Chapter 1: Hawks' Gay Awakening [Reformatted]
Summary:
As you're taking a break from a project for a support item, a certain somebody shows up on your balcony. None other than Keigo, the Crimson-Winged Hawks. You had to admit, you had a crush on him, but you weren't too sure how he saw you, you were worried he still saw you as a girl, given that you're the only male colleague/friend of his that he flirts with. Little do you know, there's more to it than just "harmless flirting."
Originally you thought he came here strictly for business purposes, but that wasn't the case. Unfortunately though, the Hero Commission gets in your and Keigo's way. They had asked Keigo to track down Dabi, who just so happens to be a recent client of yours.
Chapter Text
You had just finished up a sketch for a project you were commissioned by a client of yours and you really needed a break, so you decided to take one for the rest of the night.
You deserved one, and there was nobody stopping you.
You hadn't realized it was already dusk outside until you were out on your balcony with your phone, a cigarette and a lighter. You used to pride yourself as someone who wasn't a smoker, but they helped with your stress. You didn't care much for the way society frowned upon you for being a smoker, but you were used to it now anyways, considering you couldn't deny that you had a soft spot for some villains.
That alone is enough for most people to want to avoid you altogether. It was just in your nature to find a spot for those society deems "villains."
Take Twice for example, he was the prime target for society to hate him. It was really sad, you thought, and you wished that society wouldn't have casted him out. The outcasts are usually the ones that would've done well as heroes if it weren't for the fact society hated anyone who went against the grain. It's not like Twice chose to have the quirk he was born with.
Just as you flicked open your lighter, there was a gust of wind, it putting out the flame. You sighed, closing it and opening it once again, only for there to be yet another gust. You huffed, closing the lighter once again.
"Maybe this is some higher being's way of telling me to quit smoking." You said aloud to yourself as you leaned on the railing.
"Wow, I'm flattered you think of me that highly~" You heard a voice from behind reply.
Of course you knew whose voice it belonged to, but you weren't the most thrilled at his presence.
You sighed as you turned around to face him.
"What now, Keigo?"
He immediately pouts, "Awww, you finally called me Keigo? Are we on first name basis now? No more hero name, Hawks?" He slightly mocked you.
You rolled your eyes. You flicked open the lighter once again, it finally keeping its flame now. You then pulled out a cigarette from the pack you had and put the filtered end into your mouth then lit the tip with the flame.
"Need new information about a villain? You know I can't if they're a client." You exhaled out a puff of smoke as you spoke.
"Come on, baby bird, we don't always need to be acting all business-like, especially when I'm off duty." Keigo smirked, folding in his crimson wings and stepping closer to you.
His words were dripping like honey, it made you almost too eager that he was getting closer.
You look away from him, trying to avoid eye contact as you take another puff of the cigarette, slightly losing yourself in your own mind.
"Does he think I'm a girl...? Is that why he flirts with me all the time...? He doesn't do this to his other male colleagues..." You thought to yourself.
You looked back to him, realizing how close he was to you now, causing you to freeze in place. There was enough distance between the two of you that you could easily move past him, but you knew he'd probably try to trap you between his arms if you did.
You take the cigarette out of your mouth and set it on the railing, then decide to ask,
"Do you see me as a girl?"
He stops smirking, his face twisting into an expression of genuine surprise.
"I-I.." He stammered, the tips of his ears turning a shade of pink.
"You do, don't you?" You spoke softly, looking down and sighing.
He grabbed your chin gently, pulling your chin gently towards him to force you to look back up at him. As soon as you locked eyes with him, you could tell he was serious. "Of course I don't. I thought I made it obvious, but I guess not."
You furrow your eyebrows in confusion, "Obvious? You call misgendering me during a live interview obvious? Do you know how many articles got written about me being your potential "girlfriend" just because-"
He sighs, looking down. "L-Look, I'm... really sorry. I didn't mean for any of that to happen, I know you're not a girl and you never were. I just..."
His voice trails off for a moment but quickly breaks the silence by quietly mumbling loud enough for you to hear, "Sometimes I have a hard time accepting that I have real feelings for someone who isn't a woman."
He lets go of your chin, his face turning red, covering his mouth with his hand, "Shit, did I just say that last part out loud?" His face was now as red as a tomato.
You chuckle, poking his side a little. "I appreciate it, but come on, you don't gotta go that far to cheer me up."
Part of you hoped he was telling the truth, but knowing Hawks, he's most likely straight.
"N-No I-" He shakes his head, locking eye contact with you. His mouth is still covered by his hand, face still red.
"I mean it... I-it just slipped-" He mumbles, still looking into your eyes.
You practically feel all the hairs on your body stand up, your face heating up immediately as he makes eye contact and getting even hotter by the second, especially with what Keigo just told you. You were frozen in place, stuck staring directly at him.
"There's no way he actually has feelings for me, I'm sure this is all just some-"
You're pulled out of your thoughts as he lowers his hand and gently puts his hand on your cheek, his face still red as ever but you could definitely tell he was trying to play it cool now.
"C-Can I.." He clears his throat, looking away from you briefly, then locking eyes with you again.
"Can I kiss you?"
His expression softens as he waits for your reply, and your eyes trail down from his eyes, to his nose, then his lips. They looked really soft, you hadn't noticed before because you hadn't been this close to him for this long until now.
You quickly nod, closing your eyes, waiting for his lips to touch yours. A few seconds after you closed your eyes, you felt Keigos' other hand touch your other cheek, and soon after, his lips touched yours. You softly sighed as his lips met yours, not wanting him to pull away. He moved his hands from your cheeks to the back of your head, slightly running his hands through your hair. After a good few moments, Keigo slowly breaks away and you open your eyes, his eyes opening shortly after yours did, his hands still planted on the back of your head in your hair.
"Was that enough proof that I wasn't just trying to cheer you up?" He smirks slightly, eyes half-lidded.
You smile shyly, breaking eye contact as your face begins to heat up again. You think to yourself as what feels like all of your nerves screaming with joy,
"I guess he really does like me as more than just a friend..."
You stutter slightly, "A-Anyways, what did you.. come here for?" You clear your throat a little, looking back at Keigo in hopes that you'd gain some of your confidence back.
He playfully rolled his eyes, smiling. "Always thinking about work, aren't you?"
He slid his hands down from the back of your head to your shoulders, down the backs of your arms and finally to your hands. You tried hard to fight off the shiver his touch was causing, but alas, your body had other plans. As his hands reached yours, he cupped your hands in between his, all the while maintaining eye contact with you.
You really felt like you were swooning for this man at this point, and you couldn't tell if it was just that bit of alcohol you had earlier, or if this was real.
"Come on, baby bird. Can't we just relax for a bit?" He tilted his head, putting on puppy dog eyes and pouting a little.
You can't help but breathily laugh at his facial expression. "You don't have to tell me twice, especially with a cute face like that." You decide to attempt to flirt back at him for once, causing him to smile.
"Look at who's the flirty one now~" He'd tease, sticking out his tongue at you.
Just as you were about to make a playful remark, suddenly you are stopped by the sound of his phone ringing in his pocket. He closes his eyes for a moment, sighing as he gently lets go of your hands and pulls out his phone. Turning on his phone screen, he curses under his breath loud enough you could still hear.
"Shit, you've got to be fucking kidding me. It's almost half past 9 and they know I'm off duty by now."
He looks up at you, "You mind if I take this? It's work-related."
You shake your head, "Go ahead,"
He whispers, "Thank you," as he answers the phone and puts it to his ear.
"Already? I thought we agreed that I-" He sighs, whoever was on the other line interrupting him.
