Chapter 1: He’s not dead yet
Chapter Text
~Help us, he's not dead yet...~
The shrilling sound of an old alarm clock filled the room. "Ugh, I felt like I've slept forever!" I yawned while rolling myself out of bed. After some stretching, I tumbled out of my messy room into the kitchen. I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around in shock. "I'm sorry, did I scare you? Why are you up so early, honey?" "Ah, Mom, just a bit. What time is it?" I asked. "It's 4.00 am! You told me, that you don't have school today, didn't you?" my mom asked. "Yeah, that's right. Weird. I feel like I've slept like forever. Might be because of a weird dream I had. Doesn't matter. I don't even remember, what I've dreamed about...". "Was it about Dad again? I know it's hard for...?" "Mom...", I said annoyed while rolling my eyes "You know, I don't like to talk about him." "I'm sorry honey, but I think I know, how I can fix your mood. Do you remember the new restaurant? Let's go there and spend a nice evening. How's that? ", My mom said with a calming voice. "That sounds great. I'm sorry for my mood" "It's okay, it's a hard time for both of us. Let's just enjoy the food later".
>>Mom, wake up, we're late! We must be there by 9.00 pm!" I said surprisedly, leaning over my sleeping mother. "How late is it?" Mom mumbled while rubbing her eyes. "It's almost 8.00 pm. Hurry up, I don't want to be late. I've waited the whole day for this evening. You know it would crush my heart, if we are too late and our table is gone.", I said with an exaggerated sad face. "Okay, okay. Stop crying, just give me a minute. After a while, we were ready and went outside. The streets are empty and dark. The cold wind gave me goosebumps. "I told you we should drive to the restaurant..." "Come on, we both could need some fresh air. And the restaurant isn't that far away. It's right next to the old Megaplex." Mom said. "It burned down, right? It just makes sense, that the city opened a new restaurant next to it. The Freddy's Megaplex was the biggest attraction in our neighborhood." I mentioned. "Speaking of the devil... Wow, it still looks that bad. For some reason, the Megaplex, or what's left of it, is still standing. It looks dangerous. The rusty gates are barely an obstacle preventing you from entering. Why doesn't it get demolished? " "Maybe It's because there are still some valuable recourses. You know how greedy the city is nowadays. And rumors are spreading, that they want to build another building over it. Apparently, it's cheaper to build another building on top, than demolish the old one", Mom said, with an annoyed undertone. We didn't really talk about the whole Freddy topic, because back then, Mom and Dad worked for the old pizza place. But the work made my dad act all weird until one day he didn't return home. A few years later, it burned down. Probably for the better. My mom lost her job and worked as a waiter. 5 years later, she got an invite to the new Megaplex, where she worked as security. That didn't last very long, because it burned down again. She got a big paycheck because she almost died in the fire and could have sued Freddy and nowadays, she doesn't need to work. We walked in silence, both probably buried in memories. Suddenly, "Help us, he's still alive, please!" I heard a child's whisper, next to her ear. I turned around quickly, but no one was there. All the streets are empty. Just the white snow and the suffocating darkness fill my sight. It's so silent. Something's wrong. I can feel a strong presence, pulling on my spine and giving me a feeling of terror. Just what is it? >>Mom!!!<<. I tried to scream, but all that came out of my mouth was a silent squeak. Where is she? It was just a blink and she's gone! I felt my body getting weaker and weaker every second. I tried to cry, but my body had no power. My vision started to blur, and I couldn't breathe. The last thing I saw, before I passed out, was a yellow, thin but indescribable powerful creature, standing in the white snow...

I wake up to the smell of charcoal and mold. The disgusting smell penetrates my nose. Where the fuck am I? I still can't see clearly. After my eyes got used to the darkness, I could see a broken desk, with some party hats, plastic plates, and... wait a second. Am I in the Megaplex? How did I get here? I sat down and calmed myself. While my vision cleared, I see, that my assumption was right. I'm right in Monty Golf. Suddenly all my childhood memories came back. I loved the Monty golf. But my favorite place was the daycare. Probably because I was too young to do something else. Wait, how did these robot guys call themselves? There was Sundrop and Moondrop, the funny figures. They helped the toddlers to sleep and play safely. Uhm... Chica The rockstar chicken. She was funny and good at playing guitar. Freddy, yes. The star of this place. Until he had a system failure, right before the whole place burned down. People are assuming, that it all happened because of him. Roxy hm. I don't like her. She was kind of selfish and mean. And of course, Monty, the cool crocodile. I think that's all of them. I stand up and walked slowly to the exit. Wow, this place looks different. The last time I was here was like 10 years ago. It's all moldy and cold. The smell is unbelievably disgusting. I remembered the situation and was frightened again. How did I get here? Where is my mom? One thing was sure. I need to leave. I stood up and started going to the exit. The further I went, the more it smells like burned and rotted flesh. It's so dark. I need to watch out. I Don't want to step on a rusty nail... suddenly a loud screeching noise makes me flinch. I turn around.... Nothing... all I can see is the engulfing darkness spreading through the gigantic golf course. Two red lights... I noticed two red lights in the dark. The exit? I remember that the exit is in the same spot as the red lights. Maybe an exit sign? I don't care, I need to go home NOW! I hate this disgusting smell. I'm running towards the exit. I noticed that I'm still a little dizzy because the lights started moving around a bit. No... it can't be... they aren't moving around. They are coming right at me! Am I hallucinating? I'm backing up. The red dots grow as they're getting closer. As soon as it stepped into the light, I could see what it was. I'm so shocked, that I cannot move a muscle. My whole body begins to shake. I am staring into the eyes of a 2-Meter-high metal robot. It is rusty and deformed. But other than the other animatronics, he doesn't look like an animal. It's just the inside. All you can see are metal screws and wires, holding onto a weird human-like frame. It looks so old and destroyed, but at the same time so aggressive and massive, that it could rip me apart in an eye blink. But why did it stop? It's standing right in front of me, without moving an inch. It's almost like his batteries are empty. But his eyes are still shining bright red. "Don't look away". I heard a voice behind me. As soon as I turn around, I got hit on the back of my head.

