The five ways to win Kim Namjoon’s heart (+ his hyungs’ approval)

Summary:

The one where alpha Jungkook desperately wants to date and court omega Namjoon but he’ll have to go through Namjoon’s five overprotective omega hyungs first.

Game on, Jungkook supposes.

Notes:

Hi, this is my piece for this fest, I hope you enjoy! I had a lot of fun writing this.

For this story, I played around with the ages so keep that in mind. Basically, Namjoon is the youngest and a first year in university while Jungkook is a third year, and the rest of the tannies are fourth years.

This kinda gives me Scott Pilgram vibes lol but in this case Jungkook has to win the tannies approval to date Namjoon versus defeating them.

A small playlist for this story

And thank you to Hoshi for helping me out! I really appreciate it sm!

Prompt:

Jungkook wants to court the campus sweetheart Namjoon, but first he’s going to have to go through his hyungs.

I love world building, so anything like courting rituals is a plus! Just make Jungkook jump through hoops to get Namjoon haha

DW: protective ot5, sweet Namjoon, tough but sweet Jungkook.
DNW: whatever is banned by the fest

Work Text:

Wow, thigh,” Jungkook gasps, stopping mid run as he gazes across the university gym to where the omega and beta volleyball team is practicing.

Just five minutes ago, he and his taekwondo team had been grumbling like the world was ending when their coaches had told them they would be running inside one of the university gyms due to the rain outside. Running inside always means sharing the gym with other teams and running longer. Usually, Jungkook doesn’t mind, he loves working out and his sport but he has plans to meet his friends afterward and homework to complete.

But now, looking across the gym at the beautiful omega with beautiful thighs, Jungkook can’t find it within himself to complain about anything anymore. He can’t help but stare, leaving him feeling like he’s been struck by a million of Cupid’s arrows given how awestruck he is. Normally, he isn’t the type of alpha to stare so openly like this at anyone, usually, he’s a little shy but today, it seems that the universe has other plans. His sight is glued to one particular omega on the volleyball team, one of the tallest of the bunch, pretty, sun kissed skin, glorious legs, and even bigger thighs, all wrapped up in spandex.

The omega seems focused on the practice game they’re currently engaged in and doesn’t appear to be paying Jungkook much attention but Jungkook doesn’t even care right now. He’s too far gone for that. He wonders briefly if his scent has sweetened, wonders if that will get the omega’s attention, or worse, his taekwondo teammates who will tease him to death and back.

Jungkook-ah! Watch out!” Someone in the gym screams but Jungkook is too lost to hear them, much less notice the volleyball that’s currently coming his way at an impressive speed.

Suddenly, the pretty omega is turning to look at Jungkook except he doesn’t look amused or interested in him, no, he looks horrified as he runs over toward Jungkook at full speed.

The ball collides with the side of Jungkook’s face at a fast speed. It’s enough to knock some sense into Jungkook and form the beginning of a headache but none of that matters because the omega is running over to him. Jungkook can hear the wedding bells in the distant but that might just be the aftermath of getting decked by a volleyball.

“Are you okay?” The omega asks, anxiously wiping his hands on his spandex shorts and Jungkook feels like he might actually pass out from how close they are now, collision long forgotten.

This close, the omega is even prettier, covered in sweat, plump lips, and wide eyes full of concern. He looks like an angel, sent straight from the heavens, just for Jungkook.

“I’m fine!” Jungkook says, trying his best to remain chill but suddenly, he’s swaying on his feet and the omega is on him to help steady him before he falls over.

“I’m so sorry!” The omega starts profusely apologizing as he puts a hand on Jungkook’s bicep and another on his shoulder to keep him on his feet. “Normally, we have the entire gym to ourselves and flying balls aren’t a problem.”

Jungkook blinks and feels his head sway as he leans onto the omega. This must be heaven, there is no other explanation to what is happening. The omega smells so good too, like sweat and honey mixed together to create the perfect concoction. Jungkook decides right then and there that he’ll gladly take a hundred more volleyballs to the head if it means he gets to smell the omega this close every time.

“No, no, don’t worry about it,” Jungkook tries to reassure the omega as he lets himself be babied by him. “I didn’t even feel it.” It’s not a lie but not the truth either but it isn’t like he’s about to ruin this moment. He tries to blink away the throbbing behind his eyes as he looks over at the omega who looks at him with pretty brown eyes full of concern.

Jungkook smiles at him before rubbing at his eyes with his free hand. He startles when he opens them and finds the entire gym frozen and staring over at them. The volleyball team look at him with narrowed eyes full of suspicion, especially the one who Jungkook thinks is the captain, and his taekwondo teammates’ faces are morphed into teasing smiles.

“Jungkook-ah! Are you okay?” One of Jungkook’s coaches comes over to ask. “That volleyball hit you pretty hard. How are you feeling?”

“I’m fine,” Jungkook says. He’s starting to feel the heat coming off from the omega’s skin against his own with how long they’ve been standing so close to each other. Everything feels so overwhelming right now, from the gym’s bright lights, everyone staring at him, the omega’s presence, his scent, his face, and his eyes on Jungkook. Despite all the commotion, it’s… nice and Jungkook’s alpha eats up all the attention the omega is giving them, practically begging for seconds like some sort of gluttonous creature.

“You don’t look fine,” the omega argues, eyebrows furrowed together in worry.

Oh, he’s lethally cute, Jungkook thinks as he stares at him.

“Let me take you down to the athletic trainers,” the omega insists, gently putting his arm around Jungkook’s waist as if afraid Jungkook is about to faint. His hand is so warm on Jungkook’s skin, practically burning through the fabric of his shirt, it nearly makes Jungkook’s mouth water.

“Okay,” Jungkook says, accepting his fate perhaps a little too eagerly because his coach gives him a funny look before nodding. “If you insist.”

“It’s my fault anyway,” the omega says as he helps Jungkook out of the gym. “Sorry about that.”

“No, no, don’t apologize,” Jungkook reassures him. “You must have one hell of a spike to launch a volleyball that hard and fast across the gym.”

The omega’s lips twitch, threatening to pull his pouty lips into a smile. “You think so?”

“I would say so,” Jungkook says. “You nearly knocked me out cold.” He smiles. “My name is Jungkook by the way, I’m on the taekwondo team.”

The omega nods. “My name is Namjoon, I play volleyball,” he gestures towards Jungkook’s head. “But you already know that given what happened back there.”

Jungkook laughs. “Trust me, I won’t be forgetting anytime soon either.”

Namjoon’s cheeks flare a dark pink and Jungkook can’t help but be endeared at the sight of him. “What are you studying?” He asks, trying to change the subject as they walk.

“I’m a third year, studying digital art,” Jungkook says. “I really like drawing.”

“That’s cool, I’m a first year,” Namjoon informs him. “I’m studying art history.” He smiles at Jungkook and oh, cute dimples, as if he wasn’t deadly enough. “That means you’re my hyung.”

“You can call me anything you want,” Jungkook proposes a little too quickly.

Namjoon laughs as if Jungkook has just him the funniest joke ever in existence. “Okay, hyung, I’ll keep that in mind.”

They arrive at the athletic trainers office a little too soon for Jungkook’s liking. The athletic trainers assure Namjoon he can return to practice but he seems apprehensive to go.

“Are you sure he’ll be fine?” Namjoon asks one of the trainers. He has a hand on Jungkook’s shoulders as if afraid Jungkook is about to disappear.

“Your boyfriend might have to sit out for the rest of the day but he looks good so far,” the trainer promises, looking between the hand on Jungkook’s shoulder and Namjoon. “Go back to practice, Namjoon-ah, he’ll be just fine.”

