Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Playtime

Chapter Text

In a kid's bedroom, multiple boxes made to look like western buildings are placed in different areas. A little boy holds a Mr. Potatohead toy while a little girl is behind the other toys. The little boy is Andy and the little girl is Sam. Both kids are good friends. They enjoy playing together a lot.

Andy: (As Mr. Potato Head/One-Eyed Bart) "Alright everyone this is a stick-up. Don't anybody move. Now empty that safe." (Shakes Hamm, his piggy-bank, releasing the money) "Ohhoho, money, money money."

Sam: (As Bo Peep) "Stop it! Stop it, you mean old potato."

Andy: (Still as Mr. Potato Head/One-Eyed Bart) "Quiet, Bo Peep. Or your sheep get run over." (As Bo Peep's sheep) "Help. Baaa. Help us."

Sam: (As Bo Peep) "Oh, no. Not my sheep! Somebody do something!" Andy then grabs his favorite toy from his cowboy themed bed: A cowboy doll. He then pulls the doll's pull string. "Reach for the sky," the cowboy doll said from his voice box.

Andy: (As Mr. Potato Head/One-Eyed Bart) "Oh no. Sheriff Woody." (As Woody) "I'm here to stop you, One-Eyed Bart!" (Andy takes off one of Potato Head's eyes)(As One-Eyed Bart) "D'Oh! How'd you know it was me?"

Andy: (As Woody) "Are you gonna come quietly?" (As One-Eyed Bart) "You can't touch me, sheriff! I've brought my attack dog, with a built in forcefield!" (Sam places Andy's toy dog, Slinky, in front of Potatohead)

Andy: (As Woody) "Well, I brought my dinosaur who eats forcefield dogs!" (Andy brings out his toy T-rex and has him pretend to eat Slinky) "You're going to jail, Bart. Say goodbye to the wife and tater tots."

Andy takes Potatohead and places him in the baby crib labeled jail. Andy's baby sister Molly then grabs the toy and starts shaking him and hitting him on her crib rail, causing his parts to fall off.

Andy then picks up his beloved cowboy doll, smiling.

Andy: "You saved the day again, Woody." (He pulls Woody's pull string)

"You're my favorite deputy." Woody's voice box says. Sam then puts on her cowgirl hat and grabs her jump rope lasso, Andy doing the same.

(Sam's cowgirl hat)

Andy: "Come on, let's round up the cattle." The boy turns two boxes with cows drawn on them. Andy successfully lassos a cow with his jump rope, Sam almost as successful. But she just smiles at the fun she's having. The girl then grabs her favorite stuffed animal, Mr. Bun.

(Mr. Bun)

Andy put Woody on a remote-controlled car and drove them into a box, but not intentionally hurting the doll.

The boy then picks up the cowboy doll, placing him on his shoulders as the kids walk down the hall.

Andy then places Woody on the stair railing, having the doll slide down and the two kids quickly making their way down the stairs.

Just as Woody makes it to the bottom of the railing, Andy catches the cowboy doll. The two kids go into the living room and Andy and Woody spin in the recliner.

Andy places Woody at the bottom of the chair and then pulls the lever, sending the cowboy flying and then landing on the arm of the nearby chair. Sam just giggles a little, then sitting down next to Woody.

Andy then walks up to his mother as she's finishing setting up for her son's birthday party.

Andy: "Wow, cool!"

Mrs. Davis: "What do you think?

Andy: "Oh, this looks great, Mom!"

Mrs. Davis: (Laughs) "Okay, birthday boy."

Andy: "We saw it at the store, I asked you for it!"

Mrs. Davis: "One, two- Four. Yeah, I think that's gonna be enough."

Andy: "Can we leave this up until we move?"

Mrs. Davis: "Sure, we can leave it."

Andy: "Yeah!"

Mrs. Davis: "Now go get Molly. Your friends are going to be here any minute."

Andy then picks Woody up off the arm of the chair, Sam then standing up

Andy: "Okay. It's party time, Woody." The two kids then walk back up the stairs to Andy's room.

Molly is still playing with Mr. Potatohead as Andy approaches her crib.

Andy: "Howdy, little lady." Andy tips Woody's hat to his little sister, causing Sam to giggle. She loves that Andy is a good big brother.

"Somebody's poisoned the waterhole," Woody's voice box goes off as Andy places him on his bed.

Andy then picks Molly up out of her crib.

Andy: "Come on, Molly. Oh, you're getting heavy. See you later, Woody."

The kids then leave the room again and Sam then closes the door.

Toy Story Andy's Birthday

During the staff meeting, Woody mentions that even though they've mostly known Andy for the past six years, Sam is now just as important to them as Andy is.

Woody: "Even Sam deserves to be appreciated just as much as Andy given that they've been friends for a while."