"Alright, I'll report back once I have something new."
After a few seconds he hangs up the phone and frustratedly puts his phone back in his pocket. In an attempt to comfort the crimson-winged Hero, you put your hand on his arm. You felt him untense his muscles the moment he felt your skin against his, but before his face went soft, he slightly tensed up again as he looked at you, his eyes having a mysterious look in them. You couldn't tell what he was thinking, but you could tell it was something serious.
"What was that about?" You slid your hand down his arm to meet his, brushing your fingertips over his knuckles.
He thought for a moment, staring at your hand on his, then spoke up. "There's this villain I need to track down, he's..." He sighed frustratedly, "He's a supposed member of the LOV, so naturally it's been hard getting information on him and any of his friends other than public information, however-"
You cut him off, already knowing where this is going. "You wanted to know if I did any work for him, don't you?"
Hawks pouts a little, looking guilty. "But that's not what I came here for originally, I promise."
He grabs your hand gently and lifts it to his face, kissing the back of your hand.
You roll your eyes playfully, "Since when were you honest with me?" You looked at him with half-lidded eyes, playfully annoyed.
He pouts again, looking guilty just the same as before. "Alright, well that's not the only reason I came here."
You scoff, "Uh huh, sure, Hawks." You purposefully emphasize his hero name, causing a reaction out of him but he quickly stifled it before he said or did anything more. He gently lowered your hand, letting go of it as soon as it was near your side. You playfully sigh, giving in. "Alright, let's go inside then."
You start walking back into your apartment, Keigo following behind you. He sits on the couch in your living room as you make your way towards the kitchen,
"You want anything to drink?"
He shrugs, "Just water will do. Can't drink if I'm going to go back on duty soon."
You grab a glass from a cabinet and walk to the faucet, turning it on and holding the glass underneath the running water. "I thought you don't usually work this late, what's going on?" You turn off the faucet and walk over to Keigo, handing him the glass of water and sitting down next to him, facing him.
He nods once in appreciation, takes a sip of the water, then sets it down gently onto the coffee table, making sure that it didn't make a loud noise, since your coffee table was glass. He leans back on the couch, arms on top of the backrest. He sighs before speaking, looking at you,
"The client I work for, well.. They're a bit pushy, and they really want as much information as I can muster about the villain in question. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, it's just the fact the villain they're interested in is a confirmed member of the LOV. I haven't been able to get any information or leads on their whereabouts, but I think I have a better shot of getting anything with you."
You roll your eyes, "Come on Keigo, just spit it out already. Who is this villain in question?"
He breaks eye contact with you, looking down sheepishly.
"Dabi."
You widen your eyes for a second, hoping he didn't notice your facial expression when you heard that name, but he definitely noticed. He looks back at you, "So you have worked with him before, I knew it."
You quickly stammer out, "Well, It's not that I have worked with him before but-" You stop yourself, "Client confidentiality. I could lose my credibility if I tell you anything..."
You look away from him, but he moves closer to you, putting his finger underneath your chin, gently pulling you back to look at him.
"Listen, nobody would need to know where I got the information from, or how I got it. Luckily, my client is too eager for any information that as long as I can back up what I'm telling them, they don't care where I get it from. They know how things are sometimes, so they don't push in that regard."
You were listening to him, but you couldn't help but melt into his hand, your cheeks burning up as you stared into his eyes and listened to his words, and his tone of voice. He sounded serious, and you loved how his tone sounded when he was being gentle with you.
"Fuck, I really just fell hard for him now, haven't I? I'm in trouble."
He starts moving his lips again, but you can't hear what he's saying. You were lost in his eyes and admired his face. His lips stopped moving after a little, and a smirk spread across his face. He gently taps your cheek, bringing you back to reality.
"Really now, baby bird, have you fallen that quickly?" He chuckles, halfheartedly joking.
Little did he know the truth…
Your face burns up even more and you clear your throat, noticing how closer you had accidentally moved when you were admiring his face. You lean back a little, but before you could sit back up straight, he grabs your arms gently, causing you to stay in place
"No, stay.." He says quietly, his eyes looking from your eyes down to your lips, and back up to your eyes. You nod a little and he closes his eyes, pressing his lips against yours. You sigh happily as you close your eyes and melt into Keigo. After a short makeout session and you two have already pulled away from each other, Keigo speaks up.
"So baby bird, how long have you had a thing for me? Be honest."
You stare at him with playful annoyance, "Why don't you tell me how long you've had a thing for me and why it took you this long to finally accept it." His face turns red and he looks away from you, but you show off some confidence you've mustered by grabbing his chin just like he kept doing to you and force him to look back at you.
His face turns even more red, stuttering before muttering out something you couldn't understand then looks satisfied he finally said it. You chuckle at how adorable you thought he was being, "I didn't catch any of that, Hawks."
He huffs, repeating himself. "Since that time we met at the ramen place downtown." He pouts, acting as if he was annoyed, but you knew he wasn't actually.
After processing what he just admitted, your eyes widened and face started to heat up.
"Keigo, that was the second time we ever spoke to each other-"
He cuts you off, "I know, you can't blame me, okay. I didn't know it was a real crush and eventually real feelings until about a month ago. Up until today, I still had a hard time believing it too." He covers his face with his wings, shielding himself from you with them.
"What's this? The Number 2 Hero of Japan is being bashful? Are you sure you're the real Hawks?" You tease him.
He quickly unshielded himself, putting his wings back to their usual position, replying. "I-I'm not being bashful or shy, Y-You are!" He huffs, puffing his cheeks and furrowing his brows.
You couldn't tell anymore if this was his genuine reaction or if he was playing, but you couldn't help but to admire how cute he was being right now. As your mind began to wander, you caught yourself before you fell too deep into thought. Now forcibly grounding yourself, you cleared your throat and spoke up. "So about.. the villain you want information on," You hesitate, debating whether or not to tell Keigo what you know.
He notices, sitting up right and putting on a serious face. "You don't have to tell me everything, just his possible whereabouts or anything else you think is important."
You take a deep breath, preparing yourself. After a few moments of you collecting your thoughts, you decide it'd be best to tell Keigo what you know, in case the LOV is planning something.
"Yes, I did work with him, but he actually was requesting a support item for someone else, not him. I asked him why couldn't the person who the support item was for ask me themselves and he dodged the question. I found it a little odd, but a paying customer is a paying customer, who was I to deny him just because it wasn't for him? Anyway, so I made the support item for his friend and-"
Keigo cuts you off, "Hold on, what was the support item? That may be important because if it's for someone that isn't with the LOV, we may be able to find out who their allies are."
"I'm pretty sure it was a support item for Toga Himiko because it was a specialized syringe and canister that empties whatever goes into the syringe into the canister, connected by a tube."
Keigo sighs dejectedly, but then seemingly has an epiphany. "Did he happen to give you blueprints by chance? I could take it to the police and-"
You shake your head, "He did but after I finished making it, he took them back."
Keigo huffs, then puts a hand on his chin, seemingly thinking for a moment. While he's in thought, you admire his face, tracing his features with your eyes, studying him. He looks almost too attractive to really be in your living room.
You felt that if you blinked, he would disappear and it would've all been a dream and you'd wake up in your bed.

Chapter Text
Last week, you thought it’d be like any other Friday night, but you couldn’t have been more wrong; a certain someone came into your life and he definitely wasn’t someone you thought you’d meet that day. There was something off about him that you couldn’t quite put your finger on, although this wasn't out of the norm for the majority of villains you worked with in the past…
■■■■■
You were at a local bar with a couple of your friends and it was a Friday night, so the place was packed. People talking and laughing loudly among friends and strangers alike while you were sat at the bar, your friends somewhere nearby. You already had a few shots and the alcohol was just starting to set in, causing your head to spin, so you decided it'd be best to take a break from the festivities.
