Chapter Text

In the agency, things tend to end in chaotic trouble. Especially when Ranpo runs out of snacks, he tends to annoy Kunikida and Yosano. Which causes, Yosano to take him shopping with her for being annoying. Because of that, it leaves Kunikida in the office to finish up the cases that Ranpo leaves behind and doesn’t do. Knowing this, Fukuzawa, who is often in his office, decides to come out and check on the trio.

When he comes out, he finds the office quiet, which is unusual for them.

Because of that, he yells out, "Ranpo, Yosano, Kunikida!"

No response in return, which is unsettling for the agency and especially for him. Since the trio is overly chaotic, they tend to make noise at any time. So by not hearing anything, makes him curious and surprised about where they have gone or been up to.

So without knowing their whereabouts, he decided to look around the agency briefly.

Then decided to look at the cafe downstairs. As he knew the trio liked to go there together on their breaks.

So he quickly went out of the agency and walked towards the elevator which was just down the hall left to the door of the agency. After arriving by the elevator, Fukuzawa stepped out of the elevator, and found a waiter cleaning the counter.

So he sat down in front of him on a chair that was in front of the counter and asked,

“Excuse me, sir, but have you seen these three people?”

He was holding up a photo of him and his ki- I mean, his subordinates to show the waiter.

The photo showed him and the trio posing for the official photo of the Armed Detective Agency at the time. Because of that, it was really special to him.

What the photo exactly showed was, himself sitting on a chair and wearing a fancy looking suit. While, Ranpo and Yosano were on his right and left of him and Kunikida was behind them, looking at the camera with a scornful look on his face.

But like him, the trio was wearing their own formal clothes as well. Yosano was wearing a long-sleeve white shirt with a black skirt to match. And had her hair in a bun in the back with her butterfly clip on it.

While Ranpo was wearing a black waistcoat with a white long-sleeve shirt and a loose tie and also wore his glasses on his face and black formal pants to match the rest of the outfit.

Lastly, Kunikida had his hair in a low ponytail, as he always had. And what he wore was a striped vest; under it, he had a long-sleeved collared shirt, and he wore black slacks as well.

After looking at the photo for a while, the waiter nodded at Fukuzawa who asked another question.

"Did they go anywhere far from here? Or did they go back to the agency that they work for?"

The waiter replied, “The two young men and women did go outside of the cafe to get a bit of fresh air. And did come in right after and went towards the elevator to go back to their workplace.”

Hearing this reply, Fukuzawa thought about the places that they could have gone. But the only conclusions he made were the cafe and the agency. But seeing as they weren't currently there at the cafe, he decided to look through the agency one more time.

Before he did that, though, he turned to the waiter and said, “Thank you for this information, sir, and I hope you have a good day.”

“You have one too, sir.” Replied the waiter, who turned his back on Fukuzawa and returned to his previous work.

After receiving that reply, Fukuzawa went to the elevator and went up to the agency floor. And when he opened the door and looked at the agency from the main entrance.

The first thing he saw, was the agency couch. Which is something they used for the client to sit on and talk about their case. Besides that, he saw were the rows of desks that were near the windows of the agency. And the ones that weren’t near them but were near the bookshelves instead.

But only two desks stood out to him. One of the desks was separated from the others and was at the back of all the desks, alongside the windows. The other desk was one of the desks that were alongside the windows. The first was quite messy and had basic office supplies. But also had many snacks and candy wrappers on the floor near it.

That is something that is really disgusting, thought, Fukuzawa.

While, the other desk was quite neat and tidy, with nothing on the floor, unlike the other. But had many papers and cases that certainly didn’t belong to the owner of the desk.

This isn’t really surprising, thought Fukuzawa in a calm tone but later became a worried one. As he also thought, the owner of the desk should really take a break.

Furthermore, Fukuzawa moved from his spot at the entrance of the Agency. And started to walk past the mentioned desks to the other rooms of the agency.

The first room he walked into was the conference room. The room had a large table and chairs along with it. Besides the table and chairs, the room also has a large white board, which is rarely used. In fact, the whole room was barely used. As none of the members of ADA had used it for anything after all.

Since he saw no sign of the trio in this room, he quickly left and turned to another room in the agency. While doing this, all he could think about was where the trio was.

