Chapter Text

Jack couldn’t remember how long they had been in the mist.

All he wishes now is to be out of it and go back to his regular life, with Elijah and all his friends. (He couldn’t imagine he would miss his life delivering pizza’s.)

Right now, he was working on a generator, Elijah and a few others that he was familiar with were also in the round.

“Jack!” A voice that made him feel warm inside each time he heard it, but he could never admit it to Elijah directly.

“Hey, come help me with this generator.” He said, continuing to connect the wires to the correct spots, how did they even screw up the generator this badly?

Elijah didn’t say another word and came over to help him with the generator. They were in Haverhill's Hospital, which looked disgusting now, he wondered sometimes if the places they were in looked better before it was consumed by the mist.

The generator was halfway done and neither of them spoke.

“Hey Jack?” Nevermind.

“Yeah?” He responded rather quickly, maybe too quickly.

Elijah paused, “Do you ever think about the times before the mist?”

‘I do, and I miss when we could hangout without any worry.’

“I do.” He settles on saying, pushing the thought away.

He felt as if a rush of energy had gone through his body as a generator had been completed, and a voice came through his radio.

“The killer is in a chase with me!” Yara, she was getting chased, he internally thanked it was her and not anyone else, because she could outrun the killer and potentially buy time for them.

The generator lit up as they finished it.

“I know where another generator is, follow me.” Elijah said, holding Jack's hand and going to another room. Admittedly, when they reached the room, he didn’t want to let go.

He went and started fixing the generator, apparently, the killer was still focused on Yara.

He can still feel Elijah’s hand intertwined with his, and it’s embarrassing to think about how he didn’t want to let go of the other man’s hand.

“Hey, Jack, are you okay? You seem distracted.”

“Yeah, I—I’m fine.” He trips over his words accidentally, he can only hope that Elijah doesn’t mention it.

Elijah, stupid Elijah and his stupid voice that sounds sweet like honey and makes him feel warm inside, stupid Elijah and how he cares for Jack, stupid Elijah, and how nice his touch feels.

Fuck.

He was in-love with Elijah, and the thought came back when they were stuck in a place that had no escape.
He remembers the times at night where he’d lay in his bed and his stupid brain decided he wanted to think about Elijah.

That was ages ago, when he first found out he liked Elijah—in that way.

He pushed it away and ignored it for as-long as he could, and now it comes back in the worst setting possible.

“Jack—earth to Jack?” He doesn’t even realize Elijah’s talking to him till now.

“Hm? Yeah?” He prays that the Camp Counselor doesn’t comment on how he was distracted—again.

The generator is almost done. “You seem really distracted, are you actually okay?” He was naive to think that Elijah wouldn’t comment on it, he always cared about Jack. (The thought is nice.)

“Yeah, I’m just thinking.” He says, turning his focus back on the generator.

“About what?”

“Nothing.” He says, maybe rather too quickly because Elijah shoots him a look of suspicion.

The generator lights up as the exits are now powered.

As they got up to go to the exit, Jack decided to say something, maybe something that would change their friendship forever.

“Elijah?” He called out.

“Yeah?” Elijah was holding his hand and they were walking to the staircase.

“I—“ He paused, “I love you.”

Elijah stared at him with a stunned face, he said the wrong thing, now Elijah was gonna leave him and it would be awkward between them and—

Elijah had kissed him.

His hands wrapped around Jack’s waist as their lips intertwined together.

Jack felt as if he was high and this was just some kind of dream and he would wake up at any moment now.

Elijah pulled away and Jack looked away to gather himself, this couldn’t be real.

“I love you too, Jack.” Elijah said, chuckling at the sight of his boyfriend.

“Shut up, let’s just leave.” He said, starting to speed-walk to the exit in embarrassment, Elijah trailing behind him.

They were lucky this round, that the killer was horrible and out of it, maybe next time they won’t be so lucky, but they’ve got each-other.

And really, that's all that matters.

Notes:

Ignore how the killer didn’t get anyone and the gens were done real quick, it’s fanfiction logic.