With your head resting on the cold bar countertop, you felt your phone buzz in your pocket. You groaned, “Ugh… What now?” You mumbled aloud as you sat up, pulling your phone out of your pants pocket. You see an unknown number texted your personal, non-work number.
Unknown at 11:52pm
Hey cutie, I heard you make support items, did I hear right? Or am I gonna need to find another info broker?
Based on what he told me, you sound like someone who knows how to have a good time 😏
You scoffed at the message as you thought to yourself, ”Who does this person think they’re talking to? And how did they even get my number in the first place? I never give any of my clients my number— Maybe it’s just one of my friends playing a prank on me.” You rolled your eyes, responding.
You at 11:55pm
Not funny, whichever of my friends you are, just give up already.
You turned your phone screen off and looked around the bar for your friends, spotting them pretty quickly. You got up and weaved your way through the crowd, seeing that your friends were all talking to each other, hovering near the karaoke stage. You hoped that they wouldn’t invite you to karaoke again because last time was a disaster; you nearly fell off the stage, and you weren’t a fan of heights. Approaching your friends, one of them notices you and says, “Hey! Where’ve you been all night, man? The girls were just about to go up on stage, did you wanna watch with us?” You shrugged sheepishly, “Just not really feeling it tonight. I might head home early,” one of your other friends chimed in, "Come on, you can’t seriously want to go back home to work on those.. What was it, hero items?” They scoffed in disgust, rolling their eyes.
You decided to ignore their comment entirely, “Did any of you happen to send me a prank text?” Your friends looked at each other in confusion, then shook their heads. The first friend who spoke up replies for the whole group, “No, why? You get a random dick pic? Was it at least big?” You shook your head as one of your other friends elbowed him, “No, nothing like that… Maybe it was just the wrong number.” You were already on edge and your friend joking around did not help ease your nerves. You sighed frustratedly at the situation, “I’m gonna head home, not feeling like partying tonight.” The first friend replies, being none the wiser, “Alright man, hope you get home safe!” Then immediately put his attention back onto your other friends, who already forgot you were standing there in the first place.
As you were leaving your “friends,” you immediately dismissed them from your mind, not wanting to think about them any further. ”I really need to find new friends…” You thought to yourself as you approached the bar again, noticing someone sitting in the seat next to where you had been sitting before, causing you to question if you should just go home already.
The sound of your phone buzzing pulled you out of your thoughts. You quickly looked down at your phone to see why it buzzed, and you were greeted with yet another text from the same unknown number. Now that you knew this wasn’t one of your friends, you nervously opened the text to read it.
Unknown at 12:01am
You finally realize I'm an actual client? Or do you need more proof?
In that moment, you could immediately hear your heart pounding in your ears loudly, loud enough that it felt as if all noise around you faded to the background. You began to question mentally, Who was this person? Were they someone in the bar? Were they spying on you? Perhaps this unknown number was a villain who had sent someone to spy on you— but you’d have noticed by now if someone was… Or at least you hoped so. Part of you had a gut reaction to call Hawks, but maybe he was busy at the moment, and it's not like you were in any immediate danger…
You took a deep breath quietly to yourself, and slowly exhaled. Perhaps you were just overreacting. You told yourself that at least so you'd hopefully calm down. Maybe a drink would help you calm down better, and who knows, maybe the person sitting at the bar was nice and you could make a new friend. You could only see their slightly messy short black hair, a black leather jacket with assumably some gang’s logo on the back, along with black cargo pants. You couldn’t recognize the logo on the jacket, but you weren’t one to judge someone by their clothes; maybe it wasn't a gang logo and you had judged this person incorrectly. If you had to judge just by their slightly bulkier build, they looked to be masculine.
You sat down at the bar, avoiding eye contact with the person out of nervous habit. You asked the bartender for something not too strong, and they began to make you a rum and coke on the rocks. You thanked them quietly as they handed you the glass, grabbing it then swishing around the drink, watching the ice swirl. "You come here often?” You inhaled sharply at the sudden sound of a masculine-sounding raspy, but also somehow soothing, voice on your right side. You looked toward where the voice came from, your eyes being met with the person with black hair and cargo pants, a man who had dark purple scarring under his eyes and on his lower jaw running downwards, all around his throat and the end of the scar vanishing somewhere under his shirt. All of which was held together by staples, or perhaps piercings that were made to look like staples.
You feel like his face, “piercings”, and scars were familiar; maybe he's famous… Probably not a Pro Hero though, he doesn’t seem like the type to be at the feet of the Hero Commission— “You planning on staring at me all night? I know the scars are a sight for sore eyes, but this is getting a little too long of silence.” The man half-heartedly laughed at his own joke, causing you to lock eyes with his piercing blue eyes that felt as if they were boring holes into you. His eyes were ice cold, yet somehow it felt like they drew you in. For a moment you felt frozen, as if you had met the gaze of Medusa.
You cleared your throat to bring yourself back to reality, “Sorry– been a long night, I’m a bit out of it.” You chuckled nervously and lied, darting your eyes away from him after speaking, looking back to your glass. The ice was already starting to melt, so you decided to take a sip of your drink, hoping the alcohol would distract you from what a fool you felt like for staring at him for so long. You weren’t the type to gawk at others who had visible scars or physical disabilities; this guy just seemed familiar, but of course you couldn't say that, you'd seem even more like a fool you thought. Despite him feeling familiar to you, you knew better than to ask where you've seen him, and why. Something told you that you'd find out sooner or later.
You heard the man chuckle in a lower register out of amusement, “It’s alright, I get it.” You saw out of the corner of your eye the man lighting a cigarette with the tip of his finger, a small blue flame emitting from his skin. Just like that, it finally clicked in your mind. You remembered where you saw him. It was on TV, when the Hero Commission had first connected him to being in a villain group. This was Dabi, a notorious member of the League of Villains, LOV for short. He was memorable to you due to his distinct scarring; you couldn't help to wonder how he got them, perhaps a fight he got into with another villain? What was he doing though, at this bar? Doesn’t he know Pros sometimes come here? Especially on busy nights like these?
You saw him look down at his phone after lighting his cigarette, taking a drag of it then exhaling the smoke through his nose like a dragon. You tried not to be nosy, but curiosity got the better of you. You could see that he opened his messaging app and was typing out something— before you could read the text, your phone buzzed. You heard your heartbeat in your ears again. Was it him? No, it had to be a coincidence. Shakily, you pulled your phone out of your pocket, only to feel your heartbeat quicken as you read the message.
Unknown at 12:04am
I can make your night better, if you’d allow me ❤️🔥
You reply back,
You at 12:04am
You seriously have nothing better to do than spy on me?
You nervously looked toward Dabi, seeing he was already looking over your shoulder, the cigarette he had previously lit sitting in an ashtray placed on the counter. You hurriedly flipped over your phone in hopes he didn't already see what you had messaged, “C-can I help you?” He smirked and narrowed his eyes mischievously, “Oh come on, doll, you really haven’t figured it out by now?” Still keeping eye contact with you, he pressed on his phone, and your phone immediately started to buzz again. You lifted up your phone screen to briefly look, hoping your imagination was getting the better of you. You saw that the same unknown number was calling you. You looked back to Dabi, opening your mouth to speak, but he showed his screen toward you, cutting you off. You see that he saved your contact as “Doll 💘” and now your heart was racing again, but for different reasons this time.