While thinking this, Fukuzawa did the same thing with the other few rooms of the agency that got him, with the same conclusion as the first room. They were empty, dusty, and had no sign of where Ranpo, Kunikida, and Yosano had gone.

Having not seen any sign of them in any of the previous rooms, he had checked. Fukuzawa murmured to himself,

“If they aren’t in the next room of the agency, I have to make a quick trip to the port mafia. To see a certain someone about their whereabouts.”

Agreeing with himself on his words. Fukuzawa approached the finale room, that he hadn’t checked at all within the Agency. The particular room that he was talking about was Yosano's office.

He had only gone to Yosano’s office for injuries and to talk to her about things. He did the same with Ranpo and Kunikida. These conversations he had with these three were really special to him. As it’s a way for him to connect with them, as he started to have paternal feelings towards the trio.

Since Fukuzawa has come to care for the trio as a paternal figure, he had to find them for his sake and their sake. So he opened the door to her office and quietly entered. As he fully entered the office which is also the infirmary. He looked around to see a normal office with special items that seemed to hold value for Yosano to keep.

The items were photos, Knicks-knacks, some medical items, and other things. While looking at these things, Fukuzawa had a fond look and a bit of a smile to match. But soon that smile starts to fade away as he hears a mix of soft breathing in one of the beds in the office.

Fukuzawa walks cautiously towards the bed and finds three people on it. He lets out a small breath when he finds out who the three people are.

The three people he saw were the trio, and they were cuddling. Kunikida was in the middle of the cuddle pile, with both of his shoulders being used as a sort of pillow for Ranpo and Yosano’s heads to lay on. Besides this, he had his arms surrounding the other two as a way to protect them. His face had his glasses still on and had a peaceful look on it too.

Seeing Kunikida like this, Fukuzawa carefully moved towards him and plucked his glasses from his face, and put the item on a nearby table.

After this, Fukuzawa whispered to himself again,

“In the future, I need to make sure, Kunikida takes a break once in a while.”

No one in the room, heard his whisper besides him. He moved his head and turned to look at the other two, Ranpo and Yosano.

Ranpo had a peaceful look on his face as well. And one of his hands touched one of Kunikida’s hands. While the other touched one of Yosano’s hands. Yosano was parallel to Ranpo, as one of her hands touched one of his hands and the other touched Kunikida’s hand.

Seeing their bond in front of him made Fukuzawa have a smile on his face. So he quickly walked to a nearby bed and grabbed the blanket from it. After he grabbed the blanket, he walked back to the bed on which the trio was sleeping on.

Once he got close enough, he used the blanket to cover the trio up with it. After seeing them in blanket, Fukuzawa was full of love for them. So he went and pressed a little kiss on Ranpo forehead’s and did the same thing with Yosano and kunikida.

After this, he spoke to them in fond voice,

“Have sweet dreams, kiddos”.

Then, he stared at them one more time before leaving the office to get work on some of the cases for ADA.

Chapter Text

In the early morning at the ada…..

A 15 year old boy named Kunikida Doppo is working on some case reports that the Agency had from a few days ago. The cases were so boring and average. That even writing reports for them were boring. And even Kunikida himself had a hard time writing on them. Because of that, it made him wish that he was somewhere else but here. Despite this, he still had a long work ahead of him, which he deeply dreaded.

But he isn’t the only one, as Yosano is also doing some reports. While also studying for some medical exams, that she had coming up in the next few weeks.

But as this might seem a lot work for one person, Yosano knew she could handle it. Even if she didn’t particularly enjoy her task.

But for the other two members of the Agency; Ranpo and Fukuzawa. They were off on a special errand that Yosano and Kunikida had no idea was about. And only knew that, that they would return in the late afternoon. Since the two would return later, the main room would be quiet and only have the sound of Kunikida’s writing.
As Yosano decided to hers in the infirmary/her office.

While Kunikida did his in the main room. Since the two of them decided that they would go to different rooms of the Agency to not distract each other from doing work.

And they were doing exactly that, but weren’t enjoy it especially Kunikida.

“I don’t want to be here,” thought Kunikida as he went through the piles of work that he had.

