Chapter 1: Spring bloom.
Chapter Text
The canopy or trees and shade offered by the green leaves flicker by in the sides of their view, your hand linked with theirs as you lead them onward. They trust you, they trust you enough to not be weary of their surroundings, to keep their sharp claws away from your skin. It’s strange, how they don’t want to hurt you- to let you bleed- but after so long, one can.. familiarize themselves with kindness. Even begin to show it back.
They weren’t used to this, to happiness. Pure and undaunted by suspicion or caution, like how they felt around their father and that sun-man.
That is- until they met you. You taught them how to feel, how to properly feel emotions. You chose them, even with all their flaws. You loved him and his brother, and for nearly the first time, they enjoyed another's company that wasn't just them.
The warmth they felt as you sat next to them, leaning your back against their side as they fumbled over what they were supposed to do, how to show they care for you. But you taught them how. You taught them how it feels to hold hands, to hug, how it felt to know their company was appreciated. They didn’t know why, but they didn’t need to know your purpose. They just knew they enjoyed it. They liked being cared for.
Just like now. The forestry and its oaken trees dwindle, the ground beneath their feet no longer made of fallen leaves and acorns, but instead made of lush lime-colored grass, rippling with reflections and the blow of the wind. It’s a momentary pause at the end of the forest, where you stop and adjust your hold on their hand; your fingers between theirs, locked together. Together.
They watch as you turn your head and smile at them, and they can’t help but smile back. They liked seeing you happy.
Looking back ahead, you continue walking to the grassland hills, and they continue to follow. Hand-in-hand, you bring them to a single tree, standing tall and apart from the rest behind them. Branches and fronds shiver with the wind, blotting out the sun but leaving dancing rays of sunlight to flicker through and touch the ground in the circle of shaded Earth below the oak.
You stop under the branches of the oak, as do they. They have the blood of hundreds- possibly thousands on their hands, and yet you look so relaxed next to them. Holding their hand and showing vulnerability. They could easily break you, but they don’t, because there’s something called love.
They look from their held hand up to you, tilting their head.
" Why bring us here? "
You turn to look at them, gesturing to your side. To the oak tree. A smile touches your lips.
They hesitate for a moment. Not out of caution or concern, but out of curiosity.
"A surprise? For us?" They squint at you. It isn’t unusual for you to give them gifts, as it isn’t unusual for them to give you gifts either, but usually these gifts are hand-held, sometimes something they can eat. They’ve taken a liking to chocolates.
However- They turn their faceplate, and instead of edible goodies or what present they’d think you to give them, is instead a circlet of a flower bush- winding around the base and roots of the wood. It.. just isn’t like what they’ve seen before, though.
Crimson red petals, delicately folded in a circular pattern, lined inside in soft velvet. However pretty, thorns litter the leaves and stem, vines like barbwire winding through dark emerald-green and morphing into a softer, less prickly tangle of leaves and vines. Flowers, unlike the bleeding red of the first, are an almost mesmerizing color of purple. Tinted with a sheen of blue, it gives the five-petaled flowers an illuminated look in the shadowed contrast of the bush and shade.
The roses are Red, and the violets blue.
Bloodmoon’s sudden change in personality had not gone unnoticed. Every other day, they would have made their arrival to the secretive base of their father’s known, either with loud boasting- whining, annoying chatter between one another of their prey or their hunger, their boredom or how much fun they had causing the streets of cities to run red- unlike today. They ramble, yes, loud and obnoxious, but at a more controlled volume. They want to speak freely of you, from how their hands move in absent-minded gestures, to their knuckles occasionally brushing over the soft petals of a new red accessory tucked safely in the ragged off-white rim of their jester-like hat. They just didn’t want anyone to overhear.
But the wrong person did.
Solar Flare listens. Eclipse sees a vulnerability. An opportunity.
He knew better than to physically strike them. Not after what they had done before- his own creation. Nearly killing him. Then he never got his deserved revenge. Not yet. Not until now.
Hearing Bloodmoon prattle on about you- how much they ‘cared’ for you. They can’t care for anything. They never could, because they were a tool to be used. That was their purpose. And it made his nerves boil to hear them think they could ‘love’ and be ‘loved’ back. Love. What a repulsive word.