You had to admit, he was attractive, but he's a villain, you felt it would be better for your sake to not jump the gun on any cute guy who flirts with you. You've already been burned once, you don't need another incident like last time.
”What’s the point of all this? Are you interested in becoming a client of mine, or not?” You tried to maintain composure by clearing your throat as he hung up the call before it could go to voicemail. You looked away from him back to your glass, but he moved closer to you, causing your eyes to dart back to him. “...Clients usually prefer to only meet up once we’ve emailed back and forth a few times, to confirm I really am the real deal…” Nervously, you tried to move yourself away from him to put some distance between the two of you, but your attempts were for naught because he closed in on you even more, moving forward the second you tried to move back. If you tried to move back any further, you’d fall off the bar stool.
He grabbed the cigarette from the ashtray, taking another drag of it, then finally replied after what felt like an eternity. His voice was brought to a lower volume, bringing out the raspiness in his voice more by pure accident. “I don’t need to confirm if you’re the “real deal,” doll, because I already know that you are. You have some history with my information broker.” The ends of his lips curled, spreading into a mischievous grin.
”What’s his deal? He probably wants to become a client, but keeps flirting with me. And who is his information broker that I supposedly “have history with?” There aren't many information brokers that I know in the first place—” As you were thinking to yourself, it finally dawns on you who Dabi’s information broker could be– No, who it definitely was.
There’s only one person that he could possibly mean. Kagero Okuta, or Giran, his villain name. The name left a bitter taste in your mouth even though you hadn't said it out loud. You wish you could forget about him entirely, about all the time you spent with him. You definitely spent more time with Hawks by now, but this was before you and Hawks became acquainted officially. Giran tried to get you to completely cut yourself off from hero society and, as he put it, “turn you to the dark side,” by becoming your “boyfriend,” but you were just a toy to him; someone he could use when he needed a pick-me-up, and toss to the side when he got bored. After a few months of putting up with his behavior, you finally decided that enough was enough, so you cut all ties with him.
Finally pulling yourself out of thought, you rolled your eyes at Dabi. "You definitely need to find a new information broker. All he's good at is using people." You huffed frustratedly, grabbing your glass and downing the rest of what you had left, then setting it back onto the bar counter. You saw out of the corner of your eye Dabi's smile had completely faded. You were fully ready to leave, and presumably Dabi could tell, because he put his hand on your arm gently. Looking down at his hand, you could see he also had the same dark purple scarring on them. "Wait. Fuck Giran, He's not the only one who recommended you to me.”
You sighed, “Fine. I'm willing to hear you out. When do you want to discuss further?” You had to admit, you were curious who else had recommended you to him, but you decided to not ask him for now. You looked at him to meet his gaze, his eyes boring holes into you yet again. You had to fight off a shiver that wanted to run down your spine, and luckily for you the alcohol helped you.
He spoke up as you met his gaze, “Well, do you have any other plans for tonight?” Your eyes widened and you could feel your face heating up, “I mean, no but–” He cut you off, “Good, let's go outside then.” Still holding onto your arm, he stood up. His hand traveled down to your wrist, holding onto it firmly but not enough that it caused you any pain. You nervously stood up, allowing him to lead you outside. You looked around as he led you to the door, hoping your friends were looking your way so in case he kidnapped you they knew his face, but your “friends” were too busy doing body shots off each other and cheering the others on. You gritted your teeth, but you knew better than to expect anything from them. He put out his cigarette in the ashtray then led you outside.
■■■■■
Stepping out into the cold air, you felt lucky that you were wearing a jacket. It wasn't the thickest, but it would do for now. You'd thought Dabi would stop outside the bar in front, but he kept leading you, walking down the alleyway next to the bar. You could feel your anxiety bubbling up again. You hadn't even noticed you were shaking until Dabi said something, “What, Are you scared of me or something?” He smirked, tilting his head at you. You jumped slightly, looking down at your hand to see that it was shaking. You don't even know how he noticed it, because it was only slightly shaking.
You willed your hand to stop shaking, pulling your wrist away from his grasp. You met his gaze, trying to mask your anxiety. “So, why me? I'm sure Giran or the other person who recommended me to you had a list of other support item makers to choose from.” His smirk didn't fade as he leaned forward, putting his hand on the wall next to your head. You tensed up, shifting away from him slightly, his arm still extended on your left side. He spoke with a softness that made you feel dizzy, seemingly avoiding your question. “It's good to finally be face to face with you.” You quickly retorted, “What does that mean? We've never spoken before.”
He ignored your comment, eyeing you up and down. “So, you got a girlfriend or boyfriend?” You scoffed, “Why, you wanna ask me out on a date? I thought you wanted to become a client of mine.”
“Can't I do both?”
”Well, I'd prefer it if you didn't.” You replied nervously.
“So you're telling me you've never dated any of your clients, not even big shots from the Hero Commission? Surely they–”
You furrowed your eyebrows at his series of questions, putting his arm down forcefully, surprisingly without any retaliation. Since he avoided your question, you decided to do the same right back. “What did you want to commission me for?” Your tone was coated with a slight annoyance. You didn't appreciate him being this way with you, especially since he mentioned that asshole Giran. Part of you felt he was just trying to get under your skin, see what your limits were, but who knew, maybe he didn't have ulterior motives.
Without skipping a beat, he put his hand inside his jacket, causing your anxiety to bubble up again, but what he pulled out made you feel less anxious. He handed you a rolled up piece of paper, presumably a blueprint. You opened it, seeing a design for a specialized syringe with a canister attached to it. “This for you?” He leaned against the back wall behind him, and since the alleyway was narrow, he was still somewhat close to you.
He shook his head, “That matter?” He crossed his arms, staring at you. “No, but why couldn't… whoever this is for… Contact me personally?” He shrugged, “Bosses order that I see to it.” ”Bosses orders?” Just what was I getting myself into? Who is his boss anyway?” You thought to yourself as Dabi uncrossed his arms and pulled out a cigarette again, and lit it with the tip of his finger again.
Now seeing it in front of you rather than from the corner of your eye, the blue flame that emitted from his finger was mesmerizing, it felt ethereal, and you felt like a moth to his flame. After lighting his cigarette, he didn't extinguish the flame. Rather, he switched it to his pinkie, making eye contact with you. You stifled a giggle at his show of talent, smirking. “You smoke?” You broke eye contact with his flame, snapping you out of your trance, meeting his gaze. “Oh-” You fumbled into your jacket pocket to pull out your own pack of cigarettes, opening it and pulling one out. As you stared down at your pack of cigarettes, your mind wandered back to when Dabi said “It's good to finally be face to face,” what did he mean by that? Have you really met him before online or something and forgot?
You put the cigarette pack back into your pocket, extending the tip of the cigarette out for Dabi to light it with his finger. “This even sanitary?” You joked, causing him to let out a small chuckle. “Want me to wash my hands? The flame would be stronger if I put hand sanitizer on them.” He joked back as you put the filtered end of your cigarette into your mouth, he laughed at his own joke. You laughed with him, then breathed in through your mouth, exhaling the smoke after holding it in your lungs for a moment. “How much is “your boss” willing to pay for the support item?” Dabi shrugged, “As much as it'll cost. Money's no issue.”
You contemplated for a moment. It was definitely suspicious that Dabi was the one coming to you for the commission, and especially in person. Most villains preferred to air on the cautious side rather than going all in, in case they thought you were an undercover cop or a spy for the Hero Commission, but Dabi seemingly didn't care. That either meant he did research on you, or was stupid.