Yosano thought the same thing but kept doing her work. But couldn’t get her mind off on what type of errand, Ranpo and the President went on that allowed them to return in the late afternoon. But, seeing as she was getting distracted from her work, Yosano quickly went back to work.

A few hours passed by and Kunikida was finally done with his reports, which is something he was grateful for. So he decided to just relax until he thought of something. What he thought was checking on Yosano and how she was doing with her own workload.

So going along with his thoughts, Kunikida stood from his desk, leaving his ideals behind. And quickly walked to Yosano’s office/infirmary, briefly passing a messy desk from a certain black haired detective.

After reaching the door of the older teen’s office. He knocked on the door three times, as gently as he could. And after hearing that soft “Come in” from the older teen, he opened the door to the office and came in.

A surprise came to Yosano when Kunikida came into her office. As he never entered her office that often, which is something she was grateful for.

Since she knows that Kunikida is quite a stubborn and reckless kid. That has a strong moral compass for his age and to fulfill his ideals in some way. Which is really something that Yosano had a hard time understanding but supported anyway.

So by knowing this, she spoke,

“So, Kunikida, what brings you here to my office?”

“Well, I was wondering if you needed anything, Yosano?” Said Kunikida with awkward look on his face.

“Well, I don’t need anything at the moment, Kunikida but you are welcome to stay with me if you want.”

“Alright, Yosano!” replied Kunikida to the older teen.

As he sat down on a close chair which was near to Yosano’s own desk. Then grabbed some work from her own pile to work on it himself. Which is something Yosano greatly appreciated.

Two hours later, Yosano and Kunikida were finally done with all of the work and Yosano’s studying. Which is something that the two of them were both glad for. Since they both thought this was pretty boring.

As they had nothing else to do, they just sat thinking about random things. As the both of them knew that they rather enjoyed each other’s company than have many conversations.

Because of that, a comfortable silence began again. And that was something they both knew would eventually happen. As similar times like this have happened before, even when the pair was with Ranpo and Fukuzawa.

But this time around, it’s different as Kunikida had an idea about what to do now until the President and Ranpo got back.

So he turned to face the older teen and spoke “Hey, wanna to play a game for a bit?”

As he stood up from his chair to stretch his arms and legs.

“Interesting” Yosano thought, but went along on with what Kunikida was planning. And went out of her chair and stretched as well.

But then she spoke, “Alright then, Kunikida, what game to you have in mind?”

“I was thinking, a game of 2 truths and a lie.” Replied Kunikida as he and Yosano sat back down in their chairs.

Hearing that game be mentioned, really surprised Yosano especially from Kunikida’s own mouth. But she went along with the suggestion and nodded to Kunikida.

Seeing the nod, Kunikida continued to speak.

“So who is going first? Me or You?”

“You.”

“Alright then. Here is my three things,“ Kunikida says while holding up three fingers. But quickly put them down and began to say his three things.

“One is after the President became my legal guardian, I maybe or maybe not cried for an hour. When I heard the news of it from Ranpo.“ Kunikida says.

“Two is, that I might have recently had my first kiss. And three is, I accidentally ate some of Ranpo’s candies after we first met.” He quickly adds on and waits for a response from Yosano.

Yosano thought about three choices but quickly realized what choice was actually the lie as she was there for two of them.

And going with that logic, she questioned,

“It’s the one about eating Ranpo candies isn’t it?”

“Yeah, it is. And you know why is it the lie?”

“Yeah, since Ranpo gave you those willingly.” Yosano stops talking and realizes something else.

So she points a finger out to Kunikida and says in a teasing tone.

“You kissed someone, Kunikida and you didn’t tell me. Your Friend who is basically sister!”

“I told you, It was recent and besides this isn’t about me.” Kunikida replies with a flustered face, while moving both of his hands to signal to move on.

Thankfully, Yosano seemed to get the hint and reminded Kunikida, It was her turn now.

So she spoke in the same manner, Kunikida did before when it was his turn.

“One is that, when I worn heels for the first time, I tripped over so much, I cried for an hour. Two, is that I think of you and Ranpo as my little and older brothers. While I think of Fukuzawa as my Father figure.”

Yosano had a compassionate and fond expression on her face when she said that and little did she know, Kunikida had one too.