Orange-yellow eyes burn holes into the flowery accessory tucked into the rim of their hat. How funny. They really did love you. They loved you even though you were as fragile as the flower they hold dear. You are mortal. You are human. You will wither.
Eclipse found it Laughable. Applaudable, even. You’ve given him a way of revenge. If he cannot break Bloodmoon physically, then he will just compensate with another way.
There are worse things than death.
Chapter 2: They Love me, They Love me Not.
Summary:
You land harshly, having tripped while backing away. Your elbows are dug into the ground, propping you up as you stare with wide eyes at them. Bloodmoon. This was supposed to be funny. You were laughing. You had been play-fighting with them. Not anymore. You aren't laughing anymore.
They stand over you, their eyes glowing with bloodlust and hunger. They take another step closer, and the immediate fear of becoming prey takes over your instincts, and you lift an arm to block your face. To block an attack. To block death, to block Him.
They freeze, and you continue to cower, your eyes shut closed as you look away, your arm continuing to feebly shield your face. You are afraid.
Their eyes flicker to black for a moment, before the Crimson glowing red of their eyes, less luminous now awaken again. For a moment, they only stand there in shocked silence. ...For once, they don't know what to say. For once, they felt... Worried. Fearful.
They were afraid you were going to leave them. They were afraid you were going to leave them because they lost control. They were going to Hurt you all because of their hunger.
"Violet... We're so Sorry."
Your precious blood and petals will not be shed by any hand.

Chapter Text
You made the mistake of not making sure they had eaten before taking them out to the grassy fields, where not a creature, other than hidden crickets and Crawling beetles, could be found. You didn't think it would affect much. It was supposed to be a short trip anyhow. ...If things didn't go south.
At first, it was Just you and him, both of them, sitting crisscross and admiring the stars. You brought them out during late hours, when most animals were hidden and sleeping. Other than nocturnal ones, which mostly stook to the tree lines and bushes. At first, it was calm and peaceful, your left hand held gently, yet tightly, by Bloodmoon. They were calm. Even if internally, their Mindspace buzzed with back-and-forth conversation. You turn your head, staring at your animatronic companion.
The Full moon gleams in the late dark night, illuminating the faded, dulled scarlet red and dark crimson of his metal frame. He doesn't seem to notice you staring at him, and with that, you grin mischievously. With your other, free hand, you grab a fist-full of soft grass, rip it free from the hearth. At this point, Bloodmoon has noticed you are up to something, and turns his faceplate to look at you with confusion. You only grin wider, the ends of your mouth curling upward as you full-on throw the up-rooted grass at his face in a playful manner.
The grass scatters when it hits his face, falling back to the ground as he jolts back in surprise, a confused, dual-voiced sound of both gravelly and one of higher-tone lets out a noise of shock. With your linked hands, he also takes you with him, and you yelp as you're pulled to your side, your shoulder hitting his metallic torso and sending you tumbling over him. Your hand is now no longer being held by the cool metal of his fingers, broken by the sudden movement.
You land on your back, blinking in bewilderment at what just happened, until a giddy, snickering laughter erupts from the animatronic, joined by a deeper, gravelly laughter in the undertone. You now realize, he did that on purpose. You dramatically gasp, springing up from the grass and tackling him, wrapping your arms around his and tumbling you both around the grass, while also now rolling down the hill. Although you both are laughing, accident is prone to happen while you and him are rolling down. One of his sharp, clawed fingers pricks you, just above your eyebrow.
Scarlet beads at the small wound, and as you roll off Bloodmoon, trying to catch your breath, you don't notice. Bloodmoon however, does. and He notices rather quickly. He goes rigid, still for a moment as you let out an exasperated breath, lifting your head up at Bloodmoon.
"Hah- That was quite the Tumble, Huh?" You chuckle, unaware.
Although your animatronic partner does not respond, you wipe the back of your hand against your head, standing up before noticing the partly dried, smeared red trail. You stop, eyes widening as you look up at Bloodmoon again. Oh, dear.
