“Oh, I see, that’s good,” Daniel says. “Look, I wanted to ask you… Would you mind if I move to your mansion tomorrow?”
“That’s why you’re calling?” Kyle smiles, shaking his head in disbelief, rolling his eyes. “Firstly, it’s not a mansion—”
“The fuck it isn’t! You can put up a whole basketball team in that house. I think you can perfectly spare your big brother a room… besides, when you arrive, we’ll have more time to talk.” He’s not seen Kyle since Christmas and that was a few months ago, so this could be a chance to catch up.
“I admit it’s big but I wouldn’t say it’s a mansion. And you know we got it because Levi is a security freak and that’s the one he liked, so I wasn’t gonna argue with him because of a few rooms, okay?” And the truth is that he loves the pool so that was an extra point not to argue with Levi over his choice.
“Yeah, it’s a fucking mansion but hey, that’s a great thing because I know Ilya is gonna stay with you, so you’ll have no problem with me staying too. I know dad has a spare key in case they need to let the gardener in or anything happens.” Because obviously Kyle doesn’t use that house very often and somebody needs to take care of the garden from time to time and clean the house.
Kyle snorts, “Yeah, right… no, I think you should stay where you are.”
“Kyle, what the fuck? You let the brat stay but I can’t?” Daniel would deny it but that came out totally like whining, and Kyle finds it absolutely cute and hilarious.
“Yeeeah…The brat isn’t a wolf. And on top of that, he’s fucking deaf… You, on the other hand… ”
“Seriously? That’s what this is all about?” Daniel snorts. “You’re being fucking prejudicial, you know that?”
“Maybe. Prejudicial or not, you’re staying put where you are. Don’t you miss your old room?”
“No, I don’t. I don't miss shit. And I’m not staying with those two when you have a thousand rooms available just a few streets from here." Daniel sighs. "You know, celibacy for a few days would definitely be a good thing for your relationship… Just think about it, okay?—When you came back home, sex would be incredible...” Daniel offers.
Kyle laughs. “Are you gonna make Levi that proposal?”
“I’m being serious.” Not that Daniel expected Kyle to take it seriously but he thought he could try.
“I know." Kyle nods, smiling. "That’s what makes it so funny.” He knows his brother was joking but trying to get him to let him stay with him at the same time.
“Look, the fact that you don’t let me stay because you think I’m gonna listen to you two having sex is absolutely ridiculous.”
“Ridiculous or not, it’s a fact that you can and I know Levi wouldn’t feel comfortable, and then, yeah, abstinence is gonna end up happening and I’ll be on holiday when I get there and I wanna enjoy my time with my boyfriend as must as possible, and… why?… why do I have to give you any freaking explanation?” Kyle rolls his eyes, shaking his head… wondering how the conversation ended up where it is right now.
“Kyle, all I’m saying—”
“Besides,” Kyle interrupts his brother, “there’s nothing wrong with the good old Stilinski-Whittemore household—”
“You’re wrong,” Daniel interrupts this time. “You’re fucking wrong, okay? I just argued with them. That’s why I don’t wanna stay here. Apart from that, I haven’t seen you and Ilya in a long time… so forgive me if I thought that you might like the idea of a Beacon Hills brotherly reunion for a few days.”
Kyle frowns, biting his lower lip as he considers Daniel’s words.
“What happened? What did you argue about?” Kyle finally asks.
“What happened?” Daniel’s sarcastic tone is something Kyle hadn’t heard in a while and he can’t help the smile on his face when he hears it. It’s just something that he does that always reminds him of Stiles and it will never stop being funny.
“Yeah—It’s obvious you’re pissed… what the hell happened?” Kyle frowns.
Daniel snorts. “Fine. I know they don’t want me to tell anybody who doesn’t know… but…” Daniel hesitates for a moment, “you’re their son… and this is fucked up… that’s why you should fucking know—”
“You’re not making any sense, you know that? What’s this thing I don’t know?” Kyle asks, starting to lose his patience.
“You could have been to a funeral a month ago. That’s what you don’t know—What Ilya doesn’t know either.”
“What are you talking about?” Kyle frowns.
“Our father almost died… That’s what I found out today."
"What?" Kyle asks, unintentionally raising his voice.
"He had a spontaneous abortion—Which means he could be dead right now and they were never gonna tell us.”
“Wait. An abortion? What the fuck? How—I mean, this is… fucking…” Kyle closes his eyes trying to find the words but he’s having many difficulties doing it.
“Insane?” Daniel offers.
“Well, that too, yeah. I was gonna say weird… it’s fucking weird… I don’t get it…” Kyle admits.
“What’s the part you don’t get exactly?” Daniel raises his eyebrows. “The part where he was pregnant or the part where he almost died?”
“Shit, Daniel. Just the whole thing. Can’t you just tell me what happened?” Kyle insists.
“There’s not much to tell. According to what they told me, and I guess we’ll have to trust that… he fainted, Deaton and Melissa opened him up and realized that the internal hemorrhage was the consequence of a miscarriage—”