“But moving on from these sappy feelings, the last one is I spilled coffee on Ranpo’s hat which ended up on me having to give him a replacement for it.” Yosano says, looking straight at Kunikida who figures out the lie quite quickly.

“It’s the heels one, since I know about the hat replacement because of Ranpo.” Kunikida says with a confident look on his face.

”Correct, also when or how did Ranpo even tell you this?” questioned Yosano.

“Well one time, I found him trying to hide something from the President and once he saw me seeing him do this. He told me to be quiet about it and told the story about the hat replacement for my silence.” replied Kunikida as he took his glasses off briefly to clean them off. 

“So that’s how you find out okay then.” Yosano sounded so relieved when she heard Kunikida reply.

”Anyway Yosano, what should we do now?” asked Kunikida who had no idea what to do now. 

“We could go shopping?” Yosano replied with a big smile on her face.

“Well, alright then.” Is all he is going to say in return.  

As he knew on letting Yosano go on a shopping spree would cause some sort of chaos. But decided to let it go for once.

Yosano in return nodded and grabbed things that were important like keys, wallet and phone. Then walked out of the infirmary, to main room of the Agency and went to grab something. 


Seeing her walk out from the infirmary. Kunikida wondered, what did Yosano even need if everything she needed was in this room.

And luckily for him, this was quickly answered. As Yosano came back in with an item which surprised Kunikida a bit. 

The item in question was Kunikida’s ideal book. 

The ideal book was a special item he received from a special person in his life before he met Fukzawa, Ranpo and Yosano.

And they all knew that. But seeing it from someone that he considered family was a bit special.

So Kunikida smiled at Yosano who returned the smile and followed her out of the agency.

A more few hours later.

Kunikida and Yosano were done with their shopping and ended up in the Cafe that was below the Agency. The two of them ordered lunch and began eating.

While eating, their things from their shopping spree were right next to them.

And they were a lot.

As some stuff were for Kunikida and many of them were for Yosano.

So knowing the amount of bags, his sister figure had, Kunikida stopped eating and asked her a question.

As they, both knew that this would eventually happen.

“Yosano, you sure, you need this many things?”

She replied back. “Yes I do, kuni. And don’t act like you didn’t buy things either.” As she grabbed one of her utensils to grab a bit of her food.

“Well alright then.” Kunikida replied back and went to eating his food as he knew Yosano would never back down.

After both of them finished their meals, the two of them payed for their meal and took the elevator back to the agency with their things in hand.

Yosano unlocked the door and entered the agency first and Kunikida followed her in.

The agency was just as they left it and had no sign of anyone breaking in.

Because of that, Kunikida with the bags in one hand dropped them in a corner of the main room due to sudden tiredness he had.

Then went to the agency’s couch and dramatically layed down like the 15 year old he was.

Amused at this action from Kunikida, Yosano grinned and went near Kunikida and ruffed his blonde hair with one of her hand.

Kunikida who unexpected this action, said

“Hey, what is that for!” and got his hands near his hair to try stop Yosano from ruffling it more.

Yosano replied, “Wel——“

A sudden noise interrupted and came from the front door of the Agency. Yosano and Kunikida looked at each other and nodded and moved out near the door. And they both thought the same thing, who could it be?

But luckily for them, the people outside entered the agency, before they know it, and the people who entered was Fukuzawa and Ranpo.

Fukuzawa looked tired but also happy to see the two of them and the agency in same state as he left it in.

While Ranpo was the opposite, looked very lively and has no sign of the tiredness at all. And also has a bag of candy in one of his hands.

Kunikida wanted to say something to them. But Yosano beat him to it.

“Welcome back, President and Ranpo” She says.

He repeats after her.

Fukuzawa replies, “Thank you, Yosano and Kunikida for keeping the agency and yourselves safe and sound.”

“You’re welcome, President.” The two of them say at the same time, which surprises both of them.

Amused at their actions, Ranpo says,

“You two, didn’t have that much fun without me?”

“Nope,” Kunikida says in teasing tone.

“Yeah, not really,” adds Yosano in her own teasing tone.

Ranpo just simply smiled at them and walked away with the two of them following him. While Fukuzawa was looking at some leftover reports from earlier.

Besides this, Ranpo had one thought in his mind. Which was the fact, his younger siblings finally had a little bonding day and understood each more than they had already did. Which made him happy of their bonding.