He's already up by the time you look back at him, his shadowed faceplate only illuminated by the bright, hungry glow of his optics. His smile is sharp, thinned with a longing for bloodshed. He takes a step forward, and you another step back, as you ungraciously trip and fall backward, landing heavy on your elbows and tailbone.
With your elbows are dug into the ground, you are propped up to stare with wide eyes at him, them.
Of Them.
Their eyes flicker to black for a moment, before the Crimson glowing red of their eyes, less luminous now, awaken again.
Not even their own. They are afraid you will leave them if they did so.
You slowly lower your arm, peeling open one of your eyes to stare at Bloodmoon. They stare back, before they take a handful of steps back, still locked with your eyes. They let out a garbled noise, a mix of incomprehensible words with both of their voices, before they clutch their faceplate between their clawed hands, digging metal into metal as they speak in low, hushed voices, speaking to each other while also apologizing profusely, if you unscrambled their words right.
You snap out of your fear-induced trance, quickly moving over to them to try and calm them down.
"Hey- Hey! Look at me, Its okay! You Didn't mean to." You reassure them, taking hold of their wrists to stop them from damaging the metal of their face.
They freeze, dim-glowing eyes zeroed in on you, and your hands around their wrists. You cautiously avoid the ribbons and bells fastened to them, lest you unknowingly undid the fragile off-white, red stained knots.
You smile softly, trying your best to seem unfazed by what happened just a few seconds ago, and instead thinking of how much you care for them, how much you understand. You just hope your thoughts reflect from your eyes. Bloodmoon finally does something, and leans close to you, closing his eyes as he gently rests his face-plate against your forehead. The proximity would've made you blush, but right now, you can only sigh in relief. They've calmed down.
"We're sorry, Violet." The more chaotic of the duo answers first.
"It won't happen again." The calmer adds.
You slowly let go of their wrists and wrap your arms around them in a gentle embrace. They do the same to you, holding you close.
"It's okay, Bloodmoon. ...The loveliest of the Roses has the Sharpest thorns." You inwardly laugh at your small Metaphor, but it's true. Being pricked is only a small sacrifice for something to lovely.
"We should get going anyway, It's probably somewhere around midnight. I have to sleep, and you have to eat, right?" You remind them, pulling away even with a little reluctance from Them. They mechanically sigh in response, tilting their head to one side and nodding. You smile in affirmation, grabbing both if his hands and intertwining your fingers, pulling him up with you to leave the barren, quiet fields.
---------------
You go separate ways when close to your home, incase Bloodmoon were to attack a person of your town, instead. You wave, and Bloodmoon enthusiastically waves back, if not a bit tired and slow with fatigue of not eating. You both stare at one another a moment longer, before you jest a bow, turn, and walk back to your small house.
Bloodmoon snickers, turning on his heel and gleefully stalking back to their father's base. Unbeknownst to them, a Pair of Yellow-orange eyes, burning with a glow of hatred watch from shade and shadow. Everything is going accordingly.
He will hit two birds with one stone.
He will cut two flowers with one slice.

Chapter Text
A few days had passed since they first scared you. You know it was an accident, they apologized for it, and you accepted it. Everything was fine now, Everything was back to normal. You sit in your home, late in the night. You'd already hung out with Bloodmoon that day, going until around 9:30PM, where he was obviously getting hungry, and you, tired.
So the two of you headed your separate ways, he to his base which you knew was not safe, and you, Home. Now you sit in your small apartment, a simple space with a bedroom, kitchen, Livingroom, and single bathroom. Currently you sit, staring at a small red-tinted glass vase that held beautiful, thorny flowers, and a handful of bright blue-purple flowers. A lovely bouquet made by you and your Animatronic companion. Partner, maybe.
You smile to yourself, now thinking of your Rose. Although your Rose has sharp thorns, it is a wonderful price to pay, even if you are pricked when picking him. Your wonderful rose, who could never have thought he would find such a fragile, wonderful violet to call his own.
Who never thought his wonderful violet could wither.
