Deep in the oceans of Puplantis, is the mystical kingdom, led by King Levi and his son, Prince Rex, destined to be a siren forever because of a mythical curse placed on him when he was a baby, up until his 18th birthday when the curse will be set, unless he gets a true love’s kiss before midnight, or he will be a siren forever.
“ Rex? You awake, dude?’ Rocky whispered, as the mer- pup searched for his best friend. “ Go away’ Rex softly replied. “ Rex, come on. It’s me, Rocky. Your best friend, remember?’ Rocky replied. “ I know. But, Rocky, look at me! The curse is starting to develop on my face’ Rex replied. “ I promise, you’re gonna find someone to break the curse, okay?’ Rocky replied. “ How? You realize my father forbids me from-‘ Rex replied. “ Rex!’ King Levi shouted. “ Yes, Father?’ Rex asked. “ Oh, Rex. The curse is already starting to set in for you, isn’t it?’ King Levi replied. “ If I can just find a pup to give me a k-‘ Rex replied. “ NO! Rex Alexander, you know you are forbidden from entering the surface! You’re a mer- pup, they’re pups!’ King Levi argued. “ But we’re not enemies! Look how mystical it is up there. Father, please just-‘ Rex replied. “ NO! You are forbidden! Do you understand?’ King Levi replied, as Rex whimpered. “ Son, I’m just trying to protect-‘ King Levi replied, “ I wish Mom was here’ Rex whimpered. “ Rex..’ King Levi began, as he swam back into the castle. “ Keep an eye on him, Rocky. I don’t like seeing him like this’ King Levi ordered. “ Yes, Your Majesty’ Rocky firmly replied, as he swam away, as Rex came out once he was out of sight. “ Is he gone? I guess I can stop holding out hope my curse will be broken’ Rex replied.
“ Rex..’ Rocky whispered, heartbroken.
( Adventure Bay, Seal Island)
“ Yo, Chase! The water looks perfect today! You want to go for a swim?’ Marshall asked, as he ran towards his best friend, who was propped up on the sand with an audiobook. “ Marshall, it’s 90 degrees out. Your skin will burn. And did you even pack sunscreen?’ Chase asked. “ Come on, one swim’ Marshall begged. “ Alright’ Chase replied, as he threw on his swim trunks and they headed into the ocean. “ Whoa. Look at all the creatures’ Chase replied. “ See? I told you it’s cool down here. Just watch out for any sirens or mer- pups’ Marshall replied. “ Marshall, they’re not dangerous. Let’s just keep swimming’ Chase replied, as he heard faint splashing. “ Aah!’ Chase and Rex yelled in unison. “ A- Are you a mer- pup?’ Chase stammered, as Rex timidly nodded. “ Cool. I’m Chase, this is my best friend Marsh- Marshall, where are you? He must’ve went back up to the surface’ Chase replied. “ Guess everyone’s afraid of us’ Rex replied, as he wrapped his paws around himself. “ I’m not. I’ve always admired them, ever since one saved my life when I was young. They’re not dangerous’ Chase replied, as Rex smiled. “ It’s nice to see some pups don’t. I’m Rex, by the way. Prince Rex’ Rex replied. “ Nice to meet you, Prince Rex’ Chase replied, as they shook paws and Rex smiled. “ Have you ever been allowed out of the ocean?’ Chase asked, as Rex shook his head. “ My father is prejudiced against non mer- pups, but we don’t have to be enemies’ Rex replied, as he stared into Chase’s eyes. “ Rex, your father’s looking- What are you doing with a pup? You’re cursed, don’t you remember?’ Rocky replied. “ You’re cursed? I gotta get out of here’ Chase replied. “ Chase, no!’ Rex called, as he swam after him. “ Rex, wait! You’re not allowed near the surface!’ Rocky cried. “ You’re cursed?’ Chase replied. “ Please, just hear me out, okay? Yes, I have a curse on me, a siren placed it on me when I was a baby, and it can only be broken by true love’s kiss before midnight, or else I will be a siren forever’ Rex replied. “ That’s horrible. Can’t your best friend break it?’ Chase asked. “ No, he’s a mer- pup. Only a pup can break the spell, which is why I’ve given up hope’ Rex replied. “ Are you allowed to be near the surface?’ Chase asked. “ Only for a couple of hours’ Rex replied, as Chase held his paw out. “ Then come with me’ Chase replied, as Rex stared into his blue eyes and nervously slipped his paw into his. “ Wait, what’s your plan when we get to your world?’ Rex asked. “ A little freedom’ Chase replied, and Rex smiled. Maybe Chase was the one to break the curse, as they rose up to the surface. “ Rex, welcome to Adventure Bay’ Chase happily replied.