And he wouldn’t change that feeling for the world.

Chapter Text

16 yrs old Ranpo : Aren’t you a bit tall to be 12 years old boy?

12 yrs old Kunikida, already tired of Ranpo’s BS: Don’t you look a bit young to be 16 yrs old?

Ranpo suddenly shellshocked :

15 yrs old Yosano laughing: HAHAHA!

Yosano, with a high voice and holding a someone’s Barbie:  Hey Ken, I was thinking about, you know, maybe taking the year off, going back to college, starting my career...

Ranpo with deeper voice and holding Someone’s Ken: Nonsense, Barbie. You're staying home and having my kids.

Kunikida who just walked in: What are you guys doing?

Yosano without look at him: Playing systemic oppression.

Fukuzawa, about Kunikida officially joining the agency: We are getting something new to the Agency, you two!

Ranpo, knowing who it is: Are we stealing them?

Yosano also knowing who it is: Younger or older?

Fukuzawa deadpanned: Wonderful responses, you two!

A Sleep deprived Fukuzawa: Good morning Kids!

This might seem normal but he said this to Cats who look similar to his kids.

Kunikida, seeing this : Should we tell him, he’s talking to cats?

Yosano: Nah, let him figure out on his own.

Ranpo: Yeah, let the coffee kick in first.

Kunikida : You, sure we should be doing this?

Yosano: Nope, Ranpo?

Ranpo: Nope! But let’s do this anyway!

A fire starts in the background behind them.

Kunikida : how the heck, am I the youngest, but the most mature.

Yosano: Trauma

Ranpo: Trauma.

Kunikida: ughh, Never mind.

A sleeping Kunikida on the ADA Couch.

Yosano: Aww, doesn’t he look warm.

Ranpo: He sure does. Anyway ready, Akiko?

Yosano: Ready!

Then at the same time, they both yell, Wake up Kunikida!.

Kunikida: Why did you do that!

Yosano and Ranpo : For Fun!

Then the two run away, with Kunikida chasing them.

Yosano: I Hate you!

Ranpo: Ooh? Well next time, Don’t steal my monopoly!

Fukuzawa: Yosano, give Ranpo your $200.

You landed on his property.

Yosano: No! He’s in Jail! I’m not gonna give money to a criminal.

Ranpo: That’s not how you PLAY!

Kunikida: President, can we stop playing now?

Fukuzawa: Shut up, Kunikida! You can’t talk after stealing my last railroad!

Yosano: I wish I was never born!

Kunikida: Me too! You think I wanted this!

Ranpo: Ahhh!

Fukuzawa flips the board to distract them.

Chapter Text

Birthdays are important to everyone day to day life. Since they are a sign for everyone to that you are growing older.

And for the Armed Detective Agency, it wasn’t any different. So let’s see how the first four members celebrated each other’s birthday.

January 10th

Fukuzawa didn't know what to except today despite it being his birthday as many things have happened, since his last one. As first, he owned a agency now and ain't an assassin anymore.

And he is sort of... a father now.

As he seemed he taken in three orphans before he knew it.

Well, it was only two and half as his youngest still had both of his parents. But Fukuzawa knew better as he heard his youngest talk about his home life and how he been left home alone a lot.

With that, Fukuzawa continued to take care of him as much as his two other children.

And he found himself loving these children like they were actually his through blood rather than adoptive. But despite that, he still love them as they are.

With that, Fukuzawa headed towards his agency like it was a normal day not his birthday. While also wondering what his kids are up to at agency due to the fact, Kunikida let it slip that they were up to something.

So with that, he had to keep open mind what they were up to and what to except when he entered the agency.

And when he opened the door to the agency with his key and he saw darkness at first.

But then a full burst of color as he heard a chorus of "Happy Birthday!".

And shock came to him at first but gratitude came to him. And it showed on his face with a smile.

As what he saw was something he will never forget.

The exact scene is the agency’s main room being decorated with colorful balloons and streamers.

But the scene that got caught Fukuzawa's eye the most was his kids who are behind the table that has cake. The cake has the candles that are lit and had the saying of Happy birthday on it.

While his kids had smiles on their faces and Ranpo had in hand a confetti popper, which he launched somewhere near him. While the other two, Yosano and Kunikida were saying “Happy birthday!”

