Once A Ranger

Summary:

Izuku Midoriya isn't exactly what he seems. That isn't because of a quirk or anything, but, well . . .

"Midoriya set his teacup down on the coaster again, smirking mischievously as he answered with a question. 'Would you believe me if I said it was magic?'"

Notes:

A/N : I know that it’s been a while since I posted anything, but life’s been busy for me. I officially started college, and I severely underestimated how little time I’d actually have. I guess that’s what I deserve after taking 18 credits in each semester.

Anyways, this is a one-shot, with the possibility of more one-shots set within the same universe if I either feel like it or if there’s a demand for it.

Also, RIP Jason David Frank. The man was easily one of the major pillars of my childhood, and so to understand that I won’t be able to see him in new things is just terrible.

DISCLAIMER: I don’t own either Power Rangers or My Hero Academia; I’m just playing in their sandboxes.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Why is it always me? Izuku asked himself as he ducked under the clumsy punch of a thug. He seriously didn’t do anything to merit such a response - he’d only been walking past them, when he saw them trying to stick up a woman with shoulder length red hair, before shouting for them to leave her alone. Of course, they hadn’t taken too kindly to this, but it didn’t matter a ton, since he was more than capable of handling this. Still, he wondered why they decided to attack him.

Dodging another slow blow, Izuku looked down at himself, examining himself for any major flaw. It’s not like I’m some scrawny shrimp or disabled or something else that would make me an easier target, so why do they always decide to attack me? He grabbed the thug’s arm and tossed him into a brick wall, before chopping the man’s throat quickly, knocking him out. The rest of the remaining criminals abandoned their attempted victim to avenge their fallen ally. Izuku sighed quietly as he dropped into a better stance, quipping, “Why do you guys never seem to learn?”

“What do you mean you guys ?” A female thug asked him, her face turning red as she charged forward.

Immediately Izuku turned bright red as he ducked under the blow, throwing his leg out and sweeping her legs out from under her. “S-s-sorry! I meant it in the sense of- you know like a group is ma-”

He was interrupted by one of the woman’s friends taking a swipe at his face, which he blocked, before looking down at his wrist. “That is so not cool.” He flipped backwards, kicking off the wall as he did so, landing beside the offender and spinning around, his leg extended. He caught the edge of their chin, sending him flying. He returned to his feet, staring down the two remaining thugs as he reached for his pocket, “I’ll give you guys a chance to go before I call the police.”

The two looked at eachother, before they flickered between two images; the thugs and creepy gray beings in tattered brown robes. Izuku’s eyes hardened, “I see.” He moved closer to the two, grabbing a boxy item that glinted under the streetlight off his belt and showing it to them. “I don’t know who it is that you serve, but they’ve made a mistake sending you guys. Go back to your master, whether that’s Rita, the Master, or some other would-be conqueror, that Earth is still protected.”

The two gray claymations glanced at each other, before turning back to him and screeching in a wooping, indecipherable language. They disappeared in a flash of red, along with their friends, leaving him alone with their attempted victim. “W-what were they?!” The victim shrieked, breathing rapidly and searching all around her. “A-aliens?! Monsters?!”

Izuku slowly walked up to her, carefully maintaining eye contact as he spoke, “They’re a group of villains that have appeared in the area recently, themed around monsters. I’ve had some experience with them, but don’t worry, they’re honestly more bark than bite.”

The woman’s breathing slowed as she placed a hand over her heart, before shaking her head. “What am I doing? T-thank you for saving me! Are you a Pro Hero?”

Izuku chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his head as he responded, “Something like that. I just happen to find myself in trouble a lot.” Izuku let out a breath as he backed away, looking down at his watch as he whistled, “It’s pretty late, so why don’t you go on back home, ma’am? I’m sure that those guys won’t bother you again.”