“So what do you know about me?” You spoke up suddenly after a few moments of silence. Dabi's eyes went wide, seemingly caught off guard. “Sorry what?” He coughed out some smoke, staring at you. You decided to repeat yourself, “What do you know about me?” He cleared his throat, “Well, I know you're a support item maker for anyone, villain, vigilante, and hero alike. Other than that, nothing much.” He broke eye contact with you for once, causing you to become skeptical. You felt like he was hiding something, but maybe not. Maybe you were just being too paranoid and he was just caught by surprise. You noticed he was blushing a little, and he was fidgeting with the hem of his jacket. The sight of him being bashful made you smile without realizing it.
His eyes darted over to you. “So when do you think you can make the syringes?” You hummed, “Well, as soon as I get home. I just finished up the last commission for the month and was actually waiting for more to come in.” His eyes lit up, “Well then let's get you home. My boss really wants the syringes done as soon as possible.” You raised your eyebrows in surprise, “Are you going to come with me?” He nodded, “Well, if you can get them done by the end of the night, my boss would appreciate it if I came back with them, rather than empty handed. He'd get really upset with me if I came back to him with nothing to show.” You felt like he was trying to twist your arm, but you felt bad so you agreed, sighing. “Alright, I'll call us a cab.”
■■■■■
After calling a cab and taking you and Dabi to your apartment, you walked up the stairs with Dabi trailing behind you. “You got a roommate I should worry about?” Dabi jokes. “No, I live alone.” Dabi made a noise of satisfaction, causing your face to heat up again. The alcohol was starting to wear off, so his flirting was starting to get to you. You couldn't help it, but you tried to fight it. You knew there was something off about him, but you couldn't put your finger on it.
As you arrived at your apartment door, you pulled out your keys from your jacket, slightly fumbling to find which key it was. You could feel Dabi staring over your shoulder, but you decided to try to ignore him for now. Your face was still red, and you didn't want him seeing that on full display. You finally found your apartment key, which felt like forever but was actually less than a minute, putting the key into the door and unlocking it. You swiftly opened the door, the lights in your apartment automatically brightening. You walked in, Dabi following behind you, closing the door behind both of you.
“Um, do you want anything to drink?” You turned around to face him, hoping your face wasn't red anymore. He looked down at you amusingly, smirking slightly. “What do you have?” You walked to your kitchen, opening the fridge door, “Oh, make yourself at home by the way.” You blurted out, cursing yourself for being too hospitable this early after meeting him. “Thanks,” he replied. You hid your face behind the fridge door, resting your forehead against the butter door, closing your eyes.
”What am I doing? Why did I just willingly invite him here, all because he said his boss would get upset if he came back empty handed? Who cares, for all his boss knew, I have things to do and it's not like money can just be flashed at me and I'll clear my schedule for anyone. Ugh…”
Pulling you back to reality was Dabi's voice from the living room, “You good over there?” You quickly open your eyes, pulling your face away from the fridge door. “Yeah, sorry. I've got Sake, Red Wine, and Beer, but if you're not feeling alcohol, I have orange juice, milk, and water.” Dabi contemplated for a moment then said, “Water's fine.” You grabbed two water bottles and closed the fridge door, trying to mentally prepare yourself as you walked over to the couch, handing him a water bottle. “Thanks doll,” He flirted, smirking. You nodded, face starting to heat up again. You briskly walked over to your desk in hopes he wouldn't see your face turning red, setting down the water bottle and turning on the desk lamp.
You blushed out of embarrassment as you noticed how unorganized your desk was, hurriedly trying to gather all the papers and blueprints into one neat pile, but as you did so, you accidentally knocked the water bottle off the desk, and your box of tools. You flinched as it hit the ground, causing you to freeze in place. You could hear Dabi get up from the couch as you unfroze, quickly kneeling down to pick up the scattered tools and water bottle. Luckily you didn't open it yet, but the toolbox was another matter. You tried to quickly pick up the tools and shove them into the box, but Dabi stopped you as you shoved a few into the box by gently putting his hand over yours.
He had already knelt down in front of you, his eyes softening as you met his gaze. You were a nervous wreck tonight, and it wasn't helping that there was an attractive man in your apartment, a wanted villain at that. Your mind was screaming, telling you how suspicious he was, but your body was elsewhere. His eyes, you felt lost in them, and his voice turned you into jello. You wanted to know how his lips felt on yours, the difference in texture between his unburnt top lip and scarred bottom lip. He spoke up, “If you're not feeling well enough to start making the syringes tonight, it's okay. I'll just tell my boss I couldn't get a hold of you yet.” You shook your head, “N-No, I can do it, it's just–” He finished your sentence, “Been a long night. I know.” He lifted his hand from yours and gently rested the palm of his hand on your cheek, and you immediately melted at his touch, leaning into his hand.
You knew this logically was wrong, you only just met him today, but something made you feel like you could trust him, that he had your best interest in mind. He wasn't like Giran, Dabi actually seemed like he cared about your feelings.
You nodded slightly, “Okay… Thanks for understanding…” You couldn't break eye contact with him again, his eyes drew you in. They were like pools of water you couldn't help but sink deeper and deeper into, the blue tint calming you. He stood up slowly, holding onto your arms gently to help you stand up as well. You forced yourself to break eye contact, clearing your throat. You began to notice how fast your heart was racing, and how hot your face felt. Shit, he definitely noticed now. “I can pay for your taxi home–” you jumped slightly at the sudden crack of lightning outside, then followed the sound of rain pelting your windows. Just your luck.
He didn't bring an umbrella for obvious reasons, and you had to get yours fixed. You turned to look out the window, his hand still holding onto your arm, and yep, it was definitely pouring outside. You sighed quietly to yourself. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad for him to sleep on the couch– You only just met him, what were you thinking? This was wrong, but at the same time, you couldn't just send him out into the rain to become a drenched kitten. “No, it's okay, I'll cover it.”
You quickly turned back to him, “You can't go out there, you'll be soaking wet by the time the taxi shows up,” He interjected, “No, it's okay, really. I don't want to impose on you, we only just met after all.” You shook your head, “No, I insist. I don't want you getting sick because of me.” Your eyes widened, you just said that out loud. Shit. “What am I doing?! Why did I just say that?!” You cursed at yourself in your head. His eyes widened for a moment but he played it off, “If you want me to stay, you could've just said so.” His upper lids lowered as he stared at you, a smirk spreading across his face. You blushed a deeper red, playfully hitting his arm. “No, seriously.”
His smirk disappeared as he put his face next to yours, whispering in your ear. “I didn't want to leave anyway.” You gasped instinctively, a shiver running down your entire body. He chuckled in your ear softly, “So, about you knowing how to have fun, are you down to show me what that means?” You opened your mouth to speak, but the words got caught in your throat as your lower regions started to tingle with excitement.
You could feel your thighs shaking slightly, but you pressed them together in an attempt to hide that fact. ”I know I'll probably regret this later but… Fuck it… I can't hold myself back anymore.” You nodded, pressing your lips together tightly. You could hear your heartbeat in your ears again, it felt like your heart was about to explode out of your chest. Dabi groaned softly into your ear, his voice brought to a soft spoken tone, “I need to hear it. Tell me that you're willing, doll.” His tone was heavier, and it lit a fire underneath you. Your breath was hitched, and you pressed your thighs together even more. “I… I want you, Dabi…” He chuckled whispering closer to your ear, “So you did know my name all along. Guess you did your homework,” You quickly mumble out loud enough for him to hear, “I actually didn't remember your name until I saw you use your quirk…” You bit your lip, looking down. He hummed softly, “That's alright doll.” He pulled away slowly from your ear, gently grabbing your hand and leading you to the couch.