Namjoon looks a little taken aback but doesn’t correct the trainer. His face flushes as he bows to dismiss himself. Jungkook can’t help but be endeared at the sight of him.

“I’ll see you after practice, okay?” Jungkook promises. “Just so you can see I’m fine for yourself?”

Namjoon nods as he leaves. “Okay, you better.”

“He’s not my boyfriend,” Jungkook tells the trainer once Namjoon has left. “He was the one who hit me with the volleyball and I think he felt bad so he helped me here.”

The trainer nods. “Ah, that makes sense,” she comments. “He’s the youngest on the volleyball team and his teammates are extremely protective of him. I was surprised he had a boyfriend, much less an older alpha one at that.”

Jungkook purses his lips. “Just how overprotective are we talking here?”

“Seokjin-ie, the captain, takes good care of Namjoon-ie, he rarely lets him out of his sight most days,” the trainer explains. “The co-captain, Hoseok-ie, might be worse, they love him so much, not to mention the rest of the teammates.”

Jungkook nods as he listens. Surely, these teammates cannot be that overprotective of Namjoon. This is university after all so he wants to be optimistic given that Namjoon is the first person that has managed to get his attention.

“Namjoon-ie is a sweetheart,” the trainer mentions. “It makes sense why the team takes such good care of him.”

Namjoon is a sweetheart, at least from Jungkook has gathered and he’s determined to show his sincere interest in him. He remembers what his dam said to him once when he was a pup, about how she’d seen Jungkook’s sire randomly one day and decided right then and there that he would be hers eventually. Jungkook didn’t understand that story very well back then since he was a still a pup and scrunched his nose at any mention of dating, much less mating, but now that he’s seen Namjoon, he sees the appeal.

Much to Jungkook’s relief, he’s deemed fine by the athletic trainers and dismissed. He manages to make it back to the gym as everyone is heading to the locker rooms.

Jungkook scans the gym after reassuring his coaches that he’s fine and will be able to participate in their upcoming tournament. Honestly he’s never been better. He’s on cloud nine at the moment just at the thought of Namjoon.

He frowns when he doesn’t spot Namjoon as he looks around a few times. Maybe Namjoon left already or maybe he forgot that Jungkook had promised he’d come back at the end of practice. Maybe Jungkook’s mind imagined their connection earlier given how hard the volleyball hit him.

Jungkook-hyung!”

Jungkook turns around like he’s been possessed at the sound of Namjoon’s voice calling out to him. He smiles when he sees Namjoon walking over to him with a bright smile, now freshly showered and wearing a hoodie and joggers. Jungkook’s smile fades a little when he looks behind Namjoon and sees two very scary omegas giving Jungkook the death glare from where they stand.

That must be the captain, Seokjin and co-captain, Hoseok.

Just the sight of them makes Jungkook freeze a little where he stands. They remind Jungkook of two large lions watching their little cub run around, ready to attack at the first sign of danger.

“See, I told you I’d be fine,” Jungkook says once Namjoon is close enough. “You’ll have to aim the ball harder next time if you really want to do damage.”

Namjoon huffs. “It was an accident,” he swears. “I got distracted.” He shakes his head. “I’m happy you’re okay, I was thinking about you during practice.”

“I’m fine, see,” Jungkook promises, gesturing towards his head.

“I just feel terrible, I’m usually not that clumsy,” Namjoon mumbles.

“I wouldn’t say you’re clumsy if you’re on the university’s beta and omega volleyball team,” Jungkook argues. “I’ve heard you guys are really good and that the team doesn’t just take anyone.”

Namjoon smiles. “Says you,” he huffs. “I’ve heard you’re really good at taekwondo. I saw all your coaches freaking out while you were getting checked out.”

Now, it’s Jungkook’s turn to blush for several reasons. One, how does Namjoon know about his taekwondo achievements, and second, just how long has Namjoon know about Jungkook in general?

“Let me make it up to you,” Namjoon offers. “Do you want to get dinner together?” He looks hesitant as if afraid Jungkook will regret him.

“Of course,” Jungkook rushes to answer. He hopes this is actually happening and that this isn’t a hallucination after the volleyball knocked him out earlier. “But it’s my treat, okay?” He insists. “Because, you know, I’m your hyung.”

Namjoon looks dazed at that. “Okay,” he smiles. “Let me go grab my things and I’ll meet you here.”

Jungkook smiles. “Don’t rush, I have to go change too so take your time, I promise I’ll be waiting here when you get back.”

Namjoon nods and takes off, nearly slipping in his haste and giving Jungkook a heart attack.

“Jungkook, is it?” Someone asks, snapping Jungkook out of his trance.

There, standing in all their glory is Seokjin, omega, captain of the omega and beta volleyball team, gorgeous and deadly all in one. Now, Jungkook has heard of Seokjin and has seen him a few times around campus. There have been a few rather unlucky souls that have tried asking him out and have all failed miserably.

“Hi, yes?” Jungkook answers, taking a step back as Seokjin and Hoseok come towards him, arms crossed across their chests.

Seokjin narrows his eyes. “Just exactly what are your intentions with Namjoon-ie?” He demands.

“My intentions?” Jungkook mumbles. “Well, I think Namjoon-ie is—”

“Listen here, baby alpha,” Seokjin warns Jungkook. “Namjoon is my dongsaeong and I’m not about to let just anyone get close to him, much less date him.”

Jungkook flusters.

“Don’t think we’re not aware of your history and reputation,” Hoseok chimes in from behind Seokjin, trying his best to look intimidating.

“Your reputation certainly proceeds you, baby alpha,” Seokjin lets him know.

“Seokjin-ssi,” Jungkook pleads, holding his hands up in front of him. “My reputation—”

“Is terrible, stay away from my dongsaeong!” Seokjin growls.

Jungkook frowns. Okay so maybe he has a reputation among the university here and there but in his defense it isn’t anything bad or something he did with malicious intent. In the three years he’s been in university, he has never had a serious relationship, this hasn’t been because of a lack of desire to, it’s just been that he hasn’t met someone he’d like to date yet.

But during this last three years, he’s talked to a few people, maybe had an occasional hookup here and there, but nothing has ever evolved from it. The problem and his supposed reputation comes from a few people who have felt the need to badmouth Jungkook after whatever they had going on ended and nothing came out of it. Jungkook for one has never mistreated a past fling, alpha, beta, or omega alike. His dam would skin him alive if she ever caught wind of that happening and Jungkook would rather much be alive and not a piece of shit in society.

All three of them turn when Namjoon rejoins them with his bag slung over his shoulder. “Hyung, you haven’t changed yet,” he points out as he looks at Jungkook. “What’s going on?” He asks, looking over at Seokjin and Hoseok.

“Nothing!” Seokjin smiles. “Are you ready to go?”

“Actually, Jungkook-hyung and I are going to grab dinner together,” Namjoon says, making Seokjin’s smile tighten. “I’ll meet you back at home, okay, I won’t be long.”

“Are you sure, Namjoon-ah?” Hoseok chimes in. “We were planning to over to Yoongi’s place after this for some dinner.”

Namjoon nods. “Yeah, it’s okay!” He smiles. “Even if it gets late, I’m sure Jungkook-hyung won’t mind walking me home, right?” He looks over at Jungkook.

Jungkook goes still where he stands. He feels put on the spot but can also sense a little of what Namjoon is trying to do here. It’s obvious that Seokjin and Hoseok are trying to sway Namjoon into going home and ditching Jungkook but it seems that Namjoon has other plans.

Namjoon smiles at him, pretty and dimpled and Jungkook melts and just like that, he’s about to make enemies out of the volleyball captain and co-captain.

“I’ll walk you home, I don’t mind at all,” Jungkook seals his fate. He looks over at Seokjin and Hoseok and smiles. “I’ll take good care of him, don’t worry.”