Slinky: "Darn tootin' since they're like peas and carrots." (A/N: Anyone get the reference?)

Hamm: "Not to mention, she's like his ray of sunshine. Her smile makes his day a little brighter."

Rex: "Plus, she loves playing with us just as much as Andy."

Hamm: "Pardon me. I hate to break up the staff meeting but.... they're here! Birthday guests at three o'clock!" The toys then start to freak out.

Woody: "Okay.. meeting adjourned."

Up by the window, the toys try to see the kids with the gifts.

Hamm: "Ho, boy! Will you take a look at all those presents?"

Mr. Potato Head: "I can't see a thing." He takes out his eyes to see out the window.

Hamm: "Yes, sir, we're next month's garage sale fodder for sure!"

Rex starts to panic. "Any dinosaur shaped ones?!"

Hamm: "Oh, for crying out loud. They're all in boxes, you idiot." Rex panics again as the presents come into view. "They're getting bigger."

Slinky notices one gift that doesn't appear big. "Wait, there's a nice little one over there." But the toys then panic again when the present is revealed to be long. Woody meanwhile has decided he's had enough: It's time to take action.

Woody: "All right! All right! If I send out the troops, will you all calm down?"

Rex: "Yes! Yes! We promise!"

Woody: "OK! Save your batteries." Woody then walks off to a certain someone he knows who can help. Hamm is glad for his friend trying to keep calm. "Very good, Woody. That's usin' the old noodle."

Woody then jumps onto the bed, looking at Sarge.

Woody: "Sergeant, establish a recon post downstairs. Code Red! You know what to do." Sarge understands the mission, like always. "Yes, sir!" Sarge then gets the attention of his men. "All right, men. You heard him. Code Red! Repeat, we are at Code Red. Recon plan Charlie. Execute! Let's move! Move, move, move, move!" The soldiers then exit Andy's room. As the toy soldiers commence their mission, the kids are seen playing and laughing. Sam is also having a good time, but she can't wait until Andy sees her gift.

Mrs. Davis: "Ok, come on, kids. Everyone in the living room. It's almost time for the presents." As the kids head to the living room, unknown to the humans the toy soldiers are making their way down the stairs along with the second baby monitor.

Meanwhile, in Andy's room, Woody is setting up the first baby monitor as the others make their way towards the bedside table.

Woody: "And this is how we find out what is in those presents."

Meanwhile, back downstairs the toys soldiers are still making their way towards a hiding place, but one of the gets stepped on by Mrs. Davis.

Rex: "Shouldn't they be there by now? What's taking them so long?"

Woody: "Hey, these guys are professionals. They're the best. Come on! They're not lyin' down on the job." Well, more or less.

Back downstairs, the toy soldiers then come alive again after the area is clear. Sarge notices one of the soldiers looking hurt and limping. "Go one without me! Just go!"

Sarge: (Picks up the wounded soldier) "A good soldier never leaves a man behind." He then motions for the rest of the soldiers on the landing to lower the baby monitor, the others carry it to the flower pot. A ball rolls towards them so they move fast and climbs into the pot just as the ball rolled by, followed by the boys and Andy's mom. The soldiers set the baby monitor up while a medic tends to the wounded soldier and gives a thumbs up to Sarge who peers under the leaves and look through his binoculars to see the presents.

Mrs. Davis: "Everybody settle down. Now, kids. Everybody..... You sit in a circle. No, Andy. Andy, you sit in the middle there. Good. And..... Which present are you gonna open first?" One boy says "Mine!" Sarge looks at the pile of presents through his binoculars.

Sarge: "There they are."

Upstairs in Andy's room, the toys hear Sarge's voice on the baby monitor.

Sarge: (Over the monitor) "Come in, Mother Bird. This is Alpha Bravo."

Woody: (Excited) "This is it! This is it! Quiet, quiet!" Sarge: "Come in, Mother Bird. All right, Andy's opening the first present now."

Mr. Potato Head: "Mrs. Potato Head! Mrs. Potato Head! Mrs. Potato Head!" Rex and Hamm look at him, clearly confused.

Mr. Potato Head: "Hey, I can dream, can't I?"

Sarge: "The bow's coming off. He's ripping the wrapping paper. It's a.... It's..... It's a...... a lunch box. We've got a lunch box here."

Woody: "A lunch box?"

Mr. Potato Head: "Lunch box?"

Sarge: "Okay, second present. It appears to be..... Okay, it's bed sheets." (A/N: Pretty obvious what theme they are.)

Mr. Potato Head: "Who invited that kid?"

Mrs. Davis: "Okay, which one's next?"

Sam: "Mine, please." Sam says with a smile. Mrs. Davis then grabs a medium sized box that's wrapped in cowboy themed wrapping paper.