She nodded, walking away on unsteady feet as Izuku watched on, making sure that she left the alley, before he slid down the wall, clutching his watch. He pressed a button on the side, bringing it up to his mouth and stating, “I don’t know who, but someone’s sending down Hideaks, DECA. Not just any Hideaks either; they’re able to imitate humans, meaning that someone’s enchanting them. And I’m not sure if it’s just me, but they’re coming more frequently now and in greater numbers too, which means that someone is mass-producing these things.”

“DO YOU BELIEVE IT TO BE THE MASTER, RITA, OR ZEDD TO BE BEHIND THIS?” A voice chirped out.

Izuku sighed, picking himself back up off the ground. “I don’t know, but it’s certainly their MO to try and attack a city inhabited by a Ranger.” He frowned for a second, before continuing, “Still though, usually those three would announce themselves with some monster or Goldar, if our records are right.”

“PERHAPS THEY’RE LAYING LOW TO ASCERTAIN THE VIABILITY OF INVASION AFTER THEIR DEFEATS A MILLENIA AGO,” DECA remarked, before continuing, “RETURN TO THE COMMAND CENTER, IZUKU.”

Izuku nodded, “Alright. See you there!” He pressed a button on the watch, before disappearing in a flash of red.

In the area, a man in a black jumpsuit sighed and rubbed his eyes. “I’m too old for this sort of thing.”

Shouta Aizawa wasn’t a particularly bad tracker, in fact, he regarded himself as a pretty good one. However, even with a knowledge of his target’s appearance and at least half of a name, he couldn’t find the kid. Which brought him to . . . “Well, this is a conundrum, isn’t it, Aizawa?”

Nedzu. The bear . . . dog . . . mouse . . . thing interlocked its fingers together, looking at the teacher. “I’ve tried searching government records, social media, everything. It’s like this kid doesn’t even exist, or . . . that someone’s trying to hide him.”

The animal sipped at a cup of tea, humming quietly. “So you want me to try and find your mystery hero?” Aizawa nodded, and Nedzu smiled widely, which made the former feel somewhat uneasy. “Very well, I accept. I’ll need the boy’s name and description.”

Aizawa provided the details, watching the Principal of UA type on his laptop rapidly. However, as the minutes passed by, he could see the growing mix of frustration and admiration on the chimera’s face. “What’s going on, Nedzu?”

The chimera ceased his actions, instead grabbing at the teacup and taking a long sip. “Hm. Your missing child seems to have a talented protector, one that can keep up with me and my, if I may be somewhat prideful, own superb hacking skills.” Another sip. “Perhaps there might be one area that they haven't, or rather can’t access.”

“And what would that be?”

“Perhaps it would be helpful for you to peruse the Government Office of Certificates, and look at every male named Izuku in the nation.” Nedzu took another sip of tea, before continuing, “It’ll take a while, but unless this boy has a friend in high places, some official records should exist on paper.”

Aizawa nodded slowly, before standing up and making his way to the door. As his hand touched the doorknob, he stopped, and asked, “What if this doesn’t work?”

Nedzu smiled pleasantly, “Then you’ll just need to keep an eye out for him.”

Izuku couldn’t help but feel . . . small when he looked at The Wall. Of course, The Wall was just a wall, but Izuku found himself drawn to this wall more than enough times to give it a name. The pictures on The Wall were taken over the span of hundreds of years, in all sorts of different styles; Polaroid photos, Digital photos, even some Holographic captures. But what made these different from just some family photos were the uniforms they wore. Each photo had different type of uniform, even some different colors (some black here, some purple there, some white everywhere), but they all had the faux-Spandex covering their bodies, helmets in their hands, showing their faces to some unseen cameraman.

He was their legacy. Anything he did would reflect back onto them posthumously, even though not many actually remembered them. They’d all saved the world, dozens, if not hundreds of times each, and yet they were forgotten by the world. Still, perhaps they’d prefer it that way; secret identities and such. But still they didn’t suffer alone - they had teammates, mentors, and even close friends that knew.

Izuku was alone. All alone.