Seokjin and Hoseok look like they’d rather eat glass than let Namjoon go with Jungkook but smile, fake and tight as Jungkook leads Namjoon away.

“Just wait for me one second, I just have to change,” Jungkook tells Namjoon once they’re out near the locker rooms and away from Seokjin and Hoseok. “I’ll be quick!”

Jungkook rushes inside and grabs his things before sprinting to the showers. He takes the fastest shower of his life and rushes to get changed, trying to get back to Namjoon as fast as he can.

He’s in the process of putting his shoes back on when Chaewon, another member of the alpha taekwondo team looks over at him from where she’s brushing her wet hair, clearly just having finished her own shower. “Are you alright?” She asks him, looking more amused than anything. “You’re usually the last one to leave practice given how late you like to stay to get some extra training in whenever you can.”

Jungkook nods, gnawing at his bottom lip. “Usually but tonight, uh, I’m grabbing dinner with someone so I’m trying to hurry.”

“Oh?” Chaewon smiles, coming closer. “Who is it?” She asks. “I didn’t know you were talking with someone again, not since what happened with your last fling.”

Jungkook grimaces at the thought of Jiwon, a beta he’d been seeing here and there. Jiwon had been nice and their time together had been fun but they weren’t compatible enough to date. Jiwon hadn’t taken Jungkook’s suggestion of maybe just staying friends too lightly so he’d gone on a rather vicious smear campaign, one that apparently reached the ears of Seokjin and Hoseok.

“No, it’s not like that, we’re just friends,” Jungkook explains. “It’s Namjoon-ie from the beta and omega volleyball team, the one who hit me in the head earlier with the volleyball.”

Chaewon chuckles. “Kim Namjoon?” She asks. “Well, it certainly looks like it’s like that given how flustered you look but a piece of advice,” she says. “His teammates and friends are pretty overprotective of him so good luck. He’s the youngest starter on the team so everyone takes good care of him since he’s so young. They all call him the sweetheart of the team so good luck trying to get around his bodyguards.”

Jungkook frowns. “We’re actually getting dinner together, just him and I.”

“Are you sure about that?” She asks, pursing her lips. “I remember Son Hyunwoo from the alpha baseball team was interested in him at the start of the semester. He even asked Namjoon-ie out and everything but uh, let’s just say a pretty omega from the volleyball team scared him away real quick, I think his name was Taehyung?”

“Really?” Jungkook furrows his eyebrows together.

Chaewon nods. “They’re overprotective of Namjoon-ie, I’m telling you!”

“It can’t possibly be that bad, right?” Jungkook snorts as he stands up to go. There is absolutely no way it’s that bad. Chaewon has to be pulling a fast one on him, that’s probably the case here. The entire taekwondo team loves to tease him constantly.

Besides, just how intimidating can Namjoon’s friends be?

Jungkook ends up taking Namjoon to one of his favorite spots near the university. It’s cheap, the food is good, and it proves to be the perfect place to get to know Namjoon.

“I’ve just always loved art,” Namjoon says as they eat. He’s been rambling about his major for the past half hour and Jungkook has listened to every word of it, constantly asking him questions, and encouraging him to continue. “My parents took me to museums a lot when I was a pup and it really sparked something inside of me.”

“I love art too,” Jungkook admits, smiling when Namjoon’s eyes light up at his words.

“It’s cool you’re into drawing,” Namjoon says. “I’ve never been particularly good at that,” he confesses. “I’ve always liked observing and studying it more. I think it helps me enjoy art more since I’m not constantly comparing myself to artists.”

“I can understand that,” Jungkook says. “I feel like I’m constantly comparing myself to other taekwondo fighters and artists.”

“You’re so good, though, hyung,” Namjoon protests. “You’re like the best fighter on the alpha taekwondo team!”

Jungkook smiles as he takes another bite of food at Namjoon’s praise. He feels spoiled by Namjoon’s sweet words and is quickly developing an appetite for them. “You’ve been to one of my matches before?” He asks, searching his memories of the last few matches and tournaments he’s had, wondering how he missed Namjoon in the crowd.

Namjoon looks caught off guard at the words before nodding shyly. “Just a few,” he admits. “A friend from one of my classes invited me so I tagged along and I saw you a while back. You were really good.”

“Well, in that case, I’ll have to come watch you play volleyball so we’re even,” Jungkook promises, watching Namjoon’s cheeks turn pink.

“Would you really?” Namjoon asks as he looks down at the table, suddenly finding it very interesting as his face flushes. “That would be really cool if you could but you don’t have to.”

“Of course, I would,” Jungkook reassures him. “I’ve heard you’re really good, not to mention a starter as a first year. That’s beyond impressive, Joon-ah,” Jungkook praises him, finding Namjoon’s shyness endearing.

“I’ll do my best when you come to watch, hyung,” Namjoon promises, scent turning nervous but excited. “I’ll try to win just for you.”

“I know you will,” Jungkook reassures him, smiling when Namjoon smiles at him. “So how did you start playing volleyball if you’re into art?” He asks.

“It was random,” Namjoon admits. “I was at the park when I was about ten and joined a group of kids that were playing and they were all part of a club and told me I should join so I begged my parents to let me try it.”

Jungkook nods as he listens. He’s so focused on Namjoon that he almost doesn’t notice the figure behind them that’s intensely staring his and Namjoon’s way. It’s an omega, short, and trying his best to look intimidating.

Wait…he looks oddly familiar.

Jungkook tries to remember where he’s seen this omega before. That’s right, he’s on the beta and omega volleyball team. He’s the libero. Jimin, was it?

Ah.

This must be Seokjin and Hoseok’s doing because why else is this omega from the volleyball team here at this restaurant at this particular time. Jungkook comes to eat here quite often and he’s never seen this omega here before.

“What is it?” Namjoon asks as he looks over his shoulder.

The omega turns around and that tells Jungkook everything he needs to know. This omega is definitely here spying on Jungkook and Namjoon and he does not want Namjoon knowing.

“Nothing,” Jungkook lies. “I thought it was raining…but back to what you were saying, Namjoon-ah.”

Namjoon smiles, pretty and dimpled. “Okay, so my first volleyball practice was filled with me learning how to serve and spike and I was so clumsy, hyung, you wouldn’t believe it.”

Jungkook laughs. “I’d believe it.”

“You’re teasing me,” Namjoon practically pouts. He’s too cute for his own good.

They fall back into conversation soon after, the omega watching them long forgotten since Jungkook doesn’t want to ruin the night and he’s determined to prove Seokjin wrong.

“Are you sure you don’t mind walking me home?” Namjoon asks as they walk out of the restaurant.

“Not at all, it’s late and I want to make sure you get back to your apartment safely,” Jungkook promises. “Besides, your captain and co-captain seemed pretty worried about you earlier.”

“That’s just Seokjin-hyung and Hoseok-hyung,” Namjoon mumbles as he readjusts his backpack and duffle. “They worry a lot.”

“Here, I’ll carry that for you,” Jungkook offers, reaching out for Namjoon’s bags.

Namjoon smiles shyly and hands them over. “You sure?” He asks. “This was supposed to be me treating you after almost knocking you out earlier, not the other way around.”

“I don’t mind one bit,” Jungkook swears and he means it. “So, your friends are really, uh, overprotective?”

Namjoon tongues his cheek. “They just worry too much about me,” he says. “Especially Seokjin-hyung since we live together.”

“You like living with him?” Jungkook asks.

Namjoon scent turns sweet with happiness. “I like it,” he admits. “Hyung is nice, he cooks for us, reminds me to rest, helps me practice for volleyball, and helps me study.”