Thanks 4 reading ily all

Chapter 3: I wish for you to stay with me. [Kelvin/Arlo]

Notes:

Romance again! This is much shorter than the last one, sorry for that.

Writers block has been acting up and I don’t know how Kelvin or Arlo act so this could be very OOC!

I don’t know how to write romance still.. Sorry..

Hope you enjoy !! ;D [ Made for SQUIDSoDA ]

Chapter Text

Arlo was sent off in a match today.

It wasn’t often that he got to be in matches, he was more often back at their so called, ‘lobby’, tending to others wounds and things that the mist had neglected or had been overlooked.

The mist was an asshole, that's for sure.

The survivors' wounds would be as bad as a broken arm, twisted ankle or even worse.

He always felt guilty when someone had died in a round that he was in, he felt that way because he couldn’t save them.

(He remembers being told that he had a saviour complex, he’s starting to think that the person was right about it.)

Looking back at the survivor list, a few he recognized from older rounds were here, like Serena, Aaaqil, Chaoxing, and most importantly.

Kelvin.

Kelvin was in this match with him, that gave him some relief that someone he knew personally was here with him.

Kelvin.. the boy always stayed near him, protecting him or whatnot, he appreciated the gesture, but had to constantly remind Kelvin that he could fend for himself.

He hated being babied, he could protect himself and everything just fine, he didn’t need someone to stay near or watch over him.

Sometimes, he wonders why Kelvin is so attached to him, he’ll have to ask him when he finds him.

He found a generator and started working on it quickly, connecting the wires here and there, fixing up everything.

Suddenly—his heart was beating faster and faster, he ran as his head screamed danger and—

A scream of pain tore itself out of his throat as he was downed, the slasher left as fast as he came. Damnit , he wasn’t focusing and didn’t run fast enough.

He sat against a wall, looking at where the knife had went.

Straight through his abdomen, yikes.

He clutched his radio and uttered what the killer was to his teammates, he could only pray that someone would come quick, he was bleeding out fast.

“Arlo!” A voice that he was so fond of came up.

“I’ve got you, how did it even happen?” Kelvin asked.

“Threw a knife.” He said quickly.

Kelvin looked at him while bandaging his wounds up. “I’m.. sorry I couldn’t prevent this from happening.”

“It’s fine, don’t blame yourself.”

“But—! You constantly blame yourself for others' deaths and always go out of your way to heal them! You always do so much for others, Arlo, so much that you neglect yourself.”

Arlo stared at Kelvin, unsure of what to say.

“You tell me to not blame myself for this, but you blame yourself that it happens to others.” Kelvin paused, “You shouldn’t throw yourself away just to save others, Arlo.”

“Why?” He asked, hoping the answer would be the one he wished for it to be.

“Because..” Kelvin paused and looked Arlo in the eye. “Because I care about you, Arlo.”

“I can’t lose another person that I care about, Sanjana.. I couldn’t protect her, it makes me feel awful whenever I hear her get downed or see her get downed.” Tears were threatening to fall out of Kelvin’s eyes by now.

“I—I didn’t know you felt that way..”

“You remind me of her,” Kelvin said. “I..I love you, Arlo. I’m afraid that you’ll die and leave me here.”

“I love you too Kelvin,” Arlo replied, bandages covering his wounds. “I won’t leave you, ever.”

Kelvin sobbed into Arlo’s shirt, “I just.. I don’t want you to sacrifice yourself for another, you matter just as much as anyone else.”

Arlo hugged Kelvin and planted a kiss onto the other's forehead.

“You're an idiot, Kelvin.” Arlo chuckled. “I won’t leave you, I wouldn’t, trust me.”

“Promise?” Kelvin croaked out in between sobs.

“I promise.” Arlo said, lifting the boys head up and kissing him on the lips.

Chapter Text

Today was Ye-jun Im’s Birthday.

Of course he was excited for all the gifts, money, and food from the fans. But the most important thing was, Daejung.

