Chapter 1: A Chance Encounter
Y/N had always been the charismatic Spanish teacher at the local high school. With curly black locks that flowed down his much less captivating face and an infectious girlypop voice, he had a way of encapsulating his students in the gaze from his deep brown eyeballs. However, despite his outgoing personality, Y/N had yet to find that special someone to share his life with.
One rainy evening, after a long day at school, Y/N decided to take a different route home. He strolled down the flooded streets, enjoying the mundane sight of rainwater blasting into the sewers with a My Little Pony umbrella over his head. It reminded him of his childhood. He was so lost in thought he didn’t notice a car speeding towards him.
It sped past.
He was soaking wet along with his precious hello kitty backpack.
Too tired to feel anger, he turned to get off the road when a sign caught his eye. "The Enchanted Garden” it read, spanning a good two metres across a small shop. Y/N took a few steps towards it in awe of the flowers lining the frames of the windows.
Upon entering, Y/N was greeted by the cheerful sound of a bell, signalling a new customer. The sight that met his eyes was utterly unexpected – and enthralling to say the least.
"Thomas?" Y/N couldn't believe his eyes. It was indeed Thomas, but not the human Thomas he knew. Instead, it was Thomas the train engine, brought to life in this enchanting flower shop.
It was instant. And magnetic. This undeniable attraction he felt luring him towards this man. Or should he say… piece of metal. Y/N could feel his face emitting heat even in the air conditioned realm of the flower shop. He felt as though someone was slapping his heart from side to side. The last time he had felt this way was when he met his idol Jojo seewaa™️. Ah… what a memory that was.
"Y/N I never thought I'd see you here babe” Thomas uttered in the most scrumptiously manly voice known to mankind. Y/N couldn’t stop staring. Thomas exuded the most alluring charm that transcended the ordinary. The smooth curves of his slender body spoke of elegance and grace, while the gleaming fusion of nuts and bolts that held him together, hinted at a strength underneath the slender outline. His vibrant colours and cheerful demeanour made him utterly irresistible. Y/N choked out a reply, "I n-never thought I'd find you working at a flower shop, Thomas."
As Thomas the train engine and Y/N continued chatting, Thomas noticed a beautifully blooming amaryllis nearby. Its velvety crimson petals seemed to call out to him, almost as if it held a special message meant for Y/N.
With a gentle whirr, Thomas gracefully approached the radiant flower and delicately plucked it from its spot. He held the amaryllis in front of him, its lush beauty contrasting against the steel of his train body.
"Y/N," Thomas spoke softly, his voice as soothing as Gordon Ramsey’s, "this amaryllis seems to have chosen you. Its allure matches your own captivating presence." Y/N looked down at his now damp but still mud stained clothes. Captivating presence?
Thomas chuckled at his reaction, “Ok let me try that a different way”. “Behold the majestic amaryllis!" Thomas proclaimed dramatically, holding the flower aloft like a prized trophy. "It has chosen you, Y/N, the lucky recipient of its botanical affections"
Y/N's heart skipped a beat as he accepted the flower from Thomas, feeling an unexpected connection to the gift and Thomas’s poetic words. He was mesmerised by how gracefully Thomas moved and how effortlessly he seemed to understand the essence of the flowers in his care. He wanted to wife this piece of metal.
Chapter 2: Guilt and Grievance
Y/N and Thomas had been texting non-stop on Whatsapp ever since their meeting at the flower shop. Thomas had even been added to a group chat of bald white men that Y/N claimed were his colleagues.
Thomas could not get enough of Y/N. Every night he would surround himself with more amaryllises to remind him of their first significant memory together. Y/N on the other hand had accidentally fed his amaryllis to his cat Sharma. He spent three whole days mad at himself for allowing such an atrocious occurrence to occur. He had to make it up to Thomas.
That’s when a thought struck, and a great one too.