Jungkook smiles, finding that he likes the sight of Namjoon being happy and content. “That’s good, Namjoon-ah, the first year of university is always the hardest. I remember my first year, I barely remembered to rest, let alone study…”

They make small walk as they walk. It’s nice, really nice and Jungkook can’t help but grow even more endeared with Namjoon every step of the way. They exchange information to stay in contact and Jungkook is over the moon. Namjoon seems to be just as excited about the sudden turn of events. His scent smells so sweet and enthralling. Jungkook imagines his smells the same.

“Thank you, hyung, for walking me home,” Namjoon mumbles as they get to Namjoon and Seokjin’s apartment building.

“It was no problem,” Jungkook smiles, handing Namjoon his bags. “Actually, I don’t live too far from here.”

Namjoon’s eyes go wide. “Really?” He smiles. “Maybe we could—”

“If you ever wanted to hang out,” Jungkook accidentally puts Namjoon off, making the omega smile. “You go ahead.”

Before Namjoon can repeat what he said, there’s a figure coming out of the apartment building looking less than amused. He’s pretty, omega, and Jungkook also remembers him from the beta and omega volleyball team.

“Namjoon-ah!” The pretty omega calls out to Namjoon with a boxy smile. “There you are, I’ve been waiting for you.”

“Hyung,” Namjoon greets him. “What are you doing here?”

“I came over to see you and Seokjin-hyung,” the omega admits. “Seokjin-hyung said you were out though, I was worried.” He looks over at Jungkook with an unimpressed look. “I didn’t know you were on a date though.”

“It wasn’t a date!” Namjoon hurries to correct, scent turning nervous as he glances over at Jungkook. “We just went out to get dinner, that’s all.”

“Is that so?” The omega frowns as he eyes Jungkook up and down. “I didn’t know you knew alphas from the taekwondo team.”

“I didn’t know them, not personally until today,” Namjoon admits. “And I just know Jungkook-hyung.”

Jungkook puts his hand on Namjoon’s shoulder. “We were just getting dinner as friends, right, Namjoon-ah?” He gives Namjoon a warm smile, hoping to ease some of Namjoon’s nerves.

“Friends?” Namjoon repeats, looking over the moon at Jungkook’s words and the hand on his shoulder.

The omega grumbles something, practically giving Jungkook the stink eye where Namjoon can’t see him. It seems that Jungkook will just be making enemies out of all of Namjoon’s friends but so be it because Namjoon doesn’t seem opposed to their new found friendship in the least.

Jungkook doesn’t except to see Namjoon the next day at the university library. Granted, he’s normally not in here often but today, he had a few things to finish up and needed a quiet place to work. He usually works at his apartment that he shares with two teammates but he didn’t have time to go back before his next class so the library seemed like the best choice.

Now, looking over at the lobby where Namjoon is walking in, it seems like it was the best choice. Namjoon looks nice today, dressed in a nice cardigan and his cute glasses.

Namjoon and Jungkook messaged a little last night, with mostly Namjoon asking him if got back to his apartment okay and Jungkook telling him to get some rest that night.

The library is pretty full today and Namjoon’s pretty eyes sweep across the room in search of a spot. His pouty lips frown when he doesn’t find anything but then, his eyes land on Jungkook and his face lights up.

Jungkook smiles and waves him over. Namjoon practically sprints through the library towards the table Jungkook is sitting at.

“Hyung,” Namjoon whispers as he takes off his backpack and sits down. “What are you doing here?”

“I was just working on some assignments,” Jungkook whispers back, gesturing towards his tablet and laptop on the table. “I didn’t think I’d be seeing you so soon.”

“Me neither,” Namjoon whispers back, carefully taking out his own laptop. “I usually come here between classes to get some work done.”

They end up working together in the library for a good while. It’s peaceful and eventually Jungkook takes out his phone and wireless earbuds, shyly offering one to Namjoon.

“This one is my favorite,” Jungkook whispers as he plays Namjoon a song while they get their work done. Somehow, Namjoon ended up moving to sit beside Jungkook who they wouldn’t disturb anyone close by with their whispering.

Oh, I love this singer,” Namjoon admits.

“You like it?” Jungkook asks, finding himself leaning closer.

“They’re going on tour soon, you know,” Namjoon casually mentions as he leans on one elbow and looks over at Jungkook.

“Were you planning on going?” Jungkook asks him, smiling at the sight of Namjoon wearing glasses. They really bring out his features.

“I’m not sure,” Namjoon admits, gnawing at his bottom lip. “No one I know really listens to them.”

“Maybe… maybe if you’re not busy that day, you and I could go together?” Jungkook offers, feeling his pulse race. He hopes his nervousness isn’t obvious in his scent.

“Really?” Namjoon smiles. “That would be cool!” His eyes go wide as he notices his mistake and covers his mouth as he starts to softly laugh before any of the students can glare at him while they study. It’s endearing and makes Jungkook smile.

“It’s a date,” Jungkook promises. “If that’s cool with you?” He hopes he isn’t reading the situation wrong. “As friends or you know, anything you want.”

“I’d like that,” Namjoon confesses. “I’d like that a lot, hyung.”

Jungkook smiles, feeling a little taken aback when he looks over Namjoon and sees someone watching them with sharp, fierce eyes. It’s yet another omega from the beta and omega volleyball team, one with cat-like eyes. He’s looking at Jungkook like he wants to personally tear him apart, piece by piece.

Scary.

It seems that the entire team at this point is determined to keep Namjoon safe from Jungkook’s clutches. Too bad for them that Namjoon seems more invested in Jungkook than any of them would like for him to be.

Namjoon and Jungkook keep talking and messaging despite Namjoon’s friends’ best efforts to keep them apart.

Jungkook gets it, honestly, he does. Namjoon is far too kind and trusting, it makes sense why his friends want to keep him safe and away from an alpha that they’ve all deemed unfitting because of rumors. Still, that doesn’t mean it deters Jungkook in the least.

Seokjin and Hoseok as well as the other unnamed omegas might be scary but Jungkook is nothing but persistent which is why tonight he is taking Namjoon out to a movie after a few weeks of hanging out away from prying eyes and messaging back and forth.

It’s their first official date, something Jungkook didn’t think would ever happen but just it seems that the planets and stars aligned for it to happen. Well, actually they’d been walking together after their respective practices had ended, while two of Namjoon’s hyungs followed behind them, and the topic of this new popular movie had come up and one thing lead to another, and suddenly, Jungkook was asking Namjoon out.

Jungkook meant it as friends but Namjoon, pretty and sneaky Namjoon, had asked him if he meant it as a date and well, Jungkook is weak in the eyes of Kim Namjoon, and he does very much want to date him, even if means gaining enemies along the way. All’s fair in love and war, after all.

So, here Jungkook is, standing right in front of Namjoon and Seokjin’s apartment door to pick up Namjoon for their date. To say he is nervous is an understatement, one would think he is about to jump into shark infested waters covered in chum. To be fair, he has reason to be scared since every time he and Namjoon hang out, one of Namjoon’s hyungs seems to be lurking in the back corner watching them, ready to strike if Jungkook moves a step out of line.

Jungkook wants to make a good impression so he dressed up tonight and even did his hair, all his roommates said he looked presentable and tamed, whatever that means.

“Be cool, be cool,” Jungkook mumbles to himself as he knocks on the door.

The door opens and lo and behold, the omega with cat-like eyes stands there, looking less than amused.

“Hello, I’m here to pick up Namjoon,” Jungkook lamely says. He was expecting Seokjin but somehow, this is far more intimidating.

“Are you now…” the omega mumbles. “Come in and take your shoes off.”

Hyung, please,” Namjoon begs from somewhere inside the apartment.

“Calm down, Namjoon-ah,” Seokjin replies. “We only want to ask your baby alpha a few questions, that’s all.”