"Wake up, honey!", my mom said. "Wh... what? Where am I?" I asked. "In your room, of course. Where else should you be haha." My mom said jokingly. "Ah okay, sorry, I just had a weird nightmare again", I said to my mom, with a bright smile on my face. Of course, I knew, that it wasn't a dream. My pillow was soaked in blood, from the wound on the back of my head. How couldn't my mother notice the smell of dried blood in my room? Something's wrong. But I didn't know what it was. I need to act normal until I find out, what's going on. "Come downstairs, I've made breakfast. You have no school today, honey!" She said. "I'm coming down soon. I'm just getting ready for the day." "Okay, but hurry up, the eggs are getting cold!" With that, she leaves the room. Her movements are flawless, but also unnatural. I quickly stood up and ran to my dressing table. I grabbed the bandages and disinfected my wound. It hurts so bad and started pulsing. I'm still a bit dizzy, but I think it's getting better."Honey, where are you?" "I'm coming down, Mom!" I shouted, with a shaky voice. I hope she didn't notice. I need to act normal. I took a deep breath and looked at me in the mirror. My long brown hair is all messed up, my green flower dress is dirty and ripped apart, and my left shoe is missing. I took a quick shower and changed my clothes. My head doesn't hurt as much as before. How could my mother not notice, my messed-up look? How could she think that everything is normal? No. She's not okay. Maybe we both slipped, because of the ice, and now she has a strong concussion. Did I pass out and dream of everything about the Megaplex? It doesn't matter, I need to bring my mom to the hospital. She doesn't behave normally. I went down the stairs and looked at my mom, standing in the kitchen. She's holding a knife. I backed up a bit. "Why did you back up? Scared I will stab you? Don't worry, the time hasn't come haha. You took so long; I warmed up the eggs again. They burned a little, but I think they taste not that bad." What time? She's not okay. Her motions are flawless. No sign of a concussion. Weird. I need to call the ambulance. "I just need to do something; you don't need to wait for me," I said. My voice is still shaking. She surely noticed it already. I walked into the living room, took the phone, and called the ambulance. "Hello, I need help. My mom and I felt down yesterday, and now she's acting weird." I whispered into the Phone. A young woman's voice responded calmly, "Everything will be all right. Just give me your address, and we will come over as quickly as we can." I gave her the address and suddenly a hand grabbed my shoulder and turned me around aggressively. "Time to eat breakfast" I pushed her hand away and ran to the bathroom. "Where are you going". I tried to lock the door. Silence... the lights are off. The cold darkness seems to pull me into the emptiness of this room. Suddenly, something is knocking against the door aggressively and with such a force, that it's impossible, that my mother could be it. The white wooden door begins to bend and chip. The knocking gets louder and louder until it suddenly stopped. I heard a dull man's voice, trying to calm my mother. I can't understand a word they are saying. At once, all the voices stopped. There was a short sound of movement and soon after that, there was complete silence. I breathed heavily and waited for a little. After I heard no sound at all, I opened the door slowly. I peeked my head through the small opening, and I tried to see, what was going on. "What? Where is everyone?" I whispered with a shaking voice. Nothing. Not even a little sound. I ran downstairs and checked the whole house. I couldn't find her. At once, I heard a vibration. My handy! I sprinted back up and tried to locate the sound of the vibration. In my jacket. I picked out my phone. It's all dirty, almost empty. 7%. My best friend John called me. I tried to pick up fast, not to miss the call. I cut my finger on the cracked scream. "FUCK" I screamed in anger and pain." Elizabeth, are you okay?" John asked. I explained to him everything. "Whoah, that was a lot. Don't worry. I think she's in the hospital right now. Maybe the ambulance didn't know that you were in the bathroom, and just took her to the hospital. Come over, as long as your mum isn't home."