Suddenly, he was burst out of his thoughts by an alarm sounding through the Command Center, bouncing off of its cool stone walls. The green haired teen ran towards the large screen at the front of the room, a black cloak flowing behind him. “A MONSTER IS ATTACKING UA STUDENTS ON CAMPUS!” DECA declared, directing his attention to one of the screens to the main console’s side. “BEHOLD, THE MONSTER HAS A CHEMICAL MAKEUP SIMILAR TO THAT OF THE HIDEAKS YOU’VE FOUGHT THUS FAR.” The monster wasn’t doing anything special at the moment, just standing to the side of a smaller man menacingly. But the thing was huge ! He was probably just as buff, if not more so than All Might himself.

Izuku looked back to the main console, “Are there any weaknesses? Those Hideaks are weak enough to go down to just me after all, and whoever made those likely made this.”

There was a long pause, before DECA stated, “IT IS UNCLEAR IF THERE ARE ANY EQUALIZING ISSUES WITH THE CREATURE, BUT THE BRAIN OF THE CREATURE IS EXPOSED, WITH NO SIGNS THAT IT IS ENHANCED. PERHAPS IF YOU STRIKE IT THERE, IT WOULD BE INCAPACITATED.”

Izuku nodded surely. Hit the face. I can do that. Izuku pulled out his morpher, opening it as he did so. He placed it over his left forearm, moving it in a particular pattern while he shouted, “Magical Source, Mystic Force!”

A deep booming voice surrounded him, calling out, “Galwit Mysto Ranger!” Within milliseconds, he could feel the comfortable embrace of the Morphing Grid surrounding him, before it left him, covered in red faux-spandex and a helmet.

DECA responded affirmatively, “VERY WELL. TRANSPORTATION SEQUENCE BEGINNING NOW.” Izuku disappeared in a flash of red light.

Shouta Aizawa had started the day normal enough - he woke up, went to work, searching for the plain-face that belonged to Izuku Midoriya along the way, before loading his homeroom into their bus. However, as soon as he stepped foot into the USJ, he just knew that something was going to go wrong. And as soon as the thought had crossed his mind, of course a large group of villains had to appear, with multiple dangerous-looking individuals spread out among the perimeter. Mentally, he screamed in frustration, but when Hitoshi Shinso begged him to just take the students and run, he kept his back to the boy, staring out at the horde, and asked, “What kind of a hero would let his students die on his watch?” He lifted his goggles into his eyes, and continued, “Besides, no hero is a one-trick pony.”

With that, he had leapt towards the villains, making sure to keep the more dangerous villains within eyesight. And then the fight had stretched for what felt like hours, although it was more likely just a couple of minutes, but his eyes burned from the overuse of his quirk. Still, it seemed to be drawing to a close, with about 90% of the villains down for the count - only two remained, plus the one that escaped during a blink. Blindly wanting the fight to end, Eraserhead leapt towards the smaller of the remaining villains, who seemed to be in charge from the orders he gave earlier. The man echoed his movement, constantly mumbling as he reached out his extended palm, “12 . . . 11 . . . 10 . . .”

“This ends now!” Eraserhead cried as he threw his Capture Weapon towards the villain, who went along with it, grabbing the weapon’s end and pulling himself forward.

“. . . 7 . . . 6 . . . 5 . . . 4 . . .”

Eraserhead pulled once more and slammed his elbow into the villain’s gut, making him gasp for a moment, before he felt a hand on his elbow. “What’re you-”

“ . . . 2 . . . 1.” Eraserhead couldn’t help it - he blinked. The man’s quirk immediately activated, and Eraserhead felt a searing pain in his elbow, worse than getting scraped by Endeavor’s Hellflame.

Automatically, the pro jumped back, wincing as his elbow moved, before shifting his gaze to have the wounded area in his peripheral vision. Although he couldn’t see as sharply as he could’ve otherwise, he could plainly tell that his skin was gone there, muscle sticking out plainly, with a flake of white he didn’t want to consider among the red. “The hell . . .”

“You’re pretty cool, Eraserhead,” the villain complimented casually. “But seriously, a Special Sweeper like you, trying to be a Wall/WallBreaker Combination? I thought you were supposed to be one of the smarter heroes, but I guess you’re just a Spiker.”