“But did everyone have to be here?” Namjoon practically whines.

Everyone? Jungkook thinks as he steps inside and toes off his black combat boots. He blinks once then twice as he comes face to face with five of Namjoon’s hyungs. He’s seen all of them before from the past times they’ve all spied on Namjoon and Jungkook in the past few weeks.

“Hyung, you’re here,” Namjoon greets Jungkook, smiling softly at the sight of him. He looks lovely tonight, dressed in dark jeans and a long sleeve shirt. “This is Yoongi-hyung.” He gestures towards the omega that opened the door. “That’s Jimin-hyung and over there is Taehyung-hyung, and well you already know Seokjin-hyung and Hoseok-hyung. We all play volleyball together.”

“It’s nice to meet you, Jungkook,” Taehyung says but his tone lets Jungkook know that’s anything but the case. “So what are your intentions with Namjoon-ie?” He asks, eyebrows furrowed.

“Yes, baby alpha, just what exactly are you planning since you’re taking our sweet Namjoon-ie out tonight?” Jimin demands, arms crossed.

“Just you know, grabbing something to eat and watching a movie,” Jungkook answers, watching Namjoon try not to melt from the embarrassment out of the corner of his eye. “I like Namjoon and I want to take him out, if that’s okay with you guys.”

“Define okay,” Hoseok huffs.

“Hyung, please,” Namjoon begs Hoseok. “It’s just dinner and a movie, I’ll be back before you know it.”

“Just don’t stay out too late,” Seokjin advises. “Midterms are coming up and we have a game on Tuesday.”

“And keep your phone on,” Jimin adds in. “Just in case we need to reach you.”

“And don’t do anything you feel pressured into doing,” Taehyung says. “I’m one quick message or call away, Namjoon-ah and I’m not afraid to kick alpha ass that’s for sure.”

“We just want you to be safe,” Yoongi voices his concerns. “We care a lot about you, Namjoon-ah.”

“We’ll be fine, I promise!” Namjoon practically bemoans. “We have to go before we miss the movie.” And with that, he’s grabbing Jungkook’s wrist and practically dragging him out, barely giving them time to put their shoes on.

“Sorry about them,” Namjoon apologizes to Jungkook as they walk out of the apartment building. “They’re always like that.”

“It’s okay,” Jungkook promises, although, he can see two of them making their way out of the apartment building and following behind them, looking an awful lot like Yoongi and Jimin. “They just care about you.”

“I supposed you’re right,” Namjoon mumbles. “I was just worried they would scare you away and you’d reconsider our date.”

Jungkook frowns and reaches over to take Namjoon’s hand, interlacing their fingers. “Hey, I promise, whatever they say won’t change my mind, okay?” He offers Namjoon a soft smile. “I like you.”

Namjoon’s scent turns sweet. “I like you too.”

“Then it’s settled, don’t worry, okay?” Jungkook promises. “Let’s go grab some dinner and watch a movie.”

“Okay,” Namjoon smiles, holding Jungkook’s hand just the tiniest bit tighter.

Dinner goes smoothly and they make it to the movie in record time. It’s some kind of drama movie with romance involved, something about a couple who can never truly be together. Jungkook likes it just enough but finds that he likes looking over and watching Namjoon’s expression even more.

Namjoon catches him looking nine times out of ten but doesn’t protest, instead smiles as he pretends to be annoyed. He’s cute, Jungkook could eat him alive.

They end up leaning their heads together towards the end.

“You having a good time?” Jungkook asks him, finding that Namjoon smells ten times better this close up. His scent is addicting.

Namjoon smiles against him and turns to look at him. It feels intimate this close but it feels right. “I am,” he whispers, trying to be mindful of the other people in the theatre. “Are you?”

“The best time,” Jungkook whispers back and he means it. They’re both staring at each other, so close that Jungkook can see every pretty detail on Namjoon’s face like this that’s illuminated by the movie. “I meant what I said earlier, I really like you.”

Namjoon’s smile grows. “Really?” He whispers back.

“Really,” Jungkook whispers back, leaning just the tiniest bit closer to whisper in Namjoon’s ear. “Despite whatever anyone else is telling you. I like you.”

And maybe, just maybe, before the movie ends and the lights turn back on, they kiss and it’s sweet with Jungkook cradling Namjoon’s face in his hand and Namjoon’s hand wrapped around Jungkook’s wrist. It’s sweet and everything in between. Maybe Jungkook is falling hard but it’s proving hard to resist someone as sweet and loving as Namjoon, that much is true.

Jungkook also doesn’t fail to notice Jimin and Yoongi who are discretely sitting a few rows back from them, probably keeping an eye on them. Oh well, if liking and being with Namjoon means enduring Namjoon’s hyungs then Jungkook will gladly do it a million times over.

“I want to ask Namjoon-ie out,” Jungkook confesses to Chaewon and Yunjin, another alpha taekwondo teammate.

They’re finishing up getting ready for a tournament and Jungkook finds himself thinking of Namjoon again, which isn’t a rare occurrence given that that’s all he thinks about these days. It’s been two weeks since that movie date and Jungkook is more than ready to ask Namjoon to be his boyfriend.

“What, like as in dating?” Yunjin asks. “Since when do you date?”

“Since now,” Jungkook says. “And yes, like dating, I want to date him.”

“Oh, you’re down so bad,” Chaewon sighs. “I mean he’s pretty, I don’t blame you but his entourage is kind of intimidating.”

“Trust me, I know,” Jungkook laments. “They think I’m one kiss away from stealing his soul or something. I want to prove to them that I’m serious about Namjoon and that I’m not just looking for a hookup.”

“So court him,” Yunjin suggests. “That’ll make them see that you’re serious.”

“Hey, that’s not a bad idea,” Chaewon smiles at Yunjin. “They do think you’re a knot-head alpha, Jungkook-ah, so this could be the perfect opportunity for you to prove them wrong.”

“Court him?” Jungkook repeats as he finishes getting ready.

“Yeah, why not, Namjoon looks at you as if you personally hang the stars in the sky for him so it’s not like he’d be opposed,” Yunjin says, shrugging. “Go get your boy, Jungkook-ah.”

In all honesty, this isn’t a bad plan and it might just work in Jungkook’s favor. Courting is something only serious couples participate in so this could work. Jungkook is serious about Namjoon but it isn’t like he’s planning to mate him next year or anything crazy like that given that Namjoon is still in his first year of university but Jungkook would like to date him in hopes of mating him in the future.

His plan to officially court Namjoon is solidified later during the tournament when Jungkook looks over right before his match and sees Namjoon waving at him in the crowd. Jungkook swears his heart skips a beat at the sight of him. He somehow manages to win all his matches at a record speed that day, all thanks to one good luck charm in the form of Kim Namjoon.

Jungkook plans his proposal to court Namjoon as best as he can. To say he’s nervous is an understatement.

They’re at the park eating lunch in front of the river, sitting on a blanket. The weather isn’t too bad, not too cold and not too warm, it’s perfect.

Namjoon seems to be having a good time as well, telling Jungkook about his midterms he recently took and how excited he was to watch Jungkook’s matches the other day.

“You were amazing, hyung,” Namjoon confesses, eyes bright. “You won that first match so easily, it was impressive.”

“Well, I had to make sure I won considering you were in the audience,” Jungkook teases, making Namjoon laugh and cover his face. “I’m glad you had a good time, next time, it’ll be me watching you play volleyball.”

“You were serious about that?” Namjoon asks, falling back onto the blanket.

“What?” Jungkook laughs, playfully pocking at Namjoon’s side. “Of course, I was.”

“I don’t know if I’ll be able to concentrate if you’re there watching, let alone win,” Namjoon confesses.