Seeing them made him smile and he kept smiling when he reached his kids and pulled them into a group hug.

His kids returned the hug and were smiling too while in the hug. With that, Fukuzawa says thank you.

“Thank you, kids,” Fukuzawa says with a smile to his kids who don’t see his smile but hear his words and reply by making the hug a bit more tighter.

After this, the hug breaks and the kids lead him to his birthday cake and pressure him to blow his candles out and make a wish.

“C’mon make a wish, President,” says Kunikida with a smile.

“Yeah, make a wish,” urges Yosano with her hands up.

And Ranpo doesn’t say anything but just nods to him with a knowing smile.

With that, Fukuzawa makes his wish and blows his candles out.

Then he goes celebrate with his family.

And little did he know a familiar cat he knew was watching this exact scene.

October 21

As a genius detective as himself, Ranpo pride himself to knowing everything and anything that could happen. So he immediately knew something was up.

With that, he should probably act surpised or something. After all, these are his younger siblings and his boss/father figure.

They can be predicable at times for a genius like him.

Especially if it’s a day like this.

But a genius like him, some things he can’t even deduct with his ability.  With that brings him a lot of emotions.

But this time, the emotion that came to him was joy.

As when his father figure leads him to the Agency’s door with his eyes being covered by one of his hand and the other in his hand.

Joy just comes to him as he see the main room being decorated with balloons and Steamers. Besides this, he sees his favorite snacks alongside a cake which has the saying of Happy birthday.

And most importantly he sees Yosano and Kunikida. His younger siblings who he often teases and cares for a lot. Despite not outright saying it with his words, but rather with his actions.

And he showed it exactly that as he with his hand still in hand with his father figure’s hand pulled him along to the other two.

Then pulled them all together in a group hug, which they are returned and hugged back.

After this, the hug broke apart.

And then Yosano, Kunikida and Fukuzawa told Ranpo.

“Happy Birthday,” they say in unison, with a smile on their faces.

Which Ranpo saw smiled back and says.

“Well, if this little party for me, let’s get the party started then,” he says as he starts to snack on his favorite snacks before eating his cake or blowing out the candles of the cake.

Yosano and Kunikida sigh in unison and scolded him on this. Well, Kunikida did scolded, as Yosano was busy laughing at the scolding from Kunikida to Ranpo.

And Fukuzawa was just smiling at them with amusement.

And for Ranpo who finally looked at the scene altogether and smiled.

And of course, blew out his Birthday candles out.

December 7th

For these past few years, her birthday weren’t celebrated as she was involved with the war and after it. With that, her birthday just became a day and every other day became one filled with the same nightmares at night. And regret in the day of the use of her ability during the war.

That was until, she was saved by a certain detective and former assassin.

Who made her believe in herself again and the use of her ability.

And made her birthday not be a passing day anymore and actually celebrated it with her, the best they can.

With that, made Yosano grateful, but made her wonder aswell on what they got planned this year. Especially with an interference of a blonde but stubborn and kind kid this year.

And that question is answered when Ranpo finally lets her see the agency’s main room.

The main room was decorated with balloons and streamers that were colorful and bright. Besides this, there was also some butterflies hanged up along the streamers.

Which made Yosano think that a certain someone with their notebook created them. Especially since the butterflies were the perfect size to made from the notebook in question

And speaking of the certain someone, he was near the birthday cake smiling at her.

And behind him was Fukuzawa who had a hand on his shoulder and smiled at her too.

And without no question, Ranpo was smiling at her too with a lollipop in his mouth.

Seeing this scene of her family makes her feel grateful indeed. That she said something.

“Thank you,” Yosano says with a smile on her face. And the smile really showed how she was really glad for this day and her family to them.

Seeing the smile from her, made Kunikida reach her first and pulled her into a hug which the other two followed right after.

With that, the little family was in a group hug and Yosano was right in the middle of it.

The hug felt warm and loving to Yosano that when it broke apart, she felt a bit sad letting go of that warmth.

But that quickly went away, as she pulled again but this time near her birthday cake. Which has the exact candles for her age and of course had the saying of Happy Birthday on it.

With that, she gets a nudge from Ranpo who nodded his head towards the candles that were lit with a bright flame.