---------------
You've nearly fallen sleep, slumped over on your small wood dining table when a sudden sharp, harsh knocking comes from the front door of your apartment. You have half a mind to think Its Bloodmoon, but usually you only meet him in the woods, were you and him agreed it'd be the best, most reliable spot to not be seen by any by-standers who might just recognize the animatronic.
"Coming, Coming, One moment, Please." You yawn, sloppily sliding off your wood chair and moving to your front door, where you nearly stub your toe from the lack of light.
...Well, Maybe first you should check the peek-hole, Just incase you might let in a robber, or something. Instead, you find an automaton. One which you have not seen before. From your fish-eye view of the peek-hole, you can see a name carved into the dull, dusty yellow of the animatronics torso.
Solar Flare.
...Interesting name. But you suppose its because of his head, which adorned to the circular shape, is long, sharp points that curve to the back of his head, both a dark orange-brown, and a worn orange color. You squint your eyes, your tired brain thinking for a moment before undoing the lock on your door, and cautiously opening it.
"...Hello-?" You mumble, in hopes you don't wake up your neighbors.
The bright orange of the animatronics eyes bore into you, and you shiver slightly, its un-moving mouth forever curled into a menacing, mysterious grin. One that you can't tell if its sick with maliciousness, or with just simplicity and nothing more. ...It almost looks like his mouth is melting, with the metal coming down from the upper lip, connecting to the lower lip. ..Strange design.
He sharply tilts his head to one side, before speaking in a dull, automated voice. Did he have an actual conscience or was he just a robot?
"Bloodmoon wanted me to come and get you. They said it was Urgent." ...It's voice almost seems strained. Rushed..? ...Impatient...?
You frown slightly, your mind dipping into worry. If it was truly urgent, wouldn't they have just come over? Who is this animatronic-esc. robot? You hesitate, looking back at your dim apartment for a small moment before looking back to the stiff automaton.
"Alright, I wouldn't want to keep them waiting for so long if its truly important." You nod. A small voice in your head tells you something isn't right. But if its for your Rose, you will find out what's wrong.
The Animatronic, Solar Flare you are going to presume, turns on its heel and begins to descend the small flight of stairs, and you follow in its footsteps. He's leading you to the forest.
The door to your small apartment closes with a small thud. A petal falls from one of the flowers. The Violet.
---------------
You nearly have to jog to keep up with the long-legged animatronic, too focused on not being left behind to notice your surroundings. When Solar Flare finally stops, you almost crash into him, before glancing around your surroundings. It's not much with the dark lighting of a new crescent moon, lightly illuminating the dark shadows of trees and bush.
You recognize this spot, if not faintly. Its a small clearing near the middle of the woods, the usual meeting place of you and Bloodmoon. Of course Solar Flare would bring you here, if it was urgent. But if it was urgent, where was he? Your brow furrows in worry, and you hug your arms close to your body, staring into the darkness of the shade to try and spot your rose. Which is why you nearly jump when Solar Flare speaks. ...No, This is Someone different. His voice is Different.
"Are you truly this easy to deceive?" He turns on you, his eyes sharper with the intent of something Evil.
You blink, taking a step back.
"..Who Are you?" Is all you can come up with.
It almost seems as though his hollow smile grows wider.
"Eclipse. A pleasure, to finally meet you." He takes a step closer, and your frozen to your spot. He harshly grabs you by the chin, razor-sharp fingertips digging into the soft flesh of your cheeks and jaw. You wince, trying to pull back only for his grip on your jaw to become tighter, the stinging feeling where your skin is punctured and blood that beads makes you realize. He wasn't here to bring you to Bloodmoon. No.
He was here to kill you.
You struggle, lifting your hand up to try and pull away at your wrist, which only leads to him using his other clawed hand to grab your arm, with a force enough to make your bones creak in protest, and you're forced to let go. The bones of your arm feel like their shifting under the pressure, and you let out a noise of pain, before your harshly thrown to the ground, a metallic foot coming to slam down on your stomach. You can feel your breath leave your lungs as your ribs shift and your skin bruises.
You can't say anything, you practically can't breathe. That is until the pain is directed to your ankle. A crushing pain suddenly slams down on it, and you can hear the crackle of something breaking. You let out a short, pained shout, tears pricking the corners of your eyes.