“I’m sure you’ll do awesome,” Jungkook reassures him. “Besides, it’s okay if you don’t win, all I want is the opportunity to watch you play, even if its just this once.”

It’s a bit later when the food is gone and the sun is beginning to set that Jungkook decides to go for it. His hands are sweating and his heart is beating at a million beats per second. He might die from the nerves alone.

“Namjoon-ah,” Jungkook says.

“What is it, hyung?” Namjoon hums from where he’d been leaning back on his hands, looking over the water.

“I wanted to ask you something,” Jungkook admits. “Listen, I really like you and I would really like to court you if that’s something you’d like as well.”

Namjoon’s eyes almost bug out as the words leave Jungkook’s mouth. He stares at Jungkook in disbelief and Jungkook thinks he made a mistake for a moment before Namjoon is crawling over towards him and practically climbing onto him to kiss him.

Jungkook laughs softly as he places his hands on Namjoon’s waist to steady him. “I’ll take that as a yes?” He says as he presses a kiss to Namjoon’s pouty lips.

“Yes, yes, yes,” Namjoon smiles against Jungkook’s lips. “A million times yes.”

“You’re cute,” Jungkook admits, pulling Namjoon into his lap. “Thank you for letting me court you, I’ll show you I can be a good alpha.”

“I trust you,” Namjoon reassures him, wrapping his arms tight around Jungkook’s neck.

“Good, that’s all I need,” Jungkook smiles before kissing Namjoon again.

Jungkook almost misses the two figures standing a few feet back, trying to blend into the crowd of people hanging out at the park but failing miserably. Seokjin frowns where he stands and Hoseok doesn’t look any more amused. Jungkook swears right then and there that he will court Namjoon off his feet and he will win Namjoon’s hyungs over.

He is a man falling in love and on a mission, one that he is determined to complete.

The five ways to win Kim Namjoon’s heart (+ his hyungs’ approval).

By Jeon Jungkook

  1. show up to his volleyball games and cheer him on.
  2. provide for him (buy him his favorite foods and drinks.)
  3. carry his things around (books, laptop, whatever.)
  4. make sure he is eating well and sleeping enough.
  5. take him out on dates to his favorite places.

To say that Namjoon’s hyungs aren’t excited about this is an understatement but Jungkook is determined to come out on top. They all warn Jungkook that if he breaks Namjoon’s heart, they will make sure to hurt Jungkook a million times over, which fair, Jungkook would probably burn the world for Namjoon in some alternate universe if it meant keeping the omega safe.

Things start off easy. Step one of his plan is to show up to as many of Namjoon’s games as possible which proves to be easier than Jungkook thought since they end up being on days he doesn’t have tournaments.

He makes sure he cheers for Namjoon the loudest and makes sure Namjoon is aware of his presence. Namjoon gets flustered at first but soon after, he gets his head in the game and focuses back on winning.

To say Namjoon is a natural athlete would be an understatement. He’s good, really good and dominates the court. His spikes are incredible, as well as his serves. He might be the youngest but he flows well with the team and it’s easy to tell that Seokjin values him a lot. All of the team loves Namjoon and they’re constantly making sure he’s alright, given that the majority of them are third and fourth years.

“Did you see me?” Namjoon asks Jungkook after the game ends. Namjoon’s team won easily.

“You were awesome,” Jungkook praises him.

Namjoon smiles as he wipes the sweat off his forehead. “I can’t believe you made it today,” he admits. “I’m happy you came.”

“Hey,” Jungkook says. “I told you I would come, didn’t I?”

“You did,” Namjoon smiles, looking and smelling every bit happy as he looks. “It means a lot to me, hyung, thank you.”

This time, instead of glaring Jungkook down, Namjoon’s teammates look surprised as they stare at Jungkook.

Baby steps, Jungkook reminds himself as he keeps showering Namjoon in praise. He has to remember to take things slow, for the sake of Namjoon and Namjoon’s hyungs and his own sanity.

The second step of Jungkook’s plan starts off immediately and alongside the first step. He keeps attending Namjoon’s games but all the while, starts making sure Namjoon is eating well which consists of buying him food and making him food. A good alpha provides and Jungkook plans to do exactly that.

“You made this?” Namjoon asks Jungkook a few days later as Jungkook hands him a container of food.

“I did, I know it’s your favorite and I figured you could eat it later,” Jungkook admits. “So you don’t have to worry about dinner after practice.”

Namjoon smiles as he looks down at the container. “Thank you, hyung, I bet it’ll be delicious, considering that everything you make is delicious.”

“Just make sure you get some rest tonight after practice, I know your classes are busy right now,” Jungkook reminds him. “Rest is important.”

Namjoon practically pouts. “You’re starting to sound like Seokjin-hyung.”

“Well, I care about you,” Jungkook smiles. “I want you to be the healthiest version of yourself you can be, I know university can be stressful.”

“You make it easier, though,” Namjoon confesses, blushing a little.

Jungkook’s heart practically melts at the words. “Just let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like and I’ll make it for you, okay?” He offers. “Nothing is off limits or out of my culinary skills.”

“Oh, really?” Namjoon teases.

“Well, my dam and sire are one phone call away just in case,” Jungkook laughs. “But whatever you want, I’ll cook it for you, I swear.”

From that moment, he makes sure Namjoon is eating more consistently, even going as far as buying him snacks whenever possible.

“What about you?” Namjoon asks him one day when they’re out at the park again. “When do I get to court you?”

“Me?” Jungkook smiles as he leans closer. “You want to court me, baby?” He asks, nuzzling at Namjoon’s jaw.

“Yes,” Namjoon playfully growls, threading a hand through Jungkook’s hair to pull him in closer. “It’s only fair since you’re spoiling me.”

“Hm, okay, what about this,” Jungkook says as he presses a kiss to Namjoon’s jaw. “I get to court you first then it’ll be your turn, how does that sound?”

“You promise, alpha?” Namjoon asks him, absolutely melting when Jungkook puts his arm around him.

“I swear it,” Jungkook promises, smiling when Namjoon squirms in his grip.

“Kiss me, then,” Namjoon mumbles, leaning back and smiling when Jungkook obligates.

This time, there are no sneaky bystanders watching them. Jungkook takes the small win with stride.

The third step is to make sure Jungkook carries all of Namjoon’s things whenever possible. Sure, Namjoon can carry his own things, that’s true but Jungkook wants to because he wants to make Namjoon’s days as easy as possible.

So, whenever the chance arises, Jungkook carries Namjoon’s backpack, his duffle bag, his food, his laptop, literally anything.

“You’re spoiling me,” Namjoon says as he watches Jungkook carry everything.

“Well, I want to spoil you, baby,” Jungkook admits.

He thinks this part is just as instinctual as the other steps in his plan since in the past, when people lived in packs, people always made sure their mates lived easier lives. It was probably easier back then when everyone in a pack helped each other and taxes weren’t a thing but alas, the instinct still remains.

“Fine, if you insist,” Namjoon mumbles. “Seokjin-hyung said you’re going to make me lazy.”

“Well, that’s fine,” Jungkook laughs. “I’ll carry your things forever if you’d let me.”

And it’s the truth. Jungkook goes as far as making sure he carries Namjoon and Seokjin’s groceries back to their apartment, much to Seokjin’s approval. It’s a step in the right direction, clearly, and Jungkook can’t help but be over the moon.

“Not bad, baby alpha, not bad,” Seokjin says to him one day and even invites him to stay for lunch, much to Namjoon’s delight.

A few days later and Namjoon forgets his backpack in the library. He messages Jungkook frantically about it since he won’t be able to go look for it since he’ll be at a volleyball game so Jungkook makes sure he gets approval from his coach to leave practice early to go and get it. He even makes sure to bring it over to Seokjin and Namjoon’s apartment later that night, much to Namjoon’s relief.