Eraserhead frowned. What the hell is this guy talki-

“Besides,” the villain continued, “I’m not the final boss.” Eraserhead’s eyes widened and he reflexively turned towards the only remaining villain. “Nomu,” the villain smirked cruelly, “break him.”

Eraserhead activated his quirk, but it didn’t matter - Nomu broke him like a twig anyway. If his exposed elbow had felt like a burn from catching a minor bit of Hellflame, this felt like someone had doused his arm in gasoline and then had Endeavor use Flashfire Fists on it, repeatedly. He moaned quietly, despite him biting down on his lip hard enough to draw blood. His mind felt like it was in a haze, but he caught a purple blur appearing next to the main villain, saying something about failing. However, he could tell when the main villain turned and shouted, “. . . All Might’s pride by killing a few students!”

Eraserhead’s focus sharpened enough for him to recognize him bolting to Shinsou, Asui, and Mineta. Through his pain, he prepared to activate his quirk, before letting his hair drop as a familiar red light flared, making everyone stop and stare as a man in a spandex suit and red helmet appeared in the middle of the square.

“What the actual fuck is going on here?!”

Izuku quickly took stock of his situation, his eyes speeding from side to side, before focusing in on what was directly in front of him. The unimportant details were few and far between, but among them is the existence of almost a hundred unconscious villains. Eraserhead is SO COOL! Izuku shook his head slightly, refocusing on the group in front of him. There were two villains, one, a man made of mist, standing next to the monster he was sent for, and the other being a blue haired man covered in hands that was midway between the other villain and the water. Within the water, three kids, about his age, were standing in the waist-deep water and staring at him in shock.

And then, the big one, the faux-Hideak, was standing above the Pro Hero Eraserhead, who was hanging limply from an arm that wasn’t bent right.

Before Izuku could do anything, the blue haired villain called out to his compassion, “Kurogiri, who is this?”

The misty man, now known as Kurogiri, answered, “That’s unknown, as of yet, Shigaraki. Mayhaps they would be kind enough to give us their name?”

Izuku smirked, before pushing his cape aside and crying, “Powerful as the Phoenix! Red Mystic Ranger!”

“. . . what?” One of the purple haired students couldn’t help but ask.

Izuku didn’t let that stop him from striding forward, pointing his finger at Shigaraki. “Now, you, tell me who summoned this monster.” It wasn’t a question.

Shigaraki didn’t respond for a few seconds, before he started to scratch at his neck wildly, “. . . Sensei didn’t say anything about any extra NPCs appearing. Neither did the objective list . . . maybe a secret, optional boss?”

Izuku frowned lightly, before turning to the students and subtly gesturing for them to move. “I don’t think that this is optional . . . Shigaraki, was it?” He shook his head. “Whoever decided to bring that monster up from the underworld made it a required encounter.”

Shigaraki slowly nodded, seemingly deep in thought. “ . . . yes . . . yes, that could work.” The man lifted his gaze from the floor and asked, “Sorry, but did you give us a sidequest or something? I wasn’t paying attention.”

Izuku would have started pinching the bridge of his nose if he could just reach past the helmet, before he shook his head. “Nevermind.”

“Well, if you aren’t joining my party, that means you’re just a chance to get some extra EXP before the Final Boss!” Shigaraki leapt forward, his lanky form moving faster than Izuku would’ve thought possible otherwise.

Izuku ran towards the villain, clenching his fists as he tried to think through his next couple of moves. The way he’s moving, Izuku thought as he ducked under a swipe from Shigaraki, he’s not doing anything but trying to slap or grab me! Izuku stepped back, slapping away Shigaraki’s palms as he did. Must have a five-finger activated quirk, a deadly one if he’s confident a slap alone would work.

But I won’t give him the chance! Izuku leapt high into the air, kicking downwards, before leaving the stunned villain behind. Making a beeline towards the monster, Izuku reached down to his side-holster, withdrawing its contents and pointing it to the black beast. “Magi Staff!” He shifted the cross-guard down. “Sword-mode!”

