened so fast. She didn’t realize she was still carrying Yoohyeon, but doesn’t want to abruptly put her down; she just continues carrying her and looking her in the eyes, looking for any signs of unwellness.
Struggling to maintain eye contact, Yoohyeon feels her face heat up, which Minji notices and finally breaks the awkward silence by asking if she’s okay.
“Uh yeah,” Yoohyeon releases an arm that she didn't even notice was wrapped around Minji’s neck to vigorously wave her hand around, “I’m fine really. Are you okay? You’re the one who took the brunt of that,”
“Oh, It was nothing really, I'm okay,” Minji realizes that Yoohyeon’s right and she carefully sets Yoohyeon down on her feet. Not really knowing how to act, Minji awkwardly pats Yoohyeon on the head, smoothing out her slightly messed up bangs. This causes Yoohyeon to turn even redder and she starts fake coughing to cover her face.
“Oh my god, do you need water?” Minji digs through her bag and pulls out a thermos with the cup lid and fills the cup with warm water, offering it to Yoohyeon. Yoohyeon graciously accepts and thanks the school president. She wipes her mouth with her sleeve and returns the cup.
“Thanks again for saving my life,” Yoohyeon gives Minji the most sincere smile, eyes turning to crescents.
“Anytime, and please stop getting hurt,” Minji half jokes (she really does hope that Yoohyeon will be more careful). They both share a laugh before the bell rings and say their farewells, then parting ways.
On her way to class, Minji takes a few slow deep breaths attempting to slow down her heart rate. ‘Is something wrong?’ she thought. She noticed how her blood had been pumping abnormally fast after her encounter with Yoohyeon. ‘Maybe I’ll ask Handong,’ (Minji’s fellow third year currently has an internship at the local hospital). Minji arrives to class five minutes late due to being held back by a few lost students in the halls, and a kid who dropped their school supplies all over the floor.
“Ah Minji, Ms Jin excused your lateness through a call earlier, please take a seat,” the teacher informs her, momentarily looking up from his attendance sheet.
Minji takes her usual seat in the back next to Kim Bora, who is currently munching on a bowl of cereal. The teachers always put Minji at the very back, so she can do their jobs for them and watch over the other students. She appreciates the teachers for trusting her, but honestly, Minji was way too blind to see the board from all the way in the back. One good thing about her seating arrangement was that no one would notice when she had tea to spill like today.
“Bora, the craziest thing just happened today,” Minji exclaims, taking her binder and pencil case out of her bag.
“What, did Ms Jin blackmail you or something?” Bora half heartedly asks as she’s busy trying to pick each individual rice krispy into her mouth with a pair of chopsticks.
“No, it involves Kim Yoohyeon,” Bora’s chopsticks loudly clatter into her bowl.
“Bora, what did I say about eating in my class?” The teacher scolds.
Bora ignores him and turns her chair to directly face Minji. “I’m seated.”
She listens intently as Minji retells her morning, details and all. Bora giggles to herself. How is Yoohyeon so unlucky yet lucky at the same time?
“Oh wow, that’s so cute, you guys are like a kdrama couple,” She teases, trying to nudge Minji in the right direction. Minji subconsciously turns a slight shade pinker, but lightly brushes off the comment.
“Haha, I guess you’re kinda right. What are the chances that the same girl that passes out by your feet falls off a ladder falls into your arms the following day?” Minji doesn’t realize how intimate her words sound. Bora raises a brow, waiting for Minji to say more.
“Funny how we haven’t even had a proper conversation yet,” comments Minji. Bora’s eye twitches.
“You saved this girl from possible death twice and you haven’t talked?” Bora rightfully exaggerates. The shorter girl is slightly irritated.
“Oh come on Bora, it’s only the second day; I’ll talk to her eventually,” Minji whines, “Plus, I was talking to Ha Sooyoung earlier and she told me the basketball coach invited Yoohyeon to the team. Apparently she’s the tallest girl in the school.”
Yoohyeon? Basketball? Bora had only known Yoohyeon for a day but she did not think that the second year could play basketball; well be good at playing basketball.
“What, I thought Ha Sooyoung was like six feet, no way Yoohyeon’s taller than her,”
“I’m literally the same height as her,” Minji giggles. “Sooyoung just acts like she’s six feet tall. She told the coach that and he seemed to believe her, and you’re shorter than most people here, so I see why you would believe that.”
“Boooooooo,” Bora gives the president a thumbs down and crosses her arms “Minji you’re not even that much taller than me,”
“Haha sure, only by a head,”
“ANYWAYS” Feeling targeted about her height, Bora changes the topic to target other people’s heights. “Coach thinks he’s seven feet tall so anyone a little shorter than him is six feet to him,”
“He probably thinks Yoohyeon is seven feet tall too then,” Minji comments and remembers why she brought this up in the first place, “Oh right, do you wanna go watch Yoohyeon’s tryout with me after school? I feel like maybe I could strike up a convo with her after,”
“Aww, I would love to, Minji, but Siyeon and I have a date planned,” Bora is lying; she and Siyeon do not have a date planned. She just wants Minji to spend some time with Yoohyeon alone.
Now that Bora thinks about it, why is she playing matchmaker? Maybe it’s how she constantly sees her best friend being so focused on school, rarely getting to relax with so many responsibilities, or it’s how she thinks Yoohyeon would be so perfect for Minji, carefreeness contrasting that of the presidents, or maybe it’s both. The fun that comes out of being with Yoohyeon alone could do Minji some good.
“Hope you have a good time, Minji,” Bora wishes. Then she remembers that her best friend is like the busiest person in the whole school. “Wait, don't you have student council though?”
“Nope! I did everything in the morning and got Jinsoul to keep everything in check today,” Minji retorts proudly. Bora herself is suprised; the president had never skipped student council meetings before, even if she didn’t need to attend them. Maybe Yoohyeon somehow is already getting Minji to loosen up, thinks Bora.
“Enjoy your date then,” Minji bids.
“Yeah, you enjoy your date too,”
“Wh-“
“Girls in the back please stop chatting, you're supposed to be writing your personal essay right now.”
“Yes sir,” the two best friends simultaneously answer. Bora stifles a laugh as she chomps on the rest of her soggy cereal, while Minji actually pulls out her computer and starts typing.

Chapter Text
Yoohyeon could still feel Minji’s touch lingering on her skin. It’s hard not to get lost in the halls as her mind is struggling to process everything that just happened. And man is she struggling a lot. She doesn’t know if she should consider herself lucky for falling into her crush’s arms or if she should feel bad for potentially crushing her to death. From that height Yoohyeon, (using her physics knowledge) is sure if Minji didn’t see her fall she would have killed her. Yoohyeon would like to believe that it’s fate and it was just meant to happen, but a little voice inside her is telling her she’s being delusional.
