Summary:

Bucky Barnes completely disappears after the killing of the King of Wakanda. Steve and Sam track him down in Bucharest, Romania but when they travel to the country, they do not find him.

Or Bucky Barnes gets captured by Tony Stark.

Work Text:

"Please let me go," his voice was small, desperate, almost inaudible.

After the murder of Wakanda's King T'Chaka in Vienna, James Barnes aka the Winter Soldier, completely disappeared from the radar. Steve and Sam were sure they had tracked him down in Bucharest, but when they arrived to the Romanian capital, the apartment where Bucky appeared to have been hiding turned out to be empty.
They had no news of Bucky since then, and almost a year had passed.

"No, I won't."

Bucky did not know how he had found himself in that situation. He had simply gone to buy some fruit at the Bucharest market and woke up in that nightmare. Yet another one.

Tony Stark, the Iron Man, was his captor and had been keeping him segregated in a secured level of his tower for almost a year.

The first few days had been terrible. He was alone, confused and hungry. He did not know who was holding him captive, and nothing seemed to break the glass prison he was in.

Stark had taken possession of his metal arm, and his super-strength seemed to be nothing. Nothing against those walls. Nothing against Stark. Nothing against his perpetual hunger. Nothing against the light on all the time.

When Stark visited him for the first time several days later, Bucky was on the floor, exhausted, and the only question he could ask was "why?" even though he already knew the answer.

"You killed my parents," Stark replied, and Bucky was not surprised.

Of no use were the prayers, the swears that the one who did it was not him, that he was forced, that he did not want to, that he was brainwashed.

Stark did not listen to him when he shouted Steve's name during the tortures.
When he begged him to stop.
To let him go.
When he cried at night in the solitude of his cell.
Tony didn't care.

The Winter Soldier had killed his parents, and James Barnes would pay the price.