Daejung had always gone out of his way to get Yejun what he called, ‘A super special gift from yours truly.’ And those were always the best and the thing he looked forward to the most.

One thing that was annoying about being an Idol was the fans, always trying to come near his Daejung. (And also his members trying to take him away from Yejun.

When he woke up today, the smell of cakes, deserts and more filled the room, he noticed that the room door was open, it was probably the staff making cake for his birthday. He would have to film a video for his birthday too, how fun.

He quickly got up from his bed and freshened up and left their shared dorm room, entering the kitchen he saw—

Dae-Jung.

“Dae?” He asked, words falling out of his mouth before he could think clearly.

“Ye-jun!” Daejung said, face covered in what looked like flour.

He looked at his Daejung up and down before deciding to ask :

“What are you doing?”

“I’m making a cake for your birthday, Yejun.”

He stared at the boy in shock, Daejung would go through all this trouble, just to make a cake for his birthday?

Daejung had always gotten him special gifts, flowers, plushies and designer clothes or whatnot, desserts from bakeries or would take him out to hangout. (He liked the last option the most, because it meant he got to spend time with his beloved without the others interrupting.)

“Wait—from scratch? Just for me?”

“Of course,” Daejung replied so sweetly. “Just for you.”

“Thankyou, Daejung.”

“It’s nothing! We’re best friends aren’t we? It’s just what we do, right?”

Yejun stared at Daejung for a moment, before settling on an answer.
“Yeah, just what bestfriends do.” He smiled.

Daejung turned around to look back at the oven, the timer read “2:13” and only ticked down from then. He turned back to Yejun and said, “Do you wanna decorate the cake together? It’s almost done.”

(I would do anything, if it’s with you.)
“Of course, Daejung.”

After some waiting, the timer went off and Daejung took the cake out of the oven and put it on the (messy) counter.

“I bought some icing for this a few days ago, It should be in one of the drawers.” He said, looking through a few drawers before pulling out a few icing bags.

“What do you wanna do, Yejun?” He asked, the cake was a heart-shaped vanilla cake. “I think we should decorate it with blue and yellow.”

The two spent the hours of their day icing the cake with no old experience and decorating it with fruits like cherries, strawberries, edible pearls and flowers. Daejung wrote ‘Happy Birthday to Yejun’ on the cake as Yejun placed the candles onto the cake as the finishing detail.

“I think we did great!” Daejung said, wiping invisible dust (more like flour.) off of his apron.

“You mean you did great? This was mostly you, Dae.” Yejun said, looking at Dae with eyes filled with affection that Daejung wouldn’t ever notice.

Daejung blushed but told him to stop discrediting himself and scolded him for it. (He found it quite cute.)

Yejun grabbed a lighter and lit the candles up as Daejung turned the lights off and started singing him a happy birthday song, it was just the two of them in the kitchen, together. (He wished it was this way more often than not.)

As he blew out the candles, he heard clapping from the other boy and a congratulations.

“Happy birthday, Yejun.”

Chapter 5: It’s for the better, isn’t it?

Notes:

Bit of graphic depiction of murder/violence and stuff.

Don’t read if you’re trigged of descriptions of murder (specially by werewolves.)

Chapter Text

Serena coughed as her eyes slowly regained vision—hell, what had just happened?

Serena remembers going out with her dad and Kyle to go hunting, and they heard a large snarl, a growl, something was clearly hungry and out for blood.

They took cautious steps, each branch that was stepped on made her flinch, it was surreal, as they continued walking, they saw the beast behind the sounds, the cries of anger, of hunger. Her eyes widened as she took in what the monster looked like.

The beast was aware of their presence, lunging for the twin’s father without noticing the two, she yelled for her father and fired the rifle—but it was too late. Her father had been ripped to shreds and nothing, not even the bones remained.

She remembered a mist filling the forest and her mind becoming dizzy, her vision hazy as she fell unconscious.

Kyle—wait, Kyle?

Her vision had fully recovered, she looked around the area, it was a forest but not their forest, this forest had lots of cabins, some wider or longer than others.