Yoohyeon has had her fair share of crushes in the past, but she really just admired them from afar, most of them being straight (or just in denial). She never really went out of her way to try to date them, but maybe it was her own fault for never having the guts to confess. She really hopes it won’t be like that with Minji. Problem is (for most sapphics), she doesn’t even know if Minji likes girls. Sighing, she shoves her thoughts back into her head and adverts her attention to her surroundings.
The hallways are quite spacious, atmosphere bright with shiny white cement floors reflecting the light shining through the wide windows. Yoohyeon makes the mistake of looking at the sun for a little too long and stays put for a second, trying to recover by blocking her eyes with her hands. Something, or someone bumps into her.
“OH MY GOD ARE YOU OKAY?” Yoohyeon uncovers her eyes and is met by a very dramatic girl. Aside from the very shocked expression on her face, the girl is quite pretty. She is slightly shorter than Yoohyeon, and has long dark blue hair.
“Oh yeah, it was just a little bump, I'm fine,” replies Yoohyeon with a shy hand rubbing her nape in embarrassment. Why was she even embarrassed? The girl was the one that bumped into her. Yoohyeon always gets nervous when talking to pretty girls. The girl giggles at Yoohyeon’s response (Yoohyeon didn't think her answer was very funny) and sticks out an outstretched hand.
“I’m Jeong Jinsoul, second year, nice to meet you,” introduces Jinsoul. Yoohyeon shakes her hand, Jinsoul putting her other hand over Yoohyeon’s and bowing along with it. The taller girl gets flustered at how extra Jinsoul’s being. “You must be Yoohyeon, I’ve heard so much about you,”
“Oh, uh thanks, it’s nice to meet you too,” Now Yoohyeon was really flustered and confused. Damn really? This girl has to be tripping. She hasn’t even been at this school for two whole days yet. And she had never met or heard of Jinsoul either. Were people talking about her because of the whole Bora lunch wrestling thing? That would be kind of embarrassing. Jinsoul’s eager voice pulls Yoohyeon out of her thoughts.
“Uhm, I have to get to class now, but I think you’re really cute. Here’s my number, you can contact me if you ever need help with anything. See you around!” Jinsoul folds a small piece of paper in Yoohyeon’s hand and gives her a polite tightlipped smile before walking away, leaving Yoohyeon standing in the empty hallway alone.
Yoohyeon is dumbfounded. Did she just get asked out? Maybe that’s why Jinsoul was being so friendly towards her. Opening her hand, she unfolds the paper, eyes scanning over Jinsoul’s digits neatly written in a sparkly blue gel pen. She really doesn’t know what to do. Minji is Yoohyeon’s crush so she isn’t going to betray her like that, and she barely knows Jinsoul. It can’t hurt to become friends with her, but Yoohyeon doesn’t want to lead Jinsoul on or anything. Her arms drop to her side, groaning. Suddenly someone very aggressively knocks into her side and runs right past her, screaming “SINGNIE!!!”
Yoohyeon’s arm holding Jinsoul’s number comes loose.
“BORA!!!”
Another very aggressive person crashes into Yoohyeon, the dainty little piece of paper is set free, flowing with the wind. Yoohyeon’s line of sight follows the note, watching it land into a random bowl on the floor. She notices how the blue ink starts spreading and tints the liquid in the bowl. Why is there a bowl of milk on the ground? Wtf . Yoohyeon looks to the left of the bowl, and there stands Siyeon and Bora, intimately making out in the middle of a school hallway.
“EUGH GUYS GET A ROOM!” Yoohyeon protests, shoving the couple apart. “AND WHO PUT A BOWL OF MILK ON THE GROUND? I JUST GOT A PRETTY GIRL’S NUMBER AND ONE OF YOU JUST KNOCKED IT OUT OF MY HAND INTO THE BOWL.”
“Oh, what pretty girl? Minji gave you her number?” Bora replies and calmly walks over to link arms with Siyeon as if Yoohyeon is not shouting at her.
“NO! It was Jeong Jinsoul’s.” Yoohyeon pouts.
“Jinsoul is interested in you? Hmmm.. interesting.” Bora comments. She picks up the bowl off the ground and takes out the soggy piece of paper, then puts it in Yoohyeon’s hand. “I thought you like Minji though,”
“Yeah I do, how did you know? Anyways, that’s not the point. What if Jinsoul just wants to be friends?” Yoohyeon carefully peels the paper, trying to read the now illegible writing. “Ugh, now what do I do when she notices I’m never gonna text her?”
“You like Minji?” Siyeon interrupts. “Girl how? You’ve been at this school for one day.”
“Oh my god >:( why does everyone keep asking me that?” Yoohyeon squishes the wet note in her hand and turns around to head to class. She’s been thwarted enough. “See you in class Siyeon, I am leaving!”
“Wait, Yoohyeon!” Bora runs up to the silver haired girl, and whispers in her ear, “Don’t worry about losing Jinsoul’s number, if she gave it to you that probably means she doesn’t want to be just friends. Actually, you should be more worried about Jinsoul liking you. She’s a little -uhm how do I put this? Persistent? So you’ll probably be getting her number back in no time. Don’t let her sway you though, go steal Minji’s heart, okay? Good luck Yooh,”
“Uhm okay, thank you,” Yoohyeon is caught off guard at how Bora actually gave her useful advice without physically assaulting her. She doesn’t ever remember telling Bora she likes Minji (Little does she know Bora was the first person to find out). That hot headed shortie is a lot smarter than she looks, huh?
The trio end up walking to class together, their classes conveniently close. They make a little small talk before Bora goes into her classroom and the two second years enter the one next to it.
Siyeon and Yoohyeon’s first class of the day is math. Their teacher is pretty chill, so even though the two sit in the front, they can freely chat after the lesson is over and they finish their work. Throughout the whole lecture Yoohyeon has been giving antsy glances at Siyeon, like she has something to tell her. This makes the black haired girl slightly uncomfortable.
“What?!” Siyeon whisper shouts into Yoohyeon’s ear, maybe a little too loudly. Yoohyeon winces, which causes the teacher to give them a knowing eyebrow raise.
“Chill, I need to tell you about something,”
“Yeah I can tell,”
The teacher glares at the two again, causing them to stop in their tracks.
“Okay wait, I’ll tell you later,”
After the lesson is done (Yoohyeon is pretty sure the teacher talked for an extra fifteen minutes just to piss off her and her equally respectful classmate Lee Siyeon), Yoohyeon explains everything that happened in her morning after their tutoring session.
“So I was getting a book in the library and I had to use the ladder, then someone clicked something at the bottom, which I think kept it from sliding back and forth. It scared me a little though so I slipped and fell,”
“What.” Siyeon’s jaw slackens. “How are you alive?”
“Someone caught me,“ says Yoohyeon. “And you know the even crazier part?”