Which only makes Eclipse smile wider.
The crushing weight on your stomach is released, and he steps to your side, where your curl into yourself, wrapping your arms around you. The adrenaline-fused numbness of your broken ankle is starting to fade, leaving you with an increasingly burning pain. Salty tears flow down your cheeks, onto the grass which you lay on. You grit your teeth, refusing any noise of pain to leave the back of your throat, even as Eclipse lets out a slow, scowling, annoying laughter.
A befitting fate for a fragile flower. Tortured and torn for his own delight. For revenge.
Eclipse kicks you hard in the side, forcing you to lay on your back. Grabbing your shirt collar, Eclipse pulls you up, forcing your blurred, tear-filled gaze to meet his glare.
"F... Fuck you." You get out, feebly kicking at his metallic torso with your shoe.
"How sweet of you." He responds, his tone dripping with sarcasm and hate.
There is only a small moment. A small moment where everything slows. And all you can do is stare into his glowing orange eyes as the sharp claws of his hand, of Solar Flare’s, leave a bloody gouge in your abdomen. He purposely didn’t hit anything vital; he wanted to see you bleed out. He wanted to see you writhe in pain.
He wanted to see their face when they saw you dying and withered.
You can only widen your eyes, the sudden wound not reaching your nerves or the process of your brain just yet. You can only feel numb as thick scarlet liquid spills onto the floor. And suddenly, you are dropped, landing on your back, staring up at the night sky, the edges of tree leaves and branches, and Eclipse.
"Enjoy your last minute of winter, Fragile, foolish Violet." He snarls through his voice box, before turning, and walking into the tree line, into the shade and shadow.
...Honestly..? Your too tired to respond. Too tired now, you realize, to move. Other than to slowly place your hand over the leaking wound inflicted upon you. Surely they'll come, Right? ...Everything will go back to normal..? It's just a dream, Right?
You continue to hazily stare up at the glittering starts and dim Crescent Moon.
A few of the stars almost look like a flower.
...Maybe that's just you, though.
---------------
It isn't long before the sound of running footsteps clouds your suddenly foggy mind. Your whole body aches, as your red lifeforce spills onto the green of the grass.
"VIOLET?!" Words. You can hear them. ...They came..
"Violet!" Both of them. You can hear both of them.
Bloodmoon came as fast as he could when he saw that sun man came back with the stench of blood on him. Of your Blood on him. They knew something was wrong and they immediately went into a panic as they crashed through base, running while following the scent of your blood. They slide down onto their knees, quickly wrapping their arms under your back and cradling you in their hold. Their eyes are wide, Panicked. They are Afraid. Worried. Until they stare at your wound. An open gash that bleeds out what they promised would not be spilt.
Using one of their hands, they lightly press their hand atop your own, the one covering your torn skin. The one covering your gouged flesh. They slowly turn their face-plate back to your face, where tears still fall from the corners of you eyes. You look back at them, your vision focusing and un-focusing as your lost blood affects your brain and mind.
They can't find anything to say, neither can you. All words are lost here. No words can explain what either of you are thinking. No words can explain their grief, or yours.
You smile, ever so softly. One of the things they loved so much about you. The way you smiled so kindly at them. The way you smiled at them that no one else could ever replicate or show to them. Even if your so tired, you use the hand that Bloodmoon already holds, bringing his hand with yours as you slowly lift your hand, and gently hold the side of his faceplate, your hand smeared with liquid scarlet. They freeze as you close your eyes and gently touch your lips to the metal of their sharp teeth.
They don't know what to do as the hand that holds their cheek grows weak and limp. They don't know what to do as you slowly fall back into their other arm.
They don't know what to do as your head limply tilts away from them. Your breath and warmth stolen and no longer rising and falling against them.
So they cry.
They cry, as they slowly bring you closer to them, closer to their metallic torso.
They cry as they lean over your cold body and sob.
They cry to whatever god was out there.
"Don't let our Violet wither to Winter."
The Violets of yours in your home no longer shine so brightly. The Violets in your home have long since lost their petals.