Chapter 3: Love in Paris
Excitement filled the air as Y/N and Thomas prepared for their adventure of a lifetime. Their impromptu decision to jet off to Paris had become a thrilling reality.
"Ready for takeoff, Mi Amigo?" Y/N chuckled.
The air hostess simply gawked at them from the aisle wondering what in Jesus was taking place before her eyes. Such an incident she never recalled reading about in even the bible. Why was there a rusty talking train engine occupying 2 whole seats on a passenger aircraft and an equally suspicious man sitting beside it. Was this normal??? Had the croissant she had this morning been drugged? She took a solid 180 degree turn and ran straight to the cockpit.
“Captain, what the fuck is going on”
“Oh you mean the train engine.. They paid a ton so we couldn't stop them. Try and ignore it for the sake of your sanity.”
A few minutes later
"Welcome aboard! We hope you have a pleasant flight," the flight attendant said, trying not to run away screaming. She wasn't getting paid enough to deal with mutant mechanical creatures. She thought back to the time her boyfriend made her play Choo-Choo Charles and shuddered.
As the plane taxied to the runway, Thomas held onto Y/N's hand, his grip firm yet reassuring. "We're in this together, Y/N," he said, his voice steady despite the excitement of the moment.
"Yes, we are, Thomas," Y/N replied, giving his hand a gentle squeeze.
With that, the plane accelerated down the runway, and soon, they were soaring into the skies, leaving the ground far below as a mere microscopic blend of forest and buildings. Thomas peered out the window, his eyes wide with wonder, as they embarked on their incredible adventure to the City of Love.
Chapter 4: The City of Love
Paris, the City of Love, was a dream come true for Y/N and Thomas. The pair explored the charming streets with Thomas taking Y/N everywhere in his passenger seat. He had never known that one could feel such genuine and pure joy in life.
People gaped at them constantly as if they were a greater wonder of the world than the Eiffel tower itself—not that either of the pair cared much.
They spent their days exploring quaint cafés, indulging in delectable pastries, and enjoying long walks along the Seine River. One afternoon, they even stumbled upon an enchanting flower market, where Thomas's eyes sparkled at the wide array of vibrant blooms.
Their laughter echoed through the streets as they continued their adventures, exploring hidden alleyways and leaving a trail of love in their wake. Y/N thought back to the students he had abandoned to come on this trip. They had their IGCSEs in a week, but what did it matter? This moment. This trip. That's all that mattered.
One evening, Y/N and Thomas found themselves on the iconic Pont des Arts, the love-lock bridge, with thousands of padlocks symbolising eternal love. Y/N pulled out a small padlock he had secretly brought from home (stolen from his daughter) and together, they fastened it to the bridge's railing.
"This lock represents our… eternal friendship, Thomas," Y/N declared. He then began to sing Despacito.
“Friendship… yeah”, Thomas said with a slight hint of disappointment in his voice. Y/N was too busy singing to notice it.
As the sun set over the Seine, they found themselves sitting by the riverbank as they watched the city's lights dance on the water. Time seemed to pause as they lost themselves in each other's presence, chatting away as if reminiscing on their past 80 years of living.
At that moment, Y/N knew he had found something extraordinary. Thomas had become more than just a train engine to him; he had become the missing piece of his heart.
Chapter 5: Way back home
The plane's journey across the vast blue skies was off to a smooth start. Y/N and Thomas, seated side by side, couldn't help but marvel at the breathtaking aerial views unfolding beneath them. The world seemed to stretch out endlessly, a canvas of beauty and wonder that captured their hearts.
Thomas's eyes gleamed with childlike wonder, his usual playful spirit shining through. He leaned close to Y/N, his voice filled with awe, "Can you believe this view?"
“It’s so slay fr”, Y/N responded, smiling at the visible joy in Thomas's eyes. His enthusiasm was infectious, and in that moment, he couldn't imagine a more perfect companion for this adventure.