Besides that, she gets a firm hand on her back for support from Fukuzawa and a warm smile from Kunikida. Which Yosano saw and felt.

So with that support from her family, she blew out her candles and smiled.

August 30th

As the day went on, Kunikida knew something was up, especially the moment, he heard Katai’s excuse for splitting ways right after school ended.

“Sorry, Kunikida, I can’t walk with you today as I have a s-school club to go to, alright?” Katai says with a weird look on his face when he said that.

Hearing that from his friend, Kunikida knew Katai was hiding something due to the weird face, the boy has. But despite this, Kunikida let his friend go and replied.

“Alright, Katai, see ya later then,” He says with a smile to Katai.

Katai smiles back at him and says,

“See ya Kunikida.”

And walks off with an unknown purpose from Kunikida.

Kunikida sees Katai go for a bit and then walks off from the school towards to the Agency rather than his house. His lonely house with no one but himself in it. As his parents aren’t home that much anymore. Which causes him be alone often than not.

So he would much rather to be at the agency rather than being at lonely, quiet house.

Especially on this special day.

His birthday.

He never really thought as his birthday special in all honesty. But he had a hunch or more rather a feeling, that will change this year.

And little did he know he was right.

As right when Kunikida was about to go in the Agency, someone stopped him from doing so.

The person in question was Yosano who took one look at Kunikida and said something.

“Sorry Kunikida, you can’t enter just yet,” she says as walking out herself of the agency and signals Kunikida to follow her out.

Yosano adds on, “Come on, Let’s go.”

As she walks toward the elevator to go downstairs. She pressed the button for the elevator which doors ultimately open and walks insides.

Kunikida follows her in the elevator and doesn’t say anything at first. But right when the elevator closed its doors and started going down, he asks Yosano something.

“Why, can’t I go into the agency?” Kunikida says first and adds on,

“Also where exactly are we going?”

“First, you can’t go in due a secret and second, we are going to the cafe.” Yosano replies with a wink towards Kunikida who sighed and went along with today’s event at this point.

After this, the two went out of the elevator and went to the cafe and spend some time there.

Until Yosano dragged Kunikida back to elevator and led him to Agency’s door. Then pushed him towards the door.

And the first thing Kunikida saw after getting pushed was the room of the agency decorated with colorful balloons and streamers.

Which was unbelievable for Kunikida to believe it this was all for him. But he proven wrong once he saw the cake with exact candles for the age he was turning today.

Besides this, he saw some gifts nearby the cake on the floor.

But most importantly, he saw his real family not his parents, but his father figure and his older siblings who love him and don’t neglect him at all.

And strangely enough, he saw Katai too.

“Katai, what are you doing here?” says Kunikida with a surprised face. As he was really wondering why his friend here. Despite knowing earlier, that something felt off.

“To celebrate your birthday of course,”replies Katai with a smile on his face.

Hearing that surprised Kunikida again. But reasoned this is really why his friend was acting so weird earlier.

“Ohh, that’s why you acting weird earlier.” says Kunikida with pointing finger out towards Katai who has a full sheepish expression on his face now.

"Yeah, that's why," replies Katai with a still sheepish expression on his face which quickly turned into a smile again.

And with this smile, he adds on by saying,“Happy Birthday, Kunikida.”

Then gathers Kunikida in hug, which everyone else joins and say in unison, “Happy Birthday Kunikida!”

With smiles on their faces that Kunikida doesn’t see as he was in middle of the group hug. But once the group hug broke apart, he saw them which made him really happy to be with people he cared about the most on his birthday of all days.

After this, Kunikida was led by Yosano and Ranpo towards his birthday cake. Then was urged to blow his candles out.

“C’mon, Kunikida blow them out and don't forget to make a wish," says Yosano with a smile on her face. As she takes one of her hands to ruffs his hair a bit. Which Kunikida play fully swatted away with one of his hand.

“Yeah, Kunikida what she said,” adds Ranpo with a cheeky smile as he put his hand on  Kunikida’s shoulder for a little nudge of comfort.

Katai didn’t say anything but smiled at him, which is made Kunikida smile back at him after seeing it.

And Fukuzawa just patted Kunikida’s head in comforting way.