The blade extended to its full length, just as Izuku reached his target. “Take this!” He brought his blade down in a powerful slash, before freezing.

The blade was resting on top of the monster’s arm, no more harmful than a child’s toy. And what’s more, the thing didn’t even move an inch.

“Did you really think that we didn’t care to look up a walkthrough for this level?” Shigaraki asked from behind him. “We saw that All Might was a few levels above us, so we went and gave Nomu a new moveset. He’s got moves like Shock Absorption, Super Regeneration, and some Bio-Engineered Strength on the side of his natural, total obedience.”

Izuku’s eyes narrowed, before he looked back to the monster, Nomu. “Absorption, huh?” Izuku took a few steps back, before crossing his sword over his left arm. Suddenly, flames started crawling along his body as he shouted, “I call upon the Power of the Phoenix!”

He felt the familiar, burning rush of power flow through his veins as he leapt forward, slamming his body into Nomu. With some grim satisfaction, he saw the creature’s red muscle beneath his sword, feeling the body move bit by bit, before Izuku felt the power leave him.

Nomu only moved a foot or two away.

“Is that all the power-ups you can access, NPC?” Shigaraki laughed, before smirking cruelly, “Nomu, take this encounter out!”

Izuku looked up at the hulking mass, which finally turned its head down to him. He chuckled nervously, before stating, “I’m in trouble.” And then, pain filled his being as he felt himself fly though the air, before crashing through the cement staircase. He laid there for a moment, before tapping the side of his helmet. “DECA, any solutions?”

“ . . . NOMU DIDN’T MOVE AT ALL UNTIL HE WAS ORDERED BY THIS SHIGARAKI TO MOVE. PERHAPS HE WOULDN’T MOVE AT ALL IF HE WAS SEPARATED FROM HIM?”

Izuku sighed, “He’d have to be still for me to teleport him, though.” He looked at the rapidly approaching monster. “I don’t think he’ll stop for an interview or something.”

“PERHAPS YOU SHOULD TRY. DISCONNECTING.”

Izuku sighed as the comm inside his helmet turned off. “Sure, now it’s decided to develop a sense of humor.” He looked out at Nomu, before picking his sword back up and taking a defensive stance. “Well, let’s get the ball rolling!” He stepped forward, staring down the approaching beast.

Shigaraki shouted out, “Are you bugged or something? You’re trying to do the same thing over and over?”

Izuku didn’t dignify that with a response, instead taking the few seconds between him and the powerful punch to try and mentally prepare himself. Those few seconds passed quickly, much too quickly, before he couldn’t move a muscle without shifting back a few inches. Still, it was more than enough to work with - Nomu couldn’t move either. “Udthus Bethud!” The undertones of magic lined his voice as Nomu stumbled backwards, as though in an earthquake.

Izuku smirked, before thrusting his hand out to the monster, “Traiceret Unum in Spatio!” A golden spell wheel formed under Nomu’s feet, who did nothing to get out of the way as it rose, higher and higher.

Within moments, the monster was gone, sent to a place that no one besides him knew. Shigaraki let out a scream, before running up towards Izuku, “No one told us that you had a teleportation hack! You cheater!” When the villain was about halfway to him, Izuku felt suddenly weak and collapsed onto the floor, the magic holding the spandex suit together vanishing.

Izuku looked down at his fingers, then at the two villains, before letting his head fall back. “Shit.”

Everyone in the plaza stopped moving and stared at him for a second, before Shigaraki started laughing like a villain from a kid’s TV show. “The NPC was using a Power Star! And it looks like he just ran out of time!”

Izuku lifted his head a little, enough to give Shigaraki a bored look, and was about to stand up, when there was a sound like a crashing door, followed by a booming voice that Izuku knew extremely well, “NEVER FEAR, FOR I AM HERE!