However, as the flight progressed, the clear skies began to darken, and ominous clouds loomed on the horizon. The plane jolted with turbulence, sending shivers of unease through the passengers. Y/N instinctively gripped the armrest.
Thomas's exuberance faded into concern, and he looked to Y/N, his brow furrowed with worry. "Is everything alright?" he asked, his voice tinged with genuine concern.
Y/N tried to hide his own unease, offering a reassuring smile. "It's just a bit of turbulence, Thomas. Nothing to worry about," he said, hoping to quell his fears.
As they held onto each other for support, the turbulence intensified, and the aeroplane jerked violently. The pilot's voice crackled over the intercom, announcing that they were encountering rough weather ahead. The once tranquil journey had morphed into a nerve-wracking ordeal. The cabin was filled with nervous whispers, and Y/N could feel the collective tension as everyone clung to their seats, seeking a sense of security in the chaos.
Suddenly, a fierce storm engulfed the plane, and the situation grew increasingly dire. The plane shook with unprecedented force, and the cabin was filled with cries of fear and panic. "Brace yourselves!" the flight attendants called out, securing themselves for the impact.
Amidst the chaos, a powerful bolt of lightning streaked across the darkened sky, striking the aircraft with a force that reverberated through its very core. The blinding flash illuminated the terrified faces of passengers, their fear palpable in the air.
The impact of the lightning jolted the plane fiercely, causing the engine to sputter and falter. The comforting hum of the aircraft's engines was replaced by an unsettling silence, broken only by the sound of wind howling outside and the anxious whispers of passengers within.
Inside the cockpit, the pilot's voice crackled over the intercom, a mix of urgency and concern evident in their tone. "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have encountered a lightning strike, and the aircraft's engine has malfunctioned. We are experiencing a critical situation, and I must ask everyone to remain calm."
meanwhile
“Fuck my life. I had the shittiest croissant of my career, saw a weird ass talking train, and now this”, The air hostess murmured to herself while she buckled a seatbelt on. She was undoubtedly filled with numerous regrets about the decisions she had made earlier that day.
back to our protagonist
The gravity of the situation hit Y/N like a tidal wave. Panic spread like wildfire through the cabin as passengers clung to their seats, their white-knuckled grip betraying their anxiety. The once routine journey had transformed into a nightmare, and Y/N's heart pounded in his chest, the reality of the situation sinking in.
The sound of a pilot announcement echoed throughout the cabin. "The plane can't make it to the nearest airport. We'll have to make a water landing!"
Chapter 6: Torn Asunder
The plane was descending rapidly, aiming for an open body of water below. The impact with the sea was unavoidable, and fear gripped Y/N's heart as he braced himself. Thomas clutched onto Y/N tightly, praying for their safety. "Y/N, we'll both make it through this”. “We’ll get back home toge-”.
The crash was deafening.
A cataclysmic explosion of metal and fury that ripped through the very fabric of the plane. In that heart-stopping moment, time seemed to slow to a painful crawl, and the world transformed into a nightmarish white symphony of terror and destruction.
The acrid stench of burning fuel clawed at Y/N's throat, and the taste of fear was metallic on his tongue. Smoke filled the air, an ominous haze that obscured the nightmare unfolding before him. The desperate screams of passengers merged into an agonising chorus, reverberating through the wreckage.
As the dust and debris settled, a chilling silence engulfed the scene. It was a silence that screamed of shattered lives and dreams reduced to ruins. In that stillness, Y/N's heartbeat thundered in his ears, a relentless drumbeat of despair that threatened to drown him.
The cabin rapidly filled with water as the plane submerged into the sea. Y/N struggled to find his way to the surface amidst the chaos. He felt his head throbbing and had definitely broken some part of his body but fought his way to the surface.
Y/N finally got himself above, gasping furiously for air.