She stumbled as she tried to get up, her legs getting used to the action again, ‘How long had she been passed out for?’ She asked herself internally, slightly tripping over her steps when she walked.

She grabbed the fence tightly as she made it to a cabin, it looked occupied with the lights on and everything, so she knocked on the door, once, twice and heard footsteps coming towards the door.

She held onto the fence firmly as the door opened, her legs felt as if they were about to give out again.

“Hello?” The boy asked, hand on the doorknob and looking at her with a questioning stare.

Serena locked eye contact with the boy before asking, “Do you know where we are?”

“Oh, you must be new then.” The boy says, going inside and motioning for her to follow him.

Once she walks inside, (without tripping.) she sees another boy sitting on the floor, the other gives her a suspicious stare as the shorter boy closes the door and goes to sit on the bed, “How do I explain..” the boy on the bed starts.

“This is.. the mist realm.” Ah, that explains it a bit better.

The boy pauses before saying, “I’m.. Eiji, and this is my brother, Jun. You must be new here, I’m sorry for what happened.”

Serena stares at him, wondering whether he knew that to her, there were two meanings that sentence could have.

“It’s fine.” Serena settled on saying, not daring to try and spill any information or anything about her or anyone else in her life.

“Was anyone there with you?” That sentence shot an arrow through her heart, but she stayed calm. “My brother.. was there with me.” The girl replied, tears on the edge of falling, the picture of her father being eaten by the beast—the werewolf. His body being torn apart till there's nothing, not even his bones.

That beast,. She’ll have to find him and get vengeance for her father, no creature can reign free being a murderer without consequences.

“Your brother? That means.. he’s probably somewhere around here too..” Serena let out a sigh of relief, she’s glad that he’s with her, if he wasn’t.. nevermind, that’s not a thought she wants to dwell on.

The boy stares at her for a moment, “We can help you find him.”

“Wait—I didn’t agree to this?” The other starts, earning a glare from Eiji as he gets up and walks towards the door, opens it and makes a hand motion which resembles ‘follow me.’

The trio walk outside the cabin, Eiji closing the door behind them as they walk around the area, the mist realm seems peaceful, although the way the taller is being cautious and watching the area around them, staying close to Eiji, is telling her a different story.

The way the mist realm behaves must be.. quite alarming and dangerous if it can put Jun, a quarterback who looks extremely strong and Eiji who looks pretty capable himself, in so much fear…

As they walk around, she notices that other Cabin’s also have their lights up, she ignores them as they are on the lookout for her brother and not anyone else.

She suddenly stops in the middle of their steps, making the two curiously look in-front of her.

“Kyle!” The brunette cries out, startling the taller boy.

“Serena!?” Kyle yells out in a more questioning tone rather than a surprised tone.

He stares at her for awhile, stuck in a trance. “You’re.. here too? Did you see what happened as well? Was it not just a bad dream?” Kyle spat out as Serena walked towards him, wrapping her arms around him and him returning the hug.

“It wasn’t just a bad dream, it was real, I saw it.”

Right then and there, the taller twin bawled and sobbed into his sister’s jacket, the other two siblings staying silent to let them have their moment.

As the squad gathered back into Eiji’s and Jun’s cabin, the shorter explained what the mist realm was, and what it does.

“The mist realm.. it’s basically a lobby for intermission. We only call it the mist realm because.. well I don’t know, I didn’t focus during the meeting. The actual mist realm is what we call ‘matches.’ These are like games the mist puts us in for experiments or entertainment.. it’s sickening.”

“Matches have been put on hold for awhile, because from what I remember, new members. You two must be the members that the mist chose.”

The explanation helped a bit, she looked over to her twin, whose eyes were still red.

“I understand a bit.. what happens in the matches?”

“There are eight of us chosen for these matches, our goal is to finish the generators and escape, but..” Eiji paused, selecting his words carefully. “But what?” Kyle asked, impatient as ever.

“There's a killer, the killer can—“

“Wait.” Kyle said quickly, stopping Eiji from continuing his infodump. “Did you say.. killer?”

