The battle was over, and Thorin Oakenshield awoke, naked and shivering, in the Halls of his Ancestors.
The novelty of being dead fades quickly, and watching over his companions soon fills him with grief and guilt. Oddly, a faint flicker of hope arises in the form of his youngest kinsman, a Dwarf of Durin's line with bright red hair.
(Follows the story of the War of the Ring).
(Bagginshield, Gimli/Legolas) In which recovery takes time, the dead members of the Company take to watching Gimli as though he’s a soap opera, the living struggle with being left behind, Legolas is confused, Khuzdul is abused, and Thorin is four feet and ten inches of guilt and anger.

I want to express huge respect to all those preparing to take on this epic. I am looking forward to listening to this over potentially the next year. I read this story a few years ago and loved it but listening to it is going to be a whole new experience and cannot express my admiration to all those taking part.

Hello Elany! Get ready for a long one lol, I'm listening on a plane ride and so very focused on this and this alone, and my phone is ready for my comment to be written as I go rather than after I'm done. 😂💕
First, your voice has such comfort and friendship vibes. Your pacing is so perfect to add to the emotion in your narration, which is already impeccable.
The reunions in particular are so delightful and heartfelt! Another stand out (to me) is how fun and cute and sweet you voice the children! You have such talent, it's not just pitch but some quality to your voice as well, because Bilbo pitches up similarly, and Gimli down, and yet their ages and maturity comes through so beautifully in their lines!
I just want to listen to you read Bilbo all day?? I hope there's lots of Bilbo in your later chapters too, which is hilarious because he's not usually my favorite at all. I like him fine, but the way you voice him makes me LOVE him.
This was so wonderful Elany, thank you for not only taking point on organizing this but also for doing such a wonderful job with your chapter and bringing me and others such joy!

  Perrrrry oh my god i'm literally sitting in my car, giddily buckling and unbuckling and buckling and unbuckling the seatbelt just to have something to do with my hands, that's how excited i am reading this
  i don't think this reply will be very coherent, mostly i'm just making high pitched noises in the vague direction of my phone, trying to somewhat contain my glee. i'm so happy you enjoyed this chapter tho, hope it made that plane ride go a little faster and also that you had a great trip =D

I'm finally listening to the whole thing all the way through, now that I have a commute to listen to it in :D Chili this chapter was amazing! I love the gentleness of Mahal's voice, with Thorin's bluster and grief, it really shows his kindness. and FrÍs! I love the voice you use for her. It fits so well <3333333
And then KÍli's petulant voice at the end LOL

Shash, I love the even cadence of your reading!! Idk how to explain it but you SOUND so dwarven??? It's so neat and the even pacing of your reading makes the horrors of post-war stand out even more starkly for the reminder that life goes on