Siyeon didn’t think this could get any more out of pocket.
“It was Kim Minji.”
“The school president you have a crush on? No way,”
“Hey! At this point everyone’s gonna know!” Yoohyeon shushes. She is a little worried about the amount of people that know. There are only like four people Yoohyeon could think of; Bora, Siyeon, Yubin, and the school nurse(part of the reason Yoohyeon is grateful for Minji saving her is that doesn’t have to be confronted by that woman). Four people isn’t a lot, but Yoohyeon is just concerned about how loud these certain few people were. Well, mostly Bora. But by the way Bora gave her encouragement earlier, she wasn’t all too worried.
Siyeon does a zipping motion over her mouth, pursing her lips.
“My lips are sealed,”
“Thank you,” Slightly more at peace, Yoohyeon remembers something that she does not feel at peace about at all.
“Oh shoot, I forgot to tell you, I have basketball tryouts after school today, ugh what am I gonna do?”
“I don’t know? Just do what you normally do, just toss the ball and hope for the best. It works out for you most of the time doesn’t it?”
“I guess,” That advice sure is helpful, Yoohyeon thinks, groaning even more as she clunks her head onto her desk. Maybe she shouldn’t be asking the most unathletic person she knows for tips.
“Haha, just kidding Yooh, just try your best and have fun okay!”
“Okay thanks mom,” Yoohyeon giggles, Siyeon is right.
“Of course honey, have fun!”
The rest of Yoohyeon’s day goes pretty smoothly, most of her time spent just sitting at her desk fighting boredom and the urge to sleep at the same time. One thing she enjoyed is culinary arts, which is her last class of the day. Since today is only the second day, they haven’t started cooking yet, but the following day they will.
It’s now time for what Yoohyeon has been dreading for the whole day. Peering inside the gym, she notices that no one has arrived yet. She heads into the locker room to change.
Minji enters the gym shortly after Yoohyeon, taking a seat on one of the long wooden benches while waiting for the tryout to begin. One thing that the school president spent a lot of the day thinking about was how to approach Yoohyeon. She was slightly afraid of making the wrong impression. Like what if Yoohyeon thinks she’s creepy for watching her tryout? Minji bends over, head in hands thinking about all the possibilities everything could go wrong. Wait, why am I so worried about this? She feels like she has slightly lost it since encountering Yoohyeon. She’s just an underclassman, not much different from everyone else. Keep your composure Minji. Sitting back up, the president straightens out her school uniform, checking her reflection on her phone.
“Click clack-” Minji’s head turns at the sound of the locker room door opening. Jaw dropping, she suddenly losing the composure she had just regained.
Yoohyeon walks out of the locker room casually running her hand through her silver hair, in a tight fitting white cropped compression shirt and high cut shorts. Forgetting how to speak, Minji runs her eyes all over the second year’s figure, perceiving each one of her features. Her sharp shoulders, tiny waist lined with defined abs (Yoohyeon knew what she was doing with the shirt), Minji physically gulps looking at Yoohyeon’s toned legs, wow they are long. Before Minji can stop herself from ogling at Yoohyeon any longer, Yoohyeon’s eyes meet her own, catching the president off guard. Minji feels her face heating up, having been caught staring. Before she can say anything to excuse her actions, her eyes widen as Yoohyeon starts walking towards her, a smile plastered on her cute face.
Yoohyeon immediately lights up when she sees Minji, thanking the lord, maybe it’s a reward for agreeing to join the team. She doesn’t miss how Minji was staring at her, or how Minji’s cheeks turned a shade darker when they made eye contact. The $80 lululemon top was worth it. Ego now fueled and confidence going off the charts, Yoohyeon can’t help hiding her smile as she boldly struts towards Minji. Yoohyeon bends over a whole 90 degrees, bowing to the president in greeting.
“Hello Minji sunbaenim, I realized we haven’t properly met. I’m Kim Yoohyeon, second year, just transferred.” the silver haired girl energetically greets.
“Sunbaenim? Just call me Minji,” the president giggles. Minji thinks Yoohyeon resembles a cute (and large) dog. Yoohyeon extends a hand for Minji to shake.
The elder immediately stands up, bowing in retaliation. She receives the younger’s hand, shaking it, but continues to firmly hold it.
“Kim Minji, third year,” Minji reintroduces herself. “It’s nice to officially meet you Yoohyeon,”
“Yeah you too,”
The two completely disregard their last two meetings.
Minji quickly glances over Yoohyeon’s body again, wanting to admire the girl in their close proximity. Damn she’s fine, the president thinks to herself for the nth time. Afraid of being caught staring again, Minji remembers to smoothly cover up for herself.
“You look really nice today,” the president says, looking Yoohyeon directly in the eyes.
“Thanks, you look nice everyday,” Yoohyeon responds as calmly as possible, ignoring the fact that she can feel her blood rushing up to her face.
“Aww thank you, you’re very pretty Yoohyeon,” Minji comments, though she thinks she is just stating the obvious. Minji notices how the hand her own hand is clasped over has become a lot warmer. That reminded the president of the situation at hand. “Oh right, Yoohyeon, you’re here for your tryout right? I came to watch you. Are you feeling okay?”
Kim Minji came to watch me? Yoohyeon doesn’t know if she should be happy or even more stressed.
“Hahahaha, I’m scared for my life,” Yoohyeon halfheartedly jokes. She catches how Minji’s expression starts to turn into one of worry, “I’m kidding, I’m just kinda nervous, not gonna lie,”
Yoohyeon feels the grip on her hand reassuringly tighten.
“You’ll do great Yoohyeon, I believe in you,” Minji declares as she grabs hold of Yoohyeon’s other hand as well, looking up into the younger’s eyes.
The gym doors abruptly open. In walks the weirdly proportioned basketball coach, Mr Choi, closely followed behind by a relatively tall girl who has a basketball tucked under her arm.
“Oh I guess it’s time, good luck Yoohyeon.” Minji gives her one last encouraging smile before Yoohyeon reluctantly drags her own feet across the floor, finally having to face her inevitable fate.
“Ah, Yoohyeon! There’s my new secret weapon!” the coach greets. Secret weapon? Wtf! This guy has never even seen me do any type of physical activity before! “Yoohyeon, this is Ha Sooyoung, the team captain.”
Yoohyeon wonders if all the students at this school are pretty. Because Sooyoung? She’s really pretty, tall, has nice long hair, cute smile- Yoohyeon recollects herself. Not prettier than Minji of course.
After the two second years greet each other, the coach starts explaining how the tryout will work.
“Yoohyeon, you will be playing 1v1 against Sooyoung, if you can make twenty points within an hour, you’re on the team. Got it?”