As you approached the couch and he sat down, you spoke up. “Um… I should warn you of something about me that may turn you off…” He looked up at you, “There are very few things that turn me off, doll, but go ahead.” You cleared your throat and looked away from him, “I'm trans.. I've only been on testosterone for a year and… Well… I haven't gotten any surgery yet…” He tilted his head, “You thought that would turn me off?” He ran his hands up your thighs, caressing them comfortingly, smiling. “Don't worry doll, I don't mind.” You looked at him, then down at his hands.
You nervously took off your jacket, laying it on the side of the couch closest to you. You bit your lip, not sure what to do next. He trailed his hands up to your ass, pulling you to sit on his lap facing him. You gasped slightly at the sudden feeling of his bulge underneath you. You could feel your boxers soaking even more as you felt his bulge grow even more at the contact. You met his gaze, biting your lip. He smirked, running his hands from your ass to your lower back.
His eyes trailed down to your lips, causing you to do the same to his. You quickly leaned in to kiss him hard, wrapping your arms around his neck. He gasped slightly at your lips impacting his, but soon after took the lead, kissing you with the same passion. As you melted into him, you felt him slide his hands underneath your shirt, his cold staples making you want to jerk away from his touch, but suddenly his hands started to warm up just enough that the coldness of his staples went away.
You sighed into his lips, then pulled away slowly, arms still wrapped around his neck. He looked up at you, “Are you comfortable with me touching your chest?” You thought for a moment, then nodded shyly. You had always been dysphoric to some extent about your chest, but for some reason you wanted him to feel your chest, to feel the texture of his hands on your chest…
He slowly slid his hands from your back to your stomach, pausing. “Just stop me if you get uncomfortable, okay?” He looked deep into your eyes as he waited for your reply. Your eyes softened at his gaze, you knew this was wrong but he made you feel so good. You nodded, “I will…” He hummed, “Good slut.” You felt your core heat up immediately at his praise mixed with degradation, causing you to let out a whine. He chuckled mischievously, then continued to slide his hands up your body, over your stomach and to your ribs, and then stopping on top of your chest.
You bit your lip as you felt your hard nipples against his fingers, now putting his pointer and thumb around your nipples, gently pinching them. You gasped through your closed mouth, closing your eyes at the rush of pleasure. He huffed, “You that sensitive, doll? How cute.” He began to rub your nipples in between his fingers, causing your breath to become hitched. He smirked, leaning into your neck and gently kissing your skin. You quickly opened your eyes and let your mouth open, your hitched breath turning into slight panting. He chuckled into your neck, his voice vibrating against your skin. “You really are cute, doll…” He said quietly, continuing to kiss your neck.
As he was rubbing your nipples and kissing your neck, you got out of your horny daze and realized what was going on. Part of you loved this and didn't want to stop and go all the way, but the logical side of you has been screaming this entire time, and it was time you finally listened. You knew Dabi had a connection with Giran, and you certainly did not want to become someone's sex toy again. At least not under someone else's accord.
You closed your mouth, grabbing his wrists to try to signal silently for him to stop. He immediately stopped at the feeling of your hands on him, and pulled away from your neck. “Did I go too far?” He looked deep into your eyes with a genuine concern, his voice a little shaky. You immediately felt guilty and wanted to tell him that he could continue, but you had to stand your ground. You shook your head, “I just.. I think I should get to know you more first before we go too far… If that's okay with you…” He replied immediately, “I'm okay with that, doll.. I'm sorry.”
“No no, it's okay, it's just–” You sighed as he pulled his hands out of your shirt, rubbing your back comfortingly. “It's okay, I get it. No need to explain yourself, doll. I'm not going to do anything you don't want me to.” You nodded, wrapping your arms around his stomach area. Even through his shirt you could feel his staples, and for some reason it was comforting. You rested your head on his chest, looking up at him. He smiled down at you, brushing some hair from your forehead to the side. “You know, normally I don't do aftercare, but… I guess you work some kind of magic on me…” He chuckled, breaking eye contact with you, looking down at his stomach. You smiled, burying your face into him. Under normal circumstances, you'd never want aftercare with anyone this soon, but he lulled you into a sense of security, like you could trust him. Even so, you knew you had to be cautious. You knew that even if a villain seemed good on the surface, there could always be a reason that wasn't the best as to why they're labeled as a villain.
■■■■■
After cuddling with Dabi for an hour or two, you decided to order take-out for both of you before the shops closed for the night. You ate with Dabi, and after finishing, you brought him a blanket and pillow for him to sleep on the couch with, and shortly after finishing up eating, he passed out. You had cleaned up the food trash and decided that this would be a better time than any other to start working on the syringes.
You made your way to your desk, looking out the window on the right side of your desk. The rain was still coming down hard, and it didn't look like it was letting up anytime soon. It's okay though, because you didn't mind the sound of rain as you worked.
After a few hours of working on the syringes, you decided to take a break. Looking at the clock on your phone, it read 2:57am. You were making pretty good time for the amount of work you had, you'd probably be done in another hour or two. You were starting to get somewhat tired though, so you decided that it was time for coffee. You quietly made your way to the kitchen to make yourself some instant coffee; normally you'd use your coffee grinder and all the other fancy stuff to make coffee, but the machine was loud and you honestly didn't really know how to work it. You got a coffee machine as a gift from Hawks after you finished the first support item for a friend of his, you don't remember what it was, but it was something that you remember working pretty hard on. Part of you wanted to impress him, but what you didn't realize at the time was that it was much more than just wanting to impress the Crimson Winged Hero…
You finished making your instant coffee, and as soon as you did, you heard the floor creak from behind you. Your heart began to race, frozen in place as your mind ran wild. Did Dabi wake up? If so, why was he in your kitchen? His raspy voice croaked out from behind you, sleep taking over his tone. “Hmmm.. You that dedicated to finishing, doll?” What normally sounded like smooth raspiness now sounded like gravel, yet it still sounded hot as ever. You squeaked out, “Maybe,” as you began to over stir the instant coffee despite it already being well mixed. He chuckled, “Well, don't let me disturb you then.” You already were doomed to be “disturbed” by the thoughts of him.
■■■■■
The rain clouds outside had already cleared up and the sun was just starting to peak over some buildings, sunlight barely grazing your apartment floor. You had just finished the support item for Dabi's friend aka his “Boss.” Thanks to the 3 or 4 coffees you had, you were able to make it through the night without too much tiredness to weigh you down, but you were starting to crash from the caffeine. Letting out a yawn, you heard Dabi waking up on the couch, he was much more audible now than when you were in the kitchen before. It was like he sleepwalked when you made your first coffee of the night, and perhaps he did because he seemed to not remember the event taking place.
“You still awake?” Dabi groggily sat up, looking over at you, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. You shrugged in response, “I finished the support item for your “boss,” if he even is that.” Dabi half chuckled, a smile creeping onto his face as his gaze drifted to the floor then back to you. “Thanks, doll~ How much do you want for it?” You hummed, thinking for a moment. “How does 35,000 yen sound?” He stood up, walking over to your desk, looking down at your work. “Only 35,000? Don't sell yourself so cheap, doll. Like I said, money's no issue.” He pulled his phone out of his pocket and was now doing something on it. You had a feeling he was opening his bank account app to transfer you money, you already gave him your bank details that he needed to send you money when you two were in the taxi. To double check that it was your account, he had sent you 69 yen. Classy. He thought it was funny; you had to admit it was at least a little funny, but not as funny as he made it out to be.