With that, Kunikida looked at the bright flame of the candles of his cake.

And blew them out with smile on his face.

Chapter Text

“Have you ever wondered what future members would be like? Or their abilities?”

Kunikida asks, out of the blue, while working on paperwork with his family in the main room of the agency one day.

They were only doing paperwork due to the fact, that it was piling up so much, that everyone needed to pitch in and do it.

And there was also another reason for it, which was everyone’s busy schedules. Sure, the agency right now is a small organization.

But it doesn’t exactly mean they weren’t busy per se. As everyone was busy with school (Kunikida), dealing with some Agency matters (Fukuzawa), helping out the local police with cases (Ranpo) or studying on medical things (Yosano) or other stuff like cases for the ADA.

With that, no one realized the paperwork from those cases or more rather, their reports were overfilling so much. That they didn’t notice until the very last second even with Kunikida’s schedule for them.

Kunikida’s schedule was new, but was something that the youngest member came up and had everyone agree with. So the agency could have some sort of stable ability work schedule thing.

But it still had its mistakes, hence- the last second thing with the paper work.

Anyway, hearing the question from Kunikida made everyone pause and think.

As it was a hard question to answer as what would happen in the future agency and the members they get.

The thinking of everyone else made the room go silent, that it also made Kunikida start to fidget with a pen he had nearby.

The fidgeting and silence of the room came to an end. When Ranpo gets up from his spot and moves near Kunikida and simply, ruffles his hair. 

The ruffling of Kunikida’s hair caused Fukuzawa and Yosano to break from their thoughts and smile at the scene.

But for Kunikida, it was opposite as he quickly got both of his hands to try to stop Ranpo from ruffling it.

But Ranpo managed to avoid the attempts from Kunikida, kept ruffing the hair for a bit more with a snicker on his face.

Then stopped and looked at his masterpiece that was Kunikida’s hair.

Kunikida’s blonde hair was messed up as several strands were all going in different directions. Which created a very funny image, that Yosano couldn’t stop her self from laughing.

Her laughter was contagious that Ranpo joined in right after and even a bit later, Fukuzawa showed a bit of amusement as well.

And Kunikida had deadpanned expression on his face while this was happening.

But that expression soon changed as he saw his family be happy from his messy hair and let slide this one time and simply just smiled.

The laughter soon came to end and a more comfortable silence took place.

And now with a clear mind someone finally had answer to Kunikida’s question and spoke out about it.

“Kunikida,” Yosano starts, “It doesn’t matter where the future members came from or act like to me. But I do hope, they do know that they will always have a place here.”

She finished saying this with the smile.

Hearing her words, Kunikida felt a bit lighter in a way as the reason he asked his questions was some random thought that just came up in his mind.

As for the other two, Fukuzawa felt proud in fatherly way. As he knew it was hard for Yosano to adjust to the agency after getting saved from Mori by himself and Ranpo. And Ranpo being a huge help for her during this time. But hearing her words to Kunikida about any future members, made him feel proud and happy.

Ranpo on the other hand simply smiled and put his two cents in.

“Well, said Akiko. The Agency will always be here as long as we live and for the abilities, Kunikida, we don’t need to know them as now. After all we only need my ability to thrive for the agency right now.“ Ranpo says with a smirk on his face.

Yosano and Kunikida looked at him, then each other and just giggled at Ranpo’s words. As they were heartfelt but still Ranpo-y in a way.

Ranpo joined in right after seeing his younger siblings laughing. So the three of them were now laughing together.

While watching his kids giggle and laugh, just made Fukuzawa smile and relax for a little while. 

After a bit, this moment of laughter ends, with Kunikida speaking up.

“Alright, let’s get back to work. I didn’t make my schedule for nothing, Y’know.” Kunikida pauses, adds one more thing, “Also thanks for your words, Yosano, Ranpo and you too, President. As despite not saying anything, I know you would add something similar like these two.“

Hearing his words, Ranpo and Yosano looked at each other briefly and went near Kunikida and gather him in a hug.

Fukuzawa who knew what his two eldest were thinking and joined the hug aswell.

The hug was warm all around and Kunikida was in the middle of it.

But like all the agency’s hugs in the past, it broke apart after a bit and everyone went back to work like Kunikida said. But with feeling lighter in some way.