“Yeah,”
“Okay, I’ll give you both ten minutes to stretch,”
Yoohyeon was planning to bomb this whole tryout, but her crush watching changes a few things. Being the cool basketball girlfriend wouldn’t be so bad would it?
The two second years make some small talk as they stretch, Yoohyeon successfully hiding the fact that she doesn’t want to be there at all.
“Do your worst Yoohyeon, I won’t be going easy on you,” Sooyoung jokes.
“Yes ma’am,” Yoohyeon jokes back(she is very scared).
Not far from the two athletes, Minji turns her head as she hears the door open, and the vice president of the student council walks in.
“Hey Jinsoul,”
“Hi Ms President, hiiiii Yoohyeon and hello Sooyoung,”
Yoohyeon looks up, Oh, it’s her. My crush and the girl who potentially likes me watching me. Yoohyeon awkwardly waves. Said vice president plops down next to Minji, her eyes still on Yoohyeon, who’s stiffly stretching, trying to somehow stay out of Jinsoul’s view.
“Have you finished everything already?” Minji questions.
“Yeah I did,” Jinsoul responds. “I just came to watch Yoohyeon,”
“You too?”
“Mhmm, She’s cute isn’t she,”
“Yeah..” She isn’t sure why, but this irks Minji a bit. It wasn’t that other people couldn’t find Yoohyeon cute or anything, Yoohyeon is cute, but Jinsoul purposely coming in to watch Yoohyeon? Minji does not like this at all. The president sees how her junior is staring at Yoohyeon, and it feels like there’s tape wrapped around and compressing her heart. But it isn’t like Yoohyeon is her’s or anything. Why does she feel like this? Maybe I want her to be mine-
A loud whistle blows Minji out of her thoughts.
“Okay you two! Gather ‘round! Like I said before, Yoohyeon, twenty points and you’re in!”
The coach tosses the ball up, and the time starts.
Yoohyeon, being slightly taller and having a larger wingspan, easily snatches the ball. She dribbles it a few times, between her legs, behind her back, her skills suddenly returning to her. Sooyoung just stands there, baffled at the taller girl’s talent. How am I supposed to steal that? I thought she said she hasn’t touched a basketball in a year, WTF! This is a set up!
Stealing a glance at Minji, Yoohyeon is determined. Furrowing her brows, she takes three long steps, hops up, shoots. Swish.
“Three pointer!” The coach shouts.
“WOHOOOO!” Jinsoul cheers from the side. Minji gives a little clap. Despite her small display of praise, the president is shocked alright. She didn’t expect Yoohyeon to be horrible at basketball, but this girl was great at it? What was she nervous about?
Sooyoung now has the ball, slightly irritated at how the newbie just shot on her like that. Managing to dribble past Yoohyeon to the hoop, Sooyoung shoots the ball, perfect form. Out of nowhere Yoohyeon jumps up, 60 inch vert and spikes the ball down like a volleyball. What the actual fuck.
“WOAH! Yoohyeon there with a great save!” announces Mr Choi.
The ball hits the ground at half court, Yoohyeon immediately catches it, as if she was waiting for it. Sooyoung is ready to snatch the ball out of Yoohyeon’s hands. I am not letting this girl get another point. Yoohyeon smirks, standing behind the half court line, the silver haired girl chucks the ball like an American football, not giving her opponent a chance of taking it. Sooyoung’s jaw drops, the ball perfectly passing through the hoop.
“HALF COURTER NO WAYYYY!!!!” The coach has never seen any student, or player ever make such a perfect shot.
The two student council members are also in shock.
“Wow, Yoohyeon’s so cool.” Jinsoul comments, bringing that suffocating feeling back in Minji’s chest.
The basketball game goes on like this for a while, Yoohyeon scoring every single time, blocking each and every one of Sooyoung’s shots. By the ten minute mark, Minji is almost certain Yoohyeon is just fooling around. The silver haired girl has turned her back to the hoop, thrown the ball over her head scoring another three points, blocked one of Sooyoung’s many attempted shots by booting it with her foot, and somehow making it into the hoop on the other side of the court. Before it has even been twenty minutes, the score is 19-0, Yoohyeon. Sooyoung has pretty much given up.
Spinning the leathery ball on her pointer finger, Yoohyeon stands at the center of the court, ready to make her last shot. Before dribbling the ball up, she turns to the side to face her crush.
“This one’s for you Minji!” Yoohyeon delivers with a wink. Smiling at the basketball star, Minji feels her heart swell, filling with pride from the fact Yoohyeon’s going to make a shot for her(and not Jinsoul). Minji looks to her side, smirking to herself as she notices Jinsoul pout, jutting her bottom lip out.
Yoohyeon swiftly dribbles past Sooyoung, hops the three steps and jumps up, dunking the ball cleanly through the hoop. Grabbing on the rim, Yoohyeon turns to face Minji (and a slightly disappointed Jinsoul) giving her a one handed thumbs up with a smile reaching her eyes.
“Clink, Clang.” Something doesn’t seem right. Yoohyeon feels the hoop she's hanging onto loosen. Before she can let go, the whole hoop, backboard and all, breaks off, falling down with Yoohyeon.
This time, Minji is not there to catch her.

Chapter Text
Minji jumps out of her seat in panic, her body becoming immoble as she watches Yoohyeon crash down with the basketball hoop. Yoohyeon lands feet first. A loud crack. Then a thump. The backboard of the hoop had fallen onto Yoohyeon’s left shoulder, the hoop narrowly missing her silver wisps of hair. Sooyoung’s scream rings out through the gym, Jinsoul is frozen in her seat. The basketball coach runs up, cursing under his breath while attempting to push the hoop off the injured and seemingly unconscious girl. Sooyoung is now in the back speed walking in circles, while monotonously repeating “what the fuck,” with her hands in her hair. Processing everything quickly after breaking out of her state of shock, Minji suppresses her emotions for later and sprints to Yoohyeon, Jinsoul following closely behind. Pushing the scrawny coach aside, adrenaline rushes through Minji’s system. She effortlessly picks up the hoop and throws it aside so it can’t hurt Yoohyeon further. The three bystanders flinch as the large object loudly crashes into the floor. Sooyoung stops walking in circles.
Though Yoohyeon is in need of immediate medical attention right now, Minji stops in her tracks just to stare in awe at the younger girl. If she didn’t know any better, she’d think Yoohyeon was posing for the front cover of a magazine, silver hair spread out on the floor in delicate waves, framing her face as if each lock was placed with utmost care. Minji thinks Yoohyeon looks almost at peace, pretty features rested as if she was sleeping, soft lips lighted parted. The president’s eyes scan over the rest of the girl’s body, wincing at how Yoohyeon’s right foot is pointing in a direction it should not be able to point in. Gulping down that uncomfortable feeling in her stomach, Minji places two fingers on the unconscious girl's neck, feeling for a pulse. It’s stable and normal. Sighing in relief, she tilts Yoohyeon’s head back a little, and gently places it back down seeing that her breathing seems to be normal too. Minji carefully pulls down the collar of Yoohyeon’s shirt, grimacing as she sees a dark red spot blemishing her skin of her left shoulder where the hoop was crushing.