You sighed, “No, Dabi, really, it's fine. I don't need any more than that for it.” As you finished your sentence, your phone buzzed. You picked it up off your desk, turning your screen on to see what notification you had gotten. Dabi had sent you 60,000 yen, and you heard your heartbeat in your ears. You knew you were giving him a lower price than you should have been, but he doubled what you had asked from him. You could feel your cheeks burning, and a small chuckle escaped Dabi's lips. “Consider it a tip.” His head was tilted, a lazy smile on his face as you met his gaze. “Dabi, I can't accept this, I–” He cut you off, “Well, too bad.” You huffed, “Okay then.. Well. Thank you.”
He playfully rolled his eyes, “No need for formalities, doll. I already know what your typical going rate was and you definitely were under selling to me. I'm flattered, but I'm not a douche.” You felt your cheeks redden even more, ”He knew how much I typically charge customers…? Just how much research did he do on me before meeting me?”
He straightened up his posture, now a serious look on his face. “Thank you for your work, could I have the blueprints back?” He spoke as he grabbed the syringes off your desk, eyes scanning for where you put the blueprint. “Oh, sure,” You felt a little on edge at his sudden seriousness, quickly flipping through your pile of blueprints, pulling out the one he gave you and handing it to him. Normally when customers come to you and bring their own blueprints, they wouldn't care if you kept them or not, especially if they plan on becoming a regular customer of yours, maybe Dabi wasn't planning on coming back to you in the future…? For some reason, that hurt your heart a little, and you were scared as to why. You barely knew him, but part of you hoped he wouldn't abandon you like Giran or any other men you were involved with in the past…
Breaking you out of your thoughts at just the perfect time, Dabi cut through the silence that filled your apartment. “I won't ask you why you gave me a discount, but just know that in the future if you do that again, I'll send you triple the price.” You breathily laugh, smiling at him. “Alright, deal.”

Chapter Text
You found yourself waking up a bit earlier than usual today, and you saw it as an opportunity to be more productive than you usually were in the morning. First though, you had to eat. Your stomach was rumbling already and you were still laying in bed, all cozied up underneath your blanket.
You dramatically heaved out a sigh, uncovering yourself as you decided to get up, letting the sunlight from your bedroom window beam onto your half-naked body. You were too lazy to throw on your pajamas last night and decided to just sleep in your boxers. You reluctantly swung your legs to the side of your bed, sitting up and rubbing the sleep out of your eyes. Your eyes were drawn to your bedside table as you saw your phone lit up from the corner of your eye, making a small noise from a notification. Picking up your phone, you unlocked your phone to reveal a text message,
Bird Brain at 7:23AM
Good morning baby bird~ Hope you slept well! You eat yet?
You smiled at Keigo's nickname you had for him in your contacts, giggling. You set it as “Bird Brain” the last time you were mad at him and decided to keep it as a joke. He hated being called bird brain, but you relished in his annoyance.
Whilst thinking about Keigo, you remembered what happened yesterday and immediately felt butterflies in your stomach. It felt like a dream come true; the feeling of his lips against yours, the chills he sent up your spine with just his voice… Not only that, but he confessed his feelings to you!
You couldn't help falling back onto your bed happily, legs still dangling off the side, your smile widening as you thought more about yesterday night, clutching your phone to your chest.
Your thoughts are interrupted shortly after as you hear the sound of birds outside your balcony flying away all at the same time, probably due to something scaring them. Instead of hearing what you expected, the sound of all the birds flying away into the distance, one bird's wings remained flapping outside your apartment. You couldn't see the balcony from your bed, but based on what you hear outside at the moment, there was only one certain someone who could've scared away the birds.
You decided to quickly hide under your blanket, smirking to yourself before faking sleeping. Just in time as you turned your phone screen off to hide fully, the sliding glass door to your balcony slowly slid open.
You could hear the sound of Keigo shuffling around your living room, but given that you can't see him from underneath your blanket, you're not sure exactly what he's doing. Two things you notice distinctly though is the fact that it sounds like he's holding a paper bag, and something is wafting into your bedroom and you could smell it, despite still hiding under your blanket. It smells sweet? Your curiosity was killing you. What could he have brought?
You continued to listen for what he was doing, and his footsteps approached your open doorway, stopping presumably in the frame. You freeze, trying to further hide the fact you were awake. “Come on baby bird, I know you're awake. No use in hiding it now, I saw you read my message.” His tone sounded sly, like he was getting a kick out of the fact he immediately was able to see right through your facade.
You huff, promptly uncovering your head, laying the blanket in front of you. As your eyes adjust to the light again, you see that Keigo took off his jacket. Your eyes instinctively wandered to his chest, admiring how his shirt was nearly skin tight, showing much more definition than you had ever taken notice of in the past. Was he wearing a smaller size than normal? Or maybe you just hadn't noticed before… His arms were also very defined, some sweat was clinging to them, and you could see his shoulder muscles through the short sleeves. It made you want to squeeze them, to touch them…
Keigo clears his throat, causing your eyes to dart up to his pretty golden eyes. He chuckles as he ruffles his own hair playfully, “Someone's enjoying the view.” Your cheeks start to warm, immediately averting your gaze. He cooed, “It's okay cutie, I don't mind. Are you hungry?” He held up the paper bag that he's been holding, smiling at you with a soft gaze. That's right, you almost forgot with all your fawning over his muscles that he got you something that smelled sweet. Without waiting for your response, he continued. “Come on, up and at ‘em while the day is still new.” He stood up straight, smiling at you while waiting for you to crawl out of bed. You groaned, whining. “But my bed is so waaaaarm…” He quipped, “Well your food won't be warm much longer if we keep going back and forth,” You smiled at his words, “So you did get me food.” He nodded, a slight blush spreading across his face. “Yeah, is that okay? I mean, I don't want to impose if you already–" You quickly cut off his worried rambling by reassuring him, “It's very thoughtful of you, Keigo. Thank you.”
You finally uncover yourself, not minding that you're half naked in front of him. He noticed immediately though as his eyes took in the sight. He nervously cleared his throat, “Didn't know you slept in just your underwear,” He politely looked away from you as if he just walked in on you changing. You smile at how cute he was being as you stand up, walking past him in your bedroom doorway to your kitchen. You could feel his eyes were glued to your entire backside as you walked to your kitchen, but you didn't mind. You enjoyed his gaze, even when it was behind you. You had to admit that even when you were previously not the fondest of him, his pretty eyes were like two rhinestones that always made your skin feel like it would melt under his hot gaze.
You hear Keigo approaching behind you as you try your best to remember how to work the coffee machine Keigo gifted you. Despite having it for some time now, you hardly knew how to work it, and you were especially groggy this morning so you couldn't really remember. Keigo hummed, now next to you after setting the bag down. “Still don't know how to work it, baby bird? I really gotta teach you, don't I?” He said softly with a small smile, genuinely meaning what he said despite it sounding condescending. You bit your lip out of a nervous habit, your face starting to heat up again. “No, it's okay I think I–”
As you're about to press a button, Keigo grabs your hand gently enough that you stop moving it. You quickly look at his face, and he has a soft smile. He guides your hand, “You gotta turn the machine on first, cutie.” You look at your hand, seeing he put your finger over the power button. “Oh… Right…” Your face is burning now as you press the button. Despite having pressed the button, he doesn't let go of your hand but now instead guides it to another button, “This button is for boiling the water,” he moves your hand to the next button, “And this one is to brew the coffee.” You were listening to his words, but you couldn't help that you kept staring at only his hand, observing all the different scars he's gained from various fights. You were curious about each and every one of them, and part of you wanted to ask him about how he got them, but right now you couldn't. Maybe another day.