With trembling hands and adrenaline coursing through his veins, Y/N swam with the little strength left in his body, searching desperately amidst the wreckage for any sign of Thomas. The water around him was murky and filled with debris, making it difficult to see and navigate. Each passing moment felt like an eternity as his heart raced, fear and desperation driving his every move. And there, amidst the twisted metal and broken bodies, he finally spotted him. Relief flooded through Y/N as he saw Thomas's form, muted by the darkness.
"Thomas!" Y/N's voice cracked in a mix of relief and exhaustion.
"Thank goodness I found you! Are you okay?"
With trembling hands, he reached out to Thomas gently and turned him around. Y/N’s heart sank as he was presented with a haunting sight that sent a shiver down his spine. Thomas’s once vivid colours were now muted, stained by the darkness that engulfed them. A lump formed in Y/N’s throat, and his vision blurred on the sides with tears as he reached out, almost in disbelief.
"Thomas!" Y/N's practically begged with desperation etched into every syllable. "Please..not you…”.
But it seemed this time, the universe was unwilling to answer his plea. There was no response, no flicker of hope to cling to. Thomas lay motionless in his arms, a lifeless figure amidst the chaos.
Tears streamed down Y/N's face as he held him close, his heart shattering exponentially with each passing second, creating a void that could never be filled. His surroundings seemed to fade around him, his senses overwhelmed by the grief. In that agonising moment, he felt an unbearable sense of helplessness, as if the weight of the entire world had been thrust upon his shoulders.
"Come on, Thomas," Y/N whispered, his voice choking with emotion. "You can't leave me like this. We were supposed to get through this together, remember?”.
There was of course no response, only the haunting silence of a love that had been torn away too soon. Y/N shouted and cried but nothing he did could bring him back. The once vivid dreams they shared now lay broken, and the future they had imagined together vanished like smoke in the wind.
Chapter 7: Alone
Despite the overwhelming sorrow, Y/N knew he had to fight to survive. He had a daughter. Classes full of students. Although none of that seemed significant at that moment.
As the wreckage settled into the stillness of the night, Y/N found himself clinging to Thomas's lifeless body in the cold, unforgiving waters. The dim moonlight cast an ethereal glow over the scene, adding an eerie touch to the desolation surrounding them. With each gentle wave that lapped against them, a profound sense of solitude washed over Y/N.
In the embrace of darkness, Y/N's heartache was overwhelming, but the will to survive pushed him forward. He tightly intertwined his arms around Thomas's waist, using him as a buoy to stay afloat. Every stroke felt heavier than the last, the weight of grief and the expanse of ocean beneath him constantly weighing him down.
The night was unyielding, and as the hours passed, the temperature dropped, seeping into Y/N's bones.
"Thomas, mi amor" he whispered into the night, the sound of his own voice swallowed by the vastness of the ocean. "I wish you were here. I wish I could hear you sing Baby Shark with me one last time."
The night seemed to stretch on infinitely, each passing minute an agonising step towards the unknown. Y/N's body screamed for rest, and his mind begged for respite from the pain, but he persisted. It was as if he carried not only his own weight but also the will of Thomas.
Chapter 8: Unrequited love
As dawn approached, the horizon began to lighten, revealing the silhouette of an unfamiliar shore in the distance. Y/N had passed out of exhaustion the night before but was awoken by the feel of sand at his feet. He realised he must have floated through the night.
Shivering from the cold and still heartbroken, he pulled himself onto the beach, tears blending with the saltwater that clung to his skin. The heartache had become an eternal companion, a constant ache that would never truly disappear. With waves gently lapping at the shore, Y/N clung to Thomas's lifeless body, cherishing the fleeting moments they had shared.
As Y/N propped his body up, a half open metal compartment door at the bottom of the engine panel caught his eye. With his last reserve of strength, Y/N dragged himself towards it, his heart pounding in anticipation and uncertainty. He tugged open the compartment door, and as it creaked open, a bittersweet sight met his tear-filled eyes.
Inside lay an amaryllis.