Getting up from her knees, Minji turns to face the two second years and highschool basketball coach, who are awkwardly standing there like they’re waiting for the president to give them instructions on what to do next.
“She’ll be okay,” Minji says. “I’ll take her to the nurses office to get her fixed up.”
Jinsoul and Sooyoung offer to help, but Minji declines as if it’s her sole responsibility to take care of Yoohyeon. Everyone but Mr Choi seems to be relieved, the coach is probably pissed that his future star player will no longer be able to play and become his star player.
Minji delicately picks up Yoohyeon, trying her best to not put any unwanted pressure where it hurts and makes her way to the nurses office. The two other girls watch as Minji strolls past them with Yoohyeon in her arms. They turn to each other and simultaneously shrug.
Warm streaks of light pry through Yoohyeon’s eyes, flooding her darkened vision with brightness. She squints. Everything hurts. Well, it’s mostly her shoulder and ankle, but they both hurt enough to make it feel like her whole body is in pain. Something seems to be making her ankle feel a little better. Yoohyeon looks down and there she is, Kim Minji her lord and saviour, carefully, but tightly wrapping gauze around her ankle (which is now positioned correctly as Minji had not so gently relocated it into the right position. Minji’s just glad Yoohyeon was unconscious during that.).
“Minji?” Yoohyeon weakly calls out, trying not to groan from her state of injury.
“Oh my god, you’re awake. Yoohyeon you're going to be alright. You’re in the nurse's office right now. I brought you here after you fell.” Minji informs as she swiftly finishes wrapping up Yoohyeon’s ankle. Yoohyeon attempts to sit up to see Minji face to face, but Minji places her back down. “Hey don’t try to sit up yet okay? I haven't treated your shoulder yet.”
Yoohyeon complies without a word. She really wants to thank Minji for everything, but the pain is a little too much for her to bear. She watches silently as Minji gathers more things from the medicine cabinet. Yoohyeon feels like the sound of her own heartbeat is the loudest thing in the room. Minji walks back over to where Yoohyeon is laying on her bed and places the items she gathered on the bedside table.
“Yoohyeon, is it okay if I take off your shirt? I need to put ointment and a patch on it,” Minji says, squatting down to reach Yoohyeon’s eye level. Yoohyeon gulps at their close proximity and blushes even more after taking in the older girl’s request. Minji’s soft eyes immediately notice Yoohyeon’s discomfort and assumes that she is uncomfortable, causing her to slip out of her medical professional poise. “UHM- You don’t have to if you don’t want to, sorry. I’ll leave the room and you can do it yourself if you want,”
“No!” Yoohyeon cringes at herself. Maybe that was a little too desperate. “Please stay, I don’t even think I can take my shirt off by myself,” she lightly chuckles. Minji returns a laugh. Giggling, they make eye contact, smiling before remembering what they have to do next. Minji clears her throat and gestures at Yoohyeon’s shoulder.
“May I?”
Yoohyeon nods and Minji helps her sit up just enough so that she can lift the shirt off, one hand supporting the younger’s back and the other behind her head. Minji takes it off in one swift motion, making sure Yoohyeon doesn’t have to twist her arms in any uncomfortable way. She lays the girl back down and starts gently rubbing the ointment on the large red bruise. Yoohyeon feels comfortable with Minji. She watches as Minji’s sole focus is on her wound; the older girl had not even glanced at her body otherwise. Minji finishes off with a medicinal patch, which she gives a few extra to Yoohyeon, instructing her to put on a new one every few hours. Soon Yoohyeon’s shirt is back where it should be, and Minji has helped her pack up her things.
“Sorry Yoohyeon, I looked in the storage room and I don’t think they have crutches,” Minji sighs. That damned school nurse can’t even do her job right. (The nurse’s shift is supposed to end an hour after the school day ends, but it seems like she gave herself an early dismissal). “I’ll walk you home though, is that okay?”
“I’d like that.”
The pair steadily make their way out of the school. Minji has Yoohyeon’s arm draped over her so she can support some of the injured girl’s weight.
“I’m guessing no more basketball for you for a while,” Minji jokes as they walk past the gym. The lights are turned off inside, suggesting Coach and company probably have left.
“Yeah,” Yoohyeon answers. There’s no sadness in her voice. “To be honest, I wasn’t even planning of trying to get on the team, so I don’t really mind,”
“Oh really?” Minji is a little shocked, but not disappointed. She’s surprised about how straightforward Yoohyeon is with her. “Even if you tried or not, you did great out there,”
“Thanks,” Yoohyeon breaks out in a smile. Then she remembers, “Wait, it's mandatory for me to be in a club though, right?”
“Yeah, but I bet you can stay on the basketball team and not play until you get better,” Minji explains. “But if that bores you, how about you be my assistant in the student council?”
Normally Yoohyeon would be fine with not doing anything and avoid the student council like the plague, but how could she say no to Minji?
“Uhm- Yeah, sure, thank you, that would be great.”
The two make it out of the school, giggling and trying not to trip on the way. Outside they are greeted by a familiar scenery; the rays of the setting sun paint the sky with a warm orange hue. Yoohyeon finds it funny how yesterday she was in the same place, watching Minji from afar. Now the president is attached to her side, practically supporting half of Yoohyeon’s body weight. It’s crazy how much has happened in one school day.
“The view’s really pretty,” Minji says. Yoohyeon stares at Minji as she gazes at the sky. She can see the reflection of the beautiful scenery in Minji’s even more so beautiful eyes. Yoohyeon’s own eyes widen as she watches Minji’s pupil’s shift in her direction, causing the girl caught staring to whip her head in the other direction.
“You’re prettier,” Yoohyeon compliments in an attempt to cover up her actions (which makes them even more obvious).
Minji pats Yoohyeon on the head twice in response.
“Hahahah Yoohyeon you’re so silly,”
Yoohyeon turns red.
The walk to Yoohyeon’s house is not very long, which Yoohyeon considers herself lucky for, bearing in mind her current condition, but not so much as her time with Minji will soon end. They make light conversation on the way, Yoohyeon laughing at MInji’s display of many corny dad jokes. She really didn’t think a person of Minji’s character would be into those, but that just made her much more interesting. And maybe it was because it was Minji who was telling them, but Yoohyeon genuinely found her jokes funny.
They soon make it to Yoohyeon’s block.
“Oh, here’s my house.” Yoohyeon sighs.
“No way, I live that blue house two blocks down,”
“What really? I always wondered who lived there, how come I’ve never seen you around?”