You drew your attention back to the coffee machine once he finished speaking, pressing the button to boil the water and the machine started heating it. He let go of your hand, putting his hand on your back and rubbing it comfortingly. Part of you wished he had kept his hand on yours. “Let's get some food in, yeah?” He tilted his head at you. You looked at him, smiling. You're so glad he was understanding. You honestly never bothered to remember what each button did, but part of you is glad you didn't because you wouldn't have had this moment with him if you had.
■■■■■
You had poured yourself a cup of coffee, opening the bag that Keigo left on the counter. It was a chocolate glazed donut. You smiled and walked over to the couch, donut and mug in hand.
Keigo was already sitting down on your couch and had turned on the TV. A news channel was playing, something about a recent villain attack being talked about. You scoffed at the sight of Endeavor on screen, causing a “Hmm?” from Keigo as he turned his head to look at you. You looked from the TV to Keigo, “Oh nothing. Just not a big fan of Endeavor...” You admitted meekly. Keigo smirked with his attention fully onto you now, “Really now? How come I didn’t know this about you sooner? You do know that as a kid I was Endeavor’s biggest fan, right?” Part of you was surprised, but you had a feeling Keigo was a fan of at least some big name Pro, given that his goal since he was young was to be a Pro as well. It being Endeavor though? You'd have expected it to be someone with some kind of flying quirk, or wings like him. Maybe there was a deeper reason why Endeavor out of all the top names.
You stifled a giggle, “Oh my god, that’s adorable.” You took a bite of your donut, sitting down on the couch next to Keigo. He continues, “Endeavor was someone I can confidently say I looked up to as a kid– still do. Although lately…” He trailed off, averting his gaze towards the TV, which was still playing a disgruntled Endeavor who was trying his best to get out of any interviews.
You felt slight tension so you tried your best to lighten the mood. “I guess there’s still things we have yet to learn about each other then.” You flirted, causing him to blush a little. “Thanks for the donut, by the way. Help yourself to anything in my kitchen if you're hungry, I'm sure flying around helping others is a tiring job.” You smiled at him, playfully poking fun at him. “Ah, I already ate. Thank you for the thought though~” He rested his arm on the back of the couch behind you, causing your cheeks to warm immediately. You moved closer to him, leaning slightly against him. He looked down at you, chuckling.
“No need to thank me honestly, it's the least I could do for all you've done to help.” He stretched out his wing, wrapping it around you comfortingly. It felt warm, and you could feel a few feathers tickling the back of your neck. Your face continued to heat up as you looked up at him. You couldn't help but feel so drawn to his aura, his kindness… And most of all, the first thing that drew you in when you first laid eyes on him: His pretty golden eyes paired with that sharp eyeliner, which in your opinion complimented each other so perfectly. You hear from the TV Endeavor's voice, causing you to ask, “Speaking about you getting help, do you work with Endeavor? I mean, I know you two talk occasionally but… Does he come to your Agency often? Or vice versa?” Keigo thinks for a moment, staring at Endeavor on the screen with a look on his face that you can't quite tell what he's thinking. He looks conflicted, but also angry? He snaps himself out of trance and looks back to you, “It's a little of both, but I mostly come to his Agency when I need advice. He's kind of… aloof.” You hum, listening to him ramble about his interactions with Endeavor.
While Hawks was rambling on, you notice on the TV from the corner of your eye Toga Himiko, and the words on screen “Recent attack near Endeavor Agency linked to LOV.” Your eyes widen as you notice she was using the support item you made for her in the eyewitness video. You couldn't be totally sure it was the one you made for her, but you can't help to think the worst. Would you get in trouble, if the police found out you had made a support item for an A-Rank Villain?
Keigo realizes you've stopped listening to what he’s saying, and looks over at the TV, then back to you. “Baby bird, you okay? You look like you’ve seen a ghost,” He chuckles slightly but there's a hint of worry in his voice. Your face starts to heat up as the newscaster starts to talk about Dabi, all of your memories from the day he came to your apartment flooded into your mind. Keigo pokes your cheek, “What are you so distracted by? Come onnn, I can't be–” He stops talking as he notices on the TV a picture of Dabi, the Hero Commission once again issuing a PSA about how dangerous he is, blah blah blah. “Oh, I see~ You’re blushing over Dabi, aren’t you?” You immediately look away, your cheeks burning at this point. “No I’m not, it’s just hot in here.” You set down your donut and mug onto the coffee table in front of you, about to get up to open a window for air but Keigo stops you by grabbing your arm. “We need to talk about this, baby bird. I feel like there's something you're not telling me.” You look at him with a deer-in-headlights look. “Shit. I can't tell him what happened between Dabi and I, he'll think I'm some kind of manwhore who’s easily persuaded by a pretty face and nice body,” You sit back down, trying to collect yourself to try to explain– lie about– what happened. But… Part of you knew you couldn't lie to him. He speaks softly after muting the TV, still maintaining eye contact with you. “What happened, baby bird? Did he hurt you?” You quickly shook your head, “No, nothing like that at all…” Your words trail off, eyes trailing down to your own lap. He turns his body to face you, putting his hand on your thigh, at first nervously but as his hand approaches closer, he gains confidence. “You know you can tell me anything and I won't judge you, right?” He moves a little closer, his wings fluttering slightly as he pulls them in so as not to hit you or anything on the coffee table. “Damn it, I can't lie to him when he has this tone…” You thought as you looked down at his hand. You looked back up at him, turning your body a little bit to face him as well. “Okay…” You began to explain to him what happened about a week ago, when you had met Dabi at the bar, how at first he spied on you, everything.
Keigo listened quietly, waiting for you to finish. As soon as you did, he squeezed your hand slightly and shifted his wings. “Nothing happened between you two other than him flirting?” His eyes searched yours as if hoping he would get an answer without you needing to speak. You hummed, contemplating whether you should tell him about what Dabi did to you. You shake your head, biting your lip anxiously. “He… Touched me. And I liked it.” Keigo looked away from you, his hand moving away from yours. Before his hand could get too far away, you grabbed it with both hands. His eyes darted back to you, and you pleaded. “Please, give me a chance to explain, Keigo…” Your voice became a little hoarse as it cracked. His eyes were stern, but they had a hint of regret and something else mixed that you couldn't decipher. You started, “This is the first time I've done anything with a client… I don't make exceptions.” His eyes flickered with sadness but he immediately regained his stern look, “What happened between us then?” Before the words could leave your mouth, your phone started ringing. Your eyes instinctively darted to see who was calling, and of course, as if on cue, it was Dabi. You felt blood rush to your cheeks and you looked from your phone back to Keigo, who was looking at you with an intense look. With your phone still ringing, you shot him an apologetic look and spoke, “I have to take this.”
Notes:
Thank you for your patience and I'm so sorry it took so long for me to finish this one! I hope you enjoyed ❤️
Chapter 4: News (NOT AN UPDATE)
Chapter Text
Hello everyone! I know that it's annoying when you see a new update and it's not an actual chapter but just the authors notes, but I figured it might be appreciated by some (hopefully) to get this as an update instead of just an added note to the last chapter.
I'm currently in the process of rewriting this because I do not write this anymore and honestly it's kind of embarrassing to look back on this and reread it, so I wanted to rework this and change it, but still keep the main plot idea of the reader being trans masc and having a thing(?) for both Hawks and Dabi. Stay tuned if you'd be interested!
Oh, I'll be making it as a separate posted fanfiction and keeping these chapters left as is for preservation but I'll be reformatting them because they are god awful and I am so sorry to anyone who had a hard time reading the way I would line break, this was my first long fanfic and I was experimenting at the time.
Thank you for your continued interest (if anyone is even reading this that isn't new) and I appreciate any and all kudos, comments, and bookmarks!
