Work Text:
It was still. Miles couldn't hear anything but his piercing scream. His legs felt like led as he ran to his fallen father. He was too late.
"Dad, oh God, dad please!" Miles sobbed, his knees hitting the pavement as he lifted his mask, gathering the man into his arms. His father didn't move nor did he has a pulse. "Dad... dad please, I'm sorry. Oh God, I'm so sorry..." The boy sobbed, cradling his father's head as the screams and sirens filled his ears. He needed to go, to go home to his mother.
----------
Miles quietly crept into his window, sticking onto the ceiling then onto the floor. He could hear his mom shuffling around in the kitchen, she must have left work early today. He grabbed a pair of pants and a jacket to put over his suit as he threw his mask into his pocket. He crept open the door, making his way to the kitchen, watching his mother make rice along with some other dishes. Her brown eyes catch Miles, giving him a smile. "Mijo, when did you come home?" Her smiled dropped the bit at the sight of his beaten face and red eyes. "Mijo, Miles, what happened to you? Baby, que pasa?" She whispered as she made her way over, holding the sides of his face.
"Mami, I-.." Miles started, choking down a sob as the tears filled his eyes. "Mami, I... dad-".
"Honey, what happened to your father? Niño, tell me".
"He was helping a kid and he- he got killed- I tried to help but i- I was too late" He sobbed, clutching the hands to his face as her face twisted into pain. Pure, utter terror filled his mother's features. He took his mother quickly into his arms as he hear her loud sobs and screams, her hands falling from his face to his jacket, clutching onto it tightly.
He never wanted to see her like this again.
------
Miles sat in his room alone, his mother wanting to go look for her husband. Miles wanted to go with her, wanted to help, but she suggested he stay home.
"You've already seen enough, Mijo. Let me handle this, honey".
He sat upon his bed staring at the multiple drawings and tags on his wall when he heard his window open. It was Gwen. All he felt was fury.
"No, no you don't get to be here, get out" He growled, standing up and glaring at the blue eyed girl in front of him.
"Miles, I-"
"Don't you even dare apologize," he spit. "You, peter, Miguel and all the other spidermen were the reason my father," Miles walked up to her, grabbing on tightly to her suit, "got killed. You helped to make sure that happened".
"Miles it had to happen.." Gwen said, eyes tearing up.
"I COULD HAVE STOPPED IT," he yelled into her face. "IF YOU GUYS JUST HAVE LET ME GO HOME, HE'D BE HERE, PROBABLY MAKING SOME SORT OF JOKE ABOUT SPIDERMAN OR TALKING ABOUT COLLEGES" He screamed, shaking the girl as he cried. "Get out, Gwen. Do yourself a favor and don't come here again. I know your not allowed here," Miles rasped out, releasing her with a shove. "Go, I don't want to repeat myself" He spoke, watching as the girl slowly backed away, silently crying as she left.
He'd never, ever, forgive her.