“Thank you, hyung, I was so worried,” Namjoon admits.

“Hey, I told you I would go and get it,” Jungkook says. “I told you not to stress and focus on your game. I don’t like it when you get stressed over little things that are fixable.”

“Still, thank you,” Namjoon says as he lets Jungkook pull him into a hug. “It’s been a long day and you made it so much better.”

Jungkook smiles as he wraps his arms around Namjoon. “By bringing your backpack?”

Namjoon shakes his head as he buries his face in Jungkook’s neck, close to his scent gland. “No, just by you being here right now, the backpack was an added bonus.”

Jungkook’s mouth goes dry and he feels overwhelmed by emotion at Namjoon’s confession. “I’m glad I could help,” he whispers, running a hand up and down Namjoon’s back. “I’m sorry today was stressful but it’s over now, tomorrow is a new day.”

Namjoon nods against him, leaning most of his weight on him. “I know,” he mumbles before looking up at Jungkook. “Stay for dinner?”

“He can stay for dinner,” Seokjin calls from the kitchen. “But keep it PG in here,” he teases.

“Looks like I can stay for dinner,” Jungkook smiles as he pulls Namjoon into the kitchen, fully prepared to help Seokjin prepare dinner. “Come on, you need a good meal and some sleep, baby.”

The fourth step in Jungkook’s plan overlaps a little with the second step, he’s aware but he swears, it’s different. Step two is providing but step four adds an element of taking care of Namjoon as well.

He knows first hand how difficult it is being a university student and athlete can be so he wants to make sure Namjoon is taking care of himself. Namjoon is smart, too smart for his own good sometimes, but also tends to forget things. It’ll be the little things like remembering to take a break from studying to eat, making sure he’s getting enough rest, or knowing when to call it a day when he’s practicing volleyball. These are all things Jungkook himself has struggled with before so he knows firsthand how important it is to break these cycles.

It starts small like when he and Namjoon are hanging out at either Jungkook’s apartment or the omega’s own when Namjoon will start dozing off. They’re sitting on the couch today at Jungkook’s place while they watch a show when it happens.

“Take a nap,” Jungkook offers as he puts his arm around Namjoon and brings him closer. “You need some rest.”

“But we’re hanging out,” Namjoon protests. “I’ve missed you.”

Jungkook hums but starts playing with Namjoon’s hair, something that always makes Namjoon sleepy. “We can hang out after you wake up, it’s okay, I’ll be right here.”

Namjoon huffs but leans fully against Jungkook and his eyes start to flutter. “Promise?” He asks.

“I promise, get some rest, okay?” Jungkook whispers as he leans further back against the couch and gets comfortable with Namjoon tucked into his side. He manages to grab a blanket and drapes it over Namjoon, creating a safe little cocoon around them both, making Namjoon’s omega relax and sleep.

Sometimes, taking care of Namjoon means giving him shoulder massages or going to the gym with him to keep him company while he gets some extra practice in. It means they get to spend more time together and Jungkook will never pass that up. It’s the little things sometimes.

Other times it means providing Namjoon any comfort and affection he wants. Sure, they’re not dating yet but they’re courting which is pretty official in society’s eyes so Jungkook will gladly let Namjoon drag him into his room and into his nest where he’ll ask for kisses and Jungkook will surely deliver.

“Pretty baby,” Jungkook will mumble against Namjoon’s lips. Namjoon always gets flushed and his scent sweetens so nicely when they kiss. It’s always such a treat to see him like this and Jungkook makes sure to take his time and appreciate it each and every time. “I missed you today.”

“You missed me?” Namjoon smiles as he straddles Jungkook’s waist as the alpha lays back on the nest. “Only me?”

“Only you,” Jungkook swears as he puts his hands on Namjoon’s waist to keep him steady and safe. “Always you.”

“Good,” Namjoon smiles before leaning down to kiss Jungkook again, practically whining into his mouth when Jungkook teasingly growls at him.

The final step is taking Namjoon out on dates to his favorite places and doing anything and everything he wants to do. Sure, a few people tease Jungkook that he’s creating a spoiled monster but he doesn’t care. As his sire has always said, a spoiled mate is a happy mate, and his advice has never steered Jungkook wrong.

In the last two months, Jungkook takes Namjoon anywhere Namjoon’s heart desires and Jungkook’s wallet can afford them. He takes Namjoon to see different art exhibits, hiking, to the beach, to the movies, to cafes, and on library dates because Namjoon loves books.

Each one of them is always worth it because Jungkook gets to watch the pretty dimpled smile spread across Namjoon’s face. Seeing Namjoon happy makes Jungkook happy.

“You know, when it’s my turn to court you, I’m going to go even harder than you,” Namjoon warns Jungkook as they walk home from yet another date.

“Oh, are you, now?” Jungkook asks as he puts his arm around Namjoon.

“I will so you better watch out,” Namjoon promises, playfully growling at Jungkook.

“I’ll hold you to it,” Jungkook smiles. “But for now, let me keep courting you, okay?”

“Okay,” Namjoon smiles back. “Court me all you want, alpha.”

“Trust me, baby, that’s the plan,” Jungkook admits. “I think it’s going smoother now that your hyungs aren’t so overprotective of you.”

“They like you,” Namjoon promises. “Things were rough in the beginning but they’ve come around.”

“They thought I was a sleazy knot-head in the beginning,” Jungkook snorts. “No wonder they were hesitant.”

Namjoon purses his lips. “Well that and… they knew I liked you since forever ago.”

Now, that gets Jungkook’s attention. “What?” He asks, feeling amused. “You liked me even before you almost knocked me out with a volleyball?”

Namjoon whines. “Maybe, I don’t know.”

“Is that why your hyungs were scared I was going to break your heart?” Jungkook asks.

“Yes,” Namjoon admits, trying to hide the flush on his face with his free hand. “They knew I liked you ever since I went to that taekwondo tournament with my friend,” he confesses. “Then I…accidentally hit you with the volleyball cause you were so close in the gym and I couldn’t concentrate that day. I almost died of the embarrassment.”

Jungkook can’t help the smile on his face. “Namjoon-ah, you’re so cute, seriously, too cute.”

Stop,” Namjoon whines again. “You’re teasing me.”

“I never took you for a mastermind,” Jungkook smiles.

Namjoon huffs this time before grinning. “Well, I liked you and I knew my hyungs were never going to let me approach you on my own.” He looks devious and Jungkook thinks he might be in love. “I just wanted to get your attention even if it didn’t lead to anything. I just wanted you to look at me.”

“Hey,” Jungkook says as he pulls Namjoon in closer. “Even if you hadn’t almost knocked the daylights out of me, I would’ve noticed you eventually.”

Namjoon sighs. “Would you?”

“A pretty omega like yourself?” Jungkook smiles. “Of course, I would’ve.” He presses a kiss to Namjoon’s cheek, making Namjoon purr practically. “But now, I fear you’re stuck with me.”

“A cruel fate,” Namjoon plays along. “But I think I’ll take it,” he admits. “Kiss me?”

“Whatever you want, baby,” Jungkook swears as he pulls Namjoon into a kiss.

“Does this mean you’re mine?” Namjoon asks him. “And I’m yours?”

“I’d like that,” Jungkook confesses. “I wouldn’t be courting you and risking your hyungs skinning me alive if that wasn’t the case, trust me.”

Dating Namjoon is the best, hands down the best experience of Jungkook’s life. Over the past three months they’ve been dating, it’s gotten easier being around Namjoon these days since his hyungs are no longer trying to kill Jungkook with sight alone. If only they knew about how their little omega dongsaeng was quite the mastermind who orchestrated the plan to win his alpha crush at any cost. But even with that being said, Jungkook understands their overprotectiveness even more now that Namjoon is his boyfriend, it’s hard not to worry about the omega constantly, even if he can look after himself.