“To be honest, I don’t go out that much ‘cus I’m so preoccupied with school and classes, you know,” Minji sounds somewhat dejected. Yoohyeon quickly catches on.
“Aww that’s okay, I’ll take you out then,” jokes Yoohyeon (in all seriousness she really means it).
“How about when you can walk properly on your own,” Minji responds, her mood quickly brightening up.
“Well, that’s what you’ll be there for right?”
“Hey!”
Yoohyeon earns a playful slap on her shoulder wound, to which she dramatically winces at, acting like she got shot. Minji hits her again, and she drops the act with a small “sorry” and a big smile on her face.
“You know I know where you live now, so I could crawl through your window and slap you in your sleep,” Yoohyeon emptily threatens, as if she’s not currently clinging onto Minji for dear life.
“Yeah, I’d like to see you try that with that ankle,” Minji laughs.
Minji helps Yoohyeon walk up her front porch and watches the silver haired girl struggle to jam her keys in the lock with one hand, while trying to balance on her good foot.
“Here, let me help,” Minji stands behind Yoohyeon, wrapping her left arm around Yoohyeon’s waist to stabilize her. Yoohyeon feels her heart rate go up at Minji’s touch.
With her other hand, Minji holds the hand Yoohyeon has the key in and guides it into the hole. “Click,” with a twist, the door unlocks.
“Thanks, Minji,” Yoohyeon says. Minji has done so much more for her than just open a door and she thinks a thank you is definitely not enough. This day alone probably made Yoohyeon’s fondness towards Minji increase by a tenfold. “ Thanks for everything, I really mean it. I owe you one big time,”
“Awww, worry about it, I couldn’t leave you crippled on the floor could I?” The pair share a last laugh before they have to part ways. “Also, I’ll give you my number, call me whenever you need something or just if you wanna talk okay? Wait, I don't have any loose paper, is it okay if I write it on your hand?”
Yoohyeon nods. She’s ecstatic. She fears if she opens her mouth to talk she’d accidently squeal and scare Minji away. MInji pulls out a permanent marker, holding Yoohyeon’s hand still with one hand (Yoohyeon is visibly trembling) and gently writing with the other.
“Okay, done!! Text me okay?”
“I will,”
Minji opens the door for Yoohyeon and engulfs her in a maybe a little too tight hug before she goes.
“Be careful, Yoohyeon” Minji mumbles into Yoohyeon’s shoulder. Yoohyeon pats MInji’s back.
“I will.”

Chapter Text
The following day, Yoohyeon finds herself in math, sitting beside a concerned Siyeon, who finds it extremely odd how the taller girl is giggling and crouched over her uh- hand?
"Hey, what are you staring at?” Siyeon questions. The entire morning, Siyeon has grown increasingly concerned for her dear friend, who has barely spoken a word aside from a giddy “HI” and occasional spurts of giggles. Did she get hit in the head during basketball?
Yoohyeon shrinks away into her desk as Siyeon tries to take a peek at her hand, releasing a chain of giggles while simultaneously kicking her feet like a hyper child.
“What are you hiding?” Slightly fed up, Siyeon swiftly grabs Yoohyeon’s wrist as if she were catching a fish with her bare hands and manually unfolds each of Yoohyeon’s fingers out of a fist. Siyeon gasps, “This is..."
“MINJI’S NUMBER!!!” Yoohyeon squeals. She takes Siyeon by her hands and forces her to hop around in a circle with her before settling back down (yes, Yoohyeon’s ankle is still kind of broken, and she’s been using crutches).
“I haven’t washed my hand since yesterday.” Yoohyeon brags.
Siyeon violently retracts her hand. She visibly retches and aggressively wipes her hands on her skirt.
"Anyways—how did you get it?” The older girl is pretty puzzled at how her loserish (lovingly) friend managed to get the most sought-after girl in the school’s number. Only the closest of Minji’s friends had her number; many of her pursuers prepared a grand confession just for the tiny chance of getting her digits and are left with a short, blunt response, “Sorry, no,”.
Yoohyeon recalls the day before and explains everything in great detail. And well, Siyeon is definitely shocked. By now most students had heard word of Yoohyeon’s basketball tryout, Siyeon included. Only that most of the student body’s information was based off of seeing Yoohyeon limping around with crutches or gossip circulating throughout the school. The source of said gossip being the first-hand witnesses themselves, Jeong Jinsoul and Ha Sooyoung. Of course, gossip isn’t necessarily bad. On Jinsoul’s part, she spent her morning flaunting to all her friends (she has a lot of friends) about how Yoohyeon is so great at basketball, and it’s devastating how she got hurt. On the other hand, Sooyoung spread word of Ms. President Minji’s great deeds in aiding an injured Yoohyeon (which Jinsoul somewhat refuses to acknowledge).
Word spreads quickly, and Yoohyeon seems to have gotten a bit popular. Is that a good thing? In Yoohyeon’s mind, random people’s stares in the halls are a little unsettling, but she deems the elephant in the room to be her thumping around in crutches rather than her own popularity. The waves and smiles of her peers say otherwise. She also had heard a few whispers that went along the lines of, "Maybe I should fall down the stairs in front of Ms. President. That Yoohyeon girl sure is lucky."” Yoohyeon is just happy Minji has so many supporters.
“She took off your shirt? Damn, not even a week has passed since you’ve met her, and y'all are already moving fast.” Siyeon teases, brushing her fingers over the collar of Yoohyeon’s shirt.
Yoohyeon turns beet red.
“It was for medical reasons! Minji is a proper and classy woman!” Yoohyeon states firmly in retaliation.
“Right.. I don’t know if I can say the same about you."
“HEY!”
Siyeon gets smacked in the head.
Lunch time rolls around, and Yoohyeon is seated at a round table in the cafeteria, nibbling at her roast beef sandwich. On her right sits Siyeon, who’s aggressively trying to cut a steak, creating a horrible screeching sound of her cutlery scratching against the plate. The sheer amount of force she’s using to grind the stiff meat causes the whole table to shake Across from Yoohyeon sits an agitated Yubin, who just wants to eat her fried rice in peace. Yubin gets increasingly visibly annoyed as her spoon starts to tremble, spilling a few grains of rice back into her tupperware. Yoohyeon seems unphased.
“GIRL STOP! IS YOUR STEAK COOKED WELL DONE?? WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR YOU TO CUT IT??”
“SORRY BRO I’M USING A BUTTER KNIFE I DON'T WANNA GET SUSPENDED. I LIKE MY STEAK MEDIUM RARE BY THE WAY.”
“UGH.” Yubin rolls her eyes. She bends over and rummages through her bag, then sits up a few seconds later, hands wearing food-safe gloves in one hand and holding a pair of scissors in the other. She snatches Siyeon’s massacred steak (that’s somehow still in one piece) and snips it up into little strips as if Siyeon were a little toddler who is only capable of consuming anti-chokable food.
