Work Text:
The viral success of Antonina's new social media platform, Nimbus, was a surprise to the rising white hat. It had started as a small commission after Sol's request to have an Oasis-exclusive chatting program, yet soon ballooned into a full-blown networking site complete with personalised pages and a rolling feed.
Soon, there wasn't a single person at the Oasis who wasn't on Nimbus. For most, it was a reprieve from a monotonous work schedule and a way to keep up with the hubbub and the gossip. And whatever buffoonery Kuro was up to now.
Antonina admittedly wasn't the most outgoing character. Sure, she had her own Nimbus profile, but her inept sociability rendered her one of the more dormant users. She had likened it to being a 'ghost overseer' of sorts, simply content to observe the daily lives of others. The Professor, however, was all the rage. They were constantly trending, as even everyday mundane tasks like a meeting or walking became the source of many dry dramas and conspiracies alone.
Although she had promised never to pry into anyone's personal chats, the popularity of Nimbus essentially gave her the keys into anyone's lives. Everybody fully trusted Antonina's position, and she'd done well over the year to maintain it. Today, however, curiosity had overcome that responsibility.
She soon found herself hopelessly drawn to the Professor's private chats. The numerous appreciation letters, the secrets, and the occasional confession or two. She gasped, seeing even the most introverted users engage with the Professor and receiving warm reception in return - certainly something she did not expect.
Perhaps it was this newfound confidence of seeing others do the same, or perhaps it was an undisclosed appetite for warmth she never had. Before she knew it, Antonina had opened up Nimbus's chat screen.
"Hey, Professor."