All of Namjoon’s hyungs are fourth years and they’ll be graduating after this semester and they’ve all been worried about leaving Namjoon alone in his second year. Namjoon is kind and sometimes, he lets others take advantage of that. Well, lucky for Namjoon’s hyungs, now Jungkook will be there as a pillar of support for Namjoon to lean on during his second year and even after that because Jungkook has no plans of fumbling their relationship anytime soon. He likes Namjoon far too much to let things go down the drain, that’s his boyfriend, his lover, his baby

They’re in Namjoon’s room today, lazing around since it’s been a busy couple of weeks for both of them. They’re practically glued at the hip whenever time allows it since they’re busy with school and their sports, so today, they’re taking full advantage to soak in each other’s presence.

Jungkook smiles at the sight of Namjoon laying down beside him in the omega’s nest, sleepy with fluffy hair. “You’re cute,” Jungkook tells him, pinching Namjoon’s cheek.

Namjoon rolls his eyes and tries to playfully bite Jungkook’s fingers. “My parents want to meet you,” he admits, looking shy at the confession. “I hope it’s not too soon, I know we’ve only been dating for a few months but they’d really like to meet you the next time they come to see me.”

“I’ll meet them,” Jungkook says, smiling at the thought of their relationship progressing to the point of meeting each other’s families. Jungkook has already introduced Namjoon to his friends and teammates. Sure, they all teased Jungkook to hell and back about being down bad for Namjoon but he’s endured it all proudly. “It can’t be worse than letting your hyungs know we were dating right?”

Now that had been an experience. Namjoon’s hyungs had been alright with Jungkook courting Namjoon because they were positive Jungkook wouldn’t see it through. They were still under the impression that Jungkook wasn’t serious about actually courting Namjoon but Jungkook had proved them wrong. So Jungkook knew that when he officially asked Namjoon out, it would be time to face them, more like Namjoon’s hyungs.

“Just so you know,” Jimin had said as he stared at Jungkook from across the restaurant table where they were getting dinner at. Jungkook had invited them all out in hopes of gaining their approval and softening the news of his and Namjoon’s new found relationship. “I’ve seen a lot of True Crime documentaries,” he stated.

Taehyung had nodded from where he sat beside Jimin. “We know how to hide a body,” he’d chimed in. “So, you better take good care of Namjoon-ie or else.”

”Hyung,” Namjoon had whined before turning to Jungkook. “They’re just being silly.”

Jungkook didn’t think they were being silly but he understood where they were coming from as well, they all just really cared about Namjoon so he couldn’t really hold it against them.

“One slip up, baby alpha, and I’m sending you packing,” Seokjin had warned him. “I mean it.”

“I’ll take good care of Namjoon-ie, you won’t have to worry,” Jungkook had promised him, trying to avoid Yoongi and Hoseok who were staring him down from across the table.

So here they are now, three months later and Namjoon and Jungkook’s relationship has been going great so far. Truthfully, it’s been six months but the first three were spent courting Namjoon.

“My parents are excited to meet you,” Namjoon admits. “I’ve told my dam a lot about you.” His face heats up at the confession. “Back when I liked you before we knew each other and now that you’re my boyfriend.”

”That’s cute, you’re cute,” Jungkook teases, pulling Namjoon in closer. “But this means you’ll have to meet my parents as well, you know.”

”They want to meet me?” Namjoon smiles before burying his face in Jungkook’s neck. “Really?”

“They do, they want to see the pretty little omega who managed to sweep me off my feet,” Jungkook admits. “The one who according to them and my older brother, I won’t stop talking about.”

“I’d like to meet them,” Namjoon says, pressing a kiss to Jungkook’s neck. “Actually… there’s something else I wanted to ask you about, hyung.”

“Hm?” Jungkook mumbles as he closes his eyes and enjoys the feeling of Namjoon in his arms. “What is it, baby?”

Namjoon mumbles something into Jungkook’s neck that the alpha can’t make out. Namjoon’s scent sours with nerves.

“What was that?” Jungkook asks as he puts his hand on Namjoon’s nape and gives him a soft squeeze to help calm him down. “You know you can ask me for anything.”

And Jungkook means it, he’d gladly give Namjoon anything his heart desired. He just wants to make Namjoon happy.

“Would you,” Namjoon mumbles. “Spend my heat with me?” He whispers, sounding nervous and shy.

Jungkook’s eyes shoot open at the question. “What?” He sits up a little and looks down at a reluctant Namjoon who covers his face with his hands in an attempt to hide. “You want me—us to—your heat together?” Jungkook tries to form words. “Are you sure?”

Namjoon nods, keeping his face covered. “I want to, I really want to,” he confesses. “Is that something you’d want as well?”

”I want whatever you want,” Jungkook reassures him, feeling saliva pool in his mouth at the thought of Namjoon in heat, pretty thighs out on display, body flushed, and leaki—

They’ve had sex plenty of times before and it’s been nice, really fucking nice. Jungkook can hardly imagine it getting even better. Just the thought of getting to knot Namjoon and—

No, he can’t be thinking about those things right now. He shakes the images away before his scent gives his thoughts away and someone out in the living room notices.

Namjoon doesn’t seem opposed. His scent gets heavy with arousal and Jungkook knows he’s awakened the demon, not that he minds too much, he’s the one who gets to satisfy it in the end.

“Hey,” Jungkook whispers, gently pulling Namjoon’s hands away from his face. He kisses them both. “I want whatever you want, baby, and if that’s what you want, I want that too.” He smiles. “It means a lot that you would trust me to take care of you during your heat.”

Namjoon’s pretty lips form a smile. “I trust you, alpha,” he whispers, practically squealing when Jungkook swoops in to kiss him. “Maybe later this year, we can spend your rut together if everything goes well during my heat?”

Jungkook smiles back and kisses Namjoon’s pouty lips again. He very much likes the idea of them spending his rut together. The kiss starts off sweet but it quickly turns heated when Namjoon’s arms wrap around Jungkook’s shoulders and pull the alpha on top of him. Namjoon doesn’t hesitate to wrap his legs around Jungkook’s waist to keep him close and right where he wants him. Jungkook isn’t much better. He slides his hands up Namjoon’s shirt, Jungkook’s shirt the omega stole from the last time he stayed at the alpha’s apartment, to feel his soft skin. Namjoon groans into the kiss, biting at Jungkook’s lips, and letting Jungkook lick into his mouth.

“You two better be keeping it PG in there!” A voice from the living room calls out, making Jungkook and Namjoon quickly pull apart, lips still connected by a string of saliva.

They both look at each other, cheeks flushed, scents heavy with arousal, and eyes dialed, before bursting into giggles. It’s hard sometimes finding time to be intimate but it also creates a fun challenge and makes the sex a million times more satisfying when it does happen.

“We’re being good, hyung, I promise!” Namjoon yells back before baring his throat to Jungkook like the spoiled brat that he is. Jungkook hasn’t forgotten the last time Namjoon did this and they ended up fucking in the taekwondo locker rooms after everyone had left.

Jungkook groans and buries his face in Namjoon’s neck, taking greedy inhales of the omega’s scent. It’s addicting considering that it now carries a hint of Jungkook’s own scent in it from how often Jungkook scents him and loves on him. “You’re killing me, baby, you want them to kill me,” he mumbles, licking and kissing at Namjoon’s skin near his scentgland. “You’re a little mastermind, you know that.”

”Yours, though,” Namjoon points out as he tangles a hand in Jungkook’s hair to pull him back in.

“Mine,” Jungkook promises, letting Namjoon bring him in for another kiss. “All mine.”