Izuku let out a quick sigh of relief, before tapping a button on his watch. “DECA, the target is neutralized. Beam me up!” There was silence from the other line, besides some static, meaning that it was active. “Damn it, DECA! Now’s not the time to be a rebel!” There was silence, and Izuku vaguely noted the quick retreat of Shigaraki and Kurogiri in the wake of All Might’s appearance. He sighed, resigned to his fate of getting arrested for Vigilantism, before asking, “Did you at least receive the package, DECA?”

“INDEED. THE BEAST HASN’T MOVED A MUSCLE SINCE YOU SENT IT TO OUR DETAINMENT CENTER.”

“So now you can speak,” Izuku muttered mock-bitterly. “I guess that you’re not going to let me teleport.”

“INDEED.”

Izuku frowned, before looking up, where All Might was standing, at the peak of the stairs. This isn’t going to be good.

Suddenly, All Might disappeared, moving even faster than Nomu did, grabbing Eraserhead, before running back up the stairs. However, when he reached Izuku on the return trip, he beamed down with a smile that didn’t match his accusing eyes and asked, “WHO ARE YOU, AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?

Izuku sighed, before letting out a groan as he stood up. “My ride let me know that something was going on here, but isn’t letting me leave.” He started climbing stairs, letting a confused All Might stare at his back, before calling back, “I think they want me to talk to someone, although I’m not entirely sure who.”

Nedzu took a small sip of tea, his action mirrored by the boy in front of him. He’s apparently not worried about me potentially poisoning his cup, despite not knowing me. He hummed lightly, before setting his teacup down onto the coaster. “Well, Mr. Midoriya,” he didn’t bother to hide his small smile at the boy’s shock. “Yes, we’re well aware of your identity, Mr. Midoriya. Whoever your friend is that is blocking your records from general access has done a magnificent job at making sure that you’re virtually invisible, but they forgot about your physical records.”

Midoriya frowned, before placing his teacup on the provided coaster and asking in a measured voice, “But how did you know about me at all? I’ve been very careful to avoid any exposure.”

Nedzu nodded. “Oh yes, it’s been frustratingly difficult for me to find footage of you doing anything noteworthy.” It was true. He didn’t know whether to curse or praise the boy for his skill. “But your partner on that magnificent watch you wear wasn’t quite as careful as they should’ve been, since it was about a month or so ago that you took down a group of thugs in front of UA’s own Eraserhead, and it referred to you as ‘Izuku.’”

He noted that the boy winced, before cursing someone named Dekker, or perhaps Dekka, underneath his breath.

Silly humans. Always forgetting that animals can hear much better than most normal humans. He smirked, hiding it behind his slightly cooled teacup. “Still, we couldn’t find much more information on you beyond your existence and immediate family. My condolences on your mother’s passing, by the way.”

Izuku hid his reaction behind his teacup, quietly responding, “Thank you, sir.”

Nedzu would’ve frowned if he were a lesser individual. That could either pass as sadness, apathy, or discomfort. So no help there. He continued regardless, “Would you mind telling me about your wonderful quirk, anyways? I’m told that it was capable of defeating a multi-quirked monster named Nomu.” Midoriya fidgeted slightly. Uncomfortable subject, I see. Nedzu’s smile grew a fraction wider, before the boy responded.

“Oh. Well, I’m quirkless.” Nedzu made sure to swallow his tea in a normal manner. Despite this, seeing the sign of surprise, Midoriya continued, “Yeah. I’ve even got the extra toe-joint to prove it.”

“Are you entirely sure, Mr. Midoriya? It would be impossible for someone quirkless to produce flames to coat their bodies, or change form when tired or beaten.”

Midoriya scoffed in disbelief, before shaking his head and responding. “I’ve suffered due to my quirklessness for a decade and a half, so no. I’m sure this isn’t a quirk.”

Nedzu’s eyes narrowed instinctively, before he forced them back to their normal sizes. Quirkless, but exhibiting signs of a quirk late in life. Certainly seems to be his MO. “And then, what would you say that this non-quirk is, if not a quirk.”