“Thanks Binnie!!” Siyeon pinches both of Yubin’s cheeks with her steak juice covered fingers and leans in, trying to give her a kiss on her forehead.
“EUAGH!! GET OFF OF ME!” The victim vigorously swings her arms around and begins to frantically rub her face with tissues after breaking free. It takes her a moment to recover. “Ahem. Anyways. So Yoohyeon, you think Minji likes you back?”
“How’d this conversation turn on me????” Yoohyeon, feeling targeted, hides her face behind her half-eaten sandwich. She mumbles out, “I don’t even know if Minji likes girls like that.”
“Hello friends!” A booming but familiar voice arrives, scaring Yoohyeon from behind her sandwich. It’s Bora, and trailing closely behind her is:
“Hi guys,” Minji greets, looking as pretty as usual.
“Speak of the devil (in this case, angel; ‘cus well, it’s Minji)," Siyeon aggressively mouths to Yoohyeon. Yoohyeon rolls her eyes, masking the fact that her heart rate just increased by double the healthy amount.
“I came here to see my beautiful girlfriend,” Bora states while back hugging Siyeon, who’s nonchalantly eating her scissor-minced steak. She feeds Bora a piece. “Minji also came to see her beautiful gir- Mmm, this is yummy what is it?”
Yoohyeon reddens. Yubin raises a brow at Yoohyeon. Minji walks over to Yoohyeon, seemingly unaware and unphased by Bora’s words.
“Hey Yoohyeon, are you feeling better? How’s your ankle? And the bruise, did the ointment help?” All of Minji’s worries spew out, like a concerned mother to her child. Minji is very motherly. Yoohyeon assures her that she’s feeling better, and Minji kneels down on one knee to check on her ankle. The rest of the group silently stares as Minji changes the gauze Yoohyeon’s ankle, giving each other knowing glances.
“This is gay,” Yubin whispers under her breath.
A silent moment filled with homoerotic tension passes, and Yoohyeon’s ankle is all freshly wrapped.
“Thank you, Minji,” Yoohyeon gives Minji a grateful smile.
“AHHHHHHHHH!!!!” suddenly a scream rings out, seemingly coming from the hallways.
“SOMEONE GET THE PRESIDENT!”
Minji’s gaze slowly pans from Yoohyeon’s lovely face towards the source of the noise, her originally soft expression changing stern. Minji hesitantly gets up to her feet at the mention of her title. She uncharacteristically lets a tentative “UGH” slip out under her breath (which her surrounding friends hear). They all give each other the knowing “she’s annoyed that her time with her dear underclassmen is getting cut short” look.
"Well, it looks like I gotta go guys; see you later.” Minji masks her displeasure with her usual pretty smile as her government-assigned duties get the better of her homosexual tendencies. She waves to the group over her shoulder as she walks away. Her eyes linger on Yoohyeon’s for a little longer. Yoohyeon gives a small wave back along with a tight-lipped grin. Minji thinks getting through another day will be a little easier.
With Ms. President gone, Yoohyeon’s friend group is left with the person who knows Minji the best in the whole school. Yubin is quick to jump on the perfect opportunity of Minji’s best friend being alone to interrogate her for information. Bora is fooling around with Siyeon while still eating Siyeon’s steak bits.
“Hey Bora, do you know if Minjis likes girls?” Yubin very straightforwardly asks,
Bora tentatively puts a piece of meat she was chewing on and looks off into space in thought.
“To be honest.. I don’t really know!!” Bora says with such enthusiasm that it makes the others at the table feel less hopeful than they did moments ago. “We never really talked about that, like yeah, I’m gay, obviously, but you know I’ve never questioned her or forced her to tell me if she was. She’s never been boy crazy though, that’s for sure.”
"Well, has Minji ever acted how she does around Yoohyeon to other people?” Siyeon thoguthfully asks. Bora pauses to further delve deeper into her thoughts.
“URETHA!!” Our sixth grade English teacher, Ms. Watson!”
Everyone aside from Bora looks at each other in utter confusion.
“Damn, I never took her as a milf hunter,” Yubin comments.
“Nahh, it’s just that Minji thinks it’s hot when someone can speak multiple languages—Yoohyeon, why are you shaking?” Bora says as she sees a silverhaired figure shivering in her peripheral vision. Yoohyeon turns red. "What? Can you speak another language?
“Yeah.. I’m fluent in English.”
“Prove it!” Bora matter-of-factly states, putting her hands on her hips.
“ Suck my DICK!” Yoohyeon retorts. Bora looks around at her peers at the table.
“Does anyone know what she said?”
Everyone shrugs. Yoohyeon refuses to elaborate. They move on.
"Wait, Minji gets confessed to a lot, right?” Yubin inquires, breaking the momentary silence.
“Yeah, why’d you ask?” responds Bora.
“Have any of them been girls?”
“Yeah, everyone likes Minji; there’s probably someone in this cafeteria right now who has a crush on her.”
Everyone stares at Yoohyeon.
“WHAT?! Discuss this without me.” Yoohyeon feels quite targeted. ”I am going to enjoy my food in peace.”
The other three flash Yoohyeon a thumbs up and an awkward smile, and Yoohyeon retreats behind her sandwich.
“Okay, so we just need to know if MInji responds differently between guys and girls.” Yubin wittingly suggests.
“Hmmmmm, to be honest, I only stay when a guy confesses so I can laugh at them, and I like to walk away when a girl does to give them privacy.” Bora’s heterophobia is very clearly showing.
“Well, how does she usually react to guys?”
“She always says something like, ‘Sorry, I’m not interested, or ‘I don’t even know you, even if the guy is literally in one of her classes.”
"Hmmm, okay.” A plan starts coming together in Yubin's head. “All we need is to get a girl with a chronic case of gayface to confess to Minji and see how she reacts to them. Gayface is necessary, so Minji is aware!!
Everyone starts glancing at Yubin herself, even Yoohyeon, who’s “not participating” in their endeavors.