“Yes. The killer can kick generators to stop us, or more known as ‘survivors.’ They can also down or kill us.” Eiji winced at saying the last part as the twins' expressions immediately changed into shock and fear.

“Kill..?”

“Not actually.., we come back to life after the match is done, it’s still a horrible feeling. This is basically like a death game..”

“A death game!? This is fucking sick..” Kyle cried out in frustration. “So we basically die over and over again or escape or whatever?”

“Yea.. sometimes you're lucky and live but I don’t know if it’s considered lucky when you see everyone die around you.”

Kyle suddenly gripped onto Serena’s hand in fear, in fear that he’d see her fall and die. She was his idol after-all, she was strong, brave and just about everything he couldn’t be..

Suddenly, a buzzing sound came from Eiji’s pocket, signaling that matches are back to being hosted and no longer on hold now that three.. new members were here.

“Three? There's another?”

“Could it be a new killer?” Jun suggested.

“It’s.. possible.”

Nothing else were said as the whole squad were transported into a new match, it felt as awful as when she was transported into the mist realm.

She felt like throwing up, putting a hand over her mouth as she grabbed onto whatever else was near— a locker handle.

Serena looked around, this area was also filled with cabins and it was a forest, but again, not the forest she knew, this was different. A radio in her pocket (when did that get there?) buzzed and when she grabbed it and read the message that just concluded of instructions, a voice called out.

ROANOKE WOODS.

That was the place they were in, she went inside a cabin, nothing.

The girl kept walking till she found what she remembered was a ‘generator.’ She had to complete these right?

Serena went up to the generator, the wires and gears were all fucked and messed up, she got to work immediately, connecting wire to wire and placing gears into the correct area’s.

She heard a growl, a roar.

Fuck. This was the beast that had killed her father, the one who had tore his limbs apart—ate his guts and devoured him. This was the same exact one, and it was hungry, it was still out for blood. It’s back, and it wants more.

Eiji waltzed into the same cabin as her as she was stuck in her thoughts, was it going to get her as well? Now that she doesn’t have her rifle..

She saw a blinding red light near their cabin and immediately went into a locker, peeking out to see Eiji still on the generator, unaware of what she saw and why she so frantically hid in the locker.

The beast was here—but the moment it saw Eiji, it paused.

“Eiji?” The monster asked.. Did it know Eiji? “Cole.?” Eiji questioned, backing up now that he saw what the boy he had once loved become.

“Eiji! It’s really you..?” The beast known as ‘Cole.’ cried out, getting closer to Eiji.

“No—! Back off! You.. you’re not the Cole I know!” Eiji yelled in fear, clutching onto his camera tightly, Serena felt as if she was an intruder, a watcher, someone who wasn’t meant to witness this, but she had no other option.

Cole slightly backed away, frowning as he never meant to scare the boy he loved.. but this was how it was now. “Eiji.. please!” The wolf pleaded, “I still.. love you! Don’t ignore that!”

Tears of pain and anger fell from Eiji’s eyes, “I.. you killed..” he choked, not daring to finish his sentence, it was true wasn’t it? Cole had killed people and ate them, Eiji had loved Cole, but not this Cole.

This Cole, was a monster.

“I—.. I’m sorry..! I didn’t mean to, I didn’t want to.. but I was so hungry..”

“Don’t explain yourself.. just leave. You’re not the Cole I know, or the Cole I loved.” Eiji sobbed, tears falling onto the cold hard floor, she felt bad for the two, but it was for the better, she knew it was, Cole was a monster who had killed and eaten people, including her father.

Cole left quickly, Eiji backed up into the wall, tears still flooding his cheeks.

Serena got out of the locker and went over to the boy.

“I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be.” Eiji forced out a laugh. “Cole.. I miss him.”

“I know you do, but it was for the better.”

The two stayed silent as Serena hugged the boy in an attempt to comfort him, it didn’t help much but Eiji appreciated the effort.

Cole.. the boy he loved, the boy who had been there for him.. was gone, the Cole he knew had been replaced with a beast, a monster who had killed and eaten people.