Midoriya set his teacup down on the coaster again, smirking mischievously as he answered with a question. “Would you believe me if I said it was magic?”

How dumb do you think I am? “It’d be a bold claim to make, for sure.”

“Of course, you wouldn’t. It’s a bit far from your expertise, I guess. Would you, perhaps, like a demonstration?”

Nedzu smiled widely, and nodded. “Do you need anything for your . . . magic?”

Midoriya shook his head, instead pulling a flip phone from his pocket. He flipped it open, making a pointed, red gem appear at its end, before pointing it at himself. “Corum Oviat Ditrium,” the boy stated, his voice becoming deeper and inherently powerful. There was a flash of red light, before it receded and revealed a somewhat small ram. “Does tha-a-at pro-o-ove it to you, sir?”

What. The. Hell. That’s impossible. Nedzu nodded slowly, not bothering to hide his shock as the boy-turned-ram nodded to himself.

In that same powerful voice, the sheep intoned, “Morthay Mammun.” Another flash of red light, before it once more receded to reveal the boy.

“What . . . how did you come across this magic?” Nedzu asked, his natural curiosity overtaking his shock.

Midoriya chuckled lightly, before answering, “It’s something of a family tradition, having fire-related abilities, going all the way back to 2006 at the earliest. I’m just the first since quirks appeared to not have an excuse.” The boy shook his head, before elaborating, “I’m the first since then to be aware of it, I mean.”

“And the . . . costume?”

He seemed to consider the question for a second, before answering, “It’s also something of a family tradition, although I didn’t get the wand from my family. Instead, it was being kept for a time of need by a friend of my great-great-great, however many times over, grandparents, and I found it about a year ago.” The boy glanced down at his watch, before shaking head and returning Nedzu’s gaze.

Nedzu hummed, before looking down at his own watch, noting the time. I still have some questions, but . . . He glanced at the boy, who seemed exhausted, but was powering through it. “Mr. Midoriya, it seems that today has been something of an ordeal, and so I’d like to get to the heart of why you’re here.” Nedzu paused for a moment, waiting for the boy to protest, or something similar, before continuing when there was none, “With your actions at the USJ, it would likely have landed you with charges of vigilantism.” He paused for a moment, savoring the tension, before continuing, “However, seeing as how you were able to aleve the situation, it would be a beneficial arrangement for both of us if you were to attend U.A.”

Midoriya’s eyes widened marginally, before he schooled his expression. “And how would that be a beneficial situation for both of us?”

Nedzu beamed, “For one, you get to dodge the charges that would likely get you sent to prison, in addition to additional training. For U.A’s side of this,” Nedzu paused, looking Midoriya straight in the eye, “U.A’s just had a massive break in, where multiple powerful villains attacked students. While there were no casualties, I believe it to be a necessary precaution to introduce more powerful individuals into the Hero Course, both as a show of strength and precaution.”

The boy nodded, sipping his tea thoughtfully, before he seemed to come to a conclusion. “Very well. I suppose this would be the best course, at least for now.” He extended his hand

Nedzu took it with a manic smile. Aizawa is going to have an exciting three years. I can already hear his screams!

Notes:

A/N : Well, I’ve got to say, this has been an incredible experience to write. I busted it out over three days, with Finals starting on the second day, and I feel proud of this. I know that it’s probably obvious now, but I’ve made Izuku a Mystic Force Power Ranger. That actually went through a few different changes; first, he was a Jungle Fury Ranger, then the Green Ranger, then a Zeo Ranger, and then he ended up as a Mystic Force Power Ranger. That’s partially because I’ve been watching that season, but also, it was the only way that I could end the USJ fight without Izuku getting beaten to a pulp, without starting a giant Kaiju fight.

And yeah, if I decide to do more in this series, I’ll probably flesh out what happened to Inko, how Izuku met DECA, how he discovered magic, etc.

If you liked this, please let me know in a review or a like or something. If you have any suggestions, I’d very much enjoy it if you were to give it to me in a review as well.