[This is where it transitions to my planned writing which is all uncapitialized no puntuation but it gets the message across I hope]
yubs: Why is everybody staring at me??? my mom and minjis mom are besties how am i supposed to face her and minji at our monthly lunches after i get rejected AND i dont even like her like that
bora: (rolls her eyes) fineeee okay everyone look around for a girl who looks gay
the four stare around the room (word it funnier)
siyeon: there ‼️
she points at kim lip (call her jungeun) blond severe case of gayface: incurable sitting next to sooyoung and a girl with bangs manspreading and wearing extra large jean shorts?? thats not even part of the uniform???? and her collared shirt (the only thing shes wearing thats part of the uniform) happens to have the first few buttons unbuttoned.
bora: bingo. wow yubin she almost has it as bad as you actually, almost worse i think!!
yubin: fuck you
bora: okay guys ill be right back
siyeon: no ill go you dont even know her and im in the same grade as her
bora sits back down knowing thats she shouldnt go up to some stranger and ask them to do unspeakable things (change later) and starts having. a staring contest with yubin while yoohyeon covers her face getting secondhand embarrassment from watching siyeon
———
siyeon (high pitchier voice) : hi sooyoung hi jiwoo hi jungeun!! i was wondering if i could borrow jungeun for sec if thats okay
jungie (caught off guard stares at sooyoung andchuu): uhm uhh okay
sooyoung gives her an equally confused look and shrugs
they go to hallways outside cafeteria
jungie: uhm how can i help you..?
siyeon: ahhh yes (clasps her hands together loudly making jungie flinch) i was wondering if you could pretend you have a crush on kim minji and confess to her
jungie: uhhhh why?
siyeon: statistics!! (doesn’t elaborate further)
jungie: (thinks a little first) uhm okay whats in it for me
siyeon: well what do you want ☺️
jungie: after getting rejected by the school president who i dont even actually have a crush on, i think id like a girlfriend
siyeon: yes okay we can do that!! (shes lying)
jungie: fr?
siyeon: yup!! ☺️
yoohyeon finds herself peeking around a corner of the halls after school with siyeon bora and kim jungeun crouched behind her. yubin had run off long ago to not be involved even though it was her idea to begin with. the three are currently watching and following an unsuspecting Kim minji who is heading to the student council room (describe how its separate from the school like in yagakimi)
They have the misfortune of running into lee gahyeon
Gahyeon: HI guys-
Everyone: SHHHHHHHH
Bora mouths ILL TELL YOU LATER to gahyeon
gahyeon(whisperyells): wait i wanna join!!
instead gahyeon hides behind the wall with them in silence(she doesnt know whats going on but wants to be included) (she comes up with the idea to get jungie with jinsoul)
they successfully follow minji out of the school and outside on the path to the student council room. the room used to be the art room but no one used it so it became the student council room. minji had sent yoohyeon a map to the room, but yoohyeon and co figured following minji there would be easier.
bora: alright go !!
as she roughly pushes jungie out of the bush. jungeun stumbles a little but dusts herself off as shes abt to make the grandest love proposal in her life. she pushes a right airpod extra deep into her ear out of fear of it falling out. before yubin left she had found this walky talky app wear two people each wear one airpod and theyre able to record and hear eachothers conversation. siyeon has the other airpod and notebook and pen in hand.
siyeon: go get her girl!!
yooh: yeah but dont actually pls!!
jungeun winces as theyre a little too loud and she can hear them not only from the airpod but also from the bush itself.
yoohyeon (insecure): what if minji doesnt reject her
bora(looking yooh dead in the eyes): she wont trust me
yoohyeon hopes she can trust her.
woohooo change to minji pov
think i’ll summarize cus ill just end up typing the final draft okaayy
minjis walking to student council room giddier than usual cus of a certain someone whose first day is today and then boom kim lip
minji notices how kim lip does not sound very interested in her at all
kim lip not good at acting
kim lip: uhm kim minji?
minji is a little taken aback by how lippie addresses her informally (even tho she has let yoohyeon call her that the whole time without even asking)
minji: yes?
lip: uhhh i think youre really pretty and nice and beautiful and uhh (bora shouts into the mic (she had stolen the airpod from siyeon) LOVELY!! lovely..
they heard boras voice from the distance, causing minji to look that way but lip steps in the way to block her view
lip: so id like to ask you out on a date
the other four behind the bush all smush their heads over one small airpod to hear their heavily anticipated response (gahyeon still doesn’t really know what’s happening but shes enjoying poking fun at her counsin)
minji: awww thats so sweet youre pretty too and i bet your nice and lovely too but sorry i dont really feel the same. i hope you find someone who can treat you right and love you tho
lip: alright thanks!!
minji finds it odd but funny how lip (refer to lip as the girl or smth cus minji dont know her) seems relieved and happier than she was before
palms collectively smack their own faces as they realize minji doesnt even know who jungeun is. but nevertheless, they got their needed info.
siyeon: okay so what does this tell us
bora: well she complimented her, which she NEVER does to men, wished her well for the future, which she also NEVER does with men. id say yoohs safe
the dots start connecting jn her head and gahyeon catches on: OHHH you guys are trying to figure out of minji likes girls? dw i gotchu
gahyeon runs past a jungie whose returning to the bush and goes up to her pretty slightly confused cousin
gahyeon: heyy unnie can i ask you something
minji: yeah sure hyeonnie what do you need
gahyeon: do you like girls? like would you date one?
minji thinks for a little bit turns a slight shade pinker: hmmm i think i would
gahyeon: okay!! thank you
she returns to the group doing a heel click like a leprechaun on the way back
gahyeon: okay i just asked her she said she likes girls
the others jaws all drop in shock
yooh: that easily??
siyeon: yubins gonna laugh at us
bora: well it was HER idea i think we should be laughing at her
jungeun: damn whatd yall need me to embarrass myself like that for youre still gonna get me a girlfriend right?
gahyeon: a girlfriend you say..
gahyeon peeks her head out of the bush and peers into the student council room
gahyeon: that girl with blue hair was staring at you a lot kinda when you were walking back to the bush im like 95% sure she was here
gahyeon pulls a crumpled kinda gross looking crumply small piece of paper with faded blue writing on it and something cleanly written on top.
yoohyeon: is that..
gahyeon: yup! its yours right? i found it on the floor and was abt to give it back to you but you walked away and it was soggy so i didnt think you wanted it!! hope thats okay i deciphered what it said too here you go miss

Notes:
when i first started this fic i was in the second semester of my first year of highschool and now im three months away from graduating.. its the end of a short era for me. ive also been away ao3 in general because ive grown out of kpop a little bit (tho i will aways cherish the beautiful women ive stanned)
thank you guys a lot. it notifies me whenever someone leaves kudos and i remembered i had this fic bcus of that and guys we surpassed 100 kudos over a year ago!
i wanted to thank you guys a lot like it makes me happy that over 100 people like my writing 😸 and i know how it feels to be left hanging by a fic so yeah my goal is to eventually finish this but ngl guys i have not thought of any plot beyond the end of this chapter 😭 and i havent read enough completed fics to know how to end one either! however, i do cherish this fic a lot and i actually do read it for my own enjoyment (the entire story is catered around my own desires, but idk how ill feel writing about highschoolers when i wont be a highschooler anymore) 😭.
thank you to everyone who's read this and i hope nobody is too sad about dreamcatcher like i still have hope because they havent disbanded and yeah !! hope everything goes well for everyone in the future and that we can all walk down the flowery path 🫶
gootbye everyone !! ive had a good time here