Sarge: "Okay, third present. It's a..." Andy then opens the box to find a sky blue and cloud themed teddy bear dressed in a similar outfit to Woody, hat included.

(A/N: I thought this would be nice)

Sarge: "It's a cowboy themed teddy bear. Repeat, a cowboy themed teddy bear." Though the toys don't freak out, given that the new toy is western themed.

Woody: "Wow, I bet he's nice."

Mr. Potato Head: "Now you'll have a fuzzy sidekick."

Slinky Dog: "I wanna meet this fella."

Rex: "At least you'll have an extra sheriff companion, Woody."

Meanwhile downstairs, Andy gives Sam a big thank you and a hug.

Andy: "Wow, Sam. Thank you. He's so cute. You can help me name him if you want."

Sam: (Smiles at her friend's happiness) "I knew you'd like him. I picked him out especially for you. Plus, he looks like Woody."

Sarge then continues to watch as Mrs. Davis picks up the presents one by one until there's only one left.

Mrs. Davis: "Only one left."

Sarge: "Okay, we're on the last present now."

Woody: "Last present!"

Sarge: "It's a big one.. It's... It's a board game! Repeat, Battleship!"

Woody gives a sigh of relief.

The toys cheer, happy that they have a new friend, but know that they won't be replaced.

Hamm: "Hallelujah! Yeah! All right!"

Hamm accidentally bumps into Potato Head, knocking off his parts once again.

Mr. Potato Head: "Hey, watch it!"

Hamm: "Sorry, old spud head."

Downstairs, Sarge gives the all clear that the mission is done.

Sarge: "Mission accomplished. Well done, men. Pack it up. We're goin' home." One of the soldiers turns off the baby monitor.

Woody: "So did I tell ya? Huh? Nothin' to worry about."

Slinky: "I knew you were right all along, Woody. Never doubted ya for a second."

Downstairs, Sarge sees Mrs. Davis pull out a surprise present from the closet.

Mrs. Davis: "Wait a minute. Oh! What do we have here?"

Sarge: "Wait! Turn that thing back on!"

The baby monitor goes off upstairs. "Come in, Mother Bird! Come in, Mother Bird! Mom has pulled a surprise present from the closet. Andy's opening it. He's really excited about this one."

Andy: "Mom, what is it?" He opens the box and has an excited look on his face.

Sarge: "It's a huge package." A kid blocks Sarge's view. "Oh, get outta the.... One of the kids is in the way. I can't see."

Rex is getting anxious to know what the gift is. "It's a what? What is it?" He then shakes the table, causing the baby monitor to fall and the batteries to pop out. "Oh, no!"

Mr. Potato Head: "Oh, ya big lizard! Now we'll never know what it is!"

Hamm: "Way to go, Rex!" Potato Head tries to put the batteries back in, but he puts them in backwards.

Woody tries to instruct him. "No, Turn 'em around! Turn 'em around!"

Hamm: "He's puttin' 'em in backwa..... Here, you're puttin' 'em in backwards!" He tries to move the batteries forward.

Woody: "Plus is positive, minus is negative! Oh, let me!" He then jumps down and shoves
Hamm aside to put the batteries back in.

Downstairs, Andy and the others start to head towards the stairs.

Sarge: "Red alert! Red alert! Andy is coming upstairs!"

Woody then gets the batteries back in and then lifts the baby monitor up just in time to hear Sarge.

Sarge: "Juvenile intrusion! Repeat, resume your positions now!"

Woody: "Andy's comin', everybody! Back to your places! Hurry!"

The toys then run back to their locations just as Andy and the kids are running back up the stairs.

Hamm: "Get to your places! Get to your places!"

Potato Head realizes that his ear is missing. "Where's my ear? Who's seen my ear? Did you see my ear?" Hamm quickly tosses it to him. Woody quickly gets back on Andy's bed.

Rex: "Out of my way! Here I come! Here I come!" He bumps into Andy’s garbage pail with a teepee on it and falls over.

As the boys and Sam run up the stairs, Lenny the binoculars walks to the shelves and Woody flops down on the bed just as Andy and his friends burst in. Sam places the cowboy bear on a nearby chair as Andy and the boys go crazy over Andy's new toy.

"Hey, look, its lasers light up."

"Take that, Zurg!"

"Quick, make a space. This is where the spaceship lands." One boy pushes Woody from his spot and put the spaceship on it. Woody just about falls off the bed, only for Sam to save him and place him by the cowboy bear.

Andy: "And he does it like that. And he does a karate chop action!"

The kids then hear Andy's mother calling them. "Come on down, guys! It's time for games!"

The kids and Sam then rush out of the room. Leaving the toys alone once again.