That was never gonna change, and he knew it.

But clinging onto the tiny bits of hope that someday, they could go back to being together, without the mist to interfere with their happy ever after.

It seemed better than this.

Chapter 6: You may not believe me. (but I want you.) [ Yroncia/Eman ]

Notes:

SORRY IF THIS TOOK AWHILE I’VE BEEN HAVING STRUGGLES WITH MOTIVATION AND ECT..

For Zxlie!

Chapter Text

Yronica has no idea why shes doing this.

Spending her cash on yarn, sewing and knitting materials, staying up all night watching tutorials. It’s pathetic how she’s doing this all for one person.

She feels like Aaaqil, chasing someone around like some sort of lost puppy, but rather more subtle. She finds the two rather cute she supposes, but thats not her main problem.

Her main problem is Eman, the girl who has been occupying her mind since forever. She was awfully pretty, maroon lips and forest dark green eyes that she could stare into forever, her inky short black hair. The silver piercings.. Eman was perfect. She was embarrassed to admit it but she had a crush on Eman ever since.. ever since the sleepover.

The stupid sleepover, the way their bodies huddled together in the bed. Eman was so warm and she’d do anything to be in that moment again, the moment where it felt like Eman was holding her, it was amazing.

So now she sits here, rewatching this tutorial on how to crochet a flower bouquet. It was basic but she figures that Eman will like it. The colors she chose are black, purple, and green. Those colors always reminded her of the other girl and it did fit her attire..

She struggles with the yarn as she spends her waking hours crocheting, her fingers are starting to hurt but if it was for her.. then well it wouldn’t hurt to keep going.

It’s nighttime, maybe nearly midnight as she’s onto her second flower. In her mind she forms some sort of confession script, but overall she doesn’t think too hard about it, it couldn’t be that hard. But she had to find somewhere secret to do it, otherwise she’d lose all her reputation and more.

She’s onto the final flower, she’s taken some breaks to go to the bathroom or get a drink. She wonders what Eman was doing, sleeping obviously. But the thought of the girl thinking about her mutually made her feel better so she imagines that the girl truly is doing that. The other two flowers are settled on her desk as the lamp is the only thing that lights up the room. she shouldn't be awake at this time, making some stupid gift..

She completes the flower and puts them on her desk neatly, she then takes a card and writes a letter, neatly and with almost perfect handwriting. Yronica needs the other girl to know that she put effort into this—it’s serious.

As soon as she’s done with the card, she sets it on the center of her desk with all her supplies, turns her lamp off and heads to bed.

—————

The next day at Lakeview High is suffocating, she managed to stuff the flowers in her bag carefully. She tries to secretly take the card out of her bag and slide it into Eman’s locker, she wonders what the girl would say, would she accept? Why is she so nervous now?

All the classes are boring per usual, but when she spots Eman reading the note her heart seems to beat faster, she doesn’t let her facade fall but she can’t lie that she feels more excited for lunch than usual.

When it’s lunch, she excuses herself away from her ‘group’ and heads to the gym, it’s nearly always empty during lunch so she figured it’s the best spot, she stands there awkwardly and nervously.

Then she spots a figure—black haired with a beanie, someone that she recognizes all too well, just the person she was looking for. The girl was holding the card that Yronica put all her effort into.

”Yronica?” The girl questioned, maybe a bit cautiously, had she thought it was a prank? Maybe she was looking too far into it.

”Eman,” Yronica said, voice cracking slightly. “I..” She tripped over her words. “I like you.”

The girl said, holding out the handmade bouquet, it was so cliché, but whatever. The other girl stared at her, dumbfounded almost. “I like you too, Yronica.” The answer made her let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding in, the girl walked closer to her and their lips intertwined, no one to see them, no Callum to interfere. This was what she wanted.

When their lips tore apart, she wanted them to be intertwined together again, it was addicting. She craved the girl’s touch and more.

”I love you.” The girl with raven black hair told her so sweetly, it was like poison.

”I love you too.”
